I had the opportunity to visit Arulmigu Nellaiyappar Temple in Tirunelveli, and it was a wonderful experience. The temple is one of the finest examples of Dravidian architecture, with its beautifully sculpted pillars, intricate carvings, and a vast temple complex that reflects centuries of history and devotion. The atmosphere inside the temple is very serene and spiritual, making it a perfect place to spend time in prayer or simply to admire the cultural richness. The temple is also well-maintained, and the traditional rituals performed here add to the divine charm. Overall, this temple is not just a place of worship but also a must-visit cultural and architectural landmark in Tamil Nadu. A visit here leaves you feeling both peaceful and inspired.

Nellaiyappar temple Such a monumental temple with extraordinary architecture. It was simply blissful to be there. Temple is just in the heart of Tirunelveli. There are multiple temples inside the campus. It’s will definitely take more than 1 hour to complete all gods. If you are a spiritual and architect lovers. You shouldn’t miss to visit this temple.

One for Nelliappar for lord siva and another for the goddess Gandhimathi. There are variety of other lingams such as mola lingam and gubera lingam and sachasra lingam etc. nellai govindar sannidhi is also present near to the lord siva sanctrum. Very big temple complex with big prahars.

A 2nd biggest siva temple in world,with very huge 3(3 for ambal + 3 for shiva)pragarams. Gomathy ambal is very gorgeous 😍 (gnanasakthi swaroopam). I have given 5 starts because every inch of the temple are very clean , Management is not shown that much interest in commercializing darshan( No 100rs,50 rs tickets for darshan) only 5 rs that too not required for all days . I really felt shivas heaven when I entered near garbhagraham of nellaiyappar .I suggest all to visit arround 5.30 Am to see the thiruvanathal sevai ,you will never forget the temple in life

District Science Centre in Palayamkottai, Tirunelveli is a very nice place for children and families. It has many science exhibits which you can touch and try. Kids really enjoy the sections like Fun Science, Mirror Magic, Electronics, and the Planetarium show. There is also a 3D theatre, a small dinosaur park, and a science garden with green space where you can sit or walk. Many school trips come here because students can see and learn science in a fun way. Entry ticket is affordable (around ₹25–₹30), and extra ₹30 for the 3D or planetarium. The place is usually calm and peaceful — good for a relaxed visit. But some problems are there. Few machines are not working, and cleanliness inside could be better. Maintenance is not proper in some parts. Parking is outside the gate, so visitors have to walk a bit. Also, the 3D glasses are not very clear, so that can improve. ✅ Good points: Educational, fun for kids, low cost, planetarium, greenery ⚠️ Bad points: Some exhibits not working, basic maintenance issues, no inside parking Final word: Very good for school kids and science lovers — just keep expectations simple.

Inside, you’ll find science-related exhibits, a small playground for kids, and a few animal and bird enclosures. There are also mechanical dinosaurs that growl through speakers and make small head movements at intervals. While these features are interesting, what I enjoyed the most was the wind—it's incredibly breezy and refreshing. You can relax with your family, find a nice spot, and just enjoy the pleasant atmosphere. There’s also a small garden with flowers. If you’re wondering whether the ticket is worth the price, I’d say yes—mainly for the wind. That alone made the visit memorable for me.

Located just 40 km away from Coutralam Falls, this mesmerizing spot is far less crowded, making it a peaceful escape. Though the waterfall here is smaller in height, the force of the water is incredible—you literally can’t stand against it! It pushes you right off your spot, which makes it super fun, especially when you're with a group of friends. 🎉 Right next to the falls, you’ll find a dam, which is quite rare to witness together. I’ve never seen a dam and waterfall side by side like this—it’s truly a unique experience! They’ve thoughtfully provided separate dress changing rooms for ladies, ensuring privacy and safety. 👍 The same road also leads to Manjolai, which is a restricted forest area where entry is not allowed without special permission. This entire place is under the control of the Forest Department, and there are strict security checks. A beautiful place which is not maintained properly. Park looks like graveyard. Government could have taken steps to maintain it properly. Proper checking has been done before entering the falls which was appreciable. If everything is maintained well,it will be one of the best tourist spot in Tirunelveli .

Reserve forest area and entry by buying tickets from officials. It's a trek uphill and water is cool and damn pure. Neatly maintained place due to strict maintaince by officals.

