Lighthouses
Cape Forchu Lighthouse, situated near Yarmouth along Nova Scotia's southern shore, is a distinctive red-and-white beacon perched on a rocky headland. The lighthouse offers stunning sunset views and is surrounded by 19 acres of parkland, making it an ideal spot for photography. Visitors can explore the Leif Erikson Trail and enjoy well-maintained trails with beautiful coastal vistas.
So beautiful in here and the smell of the sea roses omg smells so calming in there. It was really foggy when we went, I bet it will be more beautiful without the fog. They have a coffee shop in there too! Not a fan of their coffee though, it’s very light tasting. We did not buy tickets, it’s free to go in.
April R — Google review
What a beautiful area. Enjoyed our time here at the lighthouse and the surrounding area. Lots of park benches, picnic tables and places to admire the area. We didn’t go up the stairs as we arrived after hours.
Helen G — Google review
Great views of Yarmouth Harbour from this iconic, historic lighthouse. It is truly an historic landmark and worth a visit. There are warnings posted about staying off the rocks, especially when the sea is rough. Here, as at Peggy's Cove, people have been swept off the rocks. Still, it was an amazing experience and I will be returning.
Dan T — Google review
A unique lighthouse with a short walking trail nearby. Great views and definitely worth a stop. It was fairly busy in mid-October, and the lighthouse museum was closed.
Illia — Google review
Cape Forchu Lighthouse A hidden gem in Yarmouth! The area is well-maintained, with great signage and fascinating historical information. It’s perfect for a short scenic walk and photography. Don’t miss the whale exhibit—“Meet Foggy the Fin Whale”—a unique and educational touch! After Peggy’s Cove Lighthouse, this is my second favorite. One of the top attractions in Yarmouth—highly recommended!
Sandeep R — Google review
What an amazing experience. The Yarmouth coast line is just beautiful. The staff at the Lighthouse was just as Amazing. I recommend anyone who decides to stop in, take the climb to the top. There is also a museum and little snack area, as well as a gift shop, all right there at the Lighthouse. On a good day, get out and walk the shore. They have the skeleton of a 🐋, and if you remember, make yourself a wooden sign with where you are from, with distance. Add it to the sign post along the shoreline. Was raining today, so didn't get to do all of it, plus short on time. Next time, will make sure to experience all that it has to offer. Thank you to the staff.......
Mark T — Google review
Beautiful spot that rivals Peggy's Cove, especially during a beautiful clear sunset. Great parking, wonderful views, and in the summertime, they have accessible valets to take to the end of the trail.
Danny M — Google review
Beautiful area with a unique apple shaped light house. It's up a little hill, but they have a shuttle that can take you up if you're need it. It's extra to go up in the light house.

Brewery
Food & Drink
Heritage Brewing Co. in Yarmouth is a delightful gem for anyone who appreciates craft beer and local flavors. Nestled on Main Street, this brewery beautifully marries tradition with modern brewing techniques, offering an impressive selection of handcrafted beers that pay homage to the region's heritage. Guests can indulge in tastings or take part in engaging brewery tours while enjoying the inviting atmosphere of the cozy taproom or outdoor patio.
My wife and I had a Friday off work and been wanting to try this place. Wasn't disappointed at all. Friendly staff and delicious brew 🍻. Check their website or socials for events too like karaoke 🎤 etc. Will be back soon to try their chips and dips too!
TS F — Google review
Great spot. Exactly what we were looking for. A nice brewery to relax in after a walk around the town taking in all that Yarmouth has to offer on nice sunny day!
Bill M — Google review
Always make a stop here on my annual Yarmouth visit! Incredibly fair prices and amazing beer! Got the chips and dip this time, it was so good & amazing portion for the price. Highly recommend!!
Maura M — Google review
Friendly and welcoming staff, good selection of beers that would fit most tastes. We did a couple tastings and while the beer doesn’t necessarily fit the traditional labels, they are very good and offer a complexity not found with most breweries. Live music was a fun plus and my husband and I felt completely at ease and comfortable.
Keith C — Google review
Tucked away on a side street when we visited, but understand that the brewery was moving to a larger space on Main Street. Enjoyed the beer as all the taps served a solid quality brew.
Jim W — Google review
Nice spot. Staff seem to be friendly. Had a flight. First time I’ve experienced this but nearly all the beers tasted like they had smoked malt. I suspect there is a water quality issue? I’m certified BJCP and this was very uncharacteristic. Even the cream ale was undrinkable. Will return to give it another try. Music was great!
Jamie A — Google review
Stopped by expecting a great choice of locally crafted beers, instead out of 15 beverages listed 5 were not available. No lagers available. Either they had a great run on lagers or poor reaction time to brew more. Disappointed! But the staff were friendly.

I always have a great time at Heritage Brewing company. They have lovingly crafted brews a lively atmosphere and friendly service. There is usually some kind of entertainment there as well. Fantastic place to go in Yarmouth.

