My new favorite stop! A definite hidden gem for truckers! Roughly a mile from I-80 and TRUCKER FRIENDLY! I’m in love! The store itself is well stocked, organized, and clean!!!! Employees are readily available and friendly! Checking out was a breeze! Hands down, the nicest Walmart I’ve ever had the pleasure of shopping at! 10/10 Semi truck parking is located north of the store. The lot is large, easily maneuverable, and well lit. Several grassy areas for pets. 50+ businesses within a 5 minute walk! Everything from shopping, hair and nail salons and barber shops to laundry and postal services! Several fuel stations, hotels, and banking options are also readily available. There’s even bitcoin atm nearby. An EV fast charging station is located in the Walmart parking lot with a Tesla Supercharger station nearby. Can’t wait for my next visit!

Standard Walmart you will find all across America.

Top shelf items-says ask for assistance!!! No body to be found. When I do find somebody they don’t speak English! Thanks for the help. No black ties for flimsy produce bags. 2 checkers available? I’m not scanning and bagging my groceries! NO CUSTOMER SERVICE!
Jean W — Google review
Need more cashiers. Give customers doing their own shopping and most likely to make impulse buys, better customer service. Put scanners back so we can check a price since seldom find an employee to help.
Linda E — Google review
I am a truck driver. I place orders for delivery for the convenience and to try to keep myself out of the Walmart parking lots. I placed an order yesterday afternoon for delivery first thing this morning the driver was on the way but suddenly I received a message saying that they were unable to deliver it. The driver never arrived at my location I left detailed instructions as to where I was parked in the truck stop. I have done this multiple times and have never had an order fail to deliver. Shame on you North Platte Walmart higher better drivers
James E — Google review
I went to Walmart for an ink cartridge for my printer. I found them, but they were in a locked cabinet. I then went to the service desk and waited for someone to help me for almost 10 minutes. The cashier at the desk was helping someone else and then walked away to help him. In the meantime I saw several employees walking around, but no one offered to help. Then another employee came to the photo area, but didn’t seem to notice me. The cashier finished with the first customer and then finally helped me retrieve an ink cartridge. He rang it up and I paid for the purchase. I hadn’t even received my receipt before the cashier started talking to a friend. Where is the customer service? Oh wait! He seemed to be in his 20’s and they don’t know what good customer service is!!!
Lisa M — Google review
We're from So California. I thoroughly enjoyed shopping at your store. Everything is well stocked and some of the prices are comparable to our Walmarts. Great service deli, bakery items, fruits and etc. It was a pleasure shopping at your store.
Carmela G — Google review
I enjoy shopping in a clean store with uncluttered isles, stocked shelves, reasonable prices, and friendly, knowledgeable staff. Thank you.

Holiday RV Park

4.2
(693)
RV park
Holiday RV Park and Campground in North Platte, Nebraska is a top-notch camping facility that offers a warm welcome and excellent hospitality. The park is currently undergoing renovations to update the area, including the pool and bathrooms. Despite this, the sites are clean, easily accessible, and offer great views of both sunrise and sunset. The medium-sized park provides gravel sites with grassy areas in between, ensuring a peaceful atmosphere for guests.
The park is very clean and well-maintained. Staff were extremely friendly and welcoming, and since they’re all locals, they can easily point you in the right direction for anything you might need or want to explore. The renovated bathrooms are spotless and so nice to have available—definitely a big plus. The pool was a great bonus for relaxing during the hot afternoons. My dogs could always tell when a staff member was nearby—they knew they were about to get all the pets, lots of love, and of course a tasty treat! The only downside is that, since the park is within city limits, they aren’t allowed to have open fires—which would have been a nice touch in the evenings. We’re really hoping we get stationed in North Platte again so we can come back and visit with everyone! Overall, a great place to stay!
Alexis J — Google review
If it wasn't for the highway noise I would have given 5 stars. Very nice campground, shaded. We had a pull through, full hook up site with the option to stay longer if needed. Staff was kind enough to help and accommodate our stay as our truck broke down while we were heading home. I would stay again. Lots to do in the area. Stores and gas stations close by not to mention repair shop not too far.
Jemily H — Google review
Our experience at Holiday RV Park was very positive. The gals at registration were super-friendly and accommodating in getting us our spot. The RV spots are not paved but quite level. Upon checking the restrooms/showers they were virtually spotless with a freshly painted floor. The laundry was also bright and shiny. People were enjoying the clean and well-kept pool. Overnight the park was very quiet, no traffic noise, and we rested well. The camp grounds could use some landscaping but it didn’t spoil our stay at this pleasant RV park.
Diane S — Google review
This was a decent campground for an overnight stay with all of the amenities--water, sewer, electric, showers, etc. It could use a facelift as the playground equipment is quite old, but it is adequate for what you need, and the price was right. The bathrooms were very clean as were the showers (although the showers and the changing area were a bit small). I'd stay here again.
Linda S — Google review
Total dump of a park with sketchy residents. Was accosted by a resident after his dog charged me walking back to my rig after a shower. Spoke with the manager, she said she was going to discount our stay and she never did. Park is overgrown amd dumpy, stay elsewhere!! Bathroom and shower house was disgusting, see photos.
Darin C — Google review
Check-in was a breeze! The ladies in the office were absolutely wonderful—so kind and welcoming, they truly made us feel right at home. The only downside to our stay was the non-stop rain (wish we could’ve controlled that!). We did get a chance to enjoy the pool for a bit before the storms rolled in—and how cool is it that it’s shaped like Nebraska? Such a fun touch! Despite the weather, we had a great experience and are definitely looking forward to staying again!
Elizabeth B — Google review
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I’ve been traveling the country for the past two years — from Canada to Florida to New York — and I can honestly say Holiday RV Park in North Platte, Nebraska is one of the nicest RV parks I’ve come across. The people here are incredibly friendly, and the overall vibe is just warm and welcoming. The park itself is clean, well-maintained, and has a great atmosphere. One of the highlights is the big swimming pool — perfect for cooling off and relaxing after a long day on the road. What really stood out to me was the personal touch: one of the owners’ children even came around to see if I needed help taking my trash to the dumpster. That kind of thoughtfulness goes a long way. If you’re passing through or looking for a great spot to settle in for a bit, I highly recommend this place. Five stars all the way

