Great Alaskan Lumberjack Show

4.7
(3991)
The Great Alaskan Lumberjack Show, located in downtown Ketchikan, Alaska, is a world-renowned family-friendly event that showcases live logging and ax-throwing demonstrations by top loggers and lumberjacks. The show features professional ESPN athletes who are experts in logging sports, offering an unforgettable experience for visitors.
We had a really fun time at the Alaska lumberjack show. It was neat to see such talented athletes do really cool maneuvers. They were throwing axes, spinning on logs and climbing upwards of 50 feet in competitions against other lumberjacks. They were chopping trees with axes and doing really experienced lumberjack things! Fun family event for anyone and also very good for kids. We also want ax throwing, which was very enjoyable and worth it!
Trevin D — Google review
This show was GREAT! Fun to watch AND learn a bit about the history of logging. If you get the opportunity, do the axe 🪓 throw. Steve taught us how to do it and we had a blast! Keep up the great work, guys!
Mike C — Google review
If you enjoy a good lumberjack show, you’ll love this one. The format will be quite familiar to those who remember the offerings at Sea World back in the day, or the multiple shows currently touring state fairs. It’s literally next to the dock, so it’s a great option for cruisers with limited mobility or attention spans (particularly the youngest cruisers), and easy to combine with a longer visit to Saxman, the bear sanctuary, etc. The gift shop has a surprisingly good selection and competitive prices, as well - and there’s even 49th state soda at the concession stand!
Megan R — Google review
Just the right amount of cheesy and amazing talent. I really enjoyed this show, it was worth the money. Arrive 15 min early because seating is first come first served. The athletes are really incredible and the jokes and gags were family friendly.
Sara A — Google review
Just a great show. Second time and just as fun. It rained but the covers kept all the rain off. I booked in advance but I think you would be unlucky not to get in, and while changing tickets for a later show was easy, I would leave flexibility. Maybe book online from the ship
David T — Google review
I had a blast watching those lumberjacks show off their skills and humor, but Celebrity cruise ship only gave us a tiny taste of Ketchikan, Alaska, docking from 7am to 3pm. I mean, who can really experience the wild beauty of Alaska in just eight hours? Mark and I got sucked into eating all the halibut and browsing cheesy tourist traps - yeah, we're those tourists. Next time, we're driving up from Seattle and doing it right.
Jocelyn J — Google review
This was a great experience! Definitely within walking distance from the cruise ship. We could actually see the venue from our room. The lumberjack were knowledgeable and entertaining. They gave great performances all day based on the cheers from the crowds we heard all day! Highly recommend this excursion, which was cheaper purchasing directly from their site than booking as a cruise excursion.

Great show very fun and interesting. They kept you laughing at there jokes. I would recommend watching them and good for kids…

Seafood market
The Alaska Fish House is a beloved waterfront eatery in Ketchikan, known for its fresh seafood and casual atmosphere. Located at Thomas Basin Harbor, it offers a variety of simple yet delicious seafood dishes such as Dungeness crab, fish tacos, chowder, and fish and chips made with cod and salmon. The restaurant takes pride in using local ingredients to prepare their meals from scratch, ensuring that every plate is bursting with flavor.
Highly recommended fish place by our tour guide. Line move fast to order food. If you find a seat after you order food. They give you a number you bring the food to you. Indoor, seating with full service bar and outdoor seating overlooking the marina. Salmon, fish and chips was very fresh and breaded and cooked perfectly. The french fries had a chipotle seasoning on it and were fried to perfection. The coleslaws of vinegar based almost like a sweet-and-sour or vinegar sugar mixture. Was very fresh.
Tom K — Google review
The sampler is a good option. The fish tasted fresh and although it isn’t a light-style batter it clung well to the fish. I preferred the whitefish and would probably just get the cod option next time for the value. It was the most tender. Not a fan of the coleslaw. The fries were good but average. The dungeness crab was small and not worth it. It was warm and cold…? Very strange.
Dawn C — Google review
I think this was the best fish and chips we had on our Alaska trip. We tried the Halibut ($32 for 2) and Salmon (I wanna say it was $28 for 2). The service was quick and easy. The fish was fried perfectly and the fries were immaculate. The slaw was tangy which I was not used to but overall worked out with everything else on the plate. Definitely recommend!
Aswathy C — Google review
We stopped in for lunch recently and had a good experience. We tried the fish and chips with salmon, clam chowder, and crab. The mesquite fries had great flavor. The breading on the fish was tasty. The clam chowder was excellent. The Dungeness crab (full order) was great. The crab was smaller and more expensive than a previous stop on our trip, but still good. They only have 2 unisex bathrooms in the place and they were occupied awhile when we were there.
Jimmy K — Google review
This was a place we planned to visit while on our cruise. Even though it was a walk up and order, it was perfect. I ordered the salmon and my husband ordered the halibut and we shared. The meals came with fries, cole slaw and their house made tartar sauce. I'm not sure what was in the sauce but it was delicious. I planned to drink beer from local breweries and there were plenty of options. I highly recommend this stop.
Mary S — Google review
My girlfriend and I split a pound of crab which was around $50.00. Firstly, the quick service was great and our meal came within 10 minutes. They provided free coffee and water once you dine in and plenty of seating with a friendly atmosphere. We went at 10 A.M. though there was still a good portion of people in the restaurant, which surprised me with how quick our food came. The crab had great flavor and barely required butter. It also came out hot and soft, requiring little utensil usage and easy to crack and pick apart. As much as some shops may be chaotic in the surrounding areas, this one was quite relaxing and gave us a break from the hustle and bustle of tourism.
Kjc — Google review
The fish and chips was awesome. We had the Alaska sampler with the 3 types of fish and salmon chowder. Chips were good too. I was skeptical of the coleslaw but it turned out well enough that I ate all of it.
Pei Y — Google review
Honestly phenomenal food. I got the blackened halibut tacos off a recommendation, and let’s just say upon finishing them I had to go find my socks because they were blown right off. Not to mention the very generous portion of perfectly crispy fries. 11/10 lived up to the hype of my coworkers.

Breakfast restaurant
Creperie
Seafood restaurant
Nestled in the lively town of Ketchikan, Alaska Crêpe Co is a must-visit for food enthusiasts. This casual counter-serve eatery has garnered a reputation for its mouthwatering crepes and wraps featuring an assortment of sweet and savory fillings. The diverse menu includes popular options like the Cinnamon Toast Crepe, Breakfast Crepe, and indulgent Egg Benedict Crepe.
This was a great place to grab a quick bite to eat! Yummy! There are savory crepes and sweet crepes. My husband for the pizza one and I had the strawberry shortcake one. The crepe was delicious and wrapped well so it did not leak or cause food stains or anything. The service was prompt and right next to the Creek so we ate right next to the salmon running.
Julie C — Google review
Food We were looking for a sweet option that wasn't overly sugary, and they recommended the apple crepe. To our surprise, it was a larger portion than we anticipated, so we decided to share it. The freshly chopped Granny Smith apples added a delightful tart crunch to the lightly sweetened filling. We truly appreciated the refreshing taste this dish offered. It's worth noting that breakfast, lunch, dinner, vegetarian, and sweet options are all available. Service We took advantage of the quick service window and were greeted by a gentleman who was very knowledgeable about the menu. Our food was cooked to order and arrived fresh and piping hot after a wait of about 10 to 15 minutes. It was conveniently wrapped with napkins provided. Atmosphere and Location This restaurant is conveniently situated just a short walk from the cruise ship berths at 123 Stedman Street, right before the iconic red bridge of Creek Street. We enjoyed our portable snack while strolling through Creek Street, taking in the beautiful scenery. There’s a park bench by the water across the street where you can relax. Outdoor seating would be a great addition.
Tami P — Google review
Quite overpriced for their main salmon crepe. The crepe is good but they barely have any scraps of filling for $30. If you must, get the cheapest crepe because it ll taste just as good. They auto add tip then ask you for more tip. Not sure what the auto tip is for since there's no place to sit. No plates or utensils. Just order at the window and stand outside on the sidewalk in the cold, wind, and rain. Not recommended
Byte C — Google review
While they have a nice mixture between sweet and savory, I will say for the price it’s disappointing. The serving sizes don’t necessarily justify the price. We tried the blueberry and southwest (with avocado). The southwest didn’t have that much in it. They were tasty but nothing extraordinary to justify the over $40 price. Since there is no seating inside or outside, if you want to eat there, you your options are to eat standing nearby under an awning. Again, not particularly bad but the portion sizes and taste doesn’t necessarily reflect the price (personally).
Chrissy — Google review
Super cute crepe shop right outside of Creek Street. We ordered the classic crepe - it was so delicious and perfectly made. Definitely big enough for two people to share. We heard about the smoked salmon option being a hit but wanted something more simple that day. Definitely worth checking out! Their service is provided at the front window and pickup is around the corner.
Kevin D — Google review
The 3 explained. It's like asking the atmosphere of a drive through. The shop is a street side grab and go the docks are right there so that's ok I think. The crepes are stunning, the Pizza Crepe was packed full of meat and stuff, I was starving and it was just what I needed. Staff was swamped but still fast and polite. Overall it was a great grab and go meal when you are walking around downtown
Rick D — Google review
Disappointing. Not worth the money. Ended up paying $60 for 2 crapes. 15% mandatory gratuity is included even though it’s a grab and go place, no where to sit. The salmon crape I got barely had any salmon and mostly filled with spinach
Marina N — Google review
Great on-the-go breakfast for tourists. My wife and I shared a classic breakfast and Nutella & banana crepes and my brother-in-law gave us a bite of his cinnamon toast crepe. The classic breakfast was delicious and filling. The Nutella & banana was certainly tasty but it was just a bit too much and messy so if you're on the fence, I would choose the cinnamon toast crepe for a delicious, sweet, and easy crepe.

Creek Street in Ketchikan

4.7
(1211)
Historical landmark
Creek Street in Ketchikan, Alaska, is a historic boardwalk situated on pilings along the banks of Ketchikan Creek. Once known for its bars and bordellos during the fishing and mining era, it has now transformed into a charming area filled with galleries, restaurants, and locally-owned stores. The original buildings on Creek Street stand above Ketchikan Creek and hold fascinating stories within their walls.
Our visit to Ketchikan was truly memorable, and Creek Street stood out as an exceptional highlight! The rich history behind this unique area is absolutely fascinating. We loved seeing "actors" outside the buildings, sharing intriguing stories and information that brought the past to life. As we strolled down the street, we reached a lovely spot where we could watch the water, adding to the overall enchanting atmosphere. The unique combination of history, beauty, and vibrant local culture made our experience unforgettable. We thoroughly enjoyed our time at Creek Street and highly recommend it to anyone visiting Ketchikan!
Joe — Google review
We had a very rainy day in Ketchikan so we put on rain ponchos and took a walk up Creek Street and kept going about a mile or so past the salmon ladder. River was filled with Salmon spawning and it was so impressive to see. It was August 3rd while we were there. I recommend walking further up the river where you can go down to rivers edge and get feet away from witnessing the spectacular nature event.
Rich P — Google review
The entrance to creek street closest to the ports is the most busiest. I would suggest entering through the opposite entrance closer to Bootleggers Creek coffee. This area use to be the red light district with 30 brothels. Some home talking about the history of their past. You can see eagles, salmon, sea lions, bears near this creek.
Molly G — Google review
Such a neat place! I came here a few years back when our cruise stopped in Ketchikan - saw a bald eagle in a tree . This time we went in the other direction and were able to see ALL the salmon swimming upstream (along with many many dead ones too). Totally different experience but super neat. There's also lots of shops to peruse selling various Alaskan wares. Definitely a must to stop here if you're in Ketchikan!
Sophia C — Google review
It's all tourist shops now but used to be the red light district. Pretty old buildings and a beautiful creek full of salmon - and a seal! Fascinating to see a salmon ladder working. Slightly steep and a number of steps but pretty accessible.
Phil C — Google review
Such a fun area. Loved watching the seals munching on salmon & strolling the shops. It’s very crowded in the mornings when cruise ships first dock, but around lunchtime it clears up. A lot to look at. Beware of the signs at Dolly’s if you have young children though. 🫣
Kit J — Google review
Neat place to walk and browse the little local shops. No chain stores here! A six cruise ship day, so was crowded and busy. Expect some waiting. Easy walk from piers 1 through 4. The other two require a shuttle. These are the ones that used to be an paper mill, converted to cruise piers.
MITCH C — Google review
Beautiful area and great for watching the salmon run during summer! I really enjoyed the experience of walking along Creek Street and seeing the fish leap upstream. One concern I had was seeing people fishing in what seems to be a protected spawning area for salmon. It was a little surprising, especially since some nearby shops rent out fishing rods. I would kindly suggest better signage or visitor guidance to help prevent unintentional rule-breaking, especially for tourists who may not be aware of local fishing regulations. Preserving the salmon run is such an important part of what makes this place special—hope the community can keep it thriving for future generations.

