State park
Nature & Parks
Quoddy Head State Park is located on the easternmost peninsula of the United States, offering stunning views of the Quoddy Channel and Grand Manan Island's red cliffs. The park spans over 500 acres and features scenic trails, diverse wildlife including purple sandpipers and humpback whales, and the historic West Quoddy Head Light. Visitors of all ages can enjoy easy hikes along picturesque cliff views, with options like the Coast Guard Trail running for about one mile.
Awesome visit, even in the rain! Like being in a postcard. Exceptionally kept walking trails along the rocky cliff. I noticed a few elderly visitors managing the paths without difficulty. Picnic tables and barbecues in locations with spectacular views along with the salty air is a one of a kind experience. Don't miss it!

Beautiful lighthouse with scenic coastal trails. When we arrived, it was foggy, but luckily it cleared up enough for us to catch views of the nearby islands and a little bit of Canada! The hiking trails along the shore are peaceful and well-kept. Our phones switched to the Canadian time zone while we were there, which made the drive seem longer than expected until we realized what happened. A unique spot worth visiting.
Lynn T — Google review
This place was beautiful…abundant and outstanding views from well cared for grounds and walking paths. We were there on an absolutely gorgeous day with loads of marine wildlife and sea birds visible. The walking paths down to the rocky beach are a nice bonus. Plenty of parking and well worth the trip.

A beautiful lighthouse at the end of the United States. A beautiful little park that you pay on the honor system. They have a bathroom located about 100 yards from the lighthouse. The lighthouse is handicap accessible, and there is parking closer to it. This lighthouse is a must visit if you’re on the east coast of northern Maine with great views of the Bay of Fundy and Canada across the way. This is a great place to enjoy and there are small hikes. This is a no drone zone. If you’re coming here, don’t forget to bring a few dollars with you so you can make a donation to get in. If you’re parking, there’s plenty of parking spots, but it is not paved just in case you like your fancy car.

West Quoddy Head Lighthouse and State Park is absolutely gorgeous! We only stopped briefly to see the lighthouse and snap a photo at the easternmost point of the United States, but it’s clear this spot deserves much more time. The park has beautiful trails and breathtaking views that make it worth a longer visit. Highly recommend adding it to your Maine trip!
Serena C — Google review
Well worth the hour detour to see the easternmost point in the continental US. Even on a cloudy day, it was a great view of the Maine coast and a lovely light house. We did not spend much time, but looked like a nice place to hike and spend some quit time outside.

My mom and I visited Quoddy Head State Park on Monday, September 29th. The building was closed because of the head lighthouse was the need of more painting but we spent a good time to look at the lighthouse, the surroundings, and the ocean! Also, we went out for a walk on Inland Trail and saw the Sail Rock and Grand Manal Channel of Canada. It was another great state park to see. It was very quiet being there but we saw a bunch of people there. Also, there’s a lack of WiFi connection because our phones thought we were in the Canada. We surprisingly didn’t know this state park is also at the easternmost point of the United States of America!

Awesome lighthouse to visit and super nice grounds. We did the longer of the hikes and it was soooo worth it. The 4.3 mile hike was not very difficult, took aboht 2.5 hours with multiple stops and photos. Super awesome place to visit and the eastern most point in the United States.

West Quoddy Head Lighthouse is a well-preserved historic site with a charming keeper's house and an on-site visitor's center. The small museum offers insightful displays about the lighthouse's history, local flora and fauna, as well as a guide to whale watching. Visitors can enjoy stunning views from the picnic area and explore coastal trails with glimpses of Grand Manan Island across the Quoddy Channel.
Very fun to say you've been to the easternmost point in the contiguous US! Quiet location with a few neat walking trails and sights. Worth the drive from Bar Harbor / Acadia area for a day trip!

Such a great stop for the whole family. It’s really affordable and super easy to get to, which made it stress-free. It was busy when we went, but it never felt crowded or overwhelming. The views are gorgeous, and there are miles of scenic trails that are well-marked, easy to walk, and perfect for just wandering around and taking it all in. Just a short walk or drive away there’s also a little sandy beach that was a big hit with the kids. Nice and clean, and a great place to relax for a while. Between the lighthouse, the trails, and the beach, there’s plenty to see and do without feeling rushed. Definitely recommend if you’re in the area!

This was a great point of interest! The light house and the views were so pretty! If you make ot to the light house there is a trail that takes you on a beautiful hike on the cliffs edge with breath taking views and one of our favorite beaches we visited!
Jordan C — Google review
The lighthouse was closed for the day but the view from the cliff was nice, and we easily found some nice hiking/walking trails in that state park. They led to the rocks at low tide and provided some very nice views. The trail into the arctic bog was more fascinating than expected.

780-mile drive? Worth. Every. Mile. This red-and-white striped beauty sits at the easternmost tip of the continental U.S.—cue dramatic Atlantic waves, salty breezes, and jaw-dropping views. Stroll the cliffs, snap the iconic “Welcome to the East” sign, and watch the light sweep across the ocean—it’s a total soul reset. Lubec’s cozy streets and fresh seafood make it the perfect road-trip cherry on top. Pro tip: Dress in layers—this lighthouse has a personality, and it’s windy.
Lawkaanat — Google review
A few other people but beautiful and definitely a place to hangout for a little bit. The 2 hikes right there on the cliffs have amazing views as well.

Unfortunately it was foggy for the sunrise but it cleared up in a few hours, to be a beautiful day, well worth the walk around and down to the water, many different geological features in a condensed area.

The Quoddy Head lighthouse.. is the eastern most point in the contiguous United States. It’s a nice lighthouse to see. I would like to note that in the first picture I did remove the fence that they have to make a better picture. Thought I’d be honest. Enjoy! It’s a great stop.

RV park
Campground
Sunset Point RV Park offers a pleasant surprise for those seeking a campground experience. Despite its more RV park-like setup, the atmosphere is respectful and quiet, with beautiful surroundings including a small beach and stunning sunsets. The proximity to town and the availability of supplies for cooking seafood on-site add to the appeal. The facilities are clean, reasonably priced, and well-maintained by friendly staff who are knowledgeable about local events.
Super Friendly. Quiet and amazingly beautiful. Felt like we stepped back to a simpler, sweeter time. Clean bathrooms, shower. Very well run with the best vibe. Will definitely stay again.
Ez W — Google review
This was a great place to stay. We primarily hammock and tent camping which make this place a little more interesting to stay since it rained the night we stayed. There are built up structures that they have a picnic table under and made it much more pleasant because of the weather. This was a great place for the view in the morning! It was gorgeous. The facilities were really nice!
Samantha H — Google review
Pull through sites are extremely tight. I watched several drivers struggle to park their campers. Sites 1 through 4 must share a campfire ring precariously placed on a hillside, with no place for seating. Many of the other sites have fire rings and tables across the road. Yes, the price is low but if I wanted to camp like this, I would have stayed in my driveway. Who designed this place?
Mike H — Google review
We stayed at Sunset Point for four days on a friend’s recommendation, and it was exactly what we were hoping for—small, quiet, and super friendly. The owners were great, and one of the main reasons we chose this place was because they bring all the lobster cooking gear right to your site. That experience alone was worth the stay. It was my first time cooking lobster, and the owner took time to walk me through the process, giving me tips and advice. Thanks to him, the lobster cook went off without a hitch, and it turned out to be one of the highlights of our trip. If we ever come back to Lubec, we’d absolutely stay here again. In fact, if you're visiting Maine at all, it’s worth adding Sunset Point to your route just for the lobster cook experience—it’s that good.
Trevor H — Google review
Great smaller RV and camping park. Sites are a little tight but the view is worth it, with a table and fire ring facing the bay. Wonderful staff!