Penny's Diner is a 24-hour dining spot with a classic American menu and a charming 50s-themed decor. The diner is housed in a unique train car design, adding to its appeal. Despite its small size, the cozy atmosphere adds to the overall charm of the place. The service is friendly and relaxed, allowing guests to enjoy their meals without feeling rushed. While some reviews mentioned cleanliness concerns in the kitchen area, others praised the fresh and tasty food served with a smile.
Got a chicken fried steak breakfast with French toast and a strawberry milkshake. All the food was amazing and heaven the server was excellent in checking to make sure I had a pleasant experience. Highly recommended!!
A D — Google review
Their grill was broken so they had a condensed menu, but that didn't stop the food from being any less delicious! The club sandwich and fries were delicious, and the mint chocolate chip (using Andes mints I think) has got to be the best shake I've had in a long time. The place has a nice theme, the workers were friendly and it's a great location for anyone on a road trip passing through or staying at one of the nearby hotels.
Kyle R — Google review
Such a cute and classic diner experience! Like the kind you see in the movies, with it's retro vibes and airstream-like exterior, offering all the best classic diner fare. Legitimately being open 24 hours is amazing too! Will definitely be bookmarking for future adventures out west, it's the perfect quintessential road trip stop. The service wasn't the "sweetest" at first, but honestly it added to the charm and experience, and she warmed up to us by the end :) Root beer float was just as good as you'd expect, and I had the Frisco melt burger which was delicious. Their t-shirts were so cute, I had to get one!!

Wife and I stopped in for some lunch yesterday and we were not disappointed in our decision to come here. Waitress was all smiles and very pleasant taking the orders. We both went with the classic diner food, meatloaf with mashed potatoes and a salad. Taste and texture was on point made for a very satisfying meal. We will be back.
Larry J — Google review
Really great diner with great service and good food! It was really busy when we were in so it took a bit of a while for the food to come out, but it was worth it
Arron H — Google review
Good food. Good amount and friendly staff. The bathrooms are nice, but there is a grease smell. Very small diner and locals hangout.

Very good food, my waitress was outstanding and very nice. She also cooked my food as well. I always stop in here when I come through.

Stopped here on a road trip with my family. My hubby and I have always talked about and wanted to try this place but never felt we had time or it wasn't meal time when passing through North Platte. We finally got to try it! My toddlers split a kids meal and each got a super chocolatey chocolate milk. Hubby and I each had a burger. They were delicious! I am a fry lover so I felt like I wanted more fries when the food was delivered but by the time I was done with my portion, I was full and satisfied. Price was very reasonable. We'll be back!

Fort Cody Trading Post is a must-visit in North Platte, resembling a frontier log stockade with mannequins and toy rifles outside. Inside, it's a mix of gift shop and museum featuring authentic Buffalo Bill Cody and Wild West memorabilia, along with a mechanized Wild West Show. This roadside attraction offers history and souvenirs, but be prepared for the minimum purchase requirement for credit card charges.
What a fun place. The museum was fun and informative. The artistry was very impressive. The gift shop was a lot of fun too. Lots of old school candies...a trip back in time. Well worth the stop!
BL W — Google review
I love this place! We made it a point to stop here on our trip. The museum is small, but it's a great place to get out and stretch your legs. It's conveniently located off the interstate and close to a lot of restaurants and hotels. The souvenir shop is excellent! They have stuff you can't find anywhere else. The prices are quite reasonable for a tourist stop. I will always stop here when traveling through North Platte.

