Castle
Sights & Landmarks
Historical landmark
Stirling Castle, perched majestically atop Castle Hill, is a stunning 12th-century fortress that once served as a royal palace for Renaissance monarchs. Its diverse architectural styles and impressive entrance featuring a statue of Robert the Bruce create an unforgettable first impression. The castle grounds boast several buildings from the 15th and 16th centuries, alongside remnants from the 14th century and outer defenses dating back to the early 18th century.
My wife and I went first thing in the morning when it opened at 930am. on a Saturday. The castle was wonderful and rich in history. We did not have a tour guide, just walked around ourselves and enjoyed the beauty and architecture of this historical place. The views are stunning. About a 17-minute uphill walk from the train station, and it seemed way faster on the way down, like 5 minutes. It's worth exploring and enjoying the excellent and magnificent history Scotland has to offer. It also has a few gift shops around the location and also toilets which is a plus. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Don't forget your Stirling Castle Magnets!

A steep climb up the hill got us to the Castle. You don't have to walk, there's a carpark by the gate and a shuttle bus service. Buy tickets in advance and save some money. Trying this on my mobile was problematic and I never managed to get it to work. But the nice lady at the Castle sorted it out for me. The good bits, all of the buildings are impressive. The views from the terraces outside even more so. The interiors are spectacular with ornate carvings and wonderful wall decorations. See the restored kitchens and the reconstruction of the interior. It's obvious that a great deal of effort has been made to present a good visitor experience. One of the best bits was a couple of ladies roleplaying different people from history. More of this could be a great thing. Well worth a visit.

There is no way you can come to Stirling and not visit this amazing historical centerpiece. Sitting at the highest point in the area, it will be visible from anywhere in the city. There are lots of paid parking spaces (5 pounds) right at the entrance. As soon as you walk in, the ticket booth is just off to the left. After ticket purchase, I highly suggest the free tour given by their historians - very informative with a nice touch of humor. First one started at 10 am when we visited. As you walk through the grounds and on the high walls, you can take in some great scenery inside and outside the castle. There a lot of things to see and some of the parts of the castle might be missed if you are not paying attention to the map. All the main areas have employees in period dress who freely offer their period stories. Everything is in your own time - I would say a couple of hours will offer you a good visit with the tour. There is a couple of gift shops (one at the entrance and one off the main inner courtyard) and a nice canteen to buy some light snacks. So much history - enjoy.

A phenomenal castle experience! The drive up built anticipation, as Stirling Castle unveiled itself gradually. At the castle, I enjoyed the stunning view of the gorgeous Forth Valley from the ramparts. The restored Royal Palace was impeccable — vibrant colours, heraldic details, and Renaissance interiors that feel genuinely 16th century! Allow plenty of time to explore the entire grounds, the Great Hall, and especially the Palace. A truly unmissable piece of Scottish history!
Josephine W — Google review
Absolutely stunning castle. We'll preserve and very good historical information presented clearly. I didn't get the audio tour and I think that was a good choice. Though I'm sure they provide good information. Wasn't so crowded you couldn't see what you wanted as long as you avoided the huge bus tours. Have I mentioned it was beautiful? It truly was. Very memorable.
Sophie S — Google review
By far the most interactive and fascinating castle visit I have experienced across the 40 countries I’ve visited. The site is rich in history and offers truly immersive exhibits. Even rushing through, we spent almost 3 hours inside. For a full experience, I recommend reserving 4–5 hours — and trust me, it’s worth every minute. The ticket is not cheap, but it is absolutely worth the visit.
Marina M — Google review
My first visit to the Royal castle. Wonderful location. Views are stunning. The castle itself is full of history, much more intimate than Edinburgh castle. We arrived late in afternoon just in time for the second last guided tour. It was so informative and the guide was outstanding. Made my day. The garden was so vibrant.

Our visit to Stirling Castle this past September was absolutely unforgettable! This magnificent fortress is one of Scotland's most impressive historic sites, and it truly brought Scottish history to life in the most captivating way. The castle itself is remarkably well-preserved and intact, with beautifully restored rooms that transport you back through centuries of Scottish history. Walking through the Great Hall, the Royal Palace, and the Chapel Royal felt like stepping into a living museum. Every room tells a story, from the grand Renaissance architecture to the intricate details in the tapestries and decorations. One of the absolute highlights of our visit was the live Renaissance musicians performing throughout the castle grounds! Their authentic period music filled the rooms and chambers, creating an incredibly immersive atmosphere. The musicians were talented and passionate, and their presence truly elevated the entire experience. We learned about Mary Queen of Scots, James VI, and the many battles fought for control of this strategic stronghold. The storytelling brought the history to life in such an engaging way. The views from the castle ramparts are absolutely breathtaking, we especially loved the gardens and the views of gardens in the valley too overlooking Stirling and the surrounding countryside. You can see why this location was so strategically important throughout Scottish history! Receiving lots of daily visitors it is wise to choose an organized tour or purchase the point-by-point earpods. Allow plenty of time to explore – there's so much to see and experience!

Nestled right next to the iconic Stirling Castle, The Portcullis is a historic pub that dates back to 1787, offering visitors a delightful glimpse into Scotland's rich culinary heritage. With its vibrant and simple rooms, this charming establishment features a lovely walled garden where you can unwind after exploring the area. A visit here is incomplete without indulging in authentic Scottish dishes like haggis or fresh seafood, making it a must-stop for food enthusiasts.
After a morning of driving and exploring the amazing Stirling Castle, we needed a place to have lunch. This was recommended by one of the staff of the Castle. It did not disappoint. We all had something different, and 3 of us tried haggis. I have to admit, it was not what I expected, more of a coarse sausage texture and the taste was also very similar to sausage. The food was great, my wife had the pineapple salad, my son had the burger with haggis, my daughter had a chicken sandwich and I had the steak pie. All delicious. Our server was super friendly and very helpful.

This place became my husband and my favorite place. The authenticity of this place was captivating! Food was delicious, great price, lots of drink options, inside and outside seating. The staff was friendly, inviting, and very welcoming! We ended many of our nights with a drink here either in the restaurant, the outside patio and in a charming little space with couches that was very quiet and private. Highly recommend if you want to truly interact with locals.

Wonderful pub meal! We had the steak and ale pie and the highland chicken stuffed with haggis. Both delicious and ample portions. Great service.
Nicole B — Google review
We went just for eating: The location is great just outside the Stirling castle parking area. The interior is cosy and neat, with a nice, comfortable hearth, I want to say despite burning coal. The service is what you could expect, kind and simple. The drinks are rather pricey, even with the cappuccino being large and the tea being two small portions in one. Clean presentation, though, and the cappuccino was good, as well as the tea, being the standard Scottish blend. The food is where it goes bad. We went for some of the cheaper options as the menu is quite expensive overall, especially if you just want to have lunch. Even if it's nice that there are some cheaper, normal-priced options, it feels like being ripped off.... The steak pie is NOT a steak pie. It is a bowl of beef stew with a bit of pastry on top. I am aware this happens in other places too, and that it is easier for them, but it is just wrong to call that a pie. The pastry was a bit tough on the bottom making it hard to eat without pressing the stew out of the bowl. The beef stew was so overcooked it resembled something like dog food, despite tasting alright. There was no vegetables in it or anything though, just beef and sauce, rather one-dimensional, not a great taste. The carrots and peas were clearly from a jar or can. The peas were dry and the skin was tough, as if it had been standing for a while, or had been microwaved. The carrots were boiled I assume, whereas microwaving them would have been nicer, because now what little taste they had in the jar was replaced by water. Just tasteless and low effort, done cheap but still £14.50. The macaroni cheese looked nice, even tasted as though it was supposed to be fancy, with a distinct ricotta flavour in the sauce. But it was almost as if the sauce had more texture than the macaroni, being completely overcooked to the point of almost being mush. The ricotta in the sauce was also the only taste it had, the cheese on top barely tasting like anything. The thin slice of tomato that had dried out from roasting had the most flavour of anything in both dishes. The only redeeming factor with both dishes was that the chips were actually great. If the rest was like that too, it would have been a 4.5-5 star review. Cannot speak for the entire menu, of course, but the obvious signs of microwave use and low effort do not make me want to revisit next time we visit the castle or Stirling. I feel reluctant to be so harsh, as the staff was nice, but this is accurate with the quality of the food, nothing personal.

Excellent food served by kind people. The ambient is beautiful and the traditional dishes are very tasty. I really loved the experience! I recommend the place to you all.🫶

We only ate at the restaurant and the food was fantastic. Comes out hot and tasty. Order the steak pie 🥧 Try the Haggis ask if they can serve it with mashed potatoes and Drambruie sauce.

