Serene, vista-filled state park featuring unusual volcanic rock formations plus camping & hiking.
I had no idea this place existed. Huge rocks in all shapes and sizes. It reminded me of Stonehenge and where the Flintstones might live. Rocks teetering on top of each other, rocks that looked like different things, rocks with holes in them, rocks split. I think it would be awesome to camp by the rocks and couldn’t figure out why most campers were huddled together close to the ranger station. At first I thought they were afraid the rocks might shift and roll on their campers. Then I realized they had electric, running water and sewage where they were. Those things aren’t available at the rock campsites. Yeah, that’s where I would be, too. I don’t recall the fee for camping but it wasn’t much. Day pass for vehicles was $10 non residence, $5 for New Mexicans. Enter fee is on a “trust but verify” basis. You put your money in the honor box but first you must fill out a paper, keeping a copy for your windshield, the rest goes in the box. There’s a little more to it than that but that’s the long and short of it. Rangers may stop you for a spot check of your integrity. We drove around the park taking pictures then we reversed course and went around again. This place was super cool, especially if you like rocks as much as we do. I would highly suggest spending some time here if you’re in the area or passing through. A real hidden gem.

The rock formations are very fun to explore. There’s a lot of picnic areas. There’s bathrooms. They also have camping grounds for small and very large groups. It’s very hot and the trees are dry because of the heat, so they don’t provide shade. I would recommend coming in cooler months; I was just passing by.

We had so much fun at City of Rocks. My kids loved climbing on and exploring in the rocks. It is a natural playground and maze all in one. We could have spent all day just exploring in the rocks but we also enjoyed the hieroglyph scavenger hunt and visiting the visitor center where the staff were very friendly. One of the most unique places we have ever camped.
Michael T — Google review
Amazing place to visit. There are non-electric campsites among the rocks or electric campsites in a row outside of the rocks. The electric sites are typical campground with not much space between. The non-electric are spread out and most are quite private. This is is a hide and go seek paradise. Its fun exploring all the formations, nooks and crannies. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. We stayed one night but could have easily stayed two. Check in at 4pm with checkout at 2pm gives plenty of time to explore the rocks. There is a separate set of rocks up on a lookout hill that you can hike to or drive to. There is a picnic table at the top with a parking lot. There are also several trails in the area for those staying longer than overnight. Sunset was amazing. Those camped along the Westside got an amazing view. We camped in site six which was interior to some rocks. A small trailer will fit but take care in backing in. Note that the bathrooms are not close to most sites. The visitors center has showers which were extremely busy in the morning even though the night we stayed there were not that many campers. Probably about 1/4 full on non-electric sites. The electric sites were completely full. Apparently they like the public bathroom better than their own.
Greg H — Google review
This was our first experience camping at City of Rocks. We had sites 20-25. 21-24 are rather close to each other. 20 is elevated and fairly separated from the other sites, but you have to hike a good 500 feet in from the parking spot. The rocks and bouldering are the main draw here, as well as the dark skies for stargazing. Other than the wind, November is a great time to visit. Be aware that the gate is locked at 9 PM each night. Drinking water was available during our visit, and the visitor's center has ice, and many other items you may have forgotten. Deming and Silver City are the closest towns nearby, about 30 minutes away for each.
Jesse Y — Google review
The photos posted can’t express the “Ahhh experience” to this natural wonder. It is worth stopping off the beaten path and exploring. The RV and campsites were nice, offering electric and non electric sites. If you are not a fan of camping or are just traveling through it’s worth the hour or two stop and enjoying this natural beauty. The park also has a site rental for educational activities such as star gazing and other outdoor events. This information can all be found online or at the guest center/gift shop.

Enjoyed a cool, rainy day at City of Rocks. Visitor center staff is friendly. clean restrooms and a shower available, plenty of covered shelters with picnic tables. My group rented the big pavilion to hold an SCA event. Kids enjoyed climbing the huge rocks. Be careful with wildlife. A tarantula walked across our camp minding his business.
Elena F — Google review
Very cool. Huge boulders in the middle of the desert. The visitor's center has a map of where petroglyphs are. There are a lot of wonderful campsites amongst the rocks.