Fun place to stop and pick up souvenirs. They have a cool working train set to view every 30 minutes. Lots of variety of things to buy. Great for kids

This is an absolute must see. There is a muffler man in the back and a 2-headed cow beside the miniature replica of Buffalo Bill’s show. So fun!

Stopped in while passing by on a road trip with my family! What a cool place! Souvenirs, candy, collectables, hand made items, lots of cool stuff to see in there, even a mini museum! 10/10 recommend stopping in on your way through! :)

A very cool place with lots of souvenirs and a large selection of books. The miniature Buffalo Bill Wild West Show is amazing.

Having lived in LeClaire, IA growing up, I was very familiar with the Buffalo Bill stories. Having traveled I-80 a lot, I've always wanted to stop in and visit this location. Nice shop, friendly staff and plenty of information to be found. Worth the stop!

Italian restaurant
Luigi's Italian Restaurant is a local favorite in North Platte, Nebraska, offering a wide array of delicious Italian dishes. The modest and low-key environment sets the stage for an authentic dining experience. Guests rave about the homemade bread and fresh daily offerings such as pastas, salads, pizza, and desserts. The Veal Marsala over spaghetti pasta and limoncello cake with mascarpone frosting are particularly popular choices.
Coming from Denver wasn’t sure what to expect as I was just driving through, everything was so good and my server was so amazing. I don’t usually leave reviews, but Cadien was one of the best servers I’ve ever had. So friendly and inquisitive. I watched him interact with the younger staff so politely. He was really informative and nice I can’t say it enough about awesome he was, especially listening to how he talked to everyone. I’m definitely it that patient. 5 stars for sure. Food was great on top of the service.
Richard H — Google review
The service was friendly and the food was good. We had spaghetti with meatballs and it came with a side salad and bread. The ranch dressing was excellent. The interior could use a bit of attention as the ceiling tiles are stained and the AC vents are really dirty.
Rock D — Google review
We discovered this place while visiting from Vancouver Washington. Yes, we were in beef country but after a couple days here in town, Italian sounded good. This place was amazing. We were greeted by a friendly staff and seated right away. The food was fantastic. We all tried different dishes from fettuccine alfredo, lasagna, pizza, chicken parmesan, and salad. Everything was cooked perfectly and tasted awesome. This place is a gem and we can't wait to return.
The C — Google review
We drove from Rapid City this morning and ended our night at Luigi's Italian restaurant. The entrees and the service were excellent. But instead of playing traditional Italian music, the background music is old country songs. I don't need Vivaldi or Puccini, but I'd like something that makes me feel like I'm in the region that aligns with the food. So I've got tears in my eyes when I'm trying to eat my salad, because I fall apart every time I hear Don't Take the Girl by Tim McGraw. I can't be the only one. Anyway, when that song ended, I ate every bit of food that was put in front of me (my wife ordered Fettuccine Alfredo and I got Pasta Primavera), and then got tears in my eyes again when our great server Rachel said they were out of crème brûlée. So many emotions in one meal. Anyway, this place is great, and I'd be happy to return.
Dan P — Google review
Alex greeted us as soon as we walked in and made us feel so welcome. Rachel was a wonderful server as well. The food was great. My sister and I had plenty of vegetarian options. We also enjoyed a nice glass of wine.

I’ve eaten here quite a bit over the last few years, the food is very good! The service is excellent! If you want pasta or pizza this place is second to none in north platte. It’s not fancy but man is there food good. Restaurant is clean and comfortable. Will continue to eat here and I highly recommend trying this place

AMAZING!!! Everything we had was delicious! My husband got the tour of Italy, I had a seafood pasta (can't remember the name), and our kids had spaghetti. The adult dinners came with a salad, I had the house Italian Dressing and it was seriously the best Italian Dressing I've had. The bread rolls were phenomenal. The service was spectacular and the price was better than we expected it to be. The next time we're in North Platte we'll definitely be back!! Sorry, no photos because we were so focused on how delicious everything was.

Their menu features an array of Mexican dishes that are both flavorful and satisfying, with highlights like the carne asada and perfectly cooked rice.
my family and i were in North Platte for the night on our cross country road trip. we were coming into town pretty late, we ordered food around 8 but put in the comments that we wouldn’t be there until closer to 9, when they closed. amazingly they noted that on our order, our food was hot, ready and delicious! thank you so much for your kind service and making a memorable pit stop for our trip!

