Nestled in the charming locale of Agia Marina, Arhondiko Traditional Taverna is a must-visit for anyone seeking an authentic Greek dining experience. This delightful eatery offers a perfect blend of Mediterranean flavors and local hospitality, making it an ideal spot to unwind after exploring the beautiful surroundings. Guests rave about the homemade baklava paired with raki, which adds a sweet touch to their meal.
Really nice atmosphere with tables in a garden of old olive trees. Service was quick and the staff was nice, not overly talkative but with a smile on their faces. Had a mixed grill plate which was really good, seems like the grill is their forte. Good house rose wine that we got to drink in smaller, traditional wine glasses.

The food was absolutely delicious – full of flavor and clearly made with care. I would definitely come back! The staff is incredibly friendly and welcoming, making you feel right at home. The atmosphere is relaxing, and the quality-to-price ratio is excellent. Highly recommended!

By chance, we stumbled upon this gem among all the restaurants in Agia Marina, and it turns out to be a gift from the Greek gods. Absolutely outstanding Greek food, incredibly warm and super friendly service. And the gorgeous guest garden in a very tranquil setting, gave us the best evening since our arrival on the island, away from the usual tourist hustle and bustle. A definite insider tip that certainly won't stay secret for much longer! We've already made another reservation for this week 😉❤️

Taverna Arhondiko is an absolute gem! ❤️ The food is simply fantastic – fresh, full of flavor, and prepared with great passion. The service is professional, friendly, and always with a smile, and the owners create an incredible atmosphere – warm, welcoming, and filled with true Greek hospitality. The place itself is magical – the tables are set in a beautiful garden among olive trees, creating a one-of-a-kind, peaceful atmosphere. You can truly feel the spirit and charm of Crete here. 🌿✨ I wholeheartedly recommend this place to anyone looking not only for delicious food but also for a restaurant with a soul. Whenever I’m on Crete, I can’t imagine not eating here – they are simply fantastic! 🇬🇷💙

We had an amazing experience at Arhondiko, and we can’t recommend it enough! From start to finish, everything was perfect. The food was absolutely delicious – especially the lamb chops, which were cooked to perfection, and the dessert was equally impressive. What truly made our visit unforgettable was the outstanding service. The woman working there was incredibly warm, attentive, and made us feel truly welcomed. It’s rare to find such genuine hospitality, and it really elevated the whole experience. The atmosphere at Arhondiko is cozy and charming, with the feeling of a true family-run restaurant. You can tell that a lot of love and care goes into both the food and the service. A solid 5 out of 5 – we’ll definitely be back!

Family owned and operated. Some of the best food in Chania!!! Great outdoor dining experience and great tasting menu. We ate almost everything and all of the food was delicious. Highly recommend. We had dinner here 4 times in one week it was that good !
P S — Google review
The food was good and tasted good, however, it lacked that little extra to get 5 stars. The staff was very nice, although a little confused at times, but it easily becomes that way with a lot of people. Our waiter was very nice in any case. Our dessert (which was included) Greek yogurt with cherries was also good. (Then I just want to give an answer to another review, if you are in Greece and its associated islands, then you can't complain about cats, they are EVERYWHERE. Just like the location, )

We had an amazing experience at Arhondiko Restaurant. The food was absolutely delicious — it truly felt like a home-cooked meal, just the way my mum would prepare it. The atmosphere is extremely warm and inviting, and the beautiful garden makes it even more special. Highly recommended for anyone looking for authentic flavors and a charming setting!

Agia Marina Beach

Beach
Agia Marina Beach is a popular attraction on the island of Crete, known for its convenience and amenities. Just 35 minutes from Chania, it offers well-organized facilities including bars and affordable sunbed and umbrella rentals. For those seeking luxury, Cabana Mare bar provides a more upscale experience with a pool river and jacuzzi. The shallow entrance to the water makes it ideal for families with small children.
The beach is truly stunning, with crystal-clear water that sparkles in the sunlight. The sand, a unique darkish hue, offers a gentle and inviting slope into the sea, perfect for a refreshing swim. If the sand were lighter, the water would take on a striking blue shade, adding to the beauty of the scene. The shoreline is lined with numerous well-maintained sunbeds, providing ample space for relaxation and comfort. For those seeking a touch of luxury, there are also several upscale options available, as seen in the photos. These premium choices may come at a higher cost, but they cater to those looking for an elevated beach experience. Overall, this beach caters to a variety of preferences, ensuring a delightful visit for everyone.

