Walden Pond State Reservation is a dog-free park with trails and swimming, located at the site where Henry David Thoreau wrote his book "Walden." The reservation offers a beautiful hike and a glimpse of the Revolutionary War's beginnings. Visitors can also explore nearby museums such as Concord Museum, Orchard House, Ralph Waldo Emerson's House, Thoreau Farm, and Wright Tavern.
I grew up in Concord and Walden was our town pond. I came to understand later in life that it is a special spot for people from all across the world. The clear water, ample beach space, and lovingly maintained trails truly make it one of the best ponds I have ever been to.

While visiting from out of state we made this one of our destination stops it was well worth the trip The visitor center was very informative as well as the staff knowledgeable I believe the trail around the lake is 1.7 miles a beautiful scenery to enjoy
Jimmy S — Google review
Very enjoyable, peaceful, strolled around the pond. Interesting history, the visitors center was very helpful. Quite a number of people swimming and kayaking too.

I visited Walden Pond while I was in the Boston area. This place is unique, serene, and peaceful, perfect for hiking, swimming, or relaxing. We hiked around the lake in late June. We also visited Henry David Thoreau’s small house and the original site where this famous writer lived and wrote American classics in the 1800s, seeking to liberate his soul. His desires from the 1800s convey strong messages to people living in the 21st century. I need to find a place where I can liberate myself these days.
Xavier K — Google review
Beautiful, peaceful, somewhat spiritual walk around the pond. I would recommend getting there in the morning if that’s the desired experience. I’m guessing it gets a bit busier later. Two notes: RWE cabin is long gone and a stone marker shows where it once stood. Parking is $30/car for out of state drivers ($10/in state).
Peter S — Google review
Great bit of paradise just minutes out of Boston. Downsides: Parking difficult on nice days Overcrowded beach area on nice days Plenty of mosquitoes on hot humid Summer days.
DrDap — Google review
TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE. And we didn’t even leave the car. Didn’t do any research before coming to Walden pond and upon pulling into the lot we quickly realized dogs aren’t allowed. No big deal! We pulled over and started looking up other places in the area that we could walk with our pups. No dogs or humans had left the vehicle mind you and two female park rangers started aggressively yelling at me “NO DOGS ALLOWED” and I stated yes we saw. We’re just looking for somewhere else to go and the continued to berate me that no dogs were allowed, which I explained again I am aware, that’s why we are all still in the car looking for another option. After screaming at me for another minute they finally walked away. Bikes are not allowed in Walden park either and if we apply the same logic that the dogs can’t be here even in the car, the car next to us had a bike on the rack and that shouldn’t have been allowed either. The rangers were way too aggressive for the situation and it was a terrible experience even though we didn’t actually experience anything. People in the parking lot came up after to make sure I was ok because they were being so loud. Will not be back ever.

Nice trails but super crowded and 30. for parking for visitors...beautiful lake though..

Louisa May Alcott's Orchard House is a historic mansion in Concord where the famous author wrote her novel "Little Women" and set the story. The home offers tours and special events, including educational seminars for all ages. Visitors can experience the 350-year-old halls that are filled with heirlooms and history. The Alcott family lived in Orchard House from 1858-1877, and it served as an inspirational setting for their literary works.
Felt surreal being in the spaces where Bronson Alcott raised his family and entertained literary figures like Thoreau, Emerson, Hawthorne, and I’m sure many more. It was wonderful to see Louisa May’s writing desk and hear stories of her and her sisters. I especially enjoyed hearing about the youngest sister, May, an accomplished artist and interesting figure in her own right. Many of her childhood drawings are on door frames and walls around the house, and her later art is framed all over. Tour was about an hour long with a lengthy video at the beginning. My 10:15 tour was split into two groups-with 10 or 12 of us in each. They were doing quite a bit of restoration and upkeep in the gardens and orchards. Beautiful property!
Carrie — Google review
The house is beautiful, and I enjoyed the video at the beginning. Unfortunately, the tour was ruined by the guide—an elderly lady who talks endlessly for her own pleasure, providing far too much disorganized information, sometimes almost 15 minutes per room. She was also aggressive and unpleasant. No pictures are allowed, and you can’t look at anything on your own without her shouting at you. Overall, it was a very unpleasant and boring experience, which is in stark contrast to the charm of the book and the story of the writer.
Giustiniano — Google review
This was a surprisingly great activity and we were happy we decided to go, we almost didn't. The tour was informative and the house was actually such an old classy place. We were so honored to walk through history!
Cierra G — Google review
A beautiful journey into American literary history! Louisa May Alcott’s Orchard House in Concord, Massachusetts is an absolute treasure for anyone who loves literature, history, or simply charming New England architecture. Nestled among peaceful trees and crisp autumn foliage, the house immediately feels like stepping back in time to the 19th century. The home is beautifully preserved and lovingly maintained—its weathered brown exterior and teal front door are both inviting and historically authentic. Seasonal touches like pumpkins and a welcoming wreath at the entrance added warmth and charm during my visit. Standing on the pathway leading up to the house, it was easy to imagine the Alcott family living, writing, and dreaming here more than 150 years ago. Inside, the guided tours are excellent—thoughtful, informative, and full of fascinating stories that bring Louisa May Alcott’s world to life. You learn not only about her writing of Little Women, which she completed right here in this house, but also about the extraordinary Alcott family—trailblazers in education, social reform, and the arts. Many original family belongings are still in the home, including Louisa’s writing desk and May Alcott’s charming hand-painted artworks on the walls. The grounds are peaceful and picturesque, and the surrounding Concord area adds to the experience with its rich literary history—Walden Pond and the homes of Emerson and Hawthorne are just minutes away.

We visited the home of Louisa May Alcott Orchard House, " Home of Little Women" Concord Massachusetts. Highly recommended for a memorable experience. An interesting historical informative tour guide with family artifacts. Orchard House retains its charm from the time the Alcott family lived there from 1858-1877. The guided tour focused on Louisa Alcott's life and family history.
Barbara ( — Google review
Really interesting house to tour through with great guides (we had Alya), who show true love and passion for the author and the rich history of the house. I never realised just how much of American history was based around this one small town of Concord (which I highly recommend visiting and finding her grave as an extra) and the shop has several books on Emerson etc as a reference.
The O — Google review
Awesome to see where Louisa May Alcott wrote Little Women, and learn about her unique family and friends. Our guide was excellent, and we learned interesting things - for example, she loves ked to go for a daily run through the woods, never got married, quickly made the equivalent of $20 million due to the popularity of her book. Beautiful artwork from her little sister, May (Amy, in the book), who benefited from her sister's success through professional art training in Europe. Well worth the hour we spent there (and street parking was easy and convenient).
Adam W — Google review
Sadly we can't take pictures inside the Alcott house but I am leaving some pictures of the outside and the School of Philosophy that's right next to it. Although the tour is a little crowded and the house itself is really small, the introduction movie they display at the School of Philosophy is quite informative and the vibes are irreplaceable. It's a dive to the past, worth every moment! I definitely recommend a trip to the Orchard House and the historic Concord!

