The 15 best bars and drinks in North Platte

We dropped into Pals for a bite and a few drinks after a long day of driving and enjoyed it immensely! he atmosphere is lively, casual, and fun. It's a huge establishment with lots of indoor and outdoor spaces and plenty of staff to service both. The outdoor patio features a beautiful spacious lawn, with fire pits and loud music. I tried a Bloody Mary and a Cucumber Mule from their cocktails, and Carrie had a strawberry rhubarb (not a typo) and a pineapple beer. All were delicious. And my Mary came with a chaser beer - our server recommended the pickle to compliment the drink and he was spot on. We ordered the Hawaiian pizza and it was delicious, with a thin crunchy crust and plenty of cheese and ham. Drinks and pizza together it was an excellent meal, and combined with the party vibe and rambunctious crowd the whole experience was just awesome. We'll make sure to include Pals on our itinerary anytime we're passing within 100 miles of this place. It really was great.

Pals Brewing Company was a great find as we travelled through North Platt. We were looking for a place to camp with our camper and they graciously let us stay with our Harvest Host subscription even though it was late. The salad, pizza and beer were delicious thanks to the chef and brewmaster. The entire staff are super friendly and helpful. The outdoor fun space is great for entertainment with horseshoe pits, corn hole, beach volleyball court and other games. We are so glad we found this place. Definitely a place we will return to as we travel through again. Thanks Pals staff for a wonderful experience.

We stayed here overnight as members of Harvest Hosts (RVers overnights) and couldn’t have asked for a more accommodating and friendly venue! Their location is on outskirts of town with the most incredible view of the Nebraska sky! Of course we experienced the Keegans Pizza and Spinach Salad with Bleu Cheese, Walnuts, and Cranberries!!! So good!!! The employees were ALL INCREDIBLE and so friendly! Great place! Our dogs loved the bark park too! Thanks for accommodating us! Loved everything!

We are members of Harvest Host and saw it from their website. What GREAT STAY!!! FOOD. BEER and all kinds of FUN!!! They are pet friendly, kid friendly and FUN friendly. The wait staff are so friendly. Definitely a great overnight stop.

We have had the pleasure of camping at Pals Brewery 3 times and make it a point to spend an evening here when we are traveling thru town. Great beer and very tasty pizzas. The staff provides excellent service and are most accommodating. I enjoyed the pickle beer ( really, it is very good) and we had their Wisconsin Pizza even though we are from MN. Lots of outdoor games to keep everyone entertained and Very Dog Friendly

Outstanding selection of beers 🍻(Chameleon Hazy IPA & Jalapeño Cream Ale) Excellent appetizers (PAL’s Chicken Chorizo Nachos) and Amazing Pizza 🍕 options (Jalapeño Popper Pizza) We stopped off in North Platte on a Road Trip to South Dakota Mount Rushmore area and are we ever glad we did! Take our advice and stop in for a drink and enjoy some great Pizza and appetizers that will make you add this STOP 🛑 to your cross country travel plans. We will be back for sure!

We stopped at Pal’s for our second time traveling across I 80. They have an area for RVs to stay thru Harvest Host. a great place just off the interstate at North Platte. The pizza is fabulous. The beers are terrific especially the Irish Stout. My daughter is a celiac and had their gluten-free option for pizza. she liked the pizza lot and although they do not have a dedicated oven, she did not get sick. The staff is great and very friendly. Don’t pass up Pal’s.

Nice restaurant. Very busy night. Salsas were good. Chips good. Our family had mixed reviews as we were traveling through. This is not your standard, run of the mill Mexican food. It seems to be more authentic. Generally, I was pleased with my meal. With the pictures, these are the updated prices in July 2024.

Fast service. Excellent Mexican food! Huge portions. We had a combo plate and a Deluxe Chili Verde Burrito. Everything was delicious. Took half home.

Really love this place and the service and food was wonderful. The table and the menu were sticky... This may have been an off night or have maybe been sitting at the only sticky table... But that's my only reason for giving it a three!

Pizza Hut has always been my fav but it seems in OK they are hit or miss! This one is was amazing. The waiter had our food out as soon as it came out if the oven. He was attentive and made our visit enjoyable!

