Visitor center
The Lewis and Clark Interpretive Trails and Visitor Center, located in Nebraska City, NE, is a dedicated museum showcasing the plant, animal, and scientific discoveries of the famous pioneers. The center features three floors with informative exhibits including an earth lodge, animal habitats, displays on Native American medicine, and interactive activities for kids. Visitors can also explore a trail system that leads to an Indian Earth lodge.
Do stop here! This Lewis and Clark venue is amazing! Full of interactive displays. A 30 minute full featured video of the Tour of Discovery Journey. And walking trails with a river lookout made our afternoon spent here a true joy! Don’t miss this place if you have 2 hours of time to spare. It’s truly worth the price of admission…
Kraig T — Google review
This a great experience to visit! It's definitely worth your time, even if you just walk around the grounds! This fort is still under construction, & looks great! I can't wait to return in September!
Richey- P — Google review
This was very clean and very well cared for. Bathrooms aren't large like a typical rest stop but they are clean and inside. The center closes at 6:00 and it's closed on Sundays, so after hours not something that won't be available restrooms. There is a well maintained and groomed outside area with a lot of outdoor seating. If you were traveling good looking for a spot to picnic it would be great. The interpreter center takes admission, but it has a lot of information and a lot of recreated parts of the Lewis and Clark expedition.
Josh — Google review
This is a very interesting and interactive museum with varied displays sure to please all age levels. My wife and I both enjoyed looking at the exhibits, watching the instructional film, and trying the hands-on activities.
Bryan A — Google review
A beautiful center and impressive building dedicated to educating about the Lewis and Clark expedition and local indigenous cultures. There's a replica of their keelboat that's fun to board, a native Mound Lodge, a fort and a number of nature trails that can keep you busy. It's in a convenient location on the Missouri River, definitely worth trip.
Cynthia A — Google review
We visited the Fort bring built. Amazing information. The Keelboat was shocking how small it actually was but so realistic to be in and feel the closeness of it.
Danelle M — Google review
It really was interesting seeing this site and reading about this part of history. The replica ship was cool, walking on it and just trying to get a feel for the history. Easy to find, plenty of parking, clean restrooms and the grounds are well maintained.
Laura S — Google review
Planned stop on our travels so my nephews could explore. They liked going from exhibit to exhibit to get their card punched. There were a lot of taxidermied animals. There was a lovely gift shop. The boat out front was neat. They had walking paths outside one of which led to a couple of wooden structures. They were all really neat.

Victorian Acres RV Park

RV park
If you're traveling along the Lewis and Clark trail and find yourself in Nebraska City, don't miss out on Victorian Acres RV Park. This award-winning park offers a serene and clean environment with spacious lots for your RV. The park is surrounded by budding trees, promising a beautiful full bloom experience. It features a large dog park with plenty of shade and water, making it perfect for furry companions to stretch their legs after a long drive.
We just needed a nice place to stay for the night. But this park is really nice! And the spot we had, #58 had only one side with a neighbor, which was empty, had some shade and was a pull through. One lady stopped while we were sitting outside and said next time she would make sure to get this spot. 😂 it was a super nice stop over. We even went to a wine tasting at the other end of town, at the Kimmel Orchards Vineyard.
Susan B — Google review
Beautiful, well maintained park. Nobody was there to check us in when we got there but it was a Sunday and also Mother’s Day. They did call us earlier to explain the location of our site, which was appreciated. Plenty of open space to walk our dog and lots of trash cans to dispose of waste (although not many actual pet waste cans). There is a lot of noise at night from the highway but that’s to be expected, just something to be aware of. Our only complaint is the WiFi - it didn’t work for us at all, which was a bummer. Otherwise a lovely stay and we’d definitely stay here again. WiFi - didn’t work AT&T Cell Signal - great
Jackie K — Google review
This is a very nice RV park and i would highly recommend it if you are traveling through this area. The grounds and bathrooms were very well maintained. No pool but a nice playground for the kiddies. If you have the time visit the Lewis and Clark Interpretive Center.
Spencer S — Google review
Very nice park with lots of nice trees and shade. Price was very reasonable and we enjoyed our stay. We stayed in site 58 and liked being in the south end of the row. We also faced south so the camper door was in the shade.

At Victorian Acres, you can't beat the beauty that is available every day in every season. From the rabbits, to the songstress robins and orioles, to the playful pollinating butterflies, the possibilities of enjoying a nature haven are endless. Especially when it comes to John and Cindy. They make our stay here that much more worth it because of their warm embrace. They are beyond gracious and kind. They welcomed my family and I months before even meeting in person. Always willing to lend a hand and meet our accomodations within reason. Given how helpful, generous and accepting they've been, I recommend Victorian Acres as your go to for your and your family's camping and R&R needs. With year round options, you can enjoy every season at Victorian Acres while in Nebraska City 🌻
Robyn W — Google review
If you like a dirty laundry room, long term camper with piles around the camper and rules forbidding the placement of any rugs or mats outside your door if it would be on their grass. The sites are narrow and any mat would be on the grass. No using electric heaters, no plugging into the outlet on the power pole unless you pay extra. There were no cleaning supplies in the laundry room or we would have cleaned it. We were able to clean to lint that was past the lint filters out. The beginning of the season, I would expect repaired and painted fences, a freshly painted laundry room and washer & dryer without dirt build up.
Lisa H — Google review
Very beautiful! Serene, real grass, clean and quiet. Wish we could have stayed longer than a day. We were traveling eastbound, coming from Salt Lake City so the real grass was enjoyable. We'll definitely return.
Margaret K — Google review
Upon arrival my sites power did not work. I had to call and tell them I had no power. I asked if I could move a spot over. They threw a fit as someone else payed ahead? Bathrooms smelt terrible, reserved a spot 2 weeks ahead as I was traveling 5 hours away. Both hosts were absolutely thee worst I’ve seen. Rude and just didn’t give a rats ass. I asked for a shaded area somewhat and got a 4 foot tall tree for shade. As I have a 50k dollar car I wanted out of the sun. The worst camphosts I’ve ever seen, or talked with. I packed up and left. I’ll never forget the attitude from both of them

The Keeping Room is a family-friendly restaurant in Nebraska City that offers fresh, seasonal, and regional cuisine made with the best local ingredients. The bistro-style dining experience provides a clear and welcoming atmosphere for guests to enjoy lunch, wine, craft beer, and homemade desserts. The restaurant is known for its excellent service and friendly staff, creating a homey ambiance. In addition to the delicious food, visitors can explore the beautiful boutique downstairs and upstairs.
The Keeping Room was Nebraska Passport stop number 59 for us in 2024. We heard all about the great desserts, but we were in need of some lunch, so we settled for some comfort food instead -- meatballs, mashed potatoes, and green beans. After our lunch, we toured the rest of the establishment, which seemed to go on forever. Many of the displays were extremely well done, and I especially enjoyed marveling at the seven (or eight?) foot tall baker's rack.

Awesome local eatery! Every thing was excellent. I would say its definitely above average! I had the chicken salad croissant which was excellent and my wife had the Cobb salad which had a tasty twist to it with sweet potato fries on top! We did not try the desserts but what we seen looked amazing. Workers were great! We travel through here about twice a year we will be stopping. It is hard to believe we have been traveling through here for 24 years and have never ate here!!!

Negative first. Came over for the apple jack festival the room was very loud and voices carried easily not because there was a good amount of people it was if they added some texture to reduce noise on the white wall and ceiling it would fix the problem. To check out and pay you have to weave between tables to wait in line . The cashier is right at the entrance witch is a nice double wide doorway so about 7ft wide but now 3ft of space is taken up by a cashier so you have people coming in while your trying to pay and fighting traffic just to get through the entrance. They can fix this by having the cashier to pay bill at the bar. The food was expensive for how much you got . Small portions for 17+ usd just for a meal. The Positive Man the food was delicious I had the biscuits and gravy the biscuits where great not to salty and a little flacky . They where soft and a little firm and buttery but definitely not tough. Then the gravy ooh man it was good nice flavor a hugh amount of meat and good color they didn't cook the rue too long , good seasoned meat and savory sauce to complement it. The Quiche Nice flacky buttery crust that was hearty enough to not get mushy with the eggs but not too tough either it was just right . The eggs where well seasoned and good fluffy texture and delicious flavor . There just wasn't enough Honestly first watch is cheaper and has as good flavor and first watch is kinda expensive.

Stopped here for lunch on our way home from a wedding and so glad we did. What a find! Cozy restaurant / boutique. Food gives meaning to the word “homemade” and is served on Polish Pottery. The desserts ? ………outstanding. Will definitely return.