Vairamaligai Restaurant is always crowded, which shows how popular it is. The food here is really tasty and freshly prepared - definitely worth trying! However, the prices are a bit on the higher side. If you don’t mind spending a little extra for good taste and quality, it’s a nice place to dine.

Received the hot and sour soup. Did not expect this, all I had to do was add the seasoning at the table. 😂, this will make us a chef on the fly. Butter chicken was not buttering for me, the grill is a disappointment and the chicken Manchurian was okay. The only thing that was good on my plate was the parotta, would recommend only that for a hold dinner in experience. And also don't ask for a waiter as they work on their own schedule. P S. The Mayo was sketchy. Avoid it.

Good food nothing special, won’t say as a must try place. Costly too. I tried parotta and naatu kozhi. Naatu kozhi gravy was mediocre - it was tangy. Anyone who has had authentic gravy would know that this is nowhere close to that.

Not worth the hype, we walked in for dine in they made us wait for 30 mins and they wouldn't accept take away orders while you're eating within the restaurant and make you go to the billing counter and order again, the attached bill time stamp shows 10.18 pm and time is already 10.45 it just takes 45 mins to an hour just to give us 4 parotta packed. I wouldn't recommend this restaurant if you're planning to go as a big family eat out.

Whenever I visit Tirunelveli, I used to have lunch here. Three months ago, the meal cost ₹120, but it has recently increased to ₹150. Initially, they provided ghee and parupu podi, but on my visit today, October 20, 2024, those items were not included. Additionally, the quality of the food has declined; I found two small particles in the vegetables, indicating they weren't washed properly. It seems they have prioritized profit over maintaining quality and service.

Today we tried lunch from here. The special dal curry with ghee was excellent. The koottu poriyal was superb. The cauliflower fry was good, but it was too oily.Over all good. The food is very expensive compared to other hotels.

Went to try Sodhi and it's awesome. Some of my friends suggested this mess since I had cravings for Sodhi Kulambu (Dish made from buttermilk exclusive to Tirunelveli & Kanyakumari). The side dishes were also good. Would definitely recommend this place for vegetarian folks. Car parking and access to the mess is little problematic because of narrow congested roads but if you travel by motorcycle then it's not a problem.

My honest review: I went to Muthu Mess for lunch after few years with high expectations. To start with, the place is too pricey, ₹ 150 for a ordinary meal with just one poriyal, kootu and no curd is day light robbery, even Sangeetha or Geetham in Chennai is cheaper than this. Then they have multiple sides like Sodhi, fry, poriyal etc, chargeable which are very average, I get a feeling they are reheating or frying again. Not up to the mark. Now Sodhi, sambar are all too watery, even the curd we buy for 20 rupees extra is too watery. I really wonder how many people in Tirunelveli can afford 250 for a meal. I don’t recommend this restaurant any more. Regarding service, people are not interested to serve, very lethargic and takes multiple calls to come and serve. Owner boy is damn arrogant. Only the chants of hare rama Hare Krishna is pleasing to the ears

Taste and quality wise good but price and quantity wise bad for side dish. We have tried Gobi fry for that we need to pay 25 rupees but quantity is very less, same to other side dishes but meals will cost 100 rupees which includes two sde dish, unlimited rice, rasam, sambar, vatha kulambu and butter milk, specially for their pure vegetarian we can try for one time Cons: price of the side dish, parking Pros: taste and history

One of the Worst hotel I ever visited in Tirunelveli. Overly priced food. Don't believe those fake influencer. Very average food charged 150 rs. Just one poriyal, kootu, keerai. Worst atmosphere they aren't follow any hygiene. They asked us to wait infront of hotel. After some time the guard ask us to go upstairs. But again we are waiting in the hotel dining infront of other customers who are all eating, It's like we have to identify the places like kalyana veedu sapadu idam pidikrathu😝.I felt whether im here for free food😂Better the hotel should concentrate on its services and food quality. A good temple with Lord Siva in his mang manifestations along with other gods. One sincere request to the Govt of Tamilnadu is to introduce english too in name boards as people who can't read Tamil gets confused seeing the same Sivalinga in many locations. Visited Arulmigu Kasi Viswanathar Temple and it was wonderful. The tall Gopuram and beautiful carvings are stunning. The temple is peaceful and a large space area with neat and clean maintaining atmosphere. It's a great place to visit for anyone who loves history, spirituality, or just wants to experience something beautiful. Everyone visiting courtallam and nearby areas must visit this temple.