Always so good! One of my favorite places to eat in town, the Chicken tortilla soup and also the shrimp salad are so good! Vierne is such a great waitress and the men working are kind also.

Okay place to eat if you don't have any other options. Quiet authentic place to get your brewed coffee, nothing fancy, which is fine. Ordered two brewed coffee and hot beef sandwiches with mashed potatoes and gravy (highly processed meat that was barely warm+instant mashed potatoes and instant gravy with it on two slices of white bread😋) and all of it for 27.31 with tax, seen other reviews saying that it's a reasonable price is simply not true. Overall do not recommend.

We were visiting from Phx Az. The waitress was very young and was Awsesome. She suggested menu items that were on special and inexpensive. The cook was present and was also helpful. I would give the staff a 10, Plus. Freak dining place for those out of towers looking for a nice home style place. Tim and Pam Potts San Tan Valley Az.

We arrived approximately at 1030 on Mother's Day. I understand it's Mother's Day. We waited twenty minutes to put our order in, then a little after twelve, I had to confront a waitress and tell her if our order wasn't there in 5 minutes, we were leaving. They slapped something together for us. The bacon look like it was still raw? They said they'd take it off the bill; went to pay the bill and was charged Full price for everything I do not recommend this place. Several tables came in after us, and were served before, one of which had already left

Great staff and customer service! Was door dashing at the time, and caught them on their transition from breakfast to lunch menu, so I had to wait a minute to get my order. But what do you do? Awesome people. When I came back to feed myself (yes, even the door dash guy needs to eat) again, nothing but awesome! Great prairie soul food. Nothing but love and respect!

Waited 46 minutes for a meatloaf sandwich with mashed potatoes that was cold, no warmth when brought out. Waitress never came back to our table to check on us. When we told at the register about the food/service experience, it was basically ignored, but didn’t hesitate to tell us our check amount.

My husband is so good at picking out restaurants but today was a bummer. His club sandwich was so good but I ordered the chicken fried steak sandwich with cream potatoes and brown gravy was a disappointment! While traveling out west or Midwest I love trying out the different chicken fried steaks but this was unlike any other. The mystery meat was tough and chewy! The creamed potatoes were instant just as the brown gravy! At least they did have Coke products. No I didn’t eat my meal my husband shared his sandwich with me. I am not a negative type reviewer but I do believe it is important to let viewers know the truth. I have helped over 3 million viewers so I do know a little about food!

I want to like this place. Being a local small business owner myself I love to really give the opportunity for a business to shine. This was my second time in and it was later in the evening. The brisket was burnt but decent, pretty dry, not sure if this was my fault for coming in so late. I ended up eating half of it as the burnt edges were not appetizing. My daughter got a grilled cheese which was literally 2 pieces of a bun that looked like it had some cheese microwave melted in between, the server saw she didn't even touch it and said nothing. If this is your version of BBQ and grilled cheese that's fine but the $50 price at the end is not worth me coming back unfortunately. The mac and cheese was yummy so I'll give you that.

We waited 45 minutes for pretzel appetizers and over an hour for our entrees. The food wasn't terrible, but the service was definitely lacking. The smoked meats were tasty but barely warm when it got to our table.

Very nice vibe to this place, clean, and has friendly staff. The food is super fun and has interesting choices my husband ordered a burger that had nacho cheese, little smokies, hot cheetos and bacon. HE LOVED IT. Huge portions for decent prices, plus happy hour between 3-6 is half a off appetizers which are also huge! Will go again for SURE!

Jacob M. Made our experience great. Super friendly service/ very helpful with menu choices. Food was great tasting/ very flavorful. Didn't have to wait long between ordering and food delivery. Absolutely a great lunch experience on our weekend train vacation.

AWESOME menu - I wanted to try just about everything. They stumbled a bit on the execution; my baked beans were cold, and the patty in my Good Life Burger was undercooked. My wife said her brisket "tasted like roast beef". While it fell short of "best experience ever", this place has real potential, and I'd like to give it another try.

My cousin took us to Good Life when we were visiting North Platte. I am from the West Coast and consider myself a bit of a foodie. This restaurant could definitely hold its own in any of the bigger cities like Seattle Portland or San Francisco! In our group we had the hamburger with macaroni, The brisket jalapeno sandwich with no bread and a side of mashed potatoes and gravy and, I believe, a Southwest chicken wrap with coleslaw. We all agreed that the food was at least a nine and a half out of 10 if not a 10! Definitely recommend this place. Added bonus? It's in the downtown Canteen District so lots to see during your apres meal walk!!!!