The Concord Museum is a fascinating showcase of the town's political and cultural history, featuring artifacts from the Thoreau family and other significant collections. The newly opened Rasmussen Center houses over 100 artifacts, including Paul Revere's famous "one if by land, two if by sea" lantern. Guided tours are included with admission, providing an enriching experience for visitors. The museum's origins date back to the bicentennial celebrations in 1836 when Cummings Davis began collecting artifacts.
Very nice museum! On the smaller side but packed full of history and artifacts. They have a scavenger hunt for the kids as well as several interactive things for kids to do throughout the exhibits. There is also a lot to do right in the area around the museum, so you can make a day of it even though the museum itself only takes about 1-2 hours to go through.
Katie L — Google review
Spectacular display of the timeline of the events of the night before and the day the Revolutionary War began, April 19, 1775. Loved the display of “The Midnight Ride of Paul Revere”. Nicely laid out museum and the format of the descriptions were short enough, yet descriptive to keep the interest of teen boys. A Gem of a Museum! Stop at the spot Paul Revere was captured between Lexington and Concord. We got lucky and saw the Red Coats and the Colonial Rebels along the trail.
Rebecca B — Google review
There’s a lot more to this museum than I was expecting! So much interesting American history I didn’t know about and some really cool historical pieces (like of course the lantern). The staff was very friendly as well and always around to answer questions. Since it was December, they had Christmas tree displays for different children’s books and they were so impressive! I had a great visit and would come back
Sadie V — Google review
A delightful experience. Wonderfully presented, walks through the history of Concord and its people which is so important in the overall history of America. Highlights the influence of Emerson and Thoreau and provides information about the unique role of the women of Concord. The Revolutionary War exhibit on the second floor is excellent with visual and multi-media displays. A docent is on hand with interesting little known facts about the time leading up to the Revolution.
Anne D — Google review
Fascinating local museum that also contains world-class exhibits on the Battle of Lexington and Concord--where the "Shot Heard 'Round the World" was fired. Muskets, musket balls, and pieces of the bridge are all present, as are sensitive representations of First Nations, women and people of color through the area's history. While there, take time to also visit the colonial era graveyards of Concord, where many immigrants and locals born in the 1600s are buried, not to mention prominent 19th c. authors like Louisa May Alcott, Ralph Waldo Emerson, Nathaniel Hawthorne, and Henry David Thoreau.
Nick R — Google review
A nice encounter. The history of Concord and its inhabitants, which is crucial to the history of America as a whole, is depicted in a beautiful way. explains the distinctive significance of the Concord women and emphasizes the impact of Emerson and Thoreau. Excellent visual and multi-media exhibits can be seen in the Revolutionary War exhibit on the second floor. A docent is available to share fascinating little-known details about the period preceding the Revolution.

Verrill Farm, a cherished family-owned establishment in Concord since 1918, offers an array of fresh produce, baked goods, and locally sourced items at its seasonal farmstand and bakery. The farm also hosts various events such as pumpkin festivals, farm-to-table dinners, and holiday celebrations. With breathtaking grounds, it's also a popular venue for weddings. Families can enjoy picking strawberries in the spring while knowing they're getting organically grown goodness.
We popped in on our way to Mahoney's Garden Center. Looked really big on the outside. They had a deli so hubby and I split a grilled cheese. It was AMAZING. Best grilled cheese on the planet. Hubby and I have a date in 1 month to go back for another grilled cheese because it was so good. They also had some gorgeous desserts, but we decided not to get any as we already had dinner reservations, but definitely next time. Everyone there was super friendly. Bathrooms were clean. Food prices were comparable to a regular grocery store but definitely not as big as selection. Definitely worth a visit.

We had great experience. Purchased field admission tickets online $10 each.that allows on field and every adult ticket includes pick n take home 5 sunflowers. They got more produce for sale and deli inside to grab food. Can eat inside or outside lots of space to hang around take pictures.

Flower picking at Verrill Farm is such a fun and adventurous experience under the sun surrounded by beautiful wildflowers! My fiancé and I had a romantic time together in the fields — it felt peaceful and joyful. The flowers are very reasonably priced and last for many days. We also attended the pancake breakfast event a different day under the tent, and it was absolutely delicious! It was so nice to see families with children enjoying the morning and the live music added such a warm touch. Highly recommended for a perfect weekend outing!

This sunflower farm is perfect because they have local grocery store as well. The sunflower farm is across the street from the grocery store, it was kinda confusing a little bit where to go. But we did pay the $10 fee in the cashier and they told us to go across the street, $10 also get you 5 sunflowers that you can pick out yourself. It was a gloomy day but the sunflowers are still beautiful and some if them are bigger than our faces. Beautiful!
Kassandra T — Google review
Went strawberry picking in the first week of June! Entry to the field is timed so that it's not too crowded and picking is staggered into different rows for different weeks as the berries ripen. Got 8lbs from a 4 quart basket in about an hour, and ended up being about $5/lb.
Haley S — Google review
Great prepared floods and lots of fresh produce. There's a new pavilion for eating lunch and relaxing in a scenic setting.
Richard V — Google review
I've had a very mixed bag from this farm, especially in the past few years. Pre-covid, I had their CSA and felt like we were only given the seconds or unwanted items. Also, they supplement in material from other farms without informing you. During COVID, the formerly amazing deli and made to order sandwiches really went downhill (for example, $10+ for a chicken Caesar wrap with one piece of lettuce, a little chicken, and mostly tortilla). I've given them a few chances since and the sandwiches really just haven't improved back... I'd rather go to nashoba bakery 5 mins away for a MUCH more packed sandwich for cheaper. Verrill does a good job with some local produce, and has been great trying to host more events recently (such as Octoberfest). I usually shop during tomato season, when they get the heirlooms. We always shop here for Brandywine tomatoes, but this year they didn't have them a single day I visited. The factor that affects this review the most is the horrible service for old gift cards. Their system can't find them, so the staff try to convince you that an unused gift card has $0 on it. They tried to do this on three separate occasions with three separate gift cards, and none were empty. One more comment is to ALWAYS take something a couple days out from expiring, as my mom got something that had gone off on the date of expiry that was for sale. I hope they try to get back up to quality standards soon!

Minute Man National Historical Park, located along Route 2A near Concord Center, is a significant site in American history. It encompasses the route taken by the Redcoats during the Revolutionary War and features historical landmarks such as Old North Bridge and The Wayside. Visitors can explore the area where the first battle of the war took place and learn about Paul Revere's ride through reenactments on Patriots Day.
May is the perfect time to visit this place, when you will see the best of the spring in New England; and also get educated with American history along the way. Starting from the visitor center, you will be able to watch a video about the whole story; then get a map which tells you everywhere you can go and every parking lot it has. Aiming for a good spring-time hike, I enjoyed the farmland and North Bridge the most, but there are more things to see, such as the Orchard House (which offers you a nice guided tour with $15).
Wanyu H — Google review
Was disappointed to find the visitors center closed during the posted open hours. There were no rangers or anyone around. I'm sure that's due to governmental budget cuts and not the fault of park personnel. It's a beautiful park with incredibly preserved historical structures and plenty of informative signage. The trails are well-kept and there were lots of great birding opportunities and I saw turtles and frogs/froglets in the pond near the visitors center. I do plan on getting over here more since it's my local park.
Natalie K — Google review
Beautiful National Park with loads of American History. Walking paths galore, some shaded some without shade. Locals clearly enjoy the park for cycling and recreation. Two visitor centers, the main one has very limited hours, the North Bridge has more regular hours. Many rangers out throughout the park and available to answer questions and tell the history. Tours are also available for a fee. Park is also close to many other great historical spots in MA.
Elizabeth K — Google review
I learned so much more about American History! We only had one day to spend in the area. So we visited 3 sites: the North Bridge in Concord, the Minute Man National Historical Park in Lincoln, and the Lexington Battle Green in Lexington. We could have spent an entire week here visiting all of the Revolution sites as well as the literary sites from the Transcendentalist era, which I had no idea were so related! If you have time, rent a bike and follow the path of the British regulars as they were pushed back to Boston.
Karyn C — Google review
Very nice historical place, describing the beginnings of the American Revolution. I recommend the video at the visitor center and also walking the trail that connects the different building and places of interest. Concord is close by and worth visiting.

The Beginning of Independence! My daughter (13) and I visited the Minute Man National Historical Park on July 1, 2025. The Park Rangers were extremely knowledgeable and the park was in excellent condition. The Park marks the first "battle" of the Revolutionary War at Lexington & Concord. This is where things escalated to a point of no return between the British and the Colonists. Highly recommend visiting and taking in the very place that led to American Independence.
Jason W — Google review
We loved this non traditional visitor center. you have to walk a ways but there ia a nice path, no stairs to the building. The mocie ia unique and aboit 45 minutes. We thought it was very good. Check the official website for times, they are different than the posted ones in the parking lot. They closed at noon because they dont have air conditioning.

An absolute MUST visit for EVERYONE who visits Massachusetts! This is where the Revolutionary War began! You are walking through History! You can just feel everything in the atmosphere! I could have spent all day here and still it wasn’t enough. Take your time, pay your respects to the events that happened here, go visit some of the museums. You will not be disappointed.