Ketchikan Cruise Ship Docks

4.7
(555)
Cruise terminal
Ketchikan Cruise Ship Docks offer a convenient and easily accessible port with friendly locals and fascinating nature. The downtown area near the docks provides ample shopping opportunities, although some visitors find the lack of Native merchandise disappointing. Local bus tours are highly recommended for a more reasonably priced and authentic experience. Visitors can explore the town on foot, with most tourist attractions within easy walking distance from the ship. Additionally, there are totems to admire near the docks.
A bustling busy port town. The cruise ship dock area throngs with people. The architecture is vivid and colorful. It's definitely a bright place to be. Just as well, since they say that in Ketchikan it rains every 20 minutes day and night, but not for long. The little tourist shops are knick-knacky on the quay, but walk around the interesting town a few blocks inland and you'll find better made and better priced items. The supply of fossilized mammoth bones for pen knife handles is dwindling, but they're still to be found. Once you push through and out of the packed tourists by the qual, this is a lovely town to walk around. Very flat, and very picturesque.
JB L — Google review
We were the last cruise ship of the year, and we really appreciated that the city of Ketchikan and all their businesses remained open for us. We were told several times that as soon as our ship left all of the shops and restaurants would close for the season.
Joe S — Google review
Excellent location and easy access with a very short easy walk into town. Friendly staff. We took a wildlife cruise tour and had no issues getting in or out and back to our ship. Love this town. So pretty!

So excited to land for my first time in Alaska! I hit all 50 states and my feet touched the ground first in Ketchican. We really enjoyed Creek Street, watching for wildlife and viewing the snowcapped mountains. We stayed for 8 hrs and then floated on. Would come again
Larry M — Google review
Came here on a cruise in May recently. Ketchikan is a bigger city than those the ship docked earlier in the cruise. Easy to walk about from the dock, started on the east side towards the Totem Heritage center, followed the creek and finally ended at Creek Street.
Google L — Google review
We caught the 4th of July here and it was just lovely! Small town parade, great people, extremely expensive but very nice!

The Ketchikan Cruise Ship Docks are the bustling gateway to one of Alaska’s most iconic coastal towns. Situated right in the heart of the city, they provide convenient access for passengers to explore Ketchikan’s unique charm, from its historic Creek Street to the vibrant waterfront shops and galleries. The docks themselves are well-maintained, with clear signage, helpful staff, and easy boarding and disembarking procedures that make the flow of cruise passengers smooth and efficient. From the docks, visitors are immediately treated to scenic views of the harbor, framed by forested hills and colorful buildings, with seaplanes and fishing boats adding to the lively maritime atmosphere. For photographers, it’s a perfect spot to capture the mix of industry and natural beauty, with ever-changing light reflecting off the water. Whether you’re stepping off for a day of excursions, kayaking, or exploring local culture, the Ketchikan Cruise Ship Docks offer a welcoming and organized starting point for your Alaskan adventure.
Paul P — Google review
Ketchikan is the first visiting city in Alaska by the cruiseship. It means "thundering wings of an eagle" in Tlingit language. When you get off the cruiseship, you can see the village in front of your ship. Downtown Ketchikan is very walkable. It's like a charming small village. You can see salmons that swim upstream. Salmons are anadromous. (highly-oxygenated water of upstream rivers and streams provides the ideal environment for their eggs to develop) It' s the mystery of nature.

Ketchikan Crab & Go is a seafood restaurant that offers generous portions of king crab, halibut, and crab cakes. It's particularly renowned for its homemade clam chowder. The cozy and relaxed ambiance with stone walls and wooden accents creates a welcoming atmosphere. The dining room has ample natural light from the windows, while the waterfront patio provides an outdoor dining option. Visitors have praised the foot-long king crab legs and the flavorful clam chowder.
Atmosphere – 5 stars Located in the Salmon Landing Market right in the heart of the tourist area, this spot has an easygoing, casual vibe with warm nautical decor. There’s plenty of indoor and outdoor seating, and we were able to get a table right away. The space was very clean and inviting — a great place to relax and enjoy fresh Alaskan seafood. Service – 5 stars Our server, Tiffany, was absolutely fantastic — super friendly, helpful, and checked on us multiple times to make sure everything was perfect. Excellent, attentive service from start to finish. Food – 5 stars Yes, it’s a little on the pricey side — but completely worth it. We had the best King Crab we’ve ever tasted, along with halibut fish and chips that were cooked to perfection. The clam chowder was rich and flavorful. When in Alaska, you’ve got to treat yourself, and this is the place to do it. Don’t skip the King Crab legs — they’re a must!

We stopped in this town during our Alaska cruise, and after walking around and exploring, most of the food spots felt a little too touristy. Then we stumbled upon this place—and I’m so glad we did. Our bartender took the time to explain the menu and how the food is sourced, which was impressive. The rest of the staff was just as welcoming and informative. It felt genuine—unlike a lot of other places that just try to move you along. The atmosphere was great, with beautiful views. The clam chowder bread bowl was one of the best we had on the entire trip. But if there’s one thing you have to try, it’s the halibut fish and chips—hands down some of the best I’ve ever had anywhere in the world. I can’t wait to come back to this town and enjoy a long, relaxed meal here again.
Dan V — Google review
All of the staff was attentive but Rochelle was the best. She gave suggestions, gave us the background of the restaurant, and answered any and all of our questions. The red king crab was succulent and so flavorful even though is served chilled. The crab fries are pricey but so worth it and much better than Maryland's crab fries.

If you are in Ketchikan on a cruise or a visit this place is a must do. The halibut fish and chips was heavenly, with white flaky fish in a perfectly (I mean perfect) light batter. We also tried the crab patty melt which was absolutely delicious and of course the cold crab was amazing. Madison, one of the owners, was a delight along with our waitress. Again, this is a must do if travel to Ketchikan.

Crab & Go in Ketchikan is the perfect spot for a quick and delicious lunch right on the pier. The crab was fresh, flavorful, and perfectly cooked—easily one of the best meals we had on our trip! The staff was incredibly kind and welcoming, making the whole experience even better. We stopped in just before heading back to our cruise ship, and it was the ideal way to wrap up our day in Ketchikan. Highly recommend grabbing a bite here if you’re in town—you won’t be disappointed!

Tl;dr - Delicious food in the touristy part. I tried so hard to go find a place further away from the cruise terminal just cause you figure it's all just tourist trap places not focused as much on quality. After losing that battle with my family, we were all happy to have found this place. It was steady traffic. Even getting there at the beginning of lunch we were seated (party of 4) within 10 minutes. It's not a large dining room, and there is also patio seating. Servers were very helpful and polite/professional. This is a crab joint and they do it well and quick. We also ordered the chowder and the halibut & chips. Food came out in short order and we got to work. It was SO much crab. It comes cold with hot/warm butter. Went well with the local draft beer. For the amount of crab, the bucket looked tiny, but it ended up being the perfect size. There was so much meat on the dungeness and king. The halibut was good, and completely overshadowed by the crab. The chowder had a sweetness to it from the fresh seafood in it. Highly recommend.

Fat Stan's Sports Bar & Pizzeria is a popular spot for locals and tourists alike, offering a great selection of hand-crafted cocktails and Italian pizzas. With its friendly staff and lively atmosphere, it's an ideal place to mingle with the locals and immerse yourself in the culture.
Great spot near the boats - good drinks and the pizza is awesome. Service is focused and works hard, make it a great experience. We grabbed a table when another family got up. Seating may be difficult as it’s a pretty small joint.

Food After leaving the lumberjack show, we set out to find a place to eat. We stepped inside and waited a few minutes for a table. At the counter, we ordered jalapeño poppers, a pepperoni pizza, a soda, and a canned mojito. Unfortunately, the jalapeños had not been cooked before being topped with mozzarella cheese and bacon, leaving them a bit too crunchy for my taste. The pizza was decent, but neither dish was compelling enough for us to return. Service We placed our order and paid at the counter. One staff member managed the order counter while another worked at the bar. However, there were no employees available to check on customers or refill drinks. Atmosphere and Location This restaurant is conveniently located just a short distance from the cruise port, right next to The Fish House and the Lumberjack Show. The space feels cramped, with supplies stacked in the walkways and tables positioned very closely together. There is not a public bathroom.
Tami P — Google review
Conveniently located just outside the lumberjack show and walking distance from the port. Shares a public restroom with the rest of the shops and restaurants in the immediate area and it was conveniently located above the restaurant. It was a little cramped with stock stacked neatly around the bar; but has a great vibe. The 10 inch pizza is enough for two. You place your order at the counter and they bring it to you. If you're looking for a crispy, thin crust with a puffy edge this pizza checks the boxes. We stuck with the classics - a pepperoni and a plain cheese however they did have some interesting combinations.

The place was packed so it was tough to get seating and when we did they were uncomfortable bar stools, fine so far. Then we ordered $130 worth of pizza only to sit down and ask for 8 water cups and when we did the bartender gave a steep eye roll and slammed the water pitchers on the table twice. So clearly she hates her self and wants to reflect that in the workplace. Do better lady

Great spot to get yummy pizza and beer! We had been fishing all afternoon and this hit the spot! Friday night special was any large pizza and a pitcher. Our Fat Stan pizza (pepperoni, sausage, and prosciutto) was cooked perfectly and the crust had such a great flavor! Also, some one mentioned no public bathrooms which is not true. They are on the second floor which is accessible by stairs or elevator.

We had such a great experience at this pub! Our bartender, Cheyenne was absolutely awesome - fun, welcoming, and full of great information about the area. She made our visit so enjoyable that we came back after our lumberjack show just to see her again! Her parents definitely raised her right! Thank you, Cheyenne, for making our time in Alaska extra special!

After watching the Lumberjack Show, we went into Fat Stan's for a pizza. I had seen drinks on YouTube called Duck Farts. Saw a sign at the bar for Duck Farts and ordered 2 for my wife and I. We toasted our first stop and downed them. Whew, pretty good. The pizza showed up. It looked, smelled, and tasted good. The 4 of us devoured the pizza.

Seafood restaurant
Alaska King Crab Company is located in Ketchikan, a renowned fishing destination with a rich history of seafood. Visitors can enjoy the legendary Alaska seafood at this establishment, which offers a variety of dishes including crab legs, Dungeness crab cakes, and clam chowder. The restaurant provides great service and a welcoming atmosphere for tourists arriving from cruise ships. Customers have praised the delicious fish n chips and the picturesque view of the harbor as ships sail off.
We came here at the recommendation of our local tour guide. Arrived around 11am, and this place is already packed. Ordered halibut fish and chips, and the king crab combo. All seafood tastes fresh and delicious.

Ok, it's a touristy place as it is right on the pier, but it was surprisingly not too busy when we went in around 3.30 pm. We quickly got seated at a table next to the window and the server was very quick to get our drink order. Once our drinks arrived he took our food order which was 2 King Crab legs and 1 King Crab claw. We knew the order was $218 plus a side order of fries and a beer, which came out to $230. Yes, pricey but hey when do you get to eat fresh King Crab? The food came out quickly and was delicious, the Crab was succulent and juicy and everything was fine. Then the bill came, and now I'm not one to skimp on tipping, especially if the food and service are good. But to have a "Kitchen Tip" and an "Automatic Service Fee Gratuity" of almost 20% already added, for an automatic tip total of $50 I was shocked. I wonder how many people don't see that and tip on top.......needless to say my additional tip was "0". I might have tipped more if I didn't feel like I was conned. Good food, good location, good service. Bad tipping policy.