We were traveling through and Tim at Tru by Hilton recommended. It was fast delivery and delicious food! Hard to decide what to have since their menu was huge! We settled in Lobster Truffle Mac and Cheese and brisket.

From Minnesota passing through. We were surprised to get such generous size steaks in comparison to what we get at Mn steak restaurants. Very tender and delicious. Happy we stopped by. Also loved the way the place looked. The service was great.

We were staying in town visiting from Vancouver, Washington. We like to eat at local restaurants rather than a chain establishment. Being in beef country, we asked around where we could get a good steak dinner, time and time agin the Cedar Room was mentioned. We entered and were greeted by very friendly staff and taken right to a table.The inside of the restaurant was so nice and inviting. Turns out it was remodeled by the owner when he bought the place several years back. We started off with delicious onion rings and drinks I asked our server what they were famous for, she replied "Well our chicken fried steak is a favorite". Being my favorite meal and having tried countless variations over the years, including my favorite receipt cooked by my mom, well...sorry mom, the Cedar Room is now in first place. It was absolutely the best I have ever had. My wife tried the steak medallions and loved the flavor. Each of the kids got there own steaks. Everything was cooked to perfections and tasted fantastic. We finished off our meals with homemade deserts. This place is fantastic. Give this place a try, you will not be disappointed.

Rain was amazing, made us feel welcome and was quite charming. We had steak medallions and the bacon burger. So delicious. Burger was juicy, bacon perfectly crisp but still meaty. Veggie toppings were fresh and generous. Steak medallions flavorful, medium rare, sauce was delicious. Very pleasant experience. Beef always tastes better in Nebraska and The Cedar room did not disappoint.

This place is outstanding.. from the food, to the atmosphere. Greeted as we entered the door. Our server Jordan T was excellent. Very professional and friendly. The crab cakes are the best I have come across in the Midwest. Food was hot and delicious.

I was in the area for a bit and decided to eat here! WOW not only is the decor really awesome but the food was amazing! I had the mushroom Brie app and the charcuterie (took half of it home) both were super yummy!! I can’t remember the name of the woman who served me (blonde with glasses) she was really attentive and friendly! We had a great conversation about traveling ☺️ All around this place is a must!! I don’t normally take photos of my food but this was too pretty not to post! Thank you for the wonderful food and friendliness!!

Probably the best steak I’ve ever had. The walleye was unbelievably good, but macaroni and cheese was the best I’ve ever had and the risotto was delicious. Elena, our server was awesome. Highly recommend this place. Wonderful, mid America low-key casual, but delicious food.. better than East Coast.

This place is awesome. The decor is really cool. The service is great. Or server actually forgot to bring our drink but then she removed it from the bill and brought the drink anyways. We had the medium well grilled salmon and it was out of this world! The food was served piping hot. The complimentary hot bread rolls were very good as well.

Very nice atmosphere. Dan the manager was very welcoming. The staff overall were very competent even while being trained. I had the dry age delmonico served medium rare and it was excellent. Worth the stop. Most likely one of the best restaurants in Nebraska.

Alexis was AMAZING! We came in for my sister in laws bridal party celebration and had a couple drinks. Drinks were spectacular! Highly recommend their espresso martini! They brought us a complimentary shot for our celebration and we even got free muffins to take home even though didn’t order dinner. Can’t wait to eat it! Love this place soooooooo much!!!!