Very comfortable environment. Lovely Polish pottery serving ware. Wonderful assortment of Polish pottery for purchase. Extremely gracious owner. Food very good. Nice cocktail and pie menu. Highly recommend.

We had so much fun exploring the fun boutique space after a fantastic breakfast. My partner raved about their homemade soup, and I loved the atmosphere. I wish I would have tried the pies; they looked incredible too.

I’m in town for a wedding at The Lied. A friend from Grand Island said that I had to visit and eat at the KR. She was right! What a lovely shop and great restaurant. The Apple, feta cheese, walnut salad 🥗 was perfect. The beautiful collection of painted dishware for sale and used for serving meals is wonderful. Fresh flowers on the homie wooden tables is very relaxing. Thank you!

Nature & Parks
Arbor Lodge State Historical Park, located in Nebraska City, was once the home of J. Sterling Morton, founder of Arbor Day. The park features a mansion, arboretum, and trails that offer an unmatched serenity. Visitors often make the drive from Lincoln to experience this peaceful haven and enjoy the beautiful surroundings all year round. The self-guided tour of the incredible home-turned museum takes about 30 minutes, and wandering the grounds allows visitors to appreciate the pretty trees on site.
Wonderful experience for the whole family and community. So much historical information in each room and memories to take with you.

Must visit. Somedays when I have time I drive all the way from Lincoln just to relax and experience this beautiful park. During the fall, it is quite possibly my favorite place in Nebraska....but don't worry, its beautiful all year round. If you're a tree fan, this is the holy grail of destinations. If you're on I-29, definitely make a quick detour here!

This incredible home-turned museum was once owned by the Morton family who not only started a salt empire, but also created the holiday of Arbor Day! It's stunningly beautiful. The self-guided tour takes about 30 minutes. Also make sure to spend some time wandering the grounds to see all the pretty trees.

Timbers is a stunning restaurant located at the Lied Lodge, featuring rich woodwork in its lobby and throughout the dining area. It has been recognized as Nebraska's most beautiful restaurant by Open Table app editors and People magazine. Guests have raved about the exceptional food and service, with particular praise for Rebecca who goes above and beyond to ensure a welcoming experience. Dishes are not only delicious but also beautifully presented, earning high praise from diners.
Best chicken sando I’ve ever had. The short rib Banh Mi was excellent as well. Best meal I’ve had there in years.
Perry K — Google review
We had a group of 11 and 4 ordered the chicken sandwich on the brunch menu. All 4 of the chicken sandwiches had burned chicken on them, I mean the chicken was black. Sent them all back and they did take them off the ticket but I expected a higher quality meal for the price. One of our party had French toast that was not done in the middle. Our waitress was wonderful but the food not so much. We will NOT return.
Debbie L — Google review
I searched the Timbers Restaurant, the menu looked amazing! BUT we went at lunchtime and the menu was nothing like the photos. Our meal consisted of a A burger swimming in sauce, salad in a tiny bowl (instead of plate so you could cut it up and actually eat it) and the finishing touch was a dessert that truly was nothing like I have ever seen or tasted-…horrible ( there were no choices for apple pie or crème brule) So disappointed -what a wonderful place and good service and an awful meal!
Jere' S — Google review
6 of us are at Timbers last night. Very disappointed in the food we had. I expect it to be expensive but I expect better quality of preparation. The two couples split the trout dinner. Everything was served in a sauce. Potatoes and carrots came in separate dishes swimming in their unique sauce. The trout was served in a sauce also. Flavors were generally good but the sauces were way over done. The two younger adult guests had steaks and they did not eat half of each one. We were very disappointed in the food. In past visits we always enjoyed the variety, quality, and preparation of the entrees. We will refrain from going back till we see the menu and food go back to less sauces so you can taste the food flavor itself rather than the sauce being the predominant flavor.
George G — Google review
The new chef in phenomenal, the menu is a breath of fresh air and we enjoyed every bite!! We frequent Timbers and have always loved the staff, atmosphere, and food but this was the best visit! Can not recommend Timbers and the new menu enough!
Hayley M — Google review
We just had dinner there tonight part of us enjoying the Apple Jack festival. We ate at timbers last year. Boy has it went downhill since last yrea. The kids had the kids meal hamburgers which all of them liked. My wife had the Halibut special which was a very small piece of fish for $30. I had the chicken that was not very big. and also tasted bad. The prices on the website are lower than when you get to Timbers. They do have a good ambience and our waitress was very nice. That cannot make up for the poor quality and quantity of the food. I almost could not eat my chicken it tasted horrible.
Jeff S — Google review
My husband and I were staying at the Lied Lodge during Apple Jack Festival. Sunday morning we had reservations at 9am at Timbers. We arrived about 5 minutes early and were seated right away. There were quite a few open tables still. Our waitress, Grace, was very sweet and attentive. My husband ordered the Apple Pancakes and I ordered the French Toast. We also ordered a side of breakfast potatoes. We really enjoyed our breakfast! We had been seated at a table by the windows and it would have been so lovely except that the fog was so intense. We couldn't see past a few feet from the window.
Alissa T — Google review
Its a nice restautant with a pretty view. Our server was great and very nice. Our food was absolutely terrible. And, we are not picky people at all. We felt bad, but we absolutely couldn't eat our meals. We've never experienced anything like it. We ordered Chicken Parmsean thinking that was a safe choice. What we received was not that. It was their crazy looking version of it in a disgusting gravy sauce. Apparently, they have a new menu. We were offered the option of picking something else or ordering from a smaller menu from the lounge. We were honestly too scared to try anything else. Thankfully, we only paid for our salads and weren't charged for the dinners. We ate at a place out in town that was very good.

Lied Lodge is an elegant retreat that offers contemporary rooms and suites with stunning views of the arboretum. Guests can enjoy the picturesque surroundings during early fall, with perfect weather for outdoor activities. The lodge also caters to business events with excellent breakfast, lunch, and dinner services.
Gorgeous gem in Nebraska City! The views and trails alone are just lovely. Not to mention the beautiful wooden interior, spacious lobby, cozy library lounge, a massive indoor pool, a sauna, and so much more. I had a wonderful experience here and I would absolutely love to visit again one day. Staff is attentive and the place is spotless inside and out.

Our room was top knotch. Clean, comfy bed, bathroom was spotless (which is a HUGE indicator to me on how the staff cleans). We didn't use many of the services but all staff was polite at all times. Location... 💥 Trails to Arbor Day Lodge and the grounds were fantastic. Need to come back in the fall. I will look for deals.
Danelle M — Google review
I didn’t mean to write such a lengthy review but here we are! My family and I spent two nights at Lied Lodge to explore all that Arbor Day Farm had to offer. The best part of staying here was all of the trails on the property and the gorgeous views especially with the changing colors of fall. The pool was also very nice, more than your average holiday inn pool. I don’t regret taking the trip because the daytime experiences and the property were worth some of the troubles we ran into, though they were quite notable. The first two things we noticed when we walked into our room upon checking in were 1. The rooms were pretty cramped with only one spot that had enough space for our pack n play and 2. There was dang near a fly infestation. I’m not exaggerating when I say my husband killed at least 15 flies upon our arrival with more still present. He then went on to kill probably 20-30 more flies in the rest of the time we stayed. They just kept coming out of nowhere. We received a text in the middle of the following day (so just before our 2nd of 2 nights there) asking how our stay was going. I was honest and to their credit they offered to change rooms but we were already settled and if there are flies in one room could there be much difference in another? We spotted an abundance of flies of multiple varieties throughout the property in general so I didn’t want to haul our stuff to another room and have the same problem. Our last major issue was overnight the second night. Our older daughter woke up and got sick in the second Queen bed. We stripped the bed and called for a new fitted sheet. The person bringing the linens didn’t even know what a fitted sheet was. He came to our door three times with completely incorrect linen items, each time talking louder and louder while our one year old was still asleep, and woke her up the final time he came. Overall I’m not sure that we would actually stay at Lied Lodge again. It was overpriced for what you received even with their weekday discount deal they were running. Not to mention several of the experiences at Tree Adventure were not even available during the week. The only place to eat breakfast and dinner with kids onsite was pretty expensive and not all that kid friendly. If I did it again we would make a day trip to do Tree Adventure and Arbor Lodge Mansion on the weekend so we could get the full experience, eat lunch at Porters, and head home for dinner and to sleep in our own beds.
Jasmine G — Google review
My Sister and I have been coming to the lodge for Independence Day for 10 years now. The Lodge is beautiful. The Rooms are always clean and the Staff always helpful and polite. But this year was a little bit off. The little things that use be offered where no longer in the rooms. The menu and food at the Timbers was changed drastically. Gone was the Pancakes and kids menu. Replaced with some New York menu that some how ruined chicken and waffles. We will be back next year, but I don't think We will be getting the Bed and Breakfast package.
Cyn P — Google review
I'll try and give a balanced review. First off, our waitress, Madison, at the Library Lounge was exceptional! She was professional, yet friendly. The food was mostly great. The pool and hot tub were also magnificent. Now for the bad: my wife and I were there to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary, so we wanted a special experience. When we booked the stay dates, my wife also booked for us each a massage at their spa. We showed up at 10 am on 9/22 for our massage sessions, only to find out from the spa attendant that no appointment had been made. So apparently, whomever my wife spoke to at the front desk never bothered to record our appointments in their system. It was our 25th Anniversary! The spa attendant, nor the front desk staff, offered to squeeze us in at the end of the day or to fit us in for massage appointments on an alternative date while we were there. Disappointing! The cleaning crew never changed our sheets, nor emptied our trash. We had to contact the front desk twice to get the room phone fixed or replaced. We figured the room phone would be the easiest way to call and order room service, that's why we wanted the phone fixed. Just ridiculous.
Paul I — Google review
We reserved two rooms and planned to meet dear friends for a visit. Our friend is battling cancer and has been given a couple more months, so this trip was especially meaningful. The afternoon that we were meeting, the Lied Lodge called to tell us they were canceling our reservation because they had “guests who wanted to extend their stay.” They said they had rooms for us at the Holiday Inn Express. WHAT? They were completely serious! So we drove several hours to see our friends, because of course we did. But we stayed in the dumpiest HIE we have ever stayed at. The staff was nice, but the room was not. It was musty smelling with mold on the ceiling and a stain on the sheets. Unbelievably horrible service from Lied Lodge. They were very dismissive of our situation with an “oh well” attitude. They gave us vouchers for a future stay. Well our friend will not be here to use a voucher in the future!!! And you better believe we are not about to plan a trip knowing how we can expect to be treated by the management of the Lied Lodge.

