Guaynabo in 5 days

If you only have 5 days to spend in Guaynabo, we’ve narrowed down the top places you should check out to get the best experience of your time here.
Guaynabo offers a mix of suburban comfort and history just minutes from Old San Juan. Visitors can explore the Caparra Archaeological Site, where the first Spanish settlement on the island was founded, and learn more at its small museum. The city also features modern shopping and dining hubs such as San Patricio Plaza and Torrimar, as well as sports venues and local festivals that give a taste of everyday Puerto Rican life. Its central location makes it a convenient base for day trips to San Juan’s historic district, nearby beaches, and other parts of the metro area.
With favorites like El Jibarito, Centro de Bellas Artes de Guaynabo / Fine Arts Center of Guaynabo, and Marisquería Pez Dorado, we’ll make sure you don’t miss out on all the must sees. We even included some of our favorite food spots around the area, like 34 Sur and Avocado so you can get the best taste of Guaynabo while you’re here. To see our full list of food recommendations, check out our best restaurants post. If you're traveling on a budget, you can check out our cheap eats post.

Shopping mall
Shopping
Plaza Las Américas is a modern indoor shopping plaza in San Juan, offering a variety of stores and restaurants for visitors to enjoy. With its arched mezzanines and seasonal decor, the mall provides a perfect setting for some retail therapy or to pick up any forgotten items. While it may not offer traditional Puerto Rican souvenirs, it boasts over three hundred stores including chain outlets, the latest fashion trends, American dining options, movie theaters, and unique shops.
Largest mall in the Carribean! Lots of shops and small food vendors (my favorite part) if you're looking for a leisure day of shopping and souvenir buying this is it! I highly recommend wearing comfortable shoes as the mall has 4 levels I believe with food being on the 3rd floor. Remember where you parked as well!
Kiarylane C — Google review
Plaza Las Américas in San Juan is absolutely stunning and such a unique shopping experience. The mall is huge, bright, and beautifully designed — from the tall ceilings with skylights to the palm trees that give it a tropical yet modern feel. Everything is spotless, well-maintained, and welcoming. What makes it even better is the variety you can find here. There are so many stores, from international brands to local Puerto Rican shops, plus a wide selection of restaurants and cafés where you can relax in between shopping. You can easily spend hours walking around without ever feeling cramped, since the spaces are open and airy. The atmosphere feels both elegant and family-friendly. It’s more than just a mall — it’s really a destination where you can shop, dine, and enjoy a comfortable environment. Every time I visit Puerto Rico, Plaza Las Américas is a stop I never want to miss. It’s not just about shopping, it’s about enjoying the beauty and energy of one of the largest malls in the Caribbean.
Nestor C — Google review
The largest mall in the Caribbean. It is filled with local stores as well as large ones known in the US. Be ready to walk as it is large and beautiful. From Thursday to Sunday, you go to the third floor (by the escalators near the three Columbus ship flags) and enjoy local food. There you can enjoy eating pastries, drink some amazing shakes (local fruits) and by local treats, plants, vegetables, etc. Some kiosks only take cash. There’s also a near by store called “Hecho en PR” the sells everything local - coffee, breakfast stuff and liquor.
Marco P — Google review
The largest shopping mall in the Caribbean for a reason. There you can find a large selection of brands, and eateries for all tastes and budgets. They have plenty of free parking around the mall with several entrances and exits. Valet parking is also available at the Cheesecake Factory entrance. They also have a cinema and even a dealership with full auto service inside. Some of my guilty pleasures I can find here are the chocolate covered strawberries, strawberries with a delicious cream, and the candy apples filled with nostalgia. Those take me back to my childhood. The place is ‘Gustitos Y Mas’ @tusgustitosymas which is right across Charlotte Russe if you are wondering. Are you visiting Puerto Rico? Add this shopping mall to one of your stops.
Joel R — Google review
Beautifully designed mall. There is plenty of indoor parking. Lots of place on all floors to have a quick bite or dinner. There are plenty of stores to shop from or get a piercing or tattoo. The stores are so diverse. Also, there are lots of treats to eat chocolate, ice cream, cookies, and / or coffee shops. It's clean, and there are benches to relax while a friend or significant other shops.
Edwin A — Google review
Crazy big mall with SO many stores and food options. We came here for the Bad Bunny experience and stayed to shop and eat.
Maritza G — Google review
Beautiful mall. 3 - 4 floors of shopping. Lots of parking
Brian L — Google review
The plaza is all in one shopping mall. The food court is quite as big too, a variety of food from Chinese cuisine, pizza, pasta, KFC, wraps and all. These will be on the 3rd floor. Getting a seat after purchasing a meal be it a quick bite or a decent sit down meal. This is also depends on the time of the day but generally the place is busy. School kids are also a part of the people who throng in the plaza during lunch breaks. The shops on the first floor are more on the clothes, lingerie and electrical appliances. A lot of assistance will be required for non Spanish speaking shoppers. Free Wi-fi garnishes the plaza and some will just visit the place to access free internet. The internet is super fast despite the numerous number of users. Right in front of the Plaza one can access cabs that costs $20 one way, the fare doesn’t change even if you are five people using the cab and using the same drop off location. Some of the rides are luxurious rides for real. It was an amazing experience for me to ride a Chev Suburban. Very spacious and super comfy. From the Plaza one can take a 10 minute ride to get to the cruise terminal where these big ships will be docked. A wonder to behold. The cruisers set the town alive with their numbers and activities as time takes no notice of their presence.

Nature & Parks
Parque Luis Muñoz Marín is a popular public park in Puerto Rico, featuring a river, trees, fields, playgrounds, and trails. It also boasts a large water-play area and the most popular children's playground in the country. The park offers landscaped grounds and recreational areas for families to enjoy fun activities under the sun. Visitors can take a short cable-car ride and explore walking, biking, and running paths within the park.
I didn't get to go to the park side, but will visit again, and update my review. I took my son to the Dinosaurs exhibit, and it was absolutely stunning. The Dinosaurs were life size, they moved and roared. The exhibit had a radio station to tune into for the exhibit. We really enjoyed ourselves!
Tania D — Google review
Luis Muñoz Rivera Park is a peaceful escape nestled in the heart of San Juan, Puerto Rico. This park is the perfect spot for a tranquil stroll, away from the hustle and bustle of the city. The lush greenery, towering trees, and vibrant flowers create a serene atmosphere that feels like a breath of fresh air. The fountains and open spaces add to its charm, and the park has a wonderful balance of natural beauty and thoughtful design.. I appreciate the calm environment, and its proximity to historical landmarks making it a convenient stop to explore the area. Luis Muñoz Rivera Park is a gem in San Juan—perfect for unwinding and reconnecting with nature. I would be careful at night wondering through the park alone. Always be cautious at night alone.

So beautiful. And lot of things to do.
Adventure R — Google review
Absolutely nothing to do or see here. Kids might find it fun, but if you're an adult and want to hang out at the park better do it for free anywhere else. We regretted going here.
Alesia S — Google review
I highly recommend visiting this park if you’re looking for a nice stroll, need time to kill or need something to do with a family or children. Beautiful area with nice plants and shrubbery worth exploring.
Andrew B — Google review
So wanted to check out this park after driving by one day and it looked beautiful from the outside. From online they said the price of admission was $2 for a car and then $1 per person but it ended up being $7 for 2 people so prices must have increased. Shame as the park is beautiful and the landscape somewhat maintained (grass and pathways) but as far as the butterfly garden it’s over grown with weeds, the water fountains don’t work anymore, the gondola is long gone and looks like Jurassic Park and the canopy walk is closed with a guard watching it like a national treasure. Shame as this place should be returned to its former glory. Not sure why PR won’t maintain this but I’m sure the corruption in government politics has something to do with where the money went.
Kristoffer K — Google review
Excellent!! I had a wonderful time with my family and friends! The park has different recreative areas, for kids, teens, adults and dogs. It has a small water park for kids, bathroom facilities, bike rentals, fast food and natural ice-pop shops. It also has birthday areas for rent, everything in an affordable price, it's excellent for the whole family!!
Ana L — Google review
Good place for kids, running bicycle, walk, run, play or bring your dog. A little expensive at $7.00 for the parking access and two persons but it will provide you security and well-maintained areas. You can also separate areas for birthday parties or other activities I'll return soon.

34 Sur offers a great dining experience with a bit of a slow start in service, but once the appetizers arrived, the service improved. The drinks, especially the mojito, were delicious although the alcohol content was not very noticeable. The food was tasty and well-presented. Visitors highly recommend trying Maderitas 34 Sur and not forgetting to indulge in the coconut flan. The parrillada is also highly recommended for its great taste.
Great experience. Started a bit slow on service as it seemed like no one knew that we were still waiting to be serviced but once we made the appetizers arrived shortly, service was fast. The drinks were great specially the mojito although the alcohol could not be felt in the drink. Great taste. Food was delicious and presentation was spot on. Definitely recoment 34 Sur.