Wineries & Vineyards
While camping at City of Rocks State Park, we made a trip to Deming for supplies and stumbled upon Luna Rossa Winery. The staff was incredibly friendly, providing not only information about their wines but also about the winery itself. It's amazing to see a thriving vineyard amidst the stark desert surroundings. The folks at Luna Rossa even offered us a generous discount on a case of wine.
We learned about this winery at the Love Shack in T or C. Love that they have a sweet and dry selection. They are super friendly and dog friendly too! We went inside on our 2nd visit to get a glass of wine and asked if we could take it outside to let the dogs run. No issues. Happy us and happy pups!
Molly F — Google review
Luna Rossa vineyard was our Harvest Host for the night. We enjoyed their 2 sweet girls who poured us 5 free wine tastings. They have an extensive menu of full range of local wine selections and a few beer options. RV overnight parking was on a level, gravel lot with a 180⁰ view of nicely tended grape vines. Their pizza offerings are limited to specific days, one of which did not included the day we stayed. And, the sunrise! Great little refreshing, friendly stop!
Faith H — Google review
For my tastes, the wine here was clean and clear. There was good flavor and great service. Tastings are free in hopes of bottle or glass purchase. No pressure sales. Open inside and out with shaded patio. The grapevines surround the building, which are neat to see

Beautiful 40 acre winery. Staff Cynthia was great and laid-back. Had a great time with the locals. Wines are great tasting.

Really neat place. Extremely remote down some pretty rough roads, and the park trails are quite deteriorated as well. I was able to find some interesting stones in the road along the way, though. I definitely recommend a 4x4 if it's wet. There are some pretty big holes. NOTE: If you head to Cooke's spring house (the gazebo looking structure), BEWARE OF RATTLESNAKES! It was literally being guarded by one on the concrete pad by the signs, and he wasn't going to move.
Willy N — Google review
The road to the ruins is immediately after the cattle guard with the "Ft. Cummings" arrow signage pointing left (south-west), follow the barbed fence and then follow the only tracks westward afterwards. Following Google maps will route you to the Hyatt family's driveway instead of the ruins since the ruins themselves are (from the gps' view) "right there", when in fact they are a whole hillside behind their private property (you obviously cannot access it from there). You will need a high clearance vehicle with thick tires since other vehicles and the elements have eroded away the single lane dirt road there. I would not recommend bringing too large of a vehicle or a trailer/camper here. 4x4 is a must in wet conditions. The ruins themselves have been fenced with a narrow entry way, or otherwise inaccessible, so the pictures posted by others here might be better than actually visiting the site itself.
B S — Google review
If you enjoy reading about the Indian Wars a visit to Fort Cummings is worth the trip, if just to better understand the terrain challenges faced by the 9th Cavalry during the Vicotorio War. I was able to get to the site in a Ford Escape rental car and if you are comfortable on dirt roads and take your time most vehicles should not have an issue. There are a few spots where the road is rutted or rocky but careful driving will get you through. As others have pointed out follow the signs and not your GPS. Almost exactly 1 mile after turning off State Route 26 onto County Road A019 you will pass through a cattle guard (32.428614, -107.587472), turn left and follow the trail due west along the fence line. It is about 4 miles to the Cemetery and 4.5 miles to the ruins of the Fort. According to GAIA GPS you are on either BLM or State Trust land except for the Butterfield Stage area that is on Flying U Ranch Land.