Great pub, good atmoshere, and tasty chips. The barladies are also very friendly. Furthermore, the building is beautiful and well placed. A worthy stopping point on your way up to the castle.

I did not stay at the hotel, we only ate at the pub. Service was quite cold. Our server clearly wanted us to vacate as soon as we sat down. We hadn't been seated for 5 minutes before we were asked about our mains. The food was disappointing. The burgers were cooked within an inch of their life. The buns were dry fell apart. The sauces were bland. The chips were overdone. We tried to flag down staff to talk about this, but they ignored us. All in all, I would not recommend.

Stirling Old Bridge

Bridge
Stirling Old Bridge, located north of Stirling city center and crossing the River Forth, is a significant historical site in Scotland. Dating back to the 15th or 16th century, it replaced earlier timber bridges and is one of the best-preserved medieval arched bridges in the country.
It was neat to cross a 500 + year old medieval bridge. It may not be the original wooden bridge that William Wallace had destroyed, but it’s neat to imagine it on this bridge near the site where it would have happened. You can feel its age when you’re here and that’s the fun of it.

Nice walk and a good vantage point to view the bridge. It would have been good if there was more information about the bridge and the history there

A walk to the Old Bridge of Stirling from city center is about 1 and a half miles. The Old Bridge is a beautiful site. Especially on a clear day it is a pleasure to walk down to that area. At this point the Forth river widens and provides a great vista. The best part is a network of unerpasses meant fir cycling, walking; for Old people and scootering for children. It avoids all car traffic and gives access to some of the best parts of town. The river is beautiful at this spot. The Bridge gives lovely views of the city and of both Wallace Monument and the Stirling castle both on opposite sides of the city atop two hills. It makes such a lovely walk. On your way back take the underpass to the riverside and walk along the river. In summer you can pick some black berries and raspberries. In summer Stirling is in full bloom. The meadows across the river are a sight to watch with Wallace Monument in the background.

Shopping
Nestled in the heart of Stirling, The Stirling Arcade is a beautifully restored 19th-century shopping gallery that captures the essence of Victorian architecture. This charming destination boasts an array of independent boutiques and cafes, offering everything from ethnic crafts to traditional Scottish sweets. As you stroll through its ornate corridors, you'll appreciate not only the unique shopping experience but also the historical significance it brings to the city since its establishment in 1882.
I love the beautiful arcade. It's a shame there are so many empty units these days. However there are escape rooms, axe throwing, places to eat, comics, and an amazing eyelash bar.
Jill B — Google review
Always been a great shopping centre although after lockdown it's lost most of the best shops and they have been replaced by what can only be described as similar to a jumble sale. Its clean and easy to navigate and good covid rules in place. Needs better quality shops. You can learn to play our nation anthem however.

Used the Arcade to get from Murray Place across from McDonald's up to Wee Wolf Bistro at top of King Street. Some lovely baby and wedding shops but been there done that. Lol. Lovely Arcade tho but wish was more cafes and pubs in it so was perhaps more popular with people. Sad to see it so empty tbh 😕

The Stirling Arcade has long been an important feature in the city centre due to its prominent location right in the heart of the old town. It stretches from Murray Place (near the railway station) to King Street at the foot of the Castle Rock. Throughout its long history the building has had a variety of different names including the Stirling Arcade, Alhambra Arcade and Crawford Arcade. The Arcade recently benefited from an extensive renovation and redecoration programme, the result of which is a unique shopping environment where stunning architectural features and traditional values meet contemporary retail and business units.

Amazing customer service, beautiful cafe. Soup of the day was delicious with their sourdough bread. Biscoff iced coffee was lovely. My partner had the Korean sandwich with chicken goujons and scrambled eggs and it looked incredible, very tasty!

Tried the Apple Almond Tart and a coconut milk latte at Vera Artisan Bakery both were fantastic. The tart was rich yet light, with exquisite flavor. The latte was smooth, well brewed, and topped with beautiful latte art. A lovely spot in Stirling that I’d love to visit again!

Cute little place on King Street. Tons of cafes up and down the street but this one caught our eye since it looked better kept than others. Quiet and laidback atmosphere but the service is prompt and courteous. The eggs on sourdough is what appealed to us. The coffee is also excellent. We sat by the front window facing the street and people watched as well. Lots of happy pups and kids on King street this time of the year.

Was looking to try a new cafe while I study so came in here. Not a great study spot as there’s not many outlets and it’s very loud. But this is not their fault, after all it is a cafe, not a library (just adding for anyone looking to do work!) I came in first thing after opening and was a little surprised to see crumbs on tables and chairs, the floor wasn’t spotless either. The table I was sat at also had a hair on it. But in terms of food, so good! A little pricey in my opinion but the taste is definitely there! They have flour at the back which looks aesthetic but I wouldn’t doubt everything is homemade- def tastes like it! I got the eggs on toast which was sooo good. Came with 3 eggs so that was nice! And the sourdough was delicious. Also tried their honey brown sugar iced latte. I thought it would be too sweet and hard to drink but wanted something festive. It was actually amazing. Would def recommend. I would come back!

Great first visit to Vera on a Saturday afternoon. It was packed, but I was able to get seated immediately. Lots of servers, so wasn't waiting long. I was served by Megan who was very cheery, helpful, and patient, even though I was being painfully indecisive. Potato and leek soup was very hearty and nice, and the bakewell slice was lovely (and large!). Came alone today, but would gladly visit again with friends/family.

Had some wonderful cakes during our visit. All of them, including the vegan ones were proper tasty. The cappuccino too was nice. The service was ela highpoint and deserves extra praise. The cafe is pretty popular and might be difficult to get a table if you are coming in at peak hours.

The best bakery in town! The stuff is lovely and the products are good quality. I went with a friend and we enjoyed coffee and cinnamon roll, red velvet cookie and almond croissant 😍😍😍. We also bought some bread which was lovely with some cheese. I really recommend the place to have a "coffee break" or to take away. 07/06/2025 I was at Stirling againg and I decided to try the new "Korean sandwich". Really good. Friendly waiters and a good moment. (Last picture)

Settle Inn is a historic watering hole in Stirling, dating back to 1733 and known as the oldest pub in the area. It offers a cozy atmosphere with a fireplace where visitors can enjoy whisky and possibly encounter some spooky ghosts. The pub provides a nostalgic experience reminiscent of old candy shops. While it may not be well-organized for events, it's still a great place to spend time with friends and enjoy good music.
The other day we got caught in the rain and stumbled in the Settle inn, Got a quick pint. The lady who was running it the other day was one the most friendliest person I’ve ever met. Offered to put my coat by the fire because it was wet. Offered dry cloths and an umbrella. This was true Scottish highland hospitality Thank you. help support this amazing local Pub.

While walking around Stirling, we noticed this place advertising "Live Scottish music" so we went back in the evening. It was like an Irish session - lots of musicians playing traditional tunes, some with acapella singing, others just instrumental. We grabbed a pint of cider for £4 and sat down. There was no room in the back where the musicians were, but we grabbed a table in the front. It's a cozy place, but my wife (who has a stronger sense of smell) noted that the place had an unpleasant stale odor to it - a lovely combination of sweat, beer, and years of smoke.

McDonald's, a well-established and enduring fast-food chain renowned for its hamburgers and fries, consistently serves hot food. The employees at one particular branch were exceptionally pleasant and amiable. Remarkably, while exiting the establishment, a staff member kindly offered to dispose of the tray. This was an unprecedented occurrence for the customer.
Nice experience to have morning hang out here! Provide best morning delight! But only thing is the sausage all are made by beef, might not suit to Asian ppl!

This McDonald's is one of the better ones, it's faster than a lot, they are always busy without being mobbed. The burgers taste the same as they do everywhere. One issue today was that my daughter wanted a hot chocolate and they gave her a coffee. She's 12 so not a fan of coffee but reacted well in the circumstances. Inside it was very clean as well. I always think McDonald's is hard to rate as you know what you are getting, although like I said it's one of the better ones.

Ordered an ice cream at 10:45pm. Manager served me, gave me order number and then proceeded to wander around talking to the other girls who are all standing about talking. 4 of them doing absolutely nothing. Only one other person waiting at the till who waited ten minutes to be served whilst one of the staff had their back to the customer and she continued to slowly clean the counter. Then after 15 minutes of waiting for a mcflurry, one of the girls asked another one to make it. She did and then she held it in her hand whilst talking for another 5 minutes. Absolute joke! Haven't they heard of prioritizing orders before talking? The manager could have made the mcflurry within 2 minutes but nope! She's too good to be doing that.