Nice restaurant. Very busy night. Salsas were good. Chips good. Our family had mixed reviews as we were traveling through. This is not your standard, run of the mill Mexican food. It seems to be more authentic. Generally, I was pleased with my meal. With the pictures, these are the updated prices in July 2024.

This downtown eatery is renowned for its smoked meats and offers a diverse menu featuring barbecue, pizza, burgers, salads, and pasta alongside vegan options. Visitors have raved about the flavorful Pulled Pork sandwich and other delectable offerings.
The greeter was welcoming. Jacob was our waiter and he was very attentive and shared local things to do with us. We ordered the Brisket Nacho platter and it was incredible! Huge portion and very delicious!
Laraine S — Google review
I want to like this place. Being a local small business owner myself I love to really give the opportunity for a business to shine. This was my second time in and it was later in the evening. The brisket was burnt but decent, pretty dry, not sure if this was my fault for coming in so late. I ended up eating half of it as the burnt edges were not appetizing. My daughter got a grilled cheese which was literally 2 pieces of a bun that looked like it had some cheese microwave melted in between, the server saw she didn't even touch it and said nothing. If this is your version of BBQ and grilled cheese that's fine but the $50 price at the end is not worth me coming back unfortunately. The mac and cheese was yummy so I'll give you that.
Ley M — Google review
We waited 45 minutes for pretzel appetizers and over an hour for our entrees. The food wasn't terrible, but the service was definitely lacking. The smoked meats were tasty but barely warm when it got to our table.
Megan K — Google review
Very nice vibe to this place, clean, and has friendly staff. The food is super fun and has interesting choices my husband ordered a burger that had nacho cheese, little smokies, hot cheetos and bacon. HE LOVED IT. Huge portions for decent prices, plus happy hour between 3-6 is half a off appetizers which are also huge! Will go again for SURE!

Jacob M. Made our experience great. Super friendly service/ very helpful with menu choices. Food was great tasting/ very flavorful. Didn't have to wait long between ordering and food delivery. Absolutely a great lunch experience on our weekend train vacation.

AWESOME menu - I wanted to try just about everything. They stumbled a bit on the execution; my baked beans were cold, and the patty in my Good Life Burger was undercooked. My wife said her brisket "tasted like roast beef". While it fell short of "best experience ever", this place has real potential, and I'd like to give it another try.
Ken S — Google review
My cousin took us to Good Life when we were visiting North Platte. I am from the West Coast and consider myself a bit of a foodie. This restaurant could definitely hold its own in any of the bigger cities like Seattle Portland or San Francisco! In our group we had the hamburger with macaroni, The brisket jalapeno sandwich with no bread and a side of mashed potatoes and gravy and, I believe, a Southwest chicken wrap with coleslaw. We all agreed that the food was at least a nine and a half out of 10 if not a 10! Definitely recommend this place. Added bonus? It's in the downtown Canteen District so lots to see during your apres meal walk!!!!
Xa C — Google review
We were traveling through and Tim at Tru by Hilton recommended. It was fast delivery and delicious food! Hard to decide what to have since their menu was huge! We settled in Lobster Truffle Mac and Cheese and brisket.

Papa Murphy's | Take 'N' Bake Pizza is a popular chain outlet that offers customizable takeaway pizzas for customers to cook at home. During a recent visit, it was observed that the restaurant was bustling with activity. Upon entering, it became evident that the restroom needed attention and upon exiting, an overwhelmed employee named Kamron was noticed in the back working diligently with various white sauces. Despite being swamped, she managed to keep up with the fast-paced environment.
I had a great experience at Papa Murphy's! Ordering was a breeze, and the staff was friendly and welcoming. I tried the Chicken Bacon Artichoke pizza, which was delicious—fresh ingredients and amazing taste. I also got a Pepperoni and Onion pizza, and it was just as satisfying. We knew that we needed to try Runza when we went to Nebraska. (We're from the east coast) Did not disappoint! We had runzas, onion rings and a blueberry lemon shake. Oh my! So good. Generous portions. The staff was super kind. Everything was spotless. If we ever make it back to the area, Runza will be our first stop!