Ambush of the Freeman Thomas Mail Party, July 1861 Of all the battles in Cooke’s Canyon, there is none more famous than the Apache ambush of conductor Freeman Thomas’ westbound San Antonio & San Diego Mail Line coach in July of 1861, about two years before the Army established Fort Cummings. Although many details of the battle have been lost to history, Mangas and Cochise, the Apache leaders that protected their homelands &Thomas, watchful for travelers through the canyon. had equipped his coach with a good supply of arms, probably including the highly effective breech-loading Sharps rifles, and ammunition. His party comprised an experienced and diverse group of men of the western frontier. Thomas himself, a 29-year-old native of Ohio, had seen the results of Apache fury first hand, on the trail. His driver, Joseph Roescher, a 26-year-old from Germany, left little clue to his past, but he apparently had worked on the stage line for some period. Thomas’ passengers – including 19-year-old Emmett Mills, Robert S. Avaline, Matthew Champion, John Wilson, and John Portell – came to the frontier from various locations to the east. They had worked as stagecoach hands, miners, ranchers and gamblers. Some had been involved in shootouts. Some had seen the aftermath of Apache attacks. They all knew the risk they faced, and they brought their own side arms and rifles. Leaving from Mesilla, Thomas took his coach northward along the west side of the Rio Grande along the Mesilla Valley to the Picacho station, where he turned westward, past Picacho Peak, then across some 50 miles of desert to Cooke’s Spring and the eastern entrance to the canyon. There, at the spring, the party apparently rested through the night, letting the draft animals recuperate from the long and arduous haul across the desert. Come early morning, Thomas and his party renewed their journey, now beginning the passage through Cooke’s Canyon, the Journey of Death. “The stage was set,” said Kühn, “for one of the most desperate fights ever recorded in the annals of frontier warfare.” Probably, just as the coach entered the eastern end of the gorge, the Apaches opened fire, pouring a hailstorm of musket balls and arrows down onto the coach and the travelers, wounding one. Thomas swiftly put his coach in flight, westward, over the trail, with the Apaches in pursuit. Apparently fearing that more Apaches lay in wait ahead, ready to cut off any hope of escape, Thomas decided to turn off the trail, heading southward toward higher ground to take up a defensive position. Under heavy fire from the Apaches, Thomas and his men, now desperate, unhitched the draft animals and drove them down the hill, hoping that the Apaches might abandon the fight and pursue the team, according to Sweeney. That clearly failed. Swiftly, Thomas and his men stripped the coach, taking the Sharps rifles, ammunition, water and provisions. They threw up stone barricades, preparing for a siege. Seven men, one wounded, against many dozens. The Apaches continued their withering attack, but at a price. By one account, said Sweeney, they lost 25 warriors and suffered many wounded—an example of the effectiveness of the Sharps rifle in the hands of brave and experienced frontiersmen. Cochise himself and his eldest son Taza may have been among the injured. Even with their overwhelming numerical advantage, the Apaches – themselves daring fighters by any measure – evidently could not finish off Thomas and his men until sometime the following day, July 22, or maybe even July 23. In revenge for their losses, the Apaches stripped and mutilated the bodies, which were not found until two freighters passed the site several days after the fight. The ferocity of the battle, the freighters said, could be measured by the numerous shell casings littering the ground and the bullet marks covering rocks and trees around the stone barricades. According to Kühn, Cochise –who knew something about courage in battle – said that if he had 25 fighters like Thomas and his men, he would “undertake to whip the whole United States.”
Chris B — Google review
A few wall ruins and a marker are all that remain. Militarily, not the best location. Mountains on 3 sides, easy for Native Americans to watch all the activities at the Fort.
Jim L — Google review
What an amazing and historic place! I just wish that a) there was more information posted about it and b) that the government hadnt decided in its infinite wisdom to let this structure go to ruin.
Martin R — Google review
Was a great site, car was too low to drive so I hiked it. Was about 10 miles round trip.
Dylan Y — Google review
Most interesting once you find it! Do not follow google maps,it will take you to the ranch but not the fort. There is a hand pained arrow. Follow that left road. Do not try to go there unless you have a high clearance vehicle. The road is not maintained and is rutted and lots of larger rocks. Some good signage but not a lot of remains. The cemetery is almost non existent. The Springhouse is intact. The road is so rugged that you need to plan on taking lunch as the drive in and out will take some time. We did enjoy reliving the history and the beautiful area.

If you're in Deming, New Mexico, make sure to stop by the Punjabi Indian Restaurant for a delightful culinary experience. This charming eatery offers both English and Spanish service, making it accessible for a diverse clientele. With outdoor seating available, you can enjoy your meal al fresco while soaking up the local atmosphere.
The highlight of my meal was the Goat Tikka Masala, which was rich, flavorful, and perfectly spiced. The goat was tender and cooked to perfection, absorbing all the deep, aromatic flavors of the sauce. The balance of creaminess and heat in the masala was just right—enough to keep things exciting without overpowering the dish. The roti was fresh and fluffy, perfect for scooping up the delicious sauce, and the side of basmati rice complemented everything beautifully. The service was warm and attentive, and the atmosphere made for a cozy and authentic dining experience. If you’re looking for authentic Indian flavors, especially a well-executed Goat Tikka Masala, this place is a must-visit. I’ll definitely be coming back! Big empty lot for truck parking !