My favorite beach in Greece. Lovely scenery and huge waves sometimes! Rocky bottom but if you swim further it turns into sand. Lovely beach for a beach day!
Nini — Google review
Endless sandy beach! Fine sand and shallow water for the first 20m or so. Lifeguard on duty!
Alex G — Google review
A very nice beach, we spent the afternoon here. Big waves so we couldn’t enter the water as the red flag was raised.
Alex — Google review
Beautiful beach with soft sand. Nice place to watch the sunset. Can be crowded at noon during the summer tourist season.
Antti K — Google review
Beautiful beach. Sandy, long, relaxing. No loud music anywhere. Smiling people. Especially beautiful sunset, which lasts and lasts. Neat and clean beach.
Dejana I — Google review
A very large beach with a lot of sunbeds and plenty of free zone. The water is shallow and crystal clear. There weren't a lot of parking spaces but it's probably fine to park on the main street which is very close. The sand is a bit hard and wet but that might have been only this day. We still could put our own umbrella.
Daniel G — Google review
It's a little crowded but the beach is big so it doesn't feel like much. Shallow and warm water, with waves, windy especially in the part of the beach to the left of the island. Otherwise the beach is pleasant, part of it has sunbeds, umrellas and and bars, part is free, you can also find natural shade from trees.

Agia Marina Beach, located near Chania, is renowned for its long sandy stretch and family-friendly atmosphere. The beach offers a variety of facilities and accommodations including villas and hotels. Visitors can enjoy clear, transparent waters suitable for children and engage in water sports activities. Additionally, the area boasts numerous taverns and restaurants where guests can savor local cuisine while taking in the beautiful surroundings.
One of the best beaches i visited at Chania either sunbdeds, umbrellas, showers and beach restaurants.
Alexandros P — Google review
We were there September 2025. Beautiful beach, the water is crystal clear. Often it was a red flag because the waves were high, and the wind was strong. The beach - sand, small stones, large stones or boulders the closer you get into the sea. Shallow water would be suitable for families with children but the waves and current can be tricky. There was many people who walk around with scrapes on their arms and legs after a curious approach to water :) There is a lifeguard. Sunbeds can be rented from various restaurants without or with you eating at them. Just a sunbed with a beach umbrella costs 4 €/person.
Ildiko S — Google review
Wave here is quite strong, the beach is some places more gravely and some place quite sandy, there are bars along the whole beach, quite easy to find a place to have a some drink or food.
Lin Z — Google review
Lovely blue water long sand beach . Best for morning sunrise and evening sunset.
Banjong S — Google review
A very nice place for my tastes, full of accommodation buildings (villas and hotels) full of facilities and optimal conditions for spending holidays. The golden sand does not give you that blue colour of the sea but the sea is clear, transparent and very suitable for children. A very well organised beach where you can find umbrellas and sunbeds for free if you are a customer in the tavern or with a payment up to 6-8 euros
Irma Z — Google review
Beautiful beach, the water is clean and warm. This beach have sunloungers and they can be paid for or you could get food in the restaurant on the beach and then they are “free”. I’d say if you are visiting this beach be careful with people who are selling jewellery. Other than that everything else is great.
Gabrijela T — Google review
Amazing beach with sand that is not so fine that it sticks everywhere. Crystal clear water, beautiful surroundings and restaurants close by. Sand colored fish that swim around your feet, the small ones might bite if you have a wound and stand still, but it's not really hurtful, just surprising. I think they might be doctor fish known from spas.

