Nestled in Maidstone, England, the Sir Thomas Wyatt Beefeater is a delightful pub-style chain that has been serving up delicious grilled meats and international favorites since its inception in 1974. With over 140 locations across the UK, this beloved establishment is renowned for its warm hospitality and diverse menu offerings. Diners can indulge in everything from succulent steaks to fresh fish and vibrant salads, all at great value.
Lovely meal this evening, first time to Maidstone. I'll certainly be back, nice food and service. Georgie (5368) is absolutely brilliant. So very kind, friendly, attentive, quick and professional service. Hightly recommend!

I had brilliant service from start to finish. Karl gave a warm and friendly welcome. He left me the perfect amount of time to choose what I was having from the menu. Great steaks, burgers, traditional pub classics and salads. I opted for the House Salad which was fresh and crisp. I had no room for dessert but next time I will be. Karl offered a high standard of service from start to finish and was helpful with his recommendations. I will be coming back.

We stay at Premier Inn’s around the country for work and have never had a problem with breakfast, but this place was the exception. Half of the party had to leave before their breakfast came due to excessive wait times, those that did wait were served disgusting food as photographed. Inedible.

My recent dining experience at Sir Thomas Wyatt Beefeater in Maidstone was nothing short of exceptional. Not only was the steak outstanding, a testament to their superb grilling techniques, but the kids’ menu also deserves special mention. It’s heartening to see a range of options that cater so well to younger palates, combining both nutrition and taste that’s kid-friendly. The entire meal was a symphony of flavors, and the attentive service added to the overall delightful experience. The restaurant’s ambiance is welcoming for families, making it a perfect choice for a satisfying meal out with the whole family. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a great family dining experience.

Nice quiet friendly place to eat. Clean and tidy. Some nice alcoves to sit out of the way. Found the TV's could distracting. Not very busy for a Friday evening. Food was well cooked and tasty partner had sirloin steak and I had chicken and rib combo. We recommend both. Beer decent, staff friendly and we had good service. Worth a visit.

We went for our regular meet up which we do every few months. There were 8 of us this evening. We were served by Stacey who couldn't have done more, making sure that we were looked after. The food was good and the service was quick They take blue light cards too so we got 25% of our meal

Long long wait for food , ordered flat bread with pesto and tomatos, not sure what we got , looked like a large Yorkshire, teaspoon of pesto and 4baby tomatoes sliced, very strange, flat bread is just that …. Flat, I had pesto sea bass and roasted potatoes Sea bass over cooked had to search for the pesto, potatoes were just boiled new potatoes, peas were hard and asparagus over cooked, meal was tasteless but eat it because I hadn’t eaten all day . Other person ordered mixed grill upgraded to Sirloin steak asked for medium to well , asked for tomato sauce took about 10 mins to arrive , when it eventually arrived steak was still bleeding , sausage was burnt, had to send the food back. When it eventually arrived back , got a whole new meal, steak was cooked properly but was a lot smaller than the first one, Overall totally disappointed and totally regret going, will not be returning.

Malta Inn Beefeater is a charming 3-storey clapboarded venue with waterside tables overlooking the locks. In Maidstone, you can enjoy local wines, beers, and ciders at various pubs. The town has a history of brewing, and you can sample drinks from Goachers Brewery and Shepherd Neame Brewery nearby. When dining at Malta Inn Beefeater, steak-lovers should try the mouth-watering Mixed Grill or Truffle Steak Burger from the menu.
"The ribeye steak was exceptional—so tender it practically melted in my mouth. The food was outstanding, and the service was top-notch. Huge kudos to the chef for such an amazing meal! We thoroughly enjoyed everything."

Absolutely brilliant from start to finish! We’d just checked in to the Premier Inn and decided to get some food, and from the moment we walked in we were welcomed into a friendly, calm, and peaceful atmosphere. Our server, David, was an absolute delight. Both my wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our meal, and it’s honestly the best service we’ve had at a Beefeater in years. David struck the perfect balance – professional and attentive when taking our order, while also making us laugh with a few light-hearted jokes along the way. He really is a valuable member of staff, and his friendliness made the whole experience extra special. Thank you so much to the whole team – and especially to David – for such a lovely evening.

The Malta Inn Beefeater, nestled by the river, earns praise for its picturesque waterfront location, making it an ideal spot for gatherings. Many travelers enjoy the relaxed atmosphere, though some note dated decor. Service receives mixed reviews; while some find staff friendly, others experience slow service. Food opinions vary widely, with some enjoying tasty meals, but others encountering issues with quality and delays. Although the value is generally seen as reasonable, portion sizes and food consistency sometimes disappoint.
Keith D — Google review
Really good looking pub and at a great location. However, the food was terrible. 1) they did not have what we wanted to order 2) The service was not great as there were a lot of people going around not paying attention to customers calling to them, and we had to make an effort to get someone's attention on 5 different occasions. 3) the food was very poorly presented and not up to the standards we would expect, the nachos had barely drips of cheese on them, the mixed grill was very poorly cooked as the sausages were burnt from one side and nearly not cooked on the other side, the same for the gammon steak which was nearly burnt on one side and still had the white from the fat on the other. Additionally, the steak which i ordered medium was well done and also did not taste well at all, the chicken was burnt. All in all a bad experience for a very well placed pub. Will think twice before visiting again.

Extremely Disappointed -Burnt, Greasy Calamari at Beefeater I rarely leave negative reviews, but my recent visit to Beefeater was so disappointing that I feel it’s necessary to warn others. I ordered the calamari, expecting something light, crispy, and enjoyable. What I got was completely different - the calamari was overcooked to the point of being burnt, incredibly greasy, and almost inedible. The oil had pooled on the plate, leaving a slick, unappetising mess. The pieces were dry and hard on the outside yet unpleasantly chewy inside. Presentation was also poor,it looked like it had been carelessly thrown onto the plate without any thought. Even the lemon wedge provided looked tired and unappealing. The amount of oil on the dish made it feel heavy and unbalanced, completely missing the mark for what should be a fresh, tasty starter. For the price Beefeater charges, I expected much better quality and care in preparation. This was one of the worst calamari dishes I have ever been served, and it has definitely put me off ordering seafood here again. Verdict: Greasy, burnt, and poorly presented - definitely not worth the money.

We had a really lovely dinner. We ordered starters and mains, and everything came up correctly and the food was really tasty and hot. Melanie did a great job as our server, she was welcoming and friendly, and very attentive. This was very reassuring as one of our group has an extreme wheat allergy. We also enjoyed watching the sunset over the river! 🤩

I took my daughter to the Malta inn for her birthday, an early evening meal. We sat down at a table but was asked to move to a smaller area as they were only serving on that area, we were then shown to our table. The chairs were nothing short of disgusting! Also hairs stuck to the table side, we didn’t make a fuss as the area was clustered and busy with full tables. The food was quite nice BUT quite mean small portions. At the finish we offered up the discount code emailed to us only to be told that it doesn’t apply in the Malta Inn so be sure to check. Waiter David was a good guy.

Cam to the Beefeater after a bad experience at another eatery. Customer service was good and no waiting time. Food was really good for the price we paid.