I couldn’t even wait to take a bite before taking the photo! This is delicious Punjabi food with a buffet or to order. One of several in truck stops all over I-10. We were the only white people here (a good sign if you like proper home cooking) and vegetarian and meat dishes were very tasty and chicken fall-apart tender.

Picked up some Tika Masala to go with some nan bread, it was good dinner. Owner was friendly, even offered us a soft drink on the house.

This is the best Indian food I’ve had since I got back from India. And the service is great, they are super nice. Thanks guys! Looking forward to coming back through sometime.

This place is a gem. They serve authentic Indian food. Everything is fresh & hot. There’s a buffet you can partake in or you can place a specific order. I tried the butter chicken with naan. The food was amazing. Will definitely go back if I’m ever in the area again.
Dre ( — Google review
The building could use a little sprucing up, but don't let that scare you off from the food. We stopped in for lunch and were pleasantly surprised. The buffet is not expansive, but everything on there is GOOD (I had seconds and tried everything). The gentleman behind the counter was super nice. We paid about $18 per person.

The food here is very tasty and absolutely delicious, especially the saag with five roti which brings out an authentic Punjabi taste. The atmosphere feels fresh and welcoming, complemented by a friendly and attentive staff. The place is clean, comfortable, and well-maintained. On top of that, the prices are very reasonable, making it a great value overall.

OH MY GOD,!!! What absolutely amazing food I love the indian flavors and after being on the road for a while, I was really starting to crave them I saw the sign and I decided to take a shot and man oh man I tell you I was not disappointed !! Flavors are fresh and clean and vibrant and everything they should be . The naan and roti is to die for . Everybody should absolutely let their guard down and come taste. Good Indian flavors because this is where it’s at. They have a small buffet with all of the usual comfort dishes, and then have a small menu that you can order off of as well I ordered off the menu and the goat biryani was fantastic I also did the buffet which was hot and flavorful and freshly made The place does not look like much but that really doesn’t matter when you taste the food oh my Lord I cannot say enough great job guys keep it up and I will definitely definitely be back when I come through the interstate 10

The Deming Luna Mimbres Museum is a must-visit gem in Deming, New Mexico. Located just three blocks south of the main drag, this museum housed in the old Armory building offers an impressive collection of old pottery, sparkling rocks, pioneer artifacts, toys, dolls, quilts, and dental equipment. Visitors are often surprised by the diverse range of exhibits covering various subjects. The impeccably kept facility and friendly staff make it a delightful stop on any road trip.
A small town museum with a very large collection covering all aspects of local history dating back to before Europeans arrived. This includes a substantial rock collection from all over the country. Restrooms were spotless, and the staff was super friendly. Admission is free, but donations are always appreciated.

This is one great museum and has a little bit of everything. Absolutely spotless and it's laid out wonderful. So many history items to look at, you can easily spend a couple hours here. A must see in Deming New Mexico.

The Deming Luna Mimbres Museum is a true treasure for anyone who appreciates the history and culture of the American Southwest 🏜️. Located in the heart of Deming, this museum offers a deep dive into the region’s past — from the ancient cultures of Native peoples, including the Mimbres, to life on the frontier during colonial times and up through the 1970s 🏛️. A special highlight is the exhibit dedicated to Fort Cody — a key stronghold and protection for settlers during the harsh times of taming these lands ⚔️. Inside, you’ll find unique artifacts ranging from tools and clothing to photographs that tell stories of everyday life from those years 📸. Each exhibit seems to come alive, sharing tales of the resilience and endurance of the people who built their lives on the frontier, overcoming hardships and creating a lasting legacy 🛖. The collection covers a wide array of topics: archaeology, ethnography, early settlement history, and daily life, making the museum a truly vibrant and educational place for anyone wanting to grasp the spirit and character of this corner of America 🇺🇸. The attention to detail in preserving and presenting history is impressive, allowing visitors to literally touch the past ✨. For history lovers wanting to feel the atmosphere of the true Old West, this museum is a real gem 🌵. I highly recommend it to anyone interested not only in major historical events but also in the everyday lives of those who left their mark on this land 🕰️.

