With favorites like Snack Fit Me, Centro Comercial Villa Country, and Narcobollo Barranquilla, we’ll make sure you don’t miss out on all the must sees. We even included some of our favorite food spots around the area, like Pizza Lela Buenavista by Nena Lela and Salvator’s Pizza & Pasta so you can get the best taste of Barranquilla while you’re here. Shopping
Viva Shopping Mall is a contemporary retail complex featuring both high-end and popular stores, a cinema, a gym, and an eating area. One notable shoe shop called Bon Bonite can be found on the second level of the mall. This favorite footwear store offers fashionable leather shoes in various styles. They have recently showcased black clogs adorned with gold embroidery along with a leather belt. The prices at Bon Bonite are reasonable too.
I visited Viva Shopping Mall to stock up while traveling through Colombia for a pair of hiking shoes, socks, sun block, toothpaste, atm, lunch and dinner. They had everything I needed and more! There is a Smart Fit gym, movie theatre, Exito, Decathalon, Dollarcity, clothing stores, arcade games and more! On the top floor they have some fancy looking restaurants. There is a huge play area for kids on the main floor. I will definitely come back to this mall when I'm in Baranquilla. Please follow @bouncingplaces on YOUTUBE as It helps support the channel so I can continue sharing amazing places like this to eat and fun adventures as I travel the world full time 🌎 🙏 See you in the next one! Keep on Bouncing Baby 😎❤️👍💯

No place to sit for free if you don't want to go to a cafe or food place. No public benches for the elderly or anyone that just wants to sit for even 5 minutes. You can go to just about any mall and find the same stores but if you go to this one don't expect to have the courtesy of a place to sit like most other malls.
Joe F — Google review
Viva is the largest and most complete shopping mall in Barranquilla and could give any mall in the United States a run for its money. It spans a vast area and features a unique layout where the top floor combines a food court with full-scale restaurants. The mall even houses a medical clinic, a large grocery store and a casino! Their bathrooms are super clean and put the ones in the malls back home to shame. I enjoyed shopping there so much during the early part of my trip that I returned a second time before flying home. During my visits, I bought soccer jerseys from the Adidas store, drank strong coffee at Juan Valdez, and had a Subway sandwich in the food court that tasted just like the one I get back home. If you appreciate plenty of shopping and dining options, along with reliable air conditioning, Viva is a must-see destination in Barranquilla.
Roman — Google review
This shopping mall has everything you are looking for from a pharmacy to a movie theatre and even a casino! The cleanliness seems to be very important here as the staff maintain this place pretty well. 5 stories tall, there's definitely a variety when it comes to the stores.
Matthew S — Google review
The place is excellent for its collection of restaurants that are very unique to the region and the place. The shops are very good and offer a variety too. My only complaint was that the place had an advertisement for a samsung store that never existed in the mall. Otherwise a very good place to spend an evening.
Vivek J — Google review
Had come here for emergency shopping. Has Starbucks, Apple Store, Adidas, New Balance, Juan Valdez and Leonissa. Those were the few shops I saw and shopped. Would definitely come back if we didn’t feel rush since it looked like it was going to rain hard.
S C — Google review
Good mall with tons of food and shopping options. Very well kept and festive.

Good shopping center to hang out, but the food court could be improved with cleaning, there are times when they don't even serve you.

Shopping mall
Centro Comercial Buenavista, a high-end shopping mall in Barranquilla, Colombia, is a popular attraction for locals and tourists. Situated in the city center, this modern complex offers a variety of activities, including shopping at its numerous international stores and enjoying a meal at its spacious dining areas. Visitors can also watch the latest movies in state-of-the-art theaters equipped with advanced 3D and 4D technology.
I visited Barranquilla in December 2024 … and this shopping mall was one of the highlights of my visit. I was surprised that it is three Malls attached to each other. Almost everything that you want, you can find in these Malls. I loved the Christmas decorations especially in the first Mall on the first floor. I also enjoyed coffee at Cafe Quindio. Food in the food courts was yummy as well … couple of food outlets have numbering wooden hands that they put at your table so that they can serve food to your table. These Malls are a must to visit when you are in Barranquilla.
Bashar D — Google review
When I first visited Buenavista Mall in 2004, it was the only North American style shopping center in Barranquilla. By U.S. standards, it was rather small, and it sat in a suburban area just outside the city. Twenty-one years later, I returned and was surprised to find the surrounding rural landscape absorbed into the city sprawl. The mall itself now consists of at least three separate buildings connected by elevated pedestrian walkways. At first, I could not tell which building was the original. The complex is very clean and offers everything you would find in a large U.S. mall. Although Viva Mall, which did not exist in 2004, has become the city’s flagship shopping destination, Buenavista has modernized successfully and remains relevant as Barranquilla grows and welcomes more international visitors. I enjoyed spending time there on my recent trip and reliving memories from my first visit. I will be sure to return the next time I am in town.
Roman — Google review
Really like this mall. The food court on the top floor is amazing with so many good options, it's difficult to choose. Lots of good stores as well as banks and ATM's. Home Sentry and Carrula are there as well for added convenience. Nice Christmas displays and Carnaval displays.
Eric G — Google review
Incredible place. Has a lot of stores and you can find anything you need
Nelson B — Google review
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Mallplaza Barranquilla is one of the most modern and complete shopping destinations in the city. The design is sleek, spacious, and filled with natural light, creating a very comfortable and enjoyable atmosphere. It offers an excellent mix of stores, from international fashion brands to local boutiques, along with electronics, home goods, and entertainment options. The dining area is impressive, with plenty of restaurants and cafés to suit every taste. Parking is convenient and well-organized, and the entire mall feels clean and safe. It’s not just a place to shop, but also to spend time with family or friends. Definitely a 5-star shopping experience in Barranquilla.
Ricardo S — Google review
It is an ideal place to spend a day visiting its very American-style stores with many national and foreign brands, its spacious dining places or also going to a movie in its theaters that have rooms with the best of the latest technology 3D and 4D systems. or simply go to the supermarket for your groceries from home