North Bridge in Concord is a historic replica of the 1775 bridge where the first shots of the American Revolution were fired. It's located in a picturesque setting within Minute Man National Historical Park, surrounded by wooded areas and rolling pastures. The bridge holds significant historical importance as it was the site of a key battle during the American Revolution, marking the first American victory. Visitors can stroll through Colonial-period stone walls and explore plaques that add to its historical aura.
A must-visit for anyone interested in American history. The North Bridge is the site of the “shot heard ’round the world,” marking one of the first battles of the American Revolutionary War in 1775. The area is beautifully maintained with informative plaques and scenic walking paths. It’s a peaceful and quiet place to reflect, with a lovely walk along the Concord River and through the surrounding historic grounds. Perfect for a short, meaningful visit that blends nature and history.

Beautiful September Sunday to take a walk from the adjacent parking to the visitors center at the top of the hill. There are lots of nice trails leading off the main path along the way. The river was low but lots of folks with rooftop boats enjoying the water. There was a memorial service in session on the grounds of the visitor center that was well attended by about 300 people. It is an easy walk with plenty to read and learn along the way. The parking lot was very full but luckily found one of the last spots. I would get there earlier next time. Not nearly as busy on a weekday.

It was absolutely beautiful, and it was amazing to be standing in a place of such meaningful history. It was also very cool to see the residences of people such as Louisa May Alcott in the way to the Old North Bridge, as well as the Old Manse of Ralph Waldo Emerson at the bridge itself.

Beautiful home and gardens. I noticed they have put up protections around a snapping turtle nest off the path - good conservation efforts! The park rangers were very well informed and I enjoyed the visit.

North Bridge in Concord is a quick and easy stop for anyone who appreciates American history. It's only 10 minutes from the main highway, doesn't cost anything to see, and its historical significance as where the Revolutionary War began speaks for itself. It's a quick and easy stop if you're just passing through, otherwise you can make a day of it with the area offering a myriad of other historical sites to visit in addition to North Bridge. All of this said, I highly recommend it as a stop for all lovers of history.
Jacob T — Google review
If you are interested in American history you should visit here. If you want a shorter walk, or have physical limitations, park in the lot off Monument Street. Regardless, also stop at the Visitor Center.

Really amazing experience to stand in the same place where the first fights go birth the nation happened. Incredibly beautiful lane that’s well maintained.

Honestly, my emotions surprised me. The crowd dispersed briefly and I ended up on the bridge alone. It was beautiful, quiet and simple yet profound. The farmer statue reminds you of what happened here. There’s even a small tribute to the British who died at the battle of Concord. I didn’t realize Hawthorne bought the adjacent land. Take time to travel Author’s Row along the drive up from Lexington. Definitely a location worth visiting!!

Sleepy Hollow Cemetery, located in Concord, is not just a resting place for some of America's most brilliant writers and thinkers but also has a rich history. Originally a nature garden under the supervision of Ralph Waldo Emerson, it now houses the graves of notable figures such as Henry David Thoreau and the Alcott family. The cemetery was once a popular spot for locals to take walks and inspired William Ellery Channing's poem 'Sleepy Hollow.'
Wonderful cemetery with, among other headstones, many famous authors buried in one section. The landscape is sprawling, very peaceful place to be. I spent a few hours here and would love to return - I did not see it all.
Theresa J — Google review
What an emotional place to visit! Entering the Sleepy Hollow Cemetery through the second gate from Concord's historical center, you'll find signs pointing to the Author's Ridge. On a narrow one way road, you'll quickly reach it - there's room for no more than four or five cars to park at any given time. There's a steep walk to the graves of our beloved famous authors - starting with Hawthorne, followed by Henry Thoreau, Louisa May Alcott and further along is the tomb of Ralph Waldo Emerson. It was lovely to see their graves with tender notes and multiple pencils and pens, even pebbles. It's a beautiful place to honor and remember these wonderful minds that improved our world within their lifetimes. It's a must visit if you're going to Concord MA, and it's open to the public daily from 7am to dusk.
Livia L — Google review
Great old cemetery. This place is huge, so allow some time to wander and check out the grounds. Luckily, you can drive through it. It took us a minute to find Authors Ridge, but we finally did. If you are close to Concord, it's worth going.
Nora C — Google review
Sleepy Hollow Cemetery in Concord is more than just a burial ground — it’s a quiet, leafy sanctuary steeped in history. The highlight for many visitors is Authors Ridge, a peaceful hilltop where some of America’s most influential literary voices rest: Louisa May Alcott, Ralph Waldo Emerson, Nathaniel Hawthorne, and Henry David Thoreau. The path up to Authors Ridge winds through a mix of shaded and sun-dappled spots, and when you arrive, you’re greeted by simple, humble gravestones surrounded by offerings left by admirers — pens, pebbles, flowers, and handwritten notes. There’s something profoundly moving about standing there, imagining the words these authors wrote not far from where they now lie.
Mark V — Google review
We really enjoyed our visit to Concord but in general, we found signage throughout all historic sites to be lacking. It took us a lot of time in the cemetery to finally locate authors ridge. The cemetery is obviously quite old so walking is not the easiest. It is also very hilly. It would be great if there could be better signage, so that people did not need to wander through the cemetery in search of authors ridge. The actual viewing of the graves was very moving.

Gorgeous. If you are looking for Author's Ridge, go far down the street until you see the signs, then enter. The grounds are massive. Stunning. Drop-dead beautiful. I can spend years here... I probably will. Visit while you can—

An amazing cemetery! Check out authors ridge and also notice the engravings on the tombstone. These were very resilient people. Their tombstone are noticeable not austere unlike the tombstones in the old burial ground that has more of the original founders of concord, which were puritans. Check out the visitor center for awesome tours! General history and specialized available!

Beautiful cemetery. I normally like to walk at a fairly quick pace going through a cemetery but, this one felt peaceful. It was lovely to walk through and amazing to see the resting places of such notable, distinguished authors on Author's Ridge. Highly recommend.

If you're in search of a delightful treat, look no further than Reasons To Be Cheerful. This charming café specializes in unique flavors of house-made ice cream that are sure to tantalize your taste buds. Alongside their creamy creations, you can also indulge in freshly brewed coffee and scrumptious cookies. After enjoying a fun outing at nearby Rideout Park or Nashoba Bakery, why not take a leisurely stroll to this cheerful spot for an ice cream cone?
We stopped in here and got the vegan coffee cookie flavor. There were only 2 vegan options but the coffee cookie was very good.

One of the many reasons I'm glad the pandemic is in the rear-view mirror is I can get out to some of my favorite ice cream places. And if you're like me and you enjoy home-made ice cream (in unique flavors), you'll want to make a trip to Concord and stop at Reasons to Be Cheerful. I'm a big fan of the Coffee Heath, and the Maple is wonderful, but there's always something new to try. Friendly servers, and you can take out or eat in-- there's a charming little dining area in the rear; it has a statue of a cow (of course), and art-work on the walls. There's never a bad time for an ice cream, and I really enjoy having that ice cream at Reasons to Be Cheerful.

If you are looking to book a cute, vintage ice cream truck for your event, look no further. Reasons To Be Cheerful has a wonderful ice cream truck called the Chillwagon, and it was a huge hit at our wedding. The owner, Phil, was wonderful and great to work with. Our guests loved them and I feel like the ice cream truck pulling up on the lawn of our venue at the end of dinner was a moment our guests will really remember! The ice cream is delicious, too. They were hands down my favorite vendor at my wedding and I am so glad we had them there!

Bumping little ice cream joint. Large scoops on tiny cones. great flavor and not too sweet. They also have amazing and huge cookies. I think they also have a thing for cereal as there were options for cereal to be mixed into your ice cream and they had a corn flakes and marshmallow cookie.

I was very cheerful after my visit to Reasons To Be Cheerful on Halloween afternoon. Delicious selections. Friendly staff.

