Maidstone Museum, located on St Faiths Street in Maidstone, is a regional museum boasting an extensive collection of over 660,000 diverse artworks and artefacts. The museum's collections cover a wide range of subjects including Old Masters, fossils, dinosaurs, Japanese artwork, and ancient Egyptians. Notably, it houses Kent's only human mummy - the 2,700-year-old Ta-Kesh. Additionally, the museum regularly hosts temporary touring exhibitions to keep the experience fresh for visitors.
This museum has always been and remains one of my favourite places to spend time in Maidstone - it is free to go in and the place is fascinating, from the historical and beautiful building it's housed in to all the exhibits themselves. As we (my son and I) hadn't been for a little while we discovered it'd had a bit of a revamp inside on this occasion; some new exhibits wonderfully laid out, lots of interactive things for any young children to discover and try out on the way around. Not forgetting of course that the story of Iggy, our local celebrity dinosaur is told along with much more of 'Kent's Earth History'. Don't forget to look up too - there's a whale on the ceiling in one area! The Ancient Egyptian exhibit is a favourite of mine; it's quite peaceful which makes it feel rather respectful too given that the Mummy of Ta-Kush is in there... there's definitely an air of quiet serenity about her. Everything is informative and well laid out throughout the museum; an eclectic mix of ancient artefacts right up to more modern history too. The staff were friendly and welcoming as we walked in out of the rain. The place is as accessible as they can get it with lifts to upper floors and ramps where possible. Obviously, given the age of the building (no doubt a listed building at that) there are some areas that have small sets of stone or wooden stairs that can't be replaced by a modern ramp but the vast majority of the displays seem to have been designed to be user friendly no matter the age or ability of who's visiting...myself included! I'm an older soul shall we say, and stairs can be my nemesis! It's a fantastic place to get lost in and we ended up in there for a good couple of hours looking at everything...absolutely loved it.

- FREE ENTRY (besides the Titanic part) - I definitely recommend the fossil section as there is some excellent specimens of dinosaurs - one to keep an eye out for is the London clay exibxit which shows some rare species of bird, fish, shark and turtle.

I made an unplanned visit to Maidstone Museum which is free to enter, and it turned out to be an informative and engaging experience. The exhibits covered a wide range of topics, from birds, insects, and animals to dinosaurs, British soldiers' history, fashion, and ancient human history. It was a fascinating mix of displays from around the world, making it a well-rounded experience. It took about 2 hours to explore, and I was thoroughly engaged throughout. It's a great place for a family visit, especially with children.
Kavin M — Google review
Nice free museum with some interactive tasks for children and separate dinosaurs area. Anglo-Saxon treasures, dinosaur bones, Japanese art, Victorian fashion, global explorer finds, military medals, taxidermy displays, paintings and sculptures.
Il D — Google review
Free museum, you need to pay for the Titanic exposition though bug it was still worth it. Diversified, organized and well presented.
Nate's T — Google review
Absolutely amazing collection of items! I spent 3 hours here looking at everything and could have spent longer if it didnt take me up to close! The current titanic exhibition is so interesting! Amazing free experience, great volunteers and so much to see!
Alice W — Google review
An amazing place to visit with kids. Lots of sections and floors and every section offers a great insight about history and different eras. We spent two hours there, could have happily spent more. No tickets needed, bery approachable from station, and offers Little activityifor kids as well. It has a a little souvenir shop too.
Dr. Z — Google review
My family and I like this museum a great deal. The only reason I give it such a low starring system is for its customer service. My father paid the museum another visit recently to visit one of its special exhibitions. Now, like all pensioners, he asked if there was a pensioner discount, in the same way NHS staff such as myself must ask if places offer an NHS discount because these discounts are not openly advertised nor revealed unless asked for. There is no harm in asking, otherwise we don't know better. The women at the desk replied back in quite a spiteful manner 'it's already cheap enough unless you want to bankrupt us.' Regardless of the hardships a museum has with funding, customers and visitors are some of your primary fund raisers, and good customer service ensures they return. This was a very upsetting comment, particularly as my father happens to probably be one of the few people in Maidstone who understands the actual value and significance of the museum's artefacts. Especially when it comes to the Japanese collection, of which Maidstone museum holds one of the biggest collections in the country! Suffice it to say, my father used to be a frequent visitor, but has since not returned. Please be kind to your visitors. It makes all the difference.

Nature & Parks
Mote Park is a vast natural space in Maidstone, offering various attractions for visitors. The park features a woodland play area, BMX track, pitch and putt course, skate park, and a serene lake where visitors can feed swans. Families can enjoy picnics and let kids roam free in the new play area while dog walkers explore the beautiful walks around the lake. Additionally, there are opportunities for adventure with high ropes and Segway rides in the Adventure Zone.
This visited this Park with friends and family. Its a huge park with good children play areas and facilities. It's a good choice to have a day trip and you will enjoy a lot here. Adventure for kids, mini golf, Family boats and kayaks, etc.. very well cleaned toilets always next to the Park Cafe. We went on a European summer fest event on a Sunday. Allover a very good experience. Parking is £3 for 6 hours.
Sandeep V — Google review
Mote Park is honestly one of my favourite places in Maidstone. It’s such a lovely spot to chill, go for walks, or just spend time with friends or family. The park is massive, with loads of open space, trees, and a beautiful lake right in the middle. It’s perfect for picnics on sunny days – you can just relax on the grass and enjoy the view. It’s also really good for kids. There’s a big playground and lots of ducks by the lake, which kids always seem to love. They even have a little machine where you can buy duck food – just tap your card and get a handful to feed them. It’s a small thing but really cute and fun, especially for families. There’s a nice café near the lake if you want a coffee or a treat, and the toilets are close by too. You can also rent pedalos or rowing boats, which is great on warm days. Loads of people go for walks, runs, or bike rides – and it still feels peaceful even though it’s close to the town centre.
Megha — Google review
Largest park in Maidstone and one of the largest in Kent. Lovely surroundings spread over several acres traversing large green spaces, lakes with boating, water sport facilities, wildlife and even some mini waterfalls. Has a miniature railway, wooded walks, nature trails, adventure playground, skate park and also a cafe. The only negative is the paid parking which can be difficult to get a space during busy periods, especially when there is an event.
E T — Google review
Gorgeous park, huge! Different things to do as well. Lovely place for a picnic. They have a little duck food dispenser where you can get the feed for the geese, ducks and swans. Was lucky enough to see a family with their babies today also 🦢
Lauren M — Google review
Really nice and big park, both dog- and child-friendly. Beautiful ponds with plenty of benches, a large playground for kids, and spaces for picnics, relaxing, and enjoying some privacy. There are many spaces in the two car parks. Not far from the car park is a decent café offering beverages and snacks. On the other side of the park, there’s a van selling ice cream and drinks. A great place for a weekend walk and to spend time with family and friends.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Mote Park is my happy place! 🌳✨ I come here all the time whenever I need a bit of calm, space to breathe, or inspiration for my art. There’s just something so peaceful about it — the lake, the trees, the open air — it feels like the whole park has its own gentle energy. I’ve had some of my best creative ideas just sitting here sketching or walking around the water. 🎨💭 It’s also amazing for families! There’s so much space for kids to play, a lovely café for a little treat, and so many spots for picnics or peaceful walks. It’s one of those rare places that’s relaxing and inspiring at the same time — perfect whether you want quiet time alone or a fun day out with your family. Every visit reminds me how lucky we are to have this gem right here in Maidstone. 🌿💚 Highly, highly recommend it to anyone who needs a little reset or creative spark!
AYSE A — Google review
A very nice and well kept park! If you are in the area you should just come and walk through.. There are boats for the kids.. or you who am I to say what you can do. It's a classic park experience just multiplied by 10, in size. There were ice creams, lovely, and there were many trees and this nice little river that ran through the beginning of the park. A tiny little waterfall. A photogenic area! Worth a visit and worth your steps. Get your 10k here

Great park to relax, walk,Run, Cycle. Dog walking etc. There is a nice pond inside, boat rides. I couldn't see the mini train but there are boards saying that there is a train inside the park. Very beautiful and calm park to enjoy a nice stroll.