We were here for 5 night in June. Loved the park and our stay. The staff is amazing.!! Spaces are a little tight but the view is with it. We will be back again!

Monica's Chocolates is a multifaceted establishment that encompasses an American restaurant, gift shop, jewelry store, and clothing boutique. The restaurant offers free off-street parking and is pet-friendly with accessibility features for disabled individuals. Monica, the owner, immigrated from Peru and built the business from scratch, crafting homemade chocolates in the basement daily. While slightly pricey, the delectable chocolates are beautifully presented and worth every penny.
We stopped by Monica's Chocolates as we just purchased a property in the area (right down the road!) and I had heard so much about Monica's Chocolates.. and let me tell you what a delight! The store, the atmosphere, meeting Monica! what a lovely lady and so gracious. The chocolate is absolutely divine. The Strawberry Wine Truffles are to {{seriously}} die for as well as the dark and milk and WHITE chocolate blueberry clusters! The jewelry is beyond affordable and the alpaca sweater collection is gorgeous. We are looking forward to a wonderful chocolate relationship with this neighboring boutique. How blessed are we?? (Dave & Ellen) thank you Monica - it was lovely to meet you and chat a bit.
Ellen C — Google review
Cute little shop that sells many different types of items. We stopped here to try the chocolates. We got some dark chocolate sea cucumbers, dark chocolate covered blueberries, and a small little chocolate lobster. All of the chocolate is tasty, the cucumber is a mix of carmel and peanut butter in chocolate which paired wonderfully with my wife's coffee.
Alex D — Google review
Monica's offers a wide variety of chocolate confections. It's so hard to choose just one item, and we always buy several different kinds. Truffles are my favorite. The store also has jewelry, and the woven things made in Peru are beautiful and well made.
Myrna V — Google review
We visit in Monica’s chocolates for the second time in about 10 years. Check out this cool place located on your way to Canada. The staff is super friendly and handed us a basket so we could pick up more chocolate now these are not your regular Hershey chocolate bars so the price is gonna be a little bit more expensive but besides having delicious chocolates inside, they also sold jewelry and they accept credit card. I do not believe they have a bathroom on site but they have plenty of parking in the parking lot. It is a dirt lot. We brought home some little chocolates.
Abner B — Google review
I have wanted to go to Monica 's Chocolate for a while now. I saw a PBS story on Monica. This store DID NOT DISAPPOINT!! The Chocolate was the best I have ever had! My husband and I tried every type she makes( dark, milk, white) they are all delicious. My favorite is the chocolate covered Carmel. You have to try the sea cucumbers!
Brenda T — Google review
Monica makes all the chocolate fillings on site using her own recipes that are a blend of local and Peruvian flavors. (She even makes her own peanut butter from scratch!) The result is a wide variety of delicious chocolates that you won't find anywhere else. The caramel that appears in many of the flavors is unbelievably rich, creamy and flavorful. No wonder she has won so many awards and accolades!
VanTilburg F — Google review
Unexpected gem in the middle of nowhere. Very much worth the stop. Monica is very sweet and friendly and is there working hard every day, April through December. Highly recommend the berry “salsa” (spread/compote), as well as the various bonbons! The pecan bonbon was a favorite of our trip and we wish we had bought more than one of each flavor.

"The Inn on the Wharf" is a charming bayside motel located in a former factory, offering picturesque water views and boat storage. The staff is known for being exceptionally friendly and helpful. The spacious rooms provide beautiful direct views over the water, with guests often too captivated by the scenery to miss having a TV in their rooms. Common areas are perfect for socializing while enjoying the stunning view, and there's a convenient common kitchen with morning coffee available.
I can't recommend this inn, enough. My husband and I have stayed there a few times the last few months while looking to purchase property in Lubec. And the rooms here are delightful and charming. Clean and the host, Nadia, is just lovely and so accommodating. Stay here if you get the chance. The view is STUNNING.

Really enjoyed our stay here. The views from our room were out of this world. Saw an eagle fly by outside our window one day. Room was quaint and clean. Staff were really friendly. Restaurant had really good food and the wait staff were very friendly and attentive. Took the Downeast Charter Boat Tours which is located beside the Inn. Captain was super friendly and knowledgeable. We saw a Minke whale, seals and bald eagles!
Tom K — Google review
Upon arriving at the Inn, we were wonderfully surprised by the view and proximity to the water!! There is also a common dining and kitchen area for guests to share, along with a small selection of books. Truly wish we could have stayed longer!
Natan T — Google review
I went often in years pastand maybe it's changed hands but definitely it's changed machines. The waitress brought a bill to our table, no breakdown of prices, she had put her own 20% tip in and there was no way to change the default. Maybe it's not even her fault and it defaults to 18-20%. I asked if I could put my own tip in and she got defensive. There was no way to change the tip to what I wanted. If I eat here again, I'll definitely pay cash!
Lori A — Google review
Natasha went above and beyond for us! We called last minute (at night) and set us up in a wonderful apartment with 2 King Beds & 2 Full bathrooms! Included was a washer and dryer, which was a bonus! They even cooked us meals even though the restaurant had just closed. The bed was very comfortable! We couldn't have asked for more! Thank You!!
Susan B — Google review
Unexpected gem. We read reviews, and I think there's some confusion about the parts of the inn--there's a section that is closer to the restaurant, and then this section, more recently built, which are more independent rooms. Grab the latter! The view of this hotel is remarkable: We got up early to view th sunrise, and it was spectacular. And if there's fog (which, be clear--there probably will be), it's a moody and serene experience. The room itself is very stark, but it's all about the view. Disliked · If noise bothers you, be aware that creaking floorboards from above happens--pay for the upper unit. If sharing a deck bothers you, pay for the upper unit. You basically hear everything. The room is also a bit Spartan, but it's ok for us. The view makes up for it.