Good ice cream (and better than the mega ice cream place a few miles away) but definitely not as good as when we first discovered it. We discovered last year that the shop changed hands between then and now. The ice cream itself isn't quite as creamy, and the flavors haven't been as interesting as they once were. There was a time when I'd happily drive a half hour out of my way to get ice cream here, but now I rarely go unless I'm in the area.
Cheryl M — Google review
Was at event and they had truck serving ice cream. 1 scoop ice cream for $7? Then I asked the man serving if it was flavor I ordered and he sarcastically grabbed the cup and put it up to his face and smelled it. Maybe the shop is better but this guy is special.
Thomas E — Google review
We got the So Simple ice cream cake for a birthday. It is SO DELICIOUS. I cannot stop eating it! The ice cream is smooth and creamy, and the fudge and jimmies filling and topping are the perfect amount to complement the ice cream without making the cake into a sundae. I cannot wait to try the other ice cream cake flavors!

Great Meadows National Wildlife Refuge is a wetland habitat that offers nature trails for bird-watching and other wildlife viewing. It is an ideal location to reconnect with nature, especially during the spring when the wildlife and birds are abundant. The trails and boardwalks are easy to navigate, and there is ample parking available. Additionally, this refuge provides a wonderful opportunity for stargazing.
Beautiful spot for a nature walk. I also highly recommend crossing the road after the boardwalk on the red maple trail to the adjacent Sudbury land trust property. Lots of lush ferns.

A beautiful spot. It is a nice oasis of nature along a road that had much development in spots. This area is a very relaxing break from all that plus.....it is good for the earth and the ecosystem.

I enjoyed walking around Great Meadows National Wildlife Refuge. There isn't a lot of trails here but the boardwalks are nice and I was able to see a few different kinds of birds while exploring.

Stumbled upon it while looking for places to visit within other places. Not much of a parking lot. Not a large place. I didn't go up a hill and around the place. I did go around a nice pond.

Walden Pond, a 64-acre lake within the Walden Pond State Reservation, is a National Historical Landmark known for its natural beauty and historical significance. Formed as a kettle hole by retreating glaciers, it inspired Henry David Thoreau's famous work "Walden; or, Life in the Woods" after he spent two years living in a cabin on its shore.
A true American pilgrimage site. American environmentalism was born in the mind of thorough, but he brought it to life here. A wonderfully beautiful place. The visitor center is great. The replica cabin is perfect. I rented a bike share bike at the Concord Visitor center and didn’t have to worry about parking. It’s a nice 20 min ride. The bikes can be locked, so no need to worry about that. You should bring a small towel and wade ankle-deep to feel the water. The town of Concord is a great place to end the day.
Seth C — Google review
Beautiful lake,, clear water, parking can be limited during weekends, small sandy beach next to water. Parking is 8 for MA license plates and 30 for others. Machines and online payment options available
Fito H — Google review
Beautiful! Very well maintained visitor center, parking lot, and trails. Parking is a bit expensive for non-residents ($30) but the experience is worth the stop. Lots of signs that direct you to Thoreau's cabin site.
Erin T — Google review
Fantastic spot that exceeded expectations. Perfect 45-minute flat walk around the pond (you can make it a little more rigorous with other trails) with obviously profound historic significance. The parking price for out of towners was ridiculously steep for off-season ($30), so I'm not sure I would go back (which may be their goal), but it's worth it for one time.
J D — Google review
Truly a lovable historical and hiking place in Massechusetts. So many beautiful things you can enjoy and see. The pond is swimmable and seems pretty clean. Parking permit is $8 per day (MA plates), which literally serves as an all-day pass ticket. In this, I did a hike in the morning, went to a nearby sculpture museum, then back here for the sunset - which worked out pretty well!
Wanyu H — Google review
It's actually a really nice Pond that I really enjoyed walking around and swimming in. There's also a nice Visitor Center to get information. The cost of parking there is a rip off though. Talking to locals at the pond I found out you could park in residential areas around the pond and walk to it.

Additionally, there are picnic tables in both sunny and shaded areas, water fountains, and toilets available at 90 Stow Street. Visitors can also make use of the well-maintained tennis courts and running track. The park is conveniently located near downtown Concord, making it easy to explore other nearby attractions.
Really good tennis courts and well maintained. The lawn throughout was perfectly green and clean. There is running track and other play areas. Right near the downtown Concord will help greatly in visiting other attractions nearby. Only downside is parking is limited and need to use street parking.

The playground overall is pretty good, it could really use some shade (like the triangle sail shades) and there is no longer a water feature which is sad for kids The picnic area is smaller but a few tables were available when we went

Fiorella's Cucina is a charming upscale restaurant that beautifully blends traditional and modern Italian culinary traditions. The ambiance strikes a perfect balance between rustic warmth and elegant sophistication, thanks to its inviting wooden interiors. Guests can indulge in gourmet dishes, including delightful Neapolitan-style pizzas baked in a wood-burning oven, which adds an authentic touch to the dining experience.
Absolutely outstanding! We came here as a group of 6 plus a baby and the staff were so accommodating and the food was top notch. Our server was Morgan and she was well timed, attentive, and made us feel right at home. Our friends ordered some delicious cocktails and my wife and I selected mocktails that tasted divine! My wife had the Rock Paper Scissors and I had the Raspberry Lime Spritz. For an appetizer we enjoyed an Arancini before enjoying a main course if Chicken Parm and Bolgonese Pasta respectively. I want to note they made special accommodations for our friend with a dairy allergy and the baby! Many thanks!

A rare find in a restaurant experience where authenticity meets service, ambiance, and food quality. What the selections lack in exoticism they more than compensate for in solid, genuine, perfectly seasoned authenticity, preparation and presentation. Tim our server, was extraordinary - attentive, personable, informative, and professionally knowledge. More importantly, he was sincerely empathetic based on our preferences, and was spot-on with his recommendations. A totally satisfying dining experience!

I went back with my Friend WX. We ordered three dishes, and they were so good! Curtis F — Google review
What a marvelous restaurant. The food was superb. In our group we had the beef ragu, haddock piccata, and veal Parmesan. All were cooked to perfection and were of a reasonable size to consume in one sitting. The beef short ribs were off the Boone and there was plenty of meat The pasta was exactly al dente to absorb the sauce and carry the flavors to your mouth. Haddock was soft and almost pudding - like in texture, served with broccoli rabe and perfectly cooked small potatoes. The lemon sauce was tangy and clung to every bite. Veal Parmesan was tender and smothered in an appropriate amount of cheese and sauce. The portion was such that we all had a taste with plenty for the primary diner. Drinks were cold and plentiful The beer menu was disappointing with little variety and no local craft beers. While on the pricey side it was fully worth What was charged Very busy and the tables are close together so the noise level is somewhat elevated, just barely below the conversation allowed level. As we had a booth near the kitchen, the level was just acceptable. Due to the busyness of the place it took two hostesses and a manager to keep the seating arranged properly. The result was that the few servers were pushed to the max. It took 10 minutes to see our server the first time. After that water, drinks, and food came out at a reasonable pace. The biggest disappointment, albeit a minor item, was the bread basket. It had four tiny 5 inch strips of undercooked flatbread. Well buttered and seasoned, but could they be any less generous? It was enough for one person and very chewy Better they not serve any than embarrass themselves with what the brought to the table Overall it was a good to very good dining experience with the food receiving an excellent rating.

Ralph Waldo Emerson House, located in Concord, is a must-visit for fans of the renowned writer. The house, originally built as a summer residence in 1829 and later purchased by the Emerson family in 1835, still retains many of its original furnishings and personal effects. Maintained by Emerson's descendants as a private museum, guided tours are offered to visitors eager to explore the well-preserved rooms that once belonged to the literary icon.
Multiple women work here and collectively make up a great tour team! The first and second rooms do have a few seating options. The upstairs portion of the house was a bit stifling, but that is to be expected during a heat wave like the one happening right now. Nice little gift shop on the first floor.