Narcobollo Barranquilla is a delightful restaurant in the city, perfect for family lunches or special celebrations. The restaurant offers a relaxed ambiance and excellent service, making it a favorite among locals. Visitors can indulge in the essence of Barranquilla's culinary delights with amazing and authentic local cuisine. The buffet features mouthwatering BBQ ribs, fragrant white rice, and crisp salads that exude freshness.
I was really impressed with the variety of both local and national dishes available—all at very reasonable local prices. Every dish I tried was delicious and clearly made with care. The seating options were also a big plus. You can choose to sit indoors or outdoors, and both settings offer a relaxed environment where you can easily enjoy a conversation while soaking in the local atmosphere of Barranquilla. Highly recommend for anyone looking to enjoy authentic flavors in a welcoming setting!

Very popular restaurant. Service was fast taking into account it was busy. Food is ok, nothing crazy but it's definitely a place where you can find different kind of traditional food. Zapote juice was the best.

Food was tasty, the service was very good which is a bit rare nowdays in the city, place gets crowded even on weekdays so be patient. Overall a good experience.

First time in Barranquilla and this place the food was amazing. The staff was very attentive and the amount of food they give you is just right. It was super busy but fast we were in line for about 1 minutes. I have never had the sancocho colombiano the flavors were outstanding, I also tried the chicharrón and OMG. The deditos I couldn’t stop eating them lol. My next time in Colombia I will definitely come back.
Suleika A — Google review
Been wanting to come here but was told, don’t even think about coming during the weekend.. super crowded. So we went end of breakfast and almost start of lunch. Perfect time. I ordered arroz con pollo, arepa con huevo, y deditos con queso. There was more but couldn’t remember. The arepa con huevo was delicious and my arroz con pollo was super tasty. I would definitely come back..
S C — Google review
Food is amazing here -so tasty and authentic, huge portions and great selection. So it's a must visit. There is a big BUT during lunch hours the queue is insane, I waited more than 1hr to get to counter, unfortunately the staff works very slow and disorganised. I would order more in case service would be faster, but I didn't want to queue again. Hopefully it was because of carnival times.
Olga S — Google review
You walk in and make a line to choose what you want to eat. It is loud. The food isn’t my favorite and find there are better Colombian traditional options near by that are superior. I had the empanada and couldn’t take a second bite. However the fresh carrot juice takes a 5/5. We went for oxtail and they were out. We asked for a second dish and they were out. It is a very busy very loud restaurant experience.

Parque Sagrado Corazón is a serene and lush green park in Barranquilla that offers various amenities for its visitors to enjoy. The park features tennis courts, gym equipment, and a playground, making it an ideal destination for both exercise enthusiasts and families with children. It is also a popular spot for jogging and picnics, providing ample opportunities to connect with nature.

Parque Sagrado Corazón in Barranquilla is a vibrant hub of culture and celebration, especially during the city’s famous Carnaval. My visit during this festive season was nothing short of magical. The park, with its lush greenery and serene atmosphere, transforms into a lively stage for live folk bands, showcasing the rich musical heritage of Colombia’s Caribbean coast. The energy was electric as traditional cumbia, vallenato, and porro rhythms filled the air, drawing locals and tourists alike into spontaneous dances and joyful sing-alongs. What made the experience unforgettable was the authenticity of the performances. The bands played from the traditional repertory, their music echoing the soul of Barranquilla’s Carnaval. The vibrant costumes, the rhythmic clapping, and the infectious smiles of the performers created an atmosphere of pure joy. I found myself swept up in the celebration, dancing alongside strangers who quickly felt like friends. The park’s setting added to the charm, with its shaded areas providing a respite from the tropical heat while still allowing full immersion in the festivities. Parque Sagrado Corazón during Carnaval is a must-visit for anyone seeking to experience the heart and soul of Barranquilla’s culture. It was a day of music, laughter, and unforgettable memories.

Only gets a 4 stars due to the fact the municipality installed a few exercise equipment ignoring the number of people visiting the park on a daily basis(morning time) some individuals think they literally "own" the equipment and will not let you use it while they are resting and will frown upon you if show intentions to use it As far as maintenance goes the former mayor's office put their 5 cents in it plants get watered daily garbage picked up walking path are well lid for the early and late jogger/ walker Right on Barranquilla!!!! Keep Moving forward

It's relatively the best park in town. Being at an elevated area near good residential compounds makes it apt for easy sports like jogging or walking. It is a Green area offering a mini playground for football or handball.

