Nature & Parks
Lily Bay State Park, situated on the shores of Moosehead Lake in Maine, offers a range of affordable and free activities. Visitors can enjoy a pebble beach with swimming areas, fishing for smallmouth bass, scenic picnic spots, and a picturesque lakeside trail. The park also provides camping facilities at $30 per night with easy access to the beach. Guests have praised the stunning views and abundant wildlife that roam comfortably around the area.
No matter what time of year our state Park is absolutely beautiful. I enjoy kayaking, hiking and cross country skiing here. The camping sites are spacious with views of Moosehead Lake. Everything is pristine and family friendly.

My wife and I drove from Brunswick to Lily Bay State Park on the strength of many positive reviews. We now realize that the bulk of the positive reviews are written by people who are fortunate enough to camp in this beautiful site. It is, unfortunately, less than ideal for day visitors. The public beach is small with a limited number of picnic tables and grills. On the day we visited (mid-July 2025), it was mild and clear, but so windy that a cookout was really out of the question. It was also abundantly clear that a lot of geese had spent time in and around the beach. It is unquestionably a beautiful location (although what's with the dog statue?), but best suited for people who have campers and other support equipment.
Frederick L — Google review
One of my favorite locations to tent, the check in is fast and easy. The park ranger, and the maintenance team is on top of the game. The park is clean at all times. Outhouses are available at every camping site and always clean and stocked. There is also a comfort station where you can clean your dishes and take a shower, ea shower is accessable for wheelchair users. There are also two boat launching areas, a kids playground, volleyball, basketball area and a public small beach.
Manfred K — Google review
Nice walk thru the woods. Natural trail with inclines and declines, roots and rocks. Numerous spurs to beautiful outlooks onto Moosehead Lake. Several coves. This route is a loop back using the paved road from the end of the trail back to the trailhead at the recreational area/ beach.

Absolutely stunning! My friends & I loved every minute of our trip. Definitely have to come back next year.

Lily Bay State Park has held a special place in our hearts for nearly 45 years. It’s where countless family memories have been made — from early morning swims and lazy afternoons by the lake, to quiet evenings under the stars. The lakefront campsites are absolutely beautiful, offering the perfect backdrop for peaceful, sun-filled days. The campground is always clean and well cared for. It’s more than just a campground — it’s part of our family story. See you next year, Lily Bay!

Small beach, play area, fishing, kayaking, paddle boarding. Boat launch, camping. Dog friendly. Very friendly staff.

Showers are clean free and handicap accessible. Firewood is affordable. Sites are clean and fairly level. Park is heavily booked all summer. Beware the boulders along the edge of the turnaround at the entrance ranger office. Notorious for being hit by RVs. My incident cost me a $300 rear tire. Therefore minus 1 star.

Museum
Moosehead Marine Museum is a must-visit destination for those interested in the rich nautical history of Moosehead Lake. The museum houses an impressive collection of artifacts and offers tours on the historic Steamboat Katahdin, which operates daily from late June to mid-October. Visitors can enjoy informative narrations during lake cruises and explore the surrounding downtown area with its various dining and shopping options. Additionally, the museum provides different trip options on different days, all of which are seasonal.
You will not be disappointed booking ANY cruise on The Big Kate! Incredible old boat with an equally incrediblepast!, The narration is very informative and the scenery is off the chart!! Great food and beverages available on board as well as children's interactive activities while underway. P.S, You may be offered a hand a the wheel!.
Bob W — Google review
Almost the last tour of the season! Went on a Friday and had plenty of room on the boat, the food was great!!! We were only a tad chilly because of the fall temps but there were blankets for us if needed. The lake tour was lovely and we really enjoyed seeing the engine room and steering the boat!
Amber Y — Google review
We totally loved the 3 hour Katahdin trip! The grilled cheese sandwiches were awesome too!!
Amanda S — Google review
We loved the Sugar Island trip on the K! Beautiful scenery, interesting and humorous commentary on a cool old boat. I particularly enjoyed the tour below decks of the machinery spaces.
E H — Google review
The museum is a great piece of Moosehead History. We enjoyed going in and learning a bit more about the logging history and the ships that once cruised the lake like the Kate. They have DVDs available too on the history and souvenirs. This is also the place to purchase tickets to ride the Katahdin.
Michelle D — Google review
Awesome Cruise around the islands. Very enjoyable. Dress warm in October as it can be breezy on the boat.