A ol timing museum with much to see! As an old armory, it has so much space for all kinds of exhibits! Even a second floor. It's a really great wall though not only Deming's history but American history. I only wish there was more info boards on the history of the Mimbres and their pottery. As a Pueblo Native, I was enjoying seeing these types of exhibits. There's a gift shop and other historical places to see nearby. This is definitely a must stop visit if you're in Deming!

I preface this with my wife is Indigenous. After going through the entire exhibit of the "founders" of the city we came to a room and my wife said, "Ah, look at that. Entire museum dedicated to the rich white people and only a small room dedicated to the original settlers. It was a nice museum. But I agreed with my wife.
Chad B — Google review
This is a big history museum in a small town with a history richer than many large cities. The exhibits are stunningly detailed in their attention to small things. Almost as if presented as a counterpoint to the little things, there are large full-sized vehicles in two or three areas that give us a sense of having been transported back into time. As a history lover, I was blown away. If museums reflect the community where they are based, Deming must be one amazing place.

Highly recommended!! Amazing place to stop by on a road trip!! Incredible exhibition and nice, friendly staff. So much to look at, great place to learn about Mimbres Native Americans’ history and lots of other things. Spent 3+ hours visiting and quite a few bucks at the cute gift shop. The railroad timetable rack was my favorite spot. 这是非常棒的小小博物馆!走过路过请不要错过!

The Marshall Memorial Library is well-known for its welcoming staff and extensive collection of books. Visitors can enjoy a wide variety of literature options, including works by popular authors like Stephen King and Larry McMurtry. Additionally, the library provides reliable computer services, although some individuals may prefer to use their own devices due to occasional technical issues. While printer services may not be available at all times, overall the Marshall Memorial Library offers a pleasant experience for book enthusiasts in Deming.

This library used to be really good I'm not sure if management changed or what but it's not ever clean anymore I found more than one cockroach in the kids toys bin once, the books aren't put back where they belong, when you look it up in the library catalog it says the book is there but it's not where it belongs and you'll find the missing books in random places. There is also always one or two crazy people shouting or running around the library which is a big safety issue. There is never any new books or movies. The hours are bad too. I understand that sometimes money is an issue but it doesn't cost to clean a little and put the books where they belong Something has to change.

However, I won't give up just yet I think I may have interrupted her or something. Thank you all for your service to community.

Please, do not make this mistake! I decided to utilize this library on Dec. 16th to complete a geology study and was met at the door by one of the librarians stating to me that "the city" has required us not to let anyone in unless you were a Deming or Columbus resident. As a New Mexico resident (born and raised) graduated high school in Taos, graduated college (UNM) in Albuquerque, worked and retired from the state for 33 years of service, fully vaccinated and boosted all verifiable, and have been to just about every library in the state, have never heard of such a rule. If the shoe was on the other foot and "the city" decided to use any other library north of here, they would be welcomed.

Amazing place for kids to play. Huge selection of toys and everything is very clean. Perfect place to let the kids out of the car and play for a bit on our long drive. Thanks!
Greg Q — Google review
Very impressed by how well put together this place is. My daughter was visiting with her kids from Dallas, where you can find the big children's museums. Her 3-year-old and 1-year-old had more fun here since it was not crowded. Place is very clean and well kept.
Julie B — Google review
I attended play Sharity for my first time after seeing many awesome photos and posts from them and friends and family! It was an awesome and fun time here! Great for everyone of all ages! The cost is low only kids pay and it’s free for Luna county children or $4 per child outside of the county 😊
Sara — Google review
Was pleasantly surprised. This is a hidden gem for kids. Kids will love this place. The admission is minimal.
Al D — Google review
Great, safe place for the kiddos... lots of little imaginations are exercised here.
Joyce L — Google review
Absolutely sensational setup. A wide variety of activities for kids to both play and be creative, from a Lego station and art center to an indoor play gym and imagination stations (grocery store, ice cream shop, space station and theater). It is clean with a friendly staff and ample parking around the building. Several picnic tables on property. This is a marvelous stop for little ones to break up the monotony of a long road trip.
Bryan S — Google review
Great little place! My son had a blast. If you're not from Deming it costs $4 per person to get in.
Jenny J — Google review
So today my son and I decided to go to Play Sharity because we heard it was open again and we had not been there in a while, so we were super excited because when it first opened it was amazing. We would go whenever we had a chance, but unfortunately this time was just so very disappointing. They had a new area that my son had never played in and he was excited to try it out but he came right out because he said it smelled horrible in there and I was like really, so I went it in and my god did it smell. Next he wanted to write on the wall where you use the brush and water but unfortunately no water in the cups. I would be the first to say maybe all the woks there were busy doing other task but no, they were all at the front desk gossiping and you may say how do you know they were gossiping, well lets just say they do not have inside voices and I honestly got a little angry to see one of the Co-Runs of Play Sharity ( Monica) there engaging with them in the gossip. And people say, how sad Deming can't have anything nice because of the citizens of Deming but they forget to include the people who help run these places. So safe to say we will no longer be going there anymore