Complimentary coffee was good. We visited the tree houses; that was great, very fun to kids. The timbers was not what we were expecting, although food tasted great, smaller plate style meals. We booked online requesting play pin for infant. We didn’t get one at first. We called and they said they’d bring it. Four hours later, never delivered to room. Tried calling five more times without getting through. By bedtime my husband went to get one at the front desk. They had house keeping bring it after another half hour. There was some serratia marcesens in the shower also known as pink mold. Bed and stuff slept fine. We checked out porters and I watched 12+ different groups use exit doors to patio, and when I was going to use them they cashier told me to walk around and couldn’t use them. Sat at the patio and processed to watch others use them? I had my hands full of food, and my children waiting on me. Just felt weird… checked out was fine. Grounds were pretty. Not too bad, Just some discrepancies.

The property is well maintained. The rooms are clean and quiet with comfortable beds. I gave service 2 star due to an experience. On the day of departure, my husband left his insulin in the room refrigerator. It wasn't until evening (6:30 pm)and he needed an injection that we realized it was left behind. I called the lodge and after checking with housekeeping, they said the cleaner did find it but never reported it. I asked if it could be shipped next day and was told that for $69, they could ship it next day. I paid the shipping but by 5:30 pm the next day, it hadn't arrived! I call the Lodge and asked if they could check the tracking. I was put on hold. Then, I was told the the UPS person never did a package pick up that day. No one thought to call me! Supposedly, I was credited the shipping. Then, today 5 days later, the insulin arrived at the B&B. By now without refrigeration, it was trash. We had planned as past of our visit to take a wagon ride through the orchard and vineyard. However, the website doesn't tell you that on AppleJack Days it is not available. My husband has Parkinson's Disease and this was how we'd planned for him to visit the property.

This charming eatery has quickly become a favorite among locals and visitors alike, thanks to its inviting atmosphere and mouthwatering dishes. After indulging in various offerings like rice noodles with teriyaki beef, egg noodles with chicken and seafood, and flavorful curry with beef, it's clear that each plate is crafted with care.
Delicious food, comfortable seats, and fantastic portion sizes. I entered skeptical, as it was quite empty, but left with a full stomach and a smile on my face. As well, Tommy came out and greeted us 1/2 way through our meal. He was kind, took genuine feedback, and made the experience so much better. This place is a must-stop for anyone looking for a good meal with fantastic flavors.

Tonight is second time (in two weeks) that we’ve eaten here. I am so glad we finally discovered this place. It is so good! It is a nice atmosphere, and the food is delicious! We have tried the rice noodles with teriyaki beef, the egg noodles with beef and chicken, and the curry with beef. My family had the rice noodle soup with chicken and egg noodles with sea food. Tommy is great about suggesting and explaining the dishes and sauces. Tommy also makes everyone feel like family, and his wife is very sweet! Will be back again! Portions are large! Everyone except my dad ended up with leftovers to take home! Deeeeeelish!

The food was delicious and the portions were huge! The staff were very friendly and the chef even came out and chatted with us for a minute and gave us his recommendations. The soup was #14 and the stir fry type dish was #11 on the menu. Dont know how to pronounce them but they are hands down some of the best food weve had in Nebraska! Highly recommend and we will definitely be coming back!

We had just completed a 36-mile bike ride with a strong headwind and were ready for some healthy eats. But where to go near Nebraska City? Well, I'll tell you. Tommy Angel Restaurant! Curiosity got the best of me when I saw a 5-star rating for a Vietnamese restaurant in Nebraska City with over 80 reviewers. I thought to myself: they must have a lot of friends. Nope, the food was fantastic! Very deserving of the 5-stars. The service was prompt and friendly. The food was flavor packed and seemed to be made with love.

Tommy was so kind and the food was delicious! We’ll be coming back every time we’re in town! The restaurant is so cute and plenty of comfy seating. Definitely recommend!

Great food and wonderful host! Tommy is a charmer. We had way too much food, but the leftovers are wonderful.

Came here on a whim to try something different…. We made the right decision. The food was great, huge portions. We shared the off menu roast pork teriyaki with mixed veggies and did noodles instead of rice. Flavors were wonderful. Tommy was extremely attentive and hospitable. We will be back!

The chef here does such a great job. Absolutely Delicious! Always hot and fresh and tasty. Definitely a favorite!

Sandwich shop
Subway is a popular casual dining chain that specializes in customizable sandwiches and salads, catering to health-conscious diners. Despite facing challenges like rising ingredient costs and economic pressures, Subway continues to thrive as a staple of American dining culture. Each location offers a unique experience, with fresh ingredients prepared right before your eyes. For instance, the Nebraska City Subway at 2509 S 11th St not only serves classic favorites but also introduces bold new flavors that keep customers coming back for more.
Get experience, food was fresh and made in front of you. Employees were nice and friendly. 8/10.

Traveling across country, walked into this Subway that is connected to a connivence store and gas station. I got a big welcome from a long bushy haired man with bushy beard, who told me that animals were not allowed. I said she is a service dog, and he said, doesn’t matter, it’s against the law to health codes to have a dog inside. I told him it was against the law refusing service and he just lost a sale. Where has health codes when he wore no hair net or beard net.?? I was only going to order a sandwich to go. He lost a sale and hope that he continues to do so. I would have given a zero star but it’s not possible. His ignorance for the law needs attention. When I travel my dog goes with me, she is trained to follow me, therefore, she goes with me everywhere. Next step is to file a complaint with SubWay corporate.

We ordered the teriyaki sub for my wife, a cold cut combo for me and potato soup for our daughter. The teriyaki sub bread was so hard only the meat was edible. We showed it to the worker, she just said it's toasted and that's how it is, my daughter's potato soup was not soup, just a pile of dried mashed potatoes. My sub was ok. I wish I could post pictures. Not going back.