Kent Life is a 28-acre countryside attraction that offers a glimpse into Kent's farming history and rural life. Visitors can explore the Vintage Village, experience life during World War II, and engage in various activities such as bottle feeding lambs, playing on the beach, riding donkeys, and enjoying an indoor soft play area. The site also features a paint-a-pot studio and opportunities to get close to farmyard animals.
We visited Kent Life recently with family. It was an incredible day had by all. Lots of parking so that's great. We thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience. It's not expensive to visit and it's a full day to enjoy yourselves. Loads to see including cute farm animals and tractor rides. They have sheep, goats, donkeys, meerkats and owls to name a few. Even snakes and spiders too. The kids cam enjoy pottery painting too. You can see the Owl Display too. That's amazing. There's food to buy onsite and tea and coffees. Nice kids soft play area that's huge. You can get lovely ice creams too. Many places to enjoy a picnic. Benches everywhere. Great to see the heritage of Kent. The old well preserved buildings and areas they grew the Hops. Like stepping back in the past. The area is beautiful and the staff are nice. Good area for kids to play too. The tractor rides are great. Kids love it. The gift shops nice too. Perfect day out. What a fantastic place to go. Will visit again many more times. Also a bonus is it's next to the river and the Malta Inn. So enjoy that great pub after.

Great place to take the kids to meet some animals. The toilette area it is for adults. It is very uncomfortable for the kids to use them as they are designed only for adults. Mainly to do school trips but recommended to go with the family. I will change my review to 5 stars if the toilette issue is resolved before the end of 2025.

My Wife and I had our wedding here on the 1st August this year. The day was perfect. Lindsay was our wedding coordinator and she was amazing. Every question or worry we had was dealt with and we honestly couldn't have asked for more. She was always on hand when we needed her and guided the day perfectly. The venue was ideal and unique, we got married in the pink chapel and had the food and party in the Wagon Store and Village Hall. Food was good and all dietary requirements were catered for and there were lots of them. Overall the whole day was perfect and all the guests commented how great Kent Life was so thank you all. Excellent value for money, can spend hours here with my 3 year old. Animals she can actually interact with, soft play, playground for varied ages, owl show, quite often there are themed events on, tractor rides and just a nice walk. Would recommend. Getting a membership really pays off too if youre going to even come 2 or 3 times in the year

We visited yesterday having booked our tickets for one of their dinosaur days a little while ago.We were greeted by two inflatable dancing dinosaurs with adults inside and started our day with an owl event (he was called Merlin) which was really interesting and informative with the owl flying right over our heads to feed, you could really feel the whoosh of its wings ! We saw all the animals in the farmyard (you can't feed these) and met Holly the guinea pig who gave us gentle nibbly kisses to our hands. We saw the various types of hens, cockerells and turkeys nearby. We strolled up the hill to feed the sheep, goats and alpacas and met an occasionally roaring but friendly Tyrannosaurus on the way much to the delight of our Grandson. We had lunch by the tea room which was very busy. There is pot painting nearby which we didn't do as our Grandson is under 3 so still a little young for that. We had a stroll down to the carousel (£3 a go) followed by the dinosaur themed magic show in the marquee which all the kids clearly enjoyed with some even invited to participate. We went to see the other lovely owls including a snowy owl which is endangered, a skunk and several meerkats who also have some young that are fun to watch playing around. We finished our day with a brief visit to see the critters and a tractor ride after a short spell queueing (no extra charge). We had a fabulous day out at Kent Life, thankyou to all of the staff.
Michele S — Google review
Perfect day out for any age. There were tractor rides, activities and talks free to attend and join as well as good information provided to give knowledge. Food was expensive but was tasty.

Took my granddaughter for the Halloween period, had a brilliant day. Plenty of activities starting almost every half an hour. The owl show was amazing. The foam disco at the end was great she’s 2 and really enjoyed it. I thought the entrance fee was very reasonable too. We enjoyed it that much I’m going again this weekend with my grandsons.
Kelly G — Google review
My 2 year old loved it here, took a short time to get used to all the animals and birds but once he got comfortable we couldn't keep him away. We fed the animals, entered all the old houses, played in the outdoor & indoor play area then finally topped off with an outdoor foam party!

Kent Owl Academy, located within Kent Life, offers owl experience days suitable for all ages. Visitors can handle, touch, and feed various birds of prey while learning about their unique personalities, hunting behaviors, and diets from the knowledgeable keepers. The academy features a barn owl that will fly from your hand and also houses a tawny frogmouth and meerkats. This family-run establishment provides an opportunity to get close to these magnificent creatures and gain insights into their natural hunting instincts.
What a wonderful experience. Syl and his team of Nick and Josh provided me with hands on experience holding various owls and imparting lots of interesting information. They were very knowledgeable and made the day absolutely fabulous. I could not have asked for more. Finishing the time with Tawny Owl flights - magnificent. I was bought a voucher as a present and then purchased an observer voucher so could take someone with to photograph my experience

An unforgettable experience! I had an amazing time at Kent Owl Academy. The staff were incredibly accommodating and went out of their way to make sure everyone felt welcome and comfortable. Their knowledge and passion for the owls really shone through—it was fascinating to learn so much about these beautiful birds. You can tell they truly care about the animals and the experience of each visitor. I left feeling inspired and grateful for such a unique opportunity. Highly recommended!
Lo R — Google review
I purchased the photography workshop as a gift for my dad, whose a twitcher, and he loved it. Me and my mum were allowed to be spectators and also really enjoyed the day with him. The birds were amazing and the staff were all very knowledgeable. It was apparent that they really care for the birds and animals they look after. Josh was able to answer all of our questions (and we asked many!). For his young age of 23 he knows a great deal about all of the birds. As my dad struggles now with energy at his age, Edward and Josh were happy to go at his pace, which he really appreciated. Id highly recommend this experience for bird photographers. The only improvement I believe they could make is to have a private area for the photography workshops, but I think space makes this difficult.

What a wonderful my partner and I had with the owl experience today. Steve, Ed and Charlotte were so friendly, caring, helpful and knowledgeable about the birds. We got to hold a few of the the owls and fly the tawny owl. Throughly recommend this fantastic experience with the brilliant team. You won't be disappointed!
Helen L — Google review
Me and my partner had such an amazing time here, handling a number of different owls and being introduced to all of their lovely birds! The staff were so lovely, and ensured we had plenty of pictures together. With the weather being so hot, it was great to know that the staff were super knowledgeable and as such were able to adapt our private experience to prioritise the safety and wellbeing of their animals, whilst also continuing to make our time there well worth while. Highly recommend!
Jade F — Google review
Bought an owl experience for a friend and her hubby, lucky me he doesn't like being near birds. Weather was against us but still had a really nice time. The flying time at the end was shorter than we were told but that was again the weather. Will definitely do as again. Loved it. Ed and Nat were really knowledgeable about there birds. Wouldn'tlet me bring one home though. Rotten

Absolutely wonderful owl experience and definitely recommend. Clearly very knowledgable staff and I learnt a lot of owl knowledge from the experience as well as handling these beautiful owls. Staff incredibly friendly too. Unforgettable and one I’ll definitely be booking again. Thanks everyone so much!

Hazlitt Theatre is a performing arts theater located in Maidstone, Kent. The theater hosts a variety of performances such as comedy, dance, drama, and family shows. If you're looking for a show to enjoy while in the center of Maidstone, Hazlitt Theatre is definitely worth checking out.
First time at this venue. Very small and felt somewhat private. Seats were comfortable and cool environment. Highly recommended and will return for other shows!
Jimmy W — Google review
Amazing staff, so helpful and friendly. But the theatre itself is a sweat box and whilst I understand old buildings can't have aircon with modern plug in units available it wouldn't be hard to at least try and manage in certain areas. Top tip if visiting.. get cup of ice from the bar if you have a long performance to get through. Do not ask for wine they serve it in a tin, charge an extortaniate amount and it is vile.
Ani E — Google review
Saw Celia Imrie talking about her new book. Theatre staff were lovely and deserve 10 out of 10 for crowd management. Unfortunately, the poor theatre could do with an overhaul, especially the seats which are old, tired and hard. Better leg room than some theatres though. Keep getting great names Hazlitt, and we'll keep coming.