Salvator's Pizza & Pasta had the best pizza I had in Barranquilla. Their pasta was ok as their red sauce was a bit watery. The chicken parmesan was good. My mom loved the Di Mari pasta dish. The service on the other hand was bad. We ordered multiple dishes and were never asked if we liked the food, they just dropped off the dish and left. Overall I would try again, but if I saw the same server I would ask to be seated in a different section.
Leo S — Google review
Horrible service. Delicious food but the service is horrible. The attitude, specially of one of the male waiters is horrible and slow, and they expect a tip for a mediocre service. Beware! When you ask to take the tip pod the check, check twice because they will charge it anyway! The far girl with glasses charged it anyway… they are sneaky! 😡 Let them have their 2 cents! Not gonna be back at all!
German B — Google review
Pizza is ok, service is slow, the place was not very crowded, yet the have many delivery orders and it gets very busy and slow.
Keren S — Google review
Had the worst experience when I order a delivery. The app is not working I waited for more than one hour as the app says they haven’t assigned anyone to deliver the pizza until I called the restaurant and was told the delivery guy came and left because he could not reach me. They didn’t even try to ask the front desk to contact me. Don’t order with this place, worst customer service! I would rate it negative star if I could !

We ordered a pizza - and this is purely a personal preference, but I found the crust too thick for my taste. The coconut lemonade was amazing. The service was good too.

Some of the best food I've had in Colombia. The host was attentive and provided lots of information about all the dishes. If you're looking for delicious food that you talk about for days then Sarab is a place you must visit. I recommend the chicken that was perfectly cooked and full of Lebanese flavour. The homemade ice cream with pieces of chocolate fudge and topped with sweet peanuts and chocolate sauce was the perfect end to a wonderful culinary experience. Highly recommended

Baranquilla is known for its Arabic food. The most beautiful people in colombia are here because of the Lebanese blood line. If you want to try the best and most authentic Lebanese food go to this restaurant. Tony, the owner, originally from north Lebanon prepares amazing kibbe, hummus, tabouli and lentil soup. I was amazed, the quality and freshness were apparent in every bite. We drove 2.5 hours from Cartagena just to try it and we were not let down.

The meal begins with tasty appetizers like yuca and fried plantains before the main event unfolds with various meat options.

Dec 2021: This is an ok place to go get rodizio. They first offer you yuca/cassava,fried green banana and grilled ripe plantains. Then comes 13 different cuts of chicken, pork and beef. The best ones for me were the picanha and the filet mignon. Did not find any of the cuts outstanding, and were usually in between medium/well done. They could have a better selection, however that would increase the price significantly, which isn't very high for a rodizio ( COP 44.000 pp, 39.000 on Tuesdays).

We were really excited about this place before we got there. Interior of the restaurant is well taken care of. The staff was friendly enough and everything started out well. After that, it all went downhill. The food was pretty good minus the meat selection. Everything was overdone which was disappointing. The buffet portion was great! From there on the staff paid less and less attention to us which was frustrating. It took us 20 minutes to get our bill. The restaurant was busy which is a good sign. We are hoping this was just a one-time visit problem in the next time will be better.

Shopping
Portal del Prado Centro Comercial is a versatile indoor mall with two levels of stores, a variety of popular restaurants, and a movie theater. The spacious facilities make it easy to navigate through the mall, and it's recommended for those looking for franchise products or services in the area. Despite not being very large, the center offers a tranquil atmosphere with a clean and well-maintained environment. Whether you're visiting for shopping or dining, there's plenty of variety to explore within the mall.
Close to everywhere, good prices and a lot of options for food, lots of things to do but the cinema doesn't have English movies, it's in city center and that's why it is my favorite mall

Supermarket, food court and more, just a small mall. Clean Faucet in Bathrooms are the worst I have ever seen
Celmira L — Google review
It's a very dated mall. Not much of anything. I went there looking for clothing and it was all bad quality. I really looked around and found nothing. The area is financially challenged, to say the least.
Lilia D — Google review
It is a good shopping mall. However, I am just tired of visiting mall with too many people walking around for entertainment. Movie theater tickets are a little pricey and restaurants offer different menus but, I think it is overpriced for it. Choose same restaurants out of the mall and the food is much better and less money. But if you like walk in the mall and window shopping, it is perfect for that.

Very decent mall, there are your average food court and shopping mall. The parking space is not to bad and it is an easy exit/ enter into the place. The cleanliness is good compared to other malls that are close by that one. I like that there are every type of store you could imagine which is awsome and important into a great mall.

This place was cool to visit. We only went to one shop but it had others that looked good and brands only carried in Colombia. Just remember to either bring your own toilet paper or coins. The bathrooms require coins to get TP

Catedral Metropolitana María Reina de Barranquilla is a modern Catholic cathedral designed by Italian architect Angelo Mazzoni Grande. It took 27 years to build and is renowned for its vast interior, striking stained glass windows, and unique roof design that provides a cool respite. The absence of internal columns and a magnificent altar sculpture make it highly regarded, while the distinctive ceiling sculpture has been compared to Poseidon.
Trippiest Catholic Church I've been in since Saint Basil's Cathedral in Los Angeles in yje '70s. Pictures show how startling it is, but nothing comes close to the immensity of this building when seeing it in person. The sacred Art all around, in so many places and forms makes your jaw drop. The windows on the side for the Crucifixion, the windows in back for The Creation, the bas relief of birds in flight that pretend the real birds that come in through the open doors and rest on the startling sculpture of Christ as El Hombre latino. When I was there a service was going on, but want to go back and visit when I can roam around without disturbing. Place has been in better upkeep, but it really is an unusual experience to visit here.