Leah's Bistro has quickly become a beloved spot for many locals, thanks to its warm and welcoming atmosphere. The staff are not only friendly but also attentive, creating a positive vibe at any hour of the day. Food lovers will be pleased to find an array of delicious options, including choices for vegans and those needing gluten-free meals. Once overlooked, Leah's has transformed into a go-to breakfast destination for both casual diners and business meetings alike.
A few years ago (different owners I believe), this place was not much to shout about. But now it's a regular breakfast venue for me and business colleagues. The service is always excellent, swift and welcoming. The coffee is very good and the food... well, we wouldn't go back if it wasn't great every time! Pictured is my beans on toast, which isn't actually on the menu but is never any trouble. My friend has the vege breakfast which he assures my is top notch.
Martin W — Google review
Was suggested to go to Leah’s bistro - we both had the Mediterranean breakfast when it came it was very beige. Didn’t take long to realise the kofta was pink inside and when we asked the waitress when she collected our plates about it she said it’s normal or maybe it’s just some blood then giggled . We ate around half of our food but was still charged the full amount not impressed at all was a long wait and no one asked how the food was so we couldn’t query if it was normal so we avoided as we wasn’t sure 😬
Lauraj C — Google review
They have a separate Vegan menu so definitely ask the staff.. The staff is very friendly, they are fast too. The food is nice too but I guess a bit standard, nothing special. But tasty so I recommend it. I would come here again, we had a nice experience.

Update 2024 December Had a roast lunch which was promptly ordered and served by polite very hard working staff. It was plentiful in size but could have been heated a little more evenly, this was £12 there was an OAP option for £10 which was smaller apparently. I though the cheese cake a bit expensive for its size £3.95. Update 2023 Staff were friendly and patient. We had a roast lunch each which was served very hot, portion size were just adequate. They were amazingly quick at delivering our meal after order.
Fred G — Google review
I have been a long-standing customer at Leah’s in Maidstone. We’ve always accepted that it’s not the friendliest place or the cheapest, but the menu is decent, which is why we have continued to eat there over the years. Unfortunately, after my most recent experience, I feel compelled to leave this review. On our last visit, I ordered a children’s roast for my 12-year-old daughter, as I regularly do. Due to a technical issue with their ordering system, we were mistakenly served an adult roast. When we raised this with staff, we were assured that we would not be charged for the adult portion, since it was an error on their side. However, when it came time to pay, we were told we had to pay for the adult meal after all because the manager had insisted. We were given no choice but to pay for something we never ordered. This experience was deeply disappointing, not only because of the error, but because of the way it was handled. As regular customers, we expected honesty and fair treatment. Instead, we felt dismissed and unfairly charged. Sadly, after many years of visiting Leah’s and being loyal customers, this incident has left us unwilling to return. Businesses make mistakes but it’s how those mistakes are resolved that matters. In this case, the service was NOT customer-focused, and we left feeling let down and disrespected.
Karen D — Google review
Had a fantastic experience here. The food was great and of good quality. Portions were more than generous and especially for a kids roast. The atmosphere was very unexpected with someone playing the piano by the entrance. People working there were all very fun and bubbly to be around and engaged with the kids too.
David S — Google review
This happened a while ago, but it left such a bad impression that I haven’t been back since — and never will. I’d paid by card here before, but on this visit I was suddenly told they no longer accept card payments, with no sign or warning. I was asked to leave my phone behind while I went to get cash, which felt completely unnecessary and uncomfortable. The food itself was dreadful — I ordered the carbonara and it was greasy, gristly, and completely inedible. I left the entire plate. When I politely mentioned this, the manager dismissed aggressively with something like “No we’re not playing like this” as if I was trying to avoid paying! When in reality, I didn’t want to pay because the food was that bad. The whole interaction felt aggressive and unprofessional. I genuinely felt sorry for the waitresses having to work under that kind of management. Overall, it was an unpleasant experience, and I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone.
Amber E — Google review
We were in Maidstone for the weekend and, as the breakfast had been a bit disappointing at our hotel, ventured out on Sunday to try somewhere else - we went in Leah's Bistro because it looked nice from the outside, and we had a really good brunch. The staff were pleasant, service was prompt and the food top notch - would recommend this place if you are in town.

Woodstock Coffee Shop is a charming cafe with a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The staff are attentive and accommodating, making the experience delightful. The menu offers generous portions of simple yet carefully prepared plant-based and vegetarian options. While the dishes may not be avant-garde, they are made with care and familiarity. The cafe provides a pleasant view of the fields, making it an ideal spot to relax with your well-behaved dog.
We love coming here. Staff are always so welcoming, take time to chat with you and the food is really good quality. We had a biscoff latté, a biscoff and fruit pancake stack, and bacon and syrup pancakes with a sausage.

Cute little place serving all the usual breakfast/brunch options. 🙌 Lovely friendly service. Thumbs up on allergy awareness and free from options. ✔️ Good value for money too, although tinned (anything!) mushrooms always rate a bit lower for me 🤮 and personal preference is not to be served by someone with long flowing hair not tied up, but thst might just be me. All in all, we had a good experience (pleasant views too) and will be returning.
Hayley B — Google review
Ordered a latte and asked for it specifically not to be too hot. It was scalding. This would have been OK had my cup not had leaked all in my car as the bottom was faulty, and over my trousers. I also ordered a latte and there was zero foam/steamed milk in there and literally just scalding milk and coffee. Seems I paid 75p extra for oat milk, I was rather disappointed. I took my coffee back into the shop and was given another cup to decant into. I told them there wasn't any foam in my latte and I was told 'I can only apologise'. Offering to rectify the drink would have been a nicer alternative. On a positive note, the staff were really friendly and the toffee apple cake was delicious.
Sammi S — Google review
Staff great, quite a difficult environment, very busy and extremely noisy so conversation was almost impossible. Coffee very nice, my friend and I had the delicious looking lemon cake but were rather shocked when it arrived, the sponge was a bright yellow under the cream icing, also rather heavy texture with little flavour, colouring clearly used, so beware if you are sensitive to E numbers. First time we'd been and sadly think the last.
Catherine D — Google review
What a place what a joke! I've been told I can order food up until 2pm. At 13:35 go to order and she said that she can do take away if I want because are getting ready to close! I don't want to be rush like that! Atmosphere was so bad, music very loud! I refuse and left. For me the disappointment was high because I was in the need of a place were I can eat not to be offered a take away! Check your ways because this nice reviews will not be there for to long!

Rolled into Woodstock ( unironically named after 99 not 69, let that set the tone for what's to come. ) for a quick takeaway breakfast, and my wallet’s still in therapy. £20 for two sausage sandwiches and two coffees? That’s not a meal, that’s a mortgage payment, Nearly had to klarna it. Takeaway, mind you—no table service, no vibes, just me left to juggle my order in my bare hands no bag or cup holder. The real star of the show was the sandwich pulling a full-on Houdini. One minute, it’s a sandwich; the next, I’m holding a deconstructed sausage catastrophe. Bread crumbs flying, sausage slices staging a breakout—honestly, it was a magic trick worth a standing ovation. If I’d known I was getting a culinary cabaret, I might’ve tipped for the performance alone. Speaking of tips, they had the cheek to nudge me for one at the card machine. A tip? For what? Directing this desaster of a sandwich circus? You’re joking, right? I’m out here playing sausage Jenga for £20, and you want extra? Take your card machine and your disappearing sandwich act elsewhere, mate.
Ethan M — Google review
Sadly disappointed, as whilst appreciating the Chef serves beautiful looking English Breakfast, it was totally overpowered by the flavour of the leaf garnish and once tasted, really couldn't taste the flavour of the other items on the plate. Also, the Menu is not clear or the prices and is very dependent on what the staff tell you is available. Other customers were given choices not offered to us, which we would have chosen if it had been offered. Being asked, would you like this or that was not explained as additional charges to the original price. It would be helpful to have all food options clearly displayed on a detailed menu, with prices clearly displayed. I hope that this will get the Chef to consider displaying a clear Menu and prices... A Chalk Board is easily adapted and cheap too.