Good atmosphere and wonderful staff. Food was a bit lacking. Chowder was bland, and the Halibut Fish and Chips albeit good, was a bit plane too. It's a reminder that Cod Fish n Chips is always the way to go.

This is great.. We were well looked after.. tried the Captains Plate, which was Crab, coconut shrimp, Halibut, crab wontons. Great value, the beer sampler was definitely worth a try. I think I loved the Amber. Our server, Gabe, was terrific, and really attentive. Food quick and good portions.

This was an excellent experience for us! The waiters/waitresses were very helpful. We are the crab wantons. It came with a chili sauce to dip them into. 5/5 loved them. Then we got the Colossal king crab1 lb(unfortunately the picture I took didn't save 😞). It was so delicious! Met our anticipation.

I had high expectations being in the salmon capital of Alaska but… I ordered salmon and coleslaw, neither had much flavor 😫 my husband had a plate of fried platter and it was delicious. I wish I had gotten what he got. Service was good.

Awsome meal! The biggest king crab claw I've ever eaten. Our server was very attentive. Halibut also incredible.

The best crab I've ever had! Bite the bullet and go for the colossal king crab leg and two claws. You won't regret it! We also ordered the Captains Plate which had awesome halibut, crab cakes, crab wonton, and coconut shrimp. Great meal! The food is a bit pricey, but i dont think you'll find a more fresh and tasty catch anywhere else, so its totally worth it.

Delivery Restaurant
Good Fortune Restaurant, located on Creek Street, is a popular choice among students for its delicious Chinese cuisine. It is known for its home-cooked style dishes with an emphasis on using more vegetables and less oil. The restaurant offers a variety of options including sushi rolls like the Flying Dragon Roll which is not only tasty but also beautifully presented. While some patrons have found the service to be average, others have praised the quick delivery of hot and delicious meals such as beef and broccoli and sweet and sour shrimp.
A great place to have Chinese food and sushi. The owner is very nice. Ordering food here can be a little bit different. They'll give you a note pad. You'll write down what you want and they will bring it to you upstairs. All in all a pleasant experience and is a must visit for me when I come through Ketchikan.

The food I received was very poor quality. This was suppose to be chicken sweet and sour. There was one bell pepper, two slices of pineapple and meat was very dry. I think the meat was over cooked. Sauce was extremely sweet.
Tina N — Google review
Rice was bland, no veggies, just white rice with soy sauce, spring rolls were not drained = oily, orange chicken was to orangey.
Jose ( — Google review
Went to Good Fortune with a coworker after a long day of work. We each got a meal and split a sushi roll. First, we got the Flying Dragon Roll. It was incredibly tasty and the presentation was phenomenal. It looked like this cute little dragon flying across the plate. Then the plates were brought out. The food wasn't as good as the sushi, but it was still hot and filling. The service was meh. I had to ask for a refill on my water and it never got refilled again after I finished off that refill. Overall, if you're in the mood for great sushi in Ketchikan, highly recommend.

Ordered 6 boba drinks. It was literally the NASTIEST I have ever had BY FAR! It tasted like surgery candy water. Nothing like The Thai tea I was supposed to get. We threw our entire order in the trash. You couldn’t pay me to drink this. It was absolutely disgusting!

A hard working family run operation that I’ve been coming to for years ever time I’m in town. I’m especially fond of their wonton soup that’s filled with fresh crispy not overdone vegetables. I’ve had other dishes here as well which I’ve liked. It’s a nice change from the heavy American diner, burgers, fries, and pizza which is pervasive in town.
Steve S — Google review
The restaurant is a bit like a fast food restaurant where you get served in styrofoam dishes. Busy lunch period but the waitress didn’t bother to wipe the tables, pick up the old leftovers from previous patrons and leave the sticky dirty tables. Also, seemed like she is overworked or had no time for anything. Left my tea on the table and ran off. I think I heard the cashier complained about tips left on the credit card in front of us and the guest already had cash for tips. A bit embarrassing for them. 😬self-seating, lots of cutlery on the table, and plastic cutlery to use. On the positive note, the place has good food. No complaints there. Just needs work on service, cleanliness, and organization.

East side of town
For day 2, we recommend exploring the east side side of town. Start the day off with Saxman Totem Park, then wind down and take it easy by the time you get to 108 Tap House & Burger Bar. All together, your day would be filled with about 8 hours of non-stop fun.

I’ve been to many native and First Nations longhouses, dance performance’s, and carving studios. The collection of standing polls, carving studio, and the second largest longhouse I’ve been in is definitely worth the trip and seeing. Our guide was friendly and knowledgeable. I’ve known about Nathan Jackson’s work and it was great to meet him and see him passing on his craft to the next generation of carvers. Highly recommend if you’re in Alaska. Fly out or catch a boat.

We took the silver line bus to get to the park. The bus requires exact change, $2. It was a small park but very easy to get to and it is nice. BTW, the stop for the return bus back to town is not where you get off but up the road next to the park's gift shop!

A bit run down. Numerous missing signs that would inform history and context. On the whole very cool and with much potential. Needs someone who can generate some basic grant money to do some needed maintenance. Culture and history are beautiful. Want to see them shared.

We visited the park as part of a tour scheduled via the cruise ship. Very interesting place with lot's of history. We learned how the master carver would tell his story via the artwork on the totem pole. Also saw the wood shop where a new pole was being carved. Very spiritual experience.

We loved the tour with this company. Jeff was amazing! His knowledge of the area was outstanding! My husband and I were thoroughly impressed. If we’re ever in Ketchikan again, we’ll look this company up for sure and use them again. Such a pleasant experience with Jeff!
Rasheedah K — Google review
The totems were amazing and our guide knew everything asked! Was disappointed in the dancing as it looked like it was put on by my nieces 1st grade class. The costumes were blankets over jeans and t-shirts and some of the performers were just kids playing instead of dancing. Then the carvers, which is 1/3rd of the excursion, were on break. Without our guide being so knowledgeable this would've gotten a 1 star.

The Totem Heritage Center in Ketchikan, Alaska, is a museum dedicated to preserving and sharing the artistic traditions of the Haida, Tlingit, and Tsimshian peoples. Founded in 1976, it houses the world's largest collection of unrestored 19th-century totem poles. Many of these intricately carved poles were recovered from uninhabited settlements on various islands.
Visited here in June 2025. Walked here from the dock and followed the creek. There are buses that will drop you off, but if you are out walking around town, you can make it by foot. Entry was six dollars. It was cool to see the history and old totems. Worth stopping in if you like history. Only spent 20 to 30 minutes to see the whole museum.

It is a very nice museum with a lot of examples of native carvings and totem poles for your viewing pleasure. Totally worth going if you like history, culture, and art. There is a free shuttle you can take from town, it's part of a loop that includes the salmon run. Would have lovwd to check this place out but they would not accept our cash (unfortunately we only had a $100 bill and 2 × $1 bills) There's no signage or notifications anywhere prior to the actual museum ticket window. They will ONLY accept $50 bills or less The reaspn provided was due to counterfeit money in the past. Pretty unfortunate for a city-run attraction

Restaurant
New York Cafe, located inside the New York Hotel in Alaska, offers a cozy and rustic setting with warm interiors and bar seating. Dating back to the 1920s, it is one of the oldest restaurants in Alaska and is part of the historic Inn at Creek Street collection. The cafe serves a variety of American comfort food and drinks, including baked goods as coffee accompaniments. Additionally, it features a full lunch and dinner menu with seafood-focused American and Mediterranean cuisine along with live music.
Highly recommend eating and experiencing here! The staff was great, particularly Hannah! Tried some draft beers in a flight and had the chowder. Hands down on of the best chowders I have had if not the best! The sourdough bread that comes with it too is excellent! This is a great local spot with true local food and spirit! It is further from the Cruise port and seems most people don’t drift down to see the rest of town. It’s worth it! Come on down and support this kind and tasty business with a neat vintage bar!

We had the Cathead biscuits and gravy, and a side of bacon with scrambled eggs. It was great and cooked very nicely. The biscuits were huge and fluffy and there was plenty of gravy. The eggs were perfectly folded and griddle cooked. The bacon tasted great and was not floppy, tasteless beef jerky like most of this towns bacon. There was great local art with a comfortable sit down experience.

Absolutely amazing food. My partner had the scallops and I had the Mediterranean Burger and both were well worth it! We also had hot chocolates (I had 2 😂) and they were great! Table service was more then anyone could ask for and the lady who served us was lovely. Would recommend stopping in when in town.

We stopped at the New York Cafe and wanted to share that the service provided by Hannah was exceptional. She was welcoming and polite throughout our visit. We must also commend the barista for pulling a great shot of espresso; the coffee was high quality and full of flavor. Additionally, we found the food to be enjoyable and fairly priced. The cafe itself was comfortable and warm, which was especially pleasant after walking in the cold rain.

I couldn't tell why because it didn't seem like she had a lot of tables. The salad was good. Great greens; great fish. Loved the toppings with the salad. The goat cheese was good and the pita pieces were delicious. The cod burger and fries were good as well. Great view and convenient location.

This is a gem of a restaurant. We arrived 10 minutes before they opened in the morning so that we could get a table for four. The coffee was delicious. We all had the smoked salmon scramble, and it was delicious. The staff was incredibly hospitable. If you want to have dinner here, you really need to call for reservations. The Tongass Historical Museum in Ketchikan offers a fascinating journey through the city's diverse history, from its origins as a Native Alaskan fish camp to its evolution into a bustling mining and timber town. Visitors can explore rare artifacts, historical photographs, and modern Native Alaskan art that showcase the area's transformation over time. The museum features permanent and temporary exhibitions on topics such as Northwest Coast arts, aviation, logging, and commercial fishing.
Excellent exhibits and beautiful view of the creek! The museum is affordable (under $10) and free for military! Be sure to donate. The displays are informative, well kept, and specifically mention some of the more unsavory parts of history which is often overlooked or intentionally ignored for the glorification of colonialism. Highly recommend.

A small little compact museum, but all exhibits give you a true sense of the history, culture, and enduring strength and spirit of the people of this salmon city-Ketchikan. It’s provide information about the past Like mining, fishing, cannery, totem poles, Tlingit people and new exhibits are about the new local life. Good to spend 1-2hours reading through the information of course it will be great if tour guide are there to explain more lively information. The reception young staff is patient and explained how we should go round visiting museum. There is a free shuttle bus stop right outside the museum which gave us much convenient during the rainy day.

IT WAS TERRIBLE! My mom who is in her 60s really needed to use the restroom. The woman working at the front desk refused to let her go to the bathroom because they were cleaning it. I would understand if the bathroom was being repaired or there was a plumbing issue. But the fact that it was just being cleaned and she really had to go and the front desk woman wouldn't let her is just ridiculous! She is also in her 60s so it's not like she can run to the nearest bathroom in a restaurant or cafe. If I could give this place zero or negative stars I would. It just about decent human compassion and giving a person some dignity. It honestly really soured the whole experience in Ketchikan. I understand when staff don't like rude tourists or even tourists over taking their town. But my mother wasn't rude and even begged because it was an emergency. I want to save my mom some dignity but to put it mildly it was a humiliating experience for her to walk back to the boat to clean herself up. Please train your staff properly and allow an elderly woman some dignity the next time she asks to go to the restroom even if it's being cleaned. It literally only takes an additional 10 minutes of patience. Nothing more.

Awesome day with Tim as our guide! He took care of all our fishing needs and made sure we had a great experience. All six in our group caught many fish. Salmon and rock fish. We then went to the company's private beach where Tim and crew cooked us an amazing lunch with the fish we caught in the most beautiful setting. Worth every penny!