Historic Walking Areas
Plaza de San Nicolás is a vibrant and colorful square in Barranquilla, Colombia. It's a popular spot for visitors to start their exploration, with the iconic Simon Bolivar statue nearby. The plaza is known for its Gothic-style church dedicated to the patron saint of wonderworkers. While the area can be crowded and a bit chaotic, it offers an authentic taste of local life with bustling markets and nearby shops and eateries.
We were looking for this church for a long time, and it was the last one on our 10 km route by Carrera 46 from the beginning to the end, than right to Paseo Bolivar square and through a huge number of shopping arcades to Alcaldia Distrital of Barranquilla to Plaža de San Nicolas. It's incomprehensible, there are a lot of market stalls, everyone is in tents, it's noisy, crowded, and then this divine church with its pink domes opens and everything around is quiet, solemn, there are not many people in the square and a service is going on, and I prayed for this beautiful city and its inhabitants.
Helen P — Google review
Located in center of Barranquilla this is a beautiful architecture building in middle of bustling markets. It’s a historic place that’s been taken over by commercial shops and bazaars.
T S — Google review
The church itself is beautiful. The area is sketchy, and on the left side of church there are a lot of homeless people and they have turned the area into their private bathroom. It smells horrible and it feels unsafe. So don't go alone, make the trip quick and stay safe. Seeing the church itself is worth it.

Seafood restaurant
Pescayé Barrio Abajo is a must-visit spot in Colombia, showcasing the best of Barranquilla. The restaurant offers a great atmosphere and excellent service. The breaded fish with soup, rice, and salad is a homemade delight presented beautifully with plantain leaves. Visitors rave about the Pescaye platter and La Pescadora for their amazing flavors. The seafood options like prawn baguette and fish burger are highly recommended by patrons.
Walking around Barrio Bajo we found a hallway with this restaurant that caught our attention because of the atmosphere. We decided to give it a try and we encountered great service and delicious food. We ordered breaded fish that came with soup, rice and salad. It tasted very home made and the presentation with plantain leaves made it more appealing to the eye and stomach. Would like to come back here to try more dishes.

Came here because of all the 5 star reviews, and they aren't wrong!! Yorley, our server, was super: attentive but letting us explore the menu, with solid recommendations when we asked. The food was terrific, prepared by a bachata-dancing chef visible through the wrought iron window decor. Don't miss the fish soup, enjoy the super mild and creamy robalo filet, and go for the lebranche, deep fried of course!! Will be back!

Roberto Melendez Metropolitan Stadium, located in the city, is a legendary venue and the largest football stadium in Colombia. It is home to Atletico Junior and hosts the Colombia National Team during World Cup Qualifying matches. Visitors praise its organized and comfortable seating, easy access for disabled individuals, and convenient transportation options after events. The electric atmosphere during South American football games is highlighted by passionate fans singing throughout matches while drum beats add to the energetic ambiance.
Here for the Shakira concert. Great venue. Sound was a little low at the back of the Preferencial section. Portable washrooms in the Preferential section I was in was genius Beer vendors were plentiful and sociable

We went to the Colombia vs Argentina soccer match. Entrance process horrible. We even made a queue to our area and when we got to the entrance they said the sign outside was wrong and had to you out again, walk around the stadium to find the correct entrance. We bought assigned seats (like everyone else) and after getting inside, the staff said (literally): find your own spot as nobody respects assigned seats. We ended up in a horrible spot after paying to be centered on the field, fourth row. The vending kiosks ran out of bottled water before the match started, they only sold beer. My wife doesn’t drink so it was pretty tough with the Barranquilla temperature of 43 Celsius. It is worth mentioning that people fainted by the dozens due to heat stroke and dehydration. I am not going again to that stadium. It is a disaster.

Nestled in the vibrant city of Barranquilla, Restaurante SteakHouse Chez Ernest is a culinary gem that invites you to indulge in exquisite French and European flavors. This establishment stands out for its exceptional selection of meats sourced from the finest herds across Colombia. The owner, with extensive experience in hospitality and gastronomy, has crafted a menu that showcases international dishes alongside their signature offering: the Pepper Steak Maison.
This restaurant transported us to another place and time with the music, the decor and the professionalism of the staff. I've heard that this restaurant has been around for years, and it shows with the level of detail put into everything they do. The service is on point, and our server was attentive, friendly, professional, and had knowledge about each dish and drink down to how it's prepared. I loved the "Alexander "cocktail he recommended. Once our starter plates arrived we knew that the food would be great but we had no idea that it was going to be a train that took us on a ride to flavor town, even the French fries were like nothing I've had before ( another recommendation from our server- thank you!) I don't have enough words to articulate how delicious every dish was but if you've been here you know what I'm talking about. If you haven't yet, you're missing out on a culinary life experience! Highly recommend this restaurant for everything that it is, truly AMAZING. I'd give this restaurant 10 STARS! ☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆

I read every review. Half the reviews say this is the best restaurant in the country; the other half says that it’s not worth the price. This restaurant is famous for its pepper steak. I assume that the other food is probably not as good. I told my date to only order the pepper steak and I will buy her anything else if she didn’t like it. My girlfriend is from Colombia. Most Colombians order their steaks well done (termino completo) but I asked her to try it Medium well (3/4 completo). It was her first time not eating well done steak and it made the world of a difference. This may explain the negative reviews. The total bill was around $120 USD for 2 people and was well worth the price. The wait staff was extremely attentive. The only negative is that they do not sell shots of Don Julio 1942; they only sell it by the bottle. I hope the restaurant will change because it is my favorite tequila, but it is also over priced for the bottle. I will definitely come back when I visit Barranquilla again. We had an excellent time and it was a wonderful experience.