Good parking. I was there on a busy day and still got the food pretty fast and there was plenty of seats. Didn't feel crowded or too noisy.

They didnt deliver the hashbrown and when called them they said there is nothing they can do. Hashbrown was the main breakfast item and after paying more than £20 for this they were not even willing to facilitate. This is very poor service. Also the porridge was poor quality and completed expired. This is unacceptable.

Day 2

West side of town
For day 2, we recommend exploring the west side side of town. Start the day off with The National Wallace Monument, then wind down and take it easy by the time you get to Primark. All together, your day would be filled with about 8 hours of non-stop fun.

The National Wallace Monument is a grand Victorian stone tower dedicated to the memory of William Wallace, featuring his iconic 2-handed sword. It was constructed in the 19th century as a symbol of Scottish national pride and pays homage to Sir William Wallace, a revered figure from Scotland's War for Independence. Visitors can ascend over 240 steps to reach observation platforms and explore exhibitions about the monument and its historical significance.
A Truly Memorable Visit to Wallace Monument The Wallace Monument is a wonderfully organized attraction with excellent access and free shuttle service. At the foot of the hill stands a spacious, free car park for both cars and buses – a thoughtful gesture from the local council. Nearby, you’ll find a visitor centre with a gift shop, clean toilets, and a café. The small shuttle bus departs regularly from just outside and takes visitors up the hill in about 3 minutes. For those who prefer to walk, the uphill path takes about 15 minutes – it’s quite steep but paved and equipped with benches for resting along the way. At the top, there’s a viewing terrace with benches placed around the tower, offering a place to relax and enjoy the surroundings. Entrance to the monument closes at 5 PM, so make sure to arrive in good time. Exploring all the exhibition rooms inside the tower takes about 30 minutes, including climbing the very narrow spiral staircase. The exhibits are engaging and well-curated, including a short but informative film about the Battle of Stirling Bridge and the legendary William Wallace himself. The panoramic view from the observation platform at the top of the tower is absolutely breathtaking and leaves a lasting impression. The vista over the battlefield and the river below is truly unforgettable. After descending, consider stopping by the gift shop – it’s the best place to find affordable souvenirs such as magnets, T-shirts, and unique memorabilia. Opposite the shop, there is also a small bistro for drinks and light meals. You can return downhill either on foot or via shuttle. In total, the visit takes about 3 hours. On a beautiful day, this is a perfect spot for a short historical journey and an outdoor lunch with a view.

Beautiful place, views and reminds bit of Lord of the rings to top of the tower. Need comfy shoes to get to it. Has free parking, nice place to go for a walk around too. Has some wooden sculptures on the way aswell. Bit of a steep walk but has small buss service that takes to the top, cafe near parking. Also available free toilet in the Monument. Welcoming staff.

This monument is certainly a must see in the Stirling area. There is a lot of convenient parking for your visit and a nice cafe and gift shop at the base of the hill beside the parking area. After parking, head up the trail that starts around the right hand side of the building - you don't need to go inside as the tickets for the monument are bought when you get to the top. There are two paths that literally run beside each other and connect around halfway up. The more natural path has some carvings to look at as you go through. Depending on your fitness level, the path to the top may be a bit strenuous - take your time and there are a few rest spots. There is also a great viewing platform and rest area outside of the main tower entrance. There is one bathroom for all patrons in the monument tower, so this can be a bit inconvenient. Use the bathroom down below before heading up hahahaha. Depending on the time and day you go, this visit will likely vary greatly. There is only the original narrow spiral stone staircase to go up and down. Although there are a lot of stairs, you can stop at the different floors with great displays - historical video, display boards, the Wallace Sword, and sculptures. Resting on each floor is also a good way to let the "traffic" pass. You can only hope you don't arrive at the same time as tour buses - ouch. Make your way to the top to get an incredible 360 of the area - including the Battle of Stirling Bridge. A great piece of history, with great relics. Thanks for the amazing visit.

Really pretty! We went there to see the sunrise, but the sun rises on the other side…. Nevertheless, it was really beautiful and a really good walk in the morning. The pathway was closed due to maintenance but you can go through the road, just need to be extra careful.

I really enjoyed my visit to the national Wallace monument it was great to finally see it in person and witness what it would be like to be living in that back in the it would have even mental been in there as a defence lookout against the English and other threats so be aware going here that there are lotsss of steps to take to the top and they are very narrow so it's a tight squeeze when there's two way foot traffic my dad made it to the the top and he has a walking stick so it can be done for those maybe less able and the view from the top is breath taking and definitely worth the climb and there are 3 levels to experience on the way up too the top which can be used as a wee rest stop with some great visual holisory to take in the place is just wow and thinking about all way back in time it's crazy this is a must to take in and if you have time take in Stirling castle too on the same day

A great experience for anyone interested in the history of the Scottish independence movement. Equally worthwhile if you just want to take in the amazing views from the tower. I also really appreciated the range of family ticket options, recognising that not all families are nuclear.

We really enjoyed this monument, as we climbed to the top of the spiral staircase. The designer gave us breathers along the way with The Hall of Arms, The Hall of Monuments and The Royal Chamber. My brother and me had views from the top of this historic landscape all to ourselves. I can’t imagine weirding a sword that length. My brother is 6’4” tall and he shown standing beside the sword. We did take the free van up to the monument with our hens, as why not. Take your hat off before reaching the top, cause the winds will for you if you don’t🤣
Mark E — Google review
Sometimes you just can't get your mind around how something is built that is so massive and in the 1800s. This monument is one of them. The grandeur can only be experienced by climbing the narrow spiral staircases to three tall showrooms (two of which contain the swords of William Wallace and Robert the Bruce), and then to the top outside "crown" 200+ feet on top of a high peak. If you don't like heights, don't bother. But it is a stunning and extremely well put together attraction. We managed it in under an hour because we were in a rush to get to Doune Castle on time. If you have the stamina, do all the flights of stairs to the top.

I brought my partner tonight and booked to eat at what I thought was the restaurant I remembered from the last time I was here. Boy was I disappointed and embarrassed. I had told my partner how good it was. Well not tonight. The food was no better than microwaved. I requested Bangers and Mash from the menu - they didn't have any. Nacos - see above I had a burger that was cold and hard. The chips described as twice cooked were obviously microwave or oven cooked and luke warm A very poor show from what was once a good place to come for food. We will eat elsewhere when coming to any shows.

Lovely theatre, the stage at a perfect level to ensure audience engagement. Sound was excellent, temperature perfect. Small bar which appeared to sell good quality produce (we tried one cake which was good). Signposting could be better. Parking is sporadic, so allow some time for a walk, but the campus grounds are very pleasant. Look forward to returning.

First off this only gets a 3 because of the cafe messing up our order then after 45 mins deing told our food order had never reached the kitchen, so after being given some chilled sandwiches, we then watched Grease, which was absolutely fantastic, this show and the surrounding grounds are really nice and well worth a visit 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟, will be going again but will eat before hand.

The Italian restaurant Corrieri's serves excellent pizza and homemade ice cream in a traditional cafe setting. Parking can be tricky, but the staff are incredibly friendly and will help if necessary. The food is good value for money and the play park next door is very fun for children.
Staff were friendly and service was very quick Dishes had included: Cheeseburger Pizza The focaccia with mozzarella was delicious Desserts: Cheesecake And a selection of ice creams - also delicious Can’t wait to come back to try out different menu items - so much to choose from

I decided to hop in with friends to get ice cream since we were coming back from a game, but immediately smelt how good the food was, so we decided to stop to get dinner. Overall, amazing service and food! We were sat almost immediately and the food was absolutely delicious! They brought it over within 15-20mins after us ordering and they were amazing with us! I would definitely will be coming back here :))

We got a takeaway fish supper. Very unassuming from the outside. The fish AND the chips were so delicious we got a second one to share. I can honestly say this is one of the best chippies I’ve ever had. Absolutely delicious. Perfectly cooked. Fish tasty and succulent and the potatoes tasted beautiful as crunchy chips with a soft and fluffy centre. I’ve been to Rick Stein’s chippy in Cornwall and this is up there with them for flavour. Perfect!

Meravilioso! Che posto fantastico. Escobar has been here three times already this week. First time for takeaway fish and chips which were great. Nice thin batter. Then for ice creams which were delicious. Then for our evening meal. The first time we tried to get in it was full up all night so we booked in the next time. Make sure that you book to avoid disappointment. Just ring up or pop in. Our meal was excellent. Our host recommended a lovely bottle of wine. The food was delicious. It's great here because you can have half portions so I had half a portion of pasta and a seven inch pizza. Best of both worlds! The price was very good too and the service was very attentive. Ma, questo bar è davvero fantastico. Bennisimo.