Very responsive service. The meat very flavorful and the dessert amazing. I recommend this place.
Miguel C — Google review
I only gave two stars because the manager seemed nice at the beginning of the night before disappearing. The food was sub par. The service was terrible. We got there at 8 ordered by 830 and didn't get our food until maybe 1030. It wasn't crazy busy, and to my knowledge no apology was offered for the delay. Our waitress took our drink order and never once asked if anyone wanted a refill and only brought half the drinks for our group within 45 minutes. It was a strange experience because everyone seemed friendly, but the experience was terrible. The Valet brought me the wrong car, and then gave me the keys to the correct car after disagreeing with me until I showed him my rental car receipt. The rental car keys were chewed on by a dog, or maybe run over so I'm hoping i don't get charged when I return the car. I'm sure they are better than this on a regular basis, but they really dropped the ball on this night.
Benjamin M — Google review
Place was overwhelmed with clients. Thus, the service was affected as I assume that like every industry is lacking human resources. When the food arrived after an estimated two hour wait it was cold and the flavor was not up to par. My family was so exhausted that we did not even complain. Asked for the check and left. The acoustic in the place is horrible.
Rafael G — Google review
Wow! The best steakhouse in Puerto Rico. The flavor is off the roof. Everything in our order was perfect. The service was excellent, very friendly. Definitely will be back for more.
Hector D — Google review
Love this place! Great for both ordering Tapas or complete meals. Their "Maderitas" are great for 2, maybe even 3, depending on which you order. The food is very good, the ambiance is quaint and low key, which is great for couples to go. The service is very well manner and very attentive, A on that as well. It gets a bit chilli inside, so bring a sweater if you are easily susceptible to the cold. If there is a large, loud group, it can get a bit annoying.

Nestled in the vibrant heart of Guaynabo, Avocado Cocina Local & Patio Bar is a delightful destination for those craving authentic Spanish and Latin American flavors. This top-notch Argentinian restaurant boasts an inviting atmosphere with various seating options, including a charming open terrace that enhances your dining experience. Known for its exceptional service, Avocado offers a tantalizing array of tapas that perfectly capture the essence of local cuisine.
Avocado is really huge size and great! I liked my vegan food here.
Alla L — Google review
The food was good but the service was terrible. I had to get up and go to the bar to ask for what I needed because they only came to the table to get my order and then to serve it. When I would try to get their attention they would ignore me. On top of that the waiters all had an attitude and added a 22% automatic tip.
Mile N — Google review
The drinks are good, and there's a good variety. We were very happy with the flavor and portion size of our food. I would have given a 5 star rating, but they lose points for a couple of things. First, the wait. We waited a LONG time for our food (over an hour). Though our server was nice and accurate with our orders, he didn't really check in on us. And then, when we asked for a water refill, we were given a bottle of Fiji for 6$ (not what we asked for). When the wait was brought up to the manager, there was no actual acknowledgement or apology. She did come to pour our Fiji bottle, though.
Miguel L — Google review
The food is awesome went with my family. we were a group of 13 everyone ordered steak I ordered a chicken breast. My chicken breast did take quite a bit to get to the table. It came after everybody else’s food. I had to wait while people ate. But when it finally came, it was excellent. It tasted very good. The service was very good as well. We had dessert. Very delicious and appetizers as well. I definitely recommended parking spots are tight and you’re gonna have to park in the street but it’s not hard to get parking they do have valet. .
Cynthia S — Google review
The food, service, and ambiance were very good. However, I went expecting Avocado, based on the menu posted on Google, but I was given the menu from the restaurant adjacent to it—Argento, Argentinian restaurant. This hasn’t been updated on Google, and it really should be.

Although when entering Avocado it didn't seem like a great place to eat because of the simplicity of its decor, I was surprised by the great food!!! To start, "Ceviche de adorado" and "Bolitas de Queso Gouda"!!! They were both delicious!!! Then, a fish with my favorite (Mamposteao)!!!! Ummm, remembering it makes my mouth water!!! Price was good!!! Service was ok, not great, but not bad!!! Will definitely go back to Avocado!!!

Northwest side of town
For day 2, we recommend exploring the northwest side side of town. Start the day off with San Juan National Historic Site, then wind down and take it easy by the time you get to Estadio José "Pepito" Bonano. All together, your day would be filled with about 7 hours of non-stop fun.

Historic Walking Areas
San Juan National Historic Site, established in 1949, is a combination of El Morro and San Cristobal forts operated by the National Park Service. The site played a crucial role in Spanish defense efforts and control of the Caribbean route for over 250 years. Visitors can explore the forts' tunnels, dungeons, ramps, and barracks while learning about their rich history.
Beautiful, historic fort overlooking the harbor. Many areas are in direct sun so use sunscreen if necessary. There are quite a few stairs to the water level. You will have to pay admission but it's good for both forts in a 24 hour period. San Felipe is really close to the old town historic area. Worth a visit if you like history and learning new things about San Juan.

This is a great place to learn about Puerto Rico's 's history and colonial past. There is plenty to see throughout the whole historian site. I will warn that four-wheelter as he could be a little difficult getting around as this building is from the 1500s. Considering this is a story site, you would think that the United States would do a better job at making it a little more accessible. We used to be able to go down to the lower parts but now those are blocked off. You can still reach the top through A ramp. You are in a wheelchair. If you have issues with heat, make sure you bring plenty of water because it's just gets very hot in there really is no air conditioner. Is a great place for pictures, kite flying, I'm just hanging out on the grass. If you are someone who has a national parks pass, you can get into this place for free. If you have a disability you can apply for one on their website.

The fortress is MASSIVE and so well-preserved. You can really imagine what life was like when soldiers were stationed here hundreds of years ago. The views of the ocean are absolutely stunning - bring your camera! I could have spent hours just taking photos from the different levels. There are so many rooms, tunnels and lookout spots to explore. The staff was friendly and they have these little exhibits explaining the history. I had no idea the fort was attacked so many times throughout history! If you're in San Juan, this is absolutely a must-see. Give yourself at least 2 hours to really explore it properly.

It's a special and magical place, because you can enjoy it with your family. The oldest remember their childhood while teaching their children about the island history and how to fly a homemade kite or "chiringa". You can enjoy a sunny and breezy day around the sea! Also, the pets enjoying a funny day with the family.

Just WOW! The history that I was able to experience here was just out of this world. We were able to walk around in all sorts of areas where there were bunkers, jail cells, hidden passageways, and gorgeous 360 views. Afterwards, you can walk the long way around close to the water, but be aware that you must walk all the way around, there are no ways to veer off! Going here is definitely a must do when visiting San Juan! Also be sure to bring your Passport to Your National Parks so you can get your cancellation stamp!!!!

Points of Interest & Landmarks
Castillo San Felipe del Morro, also known as El Morro, is a 16th-century Spanish fortification located on a promontory in Old San Juan. The fort features cannons pointing seaward and boasts an impressive display of military defense with four levels of cannon-bearing batteries rising 140 feet from the sea. Visitors can enjoy breathtaking views of the shore and explore the expansive grassy lawn surrounding the fort.
An Unforgettable Visit to Castillo San Felipe del Morro Visiting El Morro was truly one of the highlights of our trip to Puerto Rico. The moment you arrive, you can feel the history and pride that this fortress represents. Built in the 16th century by the Spanish, the structure stands majestically overlooking the Atlantic Ocean, offering breathtaking views and a deep sense of connection to the island’s past. The site is beautifully maintained — the grounds are clean, the pathways are easy to follow, and the walls and cannons have been wonderfully preserved. The staff members were not only friendly but also incredibly knowledgeable, sharing fascinating facts and stories that helped bring the history of the fort to life. We spent a good amount of time exploring the tunnels, ramps, and lookout points, each one revealing another layer of the fort’s impressive design and purpose. It’s a great spot for both history lovers and families, with plenty of open space for walking and taking photos. Parking was convenient, with a nearby lot just a short walk away. I highly recommend adding Castillo San Felipe del Morro to your list when visiting Old San Juan — it’s more than just a landmark, it’s a journey back in time that leaves you proud and inspired.

