Roosevelt Campobello International Park, located in New Brunswick, is the former summer home of Franklin D. Roosevelt and Eleanor Roosevelt, now transformed into a museum within a vast seaside nature park with trails. Visitors can reach the island via a bridge from Lubec, Maine or by ferry from L'etete to Deer Island and then to Campobello Island. The park offers over 8 miles of scenic roads and walking trails for exploration.
We've visited 3 times in the last two years and every time it has been a good experience. The museum/gift shop is very informative and inviting. The grounds are immaculate and lovely. The free tour of the Roosevelt cottage is engaging.

This was a cool place with a lot of history. There was no charge to enter and they provided a tour of Roosevelts 18 bedroom summer cottage. There's a small visitor center with collectible stamps for those who stamp at national parks and national historic sites. There's a small gift shop and a restaurant on site as well. Their gardens and landscaping are very well kept and we're beautiful to look at as well.
Lisa J — Google review
A fantastic visit. Bathrooms are located at the visitor center with modern amenities. Plenty of parking. Staff is extremely helpful and does a great job providing information. Tours are great and informative with tours leaving every 15 minutes. We were there during the shoulder season, so it was not too crowded. There are three properties to visit, 4 if you include Prince Cottage which is their restaurant a definite must try. There are also walking and bike / carriage paths to visit and take in the island scenery. Be advised that the island is on Atlantic time. Our phones did not switch over from Eastern until we were further north on the Island so pay close attention if you are attending events at a specific time. There are clocks in the visitor center if you need to acclimate. The gift shop has a great selection of books on the Roosevelt family as well.

We came for the day on a Friday. Going through Customs at Lubec was painless and the park is anshort way across the border with ample parking. The information center is very well maintained and staffed. I got a map of the grounds and one of Campobello Island and used the very clean restroom. No pets except service animals are allowed in any of the buildings so we took turns minding our maltipoo and taking the 30 minute tour of the Roosevelt cottage. Tours are every 15 minutes so it was easy to get in 2 consecutive tours. It was very interesting and the guide was well informed and very likeable. I wandered the grounds and went down to the boat dock while waiting my turn for the tour. There are several other buildings and cottages as well. We had lunch at the Prince Cafe just down the lawn from the Roosevelt Cottage, very good food and ample servings. We sat outside on the veranda with our dog and ate with a lovely view. Service was very good and prices reasonable.

Lots of history here as the 40 room house is full of family pictures, memorabilia and original furniture. I loved the large kitchen and “president” stove. Be sure to have Tea with Eleanore in another property that was donated to Campobello. A history of the former 1st lady is told during tea time. All free.
Tyler D — Google review
Such a beautiful spot filled with so much history! It was torrential rain when I was there, so I didn't get a chance to fully explore all the trails in the park. I think a second trip may be needed! My tour guide was wonderful and brought alive the spirit of the Roosevelts. The Visitor's Center is full of information as well as fun souvenirs.
Sharon D — Google review
An historical wonder, being that Canada and the USA share operations of this park. It is free to enter and go into the buildings. You can pay to have tea and cookies at "Tea with Eleanor" or "Cocktails with Franklin", but throwing the buildings is free. Incredible restorations and history.
Matthew W — Google review
A special place indeed. An "international park" as they call it, although you must be in Canada for visit. The site of President Roosevelt's summer cottage and area he met his wife. When we went the visitors center had just closed, but the staff were extremely helpful in going back inside unprompted and providing us with maps and assistance. They went the extra mile and made our brief trip well worth it. The cottage itself seems marvelous. There are views looking out to Eastport, Maine which seems so close you could cast a stone to it's shores. The trails make for lovely strolls. Worth a visit.