If you're in Yarmouth, a visit to ICEWORKS Dairy & Espresso Bar is a must for bubble tea enthusiasts! This charming spot offers an array of delightful flavors of boba, complete with the signature tapioca pearls that make each sip a treat. But that's not all—ICEWORKS also serves delicious ice cream year-round and aromatic coffee, ensuring there's something for everyone to enjoy no matter the season.
I’m about to be a regular customer here!! The sushi is amazing and priced even better! I have a lot of mild allergies and she is always willing to make me a custom roll or two! I very much can’t wait to drink my way through the bubble tea menus! This place is one of my favourites in Yarmouth! They are always so friendly and kind! This place is definitely worth a stop

Nice little restaurant in Yarmouth. The ramen was a bit different from what I’ve had in the past, but it was tasty. Owners are friendly. Just a warning though. They have some random books that you can read (some on history) and one of them was definitely inappropriate for children. (There were historical images of extremely violent acts). Not sure if the owner removed that book or not after being brought to their attention.
Kyle W — Google review
Amazing place, the service is amazing, I love the Ramen they make. There is also their Boba tea which is on point. And the atmosphere is great. Couches are roughed up leather but they are the comfiest I've ever sat on.

Coffee shop
Sip Cafe Yarmouth is a local gem that started as a small kiosk in the area and quickly gained popularity for its wide selection of loose leaf teas. The cafe offers over 100 varieties of tea, making it a go-to spot for tea enthusiasts in Acadian Shores. Visitors praise the friendly and efficient staff, as well as the reasonably priced menu items. Additionally, patrons rave about the delicious flavor shots available at the cafe.
This is a great place if youre looking for a peaceful afternoon watching it go by with coffee. Great staff, aesthetically pleasing, great coffee. Food is great, selection of sandwiches, wraps, to-go snack cups. Their cookie and muffin selection is vast. For sure come grab a cup.
Ryan M — Google review
The coffee is ok, but there is much better coffee in Yarmouth in the immediate vicinity. The snacks here are recommended. The store is nicely decorated.
Marei B — Google review
Coffee is fine but their wraps have really not held up to the task. The chicken curry wrap was plain rice not even spiced with a few bits of chicken. The roasted pepper hummus had NO pepper but only large chunks of red onion not even diced. Hummus was only on one small part of the wrap. This is not the quality we are used to; we were told the chef is new. But training is a must as the food is a bust.
Leontine A — Google review
On our visit to Yarmouth, we stayed at the downtown area and Sip was at a walking so we tried their Hazelnut Latte and Caramel Macchiato, both were amazing. The next day we wanted tea and to our surprise they had a huge collection of loose tea. We tried their earl grey and Blueberry tea bothwere great. Highly recommend Sip Cafe.

Love love love this place. Been here for the past 5 days straight and can’t wait to come again. 🤩 They have a great selection of flavour shots (my fav is salted caramel & cookie dough). 🍮🍪 The staff are super friendly and fast! I’m from Vancouver & was surprised when they remembered my order on the second day. 🥰 Everything is also reasonably priced :) Needless to say, I’m kind of obsessed and love this place!
Andrea C — Google review
Coffee is good as are some of their snacks and desserts. I also had a smoked salmon breakfast wrap which was absolutely terrible. The service isn't the best, always feel that I am burdening staff with my order, could just be a hipster barista thing.
Ahmad — Google review
Didn't enjoy the hotel coffee, so I walked a short distance and got myself Sip's americano. Delicious! Also try the apple pie. It's not often that I ask for a breakfast sausage panini and a slice of pie. No regrets. It's a pretty chill atmosphere with lots of seating. Interior is basically wood. Like having a Vancouver cafe in Yarmouth.

It offers an extensive collection of artifacts and interactive displays that explore the town's maritime history, shipbuilding heritage, Acadian and Mikmaq culture, and overall regional heritage. Visitors can immerse themselves in the rich history of Yarmouth through diverse exhibits and gain a deeper understanding of its cultural tapestry.
A surprisingly understated museum with many beautiful and interesting artifacts. It leaves you with a sense of Yarmouth’s faded but illustrious past. A wonderful place to spend a few hours.

We were visiting Yarmouth and took an afternoon to see the Mastodon. But wow -- so many other cool things to see! Kids twelve and under are free; adults are $12. It was definitely worth the visit.

I've been to this museum a few times, and there was always a friendly volunteer to greet you when you go in, however this time(July 14th) a young lady with dyed green colour in her hair was at the front area. She didn't look up didn't acknowledge us in any way(2 teenage guys were also there volunteering and didn't acknowledge us either). I've worked in museums before and your always supposed to smile, welcome the tourists to the museum talk a tiny bit about the building tell them if they have any questions to let you know and ask them to sign the guest book. The director of the museum needs to have a talk with the young volunteers and inform them how to properly interact with people, no excuse to be rude, people who work in a museum should have a passion for history not look like they could care less, McDonald's and Tim Hortons is always hiring if you need something to do!