I want to thank the staff and the owner of this restaurant after running there to investigate the food, in shorts, covered in sweat yesterday, to probe the food for my upcoming anniversary. I know I broke all of the rules of costeño customs, I want to formally apologize - but security outside allowed me to enter at 3:51 PM, I was treated with kindness, grace and classic Costeño hospitality despite my ridiculous appearance. The result was the best steak I’ve ever had in my entire life. I have traveled the world, Iceland, Argentina, Uruguay, this is the best. As a professional photographer, I often end up in culinary art spaces by invite and I want to say - if you visit Barranquilla and don’t eat here, you’re missing the diamond of the coast. Thank you again, from the bottom of my heart, for tolerating a weird artist in your space. Your food is immaculate, I will never forget it. I can’t wait to return.

Their speciality, Pepper Steak Maison is worth tasting, gratin mashed potatoes perfectly matches the steak. The service is friendly and very professional for being Colombia. The price is a bit hight but the product and the service is over the average in Barranquilla.

Day 4

Off the beaten path
For day 4, if you don’t mind the extra trek, today covers more off the beaten path places like Gran Malecón. Not quite as popular as Parque Cultural Del Caribe, but still highly rated among many travelers. Accounting for getting around and average time spent, today’s activities could take about 7 hours.

Park
Museum
Gran Malecón is a recent addition to Barranquilla's attractions, offering picturesque views and a fresh perspective of the city. It has quickly become a favorite spot for both exercise and relaxation. The riverside promenade is still under development but already features several restaurants and bars with excellent river views. While it lacks coffee options at the moment, it promises to offer more dining, bar, and coffee choices once fully developed.
This is one of my favorite things to do in #Barranquilla in the late afternoon and early evening … it is very hot to explore this place in the morning. It is a Linear park located alongside the Magdalena river with breathtaking sceneries of one of Colombia's biggest natural park (Via Parque Isla Salamanca). It’s perfect for every family that wants to enjoy an outdoor experience in direct contact with the river and its natural environment. Includes playground, restaurants and cultural activities. A notable monument is the Shakira Statue … many bus tours stop by this statue.

Barranquilla has changed so much. We had to stop by these new park which is very beautiful. Had a statue of Shakira, and Sofia Vergara and her dresses. And also drove by these amazing glass monuments.. Barranquilla is so beautiful now.

A great place to get some exercise or what the sunset. There are numerous restaurants, bathrooms, seating areas along the path.

Lively Spot for a Sunset Stroll The Santa Marta Malecón is a pleasant, walkable boardwalk that offers a lively slice of local life. It’s often bustling with people, especially around the smaller beaches at the end, and you'll find plenty of street vendors selling snacks, souvenirs, and local goods along the way. Lining both sides are charming little bars and restaurants — great for grabbing a drink or quick bite with a view. On the east end, don’t miss the iconic “Santa Marta” letters — a nice photo opportunity, especially around sunset. While it can get crowded, the atmosphere is energetic and fun, making it a great place to take in the local culture and enjoy a beautiful coastal sunset.
Eric O — Google review
Came here at morning, it was a stop for my cycling route, it was peaceful, the sun was burning for real, but there's a lot of trees so you can manage to find out where to rest below our beloved trees. Got energy recharged, rested, and hydrated and also enjoyed the view and the wind. It's good to see the Magdalena River, it's such an historical river, it just goes along half of the country and witness a lot of culture and places, you just gotta appreciate that river because it's someway the biggest in Colombia and at the Malecon you can view it while you do other things.
Carlos L — Google review
The development of the zone is still a work in progress. The place has a lot of restaurants and a few bars with an excellent view to the river. The place is very good to spend the evening with amazing river views. The restaurants are good however the place lacks options for coffee. I hope that the zone when it is fully developed, offers a lot more options on food, bars and coffee. The maintanence is good and the place is clean compared to the rest of the parks in Barranquilla. The statues of the caimen are a fun to watch.
Vivek J — Google review
Very nice place to spend the afternoon. Great views of the Magdalena River and many snacks and typical treats to eat. It is under development and hopefully soon will be an even better experience.

Centro Comercial Villa Country is a moderate-sized mall featuring a variety of stores such as Fallabella, a second-floor department store offering reasonably priced, high-quality items. The mall also includes Pops ice cream parlor, Juan Valdez and Donkin Doughnut coffee shops, Dollar City discount store, Carulla supermarket, and Western Union. Surrounded by towering palm trees, it provides an ideal location for a day of shopping.

Nice mall with a good variety of shops. Not my favorite mall in Barranquilla, but it's a good place to spend time in the area. Use the bathrooms in the lower level as they are equipped with toilet seats and toilet paper, the upper level bathrooms are not so equipped. That's one of my pet peeves in Colombia, bathrooms without toilet seats or paper. There are not many dining options at the mall, but plenty of places for a quick bite or coffee. Has an Olympica and Carrula in the mall, quite convenient.

3.5 is my rating. Even though this is an old building, it remains commercially active and vibrant. Chain stores such as Olimpica and Carulla atract many of its customers. Parking in the basement is tight and feels like it was built in the 80's. Food court could use more restaurants.