An absolute gem in Puerto Rico! 🇵🇷✨ Castillo San Felipe del Morro is pure magic — a stunning mix of history, ocean views, and architecture that leaves you speechless. Every step tells a story, and every view is postcard-worthy. I could’ve stayed there all day soaking in the beauty and energy of this incredible place! 😍🌊 Took my breath away. The views of the ocean and city are unreal — you can truly feel the history in every corner. Standing on those walls with the sea breeze and sound of the waves was such a peaceful, magical moment. A place you can’t miss when visiting Puerto Rico! 🇵🇷✨

Absolutely Divine and Super Fun Experience! Visiting Castillo San Felipe del Morro in San Juan, Puerto Rico, was an absolutely divine and unforgettable experience. From the moment you walk toward the massive fortress, you can feel the weight of history and the pride of Puerto Rico’s past. The thick stone walls, ancient cannons, and winding tunnels tell stories of centuries gone by — and yet the place feels so alive, filled with light, breeze, and joy. The views are breathtaking. Standing at the top of the fortress, looking out at the endless Atlantic Ocean, you truly understand why El Morro is one of Puerto Rico’s most iconic landmarks. The vast green lawn in front of the fort is perfect for relaxing, having a picnic, or flying kites with family and friends — something you’ll see locals and visitors enjoying all day long. Walking through the different levels of the fortress feels like stepping back in time. Every corner offers something unique — stunning views, photo opportunities, and a sense of peace that’s hard to describe. The site is beautifully preserved and very clean, and the park rangers are friendly, knowledgeable, and always willing to share stories about the history of the fort. If you can, visit in the morning or late afternoon to avoid the heat and enjoy the soft ocean breeze. And don’t miss the sunset — the golden light reflecting off the stone walls and the ocean waves creates a magical scene you’ll never forget. Overall, El Morro is an absolute must-see when visiting San Juan. It combines history, natural beauty, and fun in a way that perfectly captures the spirit of Puerto Rico. I left feeling inspired, grateful, and full of energy. Truly a 10/10 experience! 🇵🇷✨ #ElMorro #SanJuan #PuertoRico #OldSanJuan #TravelParadise #HistoricFort #CaribbeanAdventure #IslandVibes #UnforgettableViews #PuertoRicoMagic

From the moment you walk across the big green lawn toward the fort, you get why this place is on postcards and license plates. Inside, it’s a maze of ramps, tunnels, cannons, and lookout towers, all built to guard San Juan from attacks coming in by sea. You can wander through multiple levels, peek out from the garitas, and look back at the city framed by the Atlantic—every turn feels like a new photo angle. What I liked most: • Views for days – panoramic shots of the ocean, city walls, and Old San Juan. You could happily burn half your phone battery just on photos. • History you can feel – clear signage, restored spaces, and enough detail to keep history buffs happy without overwhelming casual visitors. • Space to slow down – you can explore at your own pace instead of being herded in a big tour group. Good to know: • There are lots of stairs, ramps, and uneven stone floors—wear real shoes, not flimsy sandals. • The sun and heat are no joke on the upper levels and open areas. Bring water, a hat, and sunscreen. • Your ticket/pass also covers the other major fort in Old San Juan, which makes it an even better value if you want to make a half-day of it. If you’re visiting Old San Juan and skip El Morro, you’re basically skipping the island’s headline chapter. It’s a must-do—whether you’re into history, photography, or just want to stand somewhere that makes you feel very small in the best way.

This place is massive. If you attempt to walk the entire grounds definitely wear great walking shoes. Additionally you should have sunscreen, water, and snacks as this place took 4 hours to walk the entire property. Watch out for pickpockets as a member of our group was targeted. Overall even with the theft the whole place was a great adventure.

Such an incredible place to visit! A unique piece of OLD history right here in "the New World". A must-see in PR! The sites (the Castillo de San Felipe fort as well as Castillo San Cristobal) are well marked with interesting historical and educational information in Spanish and English. The National Park visitor center was informative. We happened to visit during the Government shutdown Oct. 2025 but the local government and good people of PR made sure to keep the site open to visitors and all of the staff that interacted with was so friendly and helpful. The sites are well kept, and visitors have many options of places to explore (tunnels, rooms, etc). There are clean bathroom facilities at each as well as drinking fountains, but it's still a good idea to bring a water bottle.

My opinion, it was an experience of a lifetime. Being of Puerto Rican decent, it was amazing to see and experience what it was like to be at the fortress. Reading about the fortress and seeing the artifacts was amazing. If in Puerto Rico, I recommend going. I'll be going again on my next trip there.

It's a beautiful fortress. It's sad to hear that so many soldiers died here, but the fort itself feels beautifully constructed, taking advantage of the natural beauty. The $10 admission fee feels a bit steep.

Shopping mall
Plaza Caparra is a must-visit market in San Juan, offering a remarkable shopping experience with its diverse facilities and products. The market is well-organized, making it easy to locate specific items within its spacious layout. Visitors can explore a variety of stores, including a well-stocked Marshalls and Super Max supermarket. While parking may be limited due to increased customer traffic from nearby postal offices, the plaza offers free parking for the first few hours.
Nice place, sometimes it is hard to find a parking spot, but with patience you usually get one haha

9/28/2024 There is a backgate that closed at 7 not the 10+ year old sign that says 6, LOCAL RESIDENTS and older people depend on it. This guard by the last name of Matias closed it at 6:50 and even though I ran to it sweaty he didn't allow me to go in (hand't locked it yet), he then forced to stay to file a "report or he would call the cops on me" and even forced me to put a card on the floor to pretend it was stolen. I have lived here for 35 years (im 35) and I never thought a security guard would be the one to make me feel unsafe. The only thing he said was "tell whoever you want, they love me here, a true "palpatine". He was also obsessed with asking me if i lived in the closed gates (economic toubles?)

This smells good and the store has plenty of customers. So, be aware that most likely there will be a long line to purchase. I was looking for a Tank Kini and they had none. But there's plenty of inventory to look at and the store is well kept.

This Gem of a restaurant is located inside of a strip mall. The food is delicious and the service was great. The atmosphere was quite ,the lighting was perfect and it all came together. Will return and recommend to others.

I went to this Spain food restaurant with high expectation. It is an old restaurant but prices are like a fine dinning restaurant. Service was very attentive. Food was overpriced and I ordered a Salmon filet in orange sauce. The portion doesn't match the price. It was very tiny and the flavor wasn't bad but not why i expected for the price. We ordered appetizers but i wasn't hungry letting space for the main entry. Place need to be updated and portions of food be according to the price.

We went with a reservation on a Saturday night for my mom’s birthday. We were seated quickly and enjoyed the dinner very much. Our server Danny was very helpful and attentive. I had fried rice and veggies with churrasco and scallops. 🤯I will definitely be coming back to try the sushi as well! Looked great.

As always service, ambiance and food were excellent. We could not be at the tepenyaki but what we asked from there was brought to our table! Excellent!!

Excellent tepanyaki experience. Good quality in all meats, seafood, and vegetables. Very capable and courteous servers. At the bar, you'll be pampered by beautiful and very amiable Nabila. Kudos to her!!! I highly recommend this restaurant.!!!

If you're seeking a Chinese restaurant in the area, this is a great option. Though on the expensive side, it offers a fantastic dining experience. The restaurant is spacious, with ample seating, and even has a teppanyaki area. The food was excellent, with the sweet and sour chicken and beef lo mein being particularly delicious. The smoked salmon croquettes were decent, though at $14, I expected more flavor. However, the cocktails were less impressive. The Passion Mule was average, and the Asian Coconut Mojito is better avoided. The staff were very friendly and helpful, and there's plenty of parking available. Credit cards are accepted.

My first time at the place, the food was very good, from the appetizers to the main course. A place with a good atmosphere. Although the waitress was very attentive, the service was a little slow and she had to be reminded on several occasions of things she had forgotten.

Our first stop for food. We loved our experience here. We were seated fast, our server came to get our right away. She was very attentive with our request, (we requested a lot). Our food came out fast and everything tasted decent. But due to the great service, our food tasted great.

We have been here for more than an hour, waiting for the chef and in the meantime the grill is on with an oil smell. I feel as if we are inna sauna. Terrible experience!
Luzmarie F — Google review
I hadn't been here in years and it's still great! This place is spacious and has a vast menu. You have the option of sitting at a regular table or you can be seated in the hibachi area and watch the cook put on a show while cooking your food. I opted for the latter. First with the negative. I got the teriyaki chicken and it was bland. But I do not care because I enjoyed watching him cooking so much. We also ordered the general tso chicken and that was excellent! They don't make it on the hibachi. It's brought to you cooked from the kitchen. I took some of the sauce from the general tso and put it on my teriyaki chicken and it made a huge difference! We didn't like how cramped we felt at the table. I would've preferred more space and elbow room. But like I said... totally worth it because our chef was awesome! It's a nice experience for the family or a date night. Soup and salad were included in our meal. We also had 2 bottles of water and the bill came out to about $50 * EDIT: We made a reservation and they put the wrong time. We were still seated but that was annoying. Our waiter gave a very detailed orientation to one hibachi side but ours felt rushed and he neglected to tell us about other food options. Hence the 4 🌟 and not 5

Tierra Del Fuego is a renowned Argentinian restaurant where many people have celebrated birthdays and enjoyed the best steak they've ever had. One customer even compared it to another steak place and found Tierra Del Fuego's steak so good that it overshadowed his own birthday dinner elsewhere. The food at this restaurant is highly recommended, impressing everyone in the party with its quality.
They price are affordable. They have accessible plenty of parking. The atmosphere is very good especial if you want to talk with yours friends. The service is good and they help you with the selection of wine.

We waited about 20 minutes, then had to ask the server if we could place an order. We placed an order for food and appetizers. Waited a while, then had to ask for the appetizer, and it was brought right away. The guacamole was sour and turning brown. Had to tell the server to let the cook know. The cook put the same guacamole in our food. Overall food took a long time for the number of people that were in the restaurant. It's not the first time I came here, last time was much better. Maybe they changed the cook.