Wow! Such a great experience. We sat on the lounge side. Probably make a reservation if you want the dining room side. Everything is beautiful. You get details here you won't find many places. The architecture and design is so amazing. The giant front door! There's live piano music on the lounge side. Fire features, cloth coasters. Wait staff who work together to get your food to you on time or refill your water when you are out. But they do it in a way that doesn't interrupt. There's no extra perky, chatty "Can I getcha s'more water?!" No, no...real humans there to make sure you not only enjoy the food, but enjoy the experience. The rolls were so fluffy, slightly sweet with butter and flake salt, served in a warm cast iron skillet. We split a steak with two sides so we'd have room for dessert. I loved the au gratin potatoes. You can get a wide variety of wines here, cocktails, mocktails...there are live lobsters swimming around in a tank! (I mean, trigger warning because I know that's not everyone's thing, killing the lobster. But dude, how often would a person get fresh lobster in Nebraska?) We both got the North 40 Old Fashioned and they do not mess around. GREAT flavor, no skimping, Luxardo cherry, in-house made bitters, demarera gum syrup. We asked for two of the rolls to go and they gave us muffins along with as well as a classy book of toothpicks. We also ordered dessert, which was beautiful, a cheesecake, or a take on cheesecake garnished with mint and a blackberry. We had to leave though because time got away from us and our dog takes meds on a schedule. The server I asked about boxing the cheesecake made sure we knew that it wouldn't look the same boxed, thougtful. But I explained. When he brought us our to go bag, he said "tell your dog I said hi"...which is so sweet. A great bumper sticker, but gave me a smile. Also Jim, the pianist. He was very good. He played everything from Gershwin to Bach to Billy Joel to Alicia Keys! ❤️🎶 Look, you want to save up for this, it's on the pricey side. And I'm sure some restaurants in New York would bristle at things like, the combo of tin ceiling and modern chandeliers, or the view of grain bins and Pizza Ranch from the lounge. It's a combo of marble and rustic. But it is the perfect vibe for central and western Nebraska fine dining. We'll be back!

We were driving east after a three week, cross-country road trip and this was the BEST MEAL of the trip. The staff was friendly, professional, and went out of their way to ensure we had a perfect dining experience. We spoke with the manger who told us a bit about the background of the restaurant. But, the most important thing was the delicious meal. We live on the east coast. Unfortunately for us, the best beef must stay in Nebraska. We had the tenderloin filet and the ribeye, and both were the best we have ever eaten. Driving east after visiting National Parks out west can be a bit of a letdown. However North 40 Chophouse provided a memorable evening and a fine dining experience. My only regret is we live so far away.....

This place has it together. They know what they are doing. Tried the steak and lamb chops and a blue fin tuna appetizer. Incredible. Beautiful restaurant. I believe this is a classy place with good food that you can bring your date to, and all will be satisfied. Chloe is great. She’s working for you.

Immediately walking in all I saw was old people it stunk in there and it was so hot! I felt like I was at a nursing home #genz. Our food was okay nothing surprising about. Some people missing what they ordered #nopotatosalad. When we finally got the bill we tried to split it up and they made so difficult! They took advantage of our young age and they added extra items to the bill that we had not ordered…. And to top it all off our waitress was not friendly at all. LASTLY AL CAPONE WAS NOT PRESENT!!!!!! NEITHER WAS MARTIN LUTHAR KING!!!! Most of this is dead serious I’m extremely disappointed

Everything about this experience was great! The dinner was hot, fresh and tasty. The Elvis pie was also good and not too sweet but just right. The ladies working are friendly and personable. 10/10 recommend.

My husband and I came to the restaurant after being on the road all day. He ordered roast beef and baked potato while I had the grilled chicken and potato as well. My husband also wanted to try the cheese curds, and we are so glad he did! All of the food was delicious!! Andrew C. did a fabulous job serving us. He gave us the time we needed to choose our foods, and made sure we had everything we needed. We will be back again!!

From the salad, fresh green beans, and hamburger steak it all was excellent. The hamburger steak was cooked exactly to my liking. The blue berry pie was a great way to end the meal. Service was excellent as well.

Rachel was amazing from start to finish. She made us feel welcome right away and checked in just enough without hovering. She remembered little details about our order and made sure we had everything we needed. You can tell she cares about her guests and actually enjoys what she does. She kept things running smooth, had great timing, and made the whole experience more fun. If every server was like Rachel eating out would always be a good time.