All Saints Church, located in Maidstone, is a stunning example of Perpendicular Gothic architecture. Constructed in 1395 by Archbishop William Courtenay, it boasts unique features such as bays and clerestory in the nave, as well as impressive east and west windows. The church has a rich history, having been overseen by Archbishop Thomas Arundel after Courtenay's passing.
Simply wow. I go to many older churches, I find the peace within relaxing. My church is modern and I also find peace there. But older churches, have that sense of history. This is a great place to explore and find something wonderful everywhere. Look carefully and you will find the stars and stripes on George Washingtons uncles memorial.

Large church! My first time here for the kids Christmas carol. I loved being in the church. And the kids did perform so well.
Tega E — Google review
Very impressive historic church situated above the River Medway. The current building dates back to 1395 and is constructed from Kentish Ragstone. Extensive restoration took place at the end of the 19th century. The ceilings, ornate screens and striking wall paintings in the chancel date from this period, and were awaiting restoration at the time of my visit. Along with the striking stained glass windows and imposing Gothic architecture, these features set the church apart and make it well worth a visit if you're in the Maidstone area.

One of the most beautiful churches that I saw in Kent. Inside is beautiful and full of history. Part of the church faces the river... the walks around there is breath taken... the views from the top of the church to Maidstone Medway are Romantic...the graveyard and grounds are beautiful... the architecture is a classic British .. the church was builded in rag- stone material. The bell tower is lovely with a nice clock.

Nestled along the serene banks of the River Medway, this picturesque park invites visitors to enjoy peaceful strolls while soaking in stunning views and historic architecture. The pathways are perfect for leisurely walks, where you can watch boats glide through locks and take in the tranquil atmosphere. Extremely beautiful area and park is marvellous. Nice and quiet. Lovely peaceful walks. Children's play area is wonderful. Cafe is amazing. Good parking area available

A nice walk all year round. You have to be a bit careful after heavy rainfall though, as the path tends to be partially submerged. It doesn't happen often, but it's worth checking in advance if you are planning to visit after heavy storms or serious rainfall. There are plenty of waterbirds (ducks, swans, and others), and if you are lucky, you can see fish in the water. It's fun for adults and kids alike. There are boats passing on the river, giving you that sentimental feeling while you watch them. There are barriers preventing falling in the water, but a large chunk of the bank is not guarded, so you need to be really careful if you are bringing children with you. Pet owners: unless your dog has perfected a recall, keep your pet on the lead. The water is quite deep, and there are strong currents. You will not be able to rescue your dog should it jump in the water and get carried down the river. Generally though, a very nice place. Quiet and quite clean.

National Trust - Stoneacre is a 15th-century house that features a great hall, period furniture, metalwork, gardens and an orchard. The property is located in Kent and offers various activities such as vintage Christmas decorations at Chartwell from the 4th to 19th December as well as Percy the Park Keepers Winter Trail at some of the properties. Despite being situated down narrow lanes, visitors can park on a grass field near the house or use disabled parking further up.
Lovely National Trust property that is sometimes open. You can see 6 rooms across 2 floors plus their medium-sized garden. There were paper signs and volunteers in each room to provide more information. You can see in 20-30 minutes, though there is some seating in the garden to enjoy the scenery. No tea room. The car park is in a grassy field a short 2-4 minute walk - but up an incline from park to house.
Becky T — Google review
Really lovely place. The gardens were spectacular! Beautiful irises and peonies. It was a good for a couple of hours walk around. Would definitely recommend if you have National trust membership.

A little hidden gem in the Kent countryside. Not the biggest of houses in fact you could get round it in about 20 minutes. The grounds are very peaceful but yet again not the biggest but well kept. Unfortunately no cafe on site but there is one back up the road in Otham village hall. It is still a stunning property with a small team of enthusiastic welcoming staff. Car park is at the bottom of a short but steep hill. I was lucky enough to get into one of 3 disabled bays opposite the main entrance, yes I do have a badge. Certainly worth a visit if you have a spare hour or so. I enjoyed the tranquility of the place

Beautiful place. Always wanted to see it and was waiting for their opening season. It was nice to have a look inside this beautiful old house and we were told a history about this place by people who work there. All of them are very friendly and knowledgable. We were impressed by the beauty of the gardens. Loads of pathways to discover and walk around. Suitable for walk with kids. Will definitely come back again at summer time to see blooming flowers

This is an idyllic 15th century country cottage with a beautiful garden. We have visited many, many National Trust properties and this is one of the most charming. Catch it while you can! It's only open for part of the year and only on certain days of the week. Be aware that driving there takes you through narrow lanes and parking is in a field. There is quite a steep hill up to the house entrance but there is some disabled parking at the actual entrance where you can also drop off anyone who cannot quite manage walking up the hill.

The Frederic French bistro & cocktail bar features outdoor seating, as well as an adjacent patisserie and wine bar. The menu boasts a wide selection of wines, cheeses, and desserts, making it an ideal spot for breakfast, lunch, or dinner.
I had a lovely experience at Feŕdéric Bistro. The food was absolutely delicious and the service was very good. If you’re planning to visit during the weekend, I highly recommend calling ahead to check for availability, as it’s usually full — especially during breakfast hours between 9 AM and 12 PM. One minor issue: the chairs were not very comfortable, but overall, it didn’t take away from the great experience.
Ahmed F — Google review
Discovered Frederic’s whilst visiting the area. My number one spot for morning coffee. Great, friendly service and gorgeous pastry’s but try not to indulge too much. Lovely building and atmosphere. I highly recommend.
Guidge54 — Google review
We stopped by Frederic Bistro in Maidstone for lunch and had a really lovely meal. The beef bourguignon was rich, tender and full of flavour, and the chicken was great too. We shared a raspberry tart for dessert, which just melted in the mouth. The service was friendly and relaxed, and although the atmosphere was fairly casual, the open kitchen at the back gave it a nice, unique touch. We hadn’t booked but managed to get a table just by turning up — the place was quite busy, which says a lot! For two mains, one dessert and a drink each, the bill came to about £60 before tip, and we added 10%. Great food, good value, and a really pleasant lunch overall. We’ll definitely go back.

We called in advance as were attending the Hazzlitt theatre and were offered a discounted 2 course meal. Myself and my partner wanted to make sure it was wheelchair accessible, which it very much was and they made sure to book a table that would be appropriate. The food came out very quickly and was delicious. The servers were all very kind, though it seemed they did not communicate as we were served by multiple people doing the same things at times. Wonderful atmosphere and would be keen to return.

The best French restaurant I have been in England. Their casual atmosphere with friendly staff made you feel welcome and relaxed. Their pastries are super nice too.
Sheila W — Google review
I only left a star off for service because the two head waiters were so busy chatting with returning customers I presume which is always a good sign. The food is scrumptious for a discerning tongue focusing on quality over quantity, ensuring that you make at least the three courses all of which delicious. Perfect place for a celebration or like us just out for a casual jaunt . Highly recommend 👍

We had lunch here today to celebrate our wedding anniversary. The food was great, very tasty and the service was excellent, Katy was very attentive and accommodating. We both thoroughly enjoyed it. We choose prawns in red Thai curry sauce and scallops without the hammock croquette as I don't eat meat. We then had confit shoulder of lamb and stonebass, and we managed to find room for a vanilla parfait and a chocolate delice. Only one coffee as they unfortunately don't do decaffeinated. The Kent white wine was delicious and the cider had a good balance to it. We look forward to eating here again.

I just got my order and the box was partly open and my chips were missing I had about 5 chips in rhe box. £15 for cod and 5 chips, not impressed at all! The delivery man tried to give me the open box and run and when I pulled him up he admitted the chips where spilt in his delivery box strapped to his bike!

Wonderful seafood Resteraunt - elegant a la carte service - well cooked and presented food - only marked the atmosphere down as there was one particularly loud guest who seemed to have little consideration for others in the room which slightly spoiled a birthday meal, as the dining room was all open plan there was no hiding from anyone else’s noise - otherwise perfect evening

Nice place, full of families during a summer time, what makes this place very special and unique. Car park available. Prices for 6h £2 or all day £12. We loved visiting wooden playground. It is designed like a castle. There is a separate section for toddlers and another for older children. There are a few slides, climbing ropes, and swings - plenty to keep the kids busy. Everything was in great condition with no broken parts, and the whole area was clean and well maintained. I also appreciated the many benches around the park, which makes nice to have lots of spots for families to sit and enjoy their time. We will definitely be back!