First time in Nebraska, first time eating a (cheese) runza. IT WAS DELICIOUS. Clean restaurant, great service. Also recommend the pomegranate passion lemonade, popcorn chicken, and crinkle fries.
Alexandra B — Google review
I dont know if this is what passes as a large fry container, maybe it is. If so, it only supports my complaint that everywhere you go they're giving you smaller portions at a higher price. I don't eat out often for this reason. However that's neither here nor there, my beef is with the fact that i pay to upsize my meal and not only is my fry only half full, there's more salt and ketchup in the fry container than there are fries. Is this a tactic to make the fries seem full or what? This is not the 1st, 2nd or 3rd time this has happened but it is the last. It has been 4 times in a row and I had hoped with the new location and a period of 5-6 months between my 3rd and 4th visit that it wouldn't be the same ol' bull$#¡+. I refuse to pay FOURTEEN dollars for a burger and fries only to be met with the same reoccurring theme of dissatisfaction. I mean, seriously, a monkey could do this job and yet i get a burger that 2 inches thick on one side and 5 inches thick on the other with more cheese on the wrapper than on the burger. I get that you guys hire teenagers but maybe train them to give a $#¡+ and have a lil pride in their work or get new ones because, although I consider your fries the absolute best, it's not worth my time, money or effort when this is consistently the end result. I doubt i will ever be back and that saddens me. The food is delicious. The execution is horrendous. Photos included. Aside from me unwrapping the burger, this is exactly how it was in the bag. I haven't eaten a single fry. But hey, no complaints on the soda. Smh

Kat greeted us as we walked in the door. She was very pleasant and complimented us on our food choices. I went to the counter three times for various needs I apologized for bothering her. She told me “you are not bothering me at all I’m glad I could help”. I would give her a 10 Star rating for excellent service. I hope review is shared with her.

Very slow service. We waited in the drive through for over 10 minutes for someone who just had ordered an ice cream cone. We got our order and they messed it up and gave us someone else's order so thankfully they caught it before we left and the runway we had were undercooked and fell apart the instant you bit into one. The fries and onion rings were good and the staff was at least friendly so that was a bonus.
Mandy M — Google review
Out of all the Runzas I've been to this one is my favorite because of the employees. They're customer service skills are amazing. Hopefully they'll see raises soon because they deserve it. The place is always clean and food is always spot on. Thank you to all of them!

1st time Runza customer here as we are from out of state. I ordered an Original Runza, a cheese Runza and a Blueberry Lemon Shake. Quick and friendly service! The shake was delicious but we were not fans of the Runza. If we lived in the area, we would certainly give them another try but order something different than Runzas.
Linda H — Google review
If you are familiar with bierock and have never tried Runza, you must. It is the fast food equivalent and very good. We don't have Runza in Arizona, so we pick up a frozen dozen Originals and take them home to enjoy.

One notable feature is the ability to customize your own meal, which allows customers to try new and diverse combinations at an affordable price. The grilled steak was particularly delicious, and the wait time was minimal due to efficient service. Multiple payment options provided a seamless experience.
The people were friendly and the burrito had a good taste! I loved pinto beans. I eat a cheese quesadilla was good !

All of the reviews I read were exactly spot on. Every employee here was friendly and courteous and helpful to help us find something to eat. YUMMO!! I’ve never had a bowl of Mexican food before and it was excellent

The food was fresh, the place was somewhat clean (sticky floors and unwashed tables), and the bathrooms were clean. Great value for what we got (I'm shocked he was able to fold the burrito without it rupturing).

First time trying this restaurant, was excited as I saw a TikTok ad about their habanero lime steak. They gave me a giant piece of an onion , I asked for salsa roja they gave me chip salsa ?? It was disgusting and ruined the burrito.

Tazan is AMAZING!! Not sure what to order?? Let the young man fix you up. He's friendly, fast, and he knows what to put together to make incredible food. All the staff here is nice but I had to give a shout out to this one because he's truly a valuable employee and I hope this restaurant treasures him.

Good food & friendly staff! Was not impressed to see employees standing around as trash was overflowing, lids/straws were not stocked, drink station was out of ice & dirty & no clean open tables. Edited to Add: I reached out per the response I received and the manager did contact me.