My wife and I recently had an absolutely incredible fishing trip with Baranof Excursions, and I can't recommend them enough. From start to finish, this was exactly what we hoped for in an Alaskan fishing adventure. Our guide Landon was exceptional - friendly, knowledgeable, and incredibly patient. His expertise really showed as he explained what we were doing and why, making the experience enjoyable for us as beginners to Salmon and Halibut fishing. The boat was well maintained, fully covered, and gave us a smooth ride out to the fishing spot. The ride was half the fun, Landon pointing out tons of different wildlife and great views of the surrounding mountains. Our group managed to land 2 salmon early in the trip, and when the salmon bite slowed down, Landon quickly transitioned us to halibut fishing, which turned out to be the highlight of our day. We caught an enormous 85-pound halibut that was absolutely thrilling to bring in, it put up an insane fight and getting it into the boat was an adventure in itself. What really impressed us was Landon's dedication to making sure we had the full experience. When the massive halibut broke the net, he went above and beyond to still get it safely into the boat without so we could get our trophy photos, even though the fish was too big to keep. At the end of the day our group caught 2 Coho Salmon, 2 Sharks, a Flounder, and 4 Halibut. The combination of professional service, top-notch equipment, stunning scenery, and fantastic fishing made this a truly memorable experience. If you're looking for a fishing charter in Ketchikan, Baranof Excursions should be your first choice.

My son and I went on an excursion while cruising with Celebrity. The day started with amazing weather, blue skies and got to a high of about 70 degrees. Our captain was Talon and he put us in a group with 4 other guests and got us on fish within 10 minutes of leaving the port. He was safe, quick with securing the fish and we were able to keep the fish coming, each of us getting several before heading to the lunch spot. He even let us troll for salmon and we caught some pink salmon for lunch in addition to several different types of Rock Fish. The lunch was amazing and it was one of the best days of our cruise.

We had the best experience with Captain Andy today! We set our crab pots then went fishing for halibut. After catching a lunch’s worth, we harvested our pots. Andy and the team cooked the crab and halibut at their campsite and it was the best dish of the week! Highly recommend this fun yet professional outfit.

We went fishing for Halibut off the Ketchikan coast with Baranof Fishing Charters booked thru our cruise line. Captain Garrett put us SPOT ON the Halibut. We caught 22 good sized Halibut in 3 hours. He was so nice, professional & did a fantastic job of netting our fish and giving us tips on catching. This was TRULY the highlight of our Alaskan adventure. He really worked hard to make this the best experience possible. The boat was comfortable, roomy and well maintained. He provided us with several kinds of bait & lures to have the full experience. He then treated us with a salmon dip & gourmet cookie snack on the return trip. We could not have asked for a better experience. If you are fishing in Alaska, I highly recommend Baranof. (Ask for Cap'n Garrett!)

We caught fish all day, the weather was great, the water was calm, the gear and boat were excellent, the guide knew what he was doing, the eagle sightings were a bonus, could not ask for more to make this trip special. Thanks to David Smithers our guide and Baranof Fishing Excursions. Your outfit and David made it a memorable day fishing. I can recommend this trip and this outfitter. Great little pub for a quick bite to eat. The coleslaw is savory with a hint of citrus and a little sweet tang. The chickens sandwich was fresh and tender. This is a great stop if you’re in between excursions like we were. Yummy!

Wife and I stopped in after a tour off the cruise ship. The place was packed, but we were first up, so we got in pretty quickly. I had the Earl Grey Old Fashioned. My wife had the Pear Martini. Both drinks were delicious, higher end mixology than we expected. When we walked in, we saw the burgers from other people's orders lined up and they looked great, so we went with those. I ordered the firehouse and she got the 108. The firehouse burger was a greasy cheesy mess of joy. OMG, the habanero aioli was soooo good. My wife said the truffle aioli on her 108 burger was juicy and yummy. Highly recommend this place if you're in town and don't want seafood.

Highly recommend as your lunch or dinner stop in Ketchikan. I’m from Buffalo and their wings were better than most Buffalo bars. The burger was delicious, beer was excellent, servers and bartender were very friendly and kind.

Delicious burgers, and craft cocktails! We really enjoyed our visit. Left with happy tummies and a good buzz. :)

I ordered the 108 burger with loaded fries. Everything was great. I liked the cheese sauce on the fries and the homemade pickles and aioli sauce on the burger. I enjoyed the coconut margaritas as well. Service was excellent.

Quite possibly the best burger I’ve had, ever!! We came by for dinner and had a great experience. The place is super small, only a few tables and some seats at the bar, but I absolutely loved that. The atmosphere was super energetic! They have a great list of local beers and their liquor selection was also quite impressive. We ordered a few brews but the bartender was slinging some really fancy, and tasty, looking cocktails. The food menu was equally impressive with a large number of burger options to choose from. We started off with an order of wings, which had very tasty hot sauce, but moved quickly to order dinner as the whole place smelled of delicious burgers. A few of us ordered the 108 Burger and one of us ordered the Pacific Northwest burger. The 108 burger was absolutely phenomenal!! The flavor was insane and paired very well with the 108 fries that came with it. Everyone enjoyed their burger so I can’t imagine you can go wrong with any of them. This place is a must visit, whether you’re here for a few days or a few hours. Excellent experience!!

Polar Treats, a hidden gem in Downtown Ketchikan, offers a delectable array of specialty sandwiches, paninis, and wraps. This charming eatery is perfect for a quick bite or leisurely lunch. With an extensive menu featuring scrumptious options like turkey and cranberry panini and salmon wrap, this place is sure to satisfy your cravings. The service is friendly and efficient, with a good variety of sandwiches, beverages, and other items available.
Cute little coffee, deli, & ice cream shop in a covered alley-way just outside the discovery center. The customer service was excellent and prices weren’t insane. The there is a small seating area indoors and some just outside the shop. I ordered a latte with oat milk and my wife had a hot chocolate. Both were great!

Wonderful coffee and bagels, the ice cream was amazing. All the staff was wonderful except one of the owners daughters who was definitely short with the customers. Loved it here and as we are in town would love to come back.

My husband and I had a great lunch experience here - we came around 1pm and only waited about 10 minutes for our sandwiches. I had the Ketchi Club and there was a ton of meat on it. Also, the bread itself was very tasty. My husband had the low carb wrap and he said it also had a lot of chicken in it. We had two iced coffees - an Americano and a caramel latte - both had great taste! Employees were very nice and got our orders perfect! The menu at the main desk has the pricing on it.
Shauna B — Google review
While the staff was just fine, my beef is with the owners- All their menus don’t include pricing so that they have a better chance of gouging you if you’re not paying attention. A single scoop of rice and the driest and most unappetizing chicken of my life cost me 14 real dollars that I had to work for, and wasn’t even enough to fill me. Their ice cream is of a similar price point with having the same drawbacks of being overpriced and unimaginative. Yet another storefront solely dedicated to ripping off tourists and the locals who make the mistake of stepping in their doors.
Natiform — Google review
We got a salmon wrap and the turkey club sandwich, and both were very good! The service was friendly and quick. There was a good selection of sandwiches, drinks, and other items. Overall, it's a little pricey, but the sandwiches are very good and hearty. Definitely recommend this place for their sandwiches.

One of the worst food experiences I’ve ever had. We ordered two breakfast burritos (to go) and carried them in our packs up a fairly strenuous hike. At the summit, my son and I pulled out the burritos and each took a big bite… both burritos were FULL of black mold on the INSIDE! I spat it out but couldn’t rid my mouth of the disgusting taste. We carried them back down & the staff were apologetic… but - *shudder* - would definitely not recommend.

My family and I came here for a quick pick-me-up before our excursion in Ketchikan. They offered a variety of specialty coffees and sweets. I ordered a frappe which was good but not great. I think the girls working were a bit in over their heads as the line was out the door and they forgot a few of our orders.

Stopped by to get a coffee before heading back to the ship. It was okay, the service was a bit slow. The coffee was also pricey but understandable. There’s a table or two outside where you can sit.

The Ketchikan Crab and Grille is a great seafood restaurant that specializes in crab. The menus has a wide variety of seafood options, but the star of the show is their famous clam chowder. The restaurant has a relaxed atmosphere with plenty of windows and natural light, perfect for coastal dining. Specializing in seafood, they also offer king crab, halibut, and crab cakes.

While visiting from Florida on an I took it off, but I still can’t get Alaskan cruise, we came across the Kean crab and Company restaurant. We weren’t really hungry, but we wanted to get a beer but thought why not tryouts are fish and chips. I am so glad we did! It was the best haddock that we have had since we’ve been in Alaska. The The coding was Light and Flaky while the fish was still moist. When it came to the last bite, I thought to myself I don’t want to end. Best fish and chips ever our waitress. Rochelle was professional and friendly. Her knowledge of the menu was spot on. She only made our experience better. All around a home run. so glad we came!!!

55North Bakery & Coffee is a delightful local bakery that stands out for its exceptional culinary experience. Unlike some small bakeries, 55North combines enthusiasm with skill in the kitchen, offering a welcoming and cozy atmosphere. The coffee selection is impressive, and their fresh pastries are considered the best in town. What sets them apart is their commitment to sustainability by using vegetables from Ketchikan Ever Greens for environmentally responsible growing.
This is my new favorite coffee shop in the entire world. I am a member of Caribou and Starbucks and would never visit either of them if I had this one back in Minnesota. The coffee is great but the brownies are out of this world good. The staff is so kind and generous. Really, this was the best brownie I have ever had. It’s worth the stop just for the fresh made baked goods. I spent $30 - $50 just because I had to have a hat. You really cannot put a price on the brownie. Did I mention how good the brownie was.

Was getting off of a cruise to explore and found this coffee spot. I got a breakfast burrito and my bf got a breakfast biscuit. I was surprised on how much flavor the food had. The establishment is small and there isn't much space for a big group. Overall a great experience definitely worth checking out if visiting.

We had an outstanding breakfast at this friendly cafe. All bakery items are freshly made in house. The bacon on my breakfast sandwich was thick and crispy, the scone I had was perfect, and my caffe latte was delicious. The service, though, is what really made our visit, as the owner is friendly and funny. The atmosphere was most welcoming on a blustery morning in Ketchikan.

The owner was welcoming, personable, and a pleasure to meet. We very much enjoyed the coffee and blueberry scone - would recommend to any visitors! Only very minor recommendation would to put a spring on the front door so it closes on its own.

Genuinely one of the best sausage egg & cheese biscuits I've ever had in my life. House-made biscuits AND sausage. The caramel latte I had was excellent as well, with perfect microfoam. I was absolutely blown away by this little cafe and it was 10000% worth the trek in the rain to get to it. The owner was extremely friendly and stopped us to chat for a minute on our way out, and the overall experience was just lovely.

The staff at Island Brew are some of the kindest and warmest people I’ve ever had the pleasure of meeting. Sam, who I believe is the owner, is an absolute peach and is guaranteed to make your day if you run into him. The baked goods are delicious, and you can taste the love that goes into them. The scones in particular are to die for, and the ginger chew is a cookie that’s borderline lifechanging. Not only that, but even their food is amazing- I find myself here for lunch regularly, and I am never disappointed. I’ve been making sure to let all my coworkers know to go in for lunch, too! Great establishment, family friendly atmosphere, and all around nice place to be in. Do yourself a favor and stop in for some coffee and a scone on your way into work, you’ll be glad you did.

Cape Fox Lodge is a charming hotel with a rustic yet elegant ambiance, featuring native artwork and offering comfortable rooms with scenic water views. What sets this lodge apart is its impressive collection of Native Indian artifacts, including totem poles, carvings, tribal masks, clothing, jewelry, and more. The on-site luxury restaurant provides an upscale dining experience and can even accommodate special requests like coordinating surprise desserts for memorable occasions.
The only downside is that the tram to the lodge still isn't fixed. They are really good about offering transportation via the van. We did the trail up and down, which was fine for us to get those steps in. The view is beautiful, the staff is nice. They came to pick us up at the airport, which was great. The in hotel restaurant was very good. And they were nice to let us grab a late dinner very close to closing. The grounds are beautiful. Once you're down all the steps, the lodge is very centrally located.