I was told it was a very good place to eat, all I can say it was ok. Steak n bit salty I told the waitress but I decided to wipe off the over salting with my steak knife n a napkin n take it off the hot plate n it became eatable n other serving were also eatable but not like a wow its good I am coming back, all I can say been there done that. To be fair the Chorizo Parrillero with cheese n the mash potatos were very good.

Restaurant
El Jibarito is a long-standing restaurant in Old San Juan, Puerto Rico, known for serving classic regional and Caribbean-style dishes. The restaurant offers a family-friendly ambiance with salsa music playing in the courtyard and simple decor. Despite its casual atmosphere, El Jibarito has earned a reputation for having some of the best mofongo in the area, attracting both locals and tourists.
During our recent visit to this restaurant, we were greeted by a waiting list. The duration of the wait can vary. The ambiance is warm and inviting, with authentic decor. However, parking is limited. The service was exceptional, and the cuisine was extraordinary. Our meal consisted of fried chops, arroz con gandules, garlic shrimp, fried plantains, white rice with beans, and cube steak with onions.
Kendry R — Google review
The staff were amazing and the inside of the restaurant is super fun. The food though was lacking for most of our group (mofongo was the winning meal). Everything was lacking flavor and the salads were just some clumps of lettuce with a tomato chunk with no dressing. No one in our group was happy with the food and we just ate because we were hungry but we didn't bring anything back with us. Steaks were thin, chicken had no flavor, the shrimp were sad, and the rice was so-so. The drinks were good and the restaurant is located in a popular location and was packed on our visit. Maybe their food will work for you but we'd recommend looking around because there are lots of restaurants nearby. Good luck 👍

We had dinner here, and had to wait a bit for the table but we were fine with that. We saw that people who came after us were seated before us though. Once we finally got seated, no one brought us any menus, so that was inconvenient. We had to grab them ourselves from the front. We had the baked filet and baked salmon, the filet was better than the salmon. The green plantain and trifongo were pretty good.

This is the second time I came here during two different visits to Puerto Rico. The food is very authentic and very tasty. The service is also really great. It was very consistent from the first time I came here and the last time. Also if you want authentic Puerto Rican food, this is the place to come to. I got the garlic, chicken and yellow rice, my husband got breaded chicken Tostones, and we ordered a side of garlic sauce, all of which were excellent. You have to try their local beer, Magna. All in all a wonderful experience and a must stop through for lunch or dinner
Bhargavi A — Google review
A friend from Puerto Rico recommended this place, he gave some great advice. He said it reminded him of home cooking. I had to get the Red Snapper at his suggestion. It looked so good I grabbed a bite before thinking about a photo, it was delicious. The spices really made it sensational and it was very moist.
Chuck W — Google review
When I was a kid my mom made cube steaks regularly. Haven’t had one since visiting this restaurant over 50 years later. It was so tasty. The yellow rice was good and even better with garlic sauce on it. My husband had the garlic chicken that he said was great. Sorry no food pics. We were so hungry we forgot. But definitely authentic PR food. Don’t miss this place.
Kathleen A — Google review
Authentic atmosphere and definitely a popular spot, so the long wait made sense. But the food simply didn’t live up to the hype. No offense to the cuisine at all, but the dishes we tried tasted more like fried pastries with a hint of meat rather than actual protein. The fried beef and fried fish had almost no substance and the flavors didn’t come through. I genuinely wasn’t sure there was any fish in the fish (pictured). The cubed meat was also underwhelming, just basic meat sitting in oil. We even asked the table next to us, who had the Christmas plate, and they said they were confused by it as well and wouldn’t recommend it. Overall, the experience left me unsure what the hype is about. Not somewhere I’d return.
Naz M — Google review
It was a little loud. But that was due to the lively nature of the venue. The food was delicious. My brother and I had the Jibarito sandwich. The meat was super tender. They put a buttery garlic drizzle on the tostone top. It was amazing!

Villa Campestre is a delightful amusement park designed especially for children, where parents can join in on the fun without needing to pay for admission unless they wish to ride. While the experience is structured with guided groups moving from one attraction to another, it creates a sense of camaraderie among families. Although some attractions are currently unavailable due to past events, kids still have an absolute blast! The atmosphere at Villa Campestre is welcoming and impeccably clean, making it a hit with visitors of all ages.
Phenomenal experience showing off this place has excellent customer service, such a Welcoming atmosphere, very Clean and organized to my Mexican in-laws. This was a cute kids amusement park. Parents don't need to pay admission unless they want to ride the rides as well. Grownups on kiddie rides was not something I expected. You do not go at your own pace, however. You must sync up with an employee and move attraction to attraction with them and a group of kids / parents. A neat concept, but you don't control your time. Plan a minimum of 2 hours. Still quite a bit is not operational since Maria, but kids had a GREAT time. Everything happens in Spanish.

Easy to get to, very well kept up. It has eight (6) parking spots + handicap one (1) with ramp/access. While there's no furniture (for sitting or eating), there IS ample space to walk around and 4 covered areas with electrical outlets on the main viewing platform. On the lower platform there's a ledge adequate for sitting and eating (if you so choose).

Beautiful view but no chairs or tables to sit down. We went at night so although it was somewhat peaceful, it does seem like a local hangout. Maybe for teens/young people and there was a good bit of smoking and drinking going on. We did see some stray dogs there. I think it’s a cool place to check out, but I wouldn’t lose any sleep over it if you didn’t/dont get to see it. I assume when it’s busier parking fills up fast because there weren’t many spots available and we went at night on a Thursday

Been here multiple times, last night was the first time being there and only about 10 patrons before 5pm. The usual wait staff of 6-7 servers were there but something was off. Took more than 20 minutes for anyone to come to our table to ask for our drinks. Then about 20 minutes later we had to flag someone down to just order food. Once the first glass of wine arrived we had to ask someone for water 3 times. Took the water about an hour to arrive and after asking for another glass of wine 4 times they never brought it. Other patrons were there asking for their wine and food also. We continue trying to support local businesses but if said establishments continue to treat patrons like a nuisance then they are simply on the fast track to failing. After 3 hours there we managed to order and get one glass of wine, one glass of water and a pizza. Definitely unsatisfactory.

Caribbean restaurant
Metropol Restaurant is a casual Caribbean eatery with contemporary decor and a full bar. The restaurant offers large portions of delicious food at good prices, making it a favorite spot in Puerto Rico. Dishes like Kan Kan Chuleta (Pork Chop) and Churasco steak with Chimi sauce are highly recommended, along with appetizers like Bacalitos, Acapurrias, Pastelitos (Empanadas), and cheese balls.
This is my favorite restaurant in Puerto Rico so far. The Kan Kan Chuleta (Pork Chop) was insanely good and huge. My wife and friend had the Churasco steak with Chimi sauce and it was amazing. It was the softest steak I have ever eaten. The rice and beans were on point, the service was phenomenal. The appetizers were amazing. Absolutely amazing. We had the Bacalitos, Acapurrias, Pastelitos (Empanadas) and the cheese balls for the kids on separate visits. The Bacalitos lasted three minutes at the table. My kids ran to eat them before us. We had our appetizers in ten to fifteen minutes and our main meals within ten minutes after. We knew this was a good spot when we noticed there were little to no tourists and mainly locals. We got ripped off big time at Old San Juan. The food in Condado was good, but not great. Especially, the seafood. It was a huge miss at Condado beach and Old San Juan. Absolutely horrible. Barely edible. The food here at Metropol is the standard of what Puerto Rican food is expected to taste like. I highly recommend this spot. Even the locals rant and rave about how good it is.

I usually visit El Metropol about twice a year since I live in Tucson AZ. My favorite dish is Skirt Stake with Aroz Congri. I visited them last Monday and although the service was excellent the Skirt stake was very thin and small. The fried plantains were not fresh apparently they buy them frozen. And after Hurricane Maria they no longer serve hot bread with garlic which was something they were famous for. They more restaurants than before but unfortunately they are loosing their touch. Maybe they changed their meat supplier but it's no excuse.
Dino M — Google review
So I have been to Metropol in Hato Rey and I have visited this location of the same chain. There are many waiters and the take out is very steady. We had the cod croquets hitch were very tasty. We ordered the beefsteak with onions and that did not disappoint. My husband ordered it with white rice and beans, tostones and avocado. I ordered the lasagna with salad and sweet plantains. Their version of lasagna was a very big portion . I could not finish it. However, we only saw the waitress when she took our order and then she disappeared. We really like this chain of restaurant, but we will not return here and continue to visit the one in Hato Rey.
Daria B — Google review
But doesn’t have lucky with the service. Especially if you are alone or don’t drink alcohol you don’t get a nice service since your ticket will be low and the waiter will not expect to much from the tip. I never was asked to get my soda refill or if I needed something, even a napkin.

This restaurant is flawless with the food every time and great service. Good portions, excellent quality of food at good prices. Great wine list. Cold beers, good cocktails and good coffee. Have security at the door. Friendly staff. Good bar area with 3 TVs and high chairs. Tip: if the main saloon is full, ask for a table in the bar area, most of the time have tables available.