West Quoddy Head Lighthouse is a well-preserved historic site with a charming keeper's house and an on-site visitor's center. The small museum offers insightful displays about the lighthouse's history, local flora and fauna, as well as a guide to whale watching. Visitors can enjoy stunning views from the picnic area and explore coastal trails with glimpses of Grand Manan Island across the Quoddy Channel.
Very fun to say you've been to the easternmost point in the contiguous US! Quiet location with a few neat walking trails and sights. Worth the drive from Bar Harbor / Acadia area for a day trip!
William M — Google review
Such a great stop for the whole family. It’s really affordable and super easy to get to, which made it stress-free. It was busy when we went, but it never felt crowded or overwhelming. The views are gorgeous, and there are miles of scenic trails that are well-marked, easy to walk, and perfect for just wandering around and taking it all in. Just a short walk or drive away there’s also a little sandy beach that was a big hit with the kids. Nice and clean, and a great place to relax for a while. Between the lighthouse, the trails, and the beach, there’s plenty to see and do without feeling rushed. Definitely recommend if you’re in the area!
Aaron N — Google review
This was a great point of interest! The light house and the views were so pretty! If you make ot to the light house there is a trail that takes you on a beautiful hike on the cliffs edge with breath taking views and one of our favorite beaches we visited!
Jordan C — Google review
The lighthouse was closed for the day but the view from the cliff was nice, and we easily found some nice hiking/walking trails in that state park. They led to the rocks at low tide and provided some very nice views. The trail into the arctic bog was more fascinating than expected.

780-mile drive? Worth. Every. Mile. This red-and-white striped beauty sits at the easternmost tip of the continental U.S.—cue dramatic Atlantic waves, salty breezes, and jaw-dropping views. Stroll the cliffs, snap the iconic “Welcome to the East” sign, and watch the light sweep across the ocean—it’s a total soul reset. Lubec’s cozy streets and fresh seafood make it the perfect road-trip cherry on top. Pro tip: Dress in layers—this lighthouse has a personality, and it’s windy.
Lawkaanat — Google review
A few other people but beautiful and definitely a place to hangout for a little bit. The 2 hikes right there on the cliffs have amazing views as well.

Unfortunately it was foggy for the sunrise but it cleared up in a few hours, to be a beautiful day, well worth the walk around and down to the water, many different geological features in a condensed area.

The Quoddy Head lighthouse.. is the eastern most point in the contiguous United States. It’s a nice lighthouse to see. I would like to note that in the first picture I did remove the fence that they have to make a better picture. Thought I’d be honest. Enjoy! It’s a great stop.

Campobello Island, located in the Bay of Fundy, is a picturesque destination known for its hiking trails, serene beaches, and camping opportunities. Accessible by boat from Saint Andrews, this island is home to the Roosevelt Campobello International Park where visitors can tour the 34-room summer cottage that was once a retreat for President Franklin D. Roosevelt and his family. The island also boasts a striking white and red lighthouse and offers sightseeing tours as well as whale watching excursions.
I absolutely love this place. So peaceful and the island people are so friendly!

It was amazing the sunsets were gorgeous and the weather was great! There were so many beaches to explore and they have playgrounds right next to them for your kids if they get bored! Roosevelt park was such a great experience and was so historic and fun! Over all it was a great experience for everyone!
Andi C — Google review
When you need beautiful scenery, history, and a bite to eat and don’t want to deal with the crowds of Acadia it’s time to come here. This is a great location to spend a relaxing day as you walk, hike, learn and eat. If you can make sure to book the free tea with Eleanor experience.
Michelle F — Google review
I hadn't been to Campobello Island since I was a kid and I am glad I went. I regret that I couldn't time my trip with the tides so I could walk out to the Head Harbor lighthouse but the views and photo ops were excellent. The Roosevelt complex is top notch as well.
Chris M — Google review
What a delightful gem! The end of island lighthouse - gorgeous! And the Roosevelt summer home, house for tea with Eleanor! Just a wonderful, well run, cared for place!

Very small and cute island. Think about food before come here. There are not too many options. When we went there, the weather wasn’t good and we couldn’t see anything and left the island But try the trails with cars and then walk. It’s good island door camping! And ask about the ferry before you go is they operating or not

Beautiful area to visit. Only there for the afternoon, didn't have a chance to see all of the island. Need to revisit another day.