BED BUGS IN THE RUM RUNNER ROOM! Booked this place for our anniversary and, as we were settling in for bed, noticed bed bug nymphs crawling all over the pillows and from beneath the comforter. Immediately grabbed all of our belongings and called the front desk to report it. The owner arrived shortly thereafter with another staff member to inspect, confirming our suspicions. She indicated that she only bought the place last year, that the cottages are owned by a separate entity than the rest of the inn, and that this sort of thing happens since “people just bring these on their luggage.” She shared that she owns another operation in Missouri that has had an infestation and that the treatment is very difficult to take care of. She asked us what our plans were, and dumbfounded, we said we might end up staying in our car since finding accommodations on short notice this far out at 10pm would be challenging. She in turn asked us to keep her on call if we couldn’t find anything. Soon after calling around without success, we reached back out to ask if she could provide guidance on where to go. Unfortunately, we were not accommodated elsewhere as there did not appear to be any vacancy all the way through to Bangor and she did not offer us another place onsite. In the text chain that followed, the owner offered to strip the sheets/remake the bed and allow us to stay at a discount. We declined and indicated that we were expecting a full refund. Her response then consisted of implying that what all of us collectively confirmed to be bed bugs were not, in fact, bed bugs since the staff serving the building for years had never seen them there before, further adding that “insects are insects.” Rather than engage further, we cut our anniversary trip short and drove home four hours through the night. It should also be mentioned that the room had a faint malodor similar to raw sewage when we arrived that mostly dissipated after running the bathroom fan and that beneath the bed had not been cleaned or swept likely all season. I hope that this pattern of procurement of real estate assets in Downeast as just another investment in a portfolio by out-of-state interests does not continue down this path of neglect as it will irreparably harm the charm of places like Lubec. We were refunded in the end.

There's a beer garden. There's a bar. There are several places to lounge and relax. There's live music on occasion. It's in an absolutely quaint and beautiful area. The staff is amazing. It's almost like "Cheers." You can go and just hangout as long as you want. Have conversation, enjoy some beer, listen to music, read, relax, let the day fade, whatever. Best vibe ever. And the beer is quality.

Homey atmosphere and hospitable staff. Beers are all pretty good. You can get food at local places and eat in the side room. This seemed to be the busiest place in Lubec when I went. If you're lucky, you'll catch some live music in the main bar.

I’m going to help you and the brewery out- they have NO food here, as of Covid 2020. When we visited today they explained they don’t know how to change the reviews on Google, and, sure enough, ourselves and probably 4-5 other couples stopped in while we were there looking for food. They do allow you grab food from somewhere close by and eat it there, but in mid October, the selections were very limited. Limited beer options too at the end of the season.

Historical place museum
Roosevelt Cottage, originally built in 1897 and purchased by FDR's mother in 1909, is a historic summer residence with 34 rooms historically decorated to reflect the 1920s. The on-site interpretive hosts provide insightful information about the Roosevelts and their time there. Visitors can enjoy Eleanor's tea time with delicious tea and ginger cookies. The tour of the cottage is highly recommended, as well as exploring nearby hiking trails in International Park and Provincial Park.
My wife & I stumbled upon this cottage while on a quick day trip into Canada from Maine, and it was an unexpected surprise. The house and grounds are beautiful and well kept, and the staff was great. Being a bit of a U.S. president nerd, I really enjoyed the time here. I’d recommend anyone visit here!
Bill G — Google review
Loved this Cottage. My family and I had stumbled across this historic site by accident. I never knew that this cottage existed. You first start out by watching a 10 minute film at the gift shop. Then you walk down to the cottage and take a guided tour. The house was simply beautiful and had much character. Unfortunately I couldn't give the cottage a 5 star because our tour guide continued to throw "shots" and "low blows" at America and Americans. I felt like the guide talked more about America and how bad it was as opposed to the actual facts about the house. I felt nervous to ask any questions because I was afraid she may say something rude to me since I was American. The energy of the tour group gave nervous. I'd like to come back one day and give this house another try. Over all I would recommend you stop and tour the home because its so historical hopefully your guide gives more information than mine did.

This is the summer home of the Roosevelt's since the beginning of the 20th century. Franklin and his family visited even whilst he was President. The odd thing is that due to various historical events. Some predating the Revolutionary War, the island that is surrounded on three sides by the USA is actually Canadian. It is the world's only international park The Roosevelt's never put in electricity or telephones. It was quiet and pristine. Today the park has electricity and flush toilets. 😉 Friendly coffee shop

Coffee was terrific. Bakery items very good. Service was very good. Atmosphere was literally poisoned by a group of 4 elderly locals (3 men and 1 lady)sitting around in a group talking politics very loudly, boisterously and ugly about people voting behaviors. Brainwash on full display.

Stopped in for breakfast and got a breakfast sandwich with bacon, egg, and cheese. I also got a hot chocolate with vanilla. These were both great. My boyfriend got a coffee and he enjoyed it. Staff was very friendly. They also have some items for sale like books, ornaments, prints, and more. We bought an ornament to bring home. Nice spot to grab a quick breakfast in town.

Lovely little cafe. Great small town feels. Kind and lovely staff. Homemade baked good, soup, sandwiches, and coffee. Had a great delicious breakfast panini, and a London fog.

Amazing gem in Lubec. Friendly staff, charming atmosphere, and amazing coffee. They have a limited supply of amazing pastries so you’d best come before they are gone!

Coziest cafe in Lubec. Warm service. Really good breakfast Panini. Definitely a place to take refuge while visiting.

We were fortunate to spend a month in Lubec this summer, so returned many times to this gem of a cafe. Both the owner and staff could not have been kinder or more welcoming to visitors. The coffee, pastries and sandwiches we enjoyed all summer were first rate, without exception. The space, the decor, the quality goods offered and the location simply could not be better. As an unexpected bonus, we were always made to feel welcome by locals, at the community table. If I came in solo while my partner worked, there was always company and conversation on offer. Andrea and her team have created a place that benefits the community and visitors alike, a rare accomplishment! Headed anywhere near Lubec? Quoddy Head light, Campobello, any of the excellent hiking the area has to offer? Make a short detour here, to Narrow Escape, and be glad.

The avocado toast on homemade bread is out of this world! I’d also recommend grabbing whatever you fancy from the fresh pastry case, sweet or savory you can’t go wrong!

Seafood restaurant
Located in the easternmost part of the United States, Fisherman’s Wharf Restaurant is a charming American eatery offering a diverse seafood menu. With both indoor and heated deck seating, it provides stunning views of the Lubec Channel and Campobello Island. The restaurant is known for its delicious lobster, scallops, and haddock dishes. Despite some feedback about sticky tables, visitors praise the amazing food and relaxing atmosphere at this waterfront gem.
Nice fishhouse on a wharf. Nothing fancy, nothing trashy. Great food, straight forward service and atmosphere. Great view. The chowder and lobster rolls were perfect. We ate the clams before I could get a picture. Same with the sardines. If you've never had FRESH sardines, get them here. Dang.

