Nature & Parks
Hiking area
Watkins Glen State Park is a must-visit destination for nature enthusiasts. The park features rocky cliffs, cascading waterfalls, and stunning views from rim trails. Visitors can also enjoy trout fishing in the lakes within the park. Additionally, the area surrounding the park offers a variety of attractions including Watkins Glen International Racetrack, Taughannock Falls, Corning Museum of Glass, wineries, breweries, distilleries, and restaurants.
Such a beautiful hike. Being in a gorge like this is a one of a kind experience. Trails are excellently maintained and marked clearly. Staff at the visitor center were very helpful. The entire thing is under 1.5 miles, so you can explore all the trails and see everything this place has to offer in 1 day. Also seems to have a shuttle maybe just on weekends and it's a very accessible hike/ sights for all ages.
Alex W — Google review
Great views, fall colors at its peak. And no matter when you hike the gorge trail, it’s always wet and muddy so dress appropriately with hiking shoes. We ended up doing the gorge trail 3 times back and forth coz it’s so pretty. And then did the rim trail too taking the Jacob ladder 150-180 steps down to gorge trail again. Visiting here 10 years we felt there is a new construction happening. Infact the start of the gorge trail is blocked and there is a detour on the rim trail to get to the gorge trail currently. Parking lot is $10 day parking, which can be used in any other finger lakes state parks.

I traveled all the way from Canada just to see Watkins Glen State Park, and it was truly worth every mile. Visiting during the fall made it even more magical the vibrant colors of the leaves against the dark stone walls and cascading waterfalls created a scene straight out of a painting. Walking through the Gorge Trail felt peaceful and unreal at the same time. The crisp autumn air, the golden light, and the gentle sound of rushing water made it an experience I’ll never forget. Every corner was picture-perfect, yet no photo could capture how it felt to be there. Watkins Glen in fall is pure perfection calm, colorful, and full of life. I left with a heart full of gratitude and a deep wish to return again.
Talat S — Google review
Start-to-end stunning views and modest trail length on the 1.5 mile Gorge Trail make this a perfect family hike with younger kids. We brought a group of eight with four children under 10 and everyone loved the experience. It took about an hour-and-a-half with plenty of photo and snack breaks. The Gorge Trail is mostly stone and well-maintained. We took the North Rim Trail back and it was a lot less crowded than the popular Gorge Trail. Lots of steps make for a vigorous climb at times, but it was all manageable for our 6-year-old and 7-year-old. The many waterfalls keep everyone motivated to push forward, and the rock walls make for incredible scenery throughout. One of the best hikes I’ve ever taken.
Michael S — Google review
Absolutely beautiful park! The gorge trail is breathtaking with its waterfalls, stone bridges, and scenic views. Easy to hike, well-maintained, and full of great photo spots. One of the trails is closed for renovations. But there are plenty of other trails. It does get wet and muddy, wear good shoes.
Thomas Y — Google review
This place doesn’t disappoint! Beautiful waterfalls/foliage and well-maintained. I would recommend hiking shoes because it does get a bit wet/slippery on some spots. Lots of steps, but still pretty easy. Takes 1-2 hours done leisurely. Many spots to take a breather or to relax and enjoy the scenery. I’d recommend doing early and a day after it rains is best.
Kimmy — Google review
Visited Watkins Glen State Park during peak fall season, and it was one of the most breathtaking experiences I’ve had. The gorge trail is simply magical , waterfalls flowing through layered rock walls, colorful leaves carpeting the paths, and mist rising from the falls made it feel straight out of a postcard. The park was fairly busy, but completely worth it. The trails are well-maintained and easy to follow, though be ready for stairs (lots of them!). Every turn offers another photo-worthy spot. Parking was easy to find near the main entrance, and restrooms and picnic areas were clean. If you can, go early in the morning to beat the crowds and catch the sunlight filtering through the gorge, it’s unforgettable. A must-visit, especially during fall foliage season! 🍂🌊
San D — Google review
Absolutely great views. We went during first week of September, the part of the gorge trail was closed for construction so you need to come back in the same trail and will not be able to complete the loop. Water flow was also kind of less due to late summer but the views were great.

