Enchanted Forest Water Safari

Amusement park
Water Safari in Old Forge, New York is the state's largest water theme park with over 50 rides and attractions. The park offers a variety of experiences for visitors, including thrilling water rides like Killermanjaros Revenge and Mamba Strike, as well as family-friendly options such as Cascade Falls and Log Jammer. In addition to the water attractions, there are classic amusement park dry rides like Tilt-O-Whirl and bumper cars.
This place is awesome and more than we expected. We took my daughter for her 7th birthday celebration. It's not only a great water park, it has a small zoo, several dry rides, a train, sky ride, 30 minute circus, and more. You can also bring your own food and drink! We went during a rather cool spell (68°), which isn't necessarily ideal for a water park. However we enjoyed the dry portion of the park first and saved the water rides for until after lunch. It was a little cooler than idea, the cool weather resulted in virtually no waiting for the water slides. According to the signs, on busy days, lines can result in an hour or more wait on some of the popular water slides! During our visit , we literally ran from slide to slide with no waiting! It was a great day!

Our family loves this place! Great for kids of all ages, rides for the younger ones in the back, but the water park is the real highlight of the park. There is lots to do, even on busy days you don't wait as long as other water parks and their siesta promotion lets you goin in the day before after 3pm till close then the full next day. Great value, fantastic park, friendly staff.
Bill H — Google review
First time for me and my kids going to the park. many of the rides were running efficiently. However, one was not and they didn't tell you and it created an hour-long wait where there shouldn't have been one. We had a couple of great staff members that were coordinating the rides Anna and another girl and they were awesome. Food was relatively inexpensive for amusement park food.
Russell A — Google review
We camped over at the campgrounds so it was a great experience to kind of break our trip up. We passed water safari a few times before we came since its located right in downtown old forge. When the kids finally got to come they loved it. We have been here several times. I didn't notice many changes if any. Everyone had a great time.
April — Google review
I’ve seen the negative reviews. But there’s so many good qualities about the park. The fries bucket was big enough for me and my husband. The waterslides only really had a 10-15 minute wait. The foos was great and the wave pool was fun. One thing I didn’t like was that they force the dogs to do tricks. The black fluffy one clearly saw he didn’t want to do the tricks but she forced him by the leash. And the circus could do with more crowd interaction rather than playing with a ball. Other than that the park is great and I will come again! Props to the conductor of the train!! I love how kind he was and awesome at his job! If he sees this, it’s us, the newlyweds!
Heather A — Google review
Went with my family and we had fun all day, the kids absolutely loved it and couldn't get enough of the tidal wave and the giant water slides. The lazy river was fun too. Love this place.
Jude O — Google review
As a lifelong visitor of this park, I was very concerned about the changes being implemented under the new ownership. However, after our last visit on June 30, 2025- I have to say I was very impressed. Entrance to the park was extremely fast. Just a quick wand of your bags. The park itself is very much the same. The park was very clean, staff was friendly and engaging. One tiny little thing I’d like to see change. I don’t mind spending money on food inside the park. However, the food wasn’t very good. Very expensive burger that was the size of McDonald’s, pizza and fries at the pizza place was mediocre at best. We had cheese on half our pizza and the last 3 inches to the crust was just sauce. Fries tasted stale. My boneless wings were good but very small. The food needs to be better. Next time I won’t bother spending money on food inside the park. We will wait and hit pied piper afterwards. That was really our only disappointment.
Kelley A — Google review
We were pleasantly surprised with the cleanliness and the amenities at the water park. The rides were great there were a lot of them and the lines were not long.

Campground
RV park
Old Forge Camping Resort is a popular destination for nature lovers in the heart of the Adirondacks, offering a variety of accommodation options including cabins, cottages, RV sites, and tent sites. The resort is known for its beautiful scenery and well-maintained campsites, making it one of the most famous camping spots in New York. Situated near Enchanted Forest Water Safari, it provides outdoor activities for families.
This year was a first for me and my family. We absolutely loved it. It was such a peaceful stay. I think its great that all of the trees are put to great use with their man made cabins, and constant firewood to burn. It was a great place to stay. The other guest were friendly and respectful, everything seems to get quiet as soon as it gets dark, which is great on a family get away. They have a private beach, an arcade, and laundry on site. I was pretty unprepared for this trip and it still was a great time. The start of a family tradition.