Came here after visiting the lighthouse at quoddy. Prices were reasonable. Food was awesome. Good portions. I had the bowl of lobster stew which was great and a side of fries. Everyone was happy with their meals. Service was very pleasant. Views would have been amazing but for the fog. Gift shop was nice if small. Parking lot is small and down a hill but more parking is available on the street. Definitely recommend.

Visited on Sunday, Memorial day weekend. Place was busy as it was a nice day after a stretch of rain plus the holiday. Food was very good and arrived hot. Service was also very good even though it was a full house. Prices in line with other placeslike this. Views and patio are spectacular.

Food was good but location was great. We had fish and chips they were 25.00 they were good. Good wine and beer list that made it better. They let us sit there for a long time and did not rush us. Would go again.

Stopped in for a lobster roll and beer. Overall, we really enjoyed our visit. We got some local beer, a delicious stuffed lobster roll, and onion rings. 100% recommend the onion ring upgrade over the fries. Great stop for sure.

Only place that was open when I was in Lubec. Had the creamy lobster stew and a lobster roll. The stew had separated and the fat was floating on top of a very watery soup, there was nothing creamy about it. The lobster in the roll had very little flavor. Overall very disappointing considering the location right off the bay.

Disappointed to say the least and $62.00 down the drain for a simple lunch after hiking, while on vacation. We have enjoyed meals there every summer on the patio with our dog. Overpriced and just really bad this year (we’re from Maine).. The seafood chowder looked like dirty dishwater, had no flavor, and I couldn’t tell you what was in it, tiny pieces of something. Grilled haddock burger—fish was overcooked, dried out, chewy and half the size of the bun. I couldn’t believe they served the onion rings to us: burnt, stuck together, inedible. Nobody cared. Service was non existent. The other patio people were just picking at their food too. We later learned they are under new management and looking for cooks and waitresses. We settled for ice cream bars from the store for the ride home. Shame on them.

The good: The views here are likely the best in Lubec, just about every table has a great one and the outside tables can't be beat if the weather is good. The food is really good. The bad: If you order the lobster dinner....pack your patience, as this is a very popular item and seemingly they have don't have a ton of capacity for throughput and it takes a LONG time. Tested this twice. The rest of the food seems to come out at normal speed. Menu prices on the website are very out of date and much higher in reality. The ugly: Prepare to walk in, find a line, but have no clue what to do with it, or if there is no line, prepare to stand there and be ignored. Do I go in? Do I wait here? Some walked around the line and went to the bar...did they cut in front of me or did they have a reservation? Some went to the patio. Seemingly no system (although I am sure there is), but being new in town means you don't know and no one talks to you when you enter. It's the strangest thing as this is the VERY basics of a restaurant. Set the expectations and let me know how long I have to wait, so I can decide to stay, or go somewhere else. Once seated the older lady who waited on us, COULD NOT HAVE CARED LESS about us. Seemingly if you aren't local, you don't rate a smile, or any words other than "ready" and then an abrupt walking away after ordering. Again - this wasn't just us - her attitude was very different from people she clearly knew versus randos. Flies. The bar is just bombarded with by my count, 15 flies. At least the ones I could see. Again ...two visits, a week and half apart, same outcome so that appears to be ops normal. Order cocktails knowing your glassware has VERY likely had flies on it. Fortunately we sat near the bar and saw this so we knew better.

HD & Sons Seafood

Restaurant
HD & Sons Seafood is an enjoyable American seafood eatery that also features a marketplace. Customers can indulge in delicious seafood dishes while observing the bustling market from the open deck seating area. The restaurant takes pride in how seafood's allure brings people together, surpassing even Bluetooth connectivity, regardless of their backgrounds. The menu offers delectable options like lobster rolls and fish and chips made with superb locally sourced pollack.
the food was amazing. although I would recommend sharing as the portions are huge. my group of 5 girls were beastly hungry and we couldn't even down all of it. we ordered the haddock fish and chips and fried shrimp. now... the service. I've mulled this one over and over in my mind. the wait was 45 min. we were pre warned. not sure if the 45 min was due to the amount of orders, lack of adequate employees, or what.
Avonlea M — Google review
While it was the last day, severely overcooking our seafood meal was unacceptable. By the time our food came out, we could hear the girl at the counter telling all the other customers everything that they had run out of, So I knew it was pointless to complain about our very overcooked fisherman's platter. The shrimp were smaller than the size of a nickel and the clams were nothing but crunchy remnants of what they could have been. They seriously need to look at their Cooks for next year's season. We wasted $60 on a meal that the girl at the counter bragged about the size of the portion we were to receive.

Shore Thing is a sure thing. Stayed in Lubec 2 nights (June 2024); haddock chowder & lobster roll for takeaway dinner last night, lobster roll again today for lunch. Staff are friendly & seafood tastes great.

Great meal. We had lobster rolls and fish and chips made with some amazing local pollack. The lobster roll came on a perfectly prepared roll and had just the right amount of mayo. The pollack was thick, flaky, and done perfectly. The fries/chips were also done just right...a bit crispy. An excellent and reasonably priced meal. Give them a try!

I cannot recommend this place enough! I grew up in Maine and so my first order of business when I come home is fried clams and these were THE BEST fried clams I've ever had! My mom had the fish and chips which was also an excellent piece of fish. What's even better? The tartar sauce and the coleslaw was homemade which is not the norm these days! The prices were also incredibly reasonable and the staff were so phenomenal and kind! Special shout out to Linda and Cass!! Seriously go here if you want a real Maine seafood experience that isn't gimmicky, won't break the and served with a smile!

Away from the maddening crowds of Bar Harbor, a fine little place to eat. Food is served at the Shore Thing which is a part of the wholesale seafood business. Lobster fresh off the boat.

This place had great reviews so we decided to stop…. NOT WORTH IT. Food was OK at best. (Mozza sticks were actually amazing) Service was horrible. There was only 1 other table when we came in and we waited for someone to seat us, food took about 20 minutes, I had to ask for water twice.

Day 2

Northwest side of town
For day 2, we recommend exploring the northwest side side of town. Start the day off with Roosevelt Campobello International Park, then wind down and take it easy by the time you get to Herring Cove Provincial Park. All together, your day would be filled with about 8 hours of non-stop fun.

Historic Sites
Roosevelt Campobello International Park, located in New Brunswick, is the former summer home of Franklin D. Roosevelt and Eleanor Roosevelt, now transformed into a museum within a vast seaside nature park with trails. Visitors can reach the island via a bridge from Lubec, Maine or by ferry from L'etete to Deer Island and then to Campobello Island. The park offers over 8 miles of scenic roads and walking trails for exploration.
We've visited 3 times in the last two years and every time it has been a good experience. The museum/gift shop is very informative and inviting. The grounds are immaculate and lovely. The free tour of the Roosevelt cottage is engaging.