Nestled in the heart of Watkins Glen, the International Motor Racing Research Center is a must-visit for anyone captivated by the thrilling world of car racing. This center serves as a treasure trove of racing history, showcasing an impressive array of memorabilia, artifacts, and photographs that chronicle the evolution of motorsport. Visitors can delve into oral histories and explore records from legendary drivers while marveling at both vintage relics and modern high-performance vehicles.
The museum was really neat with staff that are incredibly knowledgeable and helpful. They had a really awesome 20 minute video on the history of the grand prix that I really liked. I didn't know much about it so it was really cool to learn the basic history in that short period of time.
Kristin K — Google review
I had a fantastic time here today! I’ve always wandered by, but decided to stop in and was treated to a literal museum of sorts. Relics of antiquated beauty to new high octane models, this is a motor racing haven of heaven for race car enthusiasts. The museum was a beautifully tailored what’s what and who’s who of all things in the collective and very comprehensive sport of motor racing. The vibrant enthusiasm for this sport spans countries and cultures and is a perfect opportunity for unity in its most precious element. My host, the very gracious Duke Argetsinger, is a true blue legend in the motor racing world, as was his father. Humble and kind, he walked me through an encyclopedic perspective about racing in our brief time together and there’s still so much surface left to explore in those halcyon days of racing’s golden age to its limelight and spotlighted present. Every era and decade was fitfully represented through a mode of mediums, including but not limited to models, archival footage, video presentations, posters, trophies, hard to find artifacts and yes...incredible race cars in the institute’s main room! This was an absolute one if a kind experience and I look forward to visiting again. A very special highly recommended! Really worth a visit!

Hillick & Hobbs Estate is a winery near Watkins Glen that offers stunning vistas of the lake. The location is easily accessible, just a short 3-minute drive away. It comes highly recommended for those seeking a winery with picturesque lake views. The menu exudes sophistication and primarily features their own Riesling wines, cultivated on-site. They offer two Rieslings and three other wines sourced from various parts of the world, all of which they assist in producing.
Maggie and Lynne are absolutely amazing. They are incredibly knowledgeable about the wines and excellent at sharing its story. On top of this, the view is unbeatable. And the wine is obviously delicious. Visiting Hillick & Hobbs is always a highlight of my trip back to the finger lakes.

Jessica is very knowledgeable and pleasant. I learned a good bit about this exciting new vineyard. The production facility is not on the property nor available to tour.

A unique winery that only does Rieslings, and they’re very good. Paul Hobbs tribute to his parents and the area he grew up before international acclaim for his award winning wines. Looks great inside and out and the last doing the tastings on a busy Tuesday was super friendly and knowledgeable. The views from the east side of Seneca Lake are spectacular. Great addition to the wine trail.
Rick V — Google review
visited the finger lakes and on 10/10/25 we were out and about and GPS wineries near me. Hillick and Hobbs came up and looked nice so we went. Its definitely a newer building and the staff was so nice. We sat outside on top of the valley overlooking the vineyards and Seneca Lake. We did 6 wineries this week and this one had the nicest views. The wine was also very good and the prices were average. Highly recommend going here.
Craig K — Google review
Beautiful vineyards above Seneca Lake, cozy modern wooden barn, great staff! We did tasting of all the Rieslings (didn't end up buying any wine).

Awesome place to taste EXCELLENT wine. Jenny is a SPECTACULAR host and she knows her wine. So many excellent options, don't miss their Cabernet Franc or their Blaufränkisch!! This was our 2nd visit, we will now be regulars!

Winter is here! I can only look back to the Finger Lakes pictures during the Columbus Day weekend. These are the wine tasting room and the slope where the Hillick and Hobbs is located. Absolutely beautiful! The Riesling wines are as phenomenal. Although coming from the same vines, the 2019 & 2020 are different and have different characters. You can tell even from the colors! It’s still a new establishment, only these two wines are offered in the tasting but both are very satisfying!
Lawrence N — Google review
Just recently opened for tastings, and I'm so glad I made the stop! The winemaker has a lot of experience on the West Coast, and it definitely shows in the aesthetics of this location. Gorgeous wooden interior, and amazing views outdoors. Definitely gives a very classy vibe for a glass of wine. Location specializes in rieslings, and they had 2 available for tastings, a 2019 and 2020. Both were amazing. Our hostess Deborah was very welcoming and friendly. Gave a lot of background of both the winery and wines. Along with our tasting we also had a half board of local cheeses and fruits. Absolutely delicious. Definitely recommend adding this on when you visit. I'm very excited to see how this location does. High recommendation to those who want a smaller, more intimate tasting of quality wines, with gorgeous views.