I went here as a field trip with my school and was treated extremely unpleasantly. We entered to a short, dark-haired woman shoving us to the right hallway. When we said “hi” or “thank you” to her, she said “this way.” Very rude. Then, when we got into Emerson’s writing room, we met our tour guide, who did not tell us her name. She spoke boringly, as my group was bored the entire time, and not to mention, she told us we could NOT ask questions, which suprised the group. We got to the second room to which my classmate was HOLDING her phone, our tour guide stopped everything she was doing and rudely told her to put it away, when all she was doing was holding it. The boring tour continued, and as we were about to leave, we were on the staircase landing all talking with eachother when she RUDELY says that she has 5 minutes left and asks if we are ready to listen. Then she continued to explain the photo of Abe Lincoln on the wall as if we don’t know who he is. This woman had a grey bob-cut, was wearing floral pants and brown shoes. She was extremely unpleasant and ruined my experience here. As we exited, the other half of my class exclaimed how good the tour was, when my group and I were left bored and ashamed.

Disappointed. Visiting from Utah and really looked forward to this museum. My 11-year old son was excited, ran up to the door, rang the bell (as the sign indicates on the door). At 4:29p.m., the staff member opened the door and told him they were closed. Me and my elderly parents were walking through their parking lot when he ran back to tell us. I looked at my phone and it said 4:29 pm. Sad.
Tina D — Google review
I can't comment on the house itself because we never got to take a tour. When we tried to enter the house a very rude staff member told us to get out. Apparently the house was closed for a private event, but there was no information about this on their website or social media accounts; there was also no information posted anywhere on the property or front door. Although we would have loved to tour this house, we don't plan to go back. If you visit, I hope for your sake that they will have worked on their signage and customer service skills.

The Concord Free Public Library was established by William Munroe, a local businessman, who wanted to give back to his community. The grand Gothic structure stands as a testament to the town's rich history. The library hosts numerous low-cost and free events for families, including concerts and singalongs. Visitors can also enjoy quiet study areas and engaging storytelling sessions. While some visitors appreciate the professional and cheerful atmosphere, others suggest adding more local character to the communal coffee area.
The library is very historic, has great architecture and a large selection of books. It also has a nice modern children’s area!

The center of civilization. A statue of America's Philosopher King, Ralph Waldo Emerson, sits at the front entrance. On the side entrance, the transcendental figurehead and inspiration for women, Louisa May Alcott, has a bust almost with a life of its own. The book selection is diverse. You could spend a whole day here just browsing several floors and subsections. The librarians are courteous and informative.

This is a beautiful library, both with it's older and more contemporary architecture as well as art like the bust of Louisa May Alcott. The collection and seating is also satisfying for such a smaller town library. I really can't add to what positive things other reviewers have said about it. Club Car Cafe is a charming spot with the option for outdoor or indoor seating. The cafe offers a delightful surprise for children and train enthusiasts with its model train running around the room. The breakfast menu is highly recommended, featuring fresh coffee and a variety of teas. Visitors can also purchase delicious baked goods to take home. The spacious indoor area provides ample distancing between tables, creating a safe dining environment. Additionally, the friendly staff and nostalgic train decor add to the overall enjoyable atmosphere of this neighborhood gem.
As my son said "one of the best breakfast places, ever." The food was delicious, the service was quick and attentive, despite how busy they were. The kids loved the little train that runs around the restaurant. We'll definitely be returning.

Cute, non-pretentious, slightly old-timey breakfast & lunch cafe next to West Concord train tracks. My special sandwich of the day bbq crisp chicken came smothered with a sweet gravy - the breaded breast was flattened and sizeable. I was asked if I wanted blue cheese (ranch?) and I said sure, thinking it was part of the sandwich. Well, that made it a bit too saucy. I ate half the breast with a fork & knife and the other half, between the provided tomato, greens, bun. Homemade fries and a pineapple coke slaw were the included sides. The salad was large portioned. The atmosphere was a little old-timey with a toy train that runs around the perimeter near the ceiling. Appears a lot of locals and families eat here.

This establishment is more than a small town restaurant, it is a cherished landmark in West Concord. The owner, Ronnie and his daughter Bianca work hard every day to serve quality food in abundant portions. Bianca's kindness and regard for her customers is outstanding, always an uplift in her greeting. When large parties come in with small children her good spirit is apparent and something sweet to see. The traditional food that is served (must mention the turkey club sandwich) is hard to find these days. The turkey is freshly cooked, not sliced from a brick of turkey as most sandwiches are. Their homemade coleslaw is the best! An atmosphere such as this, true small town charm, not flashy just real is very hard to find. Watch the toy train above and the real train out the window, take the time to realize what is going on and how hard people work to keep a business such as this going after all these years. Kudos to Club Car Cafe, great job and we love that you are here!

Had breakfast on 4/7/24. Come on guys, really??? Please get it together. It could be better if whoever is cooking, gets a lesson!! My husband's toast was barely toasted. He ordered eggs and bacon. I ordered eggs Benedict with salmon. My eggs were slightly under cooked. The bagel was also not toasted properly and one bagel was toasted more then the other. The coffee could be alot stronger. The orange slice was dried out. The strawberry slice was super over ripe. For the $$ they need to get it together already!! Kinda disappointed. I'm not gonna say anything to the servers, because what are they gonna do? Someone already thought the toast, the eggs, the orange slice etc. were acceptable. If I have to send it back for repairs, that is another big inconvenience. Get it right the first time please! The place wasn't busy, please don't rush the food! I would rather wait longer and get the food proper. However the service was excellent! The kitchen needs to step it up. Its eggs and toast. Its not rocket science!! Why don't they know how to toast bread and cook eggs?? Start properly cooking the food and then the place should be busy on a Sunday morning!! (And they need to get a swiffer to the ceiling corners.) I would like to try the waffles or pancakes next time. Hopefully the waffles are excellent. HINT HINT!!

Upon first glance, this place looks adorable. My experience began on a beautiful Saturday morning—but quickly took a turn for the worse. The staff took my name and assured me I was next, saying the table was ready and the wait would be short. However, about 30 minutes later, I popped my head in to ask if our table was ready. Without an apology for the delay, I was told the table just needed to be wiped down and we’d be seated shortly. Thankfully, we finally were. Trying to let go of the extended wait, I attempted to enjoy the small-town charm—but that quickly faded, replaced by the pretentiousness of both the service staff and customer base. I waited over an hour for my food. My “bottomless” coffee was never refilled. The people I dined with had received their meals, finished eating, and were ready to go before I even received mine. I politely asked if my food would be coming soon. As someone who’s worked in service, I understand that delays happen—but I had been waiting an hour for eggs. Instead of an apology, the waitress responded with a curt “okay,” as though I were an inconvenience. When more time passed, I asked to have my meal packed to go since I was running out of time. But my food never came. No one checked in, updated me, or even acknowledged the delay. Again—this was just eggs. Eventually, I had to leave. The people I was with brought my food to me later—cold eggs. At least they were offered an apology and told the kitchen was short-staffed. That information would have been helpful before I waited over an hour and a half. Oh and the three meals cost $50. Don’t worry, no discount was provided nor offered. I paid full price and still tipped 20% but will never go back.

Or even if you just don't want to sit at the park. It's the cleanest place like this I've ever been to anastasis amazing

I can’t begin to describe how perfect, impressive, and seamless the process was working with JamTime for my son’s 3rd birthday party. The staff is absolutely incredible, and very passionate about working with children. The space is amazing, and EVERY child I’ve ever seen absolutely loves being at JamTime. Their prices are very reasonable and they provide so much. Our party package came with coffee, creamer, sugar for adults, lemonade and water for children, beautiful balloons and signage, beautiful table setups for the kids with all cups, plates, cutlery, and centerpieces, and as soon as we came in with our extra food and cupcakes, the staff was there to meet us and help us set it all up. They are INCREDIBLY swift and quick with their set up and breakdown and everything looked absolutely perfect for my son’s party. They ran the run of show perfectly too - with a visit from the moose, cupcake time, and pizza/food time for the kids. Everyone raved about how great and fun this party was and at the end, all of our presents and everything we brought was completely wrapped up and perfectly assembled to go. You literally could not ask for anything more or for anything to go more perfectly for your child’s birthday, than what is being executed over at JamTime. They are the best in the business and they don’t take advantage of families or overcharge for average parties, like other local places. Don’t hesitate, book your child’s party with them ASAP and you won’t be disappointed! Thank you, Team JamTime for making my son’s birthday AMAZING!