We had to stop for our Tesla ChargePoint and luckily found this place just behind our charging point. This place is clean, very well maintained. The food is just like any other subway stores, they have sriracha. My personal favourite sauce it is. Also the restrooms are very clean. It is a good stop for anyone for quick food .
PerksOf B — Google review
This was the worst subway experience I have ever had. I asked about an online coupon if I was able to use before placing my order and was told not a problem. Once ordering 2 foot longs then the guy working with tattoos and gauges said that is online only and he can’t apply any discount, was very short rude and did not try to have any resolution but “it’s only through the app I can’t help you” that’s 30$. For 2 messy, bland and un toasted (even though requested toasted) the cheese was not even melted. To top off the experience with horrible customer service. My husband only took 3 bites of his foot long and was disappointed. This is a prime example of a decent company having the wrong attitude in place to shine a negative light on this situation. I own multiple business myself and to see someone not willing to help or offer a solution for a better outcome after saying this was the only reason I drive 30 miles out of the way to eat with and traveling through to be able to feed my husband and I for 12 $ vs 30 with the coupon was a slap in the face Very dissatisfying experience.
Racheal M — Google review
Been in here a few times. Good subway, but the workers suck. Dropped in not too long ago just for a cone and a malt after doing some fishing, and it took them FOREVER. The guy doing it (Romeo) was working soooo slow. It took between 10-15 minutes just for the malt. Ugh. Not friendly staff, and the two girls who were on shift just disappeared in the back instead of offering to help us check out or help their coworker finish. If ya want ice cream in town, find somewhere else. 😶

Italian restaurant
Calabria Italian Restaurant is a charming eatery located in an old building with original floors and windows, giving it a unique and cozy atmosphere. The attentive staff ensures that your dining experience is pleasant without pushing unnecessary add-ons. The menu offers generous portions of delicious food, including tempting specials. Situated in a restored train depot, the restaurant can be found on Google maps but may require some effort to locate due to its off-the-beaten-path location.
This was actually our second time going. The first time was shortly after it opened so interesting to see how it compared. The decor is neat - it's in an old building and they've made effort to keep that feeling with original floors and windows and such. Bathrooms off the entryway are single occupancy unisex. The waitress was attentive- our drink glasses were never empty- and didn't try to upsell us anything. The food was good and in large portions. Neither I nor my friend could eat all of ours. There's a bar, though we didn't try it. Maybe next time. I'd also like to try the dessert someday, lol!

Coke products great!! Great ambiance. Very nice waitress. Bruschetta was missing basalmic glaze..I would recommend they reexamine that recipe. Lasagna and seafood pasta were good. The small rolls brought to the table before our meal were very hard.

The shrimp scampi pizza, garlic cheese bread & tiramisu was absolutely amazing!! They gave us plates, forks & napkins with our order! Very cool! Will definitely be returning & recommending!!

Gorgeous little restaurant built at an old train depot that has been restored just for a restaurant. So many good things on the menu for you to try any time and then they have specials that are only the for a short time. I would have loved to try their dessert but did not save room for it and so I will have to try it next time. It's off the beaten path so you have to know how to get there but it's on Google maps. Parking is small but you can find a place of you look. THE BEST ITALIAN FOOD I HAVE EVER HAD. Thank you Abby and the rest of the staff.

Calabria is a great new family oriented restaurant that is also owned by 5 members of the same family! It just opened up on February 25th. When we got there for supper this evening (Mother’s Day) it was packed, but we were seated within 15 minutes. Being that this was their first big holiday serving the public, I can say at first stepping in, they were very much in control. That then carried over to the table except for one or two little kinks. The lasagna that I had was excellent and the portioning was equal to the price. The spaghetti and meatballs my husband had were more than enough for him. The final touch was the dessert. The Tairmisu was more than excellent. It was divine! We even took some calzones home with us for another day. Thank you to Abby and Madison for such an excellent time.

Hidden along the tracks in the old Nebraska City train depot is a gem. Filled with history and fine food, Calabria engages all the senses. If I lived closer, I would definitely be a regular, but at least now there's a get-a-way to take my wife on a date that we can both agree on.

Great find as we were traveling through the area. Situated in an old train station, the atmosphere and decor are very nice. Highly recommend the Olive oil, Garlic and Basil and Bread appetizer. Our food came fresh hot and delicious.
Jeremy C — Google review
This charming Italian restaurant is located in the old train depot. Because of that, the area of town may seem a little sketchy, but it is really worth the trip. The portions were ample and delicious. My husband and I shared chicken Marsala with artichokes and mushrooms on linguini. The sauce was perfectly made, and paired well with the linguini. The Bella Será salad contained a variety of lettuces, cheese, olives, and mushrooms. The house dressing is a gentle balsamic. The best part of the meal was hot, homemade rolled rolls, brought to your table as often as you like. The server was incredibly helpful and attentive, despite the restaurant being full. Note: the photos show my HALF of the meal! Also, you may request any pasta with your meal, not just the one listed on the menu.

Day 2

Northwest side of town
For day 2, we recommend exploring the northwest side side of town. Start the day off with Tree Adventure, then wind down and take it easy by the time you get to Kimmel Orchard & Vineyard. All together, your day would be filled with about 7 hours of non-stop fun.

Arbor Day Farm Tree Adventure is a nature-themed attraction that offers a variety of activities for visitors of all ages. The Treetop Village, WonderNet, and sunflower field are just some of the highlights. Visitors can enjoy outdoor games, oversized see-saws, zip lines, slides, climbing ropes, walking paths, tree houses connected by suspension bridges, and even a suspended trampoline. Additionally, there are options for dining at Timber's and accommodations at Lied Lodge.
Great place for a trip with kids! Lots of physical and mental exercise. 4-12 year olds best, but fun for all ages with a bit of walking. Go early on a nice day. Lots of shade for hot days.

This place is amazing; lots of fun for families! I only was here for a short visit, but if I had more time to spend, I'd bring the younger crowd. Lots of things to do and fun activities for kids and the adults.
Mary C — Google review
Wow!! I did not expect to have as much fun as I did here. I think I had just as much fun as the kids did. THIS PLACE IS A MUST SEE! Great for families who love to get out and play. Gotta check out Tree Top Village! It feels straight out of a storybook. We didn't allow ourselves enough time to do everything we wanted to do so I suggest that you get there early to see as much as possible. We only got to see inside the tree adventure area but we will be back for more. Although I didn't get to see everything I wanted, I still got to see a decent amount. This place is obviously well funded because there is so much attention to detail throughout the property. Everything from the layout, design, decor and even the fun is easy, natural and tastefully done. My only criticism is of the bathrooms as detailed below 👇 The grounds- well maintained, bountiful activities for kids of all age groups, plenty of trash cans (and benches) sprinkled throughout. Silly gnomes are hidden around to be found. Musical instruments in the play areas. Beautiful wood carvings can also be found in a variety of places along the trails and hidden amongst the bushes. I appreciate the time taken to place these art pieces all over for everyone to enjoy. Easy to push a stroller around most areas (wheelchair accessible). There is a trail map to help guide guests to desired areas but probably not needed for most people as it is a fairly simple layout. The parking lot is nice also, no issues there. This place boasts a restaurant onsite as well that I must check out next time. The bathrooms- I only visited one of them but there are two in the tree adventure area. They weren't the cleanest when I used them at closing time. Not particularly gross, just doesn't feel clean inside. Kinda like a gas station bathroom (dark and gloomy with dirty toilets). It's in desperate need of a renovation in my opinion. Maybe I'm being overly critical but it feels like a missed opportunity with all the beautiful buildings and attention to detail. I guess I just expected them to be prettier. They did have those built-in step stools for the kids to wash their hands though and that was a nice touch. The staff- There was a lovely woman working the counter who was very calm and polite. She explained everything to us we needed to know and even took the time to walk us out into the play area. It was a small gesture of kindness that was well received. She just made us feel welcomed... like a grandma who cheerfully invites you into her home. Sadly I didn't catch her name. The gift shop- Cute yet sophisticated decor that has typical gift shop items. Things like clothing, cups, books, stuffed animals, candy, etc. They also sell their own cider made onsite. The Hotel?! - Yeah that's right, they even have a hotel practically across the street for those wishing to make a weekend out of it. Sadly I didn't see it in person, but it's nice to know there is one. Overall we're super satisfied with our visit. We all had fun and can't wait to go back. Well done 👍

We love the Tree Adventure! My 7yr old son had his birthday there. The staff did an amazing job making sure his day was special! Their party decorations were adorable and everyone was very helpful and friendly. The kids played for 2hrs just at the tree house part and would have stayed longer. If you are thinking of hosting a birthday party there, we highly recommend it!

My husband & I respectively 75 & 77 years of age wanted to go in the treehouse path at Arbor Day Farms. We were told that we had to buy tickets even though we wouldn't be actively taking part in using them. I felt that senior citizens just walking through should not need to purchase a wrist band. What made the trip even more frustrating was the fact that during AppleJack Days, the ride through the apple orchard and vineyards is not available though it is not stated on their website.

Had lunch/dinner here yesterday. The wings were HUGE and tasty! Family owned and operated. Very cool, friendly, personable people. Excellent service. The building is an awesome old train station. Arbor Day Farm, situated in Nebraska City, Nebraska, is a historic orchard founded by J. Sterling Morton, the creator of Arbor Day. The family-owned farm has been producing top-quality fruits and vegetables for over a century while upholding sustainable agricultural practices.
Arbor Day Farm is a fantastic destination for a family-friendly outdoor adventure! We had an amazing time exploring everything it has to offer. One of the highlights was picking fresh apples—such a fun and delicious activity for all ages. The rope bridges and treehouses were a big hit with our group, offering a unique perspective of the surrounding nature and a bit of adventure. We also loved the interactive musical instruments, which added a creative and playful touch to our visit. The entire experience was filled with outdoor fun, and it’s clear that Arbor Day Farm is thoughtfully designed to connect families with nature. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a memorable day outdoors!