Italian restaurant
Jerlando's Ristorante & Pizza Co. is a family-run establishment that offers a taste of Italy in the heart of Watkins Glen. The restaurant is styled like an Italian piazza, with countryside murals adorning the walls, creating a charming and authentic atmosphere. Situated near Seneca Lake, it provides a breathtaking lakeside view for diners to enjoy while savoring classic Italian dishes and hand-tossed pizzas.
We were recommended by someone staying in a neighboring camp at Cayuga state park and I am glad we tried this place. Serves very much Italian style delicious pizza, pastas, bread and lot of other items. The ambience is warm, pleasant with welcoming staff. You may find 15-20 min wait time which I feel worth the wait. Must check place if you are at Watkins glen.
Aruna S — Google review
Very pleasant experience here at Jerlando’s Ristorante. Wait staff was extremely friendly, sat and served us right away. Our server was very helpful and very consistent with refills, and additional services. The food was absolutely phenomenal. The chicken parmigiana was perfectly cooked and the breading wasn’t too overwhelming. The sauce was fresh and delicious and the pasta was cooked very well. The atmosphere was very warm, contemporary and welcoming. I felt very comfortable and I felt very at ease to dine in. They have a plethora of options for dining and even drinks. Definitely recommend this establishment for the locals, and tourists!
MysticKing16 — Google review
My wife and I have been coming here for the past 7-8 year and it’s become out go-to Italian spot whenever we visit Watkins Glen. Back when we first came with friends, then as a couple dating, later engaged and now married, this place has always been a part of our trips. The food never disappoints. Even with a wait that can stretch close to an hour, it’s always been worth it. The service has been consistently excellent in our experience- friendly, attentive and welcoming. Every meal feels thoughtfully presented and tastes just as good as it looks. My wife is all about their pizzas and garlic knots while I lean toward the pasta dishes and arancini. No matter what we order, it’s clear the kitchen takes pride in their craft. If you’re visiting Watkins Glen, stop in. Whether it’s pizza, pasta or just the warm atmosphere, you won’t regret it. Highly recommend!
Canh V — Google review
Found this old style Italian restaurant after a great hike in Watkins Glen Gorge. Service was great and pleasant. Lots of choices. Veal Marsala was tender and sweet. Chicken Livornese also was liked. Bruschetta was crusty with lots of tomatoes and olive oil. The meals came with garlic bread and salads and fries. Large portions. Wine bottles were reasonably priced and good choices. Tiramisu was one of the best I had.
An P — Google review
Jerlando’s Ristorante was a great find. For a restaurant of its size, the service was impressively fast. We started with garlic knots and mozzarella sticks—the garlic knots were excellent, and the marinara sauce was rich and flavorful. I had the ziti with vodka sauce, which was delicious overall, though I felt it could’ve used just a touch more salt. The real standout for me was the garlic bread—it was so good I ended up ordering another one. Perfectly cooked with great texture, just flawless. The side salad that came with my dish was also a nice surprise, especially with the raspberry vinaigrette. It wasn’t overly acidic, and the fruity note balanced things really well. Overall, I’d highly recommend this place.
Rasen S — Google review
Jerlando’s is a staple in Watkins Glen. My wife and I have been coming to the area for 8 years and we have never eaten here. That changed (finally!) due to a recommendation from our AirBnB owner. We waited about a half hour for a table at 7:30 on a Thursday night. We walked around the store next to it and our buzzer reached us there which was really nice. We ordered immediately and all of our food came out within 30 mins. The cheesy garlic bread was fantastic and probably the best we have ever had. So flavorful without being heavy. My wife ordered the Penne with Vodka and added chicken. I had the Grilled Chicken Cantonese with a baked potato. Hers was good but mine was better. The chicken was expertly cooked and the sauce was soooo good without being heavy or messy. I could have licked the plate if it were socially acceptable but we saved bread for that very reason. We will be Jerlando regulars from now on!
Bill M — Google review
Visited this classic pizzeria on our way through Watkins Glen and was pleasantly surprised! We were seated almost immediately and ordered right away. The 2 pizzas took about 25 minutes to come. Drinks came right away. The waiter was pleasant and kept us mostly informed on the stage of our food. The music was not too loud. Around 12:45, the place was not super busy. This place is better for small parties, not larger groups, though they can accommodate. There is a bar placed centrally in the main dining, but it was not open for lunch. The food itself was amazing. The pizza was hot and crispy. The crust was not too thick. It was crispy on the outside and soft and tender on the inside. We ordered both the Buffalo Chicken and Bacon Chicken Ranch pizzas. They both had great flavor. The buffalo chicken didn’t have too much spice, but was very flavorful. Definitely going to return when I’m back here again!