Stayed twice over last week. The good: Restaurant food excellent (both main restaurant and pizza restaurant). Wait staffs overburdened when crowded and service suffers. Needs management/oversite. Views from hotel are awesome. Laundry facilities nice. Improvements needed: Stayed in room 330 - sink drain slow / mostly plugged. Stayed in room 228 - both sink drain AND shower drain slow / mostly plugged. Room 228 bathroom not completely clean when we were assigned room. One dirty towel, trash on floor. Unusual for such a nice lodge NOT to have complimentary hot coffee available in lobby for the fisherman, adventurers, tourists and travelers that get an early start. Suggest putting out a couple of coffee pots & cups at 5:30 AM. through check-in start time.

We spent two nights at the Cape Fox Lodge prior to heading to Sea Otter Sound. We enjoyed our stay and highly recommend staying here. They have a nice resturant in the main lodge and a new pizza parlor downstairs. The food was good and enjoyed by all. The location of Cape Fox is beautiful and allows for quick access to downtown Ketchican. You can walk down a long stairway that takes you through a lush rainforest and alongside Ketchican creek. But be advised it is very steep in some locations and takes some effort getting back up to the lodge.

Rooms are nice. The hotel is nice. We were attending an event at the center across the parking lot so we asked if we could check out late at 11:45 because we planned to have lunch at the lodge before attending the event at 1. They told us no. I work for a hotel chain and know there is no reason you can’t permit a guest an extra 45 minutes. Seemed very discourteous. So we went to lunch early at 11 in the lodge dining room. Turned out we needed the extra hour because the service was the absolute slowest I’ve ever experienced. The dining room had only a couple of tables full when we arrived so they weren’t busy. It was really bizarre. Food was good not great. Location is not convenient unless you have a car. The cable car was not working so we had to hike up a huge hill to get there.
Brianna — Google review
Nice looking establishment, but run cheaply. Rooms smell faintly of cigarettes, laundry service is coin-op and the machines don’t work. Management was more concerned with keeping the 20$ I spent on laundry than actually addressing the issue of my laundry coming out of the machines dirty. Restaurant had premium pricing for frozen, pre-made menu options. Stairwells all currently in a state of perpetual remodel. Building is too warm at night, and walls between rooms are poorly soundproofed. Service staff are largely absent, and when you do get their attention they seem overwhelmed and overworked. All stinks of bad management, bit of a money grab.

Hotel: great set up and view very clean overall. Loved the history and local artifacts on the 2nd floor. Great staff at the front desk, wait staff was short staffed and food took a little longer to get to us than I would like, but it was amazing. The tram was a nice touch and not something you can experience other places. I appreciated the staff warning us Thursdays was a rough day to be downtown. They also were spot on about food choices in the area.

Best views in the city. Food was fresh. I had the fish and chips. The chips were crispy and tasty. The slaw was very good with a vinaigrette dressing. Of course the halibut was awesome. Good size portions too!

Loved this lodge in Ketchikan! The location is perfect. The views of the town and harbor are amazing. It's very close to downtown which makes it convenient and it's just far enough away to be out of the way when the cruise ship zombies take over the city. The restaurant is pretty hit and miss as far as the service and food go. The shuttle makes getting to and from the airport/ferry and town super easy and convenient and the drivers are very helpful and knowledgeable. The front desk staff was also very nice and helpful. Highly recommend

Embark on the Bering Sea Crab Fishermen's Tour for an unforgettable experience on the Alaskan waters. Lasting about 3 hours, this adventure provides waterproof jackets and complimentary hot beverages as you cruise through the protected Inside Passage. Witness the crew in action as they pull up their catch, and learn firsthand about crab fishing techniques. This tour takes you through Alaska Native waters around Annette Island, allowing for a unique experience outside of state crabbing/fishing seasons.
My wife and I did this tour during our cruise to Alaska and had a wonderful time! We’ve watched Deadliest Catch from the beginning, and being able to go on a boat we watched on TV was a blast. The captain and crew, all veterans of Alaska crab fishing, shared their stories and showed how everything on the boat was used in real life. They’re passionate about what they do and making sure that everyone that comes on board feels like part of their family for a little while. It was a great time, anyone that’s a fan of the show or even a little curious will enjoy.

This was the best experience EVER!! Not only do you have an incredible experience learning about the Bering Sea’s wildlife, you also get the jaw-dropping stories from each crew member of what it’s really like to be out in the Bering Sea for years. The entire crew is so experienced, passionate and phenomenal! This was truly the best excursion that I’ve ever been on! I would recommend it as the top excursion for anyone going to Alaska!

The excursion called the Bering Sea Crab Fisherman‘s Tour on the Aleutian Ballad was the BEST EVER! The crew was very knowledgeable and friendly, and fantastic stories of their life experiences were told. All of the demonstrations, explanations, and touching some of the sea creatures was phenomenal! This is definitely an excursion you do not want to miss!

Great tour even though we had a cold and rainy day. The staff on this boat is genuine and they care about giving you all the details about the history of crabbing and their stories. They provide rain jackets. The downstairs part has heaters above it, but we got to go up to the top which I think had better views all around the boat (but no heaters) This was a highlight of our stop in Ketchikan. The tour was a little over 3 hours, we stopped and saw a whale, then picked up numerous crab traps, small ones, medium and large ones like you see on Deadliest Catch. They have food on board, but we did not get any of it as it was $50/$100 for the on board crab legs (I think 1/2 lb / 1 lb). They let you take as many pictures as you want including holding the hook like you are going to throw it. They have a tank of crabs, shrimp and other things and you get to hold most of it except for the large King crabs. They do bring those around and you can touch them but not hold them, which I understand after seeing the size of their claws. After picking up all the traps, they stop at a spot and throw fish out and some eagles come out of the woods and grab them from the water. This was pretty cool to see. They do bait and haul a few lines hoping to catch fish, but on our tour we did not have any. The largest crab trap has fake crabs in it which was a little weird, but I understand they want to make sure it looks good when its hauled up. Some other traps they hauled up had crabs in them, which probably stay there. One trap had an octopus which was neat. Overall, this was a great tour and I would highly recommend it to anyone who has seen Deadliest Catch or is interested in crabs.

This was an absolute blast. Where do I start? 1. It's on the Aleutian Ballad, Deadliest Catch Season 2. This ship shouldn't be above the water still but it is. Heck of a story in it's own right. 2. Everyone on the crew from the Captain down was just amazingly personable and had fantastic real world stories from their own lives to share. They made for an incredibly welcoming and warm experience. 3. The experience itself. EXTREMELY informative and hands on. All kinds of wildlife to experience up close, down to Eagles and Whales even. Gave me the opportunity for the quintessential bucket list tail shot even (unplanned, but I'll take it!) 4. King Crab ready to eat on the boat. Need I say more? Just do this. It's an experience for everyone with a lot of stories and history behind every turn. We will be returning with our kids in the future for sure.

This was an AMAZING tour. I highly recommend taking advantage of this opportunity. It was entertaining and informative the whole trip. Very interactive and just a great time. This was our first trip to Alaska and this tour honestly was the best ever. The stories, the knowledge, and their experiences just shined through. The love what they do and it shows! Thank you to the captain, the crew, and all those that make this tour what it is. We had a wonderful time!
Tony C — Google review
Best excursion of our Alaska cruise!! We learned so much about the crabs and the boat and the men behind the tour. We braved the weather and enjoyed every second of the tour. We were able to handle crab and starfish. We saw gorgeous eagles as well. On our way back, a whale was spotted and the captain took us closer and waited until we found and spotted the whale again. This was not part of the tour but shows just how extraordinary the captains are and how much they love and respect the water and creatures that live within them. A must do tour for anyone visiting the area!
Judy S — Google review
We had such an amazing time on our Bering Sea excursion from our Alaska cruise, absolutely amazing! The tour is so much more than just a crab fisherman's tour, it's sea stories, stunning natural beauty, humor, education and hands on exploration. We thoroughly enjoyed the shared experiences of the crew as well as the holding and touching of the sea creatures. Watching them toss crab pots, pull shrimp pots, string fishing lines and pull those lines back in was what we expected but what we got was so much more. Add to that a galley serving king crab and this tour just can't be beat!

Located on Water Street, The Asylum is a top choice for beer enthusiasts with the largest selection of locally brewed beers in town. This bar offers indoor spaces as well as an outdoor patio and upper deck for those seeking a view while enjoying their drinks. In addition to specialty cocktails, they also have a takeaway window called Burger Queen that serves 30 different milkshake flavors and 10 burger varieties.
Stopped here for a beer on a rainy day and my cruise excursion got rained out. Very friendly place with many local beers on tap. Right on the water if you aren't in Ward Cove on a Norwegian cruise. The bar across the street was on the water but the staff was cold and indifferent so I went across the street to Asylum. Tried out the Maya's Spruce Tip IPA and Wolfpack pilsner. High ceilings, lots of TVs. I bet it would be a great sports bar but for a cruise crowd that probably doesn't matter. They made a custom drink for the guy next to me. Prices are great. Carlos from Brooklyn (who isn't in witness protection, stop asking!) and Kellie are super nice and friendly. Great place to hang out and get a beer on a rainy day.

Great find!! I got the Asylum beer. It's in the pictures. It's a grapefruit IPA. I know, doesn't sound appealing. But it's a great beer made locally. The bartender gave me half a pint just to see if I liked it. My wife got the 49t state beer. Which was a blonde eagle ale. There was music in the background. We could still have a casual conversation with the music. There is an upstairs with a pool table and foosball. There is a covered patio upstairs with a view of the port. For two beers it was $7. Best deal you'll find anywhere.

If you’re looking for a fun, laid-back spot in Ketchikan, you have to stop at The Asylum. Carlos, the owner, is one of the friendliest people you’ll ever meet—he immediately made us feel welcome like old friends. The vibe is quirky, comfortable, and exactly what you want after a day of exploring. Their signature duck fart shots were not only a must-try but surprisingly delicious (don’t let the name fool you 😉). We loved them so much they became a highlight of our trip. And for a perfect food pairing? A few steps over to Burger Queen—hands down one of the best burgers I’ve had in ages (order at the bar). Juicy, flavorful, and everything you want in a no-frills burger joint. Between Carlos’ hospitality, the great drinks, and the unbeatable burgers, this stop was an absolute win. If you’re in Ketchikan, don’t miss it!

Have to be honest, in 36+ years in the Air Force I've traveled the world and perused many bars- to include Anchorage. I felt VERY comfortable in this place, Carlos is the bomb! Great selection of bar T-Shirts as well- added one to my collection.

Great service and selection of local beer on draft. The price for a draft beer was great, $3.50, per glass. Nice little place close to the dock. Wife said the onion rings were good. Had great service from the bartender Kellie, she was awesome. Also talked to Carlos and he was funny and energetic. Great small little place, a must go.

