A beautiful and almost empty beach. The kids loved it, and found jellyfish, crabs, sea anemones, caves, climbing rocks and lots and lots of bunnies. A lovely day out, all round.

What a stunning place. The sea was fiece when we visited. Lovely visitors centre, great walks. Good parking, motorhomes can stay overnight and they have an elsan point.

Beautiful view, lots of wildlife and wildflowers. You'll meet lots of dogs, rabbits and find blooming thistles within the bushes. The cliffside is very sudden so don't allow your child or dog run off. The trail is very easy if there's no mobility issues.

My most recent royal expedition took me to a charming countryside estate, where my noble quest was simple: secure the finest pumpkin in all the land. Upon arrival, however, I discovered that the farm was hosting a makers market. Delightful chaos! The air was filled with the smells of baked goods, candles, and possibly three different kinds of cheese. Naturally, as an ambassador of charm and fluff, I was immediately surrounded by adoring subjects eager to bestow pats and compliments. I accepted each with grace and a wag of the tail, though I regret to report that in all the excitement, there was no time for royal portraits — the place was simply teeming with people. I perused the stalls, sniffing out local crafts and intriguing human trinkets. There were treats, soaps, knitted items, and mysterious shiny things I wasn’t allowed to lick. The humans chatted; I networked. It was, in short, a very successful diplomatic outing. But the true heart of my mission awaited: the pumpkin patch. Before proceeding, I made a quick stop to greet the chickens and ducks in their pen. We exchanged polite clucks and quacks — fine farm folk, if a bit gossipy — before I trotted off to complete my royal inspection. The field stretched before me, a sea of orange treasures basking under the autumn sky. I took my time, nose to the ground, surveying each pumpkin carefully like a gem appraiser. Too small. Too lumpy. Too pedestrian. And then… there it was. The one. Vast, round, and gloriously orange — a pumpkin fit for a king. With a decisive bark, I declared it mine. My loyal humans obeyed immediately, fetching a wheelbarrow for the royal transport. Naturally, I climbed aboard beside my chosen pumpkin, riding regally through the fields as the crisp wind ruffled my fur. Onlookers surely whispered, “There goes the Pumpkin King.” And so, dear subjects, my farm adventure concluded in triumph: new friends made, local wonders discovered, and the grandest pumpkin secured. Stunning setting, super dog friendly and delicious food and drink. Every member of staff was lovely and helpful. Really can't recommend this place enough! Great place to bring kids too.

Beautiful fruit farm, farm shop, cafe, play area and of course, fruit picking, all at Charleton farm. The breakfast was delicious, lots of helpful staff, very varied menu, lovely deserts. Pick your own or buy from the shop. Very family/kid friendly and accessible.

Excellent Farm shop and cafe. Had breakfast in the outside covered areas. Great service, delicious food and we also bought food items from the farm shop too. They have their own frozen meat items packaged too. Coming back to pick our own fruit. What a wonderful place!

Great place for an afternoon out! Took 1x 10 year old boy and 1 x44 year old husband.. The staff were friendly and informative.. Came away having learned a great deal. £8 each for the adults and son was free. Toilet facilities were clean and smelled amazing! The place was spotless and pristine. The exhibits were truly amazing.. Definitely a place to add to your holiday itinerary...

We found this place while visiting the area. I am huge admirer of WW2, I am so thankful for all the men & women who laid their lives down in service to our country. This place is a great reminder of these who gave so much.

We had a great few hours here on a recent visit to the area. The volunteers are all true enthusiasts and very friendly and informative. Getting up close with the Tornadao was amazing. An added bonus (if you needed one) is that they're dog friendly. Highly reccomended.

Absolutely disgusting food tonight. Arrived lukewarm. Beef chow mein and beef with mushrooms. Neither had any flavour. Beef was so chewy/tough... we couldn't even cut it with a knife. Totally inedible. Binned the whole lot. £30+ down the drain. Don't bother ordering. Have tried to message them. No response. Took 1 and a half hours to deliver.