It's one of the best octopus salads in PR. You can't go wrong ordering it. The service was quick, and the cocktails hit the stop, nicely done. This is a place I will return to.

El Rancho de Apa

Puerto Rican restaurant
Nestled in the heart of Aguas Buenas, El Rancho de Apa offers a genuine taste of Puerto Rican culture and cuisine. This charming lechonera features cinder block roasting pits where they prepare succulent pork seasoned with a unique blend of spices, including salt, garlic, and adobo. A visit here is essential for anyone wanting to savor traditional dishes like lechon and arroz con gandules—roasted pig served alongside rice and pigeon peas.
Highlight of the trip to Puerto Rico! I learned about this place when I saw Anthony Bourdain visited in the TV show, and it was incredible. Suggestion is to order ahead as the place may run out of food. When you arrive you can specify which parts you enjoy the most. You can also walk around, take pictures of the whole spit-roasted pigs, and enjoy the scenery. It's all about eating here. When I visited, there were only a few other locals eating and no music or parties. They also have a bar with rum and beers for sale.
Lawrence H — Google review
THE Lechon!! Whole hogs expertly roasted over open flame to perfection. The flavor…Unmatched. The crispy skin, so good! A feast of Puerto Rican soul: plantains, blood sausage, rice & beans, breadfruit and of course, Lechon! This iconic culinary powerhouse is run by 2 badass women preserving this tradition. Laid back outdoor dining; a must visit when in PR!!

Anthony Bourdain approved. His picture is even on the wall. Delicious pork, blood sausage, and all the essentials. Awesome mountain stop for the Chinchoreo experience. Simple place with delicious food.

If you’re looking for real, flavorful, authentic puertorrican food, this is THE place. Comida súper rica, mucho sabor, y fresca. Lechón was 100%! Customer service was great. Keep in mind this is not for dine-in. I recommend 100%

Hands down the best Lechon and pasteles on the island, second to my grandmother's. I've been twice and haven't been disappointed. We ordered the Almuerzos con morcillas, guineos, pasteles, Habichuelas con patitas and 2 coca colas. Parking can be a challenge now that the restaurant across the street is open. Come early and reserve your spot.

Was on my food bucket list. Great food and worth the drive up the mountain.

Authentic Puerto Rican food. The Lechon was outstanding. We arrived as they were closing ,but the staff was very accommodating in packaging up our food to go. The cassava and macaroni salads were also very good. Definitely a place worth checking out.

Steak house
Bottles is a unique dining spot in the Guaynabo area of San Juan, offering a combination of a gourmet deli and restaurant. Tucked away from the touristy areas, it's popular among locals for its large portions of delicious food served in a dimly lit dining room that resembles a wine cellar. The restaurant is known for its extensive wine selection from around the world. Visitors can expect friendly service and honest recommendations on portion sizes from staff like Kristal.
This was our second visit to Bottles. I am absolutely positive there will be a third. We arrived at 2:30 PM. This kept us away from the lunch crowd and the dinner crowd. Our late lunch started with a stroll around the restaurant and search of the perfect bottle of wine. It was not very difficult. I was able to locate a beautiful bottle of Amarone 2012. The menu is full of wonderful selections. We chose the crabcakes and the Tuna Tartar tacos as an appetizer. Be warned, the portions are well above average! Unfortunately, our first bottle of wine did not last long. Ha ha our second selection was an equally as beautiful bottle of Rioja. This bottle pretty much drove our main menu selection. We chose the braised beef, ravioli, and veal chops. Once again, both dishes were absolutely delicious.
Javier G — Google review
We met there with a friend who lives in the area. To be honest, I always trust local recommendations. The place is super cool — they have so many bottles as decor, and you actually go pick your own wine while enjoying your meal. The portions are HUGE! Everything is shareable, and one appetizer and one entrée is more than enough for 2–3 people. We’re definitely coming back!
Eevahn M — Google review
Since the latest management change, the steaks haven’t been as good as they were before. Service has progressively gotten worse. I feel it this place has lost its magic. But the new Bottles in Dorado was a disaster for me, very rude staff and manager. I would recommend Mario Pagán and Luisa in Isla Verde and Lala’s and Vinnus in the Mall of San Juan.

Michael was excellent!! The food was divine- absolute excellence!! Can’t wait to come back !!

Best beef carpaccio. Love the new york steak and great selection of wines. I’ve been coming to this restaurant for years, and it never disappoints especially when Sindy takes care of us.

We the had a great lunch, shared the carpaccio and the mussels. Plenty of food for 2. Nice ambience, great air conditioning (no need for a winter jacket!), was quite busy but not noisy. Our waiter Rey was very attentive and did a wonderful job. Will definitely go back.

This place is one of a kind. Was kind of a challenge to find on the uber app but once you find it, its a gem. I came here for the Alaskan king crab based on the pics but there aren’t any on the menu any longer. I had a margarita and the french onion soup and it was absolutely delicious!! I couldn’t finish it because of the large portion. I intended to order the lobster but decided against it as I was too full.
Cierra — Google review
Huge quantity, varied selection, premium quality and decent price. Service was great and we just sat in the casual area in the back. Massive leftovers take care of you the next day or two! Swordfish good, duck good, steaks good, cod fritters good, everything. Bread and butter is even great there. I’m coming right back to load up.

La Marquesa Forest Park is a sprawling 600-acre ecopark offering a variety of activities for visitors. It features a funicular that takes you to an observation tower with stunning views of San Juan and the northern shore. The park boasts hiking trails, an aviary, and a butterfly house, making it an ideal destination for families with children. With multiple playgrounds and affordable dining options, it caters to both kids and adults.
Beautiful place, surrounded by nature. You can instantly feel the temperature lower inside the forest. It is very well organized. It is very affordable. The staff is friendly. They have a great variety of food and beverages in the cantina kitchen. Wish there were more to see at the Butterfly Lab, but the Aviary is impressive. Lots of parrots, flamingos, and some of them are resting on the walkway, so you can take photos pretty up close. The play areas for kids with the gazebos are a great addition. You can bring your own food and snacks and have a picnic there and let the kids burn some energy on the playground. One of the best things is the ride in the Gondolas. It is a nice refreshing ride if you want to rest for a couple of minutes, with an amazing view of the forest and the city. But if heights aren't your thing, the train can take you to all the stops too. The watchtower was closed due to bees or hornets or something like that. But when open, you can see the forest, the mountains and the coast from up there. There is also a man made waterfall along one of the paths. Overall, it is a great place to go with family and spend time in nature walking on the paths, riding the train, the gondola, learning and interacting with birds and nature. It can be all done in half a day.
Coralys R — Google review
La Marquesa, for whatever reason, does not seem to be a popular tourist destination for people visiting PR. It definitely should be however. Only 25 minutes outside of San Juan, La Marquesa should definitely be on your to do list. The views on the mountain are fantastic and the birds are comfortable getting close enough to you for pictures. Highly recommend taking time out of your day to drop by La Marquesa.

Beautiful escape into nature! Parque Forestal La Marquesa is a peaceful, scenic gem in Puerto Rico. The cable car views are stunning, the trails are relaxing, and the butterfly garden is pure magic. Perfect spot to unwind and reconnect with nature. Highly recommend!

Very nice place to spend the day close to nature. Well kept facilities and well organzied. The municipality reopened the place just last February after years of reconstrucction due to Hurricane Maria. We didn' t have the chance to visit all the attractions because we arrived at 2p and they close at 5pm. But the aviary was spectacular and funicular ride great also.
Guillermo Q — Google review
This place took me some years in finding after being to PR many many times. It can get a bit hectic going back to your car to catch a shuttle bus but we enjoyed ourselves. There’s a neat bird aviary as well as a butterfly sanctuary. If you are into enjoying peaceful views this might be a place to visit. If you have little ones there’s several different playgrounds for them to burn energy.

The Museo del Deporte offers a fascinating and engaging experience for visitors. The admission fee for adults is $8. The hall dedicated to baseball houses a wealth of knowledge, while the statue hall showcases impressively lifelike athlete sculptures. For interactive fun, the basketball hall features hoops where visitors can engage in shooting competitions.
Very interesting experience. Price is $8 for adults. The baseball hall has so much information, you could spend a whole hour in there. The statue hall was really cool, the athlete statues look very realistic. The basketball hall was fun and interactive because there were hoops you could shoot, me and my husband made a competition to see who could shoot the most. So fun!