We visited Sterling this past June, we went to Corrieri's for breakfast and it was so good we decided to go for dinner too and even again the day after that! Mr Corrieri himself was very nice and accommidating, he sat with us and gave us a few lessons about the Scottish ways he told us about William Walace and Sir William Scott. He gave us a few names of places to go visit as well. The food was really good, the drinks were amazing as well and the Gelati was super yummy. Our friend Jessica is also looking forward to her future job as a Gelati maker at Corrieris !😁😅

I imagine a good percentage of the business at this cafe comes from tourists hungry after visiting the Wallace monument. That is a category into which I fall, and I am extremely happy I went here. The welcoming Italian charm of this place is palpable, and it made me think fondly of my own escapades around Italy about five years ago. I appreciate how the service is warm and welcoming without being overbearing, and the inside of the cafe provides an abundance of space. A certain pleasure and delight emerges from simply being in a place that is run well and run thoughtfully. There is nothing particularly distinctive about this cafe, but there's nothing wrong with that: it is simply trying to be a comforting Italian cafe, and in that ambition, it succeeds.

Delicious fish supper and reasonably priced too. I’m only in Stirling for a few days but I’ll definitely be back before I go

Corrieri's offers a nostalgic trip back to the 60s with its charming decor and vibrant atmosphere. Eager to try their offerings, I opted for a Hawaiian pizza, which impressively arrived in just 8 minutes and 37 seconds. Despite the swift service, the pizza itself was a bit of a letdown. Overloaded with oregano, it overshadowed the other flavors, resulting in a rather tasteless experience. However, the aesthetic charm of the place and the friendly, efficient service somewhat balanced the scales.

Today my friend and I were at the disabled till and we were given a lot of abuse, accused of jumping the queue, not disabled etc etc. The cashier was lovely and said ignore them. I was embarrassed enough using it because I knew people would judge. This has affected us deeply and I will endure pain just to stand in the queue rather than go through that again.

Great selection of clothes for everyone. Reasonable prices. If you see something you like it's best to get it there and then as stock rotation is quick and not easy to get from other stores as they operate the same. Ok quality, was never as good a quality as some of the bigger named stores but they now seem to be coming down to Primark quality but with the same expensive prices they always had.

Customers lined up round the checkout , one till operating, staff standing doing nothing at the self scanners, and wouldn't open another till, shopped here for years , but I won't be back, Matalan tried this a few years ago... Our small group stayed here last week as we were passing through the Stirling area. The location is pretty convenient with a grocery store nearby and plenty of parking. Our check in was a bit awkward, as you literally have to go to the bar in the restaurant - walking through eating area with baggage - sorry. The staff is very friendly and the service during our supper and breakfast was great. The food was also very good, but we found a few items during our travels that were a bit better. The rooms are clean but maybe a bit outdated. It does give you a great feel to local stay, but if travelling in the summer, be advised there is no air conditioning. This didn't bother us as you can open the window for a nice evening breeze. If you are looking at a longer stay, this hotel is not a short walk to the busy area of the city. Thanks for a very nice stay, and again, a hat tip to your welcoming staff.

I decided to book here when looking for a Scottish restaurant and was glad when I did. First impressions of this place from outside to me looks as if it was a wealthy house. When entering the staff welcomed us and got us to our table. Inside the restaurant looks stunning, clean and cosy. We ordered the scotch egg and chicken goujons for starters. The scotch egg itself WOW it was perfectly cooked with seasoned meat around the egg runny inside and with a crust on the outside. It is accompanied by a chilli jam which was faultless. The main courses were perfect I couldn't find any faults with my meal or service from staff. The prices are also reasonable unlike other restaurants. It's a great place for a good meal the food is top quality and fresh, the only thing I should mention is please have a tracker on you so your loved ones can find you when attempting to go for the toilet.

This was my first time here after a friend recommended it. The place is huge, lots of seating. Staff was also great and super quick and attentive. The food did take a while to come. I waited about 30-40 minutes so was starving. I ordered the Chicken Balmoral. It was good but very black peppery, I was tasting it in my mouth all day. The portion size was decent. Did need a side to fill up though. Had the halloumi fries for starter and they were delicious. They were a little cold when they arrived at the table, but the taste was still good. Overall was a good experience, but wouldn’t say this was my favourite food or be super quick to come back.

Absolutely delicious food, fresh, home made. Ordered chicken Balmoral with vegetables. The chicken was stuffed with haggis; veg was fresh and all meal very hot. Tried Scoth egg and olives - Would highly recommend as well. Easy to park. Lovely setting and friendly staff. Will come back to this place to eat as very sensible priced.

This was just a quick look in for a roll and vegan sausage and pot of tea (tea leaves mind). Good quality and service. At higher price range for a snack,£8.05, but all good. Nice tea in a nice teapot and cup combo with strainer. Might be posting another review soon as should be eating dinner there shortly.

Lovely and very fresh food! Not a huge menu but that's our preference - it means the chef can focus on perfecting a few items instead of a laundry list of average dishes. We had the fish and chips - a massive portion - and the smash burger after a shrimp appetizer and every bit of it was delicious and served fairly quickly. The martinis were also quite nice and a very impressive selection of hard-to-find spirits. The staff was quite sweet, with the younger college students doing their very best to serve a fairly large crowd on a Friday night. VERY enjoyable and we hope to be back in Stirling to try it again!

We loved our meal at The Meadowpark. We ordered steak frites and the breaded chicken sandwich and both were excellent. The beef was cooked perfectly and very tender and the chicken fillet in the sandwich was hand-breaded and moist. We tried the s'mores brownie for dessert and it was big enough to share three ways. The staff was friendly and attentive. Highly recommend!

When the "British" restaurant is serving you piranha.. you get intrigued. Untill the rubber sole comes and it's half the size of a piranha and it's chewy. (See photo, a charred tiny piece of badly cooled meat, aka:"picanha") Maybe it's a "serves you right for ordering that", or maybe its just yet another Stirling tourist trap. Wildlife and safari park
Zoo
Blair Drummond Safari and Adventure Park is a family-friendly wildlife park located just outside Stirling. It's home to over 350 exotic animals, including a unique monkey drive-thru experience. The park offers various attractions such as boating on the lake, birds of prey shows, and an adventure playground. Visitors can enjoy free activities like swan boats, go-karts, play areas, and a big slide. Additionally, there are paid options like ride tokens for additional entertainment.
Was pleasantly surprised at how lovely this place was. Very big so recommend nice comfortable walking shoes.. we took our sons buggy as well. You can utlise the BBQ area and have a BBQ lots of grills with space and loads of tables to sit and use.. or can do a picnic! They have a lovely gift shop and restaurant if you prefer to eat there as well as food vans. We had burgers and chips.. chips were lovely but burger was okay. A little pricey but that is expected at an outing like this so no surprise. They have an ice cream van too. Lovely huge park for kids to enjoy of all ages and some rides which is paid extra.. you get a token in the gift shop.. Amazings experience seeing the dinosaur walkthrough area and the enjoyed viewing the animals and the drive through safari was amazing too! Overall we had a fantastic day! I genuinely was so impressed at the safari park and how much it had to offer they is literally so much to see and do and we will be back with a bigger group this time fully experience it.

A fantastic day out!! It’s a bit hit and miss when you visit places like this in terms of how visible and active the animals are but today was perfect. We saw everything up close and wandering around from tigers to lions to giraffes and monkeys and penguins etc. The kids had an absolute ball!!! The safari park is very accessible and an easy drive if you’re using the M80. Booking tickets in advance means you can just have your QR codes scanned from the car window and you’re straight in. I recommend driving straight along through the park (all signposted very well) to the drive-thru safari before parking up and entering the park properly. There are tons of places around the park itself but the main car park has tons of space and is the most suitable for the start and end of your day. Beware the 15mph speed signs and the zebra crossings as there are families and kids all over the place and I know some of the visiting public really struggle to read, have a general impatience or simply have complete disregard for other people so please take care when driving through the park. There’s really no rush. The funfair rides are 1 token each and usually if you have a toddler and you need to accompany them they’ll still just take 1 token instead of 2 which is a great attitude to have. Five tokens is £10. The dinosaurs enclosure is quite impressive and might be a little scary for the young ones with the movements and noises but also very enjoyable for them. There is some covered tables and you can even bring your own BBQ food for the really warm days (check website to book) but there are plenty of outlets open for your burgers, coffees, ice cream etc. and some that are not always open such as pizzas etc. There is plenty to do for the kids such as the sand pits, chutes and play areas if they need a rest from wandering round the park. A tremendous day out even with a little bit of drizzle at times it does not dampen the experience at all!