The Yarmouth Museum is an absolute treasure that deserves a five-star rating! From the moment you step inside, you’re greeted by a wealth of history and engaging exhibits that truly bring the region's past to life. The museum is well-organized, making it easy to navigate through the various displays, which cover everything from local maritime history to cultural artifacts. The staff is incredibly knowledgeable and passionate about the museum’s offerings, always ready to share fascinating stories and insights. I especially enjoyed the interactive elements, which make learning fun for visitors of all ages. The museum's location is also lovely, providing a pleasant atmosphere for a leisurely visit. Whether you're a history enthusiast or just looking for a unique experience in Yarmouth, this museum is a must-visit. I left feeling enriched and eager to return! Highly recommend it!

The Firefighters’ Museum of Nova Scotia, situated in a historic fire station, is an essential stop for those exploring Yarmouth. It provides a fascinating insight into the area's firefighting history through its extensive array of firefighting gear, vintage fire trucks, and memorabilia. The museum showcases the progression of firefighting methods and equipment over time and offers interactive displays that honor the courage of local firefighters.
I hadn't been here since a class trip over 25 years ago. I watched a you tube video about the circus ship that caught on fire at the Yarmouth wharf and it refueled my desire to go. The staff was extremely knowledgeable and the trucks were just mind blowing.
Matthieu B — Google review
What a lovely museum dedicated to firefighting in NS. It's a self-guided tour but the staff were super friendly and told us to ask if we had any questions. Some very interesting olf fire engines and equipment on display, and some fascinating archives of previous local major events the fire service attended.
Jon S — Google review
We were here first thing in the morning and so got a lot of personal attention from Gary. His history and knowledge of the museum is awesome. He made our visit a real learning experience. The exhibit is outstanding, and the museum houses a nice selection of pumps, fire engines and memorabilia. There is a very interesting room toward the back left on the first floor that speaks to the fire alarm warning boxes seen throughout a town/city. We paid $5 per person entrance fee, reduced for 65 and older, as well as kids. It was money well spent to see this wonderful museum. Kids are allowed to sit on one of the trucks to explore and pose for pictures, so this is an excellent place for kids. I highly recommend with the caveat that Gary will make your visit much more interesting than a run through the museum without him.
P W — Google review
The museum offers a large, rare collection of firefighting memorabilia. You can see nearly every type of fire engine ever used in Nova Scotia, as well as patches and badges from fire services from around the world.
Dan T — Google review
Wow what can I say about this large museum, but fantastic. They have so many artifacts that are well persevered and kept to their natural state as if they were brand new. Small fee (Five Canadian) with what they have should be chartered more (shhhhhh). Staff are super friendly and courteous and helpful.
RUSSELL S — Google review
A wonderful trip back in time. We have all seen these in the old movies, now here is a chance to see them in person and 'imagine'. Yes, imagine how they ever put out any large fires with these tiny pieces of apparatus. Thanks to the ingenuity of men and women over the years, things have evolved. Thanks to those who have preserved this piece of history for us.
Jack — Google review
If I could have caught my sons reaction when we walked in, the moment he went "Fire" it would have been but a glimpse of the excitement he felt crossing the threshold. Filed to the brim with old, restored fire engines, equipment, brotherhood. It gives a glimpse into the history of Yarmouth itself through its turmoil, and loss. It's truely a think of beauty to behold
Robert F — Google review

The coffee shop Perky Owl Coffee Inc. is a great place to relax and enjoy a cup of coffee or tea. The coffee is delicious, and the prices are reasonable.
Very cute cafe with very good Java and fresh desserts and munchies. The staff are very friendly and there are even a few musical instruments you can play. The artwork is also really nice, owl focused and traditional as well as sophisticated/modern. I highly recommend paying a visit if you are in Yarmouth. PS the bubble makers are fun for kids and adults alike.

I really enjoy the pizzas and donair egg rolls at Greco Pizza. The service is excellent and the restaurant is clean. The only minor issue I have is the moldy smell that greets you when you enter the old building. It would be great if they could find a way to eliminate this musky odor as it overpowers the smell of their delicious food. Apart from that, everything about Greco Pizza is fantastic - from the tasty food to the top-notch service!
The owner is over the top friendly and his level of customer service is top notch. The pizza is 100 percent the best pizza in SW Nova
Barrie S — Google review
I keep forgetting how absolutely delicious their pizza is.... Great service and started in NB 🙌👍❤️
Matthieu B — Google review
I got 2 medium pizzas and garlic bread, the garlic bread had garlic powder and some kind of unknown cheese with undercooked dough. The pizzas were just as bad, undercooked and I have no idea what kind of sauce they used, supposed to be tomato sauce but tasted like bbq, although the toppings were a little overcooked.
Aaron — Google review
Asked for the garlic parm crust got nothing and little no sauce
Drew P — Google review
Worst service ever!!! Went way before the time they close and was told (shouted) by an employee working in the back that they were closed. As i was walking out another employee comes to take the order and i asked confused if they were closed? He then asked the guy in the back again and they didn’t end up taking my order. I do not myself go to places 2 minutes before closing so i did not appreciate the fact that they didn’t serve us when there was still time left. And if they were close why were the doors still open with a red sign that said OPEN!! Google said open too ! Extremely bad customer service!
Annie N — Google review
Decent pizza. But the are very inconsistent. Multiple times now they have cancelled orders for no reason without notice. And multiple times have they accepted a order and just never delivered it because they decided they didn't want to. Word of advice. Pay ahead so they can't just decide they don't wanna make your food and not tell you. So tired of their inconsistent service.
Kevin S — Google review
Always good and always fresh Edit If you like listening to screaming Arabic music, then this is the place to go. A dump since new ownership.
Andrew M — Google review
I do like their pizzas and donair egg rolls. Service is great and it's clean. The only issue( not really a complaint) I have. Is the moldy smell I get when I walk into the business. Many people have complained about the order. It has nothing to do with the owner what so ever. The building is very OLD. But I just wish they'd find a way to get rid of the smell of the muskiness. It over powers the smell of the food. OTHER THEN THAT.....Food is great and so is the service!!!😊