Public university
Nestled in the vibrant Río Piedras neighborhood of San Juan, the University of Puerto Rico at Río Piedras stands as a beacon of higher education since its establishment in 1903. This expansive campus is not only one of the largest in Puerto Rico but also garners recognition on both national and international stages for its academic excellence.
I've died and come back to life a couple of times in this place. This is one of the best if not the best university in the island of Puerto Rico. The education isn't easy but that's not what you're looking for. It's ment to prepare the next generation of well rounded professionals. Inclusiveness and being yourself. That's what it's all about. ¡La iupi es la iupi!
M. T — Google review
It looks better than when I studied here 1978-1980. And that’s in spite of the hurricanes 🌀 that have studied here also. There is a building that was razed to the ground. It never should have been here and I’m glad to see it gone.
Adrián G — Google review
Really neat campus. A bit run down from hurricanes and the Caribbean weather, but the architecture is cool.
Todd T — Google review
Beautiful campus. ..not a student, a tourist came here to buy some tshirts. Worth a visit to see the landscaping.
Dorothy F — Google review
Good campus. I liked the architecture and the restaurants in the surrounding area. However, the restrooms are poorly maintained and are overdue for a cleaning. While I was only passing through the campus to reach a nearby town, the overall experience I had there was okay. Many of the buildings have vibrant colors schemes and it's interesting seeing the day to day life is students within the university.
George Y — Google review
I did my master's degree there and it was a wounderful experience. It is one of the largest campuses in Puerto Rico, and it is recognized nationally and internationally as one of the best universities in Puerto Rico. Their library and online catalog has served me well. They have a large database that is useful for research and it is accesible to the public. I had access to many books, theses and articles. Also they have highly professional educators that come from various schools of thought. The architecture is very beautiful, especially in the tower. They have many recreational and educational spaces, such as the teather, a small museum and the student center. Their many praises also comes with a bit of criticisms. One criticism is their governance, for their decisions sometimes work for the detriment of the student body. Another is their parking space. It needs to be improved. All in all, the University of Puerto Rico in Río Piedras is a great place to be educated, even if it is only to use their library and database.
Manuel R — Google review
My home. This place open the doors for me back in 2016 and sense then I’ve grown into the professional that I am today. I hope that the University of Puerto Rico can last forever because it’s truly the place that gave me EVERYTHING!

Brunch restaurant
My family and I went to Hijole - Cocina Mexicana for brunch on Sunday morning at 10:30am. The restaurant opened at 9:00am and was already half full when we arrived. We were seated right away, and our waitress was friendly and helpful. Although the food took some time to arrive, it wasn't too bad, and it tasted good. The atmosphere was a bit loud but welcoming. Overall, the service was good.

First, brunch is only on Saturday & Sunday. We went on Friday for lunch and there were only a few other people. The staff was friendly and helpful. Piña shot offered as we sat down. Chips and salsa for free. Salsa was okay, chips were good. Ordered the Campechano Chimichanga which was really good. The guacamole and sour cream was $3 extra tho. Also ordered the Al pastor enchiladas. They were covered in way too much sauce and it was runny. Wouldn’t get enchiladas again. Overall the bill was $51 before tip.

We saw this place advertising brunch every day and were intrigued. We came in and we were greeted right away. The food options are endless and the drink menu has every margarita possible. The waiter was so sweet and recommended we try the lime margarita which was so good. I got the huevos rancheros and my wife got the tripleta omelette. The food was fresh and hot. I will definitely recommend this place to anyone that is looking for a great brunch place. Deff 10 out of 10.

Usually a very appealing choice for tacos and everything Mexican food. However our last visit made us very disappointed. The tacos we were served had no salad. It is clear the kitchen staff changed, as the food quality definitely took a hit. We visited a Tuesday night as a group of 6. The service was great as our waitress was very accommodating. It's unfortunate, but we'll have to look for another chain to celebrate our usual taco Tuesday.

The food was good and the ambiance was nice. Service was decent but slow. We sat at our table for over 10 minutes without menus even though our server had taken our drink order. I finally stood up and asked the hostess for menus. I was returning to the table with the menus just as our server returning to take our order. When he realized we didn't have menus, he laughed and said he hadn't noticed we were missing menus. Great. Again, the food was fine. The passion fruit mimosa was wonderful. But the inattentive service - especially since the place was mostly empty - would make me think twice before returning.

Venezuelan restaurant
Papelón con Limón is a Caribbean comfort food spot that pays homage to the beloved flavors of Puerto Rico. The menu offers a wide variety of dishes prepared by a friendly team led by Oscar Martinez, hailing from Venezuela. The cachapas are particularly recommended for their special and distinctive flavor. Visitors praise the authentic taste of Venezuelan food, especially the arepas and pabellon, noting that it's like experiencing true Venezuelan flavors in Puerto Rico.
This place never disappoints papelón con Limón is my go to place to order from on Doordash. Their Arepas Venezolanas are to perfection. My go-to order is the Pabellón with carne mechada, black bans, cheese, and amarillos (sweet fried plantains). They have fantastic Cachapas, and Tequeños as well!
Seric B — Google review
I was excited to find Papelon con Limón, an authentic Venezuelan arepa food truck in Guaynabo, since I haven’t had arepas since visiting Colombia. Arepas are sweet corn cakes filled with meats and cheeses, and these did not disappoint—delicious, filling, and a little greasy due to being fried, but that’s part of the experience. The Tequeños de Pepperoni were an interesting twist on a classic and absolutely delicious. I’ve ordered delivery a few times via DoorDash, and the food has always arrived fresh and hot. If you want to visit in person, there’s plenty of parking nearby, but the truck is in a rough, gravelly lot, so it might not be the best for wheelchairs. Definitely worth checking out for a great Venezuelan food experience!
Travis H — Google review
well where do I start??? I had no idea this food truck existed! I am so happy I found it. The place, the service, the taste was BRUTAL (perhaps they need to improve a little detail with the arepa) but above all, it is excellent! be patient good food takes time, there is parking, tables with umbrellas and many Venezuelan food options to choose from. Lincoln the server was kind and helpful Definitely I will come back
Dulce R — Google review
The arepa is good and so are the tequeños. The prices are fine and there is plenty of seating in a food truck Park setting.

Papelón... I have to say food was ok. Arepas were full. Price is affordable. Service, they need to work on it. 5 people inside the truck an still you had to wait 30 to 40 minutes for the food. No one wants to wait that long. Food trucks are expected to be fast food. Chicha, that is the drink...you can pass. Menu wasn't entirely available 😕. Tip, order ahead.

I'm a sushi fan and these have been one of the best ones that I've tried so far. The steak and plantain combination is so tasty. Service was okay, nothing too friendly. They have no tap water, you have to pay for a bottle. Taking off one star because they don't offer WiFi. Would come back for the tasty food.

Welcoming and friendly. The staff are all bilingual, which is the first time I've seen this! Seating outside, under a unique covering; it's transparent! Daily lunch specials! Upon entering, was greeted by Jeanlee. She is a true professional! Attractive and intelligent. She was my server, for the experience! Very refreshing and relaxing atmosphere. The surround sound music was a variety of smooth classic's. Many different areas to dine, or just relax and enjoy your time. The Sushi is the best on the Island! I decided on sitting outside, but the weather wasn't cooperating. Jeanlee, assisted with my alternate seating arrangement She looks like a Geisha! I will be asking for her upon returning! The Chefs are visible with their craft, at back of the restaurant! The decor has the Oriental flavor. Many cameras were seen, outside and inside, for your protection and privacy; so you can truly relax! It was an all female staff, except the Bartender. The bar, is longest one I've seen! Fully equipped with everything you can think of! House drinks are tasty and refreshing. I ended up dining in an area which was warmer, according to Jeanlee! The temperature was cold! If you like the cold; this restaurant is for you! Many large screen television were seen in statigic locations. The menu is very extensive with fried to raw meats and seafood. I had many samples of different foods and sake; hot or cold! Highly recommend! Will be back, like soon! Children are always welcomed. Handicap parking and entrance with tables to accommodate.☘️🇵🇷

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Ikebana Sushi Bar - Guaynabo 🇵🇷 and it was truly a dining experience to remember. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted by the hostess and the warm inviting atmosphere of the restaurant. The ambiance was serene and elegant, setting the stage for what was to be an exceptional evening. The star of the show, without a doubt, was the sushi. The freshness and quality were unparalleled. Each piece of sushi was a work of art, beautifully presented and bursting with flavor. The chef's skill and attention to detail were evident in every bite, showcasing the true artistry of sushi-making. What truly set this dining experience apart, was the exceptional customer service provided by Marianne and the staff. From the moment we sat down, I was treated with the utmost care and attention. Marianne's knowledge and passion for sushi shone through as she guided us through the menu, making recommendations that perfectly suited our tastes. The rest of the staff was equally attentive, ensuring that our dining experience was nothing short of perfect. Overall, our dinner at Ikebana Sushi was nothing short of exceptional. The combination of exquisite sushi and outstanding customer service made for a truly memorable evening. We left the restaurant feeling satisfied and grateful for the wonderful experience. If you are a sushi lover looking for a top-notch dining experience, look no further than Ikebana Sushi.

Very nice place. The sushi was very good quality and the service was great. They have a robot service which helps pick up dirty dishes. 10/10!

Excellent dining experience! Food: Everything on the menu looked fantastic, but the Dennis roll was our favorite! Most dishes were larger than what we expected. Every item we ordered was fresh and mase to perfection. Drinks: There is a small but quality selection of japanese. For a less expensive option, I highly recommend the ginger flavored lemonade. Service: The service was absolutely wonderful! Our lovely server (Jeanly) was attentive, sweet, and gave really good menu recommendations based on our table's specific preferences and allergies. Atmosphere: The restaurant is absolutely beautiful, very clean, and has a relaxing vibe. It's a great sushi spot. Cost: We spent about $25 per person for a light lunch (no alcohol). We will definitely be visiting again!