This was a cool place with a lot of history. There was no charge to enter and they provided a tour of Roosevelts 18 bedroom summer cottage. There's a small visitor center with collectible stamps for those who stamp at national parks and national historic sites. There's a small gift shop and a restaurant on site as well. Their gardens and landscaping are very well kept and we're beautiful to look at as well.
Lisa J — Google review
A fantastic visit. Bathrooms are located at the visitor center with modern amenities. Plenty of parking. Staff is extremely helpful and does a great job providing information. Tours are great and informative with tours leaving every 15 minutes. We were there during the shoulder season, so it was not too crowded. There are three properties to visit, 4 if you include Prince Cottage which is their restaurant a definite must try. There are also walking and bike / carriage paths to visit and take in the island scenery. Be advised that the island is on Atlantic time. Our phones did not switch over from Eastern until we were further north on the Island so pay close attention if you are attending events at a specific time. There are clocks in the visitor center if you need to acclimate. The gift shop has a great selection of books on the Roosevelt family as well.

We came for the day on a Friday. Going through Customs at Lubec was painless and the park is anshort way across the border with ample parking. The information center is very well maintained and staffed. I got a map of the grounds and one of Campobello Island and used the very clean restroom. No pets except service animals are allowed in any of the buildings so we took turns minding our maltipoo and taking the 30 minute tour of the Roosevelt cottage. Tours are every 15 minutes so it was easy to get in 2 consecutive tours. It was very interesting and the guide was well informed and very likeable. I wandered the grounds and went down to the boat dock while waiting my turn for the tour. There are several other buildings and cottages as well. We had lunch at the Prince Cafe just down the lawn from the Roosevelt Cottage, very good food and ample servings. We sat outside on the veranda with our dog and ate with a lovely view. Service was very good and prices reasonable.

Lots of history here as the 40 room house is full of family pictures, memorabilia and original furniture. I loved the large kitchen and “president” stove. Be sure to have Tea with Eleanore in another property that was donated to Campobello. A history of the former 1st lady is told during tea time. All free.
Tyler D — Google review
Such a beautiful spot filled with so much history! It was torrential rain when I was there, so I didn't get a chance to fully explore all the trails in the park. I think a second trip may be needed! My tour guide was wonderful and brought alive the spirit of the Roosevelts. The Visitor's Center is full of information as well as fun souvenirs.
Sharon D — Google review
An historical wonder, being that Canada and the USA share operations of this park. It is free to enter and go into the buildings. You can pay to have tea and cookies at "Tea with Eleanor" or "Cocktails with Franklin", but throwing the buildings is free. Incredible restorations and history.
Matthew W — Google review
A special place indeed. An "international park" as they call it, although you must be in Canada for visit. The site of President Roosevelt's summer cottage and area he met his wife. When we went the visitors center had just closed, but the staff were extremely helpful in going back inside unprompted and providing us with maps and assistance. They went the extra mile and made our brief trip well worth it. The cottage itself seems marvelous. There are views looking out to Eastport, Maine which seems so close you could cast a stone to it's shores. The trails make for lovely strolls. Worth a visit.

Mulholland Point Lighthouse is a charming beacon located near the border between the United States and Canada, offering picturesque views of Johnson Bay and the stately bridge that connects the two countries. Visitors can enjoy educational panels detailing its history while taking in stunning vistas of Lubec across the channel. The lighthouse also features a small Marine Museum for those interested in maritime history. While accessibility may be limited due to rocky terrain, it remains a worthwhile stop for its scenic beauty and historical significance.
I went in early September at dusk and there was no crowd. It was a foggy day, so the view was interesting. The only negative experience I had is there were quite a few mosquitoes and they do seem to love me, but that's nature and no reflection on the lighthouse itself! lots of beautiful rose hips from the rosebushes.

Thank you to Dennis for the tour! Lovely lighthouse, worth the stop on your travels ❤
Kerry N — Google review
Great little lighthouse located a two minute drive into Canada from the United States. The area is well-maintained and there is a dirt parking lot. There is a porta potty on site, but it is not a handicap porta potty. Getting to the lighthouse was a quick 32nd walk from the parking lot. There is a little shed next-door. I would say like a mini museum great views of the bridge that crosses over into the United States and Maine. If you’re driving over to go to Campobello I would say take a quick detour. You’ll spend five minutes there and you will enjoy it.

My family and I visited in 2nd week of August, 2025. First time ever going through customs. We went to see lighthouse and took some pictures and as we walked back down trail to get into our cars,a man named Dennis encouraged us to come back up and to see the small red building. Dennis was extremely knowledgeable about whales, and marine life. He took time to tell us alot of Dennis also interesting facts. He also recommended sites to see and places to eat. I just wanted to shout out to Dennis what a wonderful experience and how truly nice and welcoming he was. Thankyou.

Nestled in a restored historic waterfront building, Water Street Tavern & Inn is the easternmost tavern in the nation. The casual and homey rooms offer beautiful views of the working waterfront, bay islands, eagles, and seals. The tavern's menu focuses on Downeast cuisine with a unique twist and changes daily. Additionally, the restaurant offers creative entrees and fine dining in a grand style with a seasonal menu featuring fresh ingredients prepared into culinary masterpieces.
The food, service and ambiance at Water Street Tavern must be experienced to truly appreciate & understand the accolades of my review. The Owners greet you as you enter and treat you as guests in their home. The bar is expertly tended by Larry, who sets the tone with a tasty cocktail and some local lore. The menu choices are superb and the chef and his staff will not disappoint. With that said, the four times @ Water Street Tavern I’ve ordered the Scallops, they’re delicious.

Absolutely beautiful spot to stop and eat. We sat outside and watched the water in hopes to see a seal. Right across is a light house in Canada! The food was delicious! I love the blackberry glaze on my duck! I do recommend calling ahead for a reservation, we got there at the perfect time and didn't end up needing one. We didn't stay and the inn so I'm unsure on how those were. Appetizer- blueberry puffins (I believe that what there were called) Husband meal- seared scallops, garlic roasted potatoes and french fries My meal- blackberry glazed duck, garlic roasted potatoes and honey balsamic glazed carrots

We love Lubec and the Tavern; we stay there whenever we’re in town and they have a vacancy. Restaurant is good but be certain to get a reservation. Tiny, beautiful downtown is walkable for most everyone and there are several stops for drinks and pics. Uncrowded gem you shouldn’t miss!

Absolutely outstanding experience at Water Street Tavern and Inn! From the moment I arrived, the staff made me feel completely welcome and at home. Huge thank you to Olivia, Kim, Kristen, Allison, Larry, Lucas, and the entire team — every one of them was kind, attentive, and made my visit truly special. I had my first-ever lobster here, and it was exquisite. So fresh — it had been caught that very morning! Perfectly prepared and full of flavor, it was a meal I’ll never forget. The setting is beautiful and relaxed, with a cozy and charming atmosphere that made my time here even more enjoyable. Whether you’re staying the night or just stopping in for a bite, I cannot recommend this place highly enough. Thank you again to everyone at Water Street Tavern and Inn — you made my experience unforgettable. I’ll definitely be back!