Located in downtown Yarmouth, the Rodd Grand Yarmouth offers straightforward rooms with free WiFi. The hotel features an indoor pool, sauna, restaurant, and bar. Guests appreciate its convenient location within walking distance of the waterfront dock, restaurants, shops, and local parks. While some find the rooms a bit dated, they are clean and comfortable. The on-site restaurant is highly regarded for its quality and value.
5 stars to this hotel.it had been a while since I had stayed in the hotel. They were doing construction outside the hotel and they had signs up apologizing for any noise, but the upgrades they are doing and done to the hotel are great! The rooms were spacious, and clean. The service at the restaurant and hotel bar were great! And I made sure to utilize the amenities like the pool and gym. As well as friendly staff as well. GREAT place to stay! As its also very central as well.

Slightly tired looking from the outside but nice, clean and stylish inside. Large comfortable rooms with the best and comfiest mattresses we've slept on for some time.. Good little gym and large pool with sauna was much appreciated. Polite front desk staff.
Phil H — Google review
We expected more of this room for the price! It did have a nice view from the 6th floor and was very quiet. But, the bed was too soft, the lamp shade had holes in it but the worst was the bathroom, zero counter space , hardly enough for one, let alone two people. The toilet was way too low, the bathroom is just not big enough. Parking is practically non existent - we had to park across the street. Probably would not go back!
Jill M — Google review
All has been said in previous review. Nice, comfortable room and beds. One think that requires staff attention. Ever slept above the noise exhaust of a kitchen fan? There is no fun in that. Give it a try one day yourself Management. And we were relocated to 5th floor (512) at arrival.

It’s time to renovate and update this room. Double bed mattress was okay as single and was comfortable. Furnishings have seen better days. Arm chair needs cleaning or replacement. Hallway smells funky. It is close to the ferry.

Our room was fine and enjoyed the pool, unfortunately the service in the restaurant was very slow, the waitress was very friendly but the wait for our food was long and we chose this hotel for the early breakfast 6:30 am before we left for the ferry. At 7am we were told the wait staff was on their way but we could not wait . Need more cooks and wait staff .

This place is right in the center of town. The staff at the front desk was extremely helpful, friendly, and cheerful. The room was very clean and comfortable. A big plus for me was the heated swimming poo and exercise room. There is also a restaurant where we had breakfast.

Fast food restaurant
Ice cream shop
The Dairy Queen Grill & Chill is a popular fast-food chain known for its delicious soft-serve ice cream and specialty milkshakes. Under new ownership, the restaurant has made significant improvements in both food quality and employee satisfaction. Customers rave about their 1/3 double cheeseburger and exceptionally tasty fries, which stand out among other establishments. The friendly staff reflects the management's investment in their employees' well-being, fostering a positive work environment.
This place is so terrible, I had lost my purse there and I was asking if the staff had found it, when, I was asking they seemed very impatient and rude, they would not look out back for my purse and refused to check any sort of camera. Also a good part of the time when I go there they get my order wrong, example: not giving me a cheeseburger, giving me wrong flavour of icecream, giving me onion rings instead of fries, the list goes on and on. The tables are also always dirty. My point being this is not the best restaurant if you looking for a place with good customer service and not getting you order wrong, I would not go to Dairy Queen.
Lois S — Google review
I paid 30 dollars for 2 meals that are the size of a kids meal at McDonalds.

Will not eat there again. DQ used to be the best fast food. They are constantly getting Door Dash orders wrong (ie. missing items, cold food and high prices).

This place sell rotten burgers with bad sauce expired and product like potato fries taste gross does not even changed oil since long. One of my frd works inside and mentioned owner save every penny for their pocket to get more and giving not appropriate food to customers. Think twice before you visit at this location

Feedback on Unsatisfactory Service I am writing to express my disappointment regarding the service my child and I received at Daily Queen Grill and Chill During our order, a staff member treated us disrespectfully by carelessly throwing a paper cup onto the counter for my son to get water while he was ordering hamburgers. This behavior was not only unprofessional but also disrespectful, especially considering that my child was present. Such an attitude created an uncomfortable experience for both of us, which is not what I expect when visiting a service establishment. I sincerely hope that measures will be taken to improve staff conduct, ensuring that all customers, particularly children, receive the respectful and attentive service they deserve. I believe that respect and care for customers are essential components of any service industry.