A simply lovely place to visit. Beautiful sights, lots of trails, and plenty of activities for all. You can go whale watching, kayaking, camping, Etc. Enjoyed an early morning seeing the sunrise at head Harbor Light and even saw whales breaching off the coast. For bird lovers this is the place to be. There are lots of sea birds and warblers and birds of prey. And of course there's the Roosevelt Cottage, the Beloved island of Franklin and Eleanor Roosevelt. There is quite a bit to see an explorer at there home.

Nestled in a restored historic waterfront building, Water Street Tavern & Inn is the easternmost tavern in the nation. The casual and homey rooms offer beautiful views of the working waterfront, bay islands, eagles, and seals. The tavern's menu focuses on Downeast cuisine with a unique twist and changes daily. Additionally, the restaurant offers creative entrees and fine dining in a grand style with a seasonal menu featuring fresh ingredients prepared into culinary masterpieces.
The food, service and ambiance at Water Street Tavern must be experienced to truly appreciate & understand the accolades of my review. The Owners greet you as you enter and treat you as guests in their home. The bar is expertly tended by Larry, who sets the tone with a tasty cocktail and some local lore. The menu choices are superb and the chef and his staff will not disappoint. With that said, the four times @ Water Street Tavern I’ve ordered the Scallops, they’re delicious.

Absolutely beautiful spot to stop and eat. We sat outside and watched the water in hopes to see a seal. Right across is a light house in Canada! The food was delicious! I love the blackberry glaze on my duck! I do recommend calling ahead for a reservation, we got there at the perfect time and didn't end up needing one. We didn't stay and the inn so I'm unsure on how those were. Appetizer- blueberry puffins (I believe that what there were called) Husband meal- seared scallops, garlic roasted potatoes and french fries My meal- blackberry glazed duck, garlic roasted potatoes and honey balsamic glazed carrots

We love Lubec and the Tavern; we stay there whenever we’re in town and they have a vacancy. Restaurant is good but be certain to get a reservation. Tiny, beautiful downtown is walkable for most everyone and there are several stops for drinks and pics. Uncrowded gem you shouldn’t miss!

Absolutely outstanding experience at Water Street Tavern and Inn! From the moment I arrived, the staff made me feel completely welcome and at home. Huge thank you to Olivia, Kim, Kristen, Allison, Larry, Lucas, and the entire team — every one of them was kind, attentive, and made my visit truly special. I had my first-ever lobster here, and it was exquisite. So fresh — it had been caught that very morning! Perfectly prepared and full of flavor, it was a meal I’ll never forget. The setting is beautiful and relaxed, with a cozy and charming atmosphere that made my time here even more enjoyable. Whether you’re staying the night or just stopping in for a bite, I cannot recommend this place highly enough. Thank you again to everyone at Water Street Tavern and Inn — you made my experience unforgettable. I’ll definitely be back!
K L — Google review
We both stayed here and dined here. Make reservations to assure a spot for a memorable meal. We were lucky enough to snag a bar seat - which also can have reservations. We met some new friends and had lobster caught in the bay that morning - the biggest I have ever attempted to eat. Good food, cold drinks, and nice people. We stayed above the restaurant and the space exceeded my expectations. Everything was exactly as described but the added bonus for me was a shared community space that is like your home living /dining room and kitchen all in one. The location was great for us - on the water and close to downtown shops and Saturday farmers market. They are closed tomorrow so we are headed to public house in Macháis ME for dinner. We will come back for a good nights rest at the tavern!! You can’t go wrong with a visit to Lubec and water street tavern has everything you need!!
Anna B — Google review
We had a great dinning experience at the restaurant thanks to our waiter, Bill. He was friendly, professional and engaging. So much so that we had dinner there twice. Bill helped my wife choose the gigantic 2.5 lb lobster, which she thoroughly enjoyed.Higlights included the pear and goat cheese salad, and the fried Haddock. From the restaurant you can get a good view of the bay. Ambiance is lively and welcoming. A must visit when you are in Lubec 👍👍👍👍
Rodolfo A — Google review
I wish this could be a straight 5-star review, because the location is beautiful and the business is well kept and clean. We were there this past weekend for our wedding anniversary and were staying in a room of the inn. We left some food in the fridge and went out for the day to tour around and see the sights. When we returned, we found that our food had been cleaned out and presumably thrown away. I called the three available phone numbers to see if maybe they'd just been moved or something like that. Unfortunately all three numbers lead to voice mail, so I left a message asking to be called back. I never received a call back. Otherwise the staff of the restaurant was excellent, and as I said the location is perfect.
Joe C — Google review
Very disappointed in the amount of food you got for the price. 45.00 steak and my fish dinner was dry. I dont mind paying the price for a good meal but this was a bit much.. Specials weren't told to us. Yes they were on the board on the floor but didn't see them till we were waiting for our dinner. We were looking forward to a nice dinner. Not many options for eating out while we were on vacation.