We recently had our daughter's birthday celebrated at JT Maynard and we had a great experience with everything. The staff were very helpful and I had to do literally nothing! All the kids had really great time.Their goody bag stuff is filled with cute fun toys and kids loved by it. Highly recommend this place if you're looking for a nice play area to celebrate your toddler's birthday with zero effort!

We had a great time , party coordinator was very helpful and attentive to our needs , I did bring the decorations a few days before and the staff helped with all the set up, we had the whole facility for ourselves, overall best place for little ones to have their Birthdays. Book in advance since is best .

We just had my son’s birthday at Jam Time Maynard. It was FANTASTIC! They did EVERYTHING. We purchased the premium party package. I literally just brought the cake. They set the table for the kids to eat, they lit the candles, they cut the cake. They keep the party on track so you don’t have to worry about time. They do EVERYTHING! It was really nice, as a parent, to not have any stress. I got to watch my son enjoy his party and I didn’t have to do anything to prepare for it. They decorate before hand and then they clean up everything at the end and they even helped load our car. Such a great experience! I will definitely be telling our friends to host their birthday parties here.

We had to relocate our daughter’s first birthday and booked a last minute birthday party at Jam Time and were so impressed. Parties are well oiled machines, the staff is super organized and responsive, and it is a huge perk not to have to clean up after. The kids had a blast! This was our second time having a party at Jam Time (at their previous Natick location) and would definitely recommend to others. Even if you aren’t in the market for a party, a day visit is worth it too. This location is so clean and fun for little kiddos.

This place is kind of dirty. Not sure why people are raving about it. I bought a pack thinking I would want to come back, then called to cancel it and 48 hours had passed already. They refused to refund me. Outrageous policy. I would never recommend this place. Staff not even friendly.

Dessert shop
Bedford Farms Ice Cream is a popular spot known for its delicious and dense ice cream that stays cold for a while, making it worth the wait in line. The friendly staff are helpful with recommendations, and the value is incredible, especially for the kids' size portions. While the space in Concord is limited, their Oreo and Green Monster flavors are highly recommended. Additionally, their seasonal flavor peach has been described as out of this world.
Wow is all we can say about the wonderful ice cream we had while visiting the Minuteman National Park in Concord and Lexington. This ice cream shop, while very small inside, packs one heck of a punch when it comes to their ice cream selections. There were several different serving sizes and some of us let our eyes determine the size, which turned out to be a mistake. We were a party of ten and everyone enjoyed our choices of ice cream and cannot forget just how creamy the ice cream was. The staff was wonderful, service with a smile. The prices of everything there were more than reasonable, and the taste made it all worth every penny we spent. The shop does have a small area inside to sit and enjoy your treat, only a few tables, but has some benches out in front of the shop and there is plenty of free parking available.

I got the brownie sundae, with coffee ice cream , it was great ! The ice cream was creamy and perfect and the brownies were broken up into pieces which I never experienced before but I loved it . I will be coming back to try something else soon!
Dan D — Google review
Some of the best ice cream I have ever had! I got the basic chocolate and there was nothing basic about it. Really dense and very cold, and by that I mean it stayed cold for a while - hate it when ice cream melts really fast. Line was long, but moved really quickly. Staff was friendly and helpfully when it came to asking for recommendations. Would 100% revisit. The chocolate I got was the kids size by the way, so value wise this place is incredible. If I had to pick one gripe it would be that the kids is so big I felt like two flavors should have been allowed, but that's a very tiny gripe because the flavor I got was fantastic. Overall I give Bedford Farms Ice Cream a 4.5 out of 5.
Ernest — Google review
The ice cream quality is about 7 of 10. Not bad but not impressive. With Crescent Ridge and Richardson's being better. You're also limited to two flavors no matter the size you buy unfortunately.
Mikhail N — Google review
Ice cream is good, but two big downsides are that 1. the sizing is insane. Finally they offer a mini (which is one below a kids, which is subsequently one below a small) and that's STILL a very sizable ice cream 2. The high schoolers who work here (except for one or two I've encountered) are so jaded and cannot be bothered to even engage slightly with customers, especially kids (I imagine a large part of their clientele). Perhaps a byproduct of the entitled concord youth, but a lot is left to be desired for the way the kids interact with customers. Feels like a chore.
Katie K — Google review
Delicious and speedy! I've come twice now towards the end of the day and both times there was a long line - I generally take this as a good sign that a place is popular (hopefully for good reason!). I also steal myself against a long wait. The staff here is very efficient with the person who takes your order also fulfilling it, which keeps things moving quickly. I spent more time deciding what to order than actually waiting to order. I choose the raspberry sorbet - what a great choice! It was so refreshing, and the real raspberries mixed in was a great addition.
Nicole S — Google review
20 dollars for 3 bowls of ice cream. Nice space, good kids working there - but low quality product. I’d say the almond joy / mocha chip I ordered was lower grade than Brigham at 5 dollars a quart. There’s just no flavor in it. Instead of 4 employees…..just hire 2-3. And with the labor savings, improve the flavor profile of your product.
Paul R — Google review
Classic, old fashioned ice cream stand. Friendly staff. Wide selection of great ice cream flavors. Easy parking. I highly recommend mud pie if you are a fan off coffee-based ice cream-coffee Oreo ice cream with fudge. Portions are huge- even the kiddie size.

Located at 58 Main Street, between the Bank of America and Middlesex Savings Bank, in the heart of Concord, the Concord Visitor Center is a must-visit for anyone exploring the area. The center offers public toilets open year-round, a water fountain, visitor information services during summer hours from 10am to 4pm, two picnic tables, benches, and a bike rack.
This center is located in the Chamber of Commerce. Mr. Tim Sink, President of Chamber assisted me because the lady who run visitor center was on vacation. There are numerous brochures, pamphlets and guides for Concord and surrounding area. They also have souvenirs; books, key rings, stickers, magnets, t-shirts and much much more! The building design and decorations are simply beautiful and feels very inviting. I highly recommend making this your first stop in Concord.

This visitors center could set the record for helpfulness and enthusiasm! Between the two person team, they couldn't do enough for us as we were nearing the end of several days in Concord over the 250 Weekend and long Patriots Day extravaganza. Shelley prepared detailed plans for us, marked up maps for our benefit, and even offered to be a private tour guide for us, as she loves history and loves to walk! Incredible enthusiasm!!! We made it to the cemetery, and the next day, we chose to avoid the buses and did our own thing - then headed home to the South Shore!

I decided to be a tourist in my own backyard and joined a tour by foot of Concord, sponsored by the Concord visitors center. What a great way to spend a beautiful Friday afternoon. I joined a family from Germany and Our tour guide who hailed from So Africa. Our guide was extremely knowledgeable and enthusiastic. She was engaging and kept the tour quite interactive which was enjoyable. I’d recommend the tour for locals as well as visitors from out of the area. It’s time well spent.

Historic Trails we Know. Searching for historic trails in Massachusetts, we stopped at Concord Visitors Center where a guide from the @nationalparkservice showed all details about the trails of Minuteman National Park. We also found information about the Minutemen Pursuit Trail developed by Concord Scout House and Scouting America. We also found a cool puzzle of the national parks created by @galisonpuzzles. Our objective is to add these trails to our Historic Trails Story Maps by @globalstorymaps, interactive maps with geolocations, images, maps, and links of these historic landmarks produced by @drlepervanche. #HistoricTrails #HistoricTrailsStoryMaps #abuelosmochileros_concord #abuelosmochileros_storymaps

Adorable town, gave Stars Hollow vibes! Take the time to do the daily historic walking tour if it’s the only thing you do! Our guide Victor was excellent, he really knew his stuff! After, we walked the shops, could have spent hours in the Bookshop, and finished with some apps and drinks at Main Streets Market & Cafe. The chili (no beans) with butternut squash chunks is *chefs kiss*.