Sandwich shop
Jimmy John's is a popular counter-service chain that focuses on crafting delicious sub and club sandwiches, complemented by their signature potato chips. During my visit, I was truly impressed by the staff's kindness and professionalism. They went above and beyond when I ordered an extra sandwich for someone in need, showcasing the goodness of humanity. The atmosphere was welcoming, with a clean environment where even the new hires were friendly and engaging. It's heartwarming to see such dedicated employees making a positive impact while serving up tasty meals!
I cannot say how happy I am with the employees of this store. I regret not getting their names, but I had went back in to order another sandwich for someone that was homeless and they took care of it. I love there is good people in this world
David P — Google review
The store opens at 10am. The neon light was on. It was after 10am. The door was still locked. I called. He said they were busy doing a catering order and wouldn’t be opening for awhile. When I said that this needed to be reported to corporate, his response was feel free to go ahead and do it. Wow, the service there is horrid.
Kali M — Google review
The food always tastes good but they almost always for get the add ons with my sandwichs I'm not sure if it just that app or the people working don't care
Shasta F — Google review
First my online order wasn't even on the rack I had to wait in line and get it and then secondly I get a Del Taco cup Jimmy John's. I'd called after I was off of work to explain my frustration and spoke to DJ after this whole incident and DJ proceeded to hang up on me because he didn't want to hear what I had to say. This is the worst customer service I've ever had any Jimmy John's and I'm hoping this situation can be brought to the owners attention. What happened to customers service?
Michael G — Google review
No chicken in the over $10 chicken wrap! Tried to call to rectify it but no one answers their phone here. Check #134 today at 3:00 pm
Whitney S — Google review
The picture shows half of my $15 sandwich, a giant slim 4 with cheese. The other half was the same sad story. We picked up sandwiches driving through town on our way home, as we have done several times before. We were already back on the interstate when I unwrapped my sandwich to find hardly anything between the bread. If this is how they make a $15 sandwich now, we won't be stopping there any more. Embarrassing.
Ray L — Google review
They have messed up my orders consistently for the past few months, not sure if they hired new people but the service here is absolutely awful. I have had to send almost every sandwich I get from them back. Recently, an incident happened that has caused me to lose trust and faith in this establishment, which is unfortunate because I used to really enjoy the food. I have allergies, which I always make clear, and I was served a sandwich that had been made incorrectly and then had those ingredients sloppily scraped off, serving the same bread/other ingredients, but covered in the residue of an allergen- incredibly dangerous, I’m lucky I had someone try it for me first. If they screwed up once or twice or even three times, I would give it a pass. But it has been every. single. time. If you don’t want terrible service, suspiciously hard bread, oddly chewy meat and workers who are visibly high, don’t waste your time and money on this JJ’s. :(

Day 2

Off the beaten path
For day 2, if you don’t mind the extra trek, today covers more off the beaten path places like Golden Spike Tower. Not quite as popular as Lincoln County Historical Museum, but still highly rated among many travelers. Accounting for getting around and average time spent, today’s activities could take about 8 hours.

Tower with open-air & enclosed observation areas for viewing the sprawling rail yard below.
This place is fascinating, I loved it. Short video on the history and some more museum-like displays up on the top floor; excellent 360° views. One floor down is the open air viewing area and it's amazing, I think I could watch the trains move about all day. SO MANY TRAINS. Cute gift shop, lots of parking.
Alexandra B — Google review
If you like/love trains it is extremely interesting. Even if you aren't into trains it is still an amazing sight. There is lots of information. Everyone working here was extremely kind and helpful. The had a scavenger hunt of facts for the kids so that helped keep my daughter busy. Very nice and enjoyable.
Michelle I — Google review
Really cool place! Plenty of parking, clean restrooms and facilities. Multiple video displays to learn about the rail yard, history, etc. And then of course, the tower and the view. The top of the tower is climate controlled and features displays and a volunteer answering questions along with sweeping views of the yard and the surrounding area. The next level down is the open air deck, which offers a great view of the yard along with all the sounds that go with it. Both levels have telescopes, but I recommend bringing your own binoculars to enhance the viewing experience. Dogs on leashes are welcome in all spaces, inside and outside, and they even offer treats. They also have designated pet play areas with clean up bags, and it seems every pet parent has been responsible for cleaning up, because those areas were free of unpleasant surprises. Great gift shop too, though they did not have my size in the shirt I wanted. The staff member on site directed me to their online store. Snacks and drinks also available, along with free coffee.
Belynda W — Google review
Great visit, and a great location for any train enthusiasts. Perfect view of a large yard, and maintenance shop with full view of everything. The "hump" launching cars to be sorted automatically is a major feat of engineering that would impress anyone-a whole train load of cars goes over the "hump" and everything gets sorted in proper order down multiple tracks as easily as dealing out a deck of cards. There is a museum with of history all around the location. You can watch multiple videos of the evolution of passenger trains to transport innovations. Many Presidential candidates used this same location for waypoints during campaign trails, and they even have examples of the meals you would have been served during that time period. Worth a visit if only to see the history.
Helpdeskneko — Google review
It's hard to understand the scope of this place. It's eight miles long. There are train cars as far as I can see. It's like a ballet that powers our economy. The video was helpful and a cool look into the history of the operation in North Platte. Highly recommend a visit. Discounted tickets for veterans!
Dan P — Google review
We had a great time at the Golden Spike tower. The kids really liked seeing the trains connect and sort the cars. They have a little museum and gift shop. Go up the elevator and see the observation deck with more information and is in closed. There is a volunteer to answer questions that is a previous train employee. Then go to the open air deck and hear the trains. Awesome quick stop.
Murphys O — Google review
Before you take the elevator to the 8th floor of the tower, watch the informative movie. A retired rail worker is on the enclosed 8th floor museum that overlooks Bailey yard. The 7th floor has open air viewing for the best pictures.
Marilyn M — Google review
The world's largest train marshaling yard. You could spend hours here just watching the trains while drinking a coffee. Everywhere you look there is something going on. It starts at the bottom of the tower with an informative video presentation, and then an elevator ride to the indoor viewing area which also has a number of artefacts on show. There was a member of staff available at the viewing area to explain what was happening outside, but it was fun just watching. There is also an outdoor viewing balcony if you want to hear and smell what is going on too!