The McCurdy Smokehouse Museum in Lubec, located on Water Street, delves into the town's deep connection with fishing and the economic significance of smoking and tinning fish. Housed in a weathered shingle-sided building on tall wood pilings over the water, it was once an industrial fish processing facility and is believed to be the last intact herring processing facility from the early twentieth century in Maine.
A wonderful woman told me the history of this place. Such a special gem to the town of Lubec.
Celeste Ö — Google review
The tour was a great introduction to a very important slice of Lubec history. Highly recommended!
Jack D — Google review
Highly recommend checking out this museum if you're in the area. The gentleman who is giving the tours currently worked here for six years, so he has first hand experience in how the smoking of the herring and sardines was done. Apparently this was the last operating smokehouse in the United States and it closed in the early 90s due to the FDA requiring them to remove the enterals of fish in the beginning of the process, rather than the end, which this was not set up to do. There was also a building that used to be across the river and it floated away during a high tide. Another building that was attached to the current museum was also lost a few years ago during a bad winter storm. They are currently trying to raise money to lift up the buildings several feet higher, as two of them flood as much as a foot of water during extreme high tides, so they are also at risk of collapse or floating away. Inside you'll find posters with information on how the mackerel were caught, strung onto rods for smoking, smoked (for two months!), then taken down for processing and packaging. There used to be smokers and canneries all over Maine, but this is a one of a kind now, despite being a booming industry for so long. Still smells like fish now, and it was 10x stronger back in the day. Imagine how it was in the 30s when there were multiple smokers and canneries running! Highly recommend checking out this cute little piece of history if you're in the area to learn a lot more about Maine's history, as well as support their effort in saving these buildings.
Ian P — Google review
I’m always up for a historical tour and the museum definitely did that. You’ll watch a short film about its history then you’re free to roam the building. The man who was there the day I went was very friendly and let me ask a gazillion questions. After that we chatted for quite a while about all kinds of stuff. I’d go back for sure if we were in Lubec again.
Stephanie W — Google review
McCurdy represents a part of Lubec’s maritime history. Lubec had a significant role in producing canned sardines. The Smokehouse was part of the process to smoke the fish. According to the tour, they used rods as part of the smoking process. In the day there was also a brining shed.
Perks A — Google review
Very nice small museum capturing the now gone herring smoking industry that once thrived in Lubec. Museum is located in the last of the facilities in Lubec (and the USA) and yes, it still has that distinct fishy smell! The gentleman on duty when we visited was so kind and informative. He walked us through the entire process and history, including its demise in the 1990s. Only $4 adult less a $1 discount if you have AAA. Well worth the time if you are stopping in Lubec or visiting Campobello Island.

Found this very interesting given an entire way of life had disappeared in this town. My tour guide was soooo cool, forget his name but he made the visit for me. I come from a fishing family and listening to him reminded me of my great uncles and their tales of the "old days".

"The Inn on the Wharf" is a charming bayside motel located in a former factory, offering picturesque water views and boat storage. The staff is known for being exceptionally friendly and helpful. The spacious rooms provide beautiful direct views over the water, with guests often too captivated by the scenery to miss having a TV in their rooms. Common areas are perfect for socializing while enjoying the stunning view, and there's a convenient common kitchen with morning coffee available.
I can't recommend this inn, enough. My husband and I have stayed there a few times the last few months while looking to purchase property in Lubec. And the rooms here are delightful and charming. Clean and the host, Nadia, is just lovely and so accommodating. Stay here if you get the chance. The view is STUNNING.