Gotta say when traveling between Colorado Springs and Winona, Mn finding a good spot for breakfast can be a bit of a challenge. Food isnt’ all that great and service is only a wee better than that usually. But that’s not the case here at Capones. First off, Christy server was PRO! Sweet, knew the menu, worked a room of 30+ folks like a pro just her and humans just don’t get a whole lot nicer than her. She’d kill it back home in COS and put many a server to shame. Bet she’s a local legend. Next the story behind the name, seen some bad concepts and seemed odd a place in western NE was named after a Chicago mob legend. But the back of the menu filled you in on why. Turns out North Platte was quite the hot spot during the dark days known as prohibition and kept free men free of such silly laws. What about the food you ask? Well first off the sausage patty is the best I’ve had, equally to my fav in Santa Fe NM that a James Beard award winning chef makes in house. Blown away. The sourdough bread was a smart option for my toast and it was so good I’m thinking it’s made in house or local maybe. Sure isn’t the cheapest option form Cisco most places use. Hash browns were solid and a little gravy on them wasn’t a bad idea (thanks for the tip Christy!). There are many places I won’t ever go back to (Penny’s Diner) on I-80, but I’ll be back to Capones. May even try to get here for dinner because they are on the Nebraska Beef Passport and bet the burger is surreal.

Only gets a 3 because the servers were nice and friendly. Otherwise a dive. Neither of us finished our burgers. Reminded us of the the gross steamed ones they served in elementary school in the 70s and no amount of smothering in condiments helped. $40 was a lot for 2 horrible burgers and 2 sodas. Very much seemed like a place the older locals hang out to throw their money away on gambling, or sit at the bar and drink their troubles away.

The bartenders are friendly and sweet. We did not have food but the drinks were good. Also, I left my debit card there after we paid cash for our tab. We live 3 hours away and they mailed my card back to me so I didn’t have to cancel it. Would absolutely recommend this bar and these people!!!

Foods good and the pla e is mostly for adults. They have keno and video slots. The employee's where friendly and was the owners.

My husband and I went for a quick dinner and ran into another couple that we joined. We had a horrible time trying to get service as the 3 wait staff were too busy talking to the bartender and ignoring their tables. My husband had to go to the bar to get our drinks. It was not a busy night, we were one of 5 tables which included a party of 10. Two other tables walked out as no one would acknowledge them. Considering how good the food and drinks are, if you have a great wait staff, they should be making bank. I know how I tip and if I had gotten better service, our server could have made a lot more off our table. 5/20/22. A much better experience this time. We did have to wait about 20 minutes for a table but Vanessa took great care of us. We had our drinks, appetizer, salads AND entrees in less than 22 minutes after we had ordered. And YES, I did time it based on our last experience. I had the walleye and it was fabulous. I will definitely get it again.

Yikes. We got the chicken alfredo and french dip.. probably the most bland meal I have ever eaten. If I were a Karen, I would’ve asked for a refund. The garlic bread that came with the chicken alfredo only had a bread taste, no garlic. Disappointed is an understatement.

Better than we expected passing through. Definitely a step above normal North Platte offerings. The waitress didn't really know the menu well, but tried her best to be responsive to questions. The sushi side of the menu is quite sizeable. We only tried a few things as a snack. The sushi chef was friendly and also helpful.

My family and I loved this place for a long time, but now we do not. The food was normally amazing! But until recently we have had poor quality food. We have had fuzzy hairs ALL OVER the sushi, and my drink had a fly in it and when I asked for a new one they did not bring a new glass but the SAME one and the fly was still in it. The food was very plane from what it use to be and very dry. And nomrally when we go we expect to wait a while, 15-25 mins but normally its worth it. But we were waited an hour for bad food that I spent $105 on...

I’m a huge sushi eater and have eaten these delicate pieces of food all over the country. We stopped here by chance while traveling and had an amazing surprise. The food is delicious and is served as it is made which means that the seaweed will not get soggy. The size of each portion is really good and prices are on point. There is a huge variety on the menu and the staff is very friendly as well. I don’t think there is anything bad I could say about this place. Super recommended!

Excellent spot! Food was outstanding! Everything we ordered was prepared well and seasoned perfectly. Flavors were spot on! Service was excellent! Our server was knowledgeable, kind and just right. Don’t miss this gem!! It deserves the attention. Special note: Dan Dan noodles, fried chicken wings, Peking duck, walnut shrimp.

I called ahead and ordered the warm roll with shrimp fried rice. The food was delicious. I was pleasantly surprised by the fried rice and the fact that they had nice sized shrimp. Definitely will try again while I'm in town.