We had such a fantastic day out! Went with our 4-year-old niece and we all had so much fun. It was the first day of the Halloween activities, and even though we arrived around 1:00 PM, it wasn’t too busy at all. We stayed right until closing because there was just so much to see and do! Tip: start with the drive-thru part first, then park up and enjoy the rest of the day exploring. The food options were great, and there were plenty of benches if you prefer to bring your own picnic. The park is huge, so even with lots of people around, it never felt crowded.

We recently visited Blair Drummond Safari Park with the family, and it was an absolutely brilliant day out. There was so much to see and do, and it really caters to all ages. The drive-through safari was amazing, getting up close to lions, rhinos, and zebras was incredible. All the animals looked well cared for in their enclosures. For kids, the large adventure playground and the pedal boats were a big hit. A fantastic place for a family day out. Highly recommended

Blair Drummond Safari Park is hands down one of the most incredible days out I’ve ever had in Scotland, and I can’t recommend it highly enough. From the moment we drove through the gates, it felt like stepping into a whole new world full of adventure, excitement, and unforgettable experiences. The safari drive-through was absolutely brilliant. Being able to see such a wide range of animals roaming in large open spaces instead of tiny enclosures was amazing. Lions lounging in the sun, rhinos grazing peacefully, zebras trotting by – it honestly felt like being on a real safari. The kids were completely blown away, and even as an adult I couldn’t help but feel just as thrilled. There’s something so special about being able to sit in your car and have giraffes, camels, and antelope so close by. But the drive-through is just the beginning. The rest of the park is packed with so much to see and do that you could easily spend an entire day here and still feel like there’s more left to explore. The chimpanzee island was a highlight – the way the park has set it up really allows you to watch the chimps climbing, swinging, and interacting naturally, which is both fascinating and heartwarming. The sea lion presentations were full of energy and fun, perfectly balanced between entertainment and education, and the bird of prey demonstrations were spectacular, showing off the incredible skills of these majestic animals. There’s also an excellent petting farm and play areas for kids, which made it a perfect family-friendly day out. The playground is huge and so well designed that the children could have spent hours there alone. For those who love rides, the amusement area is another bonus – small rides, face painting, and plenty of chances for treats like ice cream and candy floss. It really does cater to every age group. What stood out the most, though, was how well-kept and clean the park is, and how much care clearly goes into looking after the animals. Every enclosure looked thoughtfully designed to make the animals comfortable, and the staff were knowledgeable, friendly, and passionate about what they do. You can tell this isn’t just a tourist attraction – it’s a place where conservation, education, and animal welfare really matter. Food options were also great, with plenty of choice whether you want a sit-down meal, a quick snack, or to bring your own picnic. There are loads of lovely picnic spots, and the atmosphere throughout the park is relaxed and welcoming. Blair Drummond isn’t just a safari park – it’s a full day of adventure, learning, and fun for all ages. Whether you’re an animal lover, a parent looking for a fantastic family day out, or just someone who wants to experience something unique in Scotland, this is the place to go. I would give it more than five stars if I could. It’s the kind of place you’ll remember long after your visit, and one you’ll want to return to again and again.

What a magical place, we absolutely loved it. There’s a great variety of things to see and do. I can’t believe you get to go inside the lemur habitat and get so up close and personal. This experience and the train around chimp island were our favourites. The entry price is exceptionally accessible and is money well spent. The fact that you get both safari and foot entry all in one ticket makes it nice and easy; no fussy or complicated tiered systems. The food was nice and everyone working there seemed genuinely happy to be there. All in all a great job and wonderful day out.
Ian R — Google review
We only gave ourselves three hours here but you need a full day to get round all of the animal talks and see all of the amazing animals they have on the safari. The Sea lions were so well trained and very smart animals. The tigers unfortunately looked demented with the little space they have to walk round every day for the rest of their lives… The birds of prey show was very interactive due to it being quiet at the end of the day. The owls would swoop right over your head and sometimes land right beside/behind you. There’s tonnes of parking, facilities and a huge play area for the children.
LM — Google review
Overall brilliant day out. Online pre booking is a great idea. Stops masses of queues on the road and in parking areas. Allows a control to people entering the park and seeing the exhibits in one go. Hugely impressive idea. Once in everything is clean, well presented and maintained. Animals look healthy and well cared for. There are a few negatives for me personally. 1) the lunch option for kids (bagged meal thing) is dreadful, you get half a sandwich, crisps, milky way and a yoghurt tube monstrosity and a juice. 2) The elephant, all on its own. It's such a shame. I don't know the background to why only one and how that came to be but in the wild they are sociable and live in family groups. 3) The Wasps!! Omg, I've literally never seen so many wasps in one location in my entire life. They are everywhere, and it's not 4 or 5, it's hundreds all through the park.

Located just a short distance from Stirling Castle, River House Stirling offers a picturesque waterfront setting with stunning views through its floor-to-ceiling windows. The restaurant features a contemporary atmosphere with sleek leather seats and bright blue walls, creating the perfect backdrop for enjoying their seasonal fare and traditional British classics. Guests can also indulge in afternoon tea at Bobbys lounge without needing to make a reservation.
A hidden treasure of a Restaurant in lovely surroundings with a small Lochin and fountain in the grounds. Plenty of seating in this restaurant. Attentive service and the food is of a very good standard.

Simply overpriced and very pretentious for what it is.... Our experience here was rather underwhelming, the setting is gorgeous and the decor is lovely BUT the food is really what let things down, to start Haggis Pakora really was delicious, fresh and very well presented however the main was disappointing. The Steak Sandwich was to be honest something I'd struggle to serve my dog, asked for medium rare steak, it showed up well done and presentation was terrible for a main that was around the £16 mark I expected more. For tea, a coffee, two mains and two starters we paid over £76 and didn't feel it was worth the very high price tag.

Lots of mixed reviews here. We had a reservation and were seated immediately. Place is beautiful inside. However service (while efficient) was just very impersonal and quick. PROS: Space is beautiful If you want a fast meal this is it Space is beautiful CONS -Wife ordered chicken (gluten free) and said it was under seasoned and over cooked. -I got the lasagna. It was overcooked and very oily. -My son ate 1 of his kids tomato noodles and we ended up getting food elsewhere for him. -Smaller servings So many positive reviews so maybe we ordered the wrong dishes?

The mixed reviews on this place are fair. We didn’t book but got a table straight away inside next to the water and the atmosphere was beautiful. The food was tasty but overpriced. We also mentioned having an allergy and they were very cautious of that which was good. The service was not amazing, more specifically the waitress who served us was a little too casual/ unprofessional. We got there about 3pm on a Sunday and wanted a Sunday roast but were told that was unavailable as they had sold out of the ingredients?? It’s a Sunday and the restaurant closes at 11pm- how have they not prepared for this dish? We thought that was silly.

Love this place! Ate here this evening en route to Glasgow. Beautiful decor/lighting and location. Good atmosphere - amazingly busy for a Monday evening! Lovely menu and the best gluten free menu I’ve ever seen! Enjoyed vegetable tempura for starters and then a delicious spicy prawn dish for the main. Hubby had the fish and chips (also GF) and that was delicious too! This place is beautiful and does really good “pub grub”! Two courses for £20 was a great deal too! Wish you were closer to Aberdeen but we’ll definitely be back!

We were served by a lovely wee irish boy called Aiden and I could not recommend enough! Aiden was lovely, made sure we were well looked after and made our drinks perfectly! He was great craic and absolutely made our entire experience. We had the classic burger with a side of fries and the service was excellent, Aiden was super friendly and polite and the rest of the staff were lovely as well. The girl who showed us to the table was friendly and polite too, unfortunately we didn’t get her name, but she started our evening well! Thank you so much to Riverhouse for their excellent food and service!

This is how you run a successful business. Place packed, lots of quick and intelligent staff and the food is pretty nice. There isn't enough parking and the prices are high for what you get, but because the place is packed then the higher prices are something they can easily apply without losing customers. So I can't fault that as a business strategy. Effort has been made to have the interior look very pleasant and the atmosphere in here is good with no riff raff.
Richy H — Google review
First time I've ever sent food back... Twice! Ordered the £20 ragu rigatoni for lunch, which was clearly microwaved pasta swimming in unseasoned tomato water. Asked the waiter (great service by the way no complaints there!) for a replacement curry dish, and I got a watery curry absolutely covered in black pepper in return. Lovely setting but don't think I'll be back.