This was my 2nd visit after 11 years. Not changed much. A simple temple. Good architecture not great like tanjavur. But still it is an important temple in the region.

Every time in upstairs when I see the majestic gopuram, it feels truly divine. When we enter the temple , the air itself seems to welcome us with a sacred energy. The darshan of the Shiva Lingam is so powerful that it brings goosebumps & tears to the eyes. A must visit temple that fills the heart with devotion and peace.

A must visit Temple when visiting Tenkasi, A peaceful and delightful experience visiting this 🛕. The surroundings of this temple also was neat and well maintained when we visited. The only issue we found here was the provision for parking, we must be lucky enough to find a spot. Tenkasi is built around the Kasi Viswanathar temple. The temple has a seven-tiered gopuram (temple tower) and has concentric granite walls that enshrines all the shrines in the temple. The temple has a pillared hall from the entrance leading to the flagstaff hall. The sanctum is located axial to the entrance facing east. The image of Kasi Viswanathar in the form of lingam is housed in the sanctum. The images of Vinayaka and Subramanya are located on either side of the hall leading to the sanctum

It seems Good and elegant wedding. The main attraction in this temple is lord Shiva face west direction. It is said to be unique. We can get positive vibrance in this location.

Beautiful 1000 year old temple located in the banks of kadana Nadhi. The temple is located near alwarkurichi near Papanasam and tenkasi. The main deity Sivasailanathar, a swayambu lingam (slightly bent) is facing west (this is the only temple in tamilnadu where the lord Shiva is facing west). Ambal paramakalyani is blessing everyone with four hands. A golden watch worn by the ambal paramakalyani during the festival time is referred to as a remarkable event. The temple is famous for celebrating arubadham kalyanam (Wedding anniversary at the time of 60 years of age).

It is situated on the way to Papanasam from Tenkasi, a small village road leads at Alwarkuruchy to Sivasailam towards western side hills. A beautiful Lord Siva Temple with an unusual many remarkable aspects. The main Deity is Sivasailanather, and the Goddess Paramakalyani. The Temple is on the banks of a small river from where the Idial (Sivalingam) was found. So this Lingam is not at all curved and touched by any Artisian. Another different from other Temples are, this Temple is facing towards western side while all other Temples are facing towards Eastern Side in whole Tamilnadu State. Hence all the Idials are in this Temple are placed in an opposite sides against usual sites, in all other Temples. So the first pooja is for Nandi who is facing towards East. This Nandi also very significant, one can not see any where in this country with a beautiful carving in this granite stone, each parts , as if it is alive. The Priest will show the back side of the Lingam, for the Devotees to show linings from top to bottom as of hairs grown naturally without any carving by any Artisian. I was told that this remote village is the home of Simpson and Amalgamation groups owner who also built a Ladys collage by Name Paramakalyani . This Sivasailam village and the Temple is very calm and quite place.

Jun2022 Kumbhabesakam completed. Nandi Bhagwan makes Shivsailam proud! Sivasailapati-para Mahalyani Ambal Temple is located on the banks of Karuna River in Sivasailam, west of Azhwarkurich. The temple is situated in such a way that Swami, Ambalum, who is seated towards the west, gives a view to Atri Maharishi at Atrimalai. Upon entering the temple, Lord Nandi is sitting comfortably facing east. History says that the Nandi of the temple was designed by Mayan, the master of sculpture. Because the sculpture is so realistic in its sculpting, Nandi any Lord Idol comes to life. It is said that the position was reached and immediately, a line was drawn on the back of the Nandi statue and the sculptor was asked to do so. That is why Lord Nandi here is seen sitting on his right leg and standing up. Garlands are decorated very realistically on Nandi. Nandi worshiped even though he performed the Abhishekam. It's even better if the idol looks shiny and not stuck on top of it. Every year on the last Friday of the month of Aadi, a festival called Nandikalapam is held for Lord Nandi. Today (11th) Aadi Kalapa Vaipavam is going to be held by the Aawarkurichi Chavadi Ayan Chidambarampillai Kudumbam for the last 123 years. Natiya Deeparathana takes place on Nandikalapa Vaibhava. The day before that, Nandhikalapam day Nandhi decorated of maakapu. After the Nandhikalapam the next day (Saturday) Santhanam kapu removed and the regular Pooja will be started.