A wonderful ride & experience. The "Kate" never looked better. Lots of room to move around. Don't forget to visit the museum. It's included in the cost of the ticket.

If you're on the hunt for a dining experience that combines hearty portions with a warm atmosphere, look no further than Dockside Inn and Tavern. This beloved local eatery is famous for its oversized sandwiches, affectionately dubbed "handwiches," which require both hands to enjoy! With mouthwatering options like grilled cheese, chicken and waffles, pulled pork, and burgers, there's something to satisfy every craving.
My husband and I went here during our Maine trip for our 10 year wedding anniversary last week. We've eaten at many restaurants before, but I have to say, this place had me in awe! From the moment we walked in, to the time we left, we were showered with attention. The staff noticed us right away as we waited to be seated, several of them wanting us to know the hostess would be right over. As soon as we sat, someone brought us waters, letting us know our waitress would be right over. Kacey was our amazing waitress. She came over with a big smile and greeted us. We ordered drinks and an appetizer. As she waited on another table, a different staff member brought us our drinks, and still another brought us our appetizer. Kacey took our order and always made sure we had everything we needed before moving on to others. The food was great! The drinks were great! But the thing that struck me as the most impressive is the way the staff worked together in harmony. Most of the time, you get one person who takes care of you from beginning to end while other staff walk by as if you were invisible, knowing "that's not my table". Not here. Kacey was awesome, but if she was busy with someone else, there were others who took the time to be sure we had what we needed. And everyone there had smiles on their faces! That also amazed me! I called the manager over to compliment her on the staff and the wonderful experience they created for us. She must be doing something right to have such a happy group of people! The only downfall I can think of is the distance Dockside is from our Upstate New York home! Kudos to this place...I wish more were like it!

This review refers to the Kathadin Suite, occupied for 4 nights in October 2025. The suite consists of a living room and two bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms. The rooms offer plenty of space, especially the large living/dining room and open kitchen with magnificent views of Moosehead Lake. The suite was not completely clean (paper towels on the floor of one bedroom, hair in the shower, a pillow in a corner behind the bedroom door, etc.). This was not a cause for complaint for us, even if it was not pleasant. What is very unpleasant, however, is that the staff are not really familiar with the facilities. For example, our request to watch football was only resolved on the fourth day with the provision of a Hulu account. Only Samsung TV+ is available as standard, but after two days a Roko Stick was provided. After another two days, the aforementioned Hulu account was also provided, all after repeated inquiries, which was very unpleasant. What is completely unacceptable is that the things promised in the room details are not delivered. Take WiFi internet, for example: stable internet is not possible at all in the Kathadin Suite because the signal is much too weak. The problem was not solved for four days, even though a repeater was promised several times, then not delivered, then they said “there is no problem” etc. etc. Conclusion: no internet for the entire stay! A complaint was later answered with “The WiFi internet is provided complimentary without any guarantee.” It is mentioned in the room information, however, and was a deciding factor for us when booking. Well, that's how customers get ripped off. But the "best part" of the service personnel was that on the fourth out of four nights of our stay, there was a knock at the door at 10:00 p.m. We were already dressed for bed and didn't respond to the knock. After three knocks, the door suddenly opened and a man came in without our permission! It was horrible for me and my wife; our privacy was extremely violated. The man wanted to bring a repeater for the WiFi at 10:00 p.m., unannounced, and simply came in without our permission. That is an absolute no-go for any motel in the world! There has been no apology for this to date. Other: There is a restaurant on the first floor, which we knew about. What we didn't know was that during opening hours, the entire suite shakes when the restaurant door slams shut. We were able to put up with it, but it's worth mentioning as it is very disturbing. The same applies to a bedroom with an air conditioning or exhaust unit (presumably from the restaurant) on the roof, which seems to run 24/7 and causes constant noise in the room. We were able to put up with this too, but there will certainly be some guests who will only be able to sleep in this room with earplugs.
Benjamin W — Google review
Three stars because of the restaurant experience and a bit of noise in the mornings. The rooms were fantastic, had stunning views, and are very convenient to town. The restaurant down below was quite nice and the service was great, but the bacon-wrapped "scallops" were not what they claim. My 12-year-old son ordered them, took one bite, and knew immediately that it was not a scallop wrapped in bacon, but rather something like a stingray wing punched out into the shape of a scallop. The muscle fibers of a scallop are all oriented in parallel, like a string cheese. In this dish, the muscle fibers were chunky and oriented in different directions. More like a feta cheese. See photos. The only other beef we had was that they started playing thumping music in the dining room. Below us at 7:00 a.m. some of our party like to sleep past 7:00, but this woke them up. The manager did response to a text about it saying that he would have them turn it down, which they did, but it was just less thumping. Despite all that, I would definitely stay there again because it was such a nice comfortable space and right in town.