SEASTAR CHANIA BOAT TOURS offers a variety of exciting experiences to elevate your holiday. Join Captain Argiris and his crew for a 3-hour boat trip along the Platanias seaside, where you can swim and jump from the boat. The tour provides an opportunity to learn about the island's history and its animal inhabitants. The friendly and professional team ensures that you have a fantastic time on their beautiful, clean, and fast boats.
We went to very nice 3 hours trip around the Theodori island. Nice experience. 30 e per adult, children 20 e. Friendly stuff. Equipment for snorkel included in the price. Great opportunity to see the Agia Marina shore from the sea and to swim in clear 4 meters deep water, there is a lot of different fishes.
Ksenia B — Google review
Loved doing a trip with Sea Star. The captain and tour guide were kind, fun and knowledgable. Well worth the money to see the wildlife on the islands and snorkel.
Anya R — Google review
We took a private boat tour for 2 hours. The boat was amazing. The tour guide was a great guy, happy, good at his job. He knew a lot about the island, the old castle, the caves and the endangered mountain goats that lives on the island. This was the best thing we did during our week on Crete.
Adam B — Google review
We booked a private 2-hour boat tour to Theodorou Island expecting a pleasant, standard cruise, but it far exceeded our expectations. It was one of the best boat tours we’ve ever taken in the Mediterranean. Our skipper and guide, Dimitris, was exceptionally attentive and patient, never rushing us and showing deep respect for the sea, nature, and wildlife. Thanks to him, we spotted three kri-kri goats, Eleonora’s falcons, and cranes (we only wished we had brought binoculars to see them even closer!). The snorkeling stop was excellent, and he even taught my wife (who had never snorkeled before) calmly and professionally. The water was full of local fish that weren’t afraid to swim right up to us. I’ve never seen anything like it before. Absolutely amazing experience and a must-do if you’re staying near Platanias.
Dzmitry K — Google review
I recently had the pleasure of experiencing a boat tour with Seastar Chania, and it was nothing short of fantastic. Although this option was more expensive than the group tours, it was worth every penny for the four-hour adventure I had with the family. Our journey began in Platanias, where we boarded a perfectly sized boat. Unfortunately, I can't recall the name of our wonderful captain, but his expertise, friendly demeanour, and humour set the tone for the day. Sailing into the Chania harbour provided a unique perspective of the city, offering us stunning views that you simply can't get from land. The highlight of our trip was island hopping and diving into the crystal-clear waters of the sea. The entire experience was both relaxing and exhilarating. All in all, they provided an unforgettable experience. The combination of a knowledgeable captain, a well-maintained boat, and the breathtaking scenery made for a perfect day out on the water. Highly recommended!
Kristjan H — Google review
My three friends and I took a three hour tour last Sunday and we couldn’t be happier. We started by contacting Sea Star online for more info and they were quick to respond and answer all our questions. You can bring your own drinks and food and they provide a cooler to store them. The boat was beautiful and comfortable. Our captain Panos was friendly and professional. He taught us about the history of the island of Thodorou as well as its animal inhabitants. We stopped at two different spots to swim and snorkel, and he provided goggles as well as a stand up paddle board. He made sure we were comfortable and having a good time. The water and views of the island were stunning. It was the best decision we made while in Crete. Highly recommended!
L G — Google review
We had an amazing experience renting a private boat for a trip around the island, including snorkeling with masks. Our captain was very knowledgeable, professional, and extremely helpful, which made the whole day even more enjoyable. We were a group of 8 people – 5 adults and 2 children (6 and 10 years old) – and everyone had a fantastic time. It was a great adventure, safe and well-organized, and truly a memorable experience. Definitely something worth recommending!
Angelika U — Google review
What incredible value. 140 euros for a private boat trip. The Captain Giannis was amazingly knowledgeable and clearly passionate about the trip. We were lucky enough to see several of the islands goats, eagles and cormorant. We scuba dived in 3 separate locations around the island. Again Giannis was really good explaining to us where to go and how to get the best out of the time. He would have stopped anywhere we wanted, but what he suggested was amazing anyway so didn't feel the need to go anywhere else. Book as early as you can as the trip can, unfortunately be disrupted if the weather is windy

Rustic Garden is a charming Greek tapas restaurant located in Agia Marina. It is known for its beautiful garden, excellent service, and delicious food. The restaurant offers a rustic and cozy ambiance, making it a perfect spot for a delightful dining experience. Visitors have praised the great service and tasty food, expressing their desire to return for another round of culinary delights.
Unforgettable experiences. The place is stunning, the staff were so friendly and the food was perfect. The small plates were generous and great to try different dishes. Especially stunning in the evening in the beautiful garden setting. Incredible great value too.

Was given this place as a recommendation. Truly blown away, not your typical Greek but Greek with a twist. Prompt service, good food, good wine, friendly staff and such a beautiful location. Suggest that you book ahead as we did because there's a constant stream of people turning up without reservations and sadly being told that there was no space. Another place that we will be visiting on our return.

Awesome dining experience. A hidden gem, close to Chania. We were quite late, but the owner greeted us very warmly. The food was something unbelievable good, very fresh and very tasty. Large portions, we really enjoyed. The garden itself is very beautiful, I like all the decorations around and trees are very beautiful. I definitely recommend this restaurant and would like to return here earlier to fully enjoy the garden and hospitality. Owner, thank you very much for the amazing evening 🤝👍