It's a great temple to visit. With its historic importance and the river to take a holy dip the temple is worth a visit. The street side vendors who offer archana materials charges you very high. The government should either open stalls by them self or arrange to fix a price. The temple should have UPI payment acceptance too so that the darshan funds are accounted.

One of the oldest temple around Thamirabharani river. -car parking and other bathroom facilities are there -5.00am to 12.30 pm 4.30pm to 8.00pm If you need to light any " motcham vilaku " then get pure ghee and vilaku from your home it self... We can buy there but it seems costly and duplicate ghee... Visit and keep it neatly

Jeep ride from Manimuthar range office. Costs 500 per adult and 250 for kids.. Jeep ride is 12 km one way and goes off road after Sorimuthu Ayyanar temple. Overall good experience, there isnt much wildlife to spot.. Drive around Karaiyar dam was scenic and the waterfalls was viewable from little far.. Boat ride or bathing in waterfalls is not allowed. Restrooms are very clean in the range office, there are refreshments available to buy till 4PM.

Part of my childhood nostalgia...1st waterfall experience of my life while visiting my ancestor Temple, we visited this waterfall too. I still remember a school of fish swimming near the shore, that fear of traveling by boat to the falls, fear of seeing a small amount of water leakage inside the boat, thinking what if I sank in the water as I didn't know how to swim... All fear flew away when I saw that waterfall... Enjoyed it with my cousins. Suddenly, one year, they told us we couldn't go there because the water flow was reduced. Now we have all grown up, not getting chance to reunite to travel to this beautiful place.

Amazing place and scenery. This place is really a visual retreat and more over the place of temple was really a architecture marvel . The temple is perfectly blend with nature and surroundings. We need to walk around 1/2 KM from the downside to reach Kalyana theertham. Best place to have meditation and it’s not advisable to bath because the depth of small reservoir and for your safety . Don’t ever miss it if you are visiting Agasthiar falls

Awesome place very peaceful for mind and adventures place need to climb around 150 steps takes travel timing around 10 to 20 minutes. This place is maintained very clean. 🚨🚨🚨 Tourist please avoid throwing plastics in forest places SAVE NATURE 🚨🚨🚨

Its one of the oldest temple which was constructed during pandyas rule later which was extended by different kings. Lord Shiva, Parvathi(Ganthimathi) and Vishu are main idols here. The temple has good architecture and one of the things to be noticed is the musical pillars.

A Divine Experience of Devotion & Strength Nellaiappar Temple’s Aani Therottam is truly a grand sight—one of Asia’s largest chariots pulled purely by human strength! I've been attending for the past 4 years, and the energy, devotion, and massive crowd are unmatched. It takes nearly 12 hours for the chariot carrying Lord Nellaiappar and Kanthimathi Amman to complete its journey. The police do an incredible job managing the crowd, ensuring safety and care. A spiritual experience everyone should witness at least once in life!

I visited Central Cafe few days ago. I have been regular to this restaurant whenever I visit Tirunelveli for the last couple of decades. I would say this is a decent veg restaurant near the junction. Food quality is good. Cost is not much as mentioned in few other reviews. A good spot if you are planning to take parcel and board the train. Parking is an issue especially if you come by car. Having said that it is a good veg restaurant over there.

About to catch a train? Want a quick tiffin? Want to buy some parcel. This is the good place. Don't expect awesome taste. But its OK taste.

Just an average restaurant. Had masala dosa and coffee, both being just average taste. Chutney was not that much great. Staffs are all old people. Service time is not too long. No AC provided, too hot inside Not much recommended. Parking is hard to find. Easy for passengers traveling to have light vegetarian food.

The dosas and Idly that we ordered were genuinely good and satisfying. It was exactly what I needed to start my day. The service was also efficient, and I appreciated the promptness. While I didn't spend much time focusing on the atmosphere, it seemed like a pleasant and local spot.

However, it was a bit oily, which might not suit everyone. The service was fairly quick and the staff was courteous, but the pricing felt on the higher side for what was offered. The portion sizes were average, and while the food was tasty, it didn’t quite justify the cost compared to similar places nearby. Overall, Hotel Central Cafe has good food and ambience, but the higher prices might make you think twice if you're looking for better value for money. A nice experience, but not the most budget-friendly option.

Central cafe located in the Railway station Road is a good hotel .Food is good Rates are normal.As itis close to railway station it is almost crowded always.Please visit for your needs.Hotel is no doubt good.Service is very good.