We recently returned for a second time for our annual family picnic. Great place to meet and set up as a large group of adults and children. Some shade from many trees. A good place for a game of rounders and football. Ample parking reasonably priced if you go for the first option which if I recall is £2 for 5 hours and then add more time (rather than the longer option which is £15 I think) - this was on a Sunday so check. Play park for younger children. Toilets were clean and well stocked. Great for a day out.

Lovely park. Great for 3+ years Different areas make it possible to have a little wander and then the kids can have a little play. There's a nice cafe. There are toilets. Car park spaces are a good size. It doesn't cost too much to park there all day. It's a popular place but not overly busy.We have been a couple of times now and I'd go again. I would like to see them include more things for babies/toddlers.

Nestled in the quaint village of Boughton Monchelsea near Maidstone, Kent, The Curious Eatery is a charming rustic-style restaurant run by two food-loving sisters. Open from Tuesday to Sunday, this eatery offers delectable homemade cakes and a variety of coffee options. Their menu features gluten-free choices and boasts an array of unconventional and seasonal dishes made with organic local ingredients and fresh herbs.
Love this place so much. I have eaten here many times with my wife but i was fortunate to also photograph a wedding there just before xmas. Such a nice place, first time here and will be back more often. The food is awesome we had beef to share between 4! Both our waitresses were lovely, looking forward to going back.
The M — Google review
It’s great. I have an issue with our rural lunch spots limiting themselves to panini’s, jacket potatoes and maybe a sausage roll so eating here is a breath of fresh air. The menu consists of (but not limited to); a kind of Vegan bliss bowl, venison cottage pie, awesomely large quiche (which most diners seemed to reach for that particular day) and the obligatory over priced burger, which was very good. So I took the burger which came with chunky chips seasoned to perfection and a very good homemade coleslaw. Yes at £13 quid it’s on the expensive side, you could eat a five guys, or even the Ivy for a similar price but it’s not a bad burger and the patty was great so I got over it. Other dishes were very reasonably priced in my opinion, I tried the venison which was cooked very well, as was the large quiche which was peppered in veg as well to really a meal out of it. Last item our group ate was the risotto balls (arancini) which really was top drawer with its xo sauce. I can’t stress how good the risotto balls are. If I really had to criticise the menu one vegan option in today’s world is not really fair but that’s digging deep to criticise. So yeah, eat here. I’ll be very surprised if you walk out disappointed. It’s very nicely decorated, Staff are friendly, the head chef made a point of sticking her head out as we left to say thanks. All these things make for a very pleasant experience.

The waitress decor and atmosphere was lovely but as for the food..! Tiny portions basics menu option made to look pretty but basic bland flavour. Beef and ale stew tiny portion, meet was dry chewy, Aldi microwave wave option was better had more and was cheaper ! Puddings were tiny sooo tiny my wife liked her balti pie but for £20 was way too small £77 for what we had I feel was a complete rip off!! Go for a drink or a snack but don’t eat here !!

I'm not even sure where to start! Nicole and her team catered our very small wedding in October this year. They were simply outstanding. We knew the food was going to be amazing as we have eaten in the restaurant many times. The creativity of the chefs and the really friendly and professional team never fail to disappoint. The food at our wedding was no exception - it was outstanding. Such delicious flavours and a range of seasonal produce which looked beautiful and tasted amazing. Everyone was blown away. Not only was the food outstanding, the serving team were second to none. They made us feel so well looked after throughout the entire day. We had a slight wedding cake disaster on the day, (nothing to do with Curious Eatery) but the CE team really kindly stepped up for us and prepared a delicious alternative with the most minuscule amount of notice. We cannot thank you enough!!

The Mall Maidstone is a contemporary shopping center featuring popular clothing and footwear stores, as well as various dining options. While some visitors noted that the mall appeared slightly outdated with a few vacant shops, recent updates have brought in new and interesting shake and bubble tea options, along with small art stalls. The addition of a toy shop has further diversified the retail offerings. The mall provides amenities such as clean restrooms, a free parent and child area, and a play area for toddlers.
I absolutely love visiting our local mall in Maidstone! It truly has everything you need, from fantastic shopping options to a great variety of dining choices. The atmosphere is always welcoming, and I appreciate how clean and well-maintained the entire place is. The staff at the stores are always friendly and helpful, making my shopping experience even more enjoyable. Whether I’m looking for the latest fashion, electronics, or simply a cozy spot to relax and grab a coffee, this mall has it all. Definitely a top destination in Maidstone for anyone looking to have a great day out!

Absolutely disgraceful security guards. Today in the mall I was walking through with a group of my friends with skateboards(not riding them) and then a security guard of yours had assaulted me, he was again, dark hair and abut 5'5, he agressivly layed his hands on me and had grabbed my shirt causing a mark to be made on my arm, he then proceeded to shove me hard which made me fall over and injure myself. Absolutely unacceptable, get this awful man gone

A standard shopping centre, which at time of visit late 2017, seemed a bit outdated with a few empty shop spaces. Good parking. Could do with another set of toilets facilities on the King's Street side maybe. 2022 updated visit and not a huge amount has changed, but have a few more interesting shake and bubble tea options available now, along with small and interesting art and stalls all of, which earn The Mall an extra 🌟. When more shops fill the centre, it'll earn another star

The car park cost £4.10 for 30 minutes on a Saturday. Absolute daylight robbery! Scandalous. I wonder why the high street is dying?? Shops are ok thats why I gave it more than 1 star.

If you need to buy something basic. You can come to this shopping centre they have budget shops only, like Wilko, Boots, Superdrug’s , New look, the sport direct, few fast food chain restaurants, 3 to 4 coffee stores, 3 hair dressers, the butchers , Poundland, iceland, a playground, parking, the toilets are restricted you can not find them in every floor you have to go to a specific level to use a toilet. I went there last weekend and the Mall had a very horrible odour... I left in seconds. They should improve the stores, is been refurbished recently looks much better than before 😉

Nestled within the historic 14th-century stables of the Archbishop's Palace complex, The Tyrwhitt-Drake Museum of Carriages offers a captivating glimpse into the world of horse-drawn transport. This remarkable museum showcases an impressive collection of over 60 unique vehicles, including grand carriages, ornate sleighs, and antique sedan chairs.
I wasn't expecting this museum to be (a) free, and (b) so full of fantastic coaches. I am certainly no expert, but I do love a good museum. This was a superb museum and I came away wanting to know more about coaches. NB horse and people pulled coaches and not "bus" type coaches. Also no toilets on site.

What a fabulous place! Firstly the wonderful staff were very accomodating - letting the Bellringing Motorcyclists use their forecourt to park for an hour. Then quite a few of us took a few minutes to have a look inside and were amazed at the collection of really old horse and carriage 'coaches'. I wish I could have spent more time looking round the two floors because it was so fascinating. It's free too - but please leave a donation to help them keep this open. Thank you Lyndsey and Ian for being such wonderful staff!

Very small but very interesting place. All extremely old and fragile. One carriage still functional once a year for the Mayor. Very beautiful carriages considering they are very old and tattered. Children get a bobbing horse to ride on while looking around!
J&N M — Google review
This is such an asset to our town, Maidstone which really should be more well known. The carriage date from the late 17th to the late 19th century and shows the development of transport during that period. They are housed in the old stables of the Archbishop's Palace which is interesting in itself. Really worthy of a visit.

Nestled between the Archbishop's Palace and All Saints Church, the Infirmerers Garden was historically used to grow medicinal plants for pilgrims traveling between London and Canterbury. Recently restored by the Kent Gardens Trust, it now offers a tranquil retreat behind its high stone walls. The impressive Archbishop's Palace complex, once a rest stop for traveling archbishops, features 14th-century architecture with 16th-century additions and now serves as the town's registry office.
Wonderful place and also the Office for Registrar of Kent. Spacious and well maintained for official purposes like the citizenship ceremony. Visitors can also enjoy dining at various eateries such as Frankie and Bennys, The Feathers, and Harrys Kitchen. Additionally, the venue hosts a market and boot fair on Tuesdays and Saturdays.
A lot has changed here over the last 20 years or so. From nightclubs to bars and restaurants. What’s on in here now seems to be going pretty well. I really like coming here for the food court. They have some great street food traders here. My favourite has to be the Thai food. Upstairs you have gravity, odeon cinema and Hollywood bowl. Gravity is really overpriced for what it is unfortunately. Hollywood bowl and odeon cinema can be good days out for the family. Just keep an eye online as they usually have good deals on certain days. Definitely worth visiting and keeping an eye online on the website for when they have markets and special events. Lockmeadow do really need to help promote the small food traders in the food court in my opinion though.