Had a great day at the farm. The lied Lodge is very nice. The have a barn that is used for weddings. The Morton house is beautiful. Full of history. They also have a nice little food shop next to the wine bar and the was pretty good. I give it a B+. There are Apple orchards also.

Our primary motive in visiting Arbor Day Farm was the Discovery Ride. Sadly, when we arrived to buy tickets, the cashier said it wasn't running except on weekends. That would have been good information to share on their website! But no; I checked again and there was no mention when the Ride was not available. Good thing this was not our only planned stop in Nebraska City. I did enjoy walking Doug's Trail -- an easy walk along a peaceful, mostly shaded route. The Historic Barns were cool. Overall, the site seemed to be clean and well-maintained.

Took a lovely albeit hot day trip to Arbor Day Farm on Tuesday with the first stop being the Apple House Market. 2 wine flights and a hard cider flight were treat at $10 each plus a free glass with the wine flights. Tried the peach, cherry, honeycrisp, apple pie, rose and edelweiss and all were delicious, although the sweet and light peach was the winner on a hot day. Spiced apple, cherry, sangria and joy harvest ciders were wonderful also. Spiced apple was our favorite of those. Bonus, you can get your drinks/bottle of wine/growler of hard cider and take with while you explore the whole farm including the tree adventure. Grabbed a bite from Porters BBQ and I have to say it was some of the best around. Pulled pork sandwich came with choice of chips and we added on the mac n cheese and baked beans. The pork was smoked just right and came on a delightful buttery bun that really pulled the sandwich together. 3 sauce choices, original, Carolina and a spicy. The original was good but the spicy was top pick. Just enough heat without killing the taste buds. Mac n cheese was seasoned well and cheesy with a good cheese pull on that first fork full. The baked beans stole the show for us. A smoky chili heavy sauce that was soupier than most places with beans and plenty of huge burnt ends to fill you up. A big bowl of those with cheese and diced onions in the fall could rival most bowls of chili anywhere else. My partner liked them better than Q39's beans if that means anything. Finished the trip with a visit to the Tree Adventure $14 for adults, $12 for kids 3 -12. Kids and adults alike can have plenty of fun exploring the grounds with things to climb on, slide down and be creative. The tree house village was a blast! Although I suggest you keep your hands free cause some of those walkways between the houses are no joke! We had the wondernet in the center to ourselves and bounced and laid back to enjoy the view. There is a section that is wheelchair accessible also. Only about an hour away from most of the metro and a wonderful get away from the hustle bustle.

The Tree Adventure walk was pretty cool, definitely geared toward kids, it was still interesting for my friend and I. Their apple cider they sell inside was delicious! I’d love to come back in the fall and get it fresh. We also toured the mansion on the hill which was interesting.

This was so much fun! We are just in town for a short visit and it was worth it just to stop at this farm. The trails are neat and well kept, tons of shade so even though it was upset 90's when we visited we still had plenty of reprievefrom the sun. My kiddos ages 3 & 5 loved trying to guess what animal left the tracks in the cement path, as well as all the wonderful fun play equipment along the way. The loved the little zipline, giant spider web, and of course the giant tree house and all of its rope bridges. Definitely stop here if you're passing through!

Hidden Falls Cabins & RV Park offers a convenient location close to area parks and local businesses, making it an ideal spot for couples and individuals. The cabins are well-maintained, fully stocked, and provide the privacy of a single-family home with the amenities of a nice hotel room. The campground boasts meticulous landscaping with a variety of trees, lush grass, and a pleasant waterfall. Additionally, there are great pavilions for gatherings or cookouts.
This was a nice RV park. All campers were well taken care of, check in was easy, just grabbed our packet from the red box and went to our site. It was Huge! Super easy back in site across from the well cared for bathrooms. Very clearly want you to take care of your dogs if you have them, signs where they can and cannot be. All the hookups were are the back of the site, nice level concrete pads to park on. Never talked to a person who worked there, reserved a spot online a few hours before we arrived and left without needing anything else. Only downside was the train horn at 7 in the morning, it sounded like it was right outside our window, not just once but several times in a row. Still glad we stayed here, $45/night, good T-Mobile cell service, close to town for groceries and huge sites.

Amazing RV park. Sites are very spacious with concrete pads and full hook-ups. The park itself is VERY clean and well maintained. The time I spent here was very quiet. A train passes by up on the hill in the back part of the park now and then, but the trains are not intrusive at all. "B," the lady who took my reservation and checked me in was fantastic. Very helpful, had a great sense of humor and made me feel very welcome. I would highly recommend this park, and would stay again if/when I return to this area.

We came across this rv park when my husband was traveling here for work. I can NOT stress enough how much we loved this place! I have children and it was SO safe, kids playing with other kids all day. It was always so clean, the outside, the shower houses, laundry house etc. They REALLY care about their establishment and do everything to accommodate their customers. Sadly we had to abruptly leave due to a family emergency, but are planning another trip here during the summer! Thank you for everything!
Kayla B — Google review
Overpriced, Noisy, and Not Dog-Friendly – Stay Anywhere Else! This campground is an absolute rip-off for monthly guest who are only traveling for work. They charge $60 more per month than nearby campgrounds but offer nothing in return. The laundry facilities are extremely overpriced, and despite the high price, this place is not dog-friendly at all. There’s no dog park, and right in the center of the campground is a huge area marked “No Dogs Allowed”, making it feel like dogs are more of a nuisance here than welcome guests. The RV spots are crammed together, offering zero privacy. If it rains, expect to be stuck in a swamp, as the campsites flood easily. The sewer and electric hookups are placed terribly, requiring 15-30 feet of sewer hose just to reach the connection. Also, in the winter, the campground wraps the water spigot to prevent freezing—then plugs it into YOUR outlet, meaning you’re paying for their maintenance costs. Sleep? Forget about it. The entire campground is surrounded by train tracks, so you’re constantly woken up by passing trains. If that wasn’t bad enough, a company right across from the campground starts working at 4 AM, with workers yelling and running loud equipment, ruining whatever little rest you can manage. Not to mention, their equipment is scattered everywhere, making for a complete eyesore. On top of all that, expect to be overcharged for electricity, with bills exceeding $300+ every month. For a fraction of the price, you can stay just up the street at a campground that actually offers amenities like a store, cheaper laundry, properly placed hookups, and—best of all—NO trains, no 4 AM wake-up calls, and a more dog-friendly environment. Don’t waste your money here. We will never return.

Great RV park clean, big sites, clearly maintained. Great price. We didn’t use any facilities. Looks to be a newer park lots of young trees, convenient location close to everything we wanted to visit! There were trains; but easy enough to fall back asleep! I would stay again 😁

This place and people were FANTASTIC! We had a terrible day going from bad to worse. We found these wonderful people after google had sent us to 10 RV places around Omaha!😡 It was 90 degrees humid, late in the afternoon… and we had a blowout on the RV. These people went beyond kind and thoughtful. They were preparing for a large celebration the next day. They took time to help us. We were able to rent the very last spot. The park is gorgeous! Level spots. Ease to park and hook up. Perfect!!! We can’t recommend this beautiful place and people high enough!!

If you ever find yourself in Nebraska City this is the place to stay. Check in was great, bathhouse always clean and well maintained. This is a very well manicured park. We needed to stay longer than we had planned, due to our Aggies making it to the finals of the College World Series, and they were very accommodating. We had to change sites but there were no issues and all went smoothly. We will definitely stay here again.

A nice place off the main drag. Not your typical road place. We weren't expecting counter ordering based on the outside, but the menu of burgers and sandwiches is extensive. Both of our selections were delicious, hot, and delivered to our table quickly. A very nice change from the typical roadside place.

If you’re in the mood for juicy, flavorful burgers this is the place to go! Great, clean environment with a casual dinning experience. Unique menu items with a lot of flavor. I try something new every time because they always have something fun and fresh on the menu!

Kimmel Orchard & Vineyard Educational Foundation, located in Nebraska City, has been a beloved family-owned orchard since 1925. It offers a unique experience that combines traditional farming methods with modern technology. The orchard provides an opportunity for visitors to pick apples, strawberries, cherries, and peaches during their respective seasons. In addition to fresh produce, the orchard features apple donuts and cider in the fall and hosts wine tastings.
“A Fun and Delicious Destination!” Kimmel Orchard & Vineyard is a delightful place for family fun and local flavors. The atmosphere is playful, as you can tell from the whimsical apple-themed photo spots, which are great for making memories. The orchard offers an excellent variety of fresh produce, especially apples, and their homemade cider is a must-try! The vineyard adds a lovely local touch, and the combination of nature, fun activities, and delicious products makes it a perfect spot for a day trip. Whether you’re there for picking fruit or just relaxing, it’s an experience full of charm. Highly recommend!