We visited Dockside Inn and Tavern and were blown away from the very start. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, the views are so beautiful, and the food was incredible- full of flavor and perfectly prepared. What truly made the evening unforgettable was our waitress, Kacey. She gave exceptional service, was so warm and attentive, and was unbelievably sweet to our daughters, making them feel right at home. It’s rare to find service this exceptional, and she deserves to be recognized for it! Her genuine kindness truly elevated the whole experience. We loved it so much, we went back a second time during our week-long stay in Greenville. We had a different waitress the second time, who was also wonderful and provided great service. But the moment Kacey saw us, she came by to say hello and, despite not being our server, checked in several times to make sure we were enjoying our meal. Between the outstanding food, the beautiful cozy atmosphere, and Kacey’s top-tier service, Dockside Inn and Tavern has easily become one of my favorite dining spots. I can’t wait to come back!
Gisselle J — Google review
Stopped for breakfast. Food was good but $40 for breakfast is a bit much. Took forever to get our food and it wasn't even busy. The waitress asked if I wanted more coffee but never came back. And just an FYI, not everyone wants fancy flavored tea when they ask for hot tea.
Ann J — Google review
We stayed in the “twilight” room above the inn on the dock. I can’t describe how beautiful it is. So nice and maintained pristinely. Beautiful morning sunrise on the porch overlooking the lake. Would love to make it back someday!
Machelle P — Google review
We ( two guests and one dog ) had a wonderful experience. Drinks came expeditiously, as well as the lunch. Fish sandwich was too big to eat all at lunch. Took food back to our rental. Large beer and wine menu. I had 3 different types of beer. Our very pleasant waitress ( Deniese) was probably the most pleasant waitress we've had anywhere this summer. Even brought out a bowl of cold water for our dog. I'd ask for her if I was you. !

The food at the Dockside, especially the salmon, is absolutely top notch!! We are so lucky to have this restaurant in town and the experience, overall, is worth the trip! The food is amazing, the pricing is reasonable and the customer service is the BEST! We have had Kasey serve us twice now and she is awesome. She’s kind, always has a smile on her face and seems genuinely happy to see customers. She’s one of a kind!

Inn
Fine dining restaurant
Blair Hill Inn, a luxurious bed and breakfast nestled on a hilltop, boasts an elegant establishment that traces its origins back to 1891. This upscale inn offers tastefully decorated rooms and houses a gourmet restaurant. Guests can expect exceptional customer service as the staff is known for their attentiveness and willingness to exceed expectations. The inn's surroundings are picturesque, complemented by a stunning spa and comfortable bar and dining area that invite relaxation.
I stayed for 5 nights with my boyfriend at the Blair Hill Inn. We were in Room 3, which was comfortable and spacious with a beautiful bathroom and a lovely view of the lake. Breakfast was included, which was delicious and made-to-order every morning. We also dined two nights at the inn's restaurant, Slate, and had great meals and drinks. Jenn, the owner, is wonderful and so attentive - if you need anything, just ask her. She booked us a moose tour and an eagle watching tour and gave us many recommendations for things to do in the area. The property itself is beautiful, situated on a hill with a great view of Moosehead Lake. We had a wonderful experience and will definitely be back!
Lorena A — Google review
The Blair Hill Inn in Greenville, Maine, offers an experience that truly begins the moment you step through their doors. The atmosphere and decor are simply amazing, creating a welcoming and sophisticated ambiance. Coupled with incredibly welcoming service, we felt right at home from the start. The views of the lake are utterly stunning, providing a breathtaking backdrop to the entire visit. While the food was well-presented, it didn't quite reach the same heights as expected; it was good, but didn't "wow" us. However, the personal attention and excellent service largely compensated for this. We did find it a bit odd that for such a small menu, the staff occasionally struggled to remember who ordered what. Our only real point of contention was with the bread service and shared small plates. For a table of four, receiving bread divided onto two plates, with a single small Parker House roll needing to be cut in half, felt a bit awkward. Similarly, the whipped ricotta and chicken liver parfait, while delicious, were presented as small, shared portions for two, requiring us to divvy them up at the table. While this might be fine in a very casual setting or with family, it felt a little off and not quite commensurate with the price point, and a fine dining experience. Despite these minor quibbles, The Blair Hill Inn delivers a memorable experience, largely thanks to its incredible setting, beautiful interiors, and outstanding hospitality.