We both stayed here and dined here. Make reservations to assure a spot for a memorable meal. We were lucky enough to snag a bar seat - which also can have reservations. We met some new friends and had lobster caught in the bay that morning - the biggest I have ever attempted to eat. Good food, cold drinks, and nice people. We stayed above the restaurant and the space exceeded my expectations. Everything was exactly as described but the added bonus for me was a shared community space that is like your home living /dining room and kitchen all in one. The location was great for us - on the water and close to downtown shops and Saturday farmers market. They are closed tomorrow so we are headed to public house in Macháis ME for dinner. We will come back for a good nights rest at the tavern!! You can’t go wrong with a visit to Lubec and water street tavern has everything you need!!

We had a great dinning experience at the restaurant thanks to our waiter, Bill. He was friendly, professional and engaging. So much so that we had dinner there twice. Bill helped my wife choose the gigantic 2.5 lb lobster, which she thoroughly enjoyed.Higlights included the pear and goat cheese salad, and the fried Haddock. From the restaurant you can get a good view of the bay. Ambiance is lively and welcoming. A must visit when you are in Lubec 👍👍👍👍

I wish this could be a straight 5-star review, because the location is beautiful and the business is well kept and clean. We were there this past weekend for our wedding anniversary and were staying in a room of the inn. We left some food in the fridge and went out for the day to tour around and see the sights. When we returned, we found that our food had been cleaned out and presumably thrown away. I called the three available phone numbers to see if maybe they'd just been moved or something like that. Unfortunately all three numbers lead to voice mail, so I left a message asking to be called back. I never received a call back. Otherwise the staff of the restaurant was excellent, and as I said the location is perfect.

Very disappointed in the amount of food you got for the price. 45.00 steak and my fish dinner was dry. I dont mind paying the price for a good meal but this was a bit much.. Specials weren't told to us. Yes they were on the board on the floor but didn't see them till we were waiting for our dinner. We were looking forward to a nice dinner. Not many options for eating out while we were on vacation.

We went with family and stayed at sites 25 & 26. There is power but no water or sewer at the actual sites. They were very private and treed. The bathrooms were clean. Nicely wooded sites at Herring point provincial park, in the electronically section. Nice walk to the beach. Water is too cold to swim but the kayaking was great. Lovely little island, went five nights and loved it. Nice hike to liberty point thé the light house is a fun visit.

Clean showers! Clean bathrooms! A cheap laundry room! We did not book a site. We just showed up and they let us drive around and pick out our site. They let us check in early and check out late for free! We stayed at a non-electric site in the woods and it was great. Some of the electric sites are in a field, so make sure you check out where your site is gonna be. Some of the electric sites are in the woods too! We will definitely be back.

Flat sites but not very private. Facilities were clean and great showers. Easy access to the beach and I would recommend staying here again. But of bugs but nothing over the top. Playground was basic but enjoyable for my three and one year old.

Worth a visit. It pays to do your homework. Some sites have plenty of room and privacy; others are wide open. Not certain short trail to beautiful beach. Laundry facilities, albeit it one washer and dryer only. Nine-hole golf course is good value. Beautiful greens and interesting holes, but fairways hard and dusty in places. Bumpy entrance. Nearby Roosevelt cottage is worthwhile excursion, especially the free tour!

Day 3

Off the beaten path
For day 3, if you don’t mind the extra trek, today covers more off the beaten path places like Reversing Falls Park. Not quite as popular as Roosevelt Campobello International Park, but still highly rated among many travelers. Accounting for getting around and average time spent, today’s activities could take about 9 hours.

Reversing Falls Park

Park
Reversing Falls Park is a municipal park located at Mahar Point in Pembroke, Maine. It offers a short trail leading to an overlook of the reversing falls, where the currents reverse twice a day due to high tides. The park provides beautiful views of the tides with their dramatic currents and calm waters during low tide. The trails are well-maintained, although they can get muddy in summer and may not be maintained during winter.
This hidden away park is a gem! Great views and hiking trails! If the season is right you might see a group of seals, eagles, and other sea water birds. The water rise and fall depending on the 28' tides is amazing! The slack tide, the smooth surface following high tide for about 20 minutes is amazing after the turbulence! Pack a lunch or snack and plan to be there awhile to see the changes created by the force of the water from the bays and underground ledge! Maliseet is the Passamaquoddy tribal word for "boiling tides". There are no restroom facilities here so plan accordingly. The gas station "Freshies" as you return to Rte 1 in Pembroke has clean restrooms.
Maggie A — Google review
Such a beautiful, serene place to watch the sunset. Pure extraordinary beauty as you watch the water flow in one way, become completely still, and then flow the other way as the tide goes in and out
Linda M — Google review
Nice spot, very cool to look at. Went shortly before low tide and the change from crazy currents to glassy calm waters was fantastic. Decent short hike also, pretty hilly but not hard.
Dustin C — Google review
Plenty of parking and only a short walk to great viewing locations.
Josh L — Google review
It's a beautiful trail. Only downside is that it's not very long. The round-trip is just barely over a mile. But for little children this is perfect.
Lifewith K — Google review
Absolutely breathtaking. Experience the power of the tides - unimaginable.
Sally K — Google review
Nice hike, nothing to hard but the views of the tide are what's the draw. Look up when the tides change to see the show.
Russ D — Google review
What a wonderful place to spend a day or afternoon. Watching the tide come in our go out is just a beautiful experience.

State Parks
Shackford Head State Park, nestled in Eastport just a short drive from the Cottages, is a delightful day-use destination for nature lovers and hiking enthusiasts. The park features an array of scenic trails that meander through lush woods and along the stunning shoreline, with the shortest hike taking around 20 minutes to complete.
Wonderful trails and scenery. Recommend not sitting, laying, crouching, or standing still for too long on the trails as fire ants are very prominent. Unfortunately their bark is nothing compared to the bite, so be cautious. Walked along the rock beachside as the tide went down. Highly recommend coming here!
Nadiana J — Google review
Great hike. Looking forward to coming back. Only drawback was the fire ants. We were warned. They were mostly everywhere. Tuck your pants into your boots and watch your step. If you can only get here in summer, it's worth a few bites and stings. Like everything beautiful in Maine🤣
John D — Google review
Love a hike that has the sound of the ocean nearby. Lovely trails, but beware of the fire ants. They are EVERYWHERE. Didn't get bit but was aware thus didn't tempt fate (don't sit on ground).
Margaret R — Google review
This fire ant refuge is a hidden gem on the island. If you love fire ants here you can truly be among them! If you do not, I suggest maintaining a good marching cadence.
Patrick R — Google review
During the summer the fire ants are CRAZY. But for winter months the trails are absolutely beautiful. Good range of climbing and straight paths. As long as you've got good knees, they should be fun to hike. The trail markings really need to be updated, it's easy to get lost in certain sections.
Alexis L — Google review
Most of trail is in woods with lots of trees roots to climb over. And red ants are vicious. Don't stop for even a second or you'll be eaten alive. On the bright side, the view from the overlook is beautiful.
Patricia S — Google review
Lotta fire ants, be aware and protect yourself. check yourself regularly. Beautiful, quiet place but only has a tiny shoreline that's not really very picturesque. It was kinda dirty and the view was the fish farm and big ships. I prefer quoddy head for shoreline views and walking
Clarence B — Google review
A wonderful wilderness peninsula jutting out from Moose Island comprised of a network of inland and coastal trails. Be advised that much of the area is infested with fire ants.