We found this orchard through Harvest Host and we are very happy we visited. The staff were great as was the store. We really enjoyed their wine tasting and shopping in the store. They had a large variety of items to purchase. The grounds were amazing and educational. If in the area, we would definitely visit again.

Apple jack festival 2025! Rainy start (even the bumblebee had his morning shower) turned out to be a great Apple picking day!

Excellent place for a family outing. Everything was simple to figure out, everyone was kind, friendly and helpful. Great place for little kids with the Hay rack ride, the playground and the store. The apples were perfect and all the offerings at the store were interesting. 10/10 am already planning our next trip
Kalkena C — Google review
It is a nice, quiet location. We stayed in our van at the location as part of the Harvest Hosts program. There was only one other RV at the site during out stay. There was plenty of room for even a couple more. We parked in the gravel parking strip on the east side of the property. It was fairly level for our van, but it took a couple of tries to find the perfect spot. This location would likely be ideal for families with kids with the nearby playground facilities. Nebraska City is a real treat. We wish we would have stayed another night. The nearby Arbor Lodge was amazing--great food, amazing location, walking trails, farm, etc.
Duke T — Google review
This place is a really fun place to go. The ambiance is that of an early 1900s farmhouse feel. The staff are knowledgeable on their products and are friendly people. They sell a wide variety of products: apples, jams, pies, ciders, their own wines, honey, short order foods, and other baked goods. The prices are reasonable as well, which is a good thing. They also support the military and give the military a discount. They have an educational center which hosts various classes from honey production to apple growing and everything in between. Kimmel Orchards also has a child play area and different outdoor activities year-round. Check with scheduling for these activities.
Rob C — Google review
We stayed here as harvest host guests for one night. Although we got in super late we slept well. Our kids loved the play area and the food in the store to purchase is a large selection. We bought apple cider, carmel apple cookies, apple donuts, apple rum butter, apple butter, and a 5lb bag of apples. Sad that the u-pick is only open on the weekends and the educational center was not as hands on as I would have hoped. We still enjoyed our time and next time we'll have to come back on a weekend.

Restaurant
"The Downtowner" is a bustling restaurant that opened its doors in 2019. The food is not only delicious but also presented beautifully and reasonably priced. The staff are friendly, knowledgeable, and provide excellent service. However, there have been some instances of unexpected charges for substitutions on the menu items. Despite this, the overall dining experience has been positive for many customers who appreciate the attentive service and tasty food.
A group of us came here with 4 kids and ate outside, very child friendly area as there is a fence to keep them from running into the street and yet allow them room to roam while we ate and talked. I tried the Philly cheesesteak and it was one of the best I have ever had! The waitress was super helpful and friendly even with our large group and did an amazing job. I would definitely come here again!
Twila D — Google review
It was an hour from the time we sat down to getting our food. It was busy but not obnoxiously busy. Some of the staff were helpful and seemed to enjoy their jobs, but too many others had poor attitudes and made us feel like we were a bother. Food was good and the atmosphere was nice.
K H — Google review
We had breakfast items and lunch items from the menu. I can't say enough good things about this locally owned downtown cafe. It has everything you would want from an all day diner. The pancakes were light, fluffy & delicious, so much so, our grandson ate his without syrup! The bacon was cooked to perfection, it was a thick cut, but had just enough marbling that when cooked well, it was not too lean or too fatty. Each bite was a chewy, crispy and perfectly delightful mouthful. The French fries were hand cut (I believe) and we're crunchy on the outside with a delicate potato on the inside. They were not overly salted or greasy on the plate as so many fries are. My Grilled chicken breast club sandwich was piled high with more of their perfectly cooked Delicious BACON, plus gooey melted Swiss cheese, lettuce+tomato+(pickle on the side) on a lightly grilled brioche bun. Everything on the menu was priced moderately and portions were quite generous! The kitchen & restrooms were very clean and the customer service was exemplary. The Downtowner Cafe gets our family's 5 Star rating and in today's dining experience that's quite rare. Highly Recommended on your next visit or passing through Nebraska City.

Love this place! The bartender, Nina, at the Library Bar at the Lied Lodge suggested it. The breakfast with Gyros meat, hash browns, eggs (your way) and Tzatziki sauce is So Amazing!!! Can get a skillet that adds tomatoes and onions. Had the skillet and the combo.(No,Not on the same day😁) Let you know if I have something else. Great place! Friendly employees. I like the small town feel inside. Have to go to understand.
Jackie M — Google review
Hand's down the worst cheeseburger and fries I have ever had. The fries were super greasy and seemed like they were cooked in old grease and at a low temperature. The burger might have been real meat, but I'm not sure. It was absolutely disgusting. I asked another person how their burger was, they had the same complaints. Who eats this stuff?
Brock — Google review
Established in 2019, I was happy to see how busy and full of energy this restaurant is. Very tasty food, nice presentation and very affordable. Service was excellent, friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. I didn’t want toast with my veggie hash and eggs so the waitress offered a pancake substitute which I chose. There was an up charge, which she did not mention. I am bothered when there are unmentioned hidden charges. That being said, the pancake had an unusual and delicious flavor and texture. This was a wonderful and vibrant restaurant!
Susan M — Google review
Gyro and chicken fried steak were delicious! Service was not lacking in any way. The only thing that didn't hit the pallette well was the water ( I am OVERLY picky with water ) and the french fries could have been better. Would recommend and visit again, great little café!!
Kira K — Google review
I got the BLT and the bacon was gross. I was very very disappointed with it. The fries are also very mediocre. :/ But on a positive note Savannah is one amazing server. She is very positive and upbeat. If the manager was a little kinder to her I think the atmosphere would be a lot less uncomfortable. The manager just had a bad attitude and was snappy with the server.

Fast food restaurant
McDonald's is a beloved fast-food institution that has been delighting customers for decades with its iconic burgers and crispy fries. With around 13,500 locations across the United States, this chain serves up a diverse menu crafted from quality ingredients to millions of patrons daily. One charming aspect of visiting McDonald's is the warm service you might encounter; for instance, an older employee at one location goes out of her way to bring joy to children by offering toys with their breakfast orders—a truly heartwarming gesture!
There is an older woman who works here that often goes above & beyond to make the kids happy. She gave our boys toys when we ordered breakfast; I thought that was so kind of her. The food is often good and fresh when we come here!

30 minute time limit and no soliciting (both for dine in). They do have charging areas. Nice and clean location.
Durin B — Google review
This place is getting worse by the day. There's only a couple nice employees. The rest are rude and lazy. I don't know how many times I've sat waiting for them to answer. Sometimes for 20 or 30 mins. Than you order and wait even longer. Most the time I just order a unsweetened tea. So that's always fun waiting just for a drink. They mess up my order and give me sweet tea most of the time. So I have to go back and go in to get the right drink. When I did, today the manager was rude and ignored me. I had to ask her to get me more tea and she wouldn't do it. So I asked her to bring tea in front because the tea they had was sweetened. She argued with me and brought out the container from drive thru. I'm sick of this place and the attitude's they have. Plus the food is nasty most the time. All I ever get is my drink but that might stop now
Heather P — Google review
Friendly and quick service, but less than 50% chance they get your order right
Dave W — Google review
Went through the drive-thru to order some items. We were told that someone would be with us in a second. We sat there for 5 minutes with zero response back from the employee. We attempted to speak to the employee again just to be told again that someone would be with us. After waiting even longer, we decided to leave without purchasing anything. I can understand if they're backed up or busy, but 7-8 cars passed us during that time. Most of which weren't even there when we arrived.
Zachary B — Google review
Food was fine, but service was exceptionally slow and they had one individual who was on the phone the entire time we were there. Another who didn't seem to know what to do. Main dining. Room and rest rooms also needed to be cleaned.
Cynthia C — Google review
For fast food service slow. You have to ask for ALL condiments which wouldn't be a big deal but sadly they were so busy it was hard to get ketchup.

Nestled in the heart of the community, West Central Bar is a charming spot that feels like home from the moment you step inside. The bartenders are incredibly welcoming, making it easy to strike up a conversation and feel like part of the family. Their menu features delicious offerings such as Philly cheesesteaks and wings that keep patrons coming back for more. With a selection of beers on tap and an array of spirits, there's something for everyone to enjoy.
So so so cozy. It’s a must stop. You’ll be a local within minutes. Food during lunch, you’ll need to drink your dinner as the grill is closed after lunch. Everything is a double and if you need a ride to the hotel, you’ll have plenty of options.