First of all, don’t trust the recent negative reviews. I was hesitant to try this restaurant because of them. But I also asked a local and they said that the FOOD IS GOOD here and she was right! Plenty of free street parking and a near by free public lot. We arrived around 6:40pm on a weeknight and there was no wait for a table for four. What We Liked & Recommend: 1) Alfredo Fettuccine (sauce tasted fresh, cheesy & house made) 2)Pasta Ala Vodka (fresh and flavorful) 4) NY strip steak (had a nice char and was cooked to perfection) The entrees came with a side salad. We tried toss salad w/ Italian dressing and Cesar salad. Both were fresh. Both dressings were light and didn’t taste oily. For drinks: The Pina Colada Virgin was on the point. Our waiter offered to refill our Fountain drinks which were complementary. Price/Value: The portion for the two pastas mentioned were huge. Good value for the buck. Service: Our server was friendly, attentive and knowledgeable. Drinks and Food came quickly. Ambience: Dim yet comfortable lighting. The walls are painted with an exterior of rustic houses. It feels like you’re eating in a little Italian village. The restaurant has one women’s restroom and one men’s restroom. The restroom was clean and spacious. Would definitely recommend and come back the next time we visit. It is only a few minutes drive from the Walkin Glen State Park.

Seneca Harbor Station is a charming American eatery located in an 1876 train station, offering stunning views of Seneca Lake. The restaurant features a mahogany bar and beach patio, creating a perfect setting for lakeside dining with a nautical flair. Visitors can enjoy panoramic views of the lake and Watkins Glens marina while indulging in a diverse menu that includes seafood, steaks, and regional specialties.
Very friendly service stood out, as well as the outdoor seating with a nice view of Seneca Lake. Lunch was good, as we chose a salad and a burger, which was big and juicy. Menu was extensive with something for everyone, and they also had a large drink menu featuring local wines and beers. A little pricey but expected given the location and in a touristy area.

Service was good and we had a lovely lunch at Seneca Harbor Station. It was a nice mild day and we sat outdoor by the track overlooking the lake. Thai Elephants is a popular restaurant in Watkins Glen, NY, known for serving authentic and flavorful Thai dishes in a family-friendly setting. Customers praise the outstanding food and excellent service at this thriving spot. Thai Elephants is an exceptional, authentic Thai restaurant with incredibly fresh and flavorful cuisine!! We ended up ordering Fresh Summer rolls and Drunken Noodles. Some of the BEST food I’ve ever eaten!!😋 I’m tempted to reorder another entire meal! 😂🤣😂 The fried ice cream was no exception either! A very cool presentation, with equally impressive and complex flavor! YUM!

Ordered takeout from Thai Elephant and tried the drunken noodles and shrimp fried rice. Taste was really good… fresh, flavorful, and well-seasoned. Definitely satisfied on the flavor side. The only downside is the portion size felt a bit small for the price, so it didn’t feel like the best value. Overall though, food quality is solid and I’d still go back for the taste.

We wanted a break from the abundant American cuisine in the area and after hiking all morning through the gorge, we were ready for some Thai food. We came for lunch. I started off with the Larb salad which was fresh and flavorful, spice level is customizable. My partner tried it for the first time and really liked it. It’s light and healthy and I could probably eat this salad every day. We also got the fried tofu appetizer which came with a sweet peanut sauce. My go-to is tofu pad see ew pretty much every Thai place I go and Thai Elephants didn’t disappoint! My partner got the chicken pad see ew. We both left very satisfied, everything came out fresh, and service is efficient and friendly.

This restaurant has the best Thai Food in the area. Seating is cramped for groups greater than 4. We came with 6. We ordered the pineapple fried rice, drunken noodles with chicken and beef, panang and red curry, tom kha (coconut not spicy) soup w shrimp, and calamari. All the food was delicious and the pineapple fried rice stood out as the group favorite. The mano sticky rice was beautifully presented and we were lucky they had the perfect ripe mangos in season. A few comments on the food. The ratio of veggies to curry/meat/rice was off. There were too many veggies included that made it difficult to enjoy the rest of the meal especially for the curries. The restaurant is made for individuals and not family style. We wanted to share the options as a group and has to request extra items multiple times.

This is, without a doubt, the best Thai food I have ever had. Our party of eight thoroughly enjoyed a fantastic meal, sharing numerous delicious appetizers before diving into our individual entrees. My red curry with shrimp was simply outstanding – a true "wow" moment. Beyond the incredible food, the ambience was truly authentic and inviting, and the service was top-notch. Every aspect of our dining experience was exceptional. Highly, highly recommend!