I have camped here for over 20yrs. this year I arrived at 515pm to find office closed. they sent an email( my service was awful so I didn't get ) drove 2.5 hours. arrived and had no clue how to get to my cabin or get a key. I called the number on the board no one called me back. I had to find a spot with service finally was able to pull up email. this was all very frustrating after driving 2.5 hours with kids. then I was unable to purchase wood or anything at the camp store, we had to pack up the kids go into town and find some that was wet. I have never in the past years experienced this. its a holiday week and they close at 5pm!!!! furthermore I have not seen one security person, staff person at night. I always felt safe here and loved this place this was very disappointing. also have not seen 1 cleaning person , the bathroom was horrible , no toilet paper and of corse no staff to contact , what is going on, I heard there is new owners they need to get priorities set and hire staff instead of making money. because they will lose long term customers on a positive note the bedding is much better than it use to be

Ended up booking a camper site here with full hookups. Loved every minute of it. Campground is full of activity and campers were all friendly. The walk to water safari is about 15 min and not bad at all. Checking in was super quick, you cannot check in even 1 min early. It's not the employees it's the computer system. It's set on a clock so don't arrive early. Place is super clean and the wildlife is abundant.

We were there on what turned out to be a major Halloween weekend event in September. We had no idea that it was going to be occurring. Lots of loud music from the pavilion until about 10 o’clock at night. Extremely crowded. I think every site was full. By Sunday morning, the Campground had cleared out quite a bit, and the restrooms were locked due to plumbing issues. There were other restrooms available, but further away. I prefer a more quiet and nature based camping experience, and if going in the fall again, would shoot for a weekday instead of the weekend, because there’s like five or six weeks of Halloween themed weekends. We loved the time there after the weekend! We had 30 amp service for our camper, but were told that we shouldn’t use our AC or electric heaters because they couldn’t support all the electric usage throughout the campground. That is crazy. Why do we have 30 amp then? We think after the weekend and most of the Campground cleared out it probably wouldn’t be a problem.

I've stayed several years here with not many issues, but since it sold last year I feel the cleanliness has been much less important to them. Our stay was for 5 nights in a cottage. Our group rents 4 cottages Not exactly cheap so with that you'd expect a clean quarters. The refrigerator, toilet, shower, and under beds (floor) visibly dirty. When I grabbed the toilet brush to clean the toilet myself there was feces in the brush holder. There was a paper bowl of captain crunch in the cabinet. Absolutely disgusting. Never had an issue like this in the past. We've decided to find other arrangements for our future trips. Unfortunately I did not take pics of everything.

I originally booked 2 cabins with hopes of getting a cottage instead. I called on a regular basis. We ended up being able to get a cottage but would need to move sites on the Friday. And I was Fine with that as long as i was expecting it. Then I received a call on July 3 letting us know that a cottage was available for the entire stay and we wouldnt need to move after all. I was super excited ! When we got there I checked in confirmed that we would not need to move cottages and as promised I brought the staff cookies as a thank you. The next day I received a call letting us know we had to switch cottages. We were on or way to the water safari, had to come all the way back, pack all our stuff up and switch cottages. I also shared the message that I received from them with the manager letting them see with their own eyes that I was told that they had a cottage available for us for our entire stay so we would not have to move. They didn’t seam to care much. We still had to move. So we ended up moving sites. So We won’t be back. We were at cottage 2 for the second part of our stay. The view and site was nice. And the cottage was pretty much exactly the same as the cottage we had to move from. This was our 3rd year camping here. Also, the store and showers close super early. So if you need something go early. Also they used to have breakfast sandwiches in the am, that is no longer a thing there. And the small fridges are very small. Pack a cooler . And a fan. And the park smells like pot. I personally can’t stand it. I know a lot of people like it but while camping i prefer the smell of the great out doors. Not drugs. On a positive note, cottage # 2 is better than cottage #5 because you can park right there and bring your stuff right to the door from the stairs. Cottage 5 has a hill you need to walk down to get to the site.

Very basic amenities, and crowded in the summer season. Golf cart traffic was annoying and prevalent. Only two showers and toilets (co-ed) for our section of the park made for some uncomfortable waits. Our basic cabin had a torn screen which we repaired ourselves. The directional signs are reflective, but in anything but a pickup truck, you won't be able to read them. Frustrating if getting in after dark. Expensive for what we got. Had to pay a deposit for a second key. Nice little lake, and well equipped camp store.