Seafood restaurant
Annabelle's Famous Keg and Chowder House is a historic restaurant located in a wood-dominated space within a historic hotel. The menu offers seafood, steaks, burgers, and the best salmon chowder in Alaska. The restaurant has a vintage feel dating back to the 1920s but also features modern favorites. It is conveniently situated near the cruise ship docks, making it an ideal stop for those wanting comfort food after exploring the area.
We stopped in here for lunch in June 2025. We had the king crab leg and the three chowders. I struggled getting the three chowders down. It is a lot of food and cream. They were tasty. The salmon chowder was my favorite. The king crab leg was nice and meaty. Not too busy when we were there. Service was good.
Josh H — Google review
It’s a nice restaurant in Ketchikan. We heard about the famous chowder so we had to try it. Overall, the restaurant atmosphere was very pleasant and friendly. Service was good and the environment was clean. We tried three different chowder so we can decide if it is worth the trip and time. But, I have to be honest and say that we had better chowder in Sarasota, Florida and San Francisco.
Sgt. S — Google review
Underwhelming I had higher expectations after seeing the menu. it did not wow me. That being said, it was good and the atmosphere was really relaxing. I paid 48 bucks for a very small piece of halibut in the land of seafood. The rice was lumpy and rubbery. The “famous chowder” was just ordinary. I don’t usually share negative information. However, this being an international destination I feel obligated to inform. It was at least better than the fried like hell restaurants. Cheers

My wife and I chose to stop at Annabelle’s for lunch and I’m very happy we did. From the time we entered the restaurant it was extremely warm and inviting. The atmosphere felt like a home style restaurant where everyone is welcome. Our server Camil was absolutely amazing and helpful. Camil was all to happy to make recommendations and chat with us for a few minutes. My wife and I shared Crab Legs, Clam Chowder, Fish and Chips, and Cesar salad. The food was delicious and we both loved everything. I cannot recommend this restaurant enough and it’s a perfect place to eat.
Jacob — Google review
I wish I could grade Annabelle's higher as we had 5 days of cruise buffet food and we needed a real food boost. It was not a great sign that there was not a line at peak dinner hours. The location is prime as it's a few steps across the street from the cruise port. We chose the right side after walking in, which was their parlor dining room. We loved the look and feel of the room but no one else was there, no customers. It was very pricey and not much value. The halibut sandwich was not cooked through and had very minimal taste. The coconut shrimp appetizer was good, but became my dinner as there were limited options. It can be perceived as a "tourist trap", but because of the lack of customers apparently the word got out. Truly, this is a place that has true potential and are a few decisions from possibly turning things around.

I chose to go here for my Alaskan Crab Legs . It was a bit cheaper than other places . I'm so glad I did. I got way more for my money. Don't be afraid to get the full pound instead of the one leg. For 97 dollars I had so much crab and also the best onion rings I've ever eaten. I was so full that I gave my chowder to my husband to eat. The beer flight is also a great deal. I highly recommend this restaurant. My friend got the crab cake sandwich and it came with two crab cakes in the sandwich. She said it was Soo good.

We needed to try salmon on our final port call in Alaska! We were in a bit of a rush to when we needed to get our shuttle back to the boat so we stopped here for salmon chowder. Two of us split the three-chowder sampler which was a cup of clam chowder, smoked salmon chowder and seafood chowder served with a side of rolls. We both loved the salmon and seafood chowder. The rolls were eh. The other in our party ordered salmon chowder in a sourdough bread bowl. That bread was so much better. We were very content and so glad we stopped. We sat at the bar, shout out to our server, im sorry we forgot your name but you were great!
Nicole F — Google review
Annabelle’s has some of the more reasonable prices we saw for crab on our visit to Alaska. We ended up ordering a pound to share (it was delicious) and I had the crab cake sandwich which was super good as well, would recommend. My only complaint is they keep it REALLY WARM in there.

Visitor center
The Ketchikan Visitors Bureau, conveniently located near cruise ship berth 2, offers a comprehensive area guide with maps, tour operator contacts, and local attraction information. This free walking tour map is available at the bureau and various locations around town. Despite its high annual rainfall of 12 & 1/2 feet, Ketchikan boasts numerous shops and attractions to suit every taste.
The visitors centre just right next to the port where the cruise ship docked. It was a rainy day when we reached this first city in Alaska. The staffs are very polite and informative. We arrived during the USA Memorial Day, we are quite lost if we were able to visit all the places as planned. Staffs are patient informing us where can we go in the town. And kind enough to tell us about the free shuttle bus service, it’s really saved us a lot in such a rainy day. You may also collect the walking tour map to have a good guide in the city. Outside, there is The Rock sculpture you should take a photo, The Rock tells the story of how Alaska's First City came to be, each sculpture has its own representation of the city, interesting! You can also see the Ketchikan sign right across the street. Please do not jaywalk but follow the crossing guard instructions!

I’m leaving this one star review because the visitor center and city of Ketchikan lets scam companies like sourdough tours operate and scam ppl out of their money. This is the only city in AK that has let blatant scam tours run out in the open. I know you have a love hate (mostly hate) relationships with tourist but allowing the first ppl off the port be scammed is just sad. Stop allowing scam companies to operate if you want to keep tourist money coming in. If you see this sign stay away they will scam you and shame to all companies in town selling these scams.

The first thing you find when you get out of the ship. Good information, friendly staff, clean and neat, restrooms available, maps and more. It is super cool that most of the ports of call in Alaska give you direct access to the town and some attractions and things to do (our ports of call where Ketchikan, Sitka, Juneau, and Icy Strait Point)

Cruising down the beautiful Inner Passage to our last stop in Alaska was this beautiful city of Ketchikan. Boy, do they get water soaked, their average annual rainfall is 12 & 1/2 Feet, pretty amazing and yes it rained while we were there. Lots of shops and sights that will entertain and sate everyone's tastes. It was hard to say goodbye as we pulled away from pier on our trip down the coast. Thanks ALASKA, what a beautiful State, and wonderful people wherever you go. We enjoyed and so will you.

Burger Queen is a cozy eatery located in the charming town of Ketchikan Census, offering a delightful array of gourmet burgers and classic American fare. Despite being situated in a seafood-centric area, this spot has gained popularity for its delectable burgers, including the Hawaiian burger featuring a tantalizing combination of ham and pineapple. The joint also serves up fresh fish burgers made from locally caught seafood.
I always follow my nose, and my nose brought me here while visiting Ketchikan. It's always some tiny hole-in-the-wall, and they didn't disappoint! My only regret was that I didn't purchase a second burger for later.

Great Halibut and chips. Fast delivery across the street to the Arctic Bar. Picture is half eaten! Firm, hot fish and great onion rings

If it hasn’t been voted Best Burger in Ketchikan then I will gladly give it that designation. We were having drinks across the street and ordered a burger. They brought it to us at the bar which was amazing service. The burger was really good and prepared very well. We had one order of fries and it was enough for two people. Most bars don’t serve food so places like Burger Queen in Ketchikan are always an amazing option for quality and service.

Burgers & onion rings were very good. We’d had an average lunch at another restaurant in town. We had heard this was the best burger in town! They were not wrong. When visiting Ketchikan, make sure to stop by the iconic Arctic Bar, a waterfront establishment with a rich history and unique character. This legendary spot has been serving locals and visitors for over 80 years, embracing its status as a no-frills dive bar while paying homage to Ketchikan's heritage through its decor and memorabilia.
The Arctic Bar is one of the bests spot in Ketchikan… You just can’t miss it! It’s one of the oldest bars in town, with an awesome view right by the port. The vibe is great, the music is on point, and the staff is super friendly. And Paula, the owner, is simply amazing! Huge thanks for your kindness and hospitality, you make this place extra special! I love you all, coming back to visit you soon! ❤️

Came here 7 years when I worked on ships. And immediately came back. Nothing has changed and it's great. Fun music in the background. Lovely bartenders and funny locals. Always have a couple of beers and bloody Mary's on special too. $5 beers! You can order food from across the way and they bring it in for you. They don't mind you eating it there. They even have their menus in there to help you out. Oh and if you are easily offended don't go here 🤣

Fun! Dogs wrestling on the floor, Salmon and Duck fart shots and Jessica keeping your drinks to the rim. If you want the atmosphere of a party. Semi-dive bar where everyone encourages shots.......this is your place. I missed the songs that are popular, but I heard their a tradition. If I get the blessing of time to return, this will be a stop at the top of my list.

Friendly place to have a couple of pints, shoot some pool or people watch from the outside area. Probably gets busy when there are cruise ships in port. It’s one of the many bars we hit when we are in town for a day before we go out to Thorne Bay fishing. They don’t have food but you can order from Burger Queen and they will deliver. The burgers are good. Always a great stop if just bar hoping after getting off the cruise ship.

This place is waterfront at the cruise port and has a huge sign for $3.50 beers. Clearly, it’s a must visit in Ketchikan. The bear theme carries through the bar all the way to their Happy Bears brew. It’s a slightly hoppy lager, and I had no complaints. Server was super nice and the deck overlooks the ships. Awesome spot.

If you’re in Ketchikan, a visit to the Arctic Bar is an absolute must! The atmosphere is fantastic – laid-back, welcoming, and full of local charm. They have a great selection of beers and IPAs, perfect for anyone who enjoys quality brews. It’s the kind of place where you can truly sit back, relax, and enjoy your drink. The staff are incredibly friendly and attentive, which really adds to the experience. Whether you’re just passing through or spending time in town, the Arctic Bar is a great place to unwind and soak in the local vibe. Highly recommended!

This is an awesome little dive bar right next to the cruise port with cheap drinks and some great history. They have a fair amount of seating both inside and outside and pool tables as well. Walking distance from cruise terminal and great for a quick bite and coffee to get you charged for the day. Coffee and breakfast sandwich was awesome the banana bread was cold as it was refrigerated. Not the best texture. But everything else was great including the staff.

This place was just okay. None of the three people in my party liked the drinks they made for us. We ordered a latte, a hot chai, and a smoothie--none of which tasted very good. They just weren't made well and way too sweet! However, my friends said they liked their breakfasts, (a bagel sandwich & bowl of oatmeal), but I thought my pastry was nothing special. Plus, I felt like everything was extremely expensive for what we got. We ordered a breakfast sandwich, a bowl of oatmeal, a simple pastry, and three drinks and we spent over $50! It would've been worth it if the drinks had tasted better or even filled up all the way. Everything came out 3/4 of the way full. But the atmosphere was cute with lots of mermaid decor all over. Great views of the fjord and docks.

Nice little coffee shop very near the waterfront in Ketchikan. Decent roast on the beans, with good body & a smooth finish. Alternative milks available if lattes are your thing. Creative pastries, and they were advertising gyros for lunch.

Love their breakfast options and coffee! My husband and I try to go there every Saturday! He loves their breakfast sandwiches with their homemade English Muffin Bread. I love their Breakfast Scramble with salsa and sour cream! Our favorite weekly treat!

Friendly workers, lots of pastry choices. Unfortunately the coffee wasn’t very good, average at best. I tried a hot latte. Possibly if you enjoy a sweet coffee drink, you might find something you’d enjoy! But a good place to sit and catch up with a friend or a book. Some pretty cute mermaid themed gifts available here as well. WiFi however is $5. Major bummer for people traveling on a cruise ship, looking to connect with the rest of the world while in port.

Sourdough Cocktail Bar is a cozy neighborhood bar located near the dockside, adorned with shipwreck photos that exude an Alaskan vibe. The bar offers various entertainment options such as shuffleboard, pool, darts, Photo Hunt, and a jukebox. It's conveniently attached to a liquor store and attracts a diverse crowd including cruise ship passengers. The staff is known for their excellent service and the bar has a good selection of drinks at reasonable prices.
Great bar with great service. They also have a liquor store attached up front with some great Sourdough Cocktail Bar merchandise. They have a couple of pool table, pulltabs and plenty of seating. When the cruise ships are in it can get a little crowded but doesn’t last long as most are just passing through. I come up here every year for a fishing trip and always spend a little time hanging out here. Staff is great and very friendly. Prices are decent considering it is a tourist town during the summer. If you are in town you have to stop in and ask why they are called Sourdoughs.

This place was a great piece of history. If you are in the area what you most likely will be.If you are taking a cruise ship, it is definitely a cool sight to see. The type of artwork that they use is like none other, and the stories that they depict are truly bizarre. It is a must see for any history enthusiast.

Awesome experience with a well knowledged tour guide who has lived in the area for around 20 years. Clark's Custom Island Tours on Viator.com was fantastic, this was just one of the many stops we made today on the tour. Very cool to learn about how everything was made and what the totem poles actually mean, cause they are really not meant to just be decorative.

Excellent selection very close to multiple cruise ship docks. Large aisles and very friendly staff. Look for the coupon books in the way into the store to find additional savings on some things. See a giant polar bear that has its picture taken with John Wayne! We really didn’t need to look any further for common tourist items.