Sushi here is good but it is more like a fusion than traditional sushi. The spicy avocado crab salad was good and huge quantity in comparison to other restaurants. Sushi was fresh and tasty. The spicy tuna roll was my least favorite here because it was not spicy at all but the Sidney roll was good. The service here was good, our waiter was efficient and friendly but they took too long to bring our food. In general, Ikebana was good but not as great as other sushi bar restaurants in Puerto Rico.

Tucked away behind Los Cidrines Bakery, La Bodeguita de Manolo is a hidden gem reminiscent of a speakeasy. The limited but satisfying food menu offers delicious options like the perfectly cooked ribeye for two and homemade croquettes, complemented by an impressive selection of wines and liquors. The top-notch service and inviting ambiance make it perfect for special occasions or simply enjoying life.
10/10 no notes. This place is phenomenal! I had the best meal of my entire life here. Every single thing here was touched by Angels! Our waiter, Don, was so knowledgeable and friendly. He makes AMAZING drinks! (Get the spicy Mule, you're welcome) The food was flavored sooooooo well. The chefs here set the precedent for Puerto Rican food and flavors. Everything here is well worth the price. This is what food is supposed to taste like! Fantastic job!!! And it has a speak-easy vibe that makes the ambiance even better. You will love the Mural of the owners father too!

This small, cozy restaurant offers an intimate dining experience with the added charm of a separate wine cellar, perfect for enjoying a glass (or two) with friends. The food was exceptional; every dish was thoughtfully prepared and delicious. The service was equally impressive, with attentive and friendly staff who made the evening even more enjoyable. The space is compact but well organized, ensuring a comfortable atmosphere without feeling crowded. However, due to the limited size, the ambiance can get quite loud when the restaurant is full and everyone is talking at the same time. The wine cellar, while a standout feature with its curated selection and warm vibe, could benefit from being quieter to enhance the experience. However, the high stools in the cellar, while stylish, can become uncomfortable after extended periods. Overall, this is a fantastic spot for a relaxed evening of great food and wine. Highly recommended for small gatherings or an intimate night out!

Inside Sobao panaderia. Intimate setting, great for a date or reunion with a small group. The staff was excellent and the food delicious - we had setas rellanans, patatas bravas, pollo estofado y camarones pizza, and piquillos rellanos. Those plates were all good as tapas to share. Each dish was carefully assembled and delicious. Very solid wine selection with bottles for all budgets - Heineken on draft, music on Thursday nights. This is a place worth trying

Hidden spot inside Sobao, very small space with tables very close to each other, food was mediocre, seems like a great spot for whiskey, and plenty of parking on a Friday lunch. We got the spicy tuna tacos, croquettas, and pork belly bao buns - ngl it's just ok. Vibe is cool tho.

Fun place, great wines and drinks plus friendly service. Live music when I went. The musician was great and played long sets so it was very much fun. People sang along. Didn't eat this time but the food around me looked really good. Will nibble something next time.

What a hidden gem. This place is situated in the back of the Saboa (which is also a good spot). Kind of a Speakeasy. Nice wine and liquor selection. The food menu was limited but it had everything you needed. I ordered the ribeye for two (cooked perfectly), with some croquettes caseras. Paired it with a Barrilito 3. Also, we arrived without a reservation. We were seated quickly, but you might want to call ahead.

Museums
The Museo de Arte Contemporáneo de Puerto Rico (MAC) is housed in a former school building with a Georgian-style architecture. The museum features regional and Latin American contemporary art and boasts an inner courtyard with a suspended glass roof added by architect Otto Reyes Casanova in 2006. During recent hurricanes, the atrium served as a refuge providing essential supplies and charging stations.
A small museum but it has some good exhibitions going on. It seems the curators make effort to create awareness of the history and culture. It reflects the colonial times that intermingled and deepened reality in this island. Although it is only a tiny sample size, it was good to see.
Marchia V — Google review
Rich, private, well kept and organized. Unfortunately the staff is not as thrilled for visitors, but as an introvert that worked out in my favor as I like to take my own pace and time absorbing all the art in. Parking was free and very accommodating. Definitely recommend. The building itself is very nice for photo ops.

Beautiful museum! It’s easy to navigate and very welcoming. The work is very detailed! We got to see the political exhibition surrounding tourism. I loved it and wish more people visiting the island would support the museum and learn something for once. Tickets were $8/person for expats

Not worth it. Useless staff, rude, on the phone all the time and even the room guards were mocking elder visitors. and... don't you dare ask anything to anyone here. Everybody will roll their eyes or become annoyed almost instantly. Worst museum I ever visited. Artwork was ok but not really for the enjoyment of career artists. Hallways smelled like pot, youngsters, specially girls, looked shabby and were making faces after my girlfriend ask questions about the museum. I recommend the Museum of Puerto Rico, not this garbage. The guy on the ticket center was really disrespectful and depression was the main energy of this place. DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY OR TIME!
Kamil N — Google review
A beautiful Museum with a stunning atrium space. I very much appreciate the architecture of this building with its rhythmic arches and contemporary space frame structure that encapsulates the outdoor atrium. This archetype provides a beautiful harmony between old and new which gives the user (us) the ability to appreciate the volume of space being presented. The art inside was both evocative and polarizing. The exhibits today tell stories about fragmentation, temporality, place, and identity. All were very emotional in their own way and I enjoyed the movement through all of the exhibits. I would recommend this place to anyone visiting and PR on a rainy or sunny day. Very inexpensive as well - $5 a pop per person.

Nestled in the heart of the city, Restaurante Ariel is a culinary gem helmed by the esteemed chef Ariel Rodriguez. This fine-dining establishment exudes an elegant, old-world charm that attracts local elites and food enthusiasts alike. The menu showcases a delightful blend of international flavors with a strong emphasis on French cuisine, all while incorporating fresh local produce and modern American influences.
Exceptional Service and Exquisite Dining at Restaurante Ariel Restaurante Ariel provided an unforgettable dining experience! From the moment we walked in, the service was impeccable—friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable. We started with the house salad, which was fresh and beautifully presented, followed by the Escargots à la Bourguignonne. Both dishes were delicious and set the tone for the rest of the meal. For the main course, we enjoyed the potato-crusted salmon, ribeye, and beef Wellington. Each dish was cooked to perfection, with exquisite flavors that truly stood out. The beef Wellington, in particular, was a highlight, with its tender, juicy beef encased in a perfectly crispy pastry. The entire experience was a perfect blend of fine dining and warm hospitality. I highly recommend Restaurante Ariel for anyone looking to indulge in exceptional cuisine and top-notch service!

For the premium pricing this restaurant summons, the expectation is one of mind blowing food and impeccable service. This was absolutely not. Underwhelming from the get go. The hostess had no interest in greeting me nor walking me to the table my party was sitting. With only a handful of tables to serve, the waiter and the maitre d had no merriment whatsoever. They seemed to bear the sentiments of the hostess; all of them were having a bad night, didn't want to be there, or both. The atmosphere of the restaurant is neutral. Very white. Very bland. The bread and butter were excellent. However, at this level of dining, with white linens and all, a table crumber is compulsory between courses. The food was below standards. Ham croquettes were cold on the inside and very oily. Mixed fish croquettes had huge pieces of shell in the mixture. Couldn't finish either of them. The server who removed my plate full of half eaten croquettes asked twice if I was done [before removing my plate] but didn't bother to ask if there was any dissatisfaction. No interest whatsoever. Ordered the potato crusted salmon, the potato crust was not available. No substitute available. Did not bring extra vegetables on the side. It was paid at full price, of course. Disappointing to say the least. Desserts were ok. Wine list is overpriced. We had to remind the server for our drinks on three separate occasions; that ended up in our bill with three extra $22 drinks. Our friend who paid the bill wasn't keeping track of our drinks by any means. And had he not made a comment about it the next day, we would have never figured out we were cheated and he was overcharged. This was just a well rounded culinary disappointment, not a high-value dinner experience. AT ALL. Exceptional restaurants are remembered because of their attention to details. The service was awful and the amateur mistakes in the food further evidence this establishment has lots of learning to do before calling themselves legendary.

Very impressive restaurant.Food was fantastic, great service. Place looks very posh. I entered there was no host table at the entrance, waiting for her to notice me. Bar is to the right, very elegant. Very quiet even though there was a group party near. Service is slow, but worth the wait.

The best meal we had while visiting PR. From the service to the food, everything was perfect. We tried almost al the appetizers and they all tasted delicious, specially the rabbit fettuccini and the Octopus. Main dishes had very generous portions and the meats where savory and tender. Kids also enjoyed the “kids meal” made in house, fresh chicken tenders and sirloins fillets. Miguel, who works oh the house for over 10 years was very attentive and professional. Can’t wait to be back.