Absolutely one of the best places in the area extremely good service , the food is excellent and the mood is just amazing very authentic Greek. The food is Greek Tapas which is unique experience two people we had five small dishes including dessert which was absolutely enough . Even though they fully booked every day the service is fast and polite but you need to book a table in advanced.
Dan B — Google review
If you ever get the opportunity dine here because this place was outstanding. We had to book 2 days in advance! Everything was just a delight. The setting was lovely, service was very pleasant and the food was delish!
Rob G — Google review
The best Greek restaurant that we have ever visited. A bit untraditional style with Greek meze plates served only, and slightly - but not much - more expensive then the other normal restaurants. The scenery was really nice and even though we hadn’t reserved a table we got one anyway. But it felt a lot like luck, the waiters calendar seemed packed and she needed to check and double check that she could offer us a table before we got in. The food was really good, and their recommendation of 2-3 dishes per person was a bit overwhelming. We were 4 people, 2 adults and two teenage children and in total we shared 7 dishes. It was more than enough for us but then again we are not ”big eaters” 😊 We ordered the dishes and they decided in which order each dish was served, and they like served one at a time with some space in between to have a nice experience. When leaving, we decided that we would do a revisit before we go home and reserved a table for some days later - I guess the best review you can get 😊
Erik W — Google review
The atmosphere in the restaurant was perfect, decorations were so pretty. The food was excellent. Trio of dips was my favorite. Highly recomend going here!
Tiina L — Google review
For us this was truly a hidden gem! After planning our trip to Crete and selecting a few restaurants based on reviews, we stumbled upon Rustic Garden by mistake, since it was right near our accommodation. We went there without a reservation and they managed to place us at a shared high table (it was really nice, you can have the secluded feel even there). Firstly, the people were really friendly and professional at the same time, making us feel welcome. Second, the food was beyond words. Truly a different experience. As people who believe food is an important part of travelling, we always try to find places who offer a traditional view, but also interesing and memorable combinations. And Secret Garden hits all the marks. We were so impressed that we booked a table for the next evening, this time asking for a table near an olive tree, where the golden hour at sunset really makes everything magical. All the dishes we tried were very impressive, but the three dips with warm pita (it comes covered in a basket, so it stays warm longer) and the bacon jam that accompanies the deep fried cheese balls still bring back the memories of our cretan summer dream. Also, the shrimp saganaki made our top two shrimp dishes ever tasted and the calamari dish was as tasty as beautifully presented.

Our go-to beach spot! We always come here when we want a chill day by the sea. The beach is beautiful, the service is great, and the price-performance ratio is really good. We had a wonderful time at Gorgona Beach Restaurant. We tried the Cretan Salad and Greek Salad, both were very tasty and full of flavor. Food was great! I ordered the pepperoni pizza an it was a bomb of amazing flavours. We started with a bowl of Tzatziki and some bread. Yum yum yum. The staff are very nice and talkative. The view from the restaurant is fabulous, especially when the sun goes down. It costs more than some other restaurants in the area but with good reason. Highly recommend!

By far the best restaurant I’ve been to throughout my years of travel. The kindest and happiest waiters/waitresses I’ve ever experienced. I tried 7 different main courses and 3 different starters throughout my one week stay in Agia Marina and every single meal was a 10/10. And the view overseeing the sea is out of the ordinary. We got called in from the street side by the best guy called Alex inviting us to just have a look at the restaurant and after that we had dinner here for the remainder of our stay.
Josef M — Google review
We had lunch here twice during our stay and both times were wonderful. We ordered the Ribeye steak from Uruguay, fresh red sea bream, slow-cooked beef cheeks with gravy, chicken stew with lemon sauce, and finished with a delicious panna cotta with passion fruit syrup. Every dish was full of flavor, beautifully presented, and truly enjoyable. The variety on the menu is impressive – from fresh daily fish to high-quality beef and slow-cooked specialties. This balance is exactly what made us choose this restaurant. The staff were extremely kind, attentive, and always available whenever we needed something. The owner was also around, making sure everyone felt welcome – and we really did. The terrace is absolutely gorgeous, with a direct view of the sea, which makes it a perfect place for both lunch and dinner. They also have sunbeds on the beach, which is such a nice touch. Prices are medium to high, but the quality of the food and the atmosphere make it worth it. Dessert is also excellent – high quality and refined. for dessert, they surprised us with fresh watermelon, cantaloupe, and raki on the house 🩷 Overall, this place feels like a little piece of paradise by the sea. Congratulations to the whole team for their amazing work!
Alexa V — Google review
A really big restaurant-bar with plenty of space indoor and outdoor, umbrella and sun beds, a playground for kids and also minigolf. The grilled sea bream is amazing, portion is big as expected for Crete, price is very reasonable (18.8€), the Greek pizza is also great, we had lunch twice there in the weekends and will come back

Came for the beach beds. €5 a bed which is only in cash (seems kinda shady) especially since there were no signs. It was the easiest one to access for us and decent view. Food was okay, quite pricey. I had mussels, son had pizza and fries. Nothing special, mussels could have been flavoured better.

One of the best dining experiences in Crete so far has been at 12 Tables. The proprietor was incredibly hospitable and amiable, creating a welcoming atmosphere. Not only that, but the cuisine was delectable and beautifully presented. It felt like spending an evening among companions rather than strangers. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone seeking a memorable dining experience. Dinner was fabulous & the owner was an amazing host. Our first time in Chania and after reading great reviews we decided to give it a try. We were not disappointed! Family of 5 had dinner, dessert, & the kids decided to take more wings back to the hotel. 100% recommended!