Chinese restaurant
Nestled in a charming locale, China Restaurant is an unpretentious gem that boasts vibrant decor and a menu filled with traditional Chinese delights. Diners have raved about the generous portions and affordable lunch specials, often including soup and egg rolls for around $6. While some experiences have varied—ranging from delightful dishes like pork fried rice to occasional mix-ups with orders—the overall consensus leans towards satisfaction.
Stopped through on my way west for the night. Tried the restaurant on a chance it would be good. Wasn't real hopeful because of small the town was. But it was a pleasant surprise. I got pork fried rice, awesome! Large portion as well! Also the Garlic shrimp was excellent. Will definitely stop again!
Danny Y — Google review
Order beef lo mein. The portions are large and served with plastic cutlery and in stryrofoam. Unfortunately, there wasn't a lot of taste. The place can also use a good cleaning. The windows and mirrors were filthy. I guess they're trying...
John E — Google review
We are here hoping it would be better than Chinese food we are finding in Las Cruces. It was good, but not great. The Orange Chicken was not easy to eat, as it was fried too hard. Texture wasn't the best, nor was the flavor. The sweet and sour chicken was good, as was the vegetable lo mein. The fried rice was very good, too. I'm still in search of excellent Chinese food in the Southern New Mexico region.
Julianne — Google review
Ordered food over the weekend and half of the food was either not what I ordered or inedible. I ordered lo mein dish and received something with egg? The orange chicken was literally just chicken skin no meat. I wasted over $20 on those 2 dishes. I have ordered food from them since my last review, and the food is very good. we didn't have any issues with our orders. I thought I should update my review. The people who work there are very nice and polite.
Nikki — Google review
Clean and good service! Food? We'll, it's great! Seems very freshly made for main dishes. One order is enough for me 4 times over! Don't be in a hurry or order ahead. Meals are made to order. There's plenty of seating in the historic building.
CC — Google review
First restaurant my wife and I have eaten at on our first day moving to Deming. I Got the sesame chicken and my wife, the lo mein. Both were cooked fresh to order and had great flavor and texture, the spring rolls were also a 10/10. Was just little hot indoors but wasn't intolerable. 8/10 would here again
Josh S — Google review
Food was good and very reasonably priced. Severall lunch specials for about $6 with large portions and soup and egg roll included. Food quality was good and portions large. The place seemed clean, until I went to the restroom. Restroom was very grungy and has sd one very strange signage and earplugs on the wall. See posted pictures. Still gave it 4 stars for food taste and value.

During a lengthy road journey with limited food options, we grew weary of fast food and stumbled upon Tacos Mirasol, receiving rave reviews. We were thrilled that we decided to stop there! Their enchiladas and quesadillas were exceptional, and their limeade was a must-try. The staff members were incredibly kind and helpful, even when my daughter accidentally spilled her large cup of limeade.
We stopped here on our way to Tucson. Found it on google map and it had good reviews so we decided to check it out, glad we did! The food was fantastic! My husband and I both had the 3 taco plate that came with beans and rice and our boys both got burritos. Homemade fresh warm tortillas, the meat was seasoned well and our beans and rice were delicious. The chips and salsa were good and the salsa had a nice kick. Also try the homemade limeade, it’s worth it!
Cami L — Google review
This place!!! It's a quant little space pumping out authentic Mexican cuisine. I read all the reviews around the area. They had the best reviews and my experience matched the sentiment. It was a great portion size, although they were very economical on the spanish rice, if you are like my husband and always want more rice, just add it as a side dish. We both left stuffed and so happy with the good flavors. It was not overly spicy, but it was full flavored and the hot salsa i ordered brought everything up to a heat level too.
Lylee J — Google review
Happened to stop by this place as we were passing through from a road trip. We were craving Mexican food and its was one of the few places open past 8pm. Glad we did. Food was great and if we pass through again we will stopping here for sure. Parking is behind the building.