Could not get to pop machine because a ladder left in the way and tables were dirty. Tons of staff but they seemed more interested in chatting in their language that serving people or cleaning
Ray M — Google review
I realize we were probably annoying while ordering, not on purpose though. After you spoke perfect English through the ordering process, it didn't go unnoticed when you spoke French and then looked at us. The ice that you put in the cup, didn't help the warm flat soda. I gave it a 2 because my son liked his fries.
Jane K — Google review
We ordered. Poutine and was told the fries were weighted out and it container had less then 20 fries on it. $6 and got nothing horrible instead of them filling it. They stood and argued to us

One of my new favorite places to have a nice fancy type lunch-in experience with a little European café flare. The owner was very passionate about her food service and therefore made the experience all the more enjoyable. Great coffees, nibbler platters and sweet or savoury crêpes to be had. I was even suggested the wines which was a new menu addition this year. Loved that there’s a take out window option for those in a hustle. The prices may be a bit on the high side but definitely worth it for the experience as I am a dining experience kinda gal.

My experience here was awhile ago now... I keep trying to go again, and missing their open hours. We toured the beautiful gallery, and spoke to the really welcoming and interesting proprietor. My mother, who studied architecture, had to be dragged away from the house. We ordered a chocolate, a ginger and a strawberry ice cream. Hands down, the best ice cream I've had in the province. (And I've tried a lot of ice cream here). My chocolate was rich and creamy, the strawberry was a strawberry base with pieces of strawberry, and the ginger was the same. Ginger is really hard to find, so I hope they still carry it. Well worth a stop.

We were seated and ordered our food within minutes of entering the café. Food arrived exactly as ordered - they use a tablet, so be patient when you are a picky eater like me, lol! Our food was wonderful, and as you can see from the picture, the portions are huge. My mom's breakfast was already half eaten when I took the picture. They have an all day breakfast. The only downside I saw was there was no kids menu or small activities like coloring for kids.

Rudders Seafood Restaurant & Brew Pub is a popular spot in Yarmouth serving up traditional pub food and fresh seafood. The brewpub features a waterfront patio with access to the marina, making it the perfect spot for a festive hangout with friends. In peak times you may need reservations, so don't miss out!
Just got off the ferry? Turn left, down the road is rudders. Relaxed, comfy, hot food, cold beer. It's a staple of Yarmouth. The chicken wings are on point, and their local brew is affordable at 8$ for 20oz. It's worth a stop in.

We had 2 appetizers, coconut shrimp and bacon wrapped scallops. Both deep fried and of average quality but good. The sauce that comes with the shrimp is a honey marmalade and was the highlight of meal. Mains were disappointing. Fisherman's platter just wasn't it. Have had much better. Then a house salad add salmon, the salmon was too fishy for my taste. Salad was okay though. Was too windy to sit outside or there is a beautiful view. The music playing and atmosphere made the time enjoyable. Probably won't rush back though.

Great spot overlooking the water. We sat outside and it was lovely as the sun was setting. We both had the fresh haddock lemon pepper style, mashed potatoes and a side of the wonderful veggie medley that had turnip, broccoli, and carrot in a light maple glaze. The cup of Turkey soup to start was delish And warming. My partner loved the strawberry blonde beer. Overall a good experience.

I got the hot creamed lobster roll, and it was delicious, though a little light on lobster compared to the cold one. I paid $5 extra to upgrade to seafood chowder as the side, and it was a huge disappointment. Water, milk, a ton of butter, potatoes and a bit of not-so-great fish. No other seafood. Adding crackers, salt and pepper made it edible but not super enjoyable. It was just really disappointing. When asked how everything was, I decided to be honest and say it was disappointing, and got treated to a bit of a lecture about how it's traditional here, and they don't serve 'mushy' chowder (?) like they do in other parts of the world. I have been to some places where they do believe chowders should be 'soupy' but those were also flavorful.....and had some seafood other than leftover fish in them. Thankfully most other seafood chowders I've had in NS have been FAR better.