Castle
Sights & Landmarks
Nestled near the charming village of Doune in central Scotland, Doune Castle is a stunning medieval fortress that dates back to the 13th century. This remarkable stronghold has witnessed significant historical events, including damage during the Scottish Wars of Independence before being restored in the 14th century by Robert Stewart, Duke of Albany. Today, visitors can explore its impressive architecture and rich history while enjoying audio tours narrated by Terry Jones.
So fun fact, Outlander and Monty Python was filmed in certain areas, and some of the rooms were recreated from this castle. The audio guide was great and gave you fascinating information about the history, back stories on outlander, as were as Monty Python and the holy Grail. They also sell shirts for Monty Python in the gift shop along with outlander gifts. The only negative parts is not enough parking, but in the center of town 5-11 minutes away, there is free parking, if you are walking.
Sher P — Google review
Doune Castle is a fascinating and well-preserved medieval fortress that’s full of character and charm. Steeped in history, it’s also famously featured in Monty Python and the Holy Grail, Outlander, and Game of Thrones – making it a must-visit for both history lovers and pop culture fans. The audio guide is fantastic, with fun narration that blends historical insight and a bit of humor (especially if you're a Monty Python fan!). Exploring the grand halls, towers, and courtyard feels like stepping back in time. Set in a beautiful, peaceful location, Doune Castle is easy to explore and not overly crowded. A brilliant stop that combines history, scenery, and a touch of cinematic magic.

We enjoyed walking around. We did not have tickets so we were directed to park in town. It was a lovely walk and likely best to park there in the first place and then follow the signs to the footpath. We thought it would take awhile, but it was really a rather short journey. It was not our favorite castle we visited but fun to see since we have watched Monty Python, Outlander, Outlaw King, and Game of Thrones. I actually wish we had gotten there before it opened and had been able to enjoy the grounds without the crowds. I would say if you are driving by - stop, but I wouldn't make a trip out to see just this castle.
Kym S — Google review
Beautiful castle with a lot of history and stunning views. You don’t need more than 30–40 minutes to explore it, and wearing comfortable shoes makes a big difference. Visiting during the low season is definitely the best — quiet, relaxed, and easy to enjoy every corner.

Here’s another great castle where several movies have been filmed, including Monty Python and the holy Grail. A great courtyard and many floors and rooms to see that are furnished, including a great hall. In the room that I am standing in front of the large fireplace next to the window, there was a scene filmed there. There is one fireplace that is so large. They say you could roast a whole cow there at one time.
Don L — Google review
Nice little castle not too busy. You can be in and out in about 30 minutes maybe an hour if you take your time. A little car park which is free if going into the castle. There is a park around the castle but we didn't venture round it. Toilet facilities out of the castle and a gift shop in the castle.
Stuart — Google review
Extremely good value for money. The castle is well preserved and the audio guide which is included is easy to follow and very informative. The staff are also friendly and kind. If you’re an outlander fan, I would highly recommend.

We were staying in Stirling and visited Doune Castle which is 15 min away. It is famous for movies (Outlander, Monty Python and the Holy Grail, and Game of thrown. It was worth a visit and learn about the history. There is an audio guide which was helpful.

The Gallery Restaurant, located on the Stirling Campus of Forth Valley College, offers a unique dining experience with inventive cuisine and stunning views of the Wallace Monument and Ochil Hills. Run by catering students under supervision, this hidden gem provides fine dining at affordable prices. The restaurant's bright ambiance and friendly service make for an enjoyable visit. With a diverse menu and reasonable drink prices, it's a great option for those seeking quality food in a welcoming atmosphere.
Really can't give this place anything less than 5 stars! What a great idea and good practice for the students who were so so lovely and nice. We went for the three course lunch. The starters were good but duck was slightly overcooked and the other was a tad bit too salty (this is me nitpicking). Everything else was amazing, the mains were perfectly cooked and balanced and the dessert (particularly the panna cotta) was perfect. Well done to all the staff 😊 I will absolutely be visiting again!

Fantastic food and lovely service. I had sea bass starter with fresh peas and cauliflower in batter. Amazing. The main was a lamb pumpkin curry that was sublime. The dessert was a selection of tarts with ice cream. Best torte I've ever tasted. Would definitely recommend to anyone. Gives you the chance to experience great food at a very reasonable price, while supporting chefs in training. Couldn't ask for more

We popped into the Buttercup Cafe for lunch and we are so glad we did! They had a varied menu . We had the hamburger, chicken fingers, sandwich, and chicken ceasar salad. All were delicious and fresh. We also enjoyed coffee, cappachino, and the most delicious slice of cinomon aplle cake. The service was wonderful. The staff was cheerful and kind. We would absolutely eat here again.

Excellent cakes, average sandwich Stopped off here for some quick refreshments... very pleasantly surprised by the cakes which were very tasty. Pecan caramel slice 9/10, rice crispy chocolate caramel thing 9/10. Sandwich however was a little disappointing. Seems like supermarket bread, cheese wasn't melted, pesto likely from a jar too - not a great deal of flavour 6/10. Overall, a nice café, staff were lovely and we came out feeling refreshed, so job done.

Shopping
The Thistles Shopping Centre in Stirling is a vibrant mall with an array of stores and dining options. It provides convenient access to bus and rail stations, making it easily accessible for visitors. The shopping scene in Stirling includes popular high-street fashion brands as well as independent retailers offering unique products. Additionally, the Victorian shopping arcade, Stirling Arcade, features specialty stores such as gift shops and whisky and gin outlets.
We love the new sensory wall! We've also taken part in the Wolf Pack activities before, which are fantastic. The shopping centre always has something fun and exciting for the children to explore.

Biggish modern shopping centre that could be anywhere. Nothing particularly bad or good. It's clean and tidy and has a lot of chains. And that's it really.
Firu T — Google review
This review is more about our first impressions of Stirling, quaint city in Scotland. The centerpiece of the town is the shopping center called Thistles. To the uninitiated Thistle is the national flower of Scotland. It is a mauve coloured flower growing on a bush that grows wild and is so ubiquitous in Scotland. Naturally it symbolizes Scotland. Thistle the shopping center symbolizes the modern part of the town. It is like any other shopping mall. It has M & S, Primark, a pound store, Boots chemist, Body care, a very big Sports Direct, Sainsbury, Costa, Timsons for repair, a Turkish delight stall, nail art, and many other retail businesses. The best part about the town is it is so convenient because the railway station, the bus stand, the Travel Lodge, the pubs and a small night life are all within walking distance. The most beautiful part of Stirling is the Fotth River and the walk along the river. Set at around 40 miles from both Edinburgh and Glasgow, it is called the heart of Scotland. The two historic highlights are the Castle and the Wallace Monument, both stand tall on hills and can be seen from anywhere in the city.

Getting a bit of a white elephant,a lot of the good retailers have left, still some shops but not enough, better going to Glasgow or Livingston
John R — Google review
Nice enough shopping centre, cost £2.50 to park just across the road from it for roughly 2 hours. Most retail units open, it is not the biggest of shopping malls and not much of way of food to be had inside it at all! But think all the restaurants are outside. A couple of “ends” of the shopping mall I found a little cold but all in all very very clean place and toilets also spotless with a decent mix of shops to choose from.
Conner R — Google review
Plenty of brightly lit up shops BUT too many that sell watches. Note the black car is over the line & the bus 🚌,. can't get through. I was wondering where all the shouting was coming from. 22/3/24 Back again to the Indian Cottage for their lovely lunch. So far it's the best in Stirling & their mango lassie is lovely & thick. Now to the thistle ctre. I saw this large wheel barrow stall, selling homemade scones, cakes & biscuits SO i paid the woman £1.30 for her empire biscuit, but i hadn't read the price on the label 🏷️ right, 'cos it cost £3 i could hardly believe it 😱 OR disbelieve it so i had another wee look & it was £3. I paid the lady the £3 & off i went with it in a white paper poke (bag) I sat down further into the Thistle ctre. waiting on my friend coming out of Primark whilst i sat eating a few bits of the biscuit & when she turned up she didn't think that i paid three quid for an empire biscuit SO i went back to double check & that was the correct price & all i told the woman was how nice her empire biscuit tasted & bought quite a large treacle scone from her that was cheeper than the biscuit at £2.50 & later on when I got back to Falkirk i got it warmed up & had butter put in it & it tasted just great 👍 😋