Puddings Coffee Shop is a great place to get a cup of coffee, and they also have some amazing cakes and pies. The staff are always friendly and the atmosphere is comfortable. The only downside is that it can be a bit tight in there for new borns and buggy's, but overall it's an excellent coffee shop.
I like her snickers milkshake sticky chewy and smooth and cool I drink monthly five to six time in Maidstone we can get this taste anywhere snickers milk I tried Costa and as well Starbucks but here only snickers and bubblegum shakes I love verymuuch

Set 3 for £12.50, came with toast. Added black pudding for £1 extra ( two very generous slices I may add). Filter coffee was good. Hash browns could do with being alot crispier as were bit soggy. Bacon was very nice thick cut. All in all very good food. Told the breakfast wrap was very nice. No price on the board. Clean premises with friendly staff. Keep up the good work ✌️❤️
Cafe C — Google review
Great cafe with very friendly and helpful staff. Came here for a coffee on a Saturday morning and because it was so cosy and staff were lovely we decided to stay for lunch. Coffees and teas are good and the lunchtime sandwiches are good. Would have preferred a bit more salad in my sandwich and crisps rather than tortillas with sandwiches would be better but bread was fresh and fillings plentiful. I had Brie and cranberry. We shared a brownie and this was fresh and tasty too (although didn’t realise they came warmed up so would have been better if staff had checked we wanted it warmed up). Despite a few criticisms on the food I’ve still given it 5 stars as the (female) staff were so friendly and helpful and happily working - a joy to see. Lovely seating upstairs as well as the tables downstairs.

Looked nice, milkshake was good. Fried breakfast was nice. Young lady waitress needs to be more friendly. Doesn’t really acknowledge you or look at you when she served us. Wouldn’t rush back, which is a shame.

Not knowing Maiddtone, I asked a guy for an independent cafe for breakfast. He was the window cleaner here! Best breakfast by a mile in months cycling on the road. Lots of variety of food too. Ruby the Duty manager was a perfect host. Only adverse comment was a group of OAP guys talked too loud in a corner; at 0800, it was a bit much

Moonlight Cafe in Maidstone is a charming spot known for its lovely and affordable breakfast options. The grilled tomatoes and mushrooms are particularly noteworthy, being ripe, well-cooked, and flavorful. The cafe prides itself on cleanliness and friendly service. Patrons have praised the delicious omelette and chips as well as the quality of the full English breakfast. Visitors appreciate the welcoming staff and delicious food at this family-run establishment.
Simple yet extremely tasty and filling. This cafe hits the spot but does lack some ambience. The food is cooked to perfection and the iced coffee is fabulous! Would recommend to anyone in need of a pick me up or just hearty good food 👍🏼!

I've been here many times over the last couple of years as I enjoy the calm and friendly atmosphere. Staff are always polite and helpful. I usually buy the mega breakfast with extras but lately I've moved to the mixed grill. There's a European feel, mainly because of the art. The menu is vast and caters for most (if not all) tastes. I would say that it's reasonably priced. My only issue is the toilet due to it's location but it's well maintained. Worth a visit for anyone visiting the area.

The restaurant is known for its superb veggie options and all-day breakfast menu featuring classic pancakes with various toppings. Customers praise the attentive staff and large selection of food, although some find the menu lacking in variety. Despite this, visitors enjoy the delicious dishes such as dumplings and banoffee sundae, while noting that prices are a bit high.

Nestled in a charming setting, The Potting Shed is a delightful eatery that captures the essence of a rustic potting shed with its unique grass roof and whimsical decor featuring gardening tools and urns. This inviting venue boasts an expansive dining area with an impressive open kitchen, creating a warm atmosphere for guests. Step outside to discover their stunning garden, complete with giant deck chairs, a dedicated pizza hut (though gluten-free options are limited), and refreshing cocktails.
I have visited The Potting Shed twice and both visits were fantastic. There is a car park which makes it really convenient, and the location is lovely with the option to stay overnight if you want to make for example a weekend of it. The first time I went was for a Christmas lunch with my work colleagues, and I enjoyed it so much that I came back a few months later with friends. I have tried different main dishes and desserts, and everything has been delicious - especially the steak cooked medium well, which was spot on. The service has been excellent every time. Our waitress was so professional, friendly, and really made us feel welcome. She gave us a great experience from start to finish. Highly recommend!

I stayed at The Potting Shed for several nights and ended up trying most of the menu, as it was my only choice for breakfast, lunch, and dinner during my work trip — and honestly, I couldn’t have been happier. I wouldn’t be surprised if someone claimed this is the best restaurant in the world. I haven’t tried every place on earth, of course, but I genuinely believe this gem could be nominated as one of the most pleasant places to eat, relax, and enjoy. It’s not about luxury or dramatic service or decor — it’s about truly delicious, fresh, high-quality food that’s prepared with care and served in generous, satisfying portions, in a beautiful place. Every single meal I had here was outstanding. Not one dish felt average — all of them were simply superb. The attention to detail is remarkable, not just in the presentation but in every aspect of the food preparation. And the staff? Some of the loveliest and most genuine people I’ve ever come across in any restaurant. Besides that, the rooms here are lovely, cozy, and very clean — with great facilities and superb showers and bathrooms. I don’t live in the UK, but I’ll definitely come back here many more times. Without question, this place has earned a spot in my top five restaurants of all time.

Lovely place with a beautiful garden and good food. I was debating between the fish and chips and the pork belly. The pork belly with greens, onion ring and chips (instead of mash) was a very well presented dish. The onion rings and chips were great! Just wish I had a lot more gravy as I drink that like a Northerner 😅 The chocolate blood orange sorbet was the winning dish as it had a semi-sweet chocolate taste and flecks of blood orange rind.

Had a fantastic brunch, good quality products cooked just about right. Decor is nice the restaurant area is very clean. Good location with lots of parking, which was practically full when we left, some car were parked on the grass verge in the car park area which made it difficult to leave and enter. We had a great time, staff were friendly and professional. There is a discretionary 12.5% service charge that is shared with all staff, which is great to hear. My only gripe, this is a 4/5 star place with one star serviettes. Keep up the great work.

I've been here a few times now and the food has never disappointed! Bustling atmosphere, cool environment, LOADS of seating both inside and out. This place is a favourite among my group of friends. The last time I was here, I ordered the "Golden Goat" pizza and it was very yummy. No doubt I'll be back again, and again, and again!

We do love the potting shed, staff are lovely, friendly, attentive. The food choice i feel isn't great if you want some nibbles or just picky bits, there is a selection but the price is a little on the high side for what you get. Nice drinks menu and wine selection. The shacks are a great little extra, you pay a fee to hire for a few hours but great if its a sunny but windy day, you can connect your music to the shack, has a heater or the doors open wide to give you that summer house feel. Location is lovely but tricky to get into the car park if your approaching it and the pub is on your left hand side. Quite a bit of parking but does get busy on nice days.

A group of around 20 of us spent a lovely evening here in a private room served by a fantastic team of staff who did everything they could to accommodate us. They worked so hard all evening. The food was interesting and plentiful, but unfortunately, I was driving, so I didn't get the opportunity to sample the beer!

Where do I start ? Well, from the minute you walk in you are welcomed with a friendly smile and it gave you a good feeling about this place. The staff were very efficient and professional. It made things very relaxing when ordering. The café is modern and had a good atmosphere. Anyway let's talk about the food, The Seafood Platter was absolutely delicious, lobster, crab, oysters, king prawns, mussels, clams, with a green salad and petite rolls. Everything was amazing, freshness, taste, it's a 10/10 from me and I'll definitely be back! A big thank you to the chef Alex who did an amazing job and had all his dishes coming out looking and tasting brilliant.
Marie L — Google review
The food took quite a while to be ready. It seemed like they were short on staff so the waiters would take a while to get even an appetizer to your front. The food was a bit bland in my opinion. It needed a lot more spice. I asked foe food to be very peppery and I could barely feel any heat. That was a bit disappointing for me
Dr H — Google review
Celebrated my birthday here so went all out and ordered a fish platter. It was a treat but it was incredible!!! I've never had such nice and such fresh seafood before. I've found fish platters in other restaurants to not be as extensive as this one - you got a whole lobster and a whole crab plus 8 oysters etc etc so although it felt expensive, it was actually really good value compared to what you'd pay in fancier places in London or something. The prawns were huge. It's quite a normal looking cafe but the food is insane. I also love how pretty much everything is locally sourced, even the Kent wine and beers, or from somewhere in the UK aka Cornwall. Would highly recommend.