A huge souvenir shop near the port. Our last port of call during our Alaska cruise in May 2024. There is a huge bear display when you enter. Various range of souvenirs both local and overseas. They are key chains, magnets; Alaska socks, t-shirt, jackets, caps. Also soft toys, Alaska jewellery, smoke salmon, salmon spreed, salmon jerky. Sweets chocolate and many others stuffs. I bought some smoke salmon home as gifts. However, I subsequently realised it was cheaper on the ship. Haha😅

Great selection of items at good prices. The gentleman behind the counter became very annoyed, almost hostile, when we used three Visa prepaid gift cards and one credit card to cover our transaction. The POS system worked quickly and we had our payments ready, yet he was very annoyed. He shoved the receipt at me, I said thank you, and he loudly said to the next customer, “I’m sorry about them.” I was incredibly embarrassed and shocked at the mistreatment in such a friendly and beautiful place. Again, great selection and I recommend this store, unfortunately this employee was very rude to us and I hope this feedback will be reviewed by his manager. I did not feel comfortable asking him to speak to a manager because of his temperament.

Ketchikan's Finest Fishing Charters, led by experienced guide Lukas, offers an unforgettable fishing experience in the stunning surroundings of Ketchikan. Guests have reported close encounters with whales, sea lions, and eagles while reeling in impressive catches like lingcod, silvers, halibut, and rockfish. Families with children as young as 7 have enjoyed half-day trips learning to troll for salmon and bottom fish for various species.
Captain Lukas was awesome. Our family of 6 had a great time and caught 3 Halibut, 2 Cod, a ghost shark, numerous Rock Fish and a Salmon. Captain Lucas took our catch to the processor and it was filleted, vacuum sealed, flash froze and over night shipped to us on day of our choice. This definitely was a highlight of our Alaskan adventure.

Tony was AMAZING!! By far the best fishing charter we have ever been on. He really knows his stuff, made it comfortable and exciting for all of us, and let us take the reins. We had fish on every 10 minutes, and he helped up set up what we needed to have it all shipped home. Will definitely be finding him next time we’re here!

This was the greatest fishing charter. The boat was comfortable and Captain Tony was absolutely great. Tony set us up on a nice school of fish 🐟. We were catching cod, rock fish and of course very nice halibut. We tore the fish up on August 28, 2025. Tony was so much fun and he truly made the entire trip for the 4 of us. I would highly recommend that this would be your very 1st choice for your fishing experience. Thank you. Lori and Rowdy Stillwell from Michigan and Stevie and Ricky from Baton Rouge Louisiana.

Captain Tony is the perfect fishing guide! He is on time, professional, knowledgeable, and fun. He asked us what our goals were for the day and boy did he deliver! He worked incredibly hard keeping lines in the water and he had a knack for finding the fish we wanted to catch. Our group, which was made up of people from age 17 to 80, all caught fish and we all had huge smiles on our faces the entire time! Thank you Captain Tony for the amazing Alaska fishing experience.

Ketchikan's Finest Fishing Charters lives up to its name. My fishing buddy and I booked 4 - 6 hour days fishing. We weren't disappointed. Captain Grayson worked his butt off putting us on fish all 4 days. We caught Silvers (Coho), pinks, halibut, rock and cod fish. We even caught a real nice King and one each of our yellow eye fish not to mention a slab of a halibut. We took home 200 lbs of fish. All the equipment from the boat to the gear were in top notch condition. I have made several salmon (deep sea) trips on my own boat and /or with charters and guides and I can honestly say that Capt. Grayson tops them all. THANK YOU CAPT GRAYSON!! His friendliness, experience, knowledge, and expertise are second to none. He knows how to fish and where the fish are. If you don't catch fish with Captain Grayson then they ain't biting. Quit searching for a charter. I have found it for you.

THIS WAS THE BEST TRIP EVER! We did the 5-Hour Combo tour and all 3 of us, ages ranging from 23-80 years old were not only able to each reel in a Halibut, but caught plenty of Salmon too! Captain Grayson was the absolute best, and we would come back and do it again! He knew the vibe of the group, and adapted our experience to it…. Even saw we could handle some bites of a beating salmon heart😅 A unforgettable fishing trip memory to last us forever, and plenty of fish to bring home and enjoy:)

Hands-down the highlight of our Alaska cruise! We booked a guided fishing trip with Ketchikan’s Finest Fishing Charters and it absolutely lived up to the name. Our guide (and owner), Luke, was outstanding from start to finish—and he brought along his awesome little dog Rudy, which was a hit with the whole family. After a short 15-minute boat ride, we were on the fish almost immediately. Luke clearly knows the area—he adjusted once throughout the morning and kept us on the bite the entire trip. Despite being on a shortened schedule due to our cruise, we still caught 9 beautiful salmon! We were a little nervous going in since some of us tend to get seasick, but the water was calm and protected, and the boat stayed relatively close. No issues at all—and we even had a surprise whale sighting (multiple times!) which made it extra special. Luke was patient, helpful, and great with our kids (we have an 11-year-old daughter and 14-year-old son). He made the whole experience easy and enjoyable for the entire family. Ketchikan ended up being our favorite stop on the cruise, and this fishing trip was the biggest reason why. Can’t recommend Luke and his crew enough. We’ll definitely be back!

Booked with Ketchikans Finest for a 5 hour trip during our recent cruise. As soon as we disembarked our ship, Captain Jake was waiting for us with a smile on. He worked hard to put us on the fish and our party of 6 caught a bounty of rockfish, Pacific cod and even a couple of different sharks! Jake's a great guide and a genuinely good dude! Book with confidence...these guys are great!

Located in the heart of Ketchikan's Main Street, Salmon Market is a popular spot for both locals and tourists seeking authentic Alaskan food products. The market offers a wide variety of items such as salmon jerky, gourmet canned smoked salmon, fillets, caviar, reindeer sausage, spreads, and an assortment of Alaskan jams and jellies. Visitors can rely on the helpful staff to assist them in finding the perfect treat or souvenir.
So glad we stepping into this little market area. There were a handful of small shops. It was a cute spot that offered a variety of salmon items. They allowed us to taste several products. They were knowledgeable about the products and very friendly. Reindeer sausage, And other jerky stuff. But they also offer fresh made sandwiches- delicious! Fresh salmon. And seating area to enjoy your food items.

We got here after open to closed gates. The owner came out to let us know they had staffing issues but would take care of us in a few minutes. Since the reviews were so good, we decided it was worth waiting…and it was! We shared the salmon lox bagel (which was delicious), then tasted our way through the gift shop, where the hospitality was amazing. If you go on a cruise or are in the area, I would highly recommend stopping here.

I’m so upset. My boyfriend and I visited while on a stop for a cruise and brought over $100 worth of product. I am home and opened the packaging on the sockeye and coho smoked salmon and the salmon is spoiled and has worms. I’m so disgusted I do not trust or want to open any of the other products we bought from them. I want a refund but can’t reach a live person! *** update 5/20/2024. I just received an update that the company left a review stating that it was an industry attack in regard to comment I left 2 years ago. This is NOT a fake review.

A nice place, great lay out but be prepared to pay a pretty penny for your Coho and trout. It ain't cheap. You can get a can of Coho free if you buy 3 cans at a price of $28 each. I'll stick to my Star Kissed Tuna

Awesome products at a competitive price. Do not believe the negative reviews here. I know Jacob and Gloria personally; and they are an incredible family. Only place I feel comfortable buying smoked fish in Ketchikan. An incredible establishment for alaskan seafood.

Highly recommend coming here when in Ketchikan. Solid everything bagel with exceptional Alaskan smoked belly lox. The addition of lemon EVOO to the standard cream cheese, onion, capers, and arugula livened it up even more. Very friendly service too.

Found this great little shop on a cruise stop to Ketchikan. Stopped in to have a couple of bagels and loved it so much I had to order something when we got home. My son was looking for a souvenir from Alaska and what better option than the beautiful wooden boxes with smoked salmon inside. I ordered one for myself as well. They arrived very quickly and we got two different patterns on the boxes which are gorgeous! We will definitely be ordering again.

I got a lox bagel from here and it was one of the best I’ve ever had. The salmon was super fresh!! The inside of the establishment looked like it’s scene better days, but don’t let that deter you! Food was great! The staff inside was super helpful and kind. We went while in port from our cruise ship. It was maybe a 5 minute walk from the main cruise port.

Hiking Trails
Rainbird Hiking Trail is a perfect choice for those looking to experience a piece of Southeast Alaska's rainforest without committing to a full-day hike. Located just 20 minutes from downtown Ketchikan, it offers convenient access and stunning views of the city, Tongass Narrows, and neighboring areas. The trail is well-maintained and easy to follow, making it suitable for visitors with limited time.
This trail takes you through a beautiful, lush forest with large trees, babbling streams, and good views of Pennock Island, parts of Ketchikan, and surrounding mountains. Most trail apps mark this as an easy trail although I’d say it’s more moderate . Be prepared for steep hills, tree roots, slippery rocks in some areas - sturdy footwear and hiking poles are recommended. I didn’t use hiking poles and got around fine but I could see how they could be useful. The best lookout point is closer to the South access of the trail - there’s a clearing with a short wood fence right next to the trail. You can walk to the South access of the trail from the cruise port, or the bus route also goes by both the North and South access points of the trail. We had a rental car so started at the UAS campus access point where you can park within the University’s parking lot.

I hiked it from north to south on 6/16/24. The trail tread was in great condition. Someone has done tremendous work (perhaps 20% of the entire length) creating stone steps and tread hardening. Trail difficulty was, mmm, easy to moderate. There's a 150' - 200' elevation gain at the northern start until you get up to 'trail level'. Then it's just minor ups and downs (10' - 50') as you move along. Same at the southern end. There was some recent brush removal maintenance done. I saw none of whatever others experienced in having the trail be hard to follow. I found the trail very easy to follow the entire length. It was dry the day I went but I was glad I brought my trekking poles. I can easily imagine some of the step rocks being slippery if wet. Also, there were some big step ups and step downs. Nice little trail.

I've hiked a lot of beautiful trails from Big Sur (California) to Colorado and other parts of Alaska and I'd put this one near the top of my list. What is so neat about this trail is how accessible it is. We took a free bus to the mall and then just walked up the hill to the trailhead. Despite it being close to the road, it feels much more excluded than you'd think.
Garrett M — Google review
There are some points that the trail track is not so obvious. I thought I was on track but actually walked away the trail and down as much 50 yards where I could not go any further and had to climb back up, which was wet and tough. That took half an hour and had to be quite careful because there are quite some rotten trunks that would not support an adult’s weight. Overall is quite a pleasant hike with extremely fresh forest smell and a little bit of view down at the town and ships.
Stanley S — Google review
Totally enjoyed this hike. Went with a first time hiker and he was able to easily do it. There are a lot of rocks so make sure of your footing. There were areas where you could actually see the cruise port. We took a taxi to the trail head which worked out perfectly. The weather was perfect. Would recommend to anyone doing a cruise to the town.
St K — Google review
Gorgeous hiking trail through the evergreen rainforest. Honestly, the toughest part is reaching it on foot from the town. Waterproof hiking boots and solid gear to put against ample local rain are highly recommended. Many a person comes down with a mud-caked posterior. A note: Regard the map of the trail. One half is maintained and the other half is not. If nervous about the wilder side of the trail, then there is a clear path that allows you to exit to the roadway. The sidewalk runs to town.
Johnathan W — Google review
Sweet and simple trail close to downtown and cruise dock. 10 min taxi ride from cruise dock, about 12 usd. If you're short on time best way to get a glimpse of the majestic tongas national park. The shades of green and size of trees you see will be nothing short of spectacular. There are 3 points of entry - we got in from parking and out from South Side and took us about 40mins (including picture time)

Ketchikan International Airport (KTN)