Beautiful estate located on a picturesque hill overlooking Moosehead Lake. Our home for three nights. The breakfasts were wonderful, staff was very friendly and attentive. We enjoyed two prix fixe dinners at their restaurant called Slate. Excellent wines, food, service, venue… The rooms were well appointed, our king bed was very comfortable, we slept with the windows open and started a nice fire every morning to get the chill out of the room. Very decadent to be wrapped up on the couch having my coffee in the morning. There is a 2 km hike in the back of the property that leads to a gazebo where you can take a break and enjoy the views. So many well thought of touches throughout the property made it a very special place to visit.

We had the most incredible stay at Blair Hill Inn while celebrating my mom’s 80th birthday, and every element—from the restaurant to the spa to the accommodations—was exceptional. From the moment we arrived, we were warmly welcomed by Jenn, the owner, who personally greeted us, shared the inn’s rich history, and gave us a thoughtful tour of the property. The accommodations were spacious, beautifully designed, and well thought out. We especially appreciated the in-room coffee, water, and extra snacks—it’s those small touches that truly elevate the experience. The views overlooking Moosehead Lake are absolutely breathtaking and set the perfect tone for relaxation. The spa was peaceful and rejuvenating, and having access to the sauna, shower, and hot tub made it even better. One of our favorite moments was sitting on the porch with a beverage and crudités, taking in the scenery and the calm atmosphere. Dinner at Slate was a highlight. The five-course tasting menu was exquisite—creative, flavorful, and beautifully presented. Every bite was memorable, and the service was attentive and warm. The birthday sign at our table was such a thoughtful gesture that made our celebration even more special. Blair Hill Inn is truly a gem in Maine—elegant yet welcoming, luxurious yet grounded in hospitality. We left feeling rested, celebrated, and eager to return.

5 stars doesn’t do the Blair Hill Inn justice. We stayed here recently and were so impressed by everything. The attention to detail is phenomenal. We brought our two dogs and they were spoiled as well with dog bed, bowls, blankets, treats, and attention. The room was beautiful and very clean. We enjoyed a delicious dinner at Slate, and the complimentary breakfast was so great. All staff were friendly and wonderful. Thank you to Kate and Jenn for the hospitality. I can’t forget the spa as well-Patty and Jess were phenomenal. Such a gorgeous space. We also had the luck of staying when the Inn put on a concert which was a nice surprise in addition to the northern lights while we were there! Stunning views from the Inn and also from the trail you can easily access on their property. We thoroughly enjoyed our time here and look forward to being back!!!

We just stayed at the Blair Hill Inn with another couple. The rooms were outstanding. The food amazing and the service was over the top. You instantly feel welcome and at home. The views are incredible. We hiked the property which has two gazebos to stop and take a break in. The gardens are lovely. The care and attention to the property and the grounds is remarkable. The owner’s passion for hospitality and quality shows throughout!

For day 2, we recommend exploring the east side side of town. Start the day off with Currier Aviation Museum, Inc., then wind down and take it easy by the time you get to The Center for Moosehead History. All together, your day would be filled with about 2 hours of non-stop fun.