Constantly evolving complex. Lots to do. Great selection of food in the food court ensuring groups with different tastes can still eat together.

We actually visited here for an event that was held in the Market Hall on a Saturday. The car park is large enough. However, they hold a market in part of it on Saturdays. Nothing wrong with that, but why oh why do they have to put stalls on top of some the disabled bays? Ok, so you can park in any space & display your Blue Badge. The point of a disabled bay is that they are set out with enough room between spaces to allow the door to be fully opened or to allow a wheelchair between vehicles - this just is not possible in a 'normal' space

First time here. Food stalls looked empty with staff lolling around and messing about. Dark and dank atmosphere inside. Very dirty toilets on ground floor. Generally, a rubbish vibe. Outside seemed ok with kids playing in the sun etc.

Nestled in the picturesque county of Kent, Leeds Castle offers a journey through time, from medieval chambers fit for a queen to the opulent 1920s. The castle boasts stunning gardens, golf courses, thrilling zip slides, and captivating falconry displays. In addition to Leeds Castle, Kent is home to other remarkable attractions such as Hever Castle, childhood home of Anne Boleyn; Canterbury Cathedral; and The Historic Dockyards Chatham.
Where do I begin? Me and my Wife visited Leeds Castle while spending time in Kent for a few days and wow! We were not expecting this castle to be amazing. The grounds are absolutely huge with plenty of sculptures to see and lots of beautiful wildlife and nature to explore. We arrived around 11am and we're welcomed by the kind and friendly staff who were very informative and friendly. Gave us plenty of information about the castle and the grounds We were taken away by how stunning the whole land is. Absolutely gorgeous landscape. There was plenty to see and do around the castle before entering the main castle. We went to the castle to explore all the rooms that were on display before making our way to the gardens and then the maze with an underground grotto in the middle. It was great fun and we got lost a few times in the maze haha. There was plenty of toilet facilities including baby facilities if required. Gift shops and a cafe to get a drink and some food if you want We will definitely be coming back as you pay once for the whole year and you can come back as many times as you want

I had a truly fantastic trip to Leeds Castle. This place is awesome—it genuinely feels like a jewel in a crown. While the entry cost is significant, it is absolutely worth the price because there is SO MUCH TO DO, making it an easy full-day trip. Even better, your ticket allows you to return for a whole year! The grounds are magnificent and incredibly varied, featuring beautiful hilly areas, serene lakes, and varied walled garden areas. Don't miss the maze, the epic-looking children's playground, the Birds of Prey display, and the unique and fun Dog Collar Museum (the only one, I believe!). Inside the castle is amazing, filled with great displays and information. What really stands out is the clear investment and the incredible staff. The whole operation is so well-organized, and there are countless staff members who were universally friendly, kind, and helpful. The café was especially great! The food was good, and the Lemon Drizzle Cake was absolutely sublime—a perfect break during the day. Plus, you can buy duck food in the gift shop—a small touch, but very fun for feeding the birds! Highly, highly recommend this incredible historical gem.

Wow, Leeds castle was stunning. Set in the countryside, the drive up to the castle you knew it was going to be spectacular and we weren't disappointed. The grounds are stunning. It just got better and better, the Maze, Falconry, castle. The food was good here and the restaurant was superb. There was a boat ride available on the lake, Go-Ape, play areas. You could easily spend a day here. The staff were polite and knowledgeable and the castle itself is steeped in history.

An absolute gem — the most beautiful castle in the UK! If you’re visiting Kent or anywhere in the UK, this is the castle you can’t miss. What makes it truly special isn’t just the castle itself, but the breathtaking landscape surrounding it — every view feels like a postcard. There’s something here for everyone: an incredible adventure play area for kids of all ages (the maze is a must!), a stunning collection of birds, and a truly entertaining eagle and owl show that keeps both adults and children mesmerized. Take your time strolling through the gardens and woodlands on your way in — and on your way back, hop on the charming little train or relax on the scenic boat ride. Both are experiences in their own right. The castle grounds have plenty of great dining options, from cozy cafés to proper restaurants, so you won’t have to worry about food. Plus, they host brilliant seasonal events throughout the year — whether it’s a medieval festival, light trail, or Christmas market, there’s always something new to enjoy. The ticket you buy gives you unlimited entry for a full year — which is perfect, because once you’ve been, you’ll definitely want to come back. Ample of free car park. I suggest booking your entry ticket online in case it's busy.

Leeds Castle is absolutely breathtaking — a true fairytale setting surrounded by beautiful gardens and a serene lake. The castle is rich in history and wonderfully preserved, offering fascinating exhibits and lovely walks around the grounds. The location is peaceful, and the atmosphere feels magical from the moment you arrive. A must-visit in Kent and one of the most beautiful castles in England!

Absolutely stunning castle afloat it's moat. Beautiful gardens as well, especially the Mediterranean area. Enjoyed seeing all the various sculptures around the gardens. Lots to see and do. Fun maze to get lost in. The castle itself is amazing and beautiful inside. Had a lovely chat with one of the volunteer guides. He informed us that sadly no black swans currently at the castle due to avian flu 🥲. You can have a boat trip on tge lake but this costs extra on top of the admission price!
Valerie H — Google review
We stayed in accommodation on site, marvelous location for a three night stay. Beautiful landscape and gardens, use of all facilities on site during our stay, castle is a fascinating place to visit with lovely walks in the grounds, a visit to the birds of pray is a good choice. All the staff are amazing and friendly and helpful.

Lovely historic castle with plenty of interest other than the main building, beautiful grounds and lakes, there's a small road train shuttle from near the entrance to the castle, which is about a ten minute walk from the entrance, £1.50 each way. The falconry display is a must, the staff that do this are very knowledgeable about their subject, and don't forget to duck !! 😃 All in all a great day out. Oh and dont forget the small lake ferry and maze.

A nice park with lots to see and do, e.g. tree-too walk, skate park, etc.
Sylvia H — Google review
Great park for the kids. The addition of the new skate park is cool. Love the boardwalk through the trees. My son loves fishing for tadpoles at the pond in spring (always put back in the pond afterwards when we leave). And we really enjoy the concerts at the amphitheatre. We regularly walk or cycle to this park via the lovely Millennium route. The only let down is the public toilets - filthy and dangerous as they're often used by 'undesirables' doing drugs (and other things!) in there.
Nicola C — Google review
I don't think we walked round the whole place. No parking available so find somewhere around the area. Plenty of access to and from Maidstone centre. The park is situated right next to Maidstone West station. A pleaant place to spend an hour in the sun with a busy river Medway running parallel with the park. We loved the little park, with the swings and sand for the little ones. Didn't see the Bigger park lol.

Really well maintained and looked after park, lots of routes and interesting points of interest. Big enough that it doesn't feel like you're in the middle of Maidstone.

A lovely short walk to the lake past 220 year old trees. The pond is a pack place to sit and enjoy the ducks, geese and other water birds. Be sure to bring duck food as the park is apparently monitored with instructions not to feed bread.

Buttercups Sanctuary for Goats is a charming destination that offers a serene escape into the world of these lovable animals. Upon arrival, visitors are warmly welcomed by friendly staff who provide an overview of the sanctuary's operations. Entry is free, with a suggested donation to support the goats' care. The sanctuary features a cozy café where you can grab reasonably priced snacks and drinks, making it perfect for a leisurely day out.
Came here with my partner and dog at the weekend. We hadn’t been before but a staff member greeted us and explained how it all worked. She was very friendly and enthusiastic which was a nice way to be welcomed. Entry is free with a recommended donation of £5 - can be paid in cash or card. There is a small cafe on site which was very reasonably priced too. It is dog friendly but dogs must be on short leads at all times. Would not recommend for reactive dogs but the more docile dogs would be fine. The goats were curious and would look at our dog but kept their distance. The goats were all healthy looking and no signs of any distress - they seemed to really enjoy the company and treats. They are clearly well looked after. You can buy some feed and feed them through a fence; which we did and was fun. Was here for about 90 minutes and would recommend for a cheap visit - especially for kids.
Ella K — Google review
I loved this place. It is perfect for people of all ages. Interacting, feeding and stroking the goats was so much fun. There were so many different breeds and they were all bonkers!! People in wheelchairs were also able to get amongst the goats which was great. There is also a little shop where you can buy souvenirs or even choose to sponsor a goat. Definitely recommended.