We are touring the maritimes...starting with Nova Scotia....drove the RV into Yarmouth and immediately felt the very cool 'vibe'. So much so that we decided to eat out (not a common event)..did the inevitable 'Net search and came up with Rudders. So...Rudders is a craft brewery that has a full menu...and outside seating with a fabulous view. No..we didn't...was a tad too cool...however, we more than made up for that with our dinners. Sharon ordered Lobster Mac n Cheese. Panco crust..and a healthy portion of lobster. 'We' thought is was great. It did not have a heavy cream sauce..applauded that. Not too rich that couldn't have dessert. I kinda went overboard...1st, two fresh oysters on the1/2 shell. Medium sized and yummy. Then the appie sized bowl of mussels in the Cajun sauce...served with garlic baguette. I only had such a wee bit of the bread....to top it off, I had an order of seafood crepes....loaded with lobster and scallops...and I ate one, saving the second for lunch. Sharon had the chocolate pate, for dessert...and loved it. Very rich and creamy. We really did enjoy the food. I like getting involved with my food...fingers, tongue and lips...it's not always pretty. My oysters and mussels satisfied that! The crepes were fork food...and all was delish!!
Gary H — Google review
We both had the Hot Lobster Roll with vegetables. They're very generous with their lobster, the sauce for the rolls is of course fantastic and what I really found tasty was the vegetables... Turnip, carrot, broccoli... And something else I don't remember.

it has the towns only harbour view for dining - so it has that going for it, but that's about it. the beer isn't my taste, but some people prefer it. every time you go something is gonna be screwed up, wrong salads, wilted greens, food that is cold, and the kitchen staff don't really seem to care (i like onion, prefer not to have the root). but, it has the harbour view

The local hotel recommended this restaurant…so off we go. We’ve been in Nova Scotia for 10 days and have eaten out every night in numerous restaurants thru out Nova Scotia. Well for the last meal before we board the ferry back to Maine we tried Rudder’s…should have gone to KFC. The hostess seats in a table where the sun blares into my wife’s eyes we ask her to lower the shades she turns and walks away so we pull the table back out of the sun. The server arrives who in turns lowers the shade. We order our meals and within short time they arrive. I ordered the shrimp and scallop linguine and my wife order the haddock and shrimp. I look at my plate and noted that there was adequate pasta but where’s the seafood? I counted 3 scallops and 3 shrimp. I have no problem paying for a meal but $25.00 was a sham! My wife’s haddock was the smallest piece of fish we’ve had in our 10 days here. The shrimp was anemic at best! Her meal was $30.00 again what a sham! It tasted okay but for $88.00 and with no alcohol that was an UNDERWHELMING dinner. We told the server who apologized we expected the manager to come over as most decent restaurants do but that never happened. I don’t expect and want a “comp” but at least an apology. Not recommended!

Fish & chips restaurant
Harv’s Place in Yarmouth is a hidden gem that offers delicious food and excellent service. The restaurant's mushroom caps are deep-fried to perfection, bursting with flavor. The meatloaf dinner special is surprisingly large and incredibly tasty. The attentive staff, like Melissa, go above and beyond to make the dining experience extra special by paying attention to details and ensuring customer satisfaction. Dishes like creamed lobster and haddock with crunchy batter are highly recommended.
My family went stopped by there for the first time last night on our way home and what a great little gem. I ordered the mushroom caps, along with the meatloaf dinner special. The mushrooms were just as I expected them to be, deep fried with a pop of juice and flavour when eaten. What I didn’t expect was the meatloaf dinner to be as large as it was, and quite frankly, as good as it was. The meatloaf while simple in added ingredients (which is a bonus in my books) was flavourful and quite enjoyable. The mashed potatoes are distinctively homemade with a little seasoning leaving you room to add your own or not. For me, the peas were the least favourite part of the dish as they tasted as though they were from a can, but given the meatloaf and mashed potatoes, I didn’t really care. The over all atmosphere of the diner was small, intimate, with a feeling of walking into grandma’s house for dinner. It was clean, and featured inviting artwork for decor. For me, the waitress was personable, allowed for time to enjoy food before asking if it was ok, and over all was pleasant and continued the feeling of being at grandma’s house for dinner with informal service, which is what I would expect from a diner. I would highly recommend this diner for anyone looking for a great meal that includes good portion sizes, a personable wait experience, clean environment. The great prices of the food is pure bonus!

Down home straight from the ocean food! It’s nothing fancy, but the food is good and decently priced! Try the pie, you won’t be disappointed!! The only complaint I have (which is strictly personal) is the batter on the fish wasn’t my favourite. I prefer super crunchy batter
Kristin M — Google review
I ordered a seafood platter and lobster poutine, lots of seafood and too much fry on the platter. Everything was good, the menu was small, I was craving for seafood chowder but they don't have it.
Andy C — Google review
Food was good and prices were good. Service was great. My only complaint would be that the restaurant is in need of a couple air conditioners.
Mike M — Google review
My partner works out of town for the season and when I’m there gets me to grab him fish and mashed potato’s. Good portions and pricing. Always down to support local. And he says their mashed potato’s are amazing :)

We have never tried this cute diner before and walked in ten minutes before they were closing, and they welcomed us in to sit to eat nonetheless. Absolutely amazing fried breaded haddock - delish! Thank you ladies :)
Sheila Y — Google review
Great timing is happening upon Harv's Place when Lobster Poutine is a special of the day! My wife had haddock with onion rings, and loved every bite. We also split a piece of Harv's homemade peanut butter pie. It was light, fluffy, and packed with intense peanut buttery flavor. Great place with great service.