We got two meals, tea, and their sampler app. Everything was great. The entree portions are reasonable but not generous. We felt well filled with the addition of the appetizer though. We would definitely go back

We tried the Thai Basil and Garlic Chicken at Thai Elephant, but unfortunately, it was way too sweet for our taste. Usually, Thai basil dishes come with chili in fish sauce, but they didn’t have that here, which felt a bit off. Half of the basil tasted like syrup, so we couldn’t really eat it. Definitely not what we expected.

Those who gave bad reviews...well...let me take the high road- go in for yourself and check it out. Large portions. Great food. I totally disagree with the negative comments of bad reviewers. We'd never been before and almost didn't go due to the bad comments. Wanted to see for ourselves. We will be back!!! We had ribs and brisket. The brisket is in a high vinegar BBQ sauce, which is the best sauces- ask anyone from down south!

The restaurant is clean and decorated nicely. The service is friendly, accommodating and very professional. The food was okay. I order the BBQ combo with my two side choices being the corn and string beans. The entree was very underwhelming.... I’ve had BBQ in Texas, Memphis, Georgia, Kentucky, New Jersey, Arizona and many other places as a comparison. There was absolutely no smoke flavor whatsoever. I noticed this also when parking as I didn’t smell the usual BBQ pit smell. The pork ribs were very, very sweet and too saucy for my liking. The BBQ beef brisket was not what I was expecting at all. It wasn’t the traditional Texas style slices of beef and was something more like a beef stir-fry dish you would get at a Chinese restaurant which was also smothered in a vinegar sweet sauce. The chicken tasted like plain grilled chicken off the grill (not fall off the bone BBQ) and was lacking any seasoning or smoke flavor. The sides of corn and string beans were nothing special and basically tasted like (I’m sure they were) frozen vegetables just heated up on the stovetop. The garden salad was a generous size and enjoyable though. Not trying to be harsh but give a fair assessment for others visiting the area. If you are a BBQ food junkie then you might want to try something different.

Not impressed. Food was just okay. However the ribs, were close to uneatable, fatty, very little meet, couldn't separate bones. Wings were okay, again one was uneatable not sure even a wing. Perhaps could overlook, but had to wait over an hour for this sub par meal. Nothing on tap only bottles. Won't be going back.

Pretty good brisket, beans, coleslaw and cornbread, probably more like 3.5 rating. Brisket a little overcooked but tasty.

Got take out, but wish I read more reviews before spending my money here. I’ve had BBQ in Atlanta, NJ, NY, TN, and PA, but I have never had such peculiar brisket..... it was honestly more like shaved beef you would get in a Chinese restaurant covered in a sweet mustard sauce. I don’t know how they can call it brisket... it was chewy and hard to cut. The Ribs had a nice flavorful rub (under the sauce) but they were chewy and covered in too much sauce. They seemed to be boiled or baked as they lacked any smoky flavor. The corn bread and coleslaw were the best parts of the whole experience and they were nothing spectacular.

Food was uninspiring. The lack of effort was evident. Service was poor. We were greeted quickly then seated quickly as well as drink order taken quickly… then service seemed to drop off as they got busier. Only 2 wait staff and one seemed more interested in looking at all the orders than, checking on customers. I love good nachos especially at BBQ joints after about 1/2 we received the nachos- what a disappointment. The chips used were the round style - cheapest sort like you’d find at a carnival, ball stadium, etc. it was supposed to have their chili on (no beans) I found such a lack of chili i was going to send it back, they offered a cup to add which I accepted- it helped, but still not worth the $10. Then we waited….. at least another 25 min for the rest of dinner. We ordered everything the nachos and pulled pork dinner together as we were sharing, expecting it all together. Pulled Pork (classic BBQ joint staple) was greasy. Corn bread was ok, but not served w/ butter. My guest barely ate any of it due to quality. On the plus side the, the mashed sweet potatoes were delicious. The beans were very good. The overall lack of effort and service has a lot of room for expansion.

Family and i ran into this little place and left extremely dissatisfied. The food was absolutely disgusting. The beef brisket was soggy and tasteless, the wings were dry and old. The nachos looked like it came out from a week old chip bag. And the chicken looked so old. We did not give anything more then two bites because the way the food looked was atrocious and the bites we did take tasted exactly how it looked. I’m so glad i don’t live in this area with limited food options. It makes me appreciate the amount of delicious food my city has to offer (Jersey city, NJ) If you want to have a bad night out then this is the place for you. Please, if you’re reading this Shut this place down.

Went for dinner on Friday night. Pretty good BBQ, worth travelling to from around the Finger Lakes, given that the BBQ options are limited. The ribs could have been a bit more tender. Baked beans were good. I liked the simple, unpretentious decor and vibe of the place. The check came to $31 for dinner for two with two alcoholic drinks.