Really enjoyed our stay here. The views from our room were out of this world. Saw an eagle fly by outside our window one day. Room was quaint and clean. Staff were really friendly. Restaurant had really good food and the wait staff were very friendly and attentive. Took the Downeast Charter Boat Tours which is located beside the Inn. Captain was super friendly and knowledgeable. We saw a Minke whale, seals and bald eagles!

Upon arriving at the Inn, we were wonderfully surprised by the view and proximity to the water!! There is also a common dining and kitchen area for guests to share, along with a small selection of books. Truly wish we could have stayed longer!

I went often in years pastand maybe it's changed hands but definitely it's changed machines. The waitress brought a bill to our table, no breakdown of prices, she had put her own 20% tip in and there was no way to change the default. Maybe it's not even her fault and it defaults to 18-20%. I asked if I could put my own tip in and she got defensive. There was no way to change the tip to what I wanted. If I eat here again, I'll definitely pay cash!

Natasha went above and beyond for us! We called last minute (at night) and set us up in a wonderful apartment with 2 King Beds & 2 Full bathrooms! Included was a washer and dryer, which was a bonus! They even cooked us meals even though the restaurant had just closed. The bed was very comfortable! We couldn't have asked for more! Thank You!!
Susan B — Google review
Unexpected gem. We read reviews, and I think there's some confusion about the parts of the inn--there's a section that is closer to the restaurant, and then this section, more recently built, which are more independent rooms. Grab the latter! The view of this hotel is remarkable: We got up early to view th sunrise, and it was spectacular. And if there's fog (which, be clear--there probably will be), it's a moody and serene experience. The room itself is very stark, but it's all about the view. Disliked · If noise bothers you, be aware that creaking floorboards from above happens--pay for the upper unit. If sharing a deck bothers you, pay for the upper unit. You basically hear everything. The room is also a bit Spartan, but it's ok for us. The view makes up for it.

BED BUGS IN THE RUM RUNNER ROOM! Booked this place for our anniversary and, as we were settling in for bed, noticed bed bug nymphs crawling all over the pillows and from beneath the comforter. Immediately grabbed all of our belongings and called the front desk to report it. The owner arrived shortly thereafter with another staff member to inspect, confirming our suspicions. She indicated that she only bought the place last year, that the cottages are owned by a separate entity than the rest of the inn, and that this sort of thing happens since “people just bring these on their luggage.” She shared that she owns another operation in Missouri that has had an infestation and that the treatment is very difficult to take care of. She asked us what our plans were, and dumbfounded, we said we might end up staying in our car since finding accommodations on short notice this far out at 10pm would be challenging. She in turn asked us to keep her on call if we couldn’t find anything. Soon after calling around without success, we reached back out to ask if she could provide guidance on where to go. Unfortunately, we were not accommodated elsewhere as there did not appear to be any vacancy all the way through to Bangor and she did not offer us another place onsite. In the text chain that followed, the owner offered to strip the sheets/remake the bed and allow us to stay at a discount. We declined and indicated that we were expecting a full refund. Her response then consisted of implying that what all of us collectively confirmed to be bed bugs were not, in fact, bed bugs since the staff serving the building for years had never seen them there before, further adding that “insects are insects.” Rather than engage further, we cut our anniversary trip short and drove home four hours through the night. It should also be mentioned that the room had a faint malodor similar to raw sewage when we arrived that mostly dissipated after running the bathroom fan and that beneath the bed had not been cleaned or swept likely all season. I hope that this pattern of procurement of real estate assets in Downeast as just another investment in a portfolio by out-of-state interests does not continue down this path of neglect as it will irreparably harm the charm of places like Lubec. We were refunded in the end.