Old Sow Whirlpool

4.6
(40)
Historical landmark
Old Sow Whirlpool, located in the Bay of Fundy near Deer Island, New Brunswick, is renowned as the largest tidal whirlpool in the Western Hemisphere. This natural wonder emits deep, sow-like sounds and is best observed during flood tides from a specific vantage point on Deer Island. The phenomenon's activity peaks approximately 3 hours before or after the top or end of the flood tide.
Lovely spot - Old Sow is very cool. Beach area has lots of sea glass and interesting geology. We saw several seals enjoying Old Sow's currents.
Travis J — Google review
Unique. Went to the Canadian side and saw turbulence, even looked like a few whirlpool at times, not constant. Would love to take a boat to get closer if I'm ever back in the area. You could feel the chaos in the water looking at the area from the beacon.
Lidie G — Google review
Really cool experience! I came here from the Downeast Boat Charter Whale Watch in Lubec. The best time to come is during low tide. The pools were just getting started when we arrived, but we were still able to see many of the "pigglets". Apparently Old Sow got the name due to the sucking sound the whirlpool makes and reminded people of a pig. That's what the smaller ones are called pigglets! Old Sow is also the most geologically significant whirlpool in the east, and at it's deepest point, is over 400 feet deep. Crazy! The captain drove through the waters and you could tell how much he was being pulled to and fro by the whirlpools. The whirlpools, when very dramatic, may have as much as a six foot difference from the top of the bottom of the spiral as well. Highly recommend taking the boat charter I mentioned above to come check it out!
Ian P — Google review
It was very calm when I went but I got to see a little seal popping his head up a couple times 😍 beautiful view as well
Shannon B — Google review
You can take a charter from Eastport to see the world's largest whirlpool along with whales, dolphins, and a Canadian lighthouse across the boarder.
John M — Google review
Spent quite a few Sundays out here in personal boat with a few beers. Lots of small porpoise typically. Been through it twice when really cranking with a local harbor pilot in his personal boat. Can get about 100 foot across and about 6 - 10 inches deep when really gurgling. Watch out for driftwood and debris that will get caught in its swirling current.
Mortimer M — Google review
What a great experience! With a limit of six on the boat it felt like a private charter. My friend and I were joined by a family with two little girls who wanted to see a whale. Sadly none this trip but tons of other wildlife and they both (and all the adults) loved it. Caption Ralph was great and we had a blast.
Heather W — Google review
My mother in law lived here. Last time we visited her in 08 we would come here quite often. It is a beautiful, peaceful place! The entire island is a beautiful place to visit 😍!

The Lost Fisherman's Memorial in Lubec is a touching tribute to the courageous fishermen who lost their lives at sea while pursuing their livelihood. The memorial, located at Lost Fishermans Memorial Park, overlooks Cobscook Bay and features an elegant granite wave sculpture engraved with the names of 111 fishermen who perished since 1900. Set against the backdrop of Lubec Narrows and Mulholland Point Light in Canada, this serene spot offers a perfect place for reflection and remembrance.
Nice monument for the lost fishermen with a view of the lighthouse on the Canada side.
Mrs L — Google review
Well, it's a double-edged sword. It was small. Much smaller than my mother expected, but i'm glad it was that small.Because it lists the name of fishermen lost at sea. I myself some family listed on this and some very dear friends. It is a place to reflect the upon. The hard life that is lived by many people that live in the great state of Maine. And while you're there, we will notice that this is still a working fishing village. They know what they do each day to get by might be the last day but keep going to support their families, stay safe. Guys, hopefully, I pray this wall never gets any bigger.
Robert W — Google review
Such an incredibly well done memorial. Perfect spot with grand views of the Lubec Narrows and Mulholland Point Light in Canada. This memorial makes you stop and reflect and commemorate those brave fisherman. One must stop for a while at this very special place.
James P — Google review
A moving memorial to those who never made it home. Unfortunately, I did not take a picture of the memorial to add here. The location is great. We did stay for a bit and watch seals playing (fishing?) just off shore.
Daren B — Google review
An affront to fisherman. Put their names on the memorial. Fishing includes moving boats even by land. Building traps. Running and cutting ropes. All of these are in the name of fishing and wouldn't be happening otherwise. To not include on the claim "not fishing " is an asinie afront to even the folks on the memorial. Absolutely trashy move and we will never forgive not forget.
Zachary N — Google review
Beautiful setting for a lost fisherman’s memorial. Nicely done stone memorial with the names of those lost at sea. As the tide changes in the background you can understand the risks in these tidal waters. I wish there were a few benches to sit on while I reflected.
Perks A — Google review
It was very thoughtful that the locals built a memorial for the fisherman's lost at sea. it was a nice way to pay their respect for families who lost loved ones.