The people were so sweet to our son. They interacted so much. He asked them to kiss his boo-boo (they did lol) it was like we were family too. I would say maybe a few updates needed like female restroom flooring but food was great. The waitress was preparing the food I saw. Which is fine. Nice time.

Wonderful service once you get to know the bartenders. The Philly cheesesteak and wings are great. Few beers on tap and a good selection of alcohol. Two dart boards and a single pool table there’s smoking outside the front entrance and in the back patio area where you can bring your drinks. Ami jukebox

Tacos El Pueblito is a fantastic establishment that offers classic and basic Mexican cuisine. The prices are reasonable and the food is delicious. Despite its small size, this place is definitely worth visiting for their mouthwatering dishes. The chili verdi sauce in particular is fantastic, even appealing to a 10-year-old who typically only enjoys ketchup. Don't miss out on their torta with carne asada and taco with carne asada - both are highly recommended.
Stopped in for lunch daily. Special was beef tacos. Nothing special but they had small bits of potato with the ground beef and usual fixings, cheese, lettuce. But the flavor was excellent. I especially loved their verde sauce and their spicy red sauce. I had a tamale also. It was good. I asked her to put enchilada sauce on it, And she did. It's okay. Dinner order of chile verde pork with corn tortillas. My wife said it was a solid four out of five. I tried it. I thought it was good also. I will probably go back before I leave.

This place rocks! Classic, basic Mexican food and loved it. The price was reasonable too! It's a simple small little place but GO for the food. The chili verdi sauce was fantastic. Even my 10 year old liked it and in her mind the only good sauce in the world is ketchup . I took a couple of pics. I ordered a torta with carne asada and a taco with carne asada.

Plenty possibilities for this to be a great place. But today was disappointing. The brisket was quite dry and tough and the one sauce that was available was weak. A spicy choice of sauce would be nice. There was over a 30min wait for us to get our food and there was only 3 people in the resteraunt. The fries were nice crosscut style perfectly cooked but with a hint of fish flavor. The staff was very friendly. This is a neat place. I may visit again if I hear things change.

Don't let the smaller, slightly run-down exterior fool you. I am was in town for a work conference and was looking for some authentic midwest BBQ. Lady Bug did not disappoint! My pulled pork sandwich and side of waffle fries were absolutely delicious. I was extra-appreciative of the full bottles of ranch and BBQ sauce they provided me so I could drench my food as I pleased. Extremely reasonable pricing and friendly owners/staff.

This was a horrible experience. The "ribeye" was definitely NOT close to a Nebraska Ribeye. It was super thin, like they were trying to pass off a breakfast steak. The waitress was ineffective. She just decided it seemed better to just not give us a second side when told veggies were sold out. She didn't check on our table or offer more water. Overall the food was just bad. The restroom was dirty. Atmosphere was lacking. Oh, and owner, when we offered feedback on the horrible experience, you seemed to care less.

Fast food restaurant
Runza Restaurant, a fast-food chain famous for its German-inspired sandwiches, as well as burgers, onion rings, and crinkle-cut fries, is widely regarded as the ultimate lunch destination in Nebraska. This particular location impeccably embodies the franchise's values with exceptional service and delectable cuisine. The staff efficiently caters to customers' needs without compromising quality. Runza specializes in crafting authentic hamburgers using fresh beef rather than frozen patties.
Stopped in here late Saturday night after Valentino's refused to wait on us. I hadn't tried an actual Runza sandwich in years. Most recently I've ordered there burgers. Anyways, I ordered a Mushroom and Swiss Runza with onion rings. The Runza came out hot and fresh and the rings, were golden brown. I was completely blown away with the fantastic service and freshness of the Runza. Valentino's you've lost my business.

First ones in the restaurant for the day. Stopped on the way home to Texas. Had to have Runza one last time. Onion rings were a little over cooked. The rest of the food was good. Got a Swiss mushroom runza to eat for dinner and it tasted good cold from the cooler. Wish we could have some in Texas. I miss the food. Restaurant was pretty clean. Bathrooms were clean.

Seven minutes after entering the state of Nebraska we were rolling up to this Runza restaurant knowing how enjoyable this Nebraska classic is. As usual they did not disappoint with a friendly welcome we placed our order and shortly afterwards were enjoying the fresh made daily meat pockets they are famous for. We ordered both the classic and cheese Runzas. Both are very good but we prefer the cheese over the original. We also got the hand cut and battered onion rings which came out hot and crispy. Their seasonal pumpkin spice shake looked very tempting but I skipped and regretted afterwards as I really wanted to try one! Well worth the visit when passing through Nebraska! This location had friendly staff, clean bathrooms and great food.

I haven't been to Nebraska in many years and wanted to try a Runza. It was delicious although a bit small. I had the onion rings and they were below average. The place was clean and the staff was nice. Service was fast during a busy lunch. Overall not bad but the onion rings need some love.
Dan M — Google review
The food is great, but the service is so SLOOWW!!!!! Maybe they need more workers or faster workers, I’m not sure what it is but they need to figure it out! The car infront of me had drove off because of how long it took to get their food. Absolutely ridiculous . If they want consistent customers, they’re gonna have to figure something out.
Ana O — Google review
Pretty decent food when you know what to expect. That being said, when they claim their food is homemade, expectations are high. Runza is very similar to a French dip sandwich, tasted great, but less seasoned than I expected. As for service, not sure I was told to listen for my order and wait at the counter when other customers got table service. Oh well. The homemade ranch WAS good. Chicken sandwich was okay. The meat was a bit dry inside but wet outside - as if it was steamed to be heated, not grilled.
Daniel B — Google review
This was actually my first experiences with a runza. I applaud Nebraska for such a delicious, easy to eat food. I am now officially addicted to runzas!!!!
Kara — Google review
There is no better place to in Nebraska to get lunch than Runza. This location did a great job of representing the franchise, great service and great food. They were fast and helpful. If you want a real hamburger than is made from fresh beef, this is your place. None of that frozen patty stuff here.

If you're on the road and find yourself in Pawnee City, a stop at Burger King is definitely worth considering. This popular fast-food chain is famous for its delicious grilled burgers, crispy fries, and creamy shakes that can satisfy any craving. While there might be a bit of a wait—around five minutes during my visit—the friendly staff made the experience pleasant. The food was served hot and fresh, making it an enjoyable pit stop for travelers looking to refuel.
That lady in the drive thru was very nice. Keep up the good work...

I was in Nebraska City on 10/08 and decided to go through the drive through to get a quick bite to eat. I ordered a whopper meal and after waiting a long time for my food, I was disappointed to find the most Caucasian french fries ever; severely undercooked and inedible!
Travis M — Google review
They absolutely suck. Food was Gross. I went through with my family on our way to go camping I got myself a wrapper I asked for no pickles but guess what they decide to just hide all the pickles in a pile in the middle of the burger so that after I had eaten most of my sandwich I got a month full of pickles and soggy bread.
Lita A — Google review
Was told they don't serve tea. Also the lady at window was stuck up. Another review 3 of us ordered food asked for zesty sauce and was given 1 damn pack. Come on people do better. Made it home with food. Ordered a crispy onion burger and they put onion rings on it and no crispy onions lmfao can't do anything right there i guess

With everything going on I think they are skimping on the fries. Thinking that you won't go back through and complain. In my case she said they were very hot and she wasn't lying, well when I got home this is what was there and I didn't eat any on the way home because like she said they were hot!

Day 4

Off the beaten path
For day 4, if you don’t mind the extra trek, today covers more off the beaten path places like The Golf Club at Table Creek. Not quite as popular as Arbor Lodge State Historical Park, but still highly rated among many travelers. Accounting for getting around and average time spent, today’s activities could take about 8 hours.

Nestled in a picturesque setting, The Golf Club at Table Creek offers an enjoyable golfing experience that combines fun and challenge. The fairways are impressively maintained, providing a smooth ride for your game. While the layout features a delightful variety of holes—some easy and others more demanding—the greens could use some attention to enhance playability. Despite this minor setback, the thick rough adds an extra layer of difficulty that keeps golfers on their toes.
Great course, lots of fun, very thick and long rough significantly adds to course difficulty
Bill C — Google review
The fairways are in absolutely terrific shape. The layout is fun and challenging. Overall, it’s a very nice course. However, most of the greens are in bad shape. The way the ball rolled across the greens kinda reminded me of Plinko from the Price is Right 🤣. If the greens were in better shape it easily gets 5-stars.