Totally fabulous evening meal. The fish is cooked and flavoured to perfection. Loved everything! Impeccable staff, so helpful and friendly. The chef came out to check we enjoyed each course and had a chat with us. What a great team! Would definitely recommend a visit here. It'd not just for seafood lovers they have meat dishes too. And vegetarian options.

Was looking forward to our 1st visit, but we left last night disappointed. My meal was good (not outstanding - I've had better seafood meals), but my wife's main (turbot) was very poor. On reflection we should have sent it back. We did pass on our feedback at the end of our meal, but felt the staff could have responded better beyond an apology (a £30 main dish needs to be much better).
Arfon D — Google review
Looks lovely...draw you in, so disappointed with the food. The fishplatter was all deep fried in batter and tasteless. The only good thing on the plate was the homemade tartar sauce. My husbands fish and chips was pretty average. The fish was dry. Nothing special. Our first choices was out of stock and we had to change our choices. Expected So much more from this place.

Nestled in the picturesque Kent countryside near Lenham, Who'd A Thought It is a splendid boutique hotel that seamlessly blends luxury with charm. This beautifully restored 16th-century pub offers opulent rooms and suites, making it an ideal retreat for those seeking a memorable getaway. Guests can indulge in exquisite dining experiences featuring classical English dishes crafted from fresh, local ingredients. The restaurant prides itself on its ever-evolving menu that showcases creativity and flair while maintaining traditional roots.
Nipped in on a Tuesday evening for a bite to eat. Had their burger, and it was very nice indeed. With that and the very attentive barmaid, it's worth the 5 star rating. The place inside was obviously trying to go for the upmarket look, and the menu prices reflected that. Some people probably are happy to pay the kinds of prices they had in there, but I honestly wouldn't pay almost £70 per lobster....but that's me. I'd still say that if you wanted to nip in on your way past, you wouldn't be disappointed...but your bank account would be lighter by the end.

Had an amazing day at The Who’d a Thought It yesterday. We were a table of eight and we all had a fantastic 3 course lunch. The mixed meat roast was excellent. We have previously struggled to find a really good Sunday roast but The Who’d a Thought It delivered. Exceptional quality and quantity; and full of flavour. 10/10 for sure. The venue is great and the band was fantastic. Can’t wait for next Whod’y Day!

We had such an amazing stay in the lodge. Room was immaculate, included a fridge, coffee and tea, lovely robes. The bed was very comfortable, a huge jacuzzi bath and a smart TV, The hot tub was amazing so warm and relaxing and there room had appliances such as an iron, fan, hair dryer and straighteners and heating/air con. The staff were lovely very welcoming and friendly and couldn’t help you enough! The atmosphere was really chilled and relaxing and the food was 10/10 so would definitely recommend the dining, reasonable prices for how amazing this hotel is, even have a lovely lady to decorate our room with balloons as we went for my boyfriends birthday. Very happy and will definitely look into coming back again
Chelsey-may B — Google review
I recently visited with my wife and found that items listed on the menu did not come when ordered. The hot tub had not had its water changed for over 23 days. There were areas around the bathroom door frame that were rotten. The owner wasn't very friendly and ignored me every time I said hello or good morning. The other staff members were great. If you want somewhere that makes you feel special then it's not here. I wouldn't recommend it for a romantic stay
Tony W — Google review
To put it into context. We didn't go to centre parcs for x4 nights with the kids, so we could stay here on our own, for one night at the same cost. We stayed in the piano lodge. It was dusty and had cobwebs everywhere. The bath had old hair and bubbles in it, there was no champagne, the sky tv signal doesn't work because of how remote the location is. But the worst part was the hot tub. My gosh it was so yellow. It looked like the bath if the kids have had a wee in there and had bits all over it. When we removed the cover to the hot tub it burned our eyes with chemicals. There is no way on God's earth that has been cleaned in a long time. The lady that checked us in, and served us on Saturday is the epitome of customer service. So good at what she does and made us feel so welcomed. A whole different atmosphere Sunday morning. They seemed annoyed we had gone for breakfast? The lady who seemed authoritative was rude, stood there slagging off staff for having a tooth abscess and didn't even make eye contact let alone answer my how are you today? We felt insignificant and like we weren't meant to be there. They have books out celebrating 50 years of them, the room we were in had the exact same bed spread on as in the pics and the book is nearly 3 years old. This being said, the food was unreal, the younger ladies went above and beyond and made everyone feel equally welcomed. They made the best drinks and very quickly too. Probably the best meal I have had in a long time. So reasonably priced too. Safe to say if we did ever return, I'd make sure that lady isn't working before hand, and we would have a meal but never stay there again. Such a shame as we have wanted to go there for such a long time. It was very underwhelming. Oh and the cups in the room for tea and coffee hadn't been washed up and had old stained rings around the bottom. I just received a teeny bit of inheritance from losing my dad, and it was my birthday that day, hence why we went. Don't you hate going somewhere you have only ever dreamed of, and it's a huge massive let down.
Kellie G — Google review
I rarely leave negative reviews, but my experience here was too underwhelming to ignore. The room looked nothing like the photos online. When you book through Booking.com, you don’t get much of a clear description — but being a four-star hotel, you’d expect more than a budget Travelodge. I was wrong. We were assigned to our room only after they finally found our booking. It was called a “Taittinger mini” — but what we got was worn furniture, peeling paint, and an overall sense of neglect. The sheets didn’t feel clean, and there was an unpleasant odor that never went away. It was small to the point of feeling like a box room at your nan’s house. Definitely not four-star boutique — more like a tired two-star motel. Noise from the neighbours was constant, and the atmosphere was closer to a knocking shop. Had we known, we wouldn’t have stayed. Staff were polite but seemed indifferent to everything. They couldn’t use the computer and often had to wait for the manager to handle basic requests. The bar area felt taken over by (possibly) the owner and his mates, making it awkward to even order a drink. The one saving grace was the food — dinner was genuinely delicious. The outside space was decent too, but again, nothing luxurious or “boutique chic,” just mismatched and tired. Maybe should have been a pub rather than a hotel? It did the job for one night, but I wouldn’t come back.
Rebecca D — Google review
I am really sad to have to leave this review but hope it reaches management. This was our ‘escape’ for years. Since 2018 we visited a lot, every room multiple times, loved it here. We’ve not been for a while, maybe even a year and we have left so disappointed. The garden areas outside the pub look tired, uncared for and uninviting. This used to be such a relaxing venue, table service, clean and ultimate garden inspiration for me. On this occasion last weekend - no table service, dirty tables, unkept gardens, cushions stacked up and not put out, wasps everywhere and the outside dining pods stacked and used as storage. We could not even enjoy one cocktail without wasps climbing into our drinks and harassing us. The bar was un inviting and taken over by the owner and the locals - who were lovely and harmless but I felt awkward being there, like I was interrupting (being honest) There was no vibe, no music and just felt dead. The girls behind the bar are lovely, but I felt they’ve lost their passion and excitement for the place. The room was tired and run down - I loved the rooms previously because the attention to detail was incredible. Not any more! For the money paid for the Coliseum Room I feel ripped off! The whirlpool bath did not hold water, the toilet door was in need of repair, the starlights in the day bed not working, the shower bent, dented and broken, the main bath shower leaking, and the mattress of the bed - AWFUL!!! You can tell the heavier person sleeps next to the door, a huge dip and so uncomfortable - we slept on the day bed as there was no way of getting to sleep on that! We didn’t use the hot tub on this occasion so unable to comment on that. Garden area tired and moss growing and stains on tiles - never was this ever a problem before. Used to be immaculate! We ordered room service at the bar as their WhatsApp wasn’t working. Told to call but no phone signal at all here! Half my soup was on the waiting tray when bought up - it was amazing and I am gutted I only got half a bowl. The steak and sides were incredible, as were the cocktails. Dessert we had to go and get from the bar even though we ordered. Food service stops at 9pm. We ordered at 7pm and it was over an hour since our mains came up. I didn’t want to miss them! Again great puddings but disappointed I had to go and get. Breakfast the following morning - we weren’t told breakfast didn’t start till 9.30am. We got to the bar at 9.10 and were told then. Could have been offered drinks whilst we waited - even an orange juice, but told to come back later. Breakfast was in the bar area. Dead vibe! Awful coffee and the breakfast seemed to have gone downhill also. I used to love the breakfast here. Food is one of my highlights and I must say another disappointment on this occasion. I’m not writing this to be a horrible person. I’m writing this in hope the managers see and recognise what is happening. In the year or so we haven’t been I’ve noticed a huge difference. I did mention the the main girl at the bar and she said she’d report our issues. This venue holds a lot of memories for us - birthdays, been with friends, escape from work / life / kids. Please please rectify. This used to be such a hidden gem, not a one hit wonder never to return!
Natalie T — Google review
Absolutely Appalling – Avoid at All Costs Where do I begin? It took a full month to get a response to my complaint. I emailed eight times and called sixteen times, only to be fobbed off repeatedly with “Joe the manager is out, call back later.” When I finally got through, I was grudgingly offered a partial refund — not for the disgraceful experience itself, but simply because they took so long to respond. Totally unprofessional. Now, the actual stay: filthy. The hot tub was unusable — filled with grit and muck. Our first room was so dirty we asked to be moved, and the second wasn’t much better. The so-called private patio was disgusting. As for the food… just awful. An "eton mess" with three raspberries and no cream? Breakfast was stale, clearly left sitting under a heat lamp, served in tiny portions, and they even forgot the toast. This place is stuck in the past — dated décor (think 'live, laugh, love' cliché everywhere), everything stinks of stale cigarette smoke, and it desperately needs to be shut down and deep-cleaned. The standards are shockingly low, and the management's handling of complaints is nothing short of embarrassing. Summary: STAY CLEAR. Save your time, money, and sanity — this place is a disgrace.