A recent visit to Buttercups Goat Sanctuary with friends proved to be a calming experience. From the moment we arrived, we were struck by the beautiful setting and the palpable sense of peace that permeated the sanctuary. It's clear that the goats are the priority here. They have ample space to roam, play, and express their individual personalities. Observing them, it was evident that they are genuinely loved and well cared for. The sanctuary provides a wonderful environment for these charming animals. The staff and volunteers we encountered were incredibly friendly, welcoming, and helpful. Their passion for the goats and the sanctuary was evident, and they were happy to answer our questions and share their knowledge. The sheer variety of goats was a joy to behold – so many different shapes, sizes, and characters! It was simply lovely to spend a few hours in such a tranquil setting, enjoying the company of these gentle creatures. Buttercups Goat Sanctuary offers a wonderful opportunity for a few hours of peace, calm, and fun. I thoroughly enjoyed my visit and will certainly be returning soon, this time with my grandchildren, to share this special place with them. Highly recommended for anyone seeking a heartwarming and relaxing experience.

Amazing little place. Really lovely to visit and the goats are all so cute. They are well looked after and you can purchase bags of goat food to feed them. You can also go into the pens and see them and stroke them. Such a brilliant place to go it.

A delightful place where you can chill out with goats! As we arrived a member of staff explained everything. It's £5 entry for adults, and this allows you to enter the goats enclosure. There is a gift shop where you can buy drinks and snacks. For £1 you can purchase a bag of goat food. We went into the main enclosure to see the goats first. Most are friendly and appreciate a scratch or tickle. Some have red collars to identify they can be a little unpredictable, so we let them do their thing unless they came up to us and wanted to be petted. There are several benches which we made use of and just watched the goats. A few were inquisitive and came up to us to say hello. After a while in the enclosure, we purchased drinks and crisps from the shop and sat on the benches in the goat free area. That was until a couple of the young goats who could fit under the fence came to join us. They literally sat on our table 😂 All the staff were amazing and told us about the different goats. Before we left, we purchased some goat food, and you can feed the goats from outside the fence. We had been made aware not to feed goats with purple collars due to dietary restrictions. We really loved our visit and will definitely be returning. It's such a nice way to spend a couple of hours. Think we have made a few goat friends. 🐐

My husband and I took our nearly 4 year old grandsons after reading the reviews. It was a warm sunny afternoon. Parking was easy, (on a Monday of the school summer holiday) The parking machine is located in front of the toilets. You need to tap your registration number in and costs £2 for the day. However the toilets smelt badly and that was from outside! There was a snack wagon on the edge of the car park. But takes card only! The playground could have been better and really a separate area for younger and older children. There was a climbing type frame with slide attached, which our grandsons could manage, some swings for younger and older children, a small wooden type tent and not much more. The grass area near the car park was popular with table/benches. Good area for a picnic and to play outdoor games. We walked through gates and passed the cows who took no notice of us, but beware of the cow pats! Walking along to the lock which our grandsons loved to see and then continuing to walk where there were places our grandsons could throw stones and sticks in the river. Their favourite thing at the moment. There were some muddy areas and it hasn’t rained for a while so would imagine it could get very muddy in the colder months. The pathways weren’t proper paths and more wild than tame. We saw some people fishing and a couple of canoes and rowing boats But our grandsons loved it and said they had a lovely day ☺️

Such a lovely space. We enjoyed walking around the main area and down to the weir and through the forest area to the bridge. Definitely want to come back for a whole day, we saw lots of groups of people on the grass with friends and family and gazebos..... such a great idea! Daughter loved the playground and the wooden animals/features. Lots of benches and spaced all around the main park. Toilets were closed when we tried to go before leaving, tough when you have a 6 year old who had been drinking a lot due to the warm weather!

What a lovely place to spend a Sunday morning. £2 for the hole day to park your car. A very well maintained WC. Great outdoor park for the children. Horses and cows grazing round one of the walks.A very interesting lock to take a look around down on the river. People were setting off paddle boarding and kannooing too. We had a lovely stroll down stream, then onto the massive field with plenty of benches to sit and chill out. Highly recommended place for a bit of quiet time.

White Horse Wood Country Park, located near Maidstone, offers a perfect day out for the whole family, including furry members. The park features a 0.7-mile easy access trail with exceptional panoramic views of the surrounding countryside and a late Bronze Age enclosure. Visitors can explore the medieval ruins of Thurnham Castle and enjoy picnics in the picturesque area near the car park.
If you're in the Maidstone area, this is a good place to take a breath of fresh and and go for a wander. Great panoramic views, the ruined walls of an ancient castle... and two lorry trailers dumped in the forest (for some unknown reason). Some of the more narrow routes have nettles and briars (so avoid "the path less traveled" unless you're wearing long trousers.

This is a lovely open country park at the top of Detling hill. It’s never really busy here and there is lots of open space for walking the dogs or letting the children run around. There is a nice walk through the wooded area as well. At the far end you have the remains of Thurnham castle to explore which was apparently first owned by William’s the conquerers brother. It’s a very interesting site to explore. Only downside is there are no facilities here no cafe, shop or toilets so bear this in mind if you plan to stay for a while. However there is a few picnic tables and lots of open space to have a quiet picnic.
Daniel — Google review
Lovely woodland walk, and fantastic views from high above Detling and Bearsted. There's not enough left of Turnham Castle to be of much interest to most people, but the information boards give you a good idea of how it looked and it's purpose. Lots of picnic benches near the carpark. Great for a snack and a coffee after your walk! Reasonable carparking, charged for the day.

Great place to walk the dog on any day of the year, plenty or parking, pay for parking using an app. Mobility scooters would be needed to get around the whole park. Paths are of hard compacted gravel, mostly on the level. Unpowered wheelchairs will need a fit and healthy pusher. Nice large picnic area by the main carpark area, beautiful views of Detling and surrounding countryside as far as Bearsted and Maidstone beyond on a clear day. No toilets or cafe here, dog waste bins at regular intervals only litter bin is at the main carpark, none anywhere else. Vehicle height restriction is 6ft 6 inches. In the summer the carprk closes at 8pm, £50 fine if you stay later than closing time. To get to the ruined castle, you have to cross a single lane road. Be careful if the dog is of the lead. We'll worth a visit

Have visited Mereworth a few times now, it’s been great to see the venue grow over the years. Having spotted an advertisement for the Latin Jazz night we were keen to book. Upon arrival we were greeted by the friendly team and promptly shoved around a corner, with the view of a brick wall, a member of staff relocated us to the neighbouring table before other guests arrived so we actually had a view of the band. The food was okay (the beef tortillas were good) but the rest felt a little bit like a cost cutting exercise rather than a menu choice for the evening, Also when creating such menu it surprises me that there were so many dishes which create such a messy hands considering people would be dressing up for the occasion. The drinks (as always) were great and eventually during the final song from the band a table in the main area left so we were able to feel included and actually feel like we got a bit of value for money for our ticket price for one song at least but felt that the venue could benefit more from focusing on guest experiences rather than ticket sales as quite frankly with our original table placement we’d have had a far superior experience sat at home listening to “Latin Jazz” on Spotify drinking great wines and eating better than “ok” food than what was on offer. There we some guests sat outside and I’d be curious to know if they had paid the same ticket price as us considering they had an identical experience to what we had.

Visited with family for "jazz brunch" (6 of us). Staff are friendly and there's a nice informal atmosphere. Brunch menu ranges from the full-English style "Mereworth Breakfast" which was tasty, with quality sausage and bacon, to waffles which were delicious for those of us with a sweet tooth. Prices are reasonable (£100 for six people including coffees etc). The jazz was a little loud on arrival - it was difficult to hear each other - but later the volume was turned down to a much more relaxed level for Sunday brunch. Well done, team Mereworth, keep up the great work. I look forward to returning.