Downeast Charter Boat Tours, operated by a couple, offers unique whale watching excursions on their 25-foot lobster yacht. In addition to spotting whales and seals, the tour includes a ride to see the Old Sow, the largest tidal whirlpool in the western hemisphere. Pass by lighthouses and enjoy personal experiences due to small group sizes. Guests have seen various wildlife like bald eagles and porpoises during their tours.
We had an excellent time and they really worked hard to get us out on the water to see the Old Sow. The weather can be tricky in the shoulder season but we were able to go and had a great time. We were able to see The Sow, several seals, light houses, great views of East Port and Lubec from the water, and even some eagles nesting. I enjoyed the small tour and our Captain was fantastic. He had excellent knowledge of the area and a great eye for spotting wild life. One of our all time favorite cruises. Communication in and around booking was fantastic! It's also one of the best ways to see the Head Harbor Light House without wanting for low tide. We loved it and will definitely do it again! I highly recommend it!!
The L — Google review
Wonderful experience all around. The boat is a perfect size and well tended. Captain Ralph and crew are very knowledgeable and clearly invested in creating a quality experience for their guests from start to finish. In addition to the stunning landscape, we saw whales, gray seals and harbor seals, porpoises, bald eagles, and many marine birds. Great price for a tour of this length and quality!
Claire H — Google review
Great experience. Didn't see whales, but saw seals and bald eagles. (Still early in the season, although whales were seen earlier in the day.) Captain and first mate were great and very knowledgeable about the area. Boat is covered and comfortable. Weather was very nice but it does get cold out on the water.
Michelle G — Google review
This was the best boat tour I’ve been on. We saw so many animals. I learned so much about the area. Captain Ralph really works hard to make sure everyone can see the sights and animals. When I was leaving after the tour, a family was about to go out but one of their children didn’t want to go. Carol went to the family car. She kindly greeted the girl, telling her she was so glad she was there. The girl ended up changing her mind and went to the boat.
Amy C — Google review
What a wonderfully unique experience!!! This was the smallest boat we have ever toured on. With only 6 of us on board the experience was very quaint and personal. We saw it all!!! We saw 6 whales, many seals, beautiful bold eagles, razorbills, and schools of porpoise. To be in the Bay of Fundy brought us so much joy… but the Old Sow!!! Unbelievable!!! I totally recommend this tour and look forward to another trip out on our next visit!!! Captain Ralph is the best captain ever!!
Karl G — Google review
We had a great experience taking the 2.5 hours whale watching tour to the mouth of the bay, where we saw whales and seals. The crew was friendly and knowledgeable. We were particularly impressed with the attention to kids' safety and making sure everyone wore their lifevests at all time, as this is a smaller boat. We also liked that they were proactively watching the weather and fog, and not booking trips that they estimated they would not be able to make - unlike some outfits that let you book and then cancel at the last moment...
Uri D — Google review
Up from KY to visit my home state with my husband. We got a great little tour of the local wildlife (seals, porpoise, whale, eagles) and view of the whirlpool! Hope we can come back soon!
Ashley C — Google review
An incredible experience! Beautiful views of the water and surrounding islands paired with the knowledge of our tour guide (whose name I regretfully didn’t get) made for a wonderful experience. The best way to get to know this area is from the water, and aside from the beauty of the scenery, we also got to see bald eagles, whales, porpoises, and seals. It is a must-do when in the area. An additional sight was the lake’s whirlpool, which can get up to 250 feet long. Overall, it was a unique and entertaining experience. To be done again!

Mowry Beach Preserve in Florida offers a fine sandy beach, contrasting the pebble-filled beaches of the Maine Coast. The highlight is its powerful tides, among the strongest in the world. During low tide, the beach transforms into a mud flat where local clammers can be seen in action. This unique scene makes it an ideal spot for clamming or leisurely walks when the tide recedes.
Beautiful sunny day at this remote beach at low tide. Rock collecting, a beach picnic and watching local clammers at work. Amazing!
Michele T — Google review
Great beach nice level walking area on the ocean, not standard wheelchair accessible but has handicap parking. Very clean but no trash cans for public use.
Andy M — Google review
Rocky beach with some sand and dunes. Has a boardwalk trail that goes behind the dunes, some broken pieces of wood and questionable integrity, but otherwise enjoyable.
David S — Google review
Beautiful spot for clamming or a walk when the tide is out! We brought the puppy with us on memorial day weekend and at 1:30 we had the place to ourselves! Limited parking, no bathrooms, but a nice trail to the beach and a beautiful view of Campobello Island ! We even saw 2 eagles sitting on a rock. The place is very clean, please keep it that way!
Julia B — Google review
Sandy, pebbly, little, quiet beach. Nice for a quick walk, shell collecting and the view and ambiance of the ocean scents, sounds, and sights.
Caroline K — Google review
Very pretty however we went with recommendations of finding sea glass and didn’t find any.

Love how beaches are so different! We have sandy beaches in Florida, but love the rocks and pebbles on Mowry Beach. We were amazed to see trucks driving on the beach all the way up to the water! 😱 Great place to walk, explore and meander down the boardwalk which goes across the Preserve. 👍👏

Morano's Authentic Pizza is the ultimate choice for pizza enthusiasts. Their pizzas stand out as the finest, rivaling even those found in NYC. With an extensive range of options from coast to coast, no other pizzeria comes close to their exceptional quality. Morano's exquisite sauce offers a savory taste that never leans towards sweetness. The cheese is bursting with flavor, and their crust strikes the perfect balance between thinness at its center and a delightful puffy yet crunchy texture on the edges.
Great pizza! We visited for dinner on a Saturday evening in early fall. Bianca pizza was really tasty. Thin crisp crust, fresh toppings, hot, and delicious. Good value. Worth going here.
PH C — Google review
The pizza crust was good. It was a thin crust. The location was neat as you can watch people returning to the U.S. and the agents questioning them while you eat. I agree with the political stickers they have. We hated the pepperoni and sauce. We won't be back.
Marcia M — Google review
Honestly better than any pizza I've ever had in New York or New Haven, CT. Will be making the trip up from Portland when I get cravings! Also, I gotta say, the people running this place are the warmest friendliest folks. Glad I got to support them.
Candace R — Google review
My favorite pizza in Maine, always make it a point to go at least a few times a summer, it’s a bit of a drive but more than worth the trip. Good ingredients, excellent sauce and perfect thin crust!
JJ D — Google review
Pizza soooooo tasty that it makes the easternmost US city feel like a place to stick around for a while!!! Honestly....come for the scenery but stay for the delicious food at Morano's. We had the Bianco pizza (pictured) and am order of meatballs with garlic knots. The kids loved playing corn hole during the short wait for our food, and we dined al fresco at the picnic tables. Delicious and a great value.
Brittany S — Google review
I am a SUPER picky pizza person and this is, by far, the BEST pizza I have EVER had! (outside of NYC. And that was years ago.). Every single place I've tried (and there are hundreds, coast to coast), just cannot get it right. Morano's gets it 100%. I am utterly bummed that I live 400 miles away because I would order multiple ones to freeze and have on hand if I could! Pizza sauce should not ever be sweet in any way, shape or form. Morano's is the perfect savory sauce. The cheese is full of flavor and the crust is perfectly thin in the center and puffy/crunchy on the edges. My mouth is watering thinking about it and looking at the pic I took. Every pizza place in the country should take a lesson from Morano's cause this is the absolute real deal.
Joanne M — Google review
To be honest, we came here due to Bass Crocker's review. We like to try places that are rated 'the worst', based on one review. Sure glad we did. Service was great, prompt and personable. Pizza was very tasty, just the right amount of sauce, cheese and toppings to blend well. Will be back! Update July 2025: Don't understand the handful of negative reviews - this place is a gem. The pizza is good, thin crust Jersey pizza. The owner is personable and gave us some good tips as to where to see the fireworks. I appreciate a hard worker who produces a great product at a fair price.
Lee G — Google review
If you want pizza in the Town of Lubec, this happens to be just about your only choice. Fortunately, Morano’s does a nice job preparing the pies. They focus on pizza, just pizza and have become good at it. The crust is good, crunchy where it needs to be and the sauce adds to the favor. Because they are popular, they do run out of pizza from time to time. Tip: You are better off to call early and get your order in on the nights they are open. The pizza makers are pleasant and try to accommodate.