How the hell can the justify. Such a hike in price to sit in a basic cafe when all they are supplying extra is a knife fork and a plate? The staff stand around doing nowt anyway. Such a pity in the end we ate in the car. Never had such a small piece of fish either. More of a fat fish goujon!

The attentive staff take great pride in keeping the place immaculately clean, adding to the family-run feel of the establishment.
Very nice and cosy place. I didn't like the food, though, because I dont like English food but it was fresh. I will be biased if I criticise the food as I said I don't like English food. But looking at the crowd, it was evident that people were there for the food. I came to know that there was a scene in the webseries in Netflix called The Gentleman was shot there. The staff was very nice and helpful.

Avoid this health and safety hazard! I recently visited Detling Diner A249, hoping for a delightful dining experience. Unfortunately, my visit was marred by a significant issue: the food was clearly cooked in old, rancid oil. From the moment my order arrived, I could tell something was off. The telltale signs were evident in the food’s appearance and smell. The fried items, in particular, had a dark, greasy coating that hinted at the overused oil. The aroma was far from appetizing, carrying a strong, unpleasant smell that immediately put me off. Also, I believe the photos attached speak for themselves. A V O I D

Stopped here to use facilities and get food but the old gentleman (intimidating) was rude and told us to leave, tried to scare us with saying we will get a parking ticket, couldn't make up his mind if it was private or council property. The place looked dirty and unwelcoming. Made me and my daughter feel uncomfortable. Like to see the parking ticket stand up with its illegal signage.

We popped in here because we needed a break from driving and found a warm welcome and an amazing environment. I loved all the music memorabilia. Unfortunately the kitchen was busy and there was a 30 min delay (had impatient companions) so I didn’t get a chance to sample the food (looked nice - traditional cafe nice, but nice). Eden Cafe & Catering is a charming and secluded spot in Maidstone, offering a peaceful escape from the town's hustle and bustle. The cafe provides ample seating and an array of food options, including vegetarian choices at reasonable prices. While service is quick, some visitors noted that it can be a bit slow at times. The homemade strawberry and banana milkshake was particularly delightful. Although the interior can feel stuffy in warmer weather, the overall atmosphere and presentation are commendable.
Lovely place, very characteristic and charming. The food was brilliant and good pricing. Mate said best veggie sausage she's ever had too, and some great gluten free options too. Would definitely recommend, and would frequent if lived in Maidstone 🙂

Visited for brunch with a friend recently & so glad we chose here, both of us had the Eggs Royale (with salmon) and tea/drinks, as others mention the muffins are served as un-toasted, though the whole dish was still very nice. The general presentation and atmosphere in this place made the visit and with 2 areas downstairs plus more room upstairs there’s a good choice of tables (loo is upstairs in case that matters to some). We’d definitely love to return ❤️ Edit: Just been for another visit on a weekend, v good!…& lovely helpful staff. Just realised there’s a terrace so will be back (photos).

It is lovely place, with great atmosphere. I had no problem with customer service. But I have to say coffee was very low quality, I would not recommend it and for price £4.20. There are places in Maidstone where coffee is made at higher standard and lower price.

I’m a regular customer at The Cavendish, but this past weekend I celebrated my baby shower there and I had so much great feedback from those that attended! We did the afternoon tea and there was so much food!! A real selection of sweet and savoury treats, and tea and coffee aplenty. The staff did everything they could to cater to any dietary preferences, and the owners were so polite, welcoming and helpful (as always!) We all had a wonderful time! Thank you.

This should be a 5 star review. The food, service and atmosphere was top notch. My gripe was the price. Not that it was expensive because the quality of the food more than matched the costs of the meal. MY reason for dropping a star was that for anyone going off-piste on the breakfast menu, it could work out expensive. For me, not a great fan of beans and mushrooms, to have them taken off my plate doesn't reduce the cost of the meal, which in all fairness, I wouldn't expect. However in 99% of the establishments I've ever eaten in, reasonable substitutions would be allowed. Instead, despite already being two items down, you then have to pay for any items you want to replace those two items with, which adds up to a rather expensive plate. This is disappointing. The menu does state that extra items have a price and that no substitutions are offered, but in my personal opinion, it's not really on. I'll say it again that the food was great, everything arrived hot and with a smile and the place is nice and clean with a good atmosphere. Just a bit of advice - stick to the menu.

Visited here at the weekend, and grabbed some breakfast to takeaway. The food was very tasty and the cafe is a nice place to eat at. The pastries and sandwiches looked very good too. I ordered a brie and bacon pressed sandwich which was very tasty, and well filled with ingredients. The staff were friendly, and I will be organising a return to sit in when I have more time. Somewhat limited parking available, but this can't be helped given it is on a residential road, with lots of dropped kerbs and yellow lines...