Zoo
Outdoor Activities
Zoológico de Barranquilla is a captivating zoo with a park-like ambiance and naturalistic habitats that house a diverse array of animals. Visitors can observe over 500 animals representing more than 140 species, including lions, elephants, flamingos, and many others. The zoo offers educational experiences about the origins of the animals and hosts regular events for added enjoyment. While it may be small in size, it provides an intimate setting to connect with the wildlife.
I recently had the pleasure of visiting the Barranquilla Zoo, and I must say, it was a delightful experience! While it may be a smaller zoo compared to some larger establishments, the level of care and dedication that the staff provides to the animals is truly commendable. From the moment I arrived, it was clear that the well-being of the animals is the top priority here. The enclosures are clean, well-maintained, and designed to mimic the animals’ natural habitats as closely as possible. A special shoutout to Christian O, who went above and beyond to share information about the hard work that the Zoo BAQ Foundation does for the welfare of the animals and birds at the zoo, as well as for conservation efforts throughout Colombia. His passion and enthusiasm are infectious, making the experience even more enriching. I encourage everyone to visit the Barranquilla Zoo. Not only will you get to see some incredible animals, but you’ll also support a team that genuinely cares about their well-being and is dedicated to educating the public about wildlife conservation. Your visit will make a difference!

This is a fun zoo. Many exotic animals are available to see. There is a food court and snack stands throughout. You can feed some animals and catch shows on schedule. Peacocks and Iguanas are seen on the pedestrian path. Water is cheaper if you buy outside and bring it in. I had a good time.
M A — Google review
The zoo is pretty small, but they have a good selection of unique animals. They have capybara, lions, a tiger, an elephant and a large selection of birds and snakes. Some of the cages seem too small for the animals and the elephant looks sad.

10tro M — Google review
Small zoo, needs more funding unfortunately. Still it's an okay zoo for a couple hours if the heat and humiditydoesn't get you first. Some enclosures like the lions and elephant are a bit small to be honest. Although they all look well fed
Diego R — Google review
I attended the zoo today and it was a an informative experience and saw animals that I never even heard of however I understand this is a nonprofit but the conditions are not well for small or big animals for example the African elephant, the tiger, alligator enclosure and many others. Even if it is a nonprofit, It shouldn’t mean that the animals should not have their Water bowl empty and food bowl empty at 10 AM when they open at 8 AM… A few of the enclosures for the animals are very small and you can see the small and big animals pacing in distress. A few of the animals for example the ostriches are under veterinarian care however although the sign says they are on medication, these ostriches should be kept apart, under shade, and perhaps bandages to prevent the ostriches from picking at their wounds. You can even see groups of mosquitoes picking at the animals..Although i enjoyed seeing animals I never thought I would see, I in general do not like zoos and this definitely emphasized that I will never visit a zoo again. I will forever keep these animals in my thoughts and hope as terrible as it sounds that they pass away soon and peacefully because no animal should live like this. I think the people who work here do care about the animals and like I said I understand it is a nonprofit but there Has to be assistance out there and the enclosures should be kept in better conditions.

The Shakira Statue, a 6.2-meter-high bronze monument, was unveiled at the Gran Malecon in December 2023 to honor the global success of the renowned singer who hails from Barranquilla. Situated on the third phase of the Gran Malecon, it has become a popular attraction drawing visitors who travel from Cartagena and nearby areas to see this iconic tribute.

Malecón Tourist León Caridi is a paved promenade that offers stunning views of the river and skyline, making it a popular spot for walkers and cyclists. The development of Barranquilla's Malecon has revitalized the city's connection with the Magdalena River, providing a beautiful setting for leisurely strolls along Colombia's important waterway.
I enjoyed Barranquilla malecon. It was beautiful to walk along the river. Somewhere in the middle is club Colombia. An entertainment area and a very nice open market style food court with bars, food vendors, and many desert cafes. I visited in February. I would recommend sun rise or sunset. Midday can be extremely hot, and if you're not from here, fluids management is crucial.

Absolutely worth the visit. Miura Steak House delivered on all fronts—food, service, and ambiance. The ribeye steak was cooked perfectly medium-rare, buttery and rich, easily one of the best I’ve had in Colombia. The bone marrow was a standout dish, roasted with finesse and served with fresh bread. The Angus tartare was fresh and flavorful, beautifully balanced with mustard seed and herbs. Service was attentive without being overbearing, and the staff really knew the menu. The ambiance was elegant and modern, perfect for a date night or upscale dinner. Our bill came to just under 500,000 COP for two with tip, and honestly, it felt like a steal for the quality. Will absolutely return