Ice skating rink
Valley Sports Arenas in Concord, MA offers a romantic winter activity with its open public ice skating sessions on weekdays. The rink is well-maintained and has recently improved its lighting. While some visitors note limitations in the locker room facilities, it remains a popular choice for hockey players, including youth programs and club hockey. For many, the arena holds sentimental value as a place where family members have played and created cherished memories.
Seeing my grandson play is the most exciting moment in my life, and this rink is where his maternal grandfather played and that makes it more special. Very nice rink..
William S — Google review
Very old and run down facility with two rinks. Plenty of parking and not much else to write home about. You can only view games from one end of the ice. Rink 1 ice is so thin you can see the cement underneath.
Francis S — Google review
Staff (figure skating coach) impolite, unprofessional and unwelcoming. Ice condition, atrocious (see photos). Facility neglected, poorly lit and odorous. Burger King makes better ice.
JJ M — Google review

Our son plays hockey for Concord Youth Hockey and we have had a wonderful experience skating at Valley Sports Arena. They have great programming for young skaters and offer an awesome club hockey program as well. We love having an ice rank in our community.
Tom M — Google review
This is a great year-round rink with reasonable rates for ice. The zamboni dirver, John, is an awesome guy. The rink is pretty well maintained and the ice is pretty good. The lighting was recently updated and it's a huge improvement. The only reason I won't give it 5 stars is the locker room/shower situation. Not enough showers and the rooms are too small. It's still a good rink, though.
Chris C — Google review
The woman that was running the place was rude and abrasive. The Ice was horrible, the fragrance they were pumping out gave us a headache. Would NOT recommend. And the Zamboni came onto the ice while the kids were still on the ice....a big no.

This charming shop is your go-to destination for everything from craft supplies and kitchen essentials to unique gifts and party goods. Whether you're on the hunt for obscure items or fun toys, this store often surprises with its eclectic selection.
We went to this store for nostalgic reasons but once we arrived we were amazed by the selection and how they seemed to have everything in just the right quantity.

I really like this funky little place. They usually have what I need and surprise me by having obscure items and fun new toys. Even if they do not have exactly what I am looking for, there is usually something close to what I need that I can substitute and it is a wonderfully convenient place to pick up birthday gifts for kids. My kids love this place too. Great spot for them to spend allowance money.
Betsy O — Google review
I have always found what I needed on the shelf, if not just ask, they might have it out back. I am amazed at the variety of items in such a small space. Organized well, prices are reasonable for such a convenient one stop shop! I've shopped there for crafts, office supplies, kitchen stuff, gifts for kids, gift wrap/boxes, electrical supplies, summer goods, party goods, Halloween make up, clothing dye, cleaning products. Saves a trip to big box store and cuts down on impulse purchases:) I've brought friends from out of town there just to check it out.

This quaint little store has everything. What a fun place to go. Bought WD40, black thread, phone charger, candy corn, a small toy for both grands. They have many colors shoe laces, cloth dies, sewing supplies, kitchen supplies, hardware, costumes and so much more.

Speaking with Jamie at Barrow Books absolutely made my day. I had just come from Orchard House, and she heard me talking about the tour and asked if I was an Alcott fan, totally surprising me by allowing me to hold a first edition copy of Little Women and a printing plate of an illustration done by May Alcott. She was so kind and knowledgeable and also showed me some other notable editions the store has. This was the cherry on top of the most perfect long weekend - thank you Jamie! I will never forget this and I look forward to returning the next time I visit Concord!

Springs Brook Park is a delightful seasonal destination that offers a man-made swimming pond complete with a sandy beach, making it an ideal spot for families looking to enjoy the summer sun. The park features a playground and concession stands, ensuring that visitors have everything they need for a fun-filled day. Arriving early around 10:30 AM is recommended to avoid crowds in the parking lot.
Springs Brook Park is truly a summer time gem. All the reviews saying how expensive it is, must not have seen the $2k+ price tags on gym pools and other summer clubs charge for a same length season, with way less stuff. There is so much here for kids to do; this is our 4th year (2019, 2021, 2022 and now 2023) and we absolutely love it. Shady area, huge splash pad, sandy beach, dock with a deeper area for jumping. There are a ton of lifeguards that rotate very frequently, and the management is friendly and helpful. We come to SBP from out of town, and recommend it to everyone. Plus it’s never that crowded; there’s ample parking and clean bathrooms. You’ll find me there most summer days!
Katie G — Google review
Beautiful park and nice water- the fact that it's pretty much freshwater and not overtly pool-ish is lovely. Great for residents. I haven't used the picnic area and grills yet. There's also a simple mini golf course, and a concession stand with chips, drinks, and ice cream available. The one critique is that there are a lot of caveats to using the deep end of the pond. There are signs up perpetually saying that the deep end is closed because they're using it for swim lessons, but the signs simply refer you to the hours posted at the bath house. I would love if Springs Brook Park had some sort of either consistent hours for deep end use, or a daily twitter posting of hours so I can better plan my day and hours of swimming.
Michelle S — Google review
Note to the general public: This place is NOT open to the public. You MUST be either a member of the park or a Bedford resident. The chain locked metal gate that blocks the entrance to the park will be a rude awakening to those who made the trip out here. If the park is for locals and paying individuals I am okay with that. I just wish that information was more readily available without making a trip to the park.
A H — Google review
Clean, big, but not too big! We arrive at 10:30, when the parking lot isn't at full capacity yet. We pack a picnic lunch, but you can buy lunch there. There's beach around the whole man-made pool. Most of the pool is 2 feet, perfect for 1-2 year olds. There's a slide but you must be either 9 years old or have a life jacket (that must be "coast guard approved). The slide can be intimidating for some kids. Besides the pool there is an awesome water park where many of the young children hang out at. Next to that is a park with swings. This place is the kind of place where if you say you went there your friend most likely will say "LOVE that place!!" It's especially great if you get a group of 20 or more to go to get a discount!
Liz C — Google review
I USED to enjoy this place as a child and have fond memories with my parents growing up , 10 years ago also great experience with my daughter . Now the place is all about $$$ just like everywhere else , no longer nostalgic or family friendly in my opinion, waaaaay overpriced , absolutely ridiculous!!!! I'll make new memories elsewhere with my family without paying over $500 , like seriously?!
Amber N — Google review
Such a disappointment that you can't visit now as a non resident without a membership. Family membership is almost $500 which is absoutely insane! I've been a ton as a kid myself, and went once with my own son before you needed a membership. We LOVED it, I wanted to go again the next summer and when I checked online the admission rules were all changed. I get that the water was bad because of crowding etc etc but the family pass is unafforadble. Or you can get a "limited" family pass for a little less but then it's only weekdays after 4pm and weekends. During the summer when the kids are home all day who wants to go after 4pm only?? Such a shame. They could have at LEAST made the full day family membership 200-300 for non members which I would find reasonable. Who is going to pay $500 bucks for a few short summer months at spring brook park, when you will probably go, what? 10 times TOPS? So irritating. Maybe if you are a family of 5 or 6 I could see that price point but we have 1 kid. We're a family of 3, they should price it based on how many "members" you're signing up... Since over crowding seems to be their main point as to why they changed things.
Crystal S — Google review
Response to non-Bedford visitors. The place was losing money year after year. The overcrowding added to the already bad water conditions. Water conditions were so bad that the park had to close many days at a time until safe. As a way to stem this, cutting down on visitors was a step. Also, there were a number of other safety issues. People were drinking and some aggressive behaviors were reported in the past few years. This is a family place, one insured and maintained largely by Bedford residents dollars. I say get a membership and visit as often as you want. Otherwise, please realize that there were many factors that played into this solution.
D Y — Google review
Experience was excellent back when we could go ON WEEKENDS.. I'm not a Bedford resident so I paid $10 cover charge each for me and my family so that's $40 and I was fine with that.. Now I went last Friday and I was told we can't go in cause we not Bedford resident or member whatever that ment (member to what) and that was Over $200 to become a member thats NOT worth it.. I use to go twice a year and that's it. Shame on them..