Specialty Museums
Sweeney Museum is a small but charming maritime museum packed with old shipping and fishing memorabilia. The authentic exhibits offer a glimpse into the area's rich history, making it a fascinating place to spend an hour browsing through the collection. Visitors can enjoy the original wooden floors and old books, immersing themselves in the ambiance of the past. The museum offers a unique experience as it lacks computer displays or interactive features, allowing guests to truly connect with the artifacts.
Amazing collection of working fishing dock buildings of a major fish wholesale distributor in Yarmouth NS. Also a 1/3 scale wood boat with fittings all collected from original fleet.
Eric T — Google review
Absolutely worth visiting if you are in Yarmouth. The information and exhibits allowed us to understand Yarmouth and the shipping and fishing industry in this area much better. The design of the museum is very intelligent as they fit whole buidlings, offices and a boat into the museum space by deconstructing the originals and rebuilding them at a smaller scale. Still the purpose of the rooms and the ship are intact which makes the exhibition much more real and vivid. Brilliant idea, congratulations. We enjoyed our visit and our little chat with the super friendly lady in the museum. Rudder' s Seafood Restaurant is only steps away and an excellent choice after the visit for lunch or dinner.

We hadn’t intended on visiting this museum, but when the Yarmouth County Museum was closed for a window replacement we decided to check it out. The admission for the two of us was less than 10 dollars and Julie greeted us warmly and was very knowledgeable! She gave my son (7 years old) a scavenger hunt and he happily explored the museum and exhibits, working away at it for over an hour! When we needed some help, Julie gave us some hints and also offered wonderful context and information about everything on display. We got to climb up and explore a boat and get some fun pictures at the wheel as well. When we left we were both so pleased with the visit and fun time! Definitely worth a visit! Thanks so much for the lovely time!

Such an amazing place to visit. You can learn so much about the fishing industry.

This was a delight of a museum! Historic buildings reassembled indoors to recreate a wharf with all the equipment. Lots of photos, books and archive materials too!

A real museum. No computer displays or interactive stuff just packed full of old shipping/fishing memorabilia. Fascinating place to spend an hour browsing our maritime history. It even smells old from the original wooden floors and old books. Just marvelous And the staff are knowledgeable about the collection and local history. Sorry to “gush” over it but I really enjoyed my visit today and I hope you do too

Yarmouth Walking Tours offer a great way to explore the history, architecture, folklore, and legends of this marine town. Located on the western coast of Nova Scotia, Yarmouth has deep connections to the fishing industry and is home to working wharves, fish plants, and museums. The area's history dates back to Viking expeditions led by Leif Erikson around 1000 AD.
My wife and I took an eerie and ominous tour and we loved it. Fun and fascinating. Candice was an excellent guide and the stories were super interesting. Looking forward to doing another tour with a different theme soon.

Wendy's is a fast-food burger chain that offers a variety of sides like chili and baked potatoes. When you're contemplating what to have for supper, Wendy's comes to mind as it provides options that tantalize the taste buds. Forget about meatloaf or pasta, and even if you forgot to defrost steak, Wendy's has got your back. Their #6, the Spicy Chicken Sandwich, is an extraordinary choice that delivers an explosion of flavor.
The food is always nice and hot here .. they just lack customer service when you at the service windows

dirty seating, dirty bathroom. our server was rude. The server talked about me and laughed to her fellow worker when I said she did not listen and my order was wrong. she was not very polite when I asked if someone could clean the table we wanted to sit at. She did clear the trays from the table, however she did not wipe it off. see picture. overall experience - I am very happy to say I live 3 hours away and probably won't be back any time soon!!

I ordered a Dave's double i drove home to enjoy needless to say I open the bag to not even a Dave's single that I just payed over 10$ for and to help even more no one is answering the phone after calling 10 times to speak with someone!!!! Something big would have to happen for me to go back.

Actually I enjoy the food. The staff in the cashier are very welcoming. Compared to the Indian staff who handing out to me the food. No smile, no thank you. This staff is lack of friendliness. Aside from that their kitchen is so dirty and messy. Most of them are not washing hands . I see most of them touching food . Which is like food safety issue. I think most of the staff should undergo training for customer service and food safety especially the Indian staff. I am not racist or anything. But this is my observation to my every visit. But compared to tim hortons. Most of staff are friendly.