Fresh and delicious. We made the split decision to stop here on our way through town and it did not disappoint. The tortillas and horchata were amazing

Last year I was on a road trip and stopped through to fill up on gas and grab a bite to eat at Tacos Mirasol. I have dreamed of these tacos ever since!!! Just drove through again on a road trip and thanks to goggle maps found this magical place once again!! Absolutely fantastic and recommend anyone in the area to stop for a bite to eat. The ladies that work here as lovely as well. Thank you !!!

We travel full-time and have tried tacos all over New Mexico and Arizona. We decided we wanted to come back to Deming partially because of the tacos here. They are the best we have found anywhere. Order the carne asada tacos and some horchata. It is absolutely perfect. The horchata is also the best we’ve found. We plan on coming back a few times before leaving town again, and we will definitely come back when we’re in town again! Original review: Stopped in to get some tacos and horchata. Everything was super delicious, and the food was ready very fast. I’ll definitely be coming back!
Joshua T — Google review
We were just driving through and decided to stop for lunch I got a chicken burrito🌯 the chicken was very plain. The cheese Burger 🍔 was really good the fries not so much. The tacos🌮 were pretty good shells felt a little bit oily but other than that it was all really good. a nice place for a quick bite if you're just driving through and need a spot I recommend here.
Jack D — Google review
Amazing. Made with love. Fresh hand squeezed limonade was very clean, and natural tasting. The same can be said about all the food. Very wholesome, natural food. Closest thing to organic you can get from a restaurant. If you order enchiladas, and you try to sub one chicken for one beef they don't speak English fluently and won't understand because the enchiladas are not like a regular rolled enchiladas, but they are served flat. Just order 1 type to avoid confusion. Highly recommended, and I will definitely stop here the next time I'm traveling though.

Restaurant
Irma's Restaurant is a casual eatery in a strip-mall that specializes in traditional Mexican cuisine such as tacos and burritos. They are known for their flavorful dishes, including green chili pork stew which is rich and aromatic with just the right amount of spice. The pork is tender and the homemade tortillas are a perfect accompaniment. The take-out orders also come with delicious salsa and chips, all made in-house. Customers praise the food as great and the service as excellent.
I ate the burrito plate but I needed to add an egg on top. Great authentic New Mexican food. I live in Albuquerque so I’m no stranger when it comes to Chile real Chile! The flavor just was something else! Words cannot describe! I just felt like I was at home. Great lil restaurant, bring your family or have a date night. If you’re in Deming go to Irma’s. You will not regret it.

Ordered takeout, came very quick. The food was a bit disappointing though. Chicken in my enchilada was just not seasoned at all and tasted like old chicken. The sauce didn’t make up for the lack of taste either. Taquitos were nice and crispy but the beef was very dry and there was not alot in there. Overall wouldn’t recommend.

Irma’s Restaurant in Deming, NM is a true treasure 🌟🌵! From start to finish, everything was an absolute delight 😍. The staff is welcoming and makes you feel like family 🫶, and the food? Out of this world! 🌎✨ The steak 🥩 was juicy and packed with flavor, the chicken 🍗 was tender and perfectly seasoned, and the shrimp 🍤 was fresh, plump, and grilled to perfection. But it didn’t stop there… The queso fundido 🧀🔥 was gooey, cheesy heaven, and the grilled jalapeños and onions 🌶️🧅 added the perfect smoky kick. The avocado slices and lime wedges 🥑🍋 were the ultimate fresh touch, and the authentic charro beans 🫘 were rich, savory, and tasted like true homemade comfort. 💯👏 Every bite had me smiling 😋, and you can taste the love in every dish 💕. Whether you’re a local or just passing through, Irma’s is a must-visit for real flavor, amazing portions, and warm hospitality 🥩🍗🍤🧀🌶️🫘🥑🍋. Can’t wait to come back again soon 🙌🔥! We were passing through back home from our road trip :)

I'm from Las Vegas Nevada, out here for work. And it has been a struggle to find good food. This place was recommended to us and I'm impressed. The service was on point and food was delicious... Give it a shot you won't be disappointed...