Cafe Aina Restaurant is a cozy eatery located on Cowane Street, offering a mix of Greek-inspired dishes with vegan options. Despite its small size, the cafe serves an impressive array of food from breakfast to dinner, including vegan omelettes, tofu or falafel Souvlaki, and burgers with vegan cheese. What's more surprising is that their daily cake selection is entirely vegan as well. You can either dine in or opt for takeaway and even delivery through Just Eat.
Every time i have been to this place always been very satisfying Honestly one of the best place to have proper traditional greek food and i suggest everyone should go once before they close because the person who serves me every time told me they are gonna be retiring soon as his parents are too old to keep working. Tbh my favourite dish is chicken gyros but the other dishes are very tasty and fresh too, as i tried there chicken souvlaki today with extra halloumi and it was as good as the chicken gyro! The day they will close i believe will be a miss from Stirling. ❤️❤️

Cafe Aina is the best! My 8-year-old daughter and I eat there regularly. At first, I was a little nervous because I was not familiar with the items on the menu. That was quickly resolved when everything was kindly explained to me and suggestions were made based on our likes and dislikes. The food is delicious, and you are sure to find something for everyone. This is a family owned and operated restaurant, and it is a wonderful place to eat, have a coffee, and/or enjoy a homemade dessert (or milkshake, which is our favorite). We absolutely love it!

Absolutely loved our visit to Mint Coffee Shop! The carrot cake and coffee cake were both incredibly fresh and flavorful — just the right amount of sweetness and perfectly moist. We ordered a flat white and a latte, and both were spot on — smooth, rich, and clearly made by someone who cares about quality coffee. The atmosphere was cozy and welcoming, and the service made the whole experience even better. It’s a small place with a big heart, and we could feel that in every detail. We later found out the owner is Turkish, which added a special touch to the hospitality we experienced. Thank you for such a lovely time — tashakorat!

Live music venue
The Albert Halls is a well-established location for live performances, spanning various genres from classical to rock. It also serves as a venue for conferences and events. The recent Elvis tribute show, featuring Ben Portsmouth and his band, was highly entertaining. Held at the historic Albert Hall Stirling, it made for a perfect evening. The venue itself has a rich history and is worth visiting. The staff at the Albert Halls are incredibly helpful, earning them top marks.
Went to see John Lydon: superb. The halls are large enough to accommodate 500 people without being cramped, the acoustics work well for this type of event. Bar reasonably priced when one takes into account the £1 glass deposit Not the venues fault: parking can be a challenge so go early!

Beautiful building, great location and lovely garden area outside. Easy to get to by car, train or bus and can walk from the stations in 5 minutes. Hall was lovely, plenty seating and balcony seating. Although I thought chairs were too close together and wasn't much room between people. Today was a got day and the hall was very warm glad we took a handheld fan. There is toilets on ground floor and a bar to get soft drinks and alcohol. Staff were friendly and very helpful.

Really lovely venue! Great staff and reasonable prices on drinks. And Frank Turner did an awesome show there!
James N — Google review
Albert Halls Stirling is a nice community cultural center in the heart of Sterling. It is a hall that can accommodate 300 audience. It has a cafeteria which has drinks so that you can watch a show having your favorite drink. Remember to collect your 1 pound when you return your glass!😀 There are a couple of smaller Halls which we did not see. There are public toilets and benches outside while you what for the show. The Halls have normal moveable chairs not any pushback chairs like a theater. For watching a three hours music performance the chair are not ideal. The building looks classic. The acoustics could have been better. We watched Tribute to Pink Floyd by Floyd Effect a reminiscent band. The band was out of the world.
K.V. M — Google review
Went to watch Frank Turner here, beautiful building, easy to find your way round and fantastic and kind staff!
Tori — Google review
Hall itself is great for events Pretty annoyed that we arrived shortly after doors opened was still people queuing to get in we got in went tonthe bar to get drinks only to be told it had already closed......this was before 3.45 when doors hadn't opened until 3.30pm ...how are people supposed to get drinks if the bar closes that quickly ? Also at interval when we eventually got to the bar to queue it took us approx 30mins to get served as queue was massive as loads people hadn't got drinks at the start. They either need to allow longer times between dor spending and show stratingnro allow people to get in drinks and seated...or else they need more staff on the bar. Show itself, Stuart Mitchell was brilliant .
Andrea S — Google review
My wife bought tickets for an Elvis tribute and what a show, the Elvis impersonator was Ben Portsmouth and him and his band put on a great show and with the concert being held in the Albert Hall Stirling just made it a perfect night. Also the history around the Albert Hall easily made it worth the trip it's a place I would recommend for a visit. The staff in the Albert Hall couldn't be more helpful 10/10 all around.
Rab C — Google review
Went to see The Ultimate Classic Rock Show, lovely intimate place, not too many people which is great. No videos allowed and no dancing or standing during the performance. All very civilised, which made me enjoy my night. I didn't have to peer round someone's backside to see what was happening on stage. Although like everywhere else a band is playing, there's always those that have had too much to drink and spoil everyone's enjoyment. We will go back to the Albert Halls. If it's of any interest I would highly recommend going to see The Ultimate Classic Rock Show if you get the chance, these guys are brilliant.

The Stirling Smith Art Gallery & Museum, located in Stirling, is a Victorian museum that showcases European art and artifacts alongside British pewter and local history exhibits. Founded in 1874, the museum is dedicated to preserving cultural and historical heritage as well as promoting the arts on both local and national levels. Its diverse collection includes items such as the world's oldest football (c.
This may seem like a small museum for many, but I spent two hours here and could have doubled that time. There is so much history and so many artifacts that are worth viewing. The entry was free, but I recommend dropping a bit into the donation box. This museum is chock full of Scottish history, I loved that the casket (small silver box for letters) belonging to my ancestor, Mary, Queen of Scots, was on display during my visit. The dollhouse was also a big plus for me. The Scottish history, of course, is heartbreaking. The bravery of those who stepped up deserve to have their stories told. The cafe and gift shop are charming. The staff? Just pure Scottish sweetness! If you exit the museum and turn right, you will walk upon a beautiful view of Stirling castle. I definitely recommend visiting this museum. ❤️

Great little Museum with a temporary Mary Queen of Scots Exhibit in 2025. Cafe has great cakes but if you know the difference between a latte and milky coffee best order tea. When I took my latte back explaining it had been overheated, they offered me cold milk 😉

I live in Stirling, and I have walked past the gallery hundreds of times, going back and forth to the golf club. Thankfully, I decided to go inside to view the history of not just Stirling but also various parts of Scotland. It was well worth the visit not just for the historical side of it but also the art work, and the tiger dressed up in "Tunnocks" tea cake rappings. They also have a lecture room that could be worth exploring, the cafe is also worth a visit.
Fred F — Google review
Art work displayed nicely. An interesting temp exhibit on Sudan. Cafe looked enticing though didn't try it. The rest of the museum is focused on "The Stirling Story". Could probably do with a bit of a revamp and prune, felt a bit chaotic and dusty.
Naseef H — Google review
Beautiful building but the rear museum section needs a serious revamp. Some really interesting exhibits but the layout and lighting is very poor.

Beautifully set up museum. A lot to see. Great for kids, they can draw and dress up. Excellent cafe. Lovely garden with sculpture and exhibits in. Great place for a family outing.

Really well laid out museum. Takes you through the history of Stirling. Some beautiful pictures in the gallery as well. Really good cafe, that is reasonably priced

Historic Sites
Cambuskenneth Abbey, located near Stirling, Scotland, is a historic site founded in 1147. The abbey was once one of the wealthiest in Scotland and favored by royals. Today, only the bell tower remains along with the tombs of King James III and Queen Margaret of Denmark. It is situated in a peaceful village and offers a glimpse into medieval history with its collection of grave slabs and architectural fragments.
I arrived here on foot at 9.30 and just so happens the man with the keys, he must stay in a nearby house, opened the gate and the door to the bell tower. The abbey is a ruin with the outlines of the wall clearly visible on the ground but the bell tower is pretty much intact. There are several large information boards and small plaques describing the site. Entry is free, if you have dogs they should be kept on a lead.