Mulholland Point Lighthouse is a charming beacon located near the border between the United States and Canada, offering picturesque views of Johnson Bay and the stately bridge that connects the two countries. Visitors can enjoy educational panels detailing its history while taking in stunning vistas of Lubec across the channel. The lighthouse also features a small Marine Museum for those interested in maritime history. While accessibility may be limited due to rocky terrain, it remains a worthwhile stop for its scenic beauty and historical significance.
I went in early September at dusk and there was no crowd. It was a foggy day, so the view was interesting. The only negative experience I had is there were quite a few mosquitoes and they do seem to love me, but that's nature and no reflection on the lighthouse itself! lots of beautiful rose hips from the rosebushes.

Great little lighthouse located a two minute drive into Canada from the United States. The area is well-maintained and there is a dirt parking lot. There is a porta potty on site, but it is not a handicap porta potty. Getting to the lighthouse was a quick 32nd walk from the parking lot. There is a little shed next-door. I would say like a mini museum great views of the bridge that crosses over into the United States and Maine. If you’re driving over to go to Campobello I would say take a quick detour. You’ll spend five minutes there and you will enjoy it.

Beautiful and easily accessible from parking lot. We had no wait for parking, but you may have to wait during high traffic times. Worth seeing if you are on a lighthouse viewing trip.

Nice lighthouse just across bridge from Lubec. We had a beautiful clear day and a great view. A variety of educational plaques around lighthouse. Well kept grounds. Worth a stop.

My family and I visited in 2nd week of August, 2025. First time ever going through customs. We went to see lighthouse and took some pictures and as we walked back down trail to get into our cars,a man named Dennis encouraged us to come back up and to see the small red building. Dennis was extremely knowledgeable about whales, and marine life. He took time to tell us alot of Dennis also interesting facts. He also recommended sites to see and places to eat. I just wanted to shout out to Dennis what a wonderful experience and how truly nice and welcoming he was. Thankyou.

The Lost Fisherman's Memorial in Lubec is a touching tribute to the courageous fishermen who lost their lives at sea while pursuing their livelihood. The memorial, located at Lost Fishermans Memorial Park, overlooks Cobscook Bay and features an elegant granite wave sculpture engraved with the names of 111 fishermen who perished since 1900. Set against the backdrop of Lubec Narrows and Mulholland Point Light in Canada, this serene spot offers a perfect place for reflection and remembrance.
Nice monument for the lost fishermen with a view of the lighthouse on the Canada side.

Well, it's a double-edged sword. It was small. Much smaller than my mother expected, but i'm glad it was that small.Because it lists the name of fishermen lost at sea. I myself some family listed on this and some very dear friends. It is a place to reflect the upon. The hard life that is lived by many people that live in the great state of Maine. And while you're there, we will notice that this is still a working fishing village. They know what they do each day to get by might be the last day but keep going to support their families, stay safe. Guys, hopefully, I pray this wall never gets any bigger.
Robert W — Google review
Such an incredibly well done memorial. Perfect spot with grand views of the Lubec Narrows and Mulholland Point Light in Canada. This memorial makes you stop and reflect and commemorate those brave fisherman. One must stop for a while at this very special place.
James P — Google review
A moving memorial to those who never made it home. Unfortunately, I did not take a picture of the memorial to add here. The location is great. We did stay for a bit and watch seals playing (fishing?) just off shore.
Daren B — Google review
An affront to fisherman. Put their names on the memorial. Fishing includes moving boats even by land. Building traps. Running and cutting ropes. All of these are in the name of fishing and wouldn't be happening otherwise. To not include on the claim "not fishing " is an asinie afront to even the folks on the memorial. Absolutely trashy move and we will never forgive not forget.
Zachary N — Google review
Beautiful setting for a lost fisherman’s memorial. Nicely done stone memorial with the names of those lost at sea. As the tide changes in the background you can understand the risks in these tidal waters. I wish there were a few benches to sit on while I reflected.
Perks A — Google review
It was very thoughtful that the locals built a memorial for the fisherman's lost at sea. it was a nice way to pay their respect for families who lost loved ones.