My husband and I have been camping at Old Forge Camping resort for around 7 years. This year was very disappointing. We checked in on Wed, with all the changes that were made I asked a lot of questions. First was to book out site for next year, and a cottage. I checked on our golf cart rental and was told it was not for Wed, but Thursday and I would have to come back after 2. I asked about check in time for my daughter and SIL the next day, I was told NO one can check in before 2 that's the policy. Ok fast forward to Thursday as we were sitting enjoying our time numerous worker golf carts were FLYING through the campground so much so it felt we were in a dust storm. Thank goodness there were not a lot of kids there yet because there is NO way they would have been able to stop the speed they were going, Then around 1130 we started seeing campers pulling in (what about the 2 o'clock check in). Honestly they should not have all campers checking in at the same time because they would be backed up all they way into town. My husband and I walked up to get our golf cart at around 230m, waited in line for well over 20 minutes only to be told that our reservations wasn't until Friday - I said I asked yesterday at check in and he said tomorrow she said "no sorry its Friday" so I asked if there was a golf cart available and we would add the rental - she said no. Ok my bad for not getting online and checking my reservation. We get back to our campsite and ran into some friends - she asked if we got our tickets - I said tickets for what she said that we had to have tickets for the dry rides and activities at Water Safari on Sat. She also informed me that they booked their sites for next year two weeks earlier. About an hour later my daughter and SIL arrived, I asked my SIL where my daughter and grandkids were he said "oh she is coming up the golf cart" (their reservation wasn't until Friday) now at this point I was frustrated - an hour earlier there wasn't one available. They get settled and I asked if they got their tickets of course the response was for what? So we all had to go back up wait in a ridiculous line (again) for tickets that should have been given at check in. Friday my husband went back again to get the golf cart and by goodness they had one after a 35 minute wait. Two other couples in our group were supposed to get carts and were told their reservation was cancelled because they did not have enough. Fast forward Saturday - we finished our site decorating and were going to head up to take showers and my daughter informed me they had just closed them because they were flooding. Saturday night we broke down our site decorations at 715 because it was already getting dark only for the judges to come by and say Oh you broke down already ? We said well its dark and we are leaving in the morning my husband said what took so long the girl laughed and said Oh we got behind - judging stated at 5 and they drove past out site no less than 3 times. What we found out this weekend is we are still paying the same amount for inconsistency (depends on who you talk to on what you get) understaffing (long waits), unfriendly staff and non working services (bathrooms and showers). We already booked for next year because you have to book so far in advance we will see how next year goes. Hopefully it improves.

Fun & Games
The Strand Theatre is a historic cinema that showcases current films in a vintage theater from the 1920s. Despite its smaller screen size, visitors are pleasantly surprised by the exceptional picture and sound quality once the movie begins. Additionally, the venue itself serves as a captivating museum of traditional film and recording equipment. On rainy days, it tends to be crowded; however, the attentive staff ensures that everyone's needs are met.
What an incredible 101-year-old movie theatre, and it was an experience I won’t forget! Not only is it a beautifully preserved piece of history, but it also doubles as a mini museum, showcasing artifacts and memorabilia from a century of film. The ambiance is rich with nostalgia, and you can almost feel the stories of the past surrounding you. The service was excellent – the staff was friendly and clearly passionate about the theatre's legacy. Plus, the ticket prices were very affordable, making it an amazing value for such a unique experience. Whether you're a film buff or just looking for a memorable outing, this theatre is a must-visit!"

This theater was a silver lining when our hiking trip got rained out! Such a unique theater, and we'll definitely make it a point to visit when we're in town again. The theater is like a museum of movie memorabilia and old cameras. Also a full concessions stand, and both the tickets and snacks were very reasonably priced. All of the staff were friendly, was a great stop

If you’re looking for an amazing experience for watching a movie, The Strand is where you should go. It’s truly such a beautiful experience for history. Even though small and even though maybe not peak quality in what you’re listening to or watching, but it’s worth it in how they bring that old school authentic movie theater experience. Also they have pints of ice cream and tea? Truly beautiful. I saw Final Destination here. From what I have heard, most horror movies get put into the smaller theatre, but as mentioned, worth it. The staff was sweet and there is even a photo booth within the theatre that you can get a picture in. Do this! Go Here!