Lovely atmosphere, lucky to have this gem on our doorstep. Attended the tour last year, would recommend both the tour and restaurant.

Such a great idea from the guys at the winery. Beautiful setting both inside and outside, with tables at the front in the sun. We had one inside for me and my two friends and it’s a lovely place. We went for the Sunday jazz. I had the avo and halloumi on toast which was super tasty and a coffee while my friends had the 2021 fizz. Very definitely worth a visit. My only feeling is the value for money - my main plate and a coffee came to £16.30, so while not crazy expensive I also wouldn’t describe it as great value for money, but it must be very hard to run something like this and make a profit so not moaning too much about it. Definitely worth a visit and next time will be trying the alcohol!!

Group of four popped into the cafe for a coffee but three of the group fancied a bite to eat after looking at the menu. All three chose the rosti with bacon, egg and hollandaise sauce. They all thought it was delicious with one saying it was probably his best breakfast EVER !!😋😋

Gallagher Stadium is a modern sports facility with an artificial 3G pitch, serving as the home ground for Maidstone United. It is considered one of the best facilities in its league in the UK. The stadium features a club bar and hosts various attractions nearby, including All Saints Church, Lockmeadow Centre, Medway Towpath, Nature Trail, and Whatman Park. Additionally, it provides training opportunities for pan-disability teams.
Cracking stadium with great amenities. Very clean, tidy and professionally run. Staff are always happy, friendly and go out of there way to be helpful. Has a lovely bar and the food from the burger hut is absolutely top notch along with the girls that run it. They are always happy, friendly and the service is first class. Went here to attend a charity football match with the motorcycle group I run and I can't thank the staff enough for their help and professionalism when it came to getting our bikes parked on site safely and securely. Would highly recommend to anyone.

This was my first ever visit to the Gallagher Stadium. Disappointed with the entry price of £15 per adult, and £7 for my 16 year old. I guess this is the consequence of Maidstone being relegated last year, staying as a full-time team in the hope of getting promoted straight back up. It’s simply too much at this level. The programme was spot on at £2, good value. Next moan was the segregation. 96 travelling Slough fans and we are squeezed into a quarter of the North End Stand. I fully understand that there was trouble with Weymouth fans at the previous home game, but, I’m a creature of habit, and when I visit a new ground I like to walk all the way around it to get a feel of the place, and also be at the end my team is attacking. A big plus was the excellent stewards who were very friendly and helped point out where everything was. He also explained exactly why we had been segregated. In all it’s a great Stadium. I liked the steep terracing we were put in, something that Arbour Park sadly lacks.

Roundoak Farm is a charming working farm that specializes in the breeding of rare sheep breeds, including Hebridean, North Ronaldsays, and the elusive Boreray. In addition to their unique sheep, they also raise rare breed cattle such as Vaynols, White Parks, Irish Moiled, and Highland Cattle. The site offers a peaceful atmosphere with pitches that overlook picturesque fields.
We had an amazing stay at Roundoak Farm, spending the night in our van on their campsite! The highlight was definitely the farm tour — it was such a special experience to see all the animals up close and learn so much about them and the farm itself. They went out of their way to make the tour fit into our tight schedule, which we really appreciated. Everyone was incredibly kind and welcoming. A special treat was getting to see our sponsorship calf in person on every walk to the sanitary facilities. Highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a peaceful and authentic countryside experience.

A great little find, Norman and Ruth were very informative and helpful. Their family were also working in site and were very friendly. The facilities were ideal with different options to choose from for the loo and showers. We didn't want to leave the farm as it was so peaceful and tranquil, just the sound of the farm animals in the background. The pitches are well spaced out so you are not on top of each other and every pitch has a great view of the countryside. They even opened the bar for an couple of hours which was a nice touch. Would definitely recommend and we cant wait to go back

We booked for the Highland Cow and afternoon tea experience. We had such a great time meeting all of the cows and other farm animals. We enjoyed a couple of fun buggy rides between the two farms, covering a fair bit of ground. Duke, the Highland bull, was very obliging with allowing us to stroke him, as were many of the other breeds. The tour was really informative and we learned so much about the different breeds. The private afternoon tea in the barn afterwards was a really special moment. The tea was set up beautifully with a roaring fire, fairy lights and a really cosy, romantic feel. The food was delicious and nicely presented. Thank you so much to the team for making our trip so lovely and memorable. Highly recommended experience.

I was gifted the Cow Experience at Roundoak Farm for my 21st birthday, and it was absolutely amazing! We all had such a brilliant time meeting the cows and learning more about them, they’re such gentle, curious animals and it was a real joy to spend time with them. Guy, who led the experience, was fantastic. He was knowledgeable, funny, and made us feel completely at ease from the moment we arrived. He answered all of our questions and clearly has a real passion for what he does. I would 100% go back and definitely recommend the experience to anyone; whether you love animals, are looking for a unique gift, or just fancy doing something different.
Joshua K — Google review
Our stay here was amazing. From the start we were greated by Norman upon arrival and shown to our pitch and the facilities. This is a very peaceful site and adults only with stunning views. Norman and Ruth are great hosts. The toilets and shower facilities are immaculate with hot water and very clean. Washing up facilities are also very good. If you are looking for a child free, quiet site then this is what you are looking for. Pitch sizes are perfect. We had a non hook up pitch which is what we like so can be away from people apart from going to the facilities. The animals are an added extra especially Steven the sheep.
Mark C — Google review
Great little quiet site with pitches overlooking fields. Owner was very accommodating and helpful upon our arrival and even took the time to show us around the rare breed animals which are situated next to the site. The surrounding quiet country lanes are ideal for walking, (St Peter's and St Paul's Church at East Sutton is definitely worth the trek, with it's beautiful little churchyard). The site is advertised as a CL (non members accepted), so facilities on site are very basic, but functional. A wooded area with fairylights is a nice touch for an evening stroll.
Jules C — Google review
All I can say is I wish we booked for longer, it’s beautiful, peaceful and very welcoming, Gary who welcomed us in was very welcoming and passionate about the farm and the work he does! we spoke to Norman the owner (I might of forgotten that we had to pay cash) who was of course very lovely! And very helpful even if I had to phone him at 8am in the morning and disturb him in Scotland (sorry!!) I Would honestly recommend this site to anyone, It was home away from home for us as we came from the West Country! Don’t forget that Kent has beautiful country side too,

An extraordinary place. I've never been to a working farm quite like it! Such a friendly welcome by owners and a range of options to park our campervan - we loved the field round the back overlooking sheep and highland cows. Beautiful wood (lit by fairy lights (honestly!)) to walk the dog around.

Thurnham Castle, a captivating remnant of medieval history, is nestled in the scenic White Horse Wood Country Park near Maidstone, Kent. This 11th to 12th-century bailey castle was originally constructed by Robert de Thurnham and served as a lookout post during WWII. While much of the structure has succumbed to time, visitors can still appreciate its historical significance through the remaining earthworks and masonry.
A beautiful little historic location worth seeing if trekking over the North Downs Way! Take care if walking when wet.
Andy W — Google review
Thurnham Castle is a ruined medieval fortress in Kent, England, near Maidstone. Built in the 12th century by Robert de Thurnham, it was likely a motte-and-bailey castle made of stone. The castle fell into decline by the 13th century and is now in ruins, with only earthworks and some masonry remains visible. It is located within White Horse Wood Country Park. It's a rainy day for this trip, if you are going like we were to take boots or higher shoes and prepare for muddy puddles and grass.
Aga K — Google review
It's a castle whats not to like. You can park right by it or take the longer and steeper route. Remains of a ringwork, also known as Godards castle.