Scimone's Farm Stand, located at 505 Old Bedford Road (MA Route 62), is a beloved local gem that has been in the same family for over 80 years. Despite the passing of Farmer Frank Scimone in 2020, the farm continues to offer an impressive selection of fresh produce, plants, and flowers. Unlike many other stands, Scimone's remains true to its roots as a genuine farm stand without trying to mimic a grocery store.
Great roadside farm stand that has been in the same family over 80 years. There are a good variety of annual and parrenial flowers and vegetable plants. I am happy to support local, family owned businesses such as Scimone's farm.

Some of the best locally grown vegetables and fruit (tomatoes, peaches and nectarines yesterday!) at one of the few remaining large working farms in the area, and the corn is great as is the eggplant! They also have select items from other farms to complete a selection of at least 30 choices such as berries, figs, peppers, onions, etc. I've been coming here for 20 years. Scimone's is a gem, doing the best ever!
Runyon B — Google review
The best farm stand in the area. Unlike so many others, it is an actual farm stand that makes no effort to be a grocery store. At the moment (early September) the corn is fresh from the field and terrific. Local peaches, Italian plums, and tomatoes are great and all fresh from the fields that surround the farm-stand. This farm stand has been here forever and continues to maintain the very highest standards in all they do. I've been buying whatever is in season from Scimone's since the 1970s. It's ALWAYS great.

Located near Orchard House, The Wayside was once home to the Alcott family before they moved. Nathaniel Hawthorne later purchased the house and gave it its current name. In the 1880s, it was inhabited by Daniel Lothrop and his wife Harriett, known for writing Five Little Peppers as Margaret Sidney. The house has witnessed multiple generations of influential residents, making it a fascinating place to visit and explore with knowledgeable guides offering insightful tours.
Got a tour from one of the volunteers and it was fantastic. Definitely recommend a visit.

Great commentary and tour by ranger Rick. Crazy how many different lives were changed in a single house across multiple generations and how the house grew with each.
Merrett W — Google review
FREE ADMISSION and close free parking across the street. This is the home of Louisa May Alcott and Nathaniel Hawthorne at different times in their lives but it is also the home of other authors and is an original witness house for the Revolutionary War battles of Lexington and Concord. Of course the home has had additions and modifications over the ages but it is possible to go on a tour led by National Park Service rangers. On the days when the house is open there are people who portray the residents. There is also a small visitor center and gift shop. Nextdoor is there is another Alcott family home which is also good but admission is charged.

Don't miss this historic house on your visit to Concord! We stopped by for a tour after visiting Orchard House and were amazed by the amount of literary history in its past. Plus we got to enjoy the lovely weather on the screened-in porch and read books by the authors who had lived there while waiting for the tour to start.

Was not able to spend a lot of time. I would recommend if you have time to take the tour.

If you're looking for a fantastic place to learn skating, look no further than Sharper Edge Skating School! This welcoming facility offers lessons for everyone, from toddlers as young as two years old to adults eager to master their skills. With attentive instructors and smaller class sizes, students receive personalized attention that enhances their learning experience. Many families have found success here, with kids quickly gaining confidence on the ice right from their first lesson.
Great experience with lessons for two young girls here. Helped move them around after I booked the wrong class. Have done lessons with other programs at nearby rinks, groups here have better instructors and smaller class size.

We love this place. Kids learn to skate on their own pretty much from the first lesson. Our whole family signed up.

Children's camp
If you're on the hunt for an exceptional summer camp experience for your kids, look no further than Summer Fenn Day Camp. For nearly a decade, this camp has been a cherished summer retreat for children of all ages. Parents rave about the dedicated staff who not only teach during the school year but also bring their passion and enthusiasm to camp as counselors.
My son has been attending Summer Fenn for two years in a row and is already looking forward to coming back next summer. The camp is very interesting and well organized. All details are well taken care of too, which makes it really easy for the parents. I highly recommend this camp to parents with elementary school age kids.

If you are searching for a top notch summer camp experience for your children, look no further. Summer Fenn Day Camp has been my two children's summer home for the past 9 years. While my eldest has aged out my 14 year old and I will be entering our 10th summer at Summer Fenn. I teach during the school year and I love my summers as a camp counselor at Summer Fenn. I have seen first hand the quality, maturity, responsibility and most importantly the fun that the incredible staff has brought to my children for so long. My recommendation is that of a parent and not as an employee as my testimonial is of no benefit to me. Choosing Summer Fenn Day Camp for my children was one of the best decisions I've ever made for them. Please come talk to me at the next open house on Sunday, March 12 from 2-4. See you then. -Mike M.

SUMMER FENN MEANS THE WORLD TO OUR WHOLE FAMILY! We have a seven-year-old son who has attended for the last three summers and his younger sister, who is five, attended for the first time last year. Both of our children are passionate about Summer Fenn and, well, so are we as parents. I can't tell you how comfortable I feel dropping my kids off at Summer Fenn each day, knowing full well that they will be full of laughs, stories, good food, and friendship at the end of each afternoon. Specifically, Summer Fenn was a tremendous part of both of our older two children's' transition into kindergarten. They were comfortable in a new environment, knowing from their time at Summer Fenn that adults and peers can be supportive, and that if you are kind (and live the "Summer Fenn Way"), people will typically be kind to you in return. The level of professionalism at Summer Fenn helps it stand apart from other camps. Literally all counselors have some sort of professional experience working with children, and counselors are fully engaged with each camper, taking great pains and time to get to know each kid, understand their likes, their fears, and their silliest traits, and embracing all of them. We honestly love Summer Fenn and can not wait for our three-year-old to be old enough to attend!

Fenn is without a doubt the best camp I’ve ever experienced. My kids go all summer and love it. My son starts talking about the next summer before he even finishes the one he’s in! The specialty camps are all outstanding - we’ve done chef, pottery, video, STEAM, and soccer and ALL were top notch. Every day is filled with incredible activities and there’s never a time when the kids are bored. The arts and crafts staff are the best and have so many fun activities lined up all summer. The lunches provided are amazing as well. The staff is so incredibly caring and patient with every child, even one like my son who can be a handful. I wish every child had the opportunity to attend Fenn!

Saltbox Farm is a 10-acre working family farm located in Concord, offering a true farm-to-table experience. The farm hosts cooking classes at its rustic farmhouse for up to 14 people, providing an opportunity to learn about and prepare fresh produce from the land. In addition to being a working farm, Saltbox also houses a farm-to-table restaurant, micro-brewery, and catering business in West Concord.
Working with Megan and Ben and the entire Saltbox team was such an amazing experience. They worked with us every step of the way to ensure no detail was missed. The food speaks for itself and I would 100% work with them again and I can't wait till I have another opportunity.
Phoebe A — Google review
The cooking classes are either excellent, or just OK. More depends on your fellow classmates than the instructor. For example, on one night of classes, everyone was laughing and pretending to compete over who made the best dessert. On another, people arrived late and the chef had to rush the final preparation, and we lost our chance to learn how to do it ourselves. Food, of course, is well-made and enjoyable all nights, so three stars makes sense.

Non-profit organization
Art for All Concord is a vibrant community initiative that aims to spread the joy of art and foster a sense of belonging among individuals from all walks of life. Launched in January 2019 as Art Gym, this organization focuses on enhancing mental health and well-being through creative expression. It began with Wonderful Wednesdays, collaborating with Minute Man Arc for Human Services, and unveiled its first public artwork—a charming mural titled "Music in the Village" adorning an ice cream shop.
I’ve been with AfA for years—teaching workshops, helping with marketing, and generally making myself useful. The space is great, but the people are better—a wild mix of artists, crafters, and community builders who somehow make glue guns, glitter markers and existentialism work in the same room. Community art centers like AfA are the heart of a small town. Where else can you paint a mural, make a Valentine, or dive into an immersive drawing experiment—all for less than the price of an appetizer?

Jen and the whole team at BYW were amazing. Communication was clear from the start. The team arrived on the morning of the wedding, put everything together including the arbor (which was beautiful) and then came back the next day to dismantle and take away. They were polite and respectful - would absolutely recommended as a wedding vendor.