Food and service were stellar. Our large party seemed to have overwhelmed the kitchen and our dinner took 4 hours...but we were there to socialize so it worked out well. Beef Wellington, foie gras, and truffle mac and cheese were impressive. Look forward to our return.

I was given a 10% which is ridiculous because my managers did not eat and we went else where. I will be calling my credit card company to refute the bill I can be reached at 787.447.7745

Was buying a honey that cost $10 and when I went to pay it said it was $20 I told the cashier that I read that it was $10. She went and looked and said it was a error on there part. I asked if there is a error on there part would the honey be the price that they advertise. And she said no. I didn't think at the moment but I should have talk to the manager instead. They didn't honer the price that they advertise. They quickly change the price. I just got scammed. They just lost a costumer. If you buy here take pictures of the prices and talk to manager if your in a situation like mine. There's laws against this.

The only reason I am giving this review four stars instead of five is because the downstairs mart is very expensive ($7 for gluten free loaf as opposed to maybe $5 in the States), and the upstairs cafe service time can be a little slow (but that’s because everything is made to-order). Besides those notes, the food is very tasty given the price tags (surprisingly low!). A meal for me and my wife was about $15 to share delicious oatmeal, have a scramble sandwich for her, and gluten free pancakes for me. They have fruit and nutella options to top the pancakes and french bread, and they have multi-grain and sourdough options for the sandwich type bread and french bread. They also have pizzas, smoothies, and salads—but I didn’t try any of them. Love this place, and I will be back if I come to San Juan again!

New American restaurant
Orujo, Taller de Gastronomía is a unique and experimental culinary concept that reimagines Puerto Rican cuisine with an elegant touch. Located in Caguas, about 30 minutes from San Juan, this restaurant offers a tasting menu of 7 to 20 dishes that showcase modern and classic Caribbean flavors. The funky decor creates a relaxed and inviting atmosphere for diners to enjoy the outstanding dining experience.
Thank you all for providing the most incredible dinner experience of my life! It was a true honor to witness your craftsmanship. We were all absolutely thrilled with everything. Chef, you are an extraordinary talent and a rare gem. Celebrating my 40th birthday amidst your blessings will be forever etched in my memory and heart. You are genuinely a blessing to behold. Orujo is the beautiful life project of Chef Carlos Portela, a place to relax and just go with the flow. The food is well thought out and delicious. The wines are amazing as well. One of my fav places on the island. You can taste the love and hard work. Gracias Familia!
Chef G — Google review
A Masterclass in Modern Puerto Rican Cuisine I had the honor of staging at Orujo while visiting San Juan, and the experience was nothing short of transformative. As a working chef, I’ve seen my share of kitchens — but what Chef Carlos Portela and his team have built at Orujo is on another level. Focused, precise, and deeply rooted in Puerto Rican identity with a modern, progressive lens. Technique is respected. Ingredients are allowed to speak. Chef Carlos needs no introduction — he might not even be from this planet. There’s a kind of interstellar clarity to the way he moves, teaches, and creates. Chef Tony brings the heartbeat of high-volume mastery to the team. Whether it’s a 25-course tasting or 200 covers across four seatings, his timing and command never waver. Tony is a philosopher in the kitchen — his calm presence, thoughtful observation, and sense of balance make him someone I’d follow without hesitation. It was an honor to work beside him. Chef Sebastian, both a culinary student and a fisherman, carries himself with a level of intent that’s rare even in seasoned kitchens. Every move he makes shows purpose, curiosity, and respect for the craft. Watching him work gives me genuine hope for the next generation of chefs — focused, grounded, and already thinking beyond the plate. Chef Danny, an Army brat of Puerto Rican descent born in Germany, brings a unique global lens to the kitchen. Equal parts culinary scientist and sommelier, he moves seamlessly between technique, theory, and terroir. His generosity and curiosity made the kitchen feel instantly welcoming. A sharp mind and loving spirit. Chef Karen is, without question, the kind of chef every kitchen needs and few are lucky enough to have. Holding down garde manger with absolute precision, plating with an artist’s restraint, and quietly commanding the room with her presence alone — she’s as sharp as she is grounded. With a master’s in Human Resources and the soul of a pastry chef, there’s quite literally nothing she can’t do. Her desserts? Worth flying to Puerto Rico for — full stop. Her balance of flavor and form is otherworldly. She carries grace like a blade — quietly, beautifully, and without apology. Bien ah provecho, my friends. Until next time. Carlos J Executive Chef Stagiaire, June 2025

This is a must if you are a true foodie. A comprehensive tasting menu taking you through a journey of PR’s taste and local ingredients without seeming pedestrian. Chef Portela mixes sweet and savory in a balanced way all while adding depth and complexity to his dishes. It is no wonder chef is James Beard finalist and only a matter of time until the honor is bestowed.
Frank R — Google review
Orujo, offers an unique sensorial journey that is meant for everyone to enjoy. Chef Portela’s rotating, seasonally-inspired plates—from the most simple to the most complex dish—encourage wellbeing: of our bodies, minds, and soul. Nature, art, the lyrical essence of our island, the aromas, and our colorful, intense Caribbean heritage are all imbued into every element of our cuisine. We proffer an escape through a festive, gastronomic journey that reinterprets Puerto Rican cuisine through a bold new narrative of fortitude, tenacity, and, of course, taste.

I visited by myself for a treat on a solo trip, and it was a highlight on an overall fantastic vacation. Every moment of this meal was incredible. The atmosphere feels like your coolest friend's living room, making wait time for dishes more like a chill invitation to explore the space, chat with other diners, read a book from the staff's personal library, etc. The food/wine and dining experience was unforgettable – certainly one of the top in my life. This team is so talented. The service was exceptional. The staff were beyond welcoming, and I loved the spontaneous conversations that happened with other guests. I also learned so much about the locally-sourced ingredients. Carve out 4-5 hours for a meal here, and dream about it for the rest of forever. Am I being hyperbolic? No.
Ali M — Google review
One of the most incredible dining experiences I have ever had. The entire menu is 23 courses so do plan ahead that dinner might last the entire evening. However, every dish that came out of the kitchen was absolutely delicious and was also so thoughtful. There are no servers at the restaurant. Instead, the chefs and sous chefs themselves bring you the food which makes for a much more intimate dining experience. Although the menu itself has the quality of a three Michelin star restaurant, the surroundings feel more humble and cozy. The kitchen is small and diners are invited to visit and chat with the chefs throughout the meal. Would give this six stars if I could.
Emily M — Google review
This was such a fun dining experience! The space is small and intimate, and you get to chat with the chefs as they bring out each course. It’s fine dining but with a relaxed atmosphere. It’s like hanging out at a friend’s place who happens to be an amazing chef and wants you to try all their latest dishes. The menu is always changing so we will definitely be back next time we are in San Juan!

Crush Juice Bar is a popular spot known for its delicious acai bowls and an amazing selection of smoothies and juices. While some find the portion size small for the price, others rave about the divine taste of their acai bowls, especially the peanut butter variety. The turmeric smoothie is also highly recommended. Although some feel that prices are high compared to other places, many agree that Crush Juice Bar offers top-notch quality in their offerings.
Great spot ! Acai bowl was amazing! Very cool inside if you need to get away from the heat ! Great staff, fluent in English and Spanish!

This place is hands down the best spot for açaí bowls! The ingredients are fresh, portions are generous, and everything is beautifully put together. What really sets them apart, though, is the atmosphere. The staff are welcoming, and they make it easy for both English and Spanish speakers to feel comfortable. It’s clear they care about their community and their customers. Highly recommend if you’re looking for great flavor and friendly service!

Delicious! We ordered two drinks- celebrity crush and pink crush. They were awesome and really hit the spot especially after walking on a hot day. My only complaint was how the workers ignored the customers. I observed customers thanking them when leaving but they were ignored because the workers were too busy gossiping.

I visited twice while on vacation and the mango smoothie was so good I got it both times. My boyfriend ordered some type of peanut butter banana smoothie and an acai bowl and both were delicious. The workers weren't super friendly or patient but I can't hold it against them nor did it stop me from going back.

Absolutely delicious smoothie! I ordered the pink crush and it was just what I needed with the humid weather outside. The air-conditioning was also very welcome. The juice was around $7.

Great for those HOT Days! I have only had a smoothie / frappe a couple of times and I guess it deals with location at the time. Well this was the perfect location it was Hot out it was across the street from the hotel and we just go back from walking around. So my wife got us a "Mango Berry Blitz frappe". My wife knows I like Mango and they grow here on the island so why not. It was pretty good and was the right thing at the moment.

This is the place to go for smoothies in Condado. The smoothies are delicious and the smoothie bowls are massive (16 oz). The prices are so reasonable for the quantity and quality you get. Staff is friendly too!

My favorite place to go to after I take a walk on ashford. I really like the açaí bowl with Nutella but this time I decided to get the turmeric smoothie. It was really good did not care for the red toppings they put on it. Not sure what they are called but I didn’t really like it but the smoothie was great. Will definitely get again but ask for a different topping.