Buffalo Bill Ranch State Historical Park is a fascinating destination in North Platte, offering a glimpse into the Wild West era. The park features Buffalo Bill's historic ranch, including his 1886 mansion, barn, and various outbuildings filled with Cody memorabilia. Visitors can explore the grounds, go horseback riding through Dusty Trails, and enjoy hiking trails and fishing at the state recreation area.
Wow! North Platte knows how to do parks! Huge trees, wild animals (caged, not roaming around), carnival rides, food, .... We had a blast!
Darcy H — Google review
There is a fee for admission ($35 and up for a day pass as I recall), which is higher for out of state visitors, so I basically drove through the parking lot and moved along. The rodeo arena next door however, had an event going on with free entry, so opted for that. I would have liked to have learned more about Buffalo Bill. Perhaps some historical marker signage closer to the road.
Jeanette W — Google review
A historical home that is beautifully designed and well maintained. Pictures of Buffalo Bill's family and friends are on display throughout his home. The 148 ft. barn has Buffalo Bill posters, wagons, carriages, saddles, pictures of Annie Oakley, a diorama of Buffalo Bills's family etc.
Marilyn M — Google review
Fun little area to check out, if you like Buffalo Bill! We also found a geocache while there! It was fun to walk around and see the house and the fields that make up the ranch
Elyri — Google review
Interesting historical mansion with lots of photos and memorabilia of Wiiliam F. "Buffalo Bill" Cody. Apparently, he earned his name for slaughtering over 4,000 buffalos. Thereafter, he was employed as an army soldier, somewhere in his life, as a showman. He performed wild west shows throughout the country and became very successful.
Maria P — Google review
We did not get a chance to see the building due to the fact that they are closed on Mondays. Though we did walk around got a few great pics love the place.

Nestled in the Historic Canteen District, The Cedar Room is a charming American Fusion restaurant with a modern rustic ambiance. Adorned with cedar wood, oak floors, and a copper ceiling, it offers an inviting atmosphere for diners. The menu features a diverse selection of American Fusion Cuisine to cater to various tastes. Visitors can indulge in delectable dishes such as the bacon burger and French dip sandwich while enjoying exceptional service from the friendly staff.
Wow, what a pleasant surprise. This restaurant was recommended to me by the front staff at the Holiday Inn Express. I asked for a locally owned steak restaurant. The food was excellent, the staff were extremely friendly and the location had a lot of enjoyable ambiance. I chose the special ribeye with bacon and green beans along with the charcuterie board as a starter. As a bonus, the bar has a wide wine and whiskey selection. Enjoy a hearty meal.

From Minnesota passing through. We were surprised to get such generous size steaks in comparison to what we get at Mn steak restaurants. Very tender and delicious. Happy we stopped by. Also loved the way the place looked. The service was great.

We were staying in town visiting from Vancouver, Washington. We like to eat at local restaurants rather than a chain establishment. Being in beef country, we asked around where we could get a good steak dinner, time and time agin the Cedar Room was mentioned. We entered and were greeted by very friendly staff and taken right to a table. The inside of the restaurant was so nice and inviting. Turns out it was remodeled by the owner when he bought the place several years back. We started off with delicious onion rings and drinks I asked our server what they were famous for, she replied "Well our chicken fried steak is a favorite". Being my favorite meal and having tried countless variations over the years, including my favorite receipt cooked by my mom, well...sorry mom, the Cedar Room is now in first place. It was absolutely the best I have ever had. My wife tried the steak medallions and loved the flavor. Each of the kids got there own steaks. Everything was cooked to perfections and tasted fantastic. We finished off our meals with homemade deserts. This place is fantastic. Give this place a try, you will not be disappointed.

Rain was amazing, made us feel welcome and was quite charming. We had steak medallions and the bacon burger. So delicious. Burger was juicy, bacon perfectly crisp but still meaty. Veggie toppings were fresh and generous. Steak medallions flavorful, medium rare, sauce was delicious. Very pleasant experience. Beef always tastes better in Nebraska and The Cedar room did not disappoint.