Seafood restaurant
Marco's Grill & Pasta House is a delicious Italian restaurant that offers amazing food and great service. Their cheesecake is to die for, and their fish chowder is really tasty too. They're definitely one of our new favorite places to eat!
The portions were a good size, and the sauces were rich and tasty. This was a filling and enjoyable meal. The service was exceptional, and the wine was nice. Two small critiques; the brown ceiling could be changed to a lighter colour to brighten the place up, and the garlic bread on the side of the pastas had little flavour.
Lawrence D — Google review
If you love seafood yourself then you will not be disappointed with their seafood Lasagna. It's a great choice to incorporate a healthy combination of pasta and tossed salad with Catalina dressing. The service is excellent! We enjoyed our family dinner here!
Cherry N — Google review
Food was great, competitively priced with large portions. Staff was friendly and service was quick. If it were not 4hrs from home would be a regular for sure
Dave M — Google review
The pan-fried scallops were absolutely exquisite, perfectly seared to achieve a golden-brown crust while remaining tender and succulent on the inside. The fish was incredibly fresh, bursting with flavor and complemented by a delightful seasoning that elevated each bite. The lasagna was rich and hearty, layers of pasta interspersed with indulgent cheese and a savory marinara that created a comforting and satisfying dish. Lastly, the bruschetta featured freehly baked bread topped with a vibrant mix of ripe tomatoes, fragrant basil, and a drizzle of balsamic glaze, making for a refreshing and delicious appetizer.
Edward — Google review
My wife had a chicken and broccoli pasta dish, and I had the half rack ribs. The dishes were great and very tasty. For us, though, there was too much sauce in the pasta dish, not a big deal. Also, my wife felt it was too much food for her. She really did enjoy it and would have it again easily. My ribs fell right off the bone and were very tasty as well. Even though you can have the argument that if the meat falls off the bones, then the ribs are overcooked. They were not dry, so to me, they were just right. We would easily eat here again.

We went last night at 5pm it was busy but not crazy, food took about 10 minutes after ordering and it was spectacular. Chicken Parm with Alfredo. I highly recommend 👍🙌

We split an entree of chicken schnitzel with mushroom sauce, which was fantastic. The real delight was the homemade coconut cream pie. Definitely save room for dessert! Service was fast and friendly too.

We arrived without reservations on a very busy weeknight 6pm. Luckily we got a seat. I'd recommend reservations during summer as you don't want to miss out on a great feed. We had Digby scallops, fast service and hot food. Greek side salad was delightful. Thanks Danielle for the great service. Order the coconut cream pie it's worth it! Restaurant
If you're looking for a delicious and nutritious sandwich, check out Old World Bakery And Deli. They have a wide variety of sandwiches that are perfect for lunch or dinner, including lamb and taziki sauce. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable about the food, making it easy to choose the right sandwich for you.
My wife is a vegan, so we searched for that and found this gem. The second we entered we were enthralled with the entire vibe. The decor, the materials of construction, the layout, the mild ‘60s music, and the overall peaceful feeling all combined to set the stage for what was about to come. We began by chatting with the owner. He is so gracious and kind - we learned about the vegan offerings as well as the non-vegan choices. I loved the Yarmouth Beef on white bread. She devoured her veggie sandwich on brown bread. The selection of contents for each sandwich was large, so much to choose from. They are very generous with the proportions. We had more than enough! For dessert I enjoyed a plum muffin. I hear ya’! When was the last time THAT was on the menu‽ It was scrumptious. I enjoyed it with a cup of handmade hot chocolate. A great combination. Would we dine here again? I exclaimed, “I’d move IN here!!!” If this was in our town we’d be regulars for sure. We’ll have to settle for this superb vacation memory. The Old World Bakery and Deli will forever be our new standard for what every bakery/deli/coffee/hot chocolate shop should be.

Delicious fresh made sandwiches on their own bakery buns (we chose sourdough) - generous amount of fresh roasted white chicken meat and lovely roast beef with your choice of deli cheeses, with any fresh toppings (green or red pepper slices, onions, lettuce, tomato etc) - was delicious! Amazing old building and old deli style feel in the space - would be fun if we could see the bakery activity (which I believe is upstairs). Thank you!
Sheila Y — Google review
First off the Sandwiches were so delicious 😋 So nice to have fresh ingredients. I had the chicken sandwich on sourdough bread, no sauces and all the available veggies and smoked Gouda, and my husband had the roast beef on sourdough with his choice of toppings and cheese. Sooo good and filling. But, even though the sandwiches were delicious I was so amazed about how outstanding the customer service was from start to finish. The service was top notch. Atmosphere and ambiance cannot be beaten. Will definitely be returning again and again. Definitely worth 1hour to 2 hour drive .

Another great opportunity to support local businesses and farms in Yarmouth! Superb customer service with knowledge about the food and health benefits of the food they prepare! Today I had the lamb sandwich on multi-grain bread with fresh romaine lettuce, green and red peppers, feta cheese and topped with taziki sauce! Not to forget the Baklava that was so good that I forgot to take a photo! They currently have a limited menu but with still so many salads and other options that it is hard to choose! I guess I'll have to go back again and satisfy my curiosity!

Easily one of the best places to eat in Yarmouth. The food is delicious, fresh, and REAL food. Bread is baked fresh in house, and the soups and stews are to die for. You are literally always granted service with a smile and the atmosphere inside the restaurant is phenomenal. I recommend this to anyone looking for a delicious and filling meal!

Fresh ingredients, good location, clear entrance and exit following Covid protocols. We ordered a sandwich and muffin to share. The price was pretty steep coming to $20 plus tax and tips for just two items. I wish the muffin was warmed up for a few seconds in the microwave prior to being served, because both the sandwich and muffin was cold, which we weren’t used to for a breakfast meal.