First time here, it’s a great Mexican restaurant. The best shrimp cocktail I have had in a long time. It’s very authentic it’s delicious. The menudo, the chiles replenish were so authentic Mexican flavor it was delicious. The green chili sauce they used on the enchiladas it’s so good, the best!! I am definitely coming back here to Deming New Mexico.

Irma’s Restaurant was a little tricky to spot at first, with the trees outside in full leaf partially hiding the sign. Once inside, though, we were welcomed into a no-nonsense, hometown Mexican restaurant serving truly authentic fare. Being so close to the U.S.–Mexico border, we expected the food to be genuine—and it didn’t disappoint. The main dish was the perfect comfort after a long day on the road, flavorful and satisfying. The chips and salsa packed just the right amount of spice to wake us up from our travel fatigue, sharpening the senses with every bite. Next time we pass through Deming, we’ll definitely be stopping at Irma’s again.

The service was great! We will be back if we drive through town again! The chips and salsa were delicious. The salsa was on the spicy side. I ordered the shredded beef burrito smothered in green chili, it had great flavor. It was also a good portion. The rice and beans were a great accompaniment. My husband ordered the Asada burrito he added guacamole and pico de gallo and he said it was really good.

Sandwich shop
If you're on the hunt for a quick, healthy meal, look no further than Subway! This casual counter-serve chain specializes in build-your-own sandwiches and salads, offering plenty of health-conscious options to satisfy your cravings. I recently found myself there after a failed attempt at KFC and was pleasantly surprised by how fresh and tasty my egg, ham, and cheese flatbread sandwich was—definitely a step up from fast food alternatives.
Stopped at KFC bit they don't open until 10:30 am: it was 10:27. I didn't wait. Drove down the street thinking McDonalds was my only choice, but i saw Subway and stopped there. It's healthier and you get more for your money. They open at 8:30 am. It was clean and well kept. I got an egg, ham, and cheese on flatbread.. it was very good and healthier than McDonald's dollar burgers, which are no longer a dollar. The service was good, and the food was fresh and tasty.
Gary S — Google review
We went through the drive through here in Deming and inasmuch as we do like the sandwiches the price of the sandwiches has gone through the roof. The good old days of the “Five- Dollar Foot Long” sandwiches is gone. I think we got two 6” sandwiches, a bag of chips and soft drink and it was over $30+ dollars. At that price these restaurants are going to put themselves out of business. Families can’t afford these prices today as they are struggling. We won’t be back and learned the hard way as we can go elsewhere and get better deals for money spent period.
Mike S — Google review
Ordered delivery: Value meal came without the chips and drink I paid for Extra sandwich was wrong, turkey instead of a club. Tried to call the store, but the phone was answered by a machine that demanded a PIN number to proceed, why would i have a PIN number? App offers no customer service option, leaving me the choice of paying for food I never got, or disputing the charge. thank God Master Card still has some customer service because this place so obviously doesn't. DON'T EAT HERE.

I don’t know what her name was, but she was ridiculously rude for no absolute reason. She talked to my partner very rudely just because she was walking our dogs (who, mind you!!! Had not gone to the bathroom and were really just stretching their legs). She came out yelling about it and thus made us ultimately choose to order food elsewhere. Because there was no need to come out being ugly like that. As someone just passing by this town, that was incredibly disappointing. Aug. 11th, 2025 12:53pm.

We had ordered cookies online for the first time for my daughters baby shower. They were ready when we got there and definitely a hit. Very thankful to have the ability to order online.

Good service, and fast! We needed a quick meal and we were in and out in no time. One made the sandwich the other rung us up and we got our drinks and chips! Thank you!

Quick friendly service, sandwich artists were very attentive and got my order 💯 and made sure I was aware of all the specials and promos

Not thrilled. A new item on me had me wishing I never tried it. Was a waste of my money. Rude employees didn't help when questioned on menu item not looking like its picture. Hope they shape up. Love Subway but disappointed. Maybe it was just the location. Unsure. But will not frequent this location in the future when in the area.