I was in the area for a bit and decided to eat here! WOW not only is the decor really awesome but the food was amazing! I had the mushroom Brie app and the charcuterie (took half of it home) both were super yummy!! I can’t remember the name of the woman who served me (blonde with glasses) she was really attentive and friendly! We had a great conversation about traveling ☺️ All around this place is a must!! If you're on the lookout for a delightful dining experience, look no further than Pizza Ranch in North Platte! This charming buffet chain captures the essence of an Old West theme while serving up a mouthwatering array of options. From their freshly made single topping and specialty pizzas to The Country's Best Chicken, every bite is sure to please. The buffet is always brimming with delicious sides and desserts that will satisfy any craving.
Stopped here on our way through, Easy to get to, and had plenty of parking for truck and 34 foot travel trailer. First impression was it was very clean and food bar seemed to be ready to serve. Tables were far enough apart to give plenty of room. Clean plates and silverware. Food bar was stocked with fresh food and what I liked was that after so many people through the line they changed out to clean servers so that they were clean . If you don't see the crust for you, just ask amd they will make one with your crust you want. A ++++

We saw the sign for Pizza Ranch along I-80. Sounded really good so went the few extra miles, 100, to anorth Platte. Staff was friendly. Was able to order a gluten free pizza and it was one of the best I have had. Family, husband and two granddaughters had the buffet. Fresh pizza and other food items. Staff was always visible and taking done plates. Thank you for a great lunch.

I am fond of basic Chinese cuisine such as Sesame chicken, fried rice, and crab Rangoon. The fried rice and Rangoon were excellent, but the Sesame chicken had a different taste from what I'm used to in a sweet and sour sauce. The chicken lacked flavor and required more salt. However, overall I had an enjoyable experience at this restaurant. It is a great place for those who like salty food.
If you haven't tried the Dan Dan Noodles you absolutely should! I get extra Cilantro. It's hearty, spicy and packed full of flavor!

Better than we expected passing through. Definitely a step above normal North Platte offerings. The waitress didn't really know the menu well, but tried her best to be responsive to questions. The sushi side of the menu is quite sizeable. We only tried a few things as a snack. The sushi chef was friendly and also helpful.

My family and I loved this place for a long time, but now we do not. The food was normally amazing! But until recently we have had poor quality food. We have had fuzzy hairs ALL OVER the sushi, and my drink had a fly in it and when I asked for a new one they did not bring a new glass but the SAME one and the fly was still in it. The food was very plane from what it use to be and very dry. And nomrally when we go we expect to wait a while, 15-25 mins but normally its worth it. But we were waited an hour for bad food that I spent $105 on...

I’m a huge sushi eater and have eaten these delicate pieces of food all over the country. We stopped here by chance while traveling and had an amazing surprise. The food is delicious and is served as it is made which means that the seaweed will not get soggy. The size of each portion is really good and prices are on point. There is a huge variety on the menu and the staff is very friendly as well. I don’t think there is anything bad I could say about this place. Super recommended!

So I guess if you order Chinese food in Nebraska you shouldn't expect too much. I didn't expect much, but they failed to even come close to my low expectations. Literally the worst Chinese food i have ever had. I ordered orange chicken and Mc Donalds could have done a better job.

This popular delivery and carryout chain offers an extensive menu featuring not just a variety of pizzas but also an array of sides and other dishes to satisfy any craving. Many customers rave about their seamless ordering process through the app, which makes it easy to customize your pizza with all your favorite toppings.
Stopped by for some lunch, decided to just order and pick up at the store. Crew was friendly and polite even though it was 12PM so they were busy for lunch. Store was clean my Pizza was good, so I’ll be back.

Garbage service. Waited 5 minutes past projected time to pick up my pizza, showed up and got told "it's gonna be a minute". I inquired how long and was told "20-25 minutes". So these guys hadn't even touched my order. No apology, no offer for a refund or a comp, no remorse whatsoever. Garbage service. I hope to escalate this as high as it is able to be escalated, you guys don't deserve to hold the name of my favorite pizza chain. Every single time I come here, I'm met with incompetence. Just get Little Caesars, it's cheaper. No point in paying premium price for subpar service.

I usually like the food but this time my pizza was cold and kinda burnt. In the end I only ate the cinnamon twists cause they were the only things good. I fed the pizza to the birds and even they wouldn't eat it. A few dogs showed interest but refused it so I just threw the rest away. I had the 2 for $6.99 special. I think I'll order elsewhere. The driver Trenton was on time and polite so at least their drivers are nice

Hands down my favorite place to order pizza! Always have great coupons also. Shout out to my delivery driver Dakota! He was polite and quick delivery according to the tracker!

Ordered delivery and the last 2 times I have had to put my pizza in the oven to warm it up due to it being cold. One time there was a long hair in it. The tracker says its cooked and checked foe quality but then they have them sit there 30 to 45 mins after they are cooked before they deliver them.

10 times better than Pizza Hut at less than half the money. The thin crust and the pan crust are excellent. Parmesan bites and jalapeno bacon cheesy bread are great too.

I've always had friendly service, quick deliveries and accurate food. And it tastes amazing!