This review is about a pretty village across the Forth River from the Riverside of Stirling. It is a historical village with lovely bungalows and gardens. It has a play ground for kids. It is a lovely place to walk along the meadow. The road going out of Cabus Kenneth has beautiful meadows.
K.V. M — Google review
It's now a ruin but the Bell tower is still standing as it was built in 1773 unlike the Abbey which was built centuries before. There is an internal staircase in the bell tower which can be accessed on certain days. You can also get a good view of the Wallace monument from the Abbey grounds
Michael B — Google review
The keeper of the grounds is doing an amazing job. We were there right at open and he gave us an interesting little spiel of the inside of the bell tower. Would recommend visiting if you have extra time!
Jennifer C — Google review
Looked interesting. was locked up despite saying it was open on line. Contacted Historic Scotland and informed them of issue. Receved a prompt response. Re visited site 2 days later and gate was unlocked and was able to visit the site. Tower was amazing and well preserved, lots of informative signs. There is also a Memorial gifted by Queen Victoria to commemorate her distant relative King James 111 of Scotland and his wife who are interned at the site.
Graham B — Google review
Just a mile's walk from Stirling station, Cambuskenneth Abbey is well worth a visit. Beautiful peaceful location and great views to the Wallace Monument in the distance. The site is well maintained.
Joe W — Google review
The Bell Tower is still standing and is quite a beautiful old building. Sadly, the abbey itself is just ruins now. There are many plaques around to tell what each area is believed to have been. You can only visit Cambuskenneth Abbey between April and September. Whilst it would be far more pleasant to visit on a bright sunny day, we still enjoyed walking around in the light rain we had the day we went there.
Lauren — Google review
Only able to view the outside and ground floor of the tower. Various ruins can be seen. Uneven underfoot. Only open from April to September. Free to visit.

Italia Nostra Ltd is a charming, family-run Italian restaurant located in Stirling since 1990. The traditional decor and furniture create a romantic ambiance for an elevated dining experience. Known for its wide-ranging menu of Mediterranean classics, the restaurant offers notable dishes such as lasagna, seafood pasta, and tiramisu. Guests have praised the outstanding food, including grilled sirloin steak and tagliatelle with salmon, paired with a smooth Menabrea beer.
We were seated fairly quickly even though the place was packed. Loved the simple, traditional decor, furniture and tableware. The food was outstanding. We had the grilled sirloin steak, and the tagliatelle with salmon. Both dishes were very flavourful but the steak was the best I've had on this holiday. The house white went perfectly with the salmon and portion sizes were filling. Loved the Menanbrea beer - a smooth, light lager that they serve by the pint. I would definitely go back and 100% recommend.
Renee N — Google review
Amazing dishes; pasta, pizza, soup, all delicious. The deserts were phenomenal. It was a meal that lived up to the fancy Italien aesthetic. The Tagliatelle Con Salmone, Pizza Capricciosa, Tiramisu, and Cheesecake are all dishes I would recommend from my experience. The risotto is the only dish that was described as not so phenomenal by another from my group. The atmosphere, dishes, and service all created an amazing meal, which I would recommend to anyone looking for a fancy/classy meal.

Absolutely the best Italian restaurant in Stirling, probably in the county or even Scotland. My wife and I have gone several times and never been disappointed. Staff are always polite and respectful. The portions are very generous, so don't over order or you'll be taking the delicious food home. 2 thumbs up in my opinion.
Kevin M — Google review
Had mussels and scallops for starters which was great. However was terribly disappointed in the mains. The vodka Salmon pasta was terrible. The Salmon was cold compared to the sauce which made it obvious that it was added at a later stage. The pasta was clumped together and some bits definitely were raw. The carbonara however was decent. Also asked for a pint which ended up being £9. Definitely would not recommend or come again

We enjoyed an exceptional dinner tonight including the Rigatoni alla Calabrese. It was surprisingly authentic and full of flavor. Great service as well!
Joshua E — Google review
This is a popular Italian restaurant in Stirling city center. I would suggest making reservations ahead of time, especially on weekend and evenings. My husband and I didn’t have a reservation either time, but staff was able to locate a table for us which we appreciated! It has a variety of dishes and choices to choose from. We’ve been here several times, being the 22nd and the 30th of August 2024 the last two. We ordered different dishes both times, and we both liked what we had. One thing we have noticed is that there seems to be a staff shortage as the service has been a little bit slower than usual lately, but the staff in general is very polite, helpful, friendly, and knowledgeable. These last two times we’ve been there we waited about 20 to 25 minutes for the meal which had not happened before. Food is always delicious and flavorful, a bit small dishes in some specific cases (Vitello al limone is an example of it) though. Prices are more on the higher end, but still reasonable for a meal that is delicious. You can swap the side dish of your meal upon request. Sadly, there is no choice of whole-wheat pasta for those of us that are under certain dietary restrictions which I would love to see change and I’m sure others would love it too. Overall, it’s a good place, nice environment, kind staff, convenient location, tasty dishes, reasonable prices, and the feel of having a piece of Italy in Stirling!

The food was amazing, authentic Italian cooking. There was a slight wait but considering we hadnt pre booked a table on a saturday night - 100% worth the wait. Serloin steak was cooked to perfection.

If you're wandering through Stirling and craving a delightful meal, look no further than the Loving Food Truck. This charming vintage Citroen van serves up freshly prepared dishes that put a creative spin on classic street food. Operating from Monday to Friday in the heart of Stirling, their menu features tantalizing options like meatloaf flatbread with sweet onion marmalade and veggie haggis tacos topped with zesty pico de gallo salsa.
We called in here for breakfast (on the 22nd June) during our trip to Stirling. The food was sensational - fantastic sourdough toast with fried eggs. It's a bright, modern place with a great atmosphere and lovely staff. Well worth a visit.

I didn't get so far as to sample the food here, though it looks nice enough. I did however have a nice little cappuccino, which I took my time over since I had an outside seat with a fantastic view of the street outside the cafe. Ah, Stirling, what a wonder you are!

On the way from Stirling Castle🏰, the weather was cold and rainy🌦️. On the square, I saw the Our Place restaurant (Home-made meals and drinks). I had a taste for something small and hot. So I chose a vegetable soup with lentils🥣. The soup was really tasty like homemade😏 The staff is very helpful and nice. Surely it is worth stopping here🙂

I went here for brunch with my brother, had never been in before and I loved it. Lovely atmosphere, the staff were all great and the best part of all was the delicious soup and panini that we had. I liked the set up of indoor or outdoor seating and the fact that there was a community type feel. Lots of people came in and out and it was almost like I was a hub for people to meet old and young. Would 100% recommend.

The homemade soup they sell is amazing. There’s a tongue in cheek sign that says they make the best soup in Scotland and I’ve not tasted better than their chicken broth so got to agree! It’s a busy fast food place with nice seating, a wee outside area for nice days and a good choice of home baking, filled rolls and sandwiches all freshly made on site. They seem to cater well for gluten free, veggie and vegan diets too. For a casual quick bite its perfect and always my first stop for fast food in Stirling.

I've had the pleasure to see the owner of this Café at work, and It was a real pleasure. Always smiling with a charming attitude, sometimes in café people works countless hours and tiredness can be decisive in some of our decisions. Believe me, after running for almost 20 years 4 coffee shops, life behind the counter is not always rases and happy dreams. I believe that this is a genuine family run coffee shop and you can give it a try, don't trust too much negatives reviews as not always people are in the right mood to define how was the service whom they have received. Maybe a second time they'll go in, and then they will find that the latest review they wrote could be made more pleasant after hall we are all human, and like every one of us, mistakes are there waiting to make us better for the next challenge. That is an honest point of view from your local guide Giuseppe who has personally seen these people at work.

Been coming here for years, lovely food and excellent staff. Though a personal tragedy befell me upon my last visit. It will haunt me for all my nights left on this earth. Mamma Mia Restaurant is a charming and popular Italian dining spot located in the heart of Stirling's old town. The restaurant offers an intimate dining experience with both indoor and outdoor seating, serving up traditional Italian and Puglesian dishes such as carbonara, bruschetta, chicken cacciatore, specialty pizzas, and fresh homemade pasta. The cozy ambiance with candles and mood lighting adds to the welcoming atmosphere.
We visited Stirling Castle and our bus broke down so we had to find food and came across this gem! Everything was sooo delicious. I think about the house pasta often! The desserts were wonderful and to date the best Italian food I’ve ever tasted!

Food, service and atmosphere was impeccable. I was so impressed by the quality and standard of food. I have not had Italian food like it since being in Italy. Really good food, friendly and attentive staff. We just had some wine and pasta…both were excellent. Sat outside in the cooler patio and watched the world spin as we ate in peace. Loved the experience ❤️

The reason for dropping a star is because one member of staff was quite abrupt when we arrived which kinda set the tone, although as time went on the behaviour became more positive. The food is delicious and piping hot and overall Mamma Mia is a great wee restaurant. I just wish the staff would raise their game as this is the one part that lets the overall experience down.