Roosevelt Cottage, originally built in 1897 and purchased by FDR's mother in 1909, is a historic summer residence with 34 rooms historically decorated to reflect the 1920s. The on-site interpretive hosts provide insightful information about the Roosevelts and their time there. Visitors can enjoy Eleanor's tea time with delicious tea and ginger cookies. The tour of the cottage is highly recommended, as well as exploring nearby hiking trails in International Park and Provincial Park.
My wife & I stumbled upon this cottage while on a quick day trip into Canada from Maine, and it was an unexpected surprise. The house and grounds are beautiful and well kept, and the staff was great. Being a bit of a U.S. president nerd, I really enjoyed the time here. I’d recommend anyone visit here!
Bill G — Google review
Loved this Cottage. My family and I had stumbled across this historic site by accident. I never knew that this cottage existed. You first start out by watching a 10 minute film at the gift shop. Then you walk down to the cottage and take a guided tour. The house was simply beautiful and had much character. Unfortunately I couldn't give the cottage a 5 star because our tour guide continued to throw "shots" and "low blows" at America and Americans. I felt like the guide talked more about America and how bad it was as opposed to the actual facts about the house. I felt nervous to ask any questions because I was afraid she may say something rude to me since I was American. The energy of the tour group gave nervous. I'd like to come back one day and give this house another try. Over all I would recommend you stop and tour the home because its so historical hopefully your guide gives more information than mine did.

This is the summer home of the Roosevelt's since the beginning of the 20th century. Franklin and his family visited even whilst he was President. The odd thing is that due to various historical events. Some predating the Revolutionary War, the island that is surrounded on three sides by the USA is actually Canadian. It is the world's only international park The Roosevelt's never put in electricity or telephones. It was quiet and pristine. Today the park has electricity and flush toilets. 😉 Friendly coffee shop

We loved visiting the Roosevelt cottage. The setting is gorgeous and easy to understand why the Roosevelts loved it so much. The history is fascinating. You will need your passport to enter into Canada from the US.

Lubec Memorial Library, established in 1952, is a small yet vibrant community hub that offers a variety of events such as concerts, book signings, movies, presentations, children's activities, and crafts. Despite operating on a limited budget with mostly volunteer staff, the library continues to grow and improve. Visitors praise the friendly and helpful librarians who go out of their way to make everyone feel welcome. The library also hosts engaging programs for both children and adults.
A really wonderful library with friendly staff, and a good selection of topics about Lubec and Maine. Comfortable seating area. Consider donating to keep them supported.

What a nice library to have in the Town of Lubec. It serves an important function in a relatively remote part of Maine. The building is well built and does not feel dated. You can browse books and there are some places to sit.

My family and I were vactioning in Lubec this past week and the Lubec Memorial Library added to our wonderful time there. The librarians were super helpful, friendly and welcoming. Even though we were only there for a week the librarian helped us get a library card so we could check out something to read and they invited us to participate in a Sea Creature program they were hosting. It was my daughters favorite part of the trip. Thank you to the librarians!

Library operates on a shoestring budget. Town government gives them very little money. Staff very helpful (all volunteers). Great 4th of July book sale. Wonderful programs especially for children. Support the library if you are visiting. A gem that can’t be neglected.

Lubec Landmarks is a treasure trove of cultural experiences in the charming town of Lubec. Visitors can explore the fascinating history of the McCurdy Smokehouse Museum, where guided tours take you through its unique skinning shed on Water Street. For those interested in local heritage, the Lubec Historical Society at 135 Main Street showcases intriguing exhibits that delve into the area's past.
I give credit to the Lubec Landmarks for maintaining an arts program in Town. Lubec Landmarks provides a venue to feature local artists typically in the paint or photography medium. They also have a reception on opening night which is a great way to meet the artist. I have appreciated the quality of the local art.

Lubec Narrows is a picturesque channel that separates Lubec from New Brunswick's Campobello Island. The area is home to the McCurdy Smokehouse Museum complex, which includes a 75-foot-long shed among its five buildings. Recently, after standing for over a century, the shed was swept into the narrows, adding an intriguing historical element to this lovely international border region.