I visited on Saturday with a friend and had booked ahead of time. However we were informed that there would be a 20/30 minute wait for our food. We had only ordered a sausage sandwich and a bacon sandwich. The drinks were delivered promptly but of course the tea was cold when the food arrived. I appreciate that it’s a busy day to visit, but perhaps there’s a need to employ more staff and be more efficient with the time.

Had afternoon tea it was a wonderful experience. The food was excellent and very well presented. As much tea or coffee as we wanted. The staff are very friendly and definitely on the ball. Really looking forward to more visits and in December having the special Christmas afternoon tea

Really lovely little local cafe here. I had a Chai Latte and it was delicious!! They are very busy but they explained the reason and won’t let you wait for long, lovely people. 🥰 Will definitely come back for food soon!!!

This was our first time visiting. Wanted somewhere to take our 2 granddaughters for lunch, we were not disappointed. The staff were all friendly & helpful. The service was very good as was the food. I would recommend booking especially if you go on a Saturday as they are sometimes busy with birthday parties. Highly recommend & will be going again.

Amazing Jacket potatoes enjoyed for lunch, sitting outside on a summers day - perfect. Staff were very attentive and helpful with our requests. Menu was varied and although it's not as before, the current owners have put their own mark here with generous portions, well presented and tasty food. We would definitely go back, so give it a try.

Nestled in the heart of Maidstone, Aunt Sally's Kitchen is a delightful spot that specializes in traditional afternoon tea. This charming establishment stands out for its authentic English scones and an inviting ambiance filled with antique decor. Whether you're hosting a garden party or simply indulging in a takeaway treat, Aunt Sally's ensures every bite is fresh and beautifully presented.
Ordered an afternoon tea for to takeaway. I emailed Aunt Sally’s and they replied quickly and confirmed the order. Arrived and collected at midday and out came a lovely box full of afternoon tea goodies. We were provided 3 sandwiches and 3 cakes each along with a scone, clotted cream and jam. All the food was super fresh and tasted amazing! Will definitely be ordering again, such great value. Thank you so much!

I’ve visited ASK many times over the years and it is consistently excellent. The food is beautifully cooked and brilliant quality, the service the ladies provide is always friendly/helpful/attentive, and the place is consistently busy. I usually opt for a fry up (the Great British) which some might say is expensive at nearly £15, but in comparison to the competition in and around Maidstone, it is only £2/3 more and the quality speaks for itself. ASK is always a solid choice, the overall experience is brilliant, I don’t waste my time going anywhere else for breakfast. My only gripe is that it is £3 for a can of full fat coke, aside from that, there is no grounds for complaint. Maintain your standards please ASK, don’t change a thing, anyone who I’ve taken/recommended you to has enjoyed the experience.

Nice little cafe and was packed when I came! Which is a good sign. I had Black Pudding Hash and it was AMAZING!!! Nice combination of ingredients and bit of different breakfast with some tasty mustard, it was seriously good and this place from now on my favourite Breakfast Place! Service is fast and very friendly too. I had fantastic breakfast there!

Excellent cafe, lots of meals available, see menu. In Allington shopping precinct. Really nice sandwich, other customers plates look really nice, including the milk shakes. You can park in the car park behind shops.

It's a really lovely cafe. Staff are always nice, friendly and accommodating. Advisable to book as it gets really busy. It's about average price for a nice cafe, good choices on the menu, nice cakes displayed too. I often come here with different friends. It's very popular. X

Nice food , it was a bit dearer than I would usually want to pay for lunch and I felt they could include tea with some of the menu options. Service was good, food was good , the restaurant was clean. I felt the the prices were a little high but im more the greasy spoon type diner so thats is just be my view. Plenty of other people eating there so obviously they attract a good customer base.

Great food and customer service earlier on this week on my first visit. Aunt Sally's came recommended and having passed a couple of times I was delighted to finally visit. Staff gave great customer service and the food was fresh and fantastic plus the selection of cakes was amazing. I have a baby on the way and plan to visit for lots of lunch dates when he arrives.

This cafe is perfect for coffee lovers in Maidstone. The decor is lovely and the staff are friendly and welcoming. They have a great range of coffees, smoothies and snacks, so there's something for everyone. If you're looking for a relaxing break, Esquires Coffee is the place to go!
Esquires was a lovely café to find in busy Maidstone. It’s totally dog friendly inside and out, the staff even offered my woofer a bowl of water. There was a good selection of cakes, drinks and sandwiches/pastries. This time I had a cheese and tomato croissant which was warmed without being soggy. The atmosphere inside felt very relaxed considering it was a busy lunchtime. I will definitely visit this café again.

Not great anymore, use to come years ago and was lovely but seems to have gone down hill a bit. Met with a friend today for breakfast and ordered a decaf oat coffee, mug of tea with milk, a bacon sandwich and scrambled egg on toast. They had no decaf and no bacon available so changed our order, what was fine however I can’t really drink caffeine and would think a coffee shop would have this available. They also didn’t have decaf a few weeks ago when I popped in and had to go somewhere else, so think just not being ordered? I paid in cash but they didn’t have enough change so I just took what they had. When the tea came it didn’t come with milk, and when we asked they had no milk jugs when the coffee came out it wasn’t oat and had to be re made and was told some one else must have taken the oat one however we sat next to the coffee station and an oat coffee was never called, what’s a little worrying just because if some one had taken it unknowingly and had allergy’s, this could be problematic. Coffee was a bit burnt, Food came out, scrambled eggs were super watery and bland. The rest was okay. Had to look on other tables to find salt and pepper as again they didn’t really have many. I asked for some napkins after I had looked on the sides and was told they were also out of these, so had to be given a new washing up cloth. They girls seem sweet who work there but think there must be problems within ordering and management as they seem to be low on stock on everything. Foods been pretty bad the last few times I’ve been, thought it might have just been off days as use to be a nice little breakfast spot but now think not very good might be the norm. Last time I had avocado on toast with poached eggs, was told the eggs would take 10 to 15 mins what was fine, when they came out it was so bland with what seemed like a whole pot of chili flakes on top to mask this and the eggs where so so over done and almost mashed on the plate, I didn’t eat them. even the lady who gave me the dish questioned if it was okay knowing it probably wasn’t but I didn’t want to wait longer as my friend already had her food. And the time before that I got two salmon bagels to take away what use to be our favourite when we lived closer, they didn’t have any bags and hardly any take away boxes and they tasted stale, really not nice and we didn’t end up eating them either. I don’t think it’s a front of house issue more a management problem. Hopefully picks up again but at the moment I wouldn’t recommend. Is a shame.

Terrible experience. Not sure where to start with the list of things that went wrong on visit to this coffee shop. Asking the table to be cleared three times and never cleared, so we cleared ourselves. Ordering our food then after when it arrives telling us that they didn’t have any tomatoes for avocado and tomato with chilli on toast. Also, one of the avocado on toast didn’t have any chilli flakes but the other did. When I asked for a cup of cold water to cool down babies milk, I was asked if I could take my drinks 3 large coffees up to my table whilst holding my baby. When requesting cutlery, they told us that they had run out and didn’t have enough for one of the people on the table. We had to request from another member of staff that we needed to Cuttery to be able to eat or food when the cutlery arrived it was still dirty with old food. This completely put us off our food. And the final disappointment, the cheese and ham toastie had next to no filing in it. The toilets and seating area was filthy. Needed a major clean Overall would never go back and wanted to get out there as quick as possible.