Food great, excellent choice. 8 friends for dinner banquet menu, everything tasty. Staff warm & welcoming. Decor could do with update but very clean. So sad that it will be closing at end of year 😢

It wasn't bad it's just not to my personal taste. Clean beautiful restaurant. Friendly staff. The food was in no way awful or not cooked right. Just not my favourite. Worth a try. It's the only Chinese I tried who does a actual mild curry which is great. I just feel like a few changes or a different dish would of made it 5 star.

Montrose Beach is wide, windy, and full of charm. The sand goes on and on, the sea makes a big show of crashing in, and the gulls act like security guards checking who belongs. Walking there feels fresh and simple just you, the sea, and the air so strong it clears your head for free.

Amazing beach so close the town and with a classic Scottish Linx in between. Lovely sand and lots of space even in a grey day a lovely place to bring the family. Had lots of really good amenities outside the beach like two places to buy food and a huge great playground. Also cool stuff like. A look out tower.

The beach and the view are amazing, biggest beach I've ever seen! If you don't want to get your shoes wet going down to the beach look for the wooden boardwalk that leads down to the sand, which unfortunately is a bit far from the parking lot, on the left. If you really want to enjoy the beach you should go with the low tide, around 7 pm.

Beautiful duney beach. To access it from the car park you have to skirt the golf course. Don't be tempted to get to the small beach and then walk up around the rocks of the small headland - the sand is very soft and loose and the rocks aren't step friendly. Best start off along the top of the small cliffs, skirt the golf course, and then make your way down onto the big beach when it's safe and easier to do so.

Beautiful golf course, the first 5 holes or so were particularly stunning! I don't think I've hit as many tee shots as spectacular as the 2nd! The course was in great condition too. The only thing is that it took for ever to play. Even as a fourball, we waited 5-10 mins on every tee shot and then again to the greens...seemed to be the whole course as the group on front were waiting too. In the end we walked off after 13 having taken 4hrs 10 mins...

I liked it here so much we have made it home for a while. I love the beach, the golfcourses the history, the selection of shops, pubs and places to eat. The access to Aberdeen and dundee is great. Underrated in my opinion

I would not recommend the Golf lessons. I had a golf lesson booked for 11am on Monday 8th September and was informed by Sean (my instructor) that my lesson had been cancelled, less than an hour before the lesson was due to start. I was informed by Sean that he had been double - booked by a colleague who hadn't looked at his diary when I made the initial booking. Which is odd because the person I spoke with on the phone (Montrose Pro Shop) gave me a range of dates to choose from, so he must have been reading those dates from a teaching diary of some description. Sean did try to offer me further dates, however, I do not know who his (Sean's) clients usually are, but I'm not in the position to just take days off work with less than an hour's notice. Poor effort.

We had the best time! From checking in at the pro shop to a great round of golf, this is a lovely place. There is a good selection of golf wear in the pro shop and the folks there are wonderful.

Montrose 1562 is the finest links golf course that most golfers have never played! It is beautiful, scenic and a great test. Put it on your bucket list alongside Carnoustie. It's every bit as good.

We really enjoyed our visit to watch 'I, swear' this evening. The staff were friendly and professional. The seats were comfortable and roomy. The pizza was yummy. Generally the atmosphere was inviting. Great to be in an independent, community cinema. Thank you.

A fantastic cinema that we visited specifically for the third annual land x sea film festival. A great place with an atmosphere and a sense of humour the building.

Great place to watch the latest cinema releases, as well as a selection of other films that the big chains don’t always show. Beautiful building inside with plenty of little reminders in the decor and ‘furnishings’ back to when it was a swimming pool. We were in screen 1. Large screen, great picture and sound, partnered with bigger than expected comfy seats. Could have been a little warmer but that’s just a personal preference. Adult tickets cost £8 each, but they also do an unlimited use monthly pass option. Free parking outside. This was our first visit but certainly won’t be our last.

First visit and it was a gig. MAC/DC and Bad Actress. Brilliant night and great place. Good bar, nice popcorn. Magic!

What an incredible place it is! Have been there 3 or 4 times, each times spent several hours, watching birds and seals. The staff there is so helpful, they showed us different kinds of birds, explain about their migrations and which birds you can see throughout different times of the year. I was so happy to see Kingfisher for the fist time, and overall, I think I've seen around 20 different birds species. Nice bonus - you can get coffee with biscuits, and also there's a nice play area for children where our son played. The book we got there about Scottish birds is now one of my son's favorites. So much want to go there again!