Wildwood Historic Center, located in Nebraska City, is a glimpse into the Victorian era through the lens of the Ware family's 10-room Gothic-revival house. The center showcases life during that time with its formal and informal parlors, dining room, and kitchen filled with period furniture and accessories. Additionally, it houses original buildings from the late 19th century such as an old post office, opera house, church, and other historic structures.
Great stop while we were traveling through the area. The house is nice and is full of period appropriate furnishings and clothing. The garden and grounds area are also very nice.
Ilona K — Google review
Wildwood Historic Center was Nebraska Passport stop number 62 for us in 2024. We knew it closed at 5 pm, but we did not realize the tours stopped at 4 pm, so since we arrived shortly 4, we missed out on the house tour. We did enjoy the gift shop tucked away in what were originally the stables, and a leisurely walk through the Victorian gardens was pleasant as well.
Chris R — Google review
Beautiful place. Our motorcoach trip was divided into groups. We toured the house. And had afternoon tea and scones. Our guide was so good to answer questions about the house. Afternoon tea was a great way to end our day.
Vanessa W — Google review
Our tour guide was so fun! She was dressed in a period style dress and was very knowledgeable. The grounds are beautiful as well.
Kelli B — Google review
This tour was a wonderfully detailed walk through life in the country, during the Victorian era. The guide, who was dressed in appropriate clothing for that time period, was passionate, fun, and lively. She always left time for questions after each room visited. The tour of this home is an extended walk through, but for good reason. There are so many details, stories, and items which were used by families in that era that were so interesting and filled with fun facts. The tour does provide a few chairs throughout the walk for those who have issues with standing for too long (me), so I was grateful for this. If you wish to step back in time, I highly recommend! The gift shop is quaint with local art, and the lady at the front desk was welcoming and gracious too! Give it a shot if you value historical sites….it won’t disappoint.
Chris D — Google review
We truly enjoyed our tour. Our guide was knowledgeable and we had so many “I never knew that!” moments. The gift shop contains some wonderful local work as well. Worth the stop!!

Nestled within the charming Lied Lodge, the Library Lounge is a delightful retreat that exudes warmth and comfort. This inviting space features an ambiance reminiscent of a classic library, complete with rich wood paneling and a cozy fireplace, making it an ideal spot for unwinding after a day of exploration at Arbor Day Farm. Guests can indulge in expertly crafted cocktails, local beers, and delectable bites from Timbers without the need for reservations.
Tucked away at the Lied Lodge, The Library Lounge is a quiet, cozy, inviting place to have a cocktail or something to eat with friends or for romance! Full service bar, fun and friendly bar tenders and a great menu. The place feels like a quiet and comfortable, old wood paneled library with a fireplace and incredible collection of wood species.
Susan M — Google review
The food had a nice flavor, but both sandwiches were nearly impossible to actually eat! The ban mi sandwich had a huge dinosaur bone in it, which was easy enough to remove, but was absurd to present. It was unwieldy and fell apart when biting, and because of the size, it was impossible to get a bit with both meat and the slaw on top, so you ended up eating one or the other only with bread. The club was tall and skinny, on crumbling focaccia bread, a good flavor, but not able to be picked up and enjoyed as a sandwich. The accompanying side salads were fine, nothing special, but pleasant. The tempura veggies were served in a deep, skinny bowl with all of the dipping sauce at the very bottom, impossible to get at unless you took all of the veggies out first. Then they were soaked in sauce on one end. Not a good way to serve this at all!
Nicole F — Google review
We enjoyed a late dinner and cocktail when we arrived to Lied Lodge. Very quaint and cozy. Delicious food too. Great service as well.
Jodi B — Google review
We went in to the Library bar for a drink. We sat at a two top by the bar and were passed by several times by different servers. After 10 minutes of patiently waiting to even be acknowledged we gave up and left. We had recently had a good experience in the restaurant so hoped we would encounter the same in the bar. Not so much, very disappointing.

Maple L — Google review
The food was good as always, though the drinks (a white Russian and Moscow mule) had virtually no alcohol. The service was non-existent. The waitress rushed by our table and never even made eye contact when dropping off water or a to go box. She finally threw the check on top of the table as she rushed yet again to go ask the next table if everything was ok. We counted 7 times where she asked the other two tables if she could do anything else or to simply pick up plates but in over 20 min she never once stopped by ours. Super disappointed...
Joanna F — Google review
Good drinks and food from the co-located restaurant without needing reservations. The staff is friendly, knowledgeable and attentive, though not always readily available. Kinda pricey.

Apple House Market

Visit the Apple House Market for a unique experience like an evening wine scavenger hunt in the Tree Adventure's back trails. Make sure to wear appropriate footwear and be at least 21 years old to join. The ticket price covers a glass of hard cider, beer, or wine. It's a beautiful place with great food, outdoor space, and various activities. The market offers an outstanding selection of interesting items and has friendly and helpful staff.
Whenever we are in town from Chicago, we try to make it a point to stop here. I love the little wine tasting / bar area.
David M — Google review
Wine and cider itself was good but the wine flight was not worth the $10 spent on it. Each serving wasn’t any larger than 1 oz per wine or cider you tried. And it looked like you could get a tiny cup to try before you bought it for free. Service could have been better but maybe they were short staffed. Nice place to get cute gifts and treats.
Sarah B — Google review
I'll preface this as this post was from an experience during the middle of the AppleJack festival, so it's their busiest days. Now, I used to come here when I was younger and it felt like in was really part of the experience. Now, even going into the sorting room is prohibited, the store feels like some wannabe winery, and the line was so long, we just left without buying anything. Now, we did buy stuff in the tent outside, I have no idea if it's the same business, but our frozen gallon of $15 cider leaked out every bit of flavor out of it before we even got home, making for about a cupful of concentrated cider and nothing else. We couldn't thaw it, we didn't have a container to let it drain into, so please just make sure those aren't split before you sell them? Thanks. It will be some time before I come back here, it just wasn't the same experience I had when I was a kid. Nice glow-up, sorry about the fire, and I know evolution of business and safety are all factors, but I'll be looking for a more rustic experience for our next visit.
E S — Google review
They were having a wine tasting when we got there. Looked very inviting but I don't drink and drive so I passed. Since the last time I was here they added a BBQ place unfortunately we had already eaten maybe next time.
John D — Google review
Cute and welcoming on the inside, I did the wine flight and it was fun to try Nebraska wines. I found a couple that I liked, and I really enjoyed the hard cider made from the farms apples. Would definitely recommend this stop! Also the bbq smelled excellent, next time will be trying it!

If you're on the hunt for a delightful dining experience, look no further than Hong Kong Buffet. This gem offers an impressive array of dishes that are sure to tantalize your taste buds. Diners rave about the stuffed mushrooms, claiming they are among the best they've ever had at any Chinese buffet across various states. The crab rangoons also receive high praise for their flavor and quality.
The food is surprisingly very good. The stuffed mushrooms are the best I have ever eaten and I have been to a lot of different Chinese buffets in many different states. The Rangoons are very good as well. It's cafeteria style when you pay 1st and serve yourself. I will definitely be back.
Kacey S — Google review
I've loved this place for years. I went in today for a to-go meal. The lady who worked at the front counter was extremely rude and rolled her eyes at me when I asked for a container for sauce. Most of the warmers were empty and there was few options that looked fresh. The chicken was very dry and had been sitting out for hours by the looks of it.
Justyce C — Google review
I gave it two stars because the buffet and a pop was like $15. The food is bad. Cold and bad, except the crab rangoons which were really good. There is no service at all except for the guy that you pay when you enter. No taking away old dishes, no asking you how things are, no contact at all. There is no atmosphere either, old booths and chairs. The tv was on but only showed a "no input" screen. The place was empty, just me and one other group. Maybe the locals know something. The guy at the motel warned me not to go here but I didn't listen. My bad. Hour and a half later my tummy is gurgling and not in a good way. Eat here at your own risk.
J H — Google review
We got our buffets to go since we had horses in the trailer, and it was hot outside. The food was very good and the price wasn't bad. I'm glad we stopped.

It'll do in a pinch for Chinese food they will make it fresh if there out of something just ask
Dad's W — Google review
I did delete my previous review but decided to put it back on here because the owner saw the person that was with me several times and confronted her regarding my previous review and was very rude. She had nothing to do with this. In fact the owner should have confronted me instead of the person I previously ate lunch there with. The food is ok but an excessive amount of onions, more onions then meat, and the potatoes are always saturated in oil. They are bad about picking up the dirty dishes from the tables and the bathrooms are solely in need of some attention. Hopefully the owner, which is the lady behind the counter, treats her customers better and with more respect, otherwise she'll be losing more customers.