For years, we have maintained a small, interesting collection of vintage seaplanes plus associated tools and equipment. We are now in the process of expanding the scope of this museum to encompass the rich history and heritage of seaplanes in the Moosehead Lake Region and beyond. We are setting this museum up as an I.R.S. 501c3 non profit corporation which will grow as the years go by. We envision this museum to be a tribute to the generations of seaplane pilots and all others who made seaplanes a vital part of life in remote regions of Maine, and across the globe. We are incorporating all aspects of aviation, boating and other interesting history items which we are prevalent to this region and would be an interest to folks. We already have enthusiastic help from a number of interested individuals, and look forward to welcoming anyone who has anything to contribute to our quest. We are also looking forward to expanding Currier's Flying Service Inc., and our line of high quality sightseeing tours at Currier's Seaplane Base

Stress Free Moose Pub & Cafe is a popular spot for ATV enthusiasts and visitors in the area. The outdoor seating offers a great view, and the accommodating hostess ensures a pleasant experience. The menu has a nice variety, with recommendations from attentive waitstaff. Despite potential busyness, the food quality and service make it worth visiting. It's known for its delicious dishes like steak tips that are tender enough to cut with a fork and flavorful lobster rolls.
Great place! Laid back atmosphere and a friendly staff. Best fish and chips I've had in ages. Extremely good French fries, and best coleslaw I've had since the last time I was at my mom's house in NC. Best by far that I've ever had at a restaurant. The nachos were good too. Highly recommend.

Stress free moose??? More like, make my Bp go up moose. Yes, my food was very good, and everyone else did like their food. It was hot and flavorful. But the service is the thing that ruined the whole experience. Idk if this was just a bad night or what. But honestly it felt like we were specifically targeted to not be treated well. We watched as our waitress was running back and forth to other tables helping them, while we sat wait for drink for over 20 mins, even after our appetizer came out. After that it was like trying to flag down a boat to get her to grab a refill for us, then when she did, she forgot one of the refills for another 5-8 mins. Like I said maybe this is a one time thing and the rest of the time it is great, but this night was a pretty rough experience.

Lively little pub with a lovely outdoor seating space. My husband and I both ordered the fish and chips. I chose to substitute a baked potato and butternut squash for the chips. The food was great. Fish was crispy outside and moist and flaky inside. I don't know if they always have live music, but they did when we were there, which added to the experience. Friendly and helpful staff.

We visited about a month ago, and brought our dog, Ollie with us. We did have to wait for a table, but it was worth it! It was my husband's birthday, and it fell on Labor Day weekend. The food was delicious. Just the right proportions for both of us. I had the salmon with the mashed potatoes and butternut squash, my husband opted for the fish and chips and his favorite beer, Moosehead. We definitely will be back again with Ollie. He loves when we find restaurants that are dog friendly. He was a fan of the food as well!

Plenty of parking on side and around back of restaurant. Staff was very friendly and efficient even though they were short staffed. Prices are on par for the area.

Woody's Bar is a fantastic local gathering place situated in a charming, rural location. Following each race held by West Cove Ice Racing, this establishment has introduced the tradition of hosting their trophy ceremony starting this year. It serves as an ideal destination for those seeking outdoor activities such as sledding and riding wheelers, all within a partially secluded atmosphere. Additionally, Greenville's favorite night club can be found here, housed in a beautiful and antiquated barn that exudes rustic charm.
Best bar in Greenville! They have live music on their huge stage on occasions. There are pool tables as well. You can ride an ATV to this bar as it is right on the trail at the access point behind the gas station.

In the immortal words of Confucius: I love this bar. Come as you are. First time in town, felt like I've been going there for years. If you do not come to this place, you may suck. Ask your friends.

They were a great host to our burlesque show we had! Hope they'll have us back! Great place to hang out and I loved the old building it was in!

My wife found a torn fingernail in her food which means someone chewed it off and deliberately spat it in her food. When we brought it up to the bar tender she just shrugged it off like it was no big dealThis place is disgusting!!

My favorite night club in Greenville. Beautiful old, rustic barn. Never over crowded, good food, music and a dance floor. Mixed age-group and plenty of games.