I ordered on the website for delivery. The orange chicken tasted funny and looked off I only ate 1 piece. The sushi didn’t have cucumber in it. The beef and broccoli was good though and it came with white rice and egg drop soup

So I guess if you order Chinese food in Nebraska you shouldn't expect too much. I didn't expect much, but they failed to even come close to my low expectations. Literally the worst Chinese food i have ever had. I ordered orange chicken and Mc Donalds could have done a better job.

Stopped in here back on 3/28 as I had a bad day with my semi truck and the repair shop down the street...bartenders were very friendly, drinks were good, and prices were decent. Jane(?) wasn't my server, but she was quite friendly and my server who was behind the bar took great care of me. If I'm ever broke down out there again, I will make sure to drop back in.

This place is a dirty, smelly dump and the owners are psychotic people who live in their own world. I was there a few months ago while visiting from out of town, and they were fighting with who I’m assuming is their own son, calling him names and threatening to call the police… in the middle of their business, in front of customers. Messy & unprofessional. This wasn’t the only incident at this place that night, either, but definitely the most uncomfortable. The bartenders aren’t very bright. Weird, weird place run by weird, weird people.

Still buzzed about how free to be me this place is. Been awhile since I could kick back without fear and have a good honest chat in public about how whites rule. Thanks.

Love this bar. The waitresses and bartenders are the greatest (Hot Monkey shots are the bomb!). I only gave it 4 stars cuz it gets so loud in there you can't hear yourself talk. My only complaint.

Me and my wife are from out of town just driving through town, and we loved this place! This is a very local bar and that worried me at first but everyone was very friendly. They have darts, pool, a good wide range of music, great beer, and most importantly, awesome staff and patrons! If I’m even in town again I’m coming back to this bar!

Great popcorn honestly the best I have had. Service is good. The problem is the place is absolutely falling apart that's why I had to give it one star. It almost feels dangerous to be in there. Kinda stinks too.

This is what a bar in North Platte should be. Pool tables, shuffleboard, tables, reasonably priced drinks, and absolutely AMAZINGLY nice staff!! Give this place a shot, it's right over the north side of the viaduct. Friendly, small town atmosphere. I really enjoyed myself here. Get the popcorn when you go, it's amazing!!

Not everyone will like the Hub, but I love it. Some of the best staff in town. the popcorn is great, and even though it looks a bit rough and dated it is the perfect place for a drink or two.

Great place to meet up with friends to play pool or just to have drink. I really love the bar tender Becky, she will make sure that you always ha e a drink in front of you and always checks on you to make sure that you doing ok

The 1/2 lb cheeseburger deluxe came out like a Wendy's style flat pressed piece of shoeleather, they forgot I ordered a cheeseburger deluxe (I had to ask for the lettuce tomato onion pickles)But the fries were good! Our waitress was great , the place was comfortable and not to noisy.

Needs more food options but I guarantee it's the best bar in north platte. Amazing place I have had fun every time I have been. I just wish I had more options to eat so I dont have to leave to get food. Best bar around though. Definitely check it out.

If I could give zero stars I would. You have to have 4-5 drinks an hour in order to do karaoke. Poorly ran establishment with awful public relations and they encourage over serving customers.

The bar is great. The people are even better. They treat Canadians well.

Was there on a Sunday afternoon for a birthday. Wasn't busy at all. Very friendly staff. Awesome music choices on the jukebox and a lot of drink selections

Requiring people to drink to get in the queue for karaoke later in the evening is illegal. It puts your liquor license in jeopardy. Guess you won't care until your license is revoked. Sorry that some of us aren't alcoholics! OH, this is the post I'm taking about: literally THIS is how you lose your liquor license PERMANENTLY:

Bartenders are awsome . Place keeps busy. A great place to hang out with friends. Pool tables , shuffle board and darts are always fun. But smoking area is even better. Hug patio yard with tables and later at night sitting around a little campfire and drinking and relaxing with friends are nice . And on the weekends them burritos tho . Best way to explain once you eat one burrito you cant not help your self to ask for another one

Me and my friend went to Kelsey's place for karaoke. We had their chicken bacon ranch pizza. (Very good!) The karaoke KJ was very nice. All the employees are nice. Cute little bar. I will return..