There isn't much left in the way of ruins , but if you enjoy a nice walk and lovely views then it's worth a visit. The walk around White Horse Country Park where the ruins are situated is lovely for humans and dogs
Alison W — Google review
Good for a quick look at, there isn't much but one to tick off a list. Nice views of the surroundings. I recommend avoiding if it has rained. Plenty of room for 5 cars up top to park at the roadside.
MGX93dot — Google review
This medieval castle located in White Horse Wood country park. No much of the ruins left, but very beautiful view of the valley from the hill. FIrst owner is believed to be Ralph de Courbépine, a tenant of Bishop Odo of Bayeux (brother of William the Conqueror). Stephen de Thurnham, great grandson of Ralph de Courbépine, held the manor in the 12th Century. By the 14th Century the manor had passed to the Northwood family and then to Robert Corbie. The castle was abandoned by the 15th Century for Corbier Hall, south-west of Thurnham village. Chalk quarrying damaged the site in later centuries. In 1999 Kent County Council, with support from the Heritage Lottery Fund, English Heritage, RLCI, Maidstone Borough Council and Thurnham Parish Council, acquired the castle in order to conserve it and make it accessible. On our visit there, we have parked on the road not far from the entrance. Although, if you intend to go for a long stretch, after visiting castle, you better park in the car park, which located near by, across the road from castle and 10 min walk afterwards through the field.

Hucking Estate, located near Maidstone, Kent ME17 1QT, is a picturesque woodland managed by The Woodland Trust. It's known for its stunning bluebell woods and offers three varying length walks through the countryside. The estate features a small car park and pathways that lead through the woods and connect with the North Downs Way, offering superb views of West Kent and the North Downs.
Lovely countryside owned and maintained by the Woodland Trust, with a network of paths leading through the woods and linking with the North Downs Way. Superb views by the wooden carved shepherd looking across West Kent to the North Downs. There are a few carved wild boar to look out for in the neighbouring field. Plenty of wild flowers to see in spring, and a variety of fungi in autumn. The parking area is well maintained but quite small, and can fill up by midday on fine summer days, but the estate never feels busy. If the weather's good, it's worth a look across the road from the parking area, as the view is quite extensive and you can see as far as Southend in Essex. Suitable for dog walks, but dogs must be kept on leads when there are sheep grazing in the fields.

Visited the Hucking Estate this morning for a nice long walk. I was the first one in the free car park (arrived around 0830hrs). 580 acres of ancient woodland managed by the Woodland Trust to explore. the abundance of wild flowers, especially bluebells, were stunning. There are way marked paths to follow with the occasional information board and maps. Great views.

You can walk through a field with 200 sheep's in!! Whatever you do, don't take your dog in with you. It is worth a visit with this highlight alone but overall everything was actually quite good. It's very quiet and piecfull. The car park is small though as it's nice and quiet. Unsure you could, but we didn't pay for parking... There are three walks of varying lengths. Pathways are sort of clear, quite tricky with a pram in certain places. Lovely views over the downs where the wooden Shepard is sitting. I would go again.

Dramatically situated ruins (which is free to visit) with a great vantage point overlooking the surrounding countryside and weald. It's a short walk from the village, then up some steps to the castle where you'll also find a few information boards outlining its history. The village itself is very attractive and worth a look around while you're visiting. There are also a few cosy welcoming pubs in the village that are also worth a visit with great hospitality and food etc. The roads are narrow and there is not much parking around so a good idea to visit away from peak times.

It's only a small site and the only visible remains of what was once a larger complex. Parking is minimal in the village. There is a place on Tumblers Hill about a 5 minute walk but again that has limited spaces. A couple of information boards and more history on the website. Somewhere to stop off on the way to somewhere else. Plenty of steps too

My wife and I chose Buzz Bingo because we wanted to do bingo and we were already going to Maidstone. The staff were very informative and friendly, which was exactly what we needed as first timers. It is excellent value for money! £3.50 each for so many games of bingo in two hours. It was already cheap at £5 for new members and then it was half price night and we added on Safe Cracker, which was also half price! Atmosphere could have been better for a Friday night, but we found out most people were out Christmas shopping, hence the half prices. Drinks were reasonably priced and the food was very popular. I was sceptical about electronic bingo but it was still tense when you're down to 1 number. You can also do 30+ tickets, much more than I could keep up with using paper bingo. Paper bingo is available but why would you when electronic is cheaper and you can do more tickets? Well worth a visit, especially for the first timer deals.

I came a couple of weeks ago and had no problem with signing up. Got my card that same evening.. Went last night with my other half and Phil at the front desk was not helpful at all. 1. He told us how it could take 24 hours for the account to go on the system and was unable to help us. We weren't allowed in and had to change our plans. Personally I think it's because the colour of he's skin but I could be wrong Bare in mind we had three ladies in front of us who had the same problem, and Phil was able to help them. If you're thinking quick game of bingo and you're new be possibility that you might not get in.. could take up "24hours" so bare that in mind

Myself & my daughter booked a surprise alpaca walk & afternoon tea for my other daughter's special birthday . None of us had ever experienced walking with alpacas before, so it was indeed a treat for the three of us . I have to say, what an absolutely brilliant time we had. The alpacas were just so gorgeous. The member of staff in charge of them, gave us plenty of information about how they were looked after, what to do or not do, whilst walking & every detail possible- I think her name was Jenny. Also, two volunteers walked with us and eight alpacas. It was really good & we actually fed them & watched them being bathed. A truly wonderful experience. The afternoon tea was the best I've ever experienced. So much food & the cakes were to die for! The member of staff who organised it was truly attentive & placed a birthday candle on a cake for my daughter, which was just perfect. The whole time we were there was lovely, every member of staff, kind & friendly. Thank you all for making myself & my daughter's day such an enjoyable experience. We will certainly be returning.

We walked around the beautiful grounds at Kenward, stopping to let the alpacas eat the grass and leaves. At the end of the hour we gave them their cereal feed. We decided to buy lunch afterwards at the cafe. It was delicious. The staff at Kenward were very friendly and helpful.

Such a fantastic morning meeting the Alpacas and Goats. We arrived late due to so many road closures in Maidstone and were expecting to be turned away. We were greeted so warmly by reception and met by a lovely lady to walk us up to the Alpacas whilst filling us in on the information we had missed. The whole experience was delightful and the ladies running reception and the meet and greet were exceptionally friendly, welcoming and knowledgeable. My only negative is not finding out about this local gem sooner. We will definitely be back to do some of the other activities available.

A slight maintenance is required to sports fields, may be with nets, the poles, the grass and the markings of the court and the cleanliness would attract, involve, gather and encourage more sports and park enthusiast to utilise the facilities provided. And another matter is that you got handful of dogs and pets just having a fun time and I just love it. Also the toilets is closed too early and not maintained to expectations. But still love it and happy with what we have.

It is not too big but friendly park to spend a short time with the kids or friends. It has very lovely atmosphere, nice walking paths, playground for the kids, open air tennis-court and a 2in1 football ground/basketball ground, but it is so small, you can walk around in 10 minutes.

They replaced my bench. Not happy, I liked that bench.

Well kept park with good facilities including tennis court, basketball, toilets and shaded children's play area.

Lovely clean and quiet park for children

Lovely little park with a swing park, tennis court and basketball cage. Nice to have a walk around. It's not very big but big enough. The major downside is all the school children congregate there and are noisy and the language is appalling. Best to avoid lunchtime and home time.

Casino
Merkur Slots in Maidstone is a popular casino and slots venue known for its friendly and accommodating staff. The atmosphere is great, with helpful employees who are always polite and ready to assist with any issues. The decor is impressive, and the venue offers a wide variety of games. Customers appreciate the excellent customer service, promotions, and the availability of snacks and drinks while playing. While some may find the place somewhat dated, it remains clean with a welcoming ambiance.
Great decor. Great service. Great games. Best coffee in town! You really do get looked after here. Even hot food now being offered whilst playing the machines. Staff always know how to provide the entertainment to make a great atmosphere!

This experience was beyond disappointing. If it were possible, I would give zero star. I had an extremely disappointing experience at this casino. The staff exhibited shockingly unprofessional behavior, particularly in how they interacted with my wife. Their communication was inappropriate and lacked basic manners. Additionally, they were completely unprepared to handle our group for gambling, and their customer service was abysmal. It felt like we were dealing with uneducated individuals who had no training on how to speak to or assist guests. I would not recommend this place to anyone seeking a respectful and enjoyable gaming environment.

I go to Maidstone, which is a 3 hours drive, to go to reel fruits. There's several arcades on the high street but I like the safe, cheaper, fun, amusement with prizes, reel fruits.