Restaurant
M Cocina Árabe Sede Casa La Independiente - Segundo Piso offers a delightful experience of Lebanese cuisine. The creamy eggplant puree, babagannuj, with its smoky oil and sesame, along with the tantalizing mix of onion petals, lemon drops, and garlic create a sweet and divine flavor.
Lebanese food is my favorite. I literally landed in Barranquilla and went straight to M Cocina. The place is absolutely beautiful, and every bite was better than the last. This is an absolute must every time I come to Barranquilla. We were a party of four. I ordered the Gran Especial, paid extra to swap the regular hummus for the Hummus M (a MUST), and added marmaon. It was absolutely perfect—a great way to try plenty of different flavors!
Angela H — Google review
Should have known walking in the door of this beautiful Italianate villa mansion that up on the second floor both of the two restaurants would be very swank. Gorgeous inside, with some really cool artwork around. I had the Vegetarian plate which is vegan. The lentil rice was quite delicious with tiny ribbons of fried onions on top. As usual in Colombia, it was a large quantity; but it was really nice to get some protein in from the lentils. A dark, musky dish, full of deep flavor. There was some deep fried and oily eggplant that I didn't care too much for, though I did consume it. The falafel was presented as it often is in Colombia: as a mini hockey puck: small, flat and fried deeply with a hard exterior, not much soft interior, with little of the aromatic flavors that cardamom can infuse in a delicious Middle Eastern falafel. They can be awfully dry. I had the Caribbean corozo juice for the first time and boy is that good, making up for it a bit. The hummus was very delicious and a perfect thick, soft and warm consistency, unlike some hummus you find in Colombia that is on the watery side and without the good garlic zest that makes it so delicious along with fresh lemon juice. But the dollop amounted to a scant tablespoon, which I felt was unfair. The tabouli was also quite good, but wish there were more of it. The pita was hard and dense. The small amount of hummus wasn't enough to soften it. Lovely place for a special occasion, and the bar drinks or wine might make some of the food tastier on a fun evening with friends.
Bili — Google review
Beautiful spot with top-tier ambiance — dim lighting, elegant plating, and a vibe that makes you feel like you're about to dine like royalty. Service was sharp and friendly from start to finish, no complaints there. Now the food… it looked the part, but didn’t quite hit the mark if you know your Lebanese. Let’s call it the best imitation of authentic Lebanese you’ll find in town — close enough to impress the untrained palate, but missing that soul and seasoning that makes you close your eyes and hum with every bite. Also, not a word of Arabic spoken in the place — which is a bit of a plot twist for a Lebanese restaurant anywhere on Earth. 3.5 stars for food, but rounded up for the effort, service, and aesthetic. Come for the experience, not a Beirut flashback.
Saeed T — Google review
This restaurant was absolutely fantastic. My colleague and I ate there one night and brought a group of conference attendees back with us the next day. We tried the hummus with beef, the grilled half chicken with garlic, the grilled chicken breast with the butter sauce, and tabbouleh the first night, along with some lime mint seltzer and passion fruit juice. The half grilled chicken with garlic takes 30 minutes to make but wow, it is worth it! One of the best half chicken dishes I've had in a long time. The second night we were a group of 7 and ordered the large selection of appetizers to share, along with the sharing platter of meat dishes. We also tried several desserts and the entire group enjoyed the meal. The service is also great - we had a young waiter the first night that gave us some great recommendations and answered all of our questions very thoughtfully. The waiter our second night was helpful in choosing food for a group of 7. The decor is beautiful and relaxing, and with good AC, it was a nice break from the heat and humidity outside.

Delicious Lebanese food. The restaurant itself has a fabulous interior of all wood paneling and vaulted ceilings. Marvelous staff who is very attentive to the guests. We tried the sirloin and chicken kabob and it was absolutely marvellous. If you're in town visiting I would highly recommend coming to this restaurant at least once if not twice to try their food it's very reasonably priced and is extremely well prepared and tasty. One note in finding the entry to the restaurant: The location is located inside a mid-rise building on the second floor being accessible in the lobby entryway through the elevator or the stairwell. The restaurant signage is not well marked outside the white gates what do your parents of a private apartment or hotel.
Charles R — Google review
Extremely well made Lebanese treats. The place actually tastes like Lebanese grandma food... makes everything else feel like an imitation.
Pedro G — Google review
Nice place, very good and tasty food, the dishes are pricey but it’s quality and quantity match the price. I had a vegetarian option and was really good and the humus is very tasty as well
Santiago Z — Google review
The food was amazing! It was full of flavor and the variety was great. However, we didn't get the best customer service. The waiter was rude and even messed up our order. Then he made a comment about how he would need to pay for the plate that he mistakenly order for us. We felt bad and paid for the plate anyways, however his attitude just made the ambiance a little sour. Prices were good.

Restaurant
La Garosa is a remarkable establishment that promises a truly exceptional dining experience. Situated in an outstanding location, this restaurant guarantees satisfaction and leaves no room for disappointment. Although the prices might seem slightly high, the quality and value of the food are unparalleled. The culinary offerings are nothing short of breathtaking; dishes that can only be described as extraordinary await eager guests. The cuisine served at La Garosa is truly impressive, leaving patrons in awe with every bite they take.
Just an exelent place..you will not regret to go there⁹

The place was empty when we (a group of 4) got there. We had some buñuelos they were OK compared to what they used to be. My daughter wanted a pancuka and although they had some, they told us they were already reserved. This shows lack of planning as they must have some spare to sell in site besides the ones for delivery.
Kenjibatusai — Google review
They have a cute little terrace, small tho’ You have to try all their buñuelos! The dulce de leche one is my favourite! Tequeños (local cheese sticks) are really good too and the arepa con huevo (a deep fried corn patty with egg inside) definitely worth the try. They don’t sell coffee in any presentation. And the place is hard to find. What I do I buy the goodies and then drive to the malecon to eat all.

Monumento Ventana al Mundo, also known as Window to the World, is a striking testament to Barranquilla's dedication to arts and culture. This public open-air monument stands at an impressive 47 meters tall, making it the tallest monument in Colombia. Donated by the Barranquilla-based company Tecnoglass, this colorful structure is made of laminated safety glass and represents creativity, talent, and culture.
This monument “Monumento Ventana al Mundo” = “Window to the World” is a must see attraction in Barranquilla. I even suggest to come at different times of the day to get different photos based on the direction of the sun. It takes 15 minutes to reach this monument as it is away from city … near an industrial area. I also suggest taking photos while laying on the ground … Enjoy!

Ventanas al Mundo is such a colorful and beautiful place to visit! The artwork and design make it perfect for taking amazing photos. The lady there will take really cool pictures of your group for just a small tip, and she’s super friendly and creative with the shots. Definitely worth stopping by — it’s a fun and memorable experience!