I must confess that I left feeling somewhat let down. While this establishment generally receives excellent reviews, I regret to say that I find myself agreeing with some of the more recent, less favorable comments. To begin, I would like to commend the staff, who were all exceptionally friendly, particularly the female service staff. Furthermore, the coffee we enjoyed was quite good, as was the chocolate brownie. Had we departed at that point, we would have been more than satisfied. However, we decided to sample the brunch menu. We ordered two full English breakfasts, priced at £9.95 each. It was with these that the disappointment arose. The sausages and hash browns were undercooked, and the The tomatoes were regrettably served cold and not baked. While I would typically attribute this to an isolated incident, the recent reviews make it difficult to accept that explanation, which ultimately prompted me to share this feedback.
Ben G — Google review
The actual coffee was nice but nothing special as well as the food, however the girl serving me called kitty, made the atmosphere much friendlier and briefly distracted me from the dirt on the tables, the horror show that was the single bathroom, grime on the cutlery, and the dust. The server did attempt to tidy however it seemed to be in vain.
Thomas B — Google review
I had a very disappointing experience at this coffee shop. The cakes were not fresh, and the staff were unpleasant and disorganized. They didn’t listen to what I was asking for and came across as careless and unprofessional. The service was poor, and the atmosphere was unwelcoming. On top of that, the prices were far too high for the quality offered. I won’t be going back, and I would definitely advise my friends to avoid this place.
Justyna J — Google review
Bad experience from start to finish. Place was dirty including toilets. Coffee was luke warm I paid extra for syrup which was not added in. Tables were covered in cups and plates in the whole two hours of us being there none were taken. Were told to leave because they wanted to shut early as they didn’t have enough staff to stay open even though there were only about 4 people in the whole shop. Disappointed , won’t be back

The Old Boat Cafe is a charming riverside eatery located in Maidstone Town Centre, uniquely situated on a barge. This delightful spot offers both indoor seating and an inviting outdoor area where you can enjoy breakfast or lunch while soaking up the sun by the water. Known for its friendly staff and relaxed atmosphere, it's an ideal place to unwind after a leisurely river walk. The cafe also serves delicious ice creams, perfect for those warm days when you're strolling along the riverbank.
A Serene Escape at the Old Boat Cafe ☕️ I recently had the pleasure of spending a delightful afternoon at the Old Boat Cafe, nestled by the picturesque river in Maidstone. From the moment I arrived, I was captivated by the enchanting atmosphere that surrounded me. The gentle lapping of the water and the soft rustle of leaves created a soothing backdrop, making it the perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. The cafe itself exudes charm with its rustic decor and inviting outdoor seating, allowing guests to soak in the fantastic atmosphere. Additionally, the friendly staff made my visit even more enjoyable, providing warm service with genuine smiles. Whether you’re looking for a peaceful spot to unwind, enjoy a bite to eat, or simply take in the delightful atmosphere, the Old Boat Cafe is a must-visit destination. I left feeling refreshed and rejuvenated, already planning my next visit to this charming riverside retreat. Let’s just hope the weather holds for that, thank you!

We love coming along to the Old Boat in the summer holidays. Always very welcoming and friendly! Quick service and delicious, freshly prepared food. Today I ordered a ploughman’s which I shared with my two children. Very good value at £8.50. Delicious fresh salad, bread and butter, brie, cheddar, apple and piccalilli and pork pie. I ordered juice cartons for the children and a can of rhubarb fizzy drink for me. The waitress kindly provided a cup with ice for my drink and two separate plates for the children so that we could share the food. On a previous occasion we have also sampled their ice cream which was also scrumptious! The only reason I dropped a star for atmosphere is the uneven paving where we sit on the riverbank is a constant trip hazard for children and those unsteady on their feet! I realise this should be sorted by the council so not blaming the Old Boat staff at all, just pointing out the risk.

They have a few tasty vegan options. The coffee and hot chocolate are tasty. It was nice that they had vegan hot chocolate, it was nice to enjoy and it tastes really good. It's a sweet little place to go to eat in the sun, feed the birds and enjoy a meal by the water. They also do boat trips wher you can eat and drink during the trip (have to pre-book and preorder food before trip).

On a sunny afternoon we sat under the shade of trees and had lunch and coffee. The servers were very friendly and the atmosphere was relaxed. The food was good - pictured is the ploughman's, and my family had a sausage sourdough bap and an English breakfast, both of which were enjoyed. I had an iced coffee which was nice.

Lovely place by the river to enjoy an all-day veggie breakfast or a delicious ploughmans with chutney, slaw, salad, and a selection of cheeses. Great food, awesome menu of clasics, great atmosphere, great beverages and coffee, excellent value for money, friendly staff and a cracking location by the riverside. Really popular too. Next time your in Maidstone shopping, forget Mc'D's, stop off and unwind it really is just awesome dining. Can't wait too drop in again. 1000/1000.

Had a pretty nice experience here and glad to see it open (as it was a Monday). Friendly staff and lovely to sit outside on a good day, yes there are better places to get a good coffee nearby (my cappuccino was very milky) and apart from cakes or pancakes we didn’t see food listed though I see from online I think they do sandwiches etc. but it was around midday so maybe no board put out yet. I think it’s worth a visit if you’ve been for a river walk and you need a drink or ice cream and a rest 😎

The Cafe Rose is a great place to go for a delicious sausage and egg baguette! It is also directly opposite our office, so it's the nearest place to go. This cafe is a little bit off the radar because it's behind the main shopping area but definitely worth a visit. The interior is nothing fancy but you'll enjoy it if you're a fan of Only Fools & Horses due to the artwork on the walls. Food is hot, fresh and tasty. Reasonable value for money but cash only. Staff friendly and quick service.

Large breakfast with chips instead of hash browns ( my preference ) mug of tea £10.70 . Not the best but not the worst I've had . Catering sausages do let it down and a sea of beans lol. I think if they stepped up the quality of the ingredients I'd happily pay more for good quality proper butcher's sausages. The beans were salty I dnt know why as I didn't season my breakfast. Staff were friendly and service was good . Its seems to be popular with regular customers. 3 stars for the food and 5 for service and atmosphere.

Left home early to start a job in Maidstone so googled local cafe. Found cafe Rose with a car park almost opposite, this was the main factor for choosing it. We were not disappointed, from the moment we walking in and greeted with a smile, all the staff were very friendly. Café Riviera is a very clean and friendly cafe which serves a great breakfast. It may cost a bit more than other cafes, but it's worth it for the quality of service.
One of my favourite cafes in Maidstone, always a decent plate of food for a decent price. Staff are always friendly and eager to help. Only criticism is I can never get the QR Code ordering to work so I always have to go to the counter, but no big deal. Food is always worth the short wait and consistently of the same standard each visit. Recommended.

Best cafe in Maidstone. Excellent service, welcoming atmosphere, nice decor, great food, and fair prices! What more can one ask for? Edit: I’ve been for breakfast a few times and I find it is a chore to get fried bread here. You can’t swap your toast, so have to order it as extra and have double bread - but then they forget to bring it (they actually forgot twice last time I went)

Nice breakfast, I opted for a set breakfast of sausage, two rashers of bacon, chips, beans, toast and a fried egg along with a can of drink for £9.00. Some of the chips were a little overcooked/crunchy but the rest of the breakfast was nice. They operate a loyalty scheme of a free meal once you have collected 8 stamps from paid meals, they have the same offer regarding drinks too. They have customer toilets which were clean and in decent condition. If you found this review helpful please click on the heart icon, thanks.

Starbucks Coffee is a well-known Seattle-based coffeehouse chain that offers signature roasts, light bites, and WiFi access. While some customers have experienced cleanliness issues and encountered unfriendly staff at certain locations, others have had positive experiences with welcoming and friendly employees who go the extra mile to make patrons feel appreciated. The cafe provides quick and efficient service, albeit at a slightly higher price point compared to non-specialist cafes. Customers can enjoy their beverages or snacks while sitting outside in a pleasant atmosphere.