Very polite girl on the desk but very strange set up. You could view the gift shop and look out of the window but you could not look through a scope or explore the rest without paying. We were told. At that point we just asked to use the loo and looked around the gift shop. Probably the only wildlife venue we have been to where you had to pay. Most places you get invited to look through a scope etc. I guess we should have asked how much but in all honesty just could not be bothered at that point. Funny really the best way to get people interested is to let them see what it’s all about and the best way to sell a scope is to let people look. They are hardly going to wear it out ! Just my thoughts !

It's a very nice place for birdwatching 🐦 you can find out different kinds of birds, ducks🦆 and 🦭 seals here, but during the low tide, you have more probability to see the seals here.

Had to pay £13 gor 2 adults to see a small exhibition of like 2 panels on birds and to be able to look through some scopes. Not sure why that needs to be so expensive. You can't even do a walk here... My advice would be: skip the place and enjoy a free walk elsewhere.

This place is amazing. The walled gardens are incredible. The Tour Guide, Colin, was so entertaining and knowledgeable. I would definitely recommend booking in advance to explore the house, which is by guided tour. There is ample parking. The cafe serves some excellent food and drink at very reasonable prices .

Had a wonderful short break in the North Stables apartment at House of Dunn. The accomodation was well furnished and lovely and warm and I'd recommend a stay there but only if you can handle the 20 stairs up to the apartment 🙂 While there we explored the wonderful gardens and managed to join a tour of the fantastic house. The guide was entertaining and very knowledgeable and managed to answer a variety of questions relating to the history of the property. Well worth a visit. There is also a cafe and they even catered for my gluten free requirements.

Fantastically fun and informative tour around the house. Arguably the best garden in Scotland and we've seen many! Well done to the garden team and our guide who's name in cannot remember.. But she was dressed all in black. And are these paintings Scotland 1st ever Drag Queens? Beware of the Doll!!

Very interesting historic house built in 1730's, by the Erskine family, this house only became a National Trust estate in the 1980's. It has a fabulous stock of documents and art works back to the 14th century. Plus a well preserved stock of historic household items. Some subtle and not so subtle evidence of Jacobite support from the first owner. One of the owners of the estate was the illegitimate daughter of King William IV and there are many royal connections apparent. We had a great guided tour which took about an hour. In addition there is a nice cafe and extensive grounds for scenic walks with views over the Montrose Basin. Don't trust Google Maps for directions - you'll end up on a farm track!

Really enjoyable visit - would recommend the tour of the house the guide we had was excellent and brought the house alive with her stores and facts about the Erskine (Kennedy-Erskine from 1824) family who lived in the house from 1743 until it was bequeathed to the National Trust in 1980

Lovely place. Beautiful NTS house and lovely grounds. Nice cafe and all the staff were friendly and helpful. The 3.30pm tourguide was very knowledgeable.

From the outside the house didn’t look very impressive but on the inside it was one of the best preserved houses I’ve ever seen. The tour guide Carol was very knowledgable and made it very interesting. Just left 45mins wasn’t sufficient:

Hadn't been for a while and it was really nice. A couple of things though, they only had sour dough bread and no other options(not a fan of the sourdough) also we had soup and a wrap and it came with chips. Enjoyed it but a lesser option of just soup and wrap would of been nice.

Its good for watching the football as I like the drop down screen and projector. The wood style traditional feel is good and the pool table is quality. The staff are friendly. I've not eaten here, but I've heard in the past that the foods good. Though for me I wouldn't like to be eating a bar supper as people watch football. either way its still good.

No real ale which is my favoured drink however a pub with good atmosphere, pleasant staff and customers and boasting 4 dart boards, challenge the locals to a game!

Two of the staff I saw when I used to drink there were lovely but the older one with dark hair is absolutely horrible. Came in from a smoke after being a paying customer who had spent decent money there that night and she refused to let me use the toilet on the grounds that it was "paying customers only" I tried to explain that I WAS a paying customer and she screamed over me, I tried to offer money just to use the toilet as my home is a good walk from there and she screamed over me, I apologized for upsetting her and turned to leave then as I was at the door she started shouting abuse at the back of my head, being in a bad mood and refusing to let a paying customer use the toilet is one thing but shouting abuse at someone who was already quietly leaving crosses a line. Completely unnecessary.