This is probably one of the best places in Adirondack and one of the best movie theaters. Depending on which movie you are watching, you could be in a small screen theatre. This place gives you a great vibe and takes you back in time with all the vintage cameras that one gets to see. A must visit place in Old Forge, Adirondack
H S — Google review
A must-see. Not only is it a great little theater, it's like a museum of photography and film. This locally owned, independent theatre is charming, with lots of original cinematic elements still in use. Love it!

Best little “general store “ hardware store around! It has been my favorite place to go as a child, and continues to be my favorite place to come and shop when I am in the area! Great selection of housewares and camping accessories, hardwares as well as books! I never leave empty handed! May this store continue to flourish and prosper ❤️✌️🐻

Lots of awesome stuff in here! Staff here were extremely helpful and nice- I visited in a Sunday and wished I had came in with plenty of more time to visit in order to see everything in this awesome place. I would recommend at least 1 hour to check everything out. I am planning another trip for 1.5 hours away just to come back and see everything I had missed. The place is absolutely perfect for Christmas shopping!

Ridiculous prices thst make no sense. Yes they have a big selection of items to browse, but I’m not sure who would be able to afford any of it. I saw a beautiful dinner plate that cost $60 for one plate. It made me and my family sad because we could not afford anything at all. Only come here if you are literally rich or if you only intend to window shop. Pretty much everything in Old Forge is getting to be the same way. Prices are just out of control.

I have been a patron of Front Door Diner for several years now, enjoying meals at both their dinner area and bar. I can confidently say that I've never had a negative dining experience here. Their dishes are made to order, ensuring that everything is served hot and fresh. The staff is friendly and efficient, promptly clearing empty plates and refilling drinks. As someone who prefers Pepsi-Cola, I appreciate their well-curated soda selection.
very friendly and fast service here. we came twice because we loved the food, and it was priced fair. good breakfast sandwich and home fries. oh and big fluffy pancakes 🙂

Food was good, really enjoyed the Buffalo wrap. The waitress wasn't rude but she wasn't friendly either. She didn't greet us just asked what we wanted to drink. Never smiled, and I have no idea what her name is. The atmosphere is quaint, but outdated, could use a new ceiling and a new coat of paint. Would not go back here.

Shelly was an incredible server. I had a great time hiking with my friends, we had stopped at this diner once before on a previous hike, the waitress not only remembered us but remembered our friend Jack who ate pickles with mayo. She (as a fun surprise) brought him pickles. We all had a good laugh. I was expected just a good breakfast but Shelly made it feel like I was having a meal with family. We actually chatted with her about our lives and joked about kidnapping her to take her on an adventure with us. What could have just been a decent breakfast experience became a delightful meal with new friends. I absolutely recommend this place, but I mostly recommend Shelly who was an absolute delight. Sometime I wanna hear more about her Vermont trips and share a cold one with her. Go eat here. Ask for Shelly. You’re welcome.

Adirondack Dog House is a beloved spot in Old Forge, NY that takes pride in serving the best hot dogs in the Adirondacks. The chili-filled, cheese-topped hot dog is a must-try and guarantees an exceptional experience. Fido is welcome at the outside picnic tables, adding to the warm atmosphere created by excellent staff and engaging owners.
Put their award to the test. Best dog in the Adirondack, i agree. Small laid back dog house. I had the Southern Dog which took me to the south and deep fried corn on the cob that smells like popcorn and delicious. My wife had the chili cheese dog. The owner was so helpful towards my baby and family. Good people. Spend your money here

Amazing hot dog! Very friendly and clean. Hot dog loaded with plenty of toppings and amazing prices- under 10$ for two hot dogs. Incredibly high quality too.

The service was just outstanding here, I'd give it 10 stars if I could. The staff remembered our individual orders from the order line to the table, even after we shuffled around and all that. She even took special care to pull together tables for us so we could sit together after the families at the tables left. It's a little place that had a decent number of guests while we were there on a Tuesday afternoon, but the service was impressively quick and the food was obviously fresh. And also delicious! It's nothing elaborate but is very cute, very clean, very comfortable, and has great staff and great food. I highly recommend stopping in for an "all the way" dog!