I sensed a racist demeanour from the older male staff there. While others were greeted with smiles or friendly service, I was met with coldness and an attitude that felt noticeably different. As a Black customer, this isn't the first time I've experienced subtle discrimination in Kent, but I expected better from Starbucks. I was quiet, respectful, and just working—there was no reason for the hostility. It's disappointing and uncomfortable to feel like you don’t belong, especially in a space that claims to welcome everyone. I hope this location reflects seriously on how they treat all customers.

Just received my delivery order. What a complete waste of money. The salmon bagel was just a little cream cheese with some ropey salmon in a stone cold almost stale bagel! Bought my favourite apple cinnamon muffin today, it's not like before very moist as if it was not baked properly very disappointed. But the people who worked there are nice I have been told it's the new cinnamon apple muffin that's y today it's very moist 🙄.

Terrible. Staff unwelcoming and communication shocking. Coffee was average, mozzarella, tomato and pesto flat bread tasted strange and vinegary- hurt my throat a bit. Gave up after 2 bites. Ordered mud cake, no discernible flavour, half a strawberry on top that I assumed was freeze dried but it was not- just very old and shrivelled . Strangely dry and very chewy, icing was vile? Atmosphere was odd, decor okay but felt unwelcome and not cosy. Can see what they’re trying to achieve but failed. Overpriced.

Mud cake was amazing. Staff was very polite and welcoming. The decor is very cosy and comfortable. I highly recommend coming to this cafe.

Today ( 12/9/24), 3.30ish I would just like to say that the staff were welcoming and didn't mind waiting while my Autistic son chose his biscuit. I will come again as staff are welcoming.

Excellent coffee and staff. Enjoyed it alot but the food is vile. I had Chicken Roast Yorkshire - Bland in taste with diced carrots must say it was the worst sandwich I ever had in my life just disgusting full of Oil. Just horrible

Went here for lunch. The food was delicious. Lots of choice of food and drink, all handmade and reasonably priced. Staff were friendly and attentive. Well worth a visit!

Wow 10/10 one of the best breakfasts I have ever had, lovely friendly staff and owner, quick service and the most delicious and great value for money food and drink, you won’t be disappointed here. This is a must visit cafe 🍽️.

Best café around, and everyone I take there agrees. Friendly staff in a bright open space. Food is always of the highest quality, every component of the fry up just tastes better here. You come to expect a greasy spoon vibe whenever you enter a caf, but this place really is a cut above the rest.

Costa Coffee is a popular counter-service coffee chain that offers hot drinks, iced coolers, sweet snacks and sandwiches. The coffee is typically good because the employees take their job seriously.

I asked for a decaf cappuccino and instead I received a regular one! I double checked with the barrister if it was definitely a decaf as I have a condition! 20min after I finished the drink, my pressure went up, my heart started pounding and became sick! Maidstone team pls be careful and concentrate on your job better as you can really make some seriously ill!

Well what can I say . Big thank you to Ben and his colleague. I was feeling really low today and thought I would treat myself and try the Costa Turkey toastie , Gingerbread latte shame they didn't have cinnamon as I love it on my ginger latte . Please bring it back Costa , lemon tart big treat there . Ben you are an angel the way you greeted me and the banta was fantastic you made me feel so much better and your colleague. THANK YOU SO MUCH

I went to this Costa in search of a coffee and some food. I was greeted by a woman at the register who seemed to have woken up on the wrong side of the bed. Not only did she give me and my friend a dirty look multiple times, she also didn’t even ask if I wanted my toasty toasted, which I didn’t, but she did it anyways. However the man preparing my drink was incredibly nice and accommodating. The end x

This Costa Coffee has great service, with pleasant staff who ensure to take their time with each guest. The drinks were made quite prompty, a tiny bit of a delay with some of the cold drinks, such as Frappachinos. I ordered the new Christmas drink, Irish cream I think it was called. It was very enjoyable, similar to a regular coffee frap with a slightly different aftertaste at the end.

Dirty shop floor, even dirtier toilets. Service was good.
Shaun M — Google review
I have to agree with many reviews I read about staff and payments and ignorance from customer services. I notice that in Maidstone, the payment system is problem and staff 'can't do anything'. I sometimes walk half hour to Costa to just have a coffee and don't carry cash. Where I live, there are no other coffee shop chains. This is a point of service that can't be excused and previously I have complained and the issue has continued. I would advise that if you were to complain, keep track of local email with them and if no instant response of this type of issue, start connecting with trading standards . I have complained up to 3 times within last 12 months about this particular issue, customer service treated the email that I requested a response to as no response needed.

Nestled in the heart of Maidstone, Cafe Beck is a delightful spot that promises a warm welcome and an inviting atmosphere. As you step inside, you're greeted with friendly smiles and attentive service that makes you feel right at home. The cafe specializes in hearty breakfasts and offers a delectable hot chocolate that's perfect for starting your day on a sweet note. The open kitchen adds an extra layer of charm, allowing diners to watch as their meals are freshly prepared with care and passion by the skilled chef.
Having a wonder today and found this little gem. We had cherry pie with custard. The strawberry milkshake was perfect. Staff were lovely. Affordable prices. I didn't see any vegetarian dishes on the menu. But I didn't ask either. Not really suitable for wheelchair users. It would be possible, just slightly difficult. We would return if in the area again
Tracey B — Google review
I went to Café Beck yesterday with my son for a hot chocolate. I also got a coffee — pretty decent! I definitely have to come back for the English breakfast; it looked very fresh. The place gets quite busy, so you may have to wait a little bit, but it's worth it.

This is the only place I have found in Maidstone town centre with a good brunch option. It is great value for money too. The team is lovely and food quality is consistent and fresh.

Cafe Beck? More like Cafe Best!! We attended the Cafe for a late breakfast and ordered the Kates Breakfasts x2 and Ice Cream Coffee Shakes x2, both were presented well and came to the table very quickly after ordering and piping hot! Evidently freshly prepared and with care! The coffee shakes are to die for, with a lovely rounded espresso and the creamy sweetness from the ice cream and caramel sauce! We will definitely be returning, with the price being affordable, portions and food being generous and delicious and the Ice Cream Coffee Shake will deffo be a regular order. Thank you Cafe Beck!!

OK so you want a good hearty breakfast and a lovely hot and yes hot chocolate then this is the place to go ... The food was 100%tasty well plated up and portion size was not to small or large but just right !!... As soon as you enter the cafe you are greeted politely and prompted to sit down and have table service brilliant The added bonus of seeing the chef/cook prepare your food in an open kitchen just shows how confident and passionate he is at what he does . If your local or passing through and want decent food at a decent price don't look any further Cafe Becks is the best 👌

The friendly staff are dedicated to providing excellent service and take pride in their freshly prepared dishes. Came here for brunch today. I ordered the eggs Florentine and a chai latte and enjoyed them both. This place is quite cute and unassuming and has additional seating in the basement. The staff were really lovely as well. It's the second time I've eaten here and the food is priced reasonably.

A cosy local cafe with great staff and food. I ordered club sandwiches, big portions, fresh ingredients. A really nice afternoon to sit next to the window to enjoy the sandwiches. They have breakfast menu in the morning which showcases the classic British breakfast. They offer free coffee grounds too.

Brilliant! A wonderful breakfast. Went back for soup later, before I left town. Fast, friendly and loads more space downstairs. I had to buy some of the home baked stuff because I was too full but they were too good to leave behind. At home everyone loved them. I wish I was local...

I was actually heading for another café when I came across this place but am glad I did. It seemed small at first but I then learnt that it also has a basement floor with more seating. The young lady working was very courteous and the lovely breakfast arrived really quickly. Definitely on the "must revisit" list. Highly recommended.