Not from Scotland and went in here in 2019 was only having drink and ended up having amazing home cooked meal on a Saturday night. Went 2022 and kitchen wasn't open. Went last week and had sensational Spicy Noodles on a Saturday after the Montrose FC game. So good went back Sunday and had exceptional Steak pie. Cooking is just brilliant and the staff are incredibly helpful. Best food in Montrose.

Been a few times with the wife and kids and the mains are always good and the staff are always friendly. I'll be back again! The only thing for me is the desserts are a bit lackluster. Last time I had chocolate fudge cake that was actually 2 slices of dense, chocolate sponge with a runny sauce over the top. Make them a bit more special and I'll be back every week. I'm still waiting to see the tuppeny nudger make an appearance!

Patties too salty. Not enough fat content. Items missing from burger. Chocolate milkshakes are just a cup of milk with cocoa powder. Loaded fries are good though hence the 2 stars

Waitresses had very little knowledge of the menus. And forgot the drinks order, slow service. 2. There specials were only verbal with no prices and when asked they didn’t know !! 3. Table ware. All burgers were served on a slab which looks good but not practical unless you want to wear your burger !! If they sort out the bad points I will definitely be back. I can’t stress how nice the food was.

Great friendly service. The food was delicious. The sweet potato fries were delicious 😋. This establishment was a rare find which had a great gluten-free menu and vegetarian menu, in addition to the main menu. This suited us as a family with specific dietary needs. ❤️. The mango sorbet and sundaes were delicious as were our main courses.

Nice restaurant in Montrose. When visiting family here, we decided to have a meal here. Is very nice place. Plenty of stairs to get up yo the restaurant, I don't believe I saw a lift so it's not accessible for some. The theming was consistent throughout of being down under. Menu had a great selection and something for everyone. I would say the prices are slightly on the higher side. However they goof quality was pretty decent. The chicken with mushroom pasta. Was a bit too 'mushroomy'. I would come back here again.

For starters we had 12 buffalo chicken wings. They are incredible, and just the right spicyness. We had 1 each of the blue cheese and ranch dips which perfectly complimented the wings. I had the ribeye steak, with creamy pepper sauce and fries. It was all fantastic. The pepper sauce was the best version of a pepper sauce I have had. Again, it was the perfect accompaniment to the steak. My wife had a salad and said it was also very good.

We visited on a Sunday lunchtime and although initially quiet it filled up fast so I’d recommend being early or booking. Located upstairs it’s a lovely restaurant to walk into and were greeted promptly. Service from the moment we arrived was perfect with prompt but not pushy service. Menus have something for everyone and they clearly take all dietary restrictions seriously as have menus offering choices for them all. You won’t struggle to find something delicious to eat here. We started with nachos and mozzarella sticks to start and were delicious. Be warned the nachos various salsas can be a bit fiery but my other half loved that. We had a chicken burger and their own signature burger and both were delicious. Good portions sizes and were both stuffed by the end. Delicious food, immaculately clean restaurant and great service throughout.

Very tasty food, with friendly service. I loved it. The food was a nice fusion of spices (not too hot), but kept the tastebuds tingling. All of the staff, quite young were incredibly friendly, professional and slick. A credit to the team. Good vegetarian options as well. I'd certainly return or recommend.

Went to Roo's the evening before heading home after a short break and wow! It didn't disappoint. The staff were extremely welcoming and friendly, the atmosphere was great and service was fantastic. Timing inbetween courses was really good, didn't feel rushed at all. The food quality was pure perfection. All 3 of us had clean plates with the exception of a few chips or a bit of burger bun. Highly recommend

We weren't quite sure what to expect from a place that had everything from burgers to Thali - could it do anything properly? But yes they did! Large portions, reasonable price and even more important well cooked and tasty. We will definitely be regulars having moved to area.

Meal at Stroma was amazing. I had the indian Thali which I would suggest everyone tries. Not only was it delicious but the prices were brilliant. Ali the owner &chef was a fab host and all staff were fantastic. They also pour a mean pint o tennants