🎑 7.5/10: It is a great place for cool pictures! Personally I feel like this is not a tourist attraction but more just like a landmark in Barranquilla. The colors are really vibrant at night and many people took cool pictures with fun poses! I just wish you can go up to the top so you can see the whole city view! 📍8/10: Located at a round about and it was quite easy to find street parkings! It is a big place so there is many angles to look at the colorful windows, I really enjoyed looking at how the colors changed from different angles!

This Ventana al Mundo is an amazing work of art. We took pictures. Amazing location to take pictures. It’s incredible how creative some of these vendor that were hanging out and helped to take our pictures were.
S C — Google review
In town with few options for tourists, Ventana al mundo is well worth the cheap cab fare to capture a few nice pictures. And if you happen to encounter a young guy selling cheap souvenirs see if he’ll snap a few pictures for you because the guy we asked took these shots and we had lots of fun being silly.
S G — Google review
The experience of seeing it was good, but as an English tourist I didn't understand anything that was written on the windows. They should improve that for all tourists, and I didn't even find a guide.

Nice view. You may buy some souvenirs and know a little more about Barranquilla history

The most new monument in the city and the highest in Colombia. This place will remember you because this city wants to continue being a pioneer in the country.

Parque Villa Santos is an excellent recreational area suitable for people of all age groups. It offers a variety of sports facilities such as volleyball and basketball courts, which are located next to the patinodromo. Although it adjoins a busy road, this is not a major concern. The park also features an eco-friendly gym and a children's playground. Additionally, visitors can observe iguanas in their natural habitat.
Great park for all ages. Volleyball and basketball as well as it backs up to the patinodromo. Just a side not that it is next to a busy road but not a big deal. It has iguanas as well!

Place is always desolate. And they have a prohibition not to sit on wall benches surranding plants. The supermarket is terrific. But wonder how they make economic sense of a nice building with hardly any customers

Restaurant
Snack Fit Me, a popular health food store in Colombia, offers an exquisite selection of dishes that are not only delicious but also nourishing. Their guacamole tostada is simply amazing, with a fantastic combination of ingredients that create a delightful taste. Additionally, their carrot cake stands out for its subtle sweetness in both the crust and frosting. It's truly an incredible experience for those seeking healthier eating options.
If you are searching for tasty, healthy, and high-quality food in Barranquilla, this is a place to be. The menu is very diverse, offering from savory to sweet options. When I saw it, it was difficult for me to decide what to choose:) Finally, I went for the choco pancakes and the almond milk-based smoothie. All delicious! A big, big plus for the wholegrain products, vegetable milk, and vegan options which are not that easy to find in Colombia:)

I've visited the restaurant in cartagena last year was awesome. Since then it closed however this place Is horribl. I went there at night service was great pizza was great. I was so happy. I went there the next morning for breakfast. And O m g it was horrible. The waitress was so ignorant An inexperienced. I asked for a manager and they looked at me like a deer and a headlights There are other restaurants nearby that are way better.
Steve M — Google review
Bakery to go is amazing. Bread croissants don’t disappoint however the sit in restaurant sucks. Everyone in the kitchen was just standing around doing nothing. Waited 30 minutes for a simple sandwich. After getting it wasn’t worth the wait. Waitress was just standing on her phone not checking up. What kind of restaurant is this? If you aren’t going to do the restaurant fine just don’t advertise it. Stick to bakery and that’s it.

Pizza restaurant
La Piazzetta de Flavia & Michel is a delightful eatery that offers a pleasant dining experience. It boasts a charming terrace adorned with beautiful lighting, allowing diners to enjoy their meals comfortably even in the breezy weather of Barranquilla. The service provided is commendable, with friendly staff ensuring guests have an enjoyable time. The menu features appetizing dishes such as beef carpaccio and grilled octopus and calamari, which although slightly spicy, are still flavorful.
Excellent Italian culinary restaurant !!!! Very cozy ambience in a very privileged city area. Menu has a great variety , dishes are affordable and generous. The best is the service and cuisine !!! The owner always is greeting the customers . It is a place to visit again and again!!!! Visiting from Canada 🇨🇦.

I ate at this restaurant a couple of times during my two week stay in BAQ. The bartender is amazing and makes a mean Negroni. I had the same server both times and received excellent service. In addition, the owner was present both times and made sure I had a wonderful dining experience. The air conditioning on the second floor was ice cold and much appreciated. This restaurant is very popular with the locals.
Sidney W — Google review
Delicious restaurant. We sat at the terrace because there weren’t seats inside and they don’t accept reservations but it was really nice, they have lights that make it really beautiful and it wasn’t hot because barranquilla right now is a little windy. The service was good, very friendly. We ordered two starters, beef carpaccio and grilled octopus and calamari. The carpaccio was good and the octopus and calamari were too but a little spicy. Then we ordered a pizza Gabriel and penne a la vodka. The pizza was the highlight of our evening. It was really delicious, recommended. Thank you for everything.
Andrea G — Google review
Amazing and authentic. Reminds me of Italian food in the United States. Their focus is more appetizers, pizzas and pastas but they have other entrees including some good fish options. My favorite Italian restaurant in colombia. Highly recommend it
John B — Google review
Excellent Italian food, the "Rey David" pizza is wonderful, must stop if you're in town. Friendly staff.
Nicolás M — Google review
This is easily one of the best restaurants in town. The food is awesome. Michel gives his best and loves greeting his guests and serves as best he can. Go with plenty of time and prepare to take a long time while there. Try sharing a potato pizza (I know it sounds weird). The seafood risotto is excellent. Either get there early or make reservations... The place is usually packed