4.5
(277)
Airport
Ketchikan International Airport is a small but efficient airport serving southeastern Alaska. It offers regular ferry service to Ketchikan, making it accessible from the downtown area, which houses the main commercial district and various attractions like historic Creek Street. The airport itself features interesting sculptures and historical items, as well as a snack bar and a small pub. Despite its size, the airport runs smoothly most of the time and provides fast and efficient security checks.
Very cool airport and insanely easy to navigate. With only two gates, the terminal was super small but still had a nice gift shop, watering hole, and shop that serves food and drinks. One of the coolest parts is the airport is on island West of Ketchikan and you have to take a ferry to get over to town. We rented a car from Budget and while I was getting our keys, we were able to buy passes for ourselves and the car (plus passes to return). The ferry ride only takes a few minutes but it was such a fun experience. Coming back to check in for our flight was equally a breeze. There was nobody else on the ferry and when we went inside, we were the only ones going through the check-in process and security. It was a late flight so the gift shop was closed, but we could still get food and drinks.
Matt P — Google review
View from a passing Cruise ship. So why such a large airport for such a small looking town. Because you cant leave Ketchikan by road. It is on an isolated island. I've never flown into Ketchikan, but I love the location and presence. It has an attached floatplane dock and ferry terminal (for hopping across from Ketchikan).
Graham T — Google review
Cute little airport. You have to take a ferry to get across the water into town. The shortest ride you can imagine. Fun to watch what happens all around as you’re on your way across.
Magdalena R — Google review
A very unique airport that involves taking a ferry to access. Have flown out of KTN on Delta Airlines and Alaska Airlines, as well as worked with private jets. A few noteworthy things at this airport - one is that the restaurant can serve food through a window in the wall to customers outside of security. A float plane dock gives access to boaters as well which is a fun thing, being able to boat to an international airport. Free luggage carts and a great little restaurant. Friendly staff.
Dave K — Google review
Great airport small but professional. You will need to take the ferry across from the city but it runs every 30 minutes or so and a whole $6. Once inside security is fast and efficient. Once inside there is a small pub, a small restaurant and a small store( get all your souvenirs before you come). Easy, efficient and fast.
David H — Google review
Ok what am I missing? I have nothing against this cute little airport which services 10 Alaska airlines flights a day. Clean, friendly, 5 stars. Here’s what I don’t get; the airport is on its own island- literally nothing here ( source: Sarah Palin’s bridge to nowhere) but the airport- so you need to take a ferry to/ from town. Which is fair, build where you have the land. But the ferry only runs twice an hour & costs $6 each way. You pay on the airport side no matter which direction you’re going and there is ONE person taking payment- for people and cars going in both directions. So you wait for the ferry, the ride itself takes like 4 minutes, but then you stand in line for 20 minutes to pay. Meanwhile there are at least 6 machines to pay for parking. Why aren’t there FERRY ticket machines and one guy taking tickets? Or even better, why isn’t the $12 round trip built into your fare? And finally, why am I the only one who thinks this is weird?
Amy — Google review
Can I just say how AMAZING Denise at Alaska Airlines is?! Truly caring professionals in the hospitality industry like Denise are rare and few and far between. Trust me, I travel for work, and also worked in the hospitality industry for years. She listened to our concerns, addressed all of our needs and went above and beyond to make sure we were taken care of. She is a gem and we will forever be loyal to Alaskan Airlines due to her above and beyond services.
Jordanne S — Google review
Little airport and TSA is a bit prickly, but I have been through the airport at least 10 times and never had an issue. There are some cool sculptures and historical items to check out and the snack bar is not exceptionally large, but the food is good. Worst part about the airport... you have to take a ferry to get in or out from the terminals so plan your trip accordingly.

Nestled in the lively town of Ketchikan census, Pioneer Cafe is a charming culinary find that offers a nostalgic dining experience. The retro-themed eatery takes you back to the 50s and 60s with its vintage ambiance. Renowned for its delectable menu, this diner serves up an array of tantalizing dishes that are sure to satisfy your cravings.
This is a cute mom & pop style diner with Rte 66 and 50’s American themes. Also, conveniently located a hop over from creek street. They offer traditional American breakfast for a decent price. Both my wife and I ordered the 2x French toast breakfast. It was great. Coffee was good and refills were timely. I did find it odd, however, that on the menus half-sized portions are available but only a dollar cheaper than the full-sized option. Seems strange to offer it in the first place. The customer service was good. Expect about $40-45 for two people.

This restaurant serves large portions of all American cooking at reasonable prices. I enjoyed the open faced turkey sandwich very much while my wife enjoyed the grilled cheese sandwich with chicken noodle soup. The restaurant is done up.kn the theme of a 50s diner with a lot of Route 66 paraphernalia. The staff is efficient and the food comes hot and quick with very large portions. If you're in the are I suggest you drop by.

Favorite of locals, this place will not let you leave hungry! The portion sizes are enough to share! We came for breakfast and it was delicious! Food is served up quickly, and the coffee is fantastic! The reindeer sausages were great, and the flapjacks were bigger than a Frisbee!

Cute little spot with retro vibes. Service was HORRIBLE. Our server never smiled and acted like she wanted to be anywhere but there. We had empty glasses for the majority of our meal. The food was mediocre. The halibut and fries was just okay. The fish was tough and not like any other halibut we ate in alaska... guessing it wasn't fresh. The reindeer hotdogs were just like any polish sausage... disappointed that they weren't somehow different. I don't think I'd choose to eat there again.

Good service, was reasonably fast, as well as reasonably priced for the quantity of food. I’d rate the chicken fried at 8 out of 10. The toast was perfect. And the hash-browns a good 7 out of 10. Overall, I would come back. As for the lemon pie, very nice as well with some coffee.

Supposedly "Thai green curry beef". Thick and stodgy chicken gravy with extra oil and chili powder. Mostly bamboo shoots. Sweet pineapple bits were totally out of place. Weird chemically softened beef. $21. No resemblance to any green curry I've ever had.

As a former crew member and a person who's originally from China, I am warning everyone -DON'T GO!! This place is a total RIP OFF. We ordered some soup( tastes bad) and asked for a small bowl of rice, the server brought it without telling us the price. Later we got charged 8 dollars for that bowl of rice. I even tried to confirm when I saw the bill. I said "just to confirm the rice is 8 dollars?" The Lady was SUPER grumpy, she just said "yes" with a bad looking on her face. I understand Alaska is away from the mainland US and everything is shipped here. However we are still in the States, a behavior like this is not acceptable - not telling the customer the price of food ahead and charge ppl ridiculous price, also with bad attitude and no customer service at all. I don't often leave a bad review but this one is absolutely bad! I used to come here when I was a crew 10 years ago, don't know if things have changed but Ha. They are not practicing a good business behavior.

Revising my review because New China has become my go-to for Chinese food, for good reason. I typically order delivery at work about once every week or two. They're reliable, timely, and friendly (shout-out to the regular delivery person, I think her name is Shannon?), and the price is reasonable. My personal favourite -- the Singapore Mai Fun -- has some good heat to it, even at "mild," and it's reliably about two meals' worth of food for me. Add on some steamed potstickers and something for the next day, and I'm set. When I feel like shaking up my routine, the Foo Young is great. Comes with what feels like an illegal amount of gravy (LOL, don't stop doing that, it's great; I put the rest on the rice that comes with it).

Ketchikan's Gold Pan Pizza is a pizzeria in Ketchikan that specializes in deep-dish pizza. The pizzas are delicious, and the staff is friendly. You can order delivery or pickup, or just stop by for a slice. There's also a soda fountain with Jones soda!
The minute you walk the place smells like a real pizza place. My daughter has tried every pizza they have offered and says they are amazing. The wood floor and tables give the place a rustic feel. The jukebox adds a fun atmosphere. I've never seen a soda fountain that serves Jones soda before. $3 isn't a bad price for free refills. You can call ahead for pick up.

Ordered a pizza and was told it would be 40 minutes. When I arrived to pick it up, the two employees that were there claimed a third employee had just “forgotten” to make it. There were no other customers in the restaurant, they did not appear busy.
Stephanie H — Google review
I don’t think I’ve ever had worse service. We work on a fishing boat and we were in town for the night so we walked in at 6:30pm to order 4 pizzas ($100) and was told they would be closing soon (hours posted 8pm) The guy working seemed irritated that we came in at all. We put in our order and were told it could be 40 minuets or more….okay sure then he said “I hope I don’t mess them up” that was not reassuring at all. During this time the phone was ringing and he sighed loudly and said “I’m about to just unplug the phone” Before he could walk back to the kitchen another customer walked in and tried to order a pizza to which he told her that “They close in like an hour and there were 4 pizzas ahead of her so she should just come back tomorrow” He then offered to sell her a few slices from the hot case but then added that he “wouldn’t recommend it” as they were old pizzas. At the point I’d heard enough and asked to cancel the order. That was the happiest he was the whole interaction. The whole encounter was just bizarre. Either the management is unaware or this business is run by people who do not care about repeat business…or any business at all. We left and went to Eagles Nest and had a wonderful meal with excellent service. We are here every summer and I guarantee I will never be back: I noticed the cameras so if the business owner wants to use this as an opportunity for additional training they can see this horrendous interaction for themselves but honestly get the feeling they don’t care.

Just came from there. Both my pizzas are raw in the middle. The turned off the open sign while we waited and it was before 8 pm, 3 of their friends came in after and they kept going talk to them. $70 for 2 raw pizzas and garlic bread, not returning anytime soon.

The place is filthy, the owner refuses to put money into the place to fix the soda machine, the cooler in the back and one of the ovens. Don’t eat here or waste your money here. Todd Henke if you’re reading this I will say. You need to put money into the place if you do you’d make good money, but since you don’t want to. You’ll lose more employees.

Friendly staff, Jukebox went nuts for a moment while we were there. 😆 Come for the pizza but stay for the garlic bread! A Jones soda soda fountain! NICE!

Jeremiah's Pub is a popular bar located in the The Landing Hotel in Ketchikan, AK. With plenty of delicious food options and friendly staff, it's easy to spend a fun evening here with friends. The view from the premises is also quite lovely, making this a great place to relax and unwind after a long day.
I ate at the Portside Pub on their opening night. I immediately loved the vibe of the entire restaurant! The theme was so fun and I loved all the details. The food was stunning when it came out and I was relieved that it also tasted AMAZING! The portions for the price is perfect! I left very full and very happy! There was one small hiccup with my side being the wrong thing but the staff took care of it immediately. All staff were so friendly and I CAN’T wait to eat here again

I had a Cobb salad and it hit the spot. The waiter was friendly but wasn't really about providing good service. I sat for a long time before getting a drink refill and even longer to get my check. Just not very attentive.

They need to pay more attention to there Costumers, we and several others waited At the door for someone to seat us, Had several waitresses walk by and not even acknowledge us, one did say she would be right with us, which never happened .Once seated it took some time to get waited on We noticed several costumers getting up and going to the bar to get their own beverages It took sometime to get our bill payed once we had eaten. We realize they have been open for only 7 days. We hope they realize that reasonable customer service is essential. We really liked the decor and the new look. Up date 08 04 2025!!! No waiting for a table, service was spot on and food was good , Jessica was great !! One of the best waitresses we have experienced in a long time . Thank you.

Literally 30 feet from my hotel room on the 2nd floor so ate here frequently. Overall great atmosphere for a local bar feeling. Staff was mostly great, best was 'Cyra' (sp?). Some of the food was fantastic, including the hummus and chicken wings. But the chowder, and the Greek wrap were bland. Three nights in a row didn't have the rubber, which is a bit weird to advertise something you don't have.

The Portside Pub & Grill was excellent. A group of friends went there after a day of deep sea fishing. The food was great, the location was very convenient, and the atmosphere was fun. I was surprised by hell impressive the menu was at still reasonable prices. I would definitely come here again. I would recommend the Wagyu sliders. The bacon jam is delicious.

The food at Portside is excellent and worth the trip. The dinner menu is limited but I, who love cioppino and bouillabaisse, had one of the best tasting cioppinos I've had. It had two good size pieces of salmon, white rock fish, three large shrimp, but I asked them to hold the mussels which I don't care for. It also had vegetables, baby octopus and calamari. Likewise the Caesar Salad was excellent, and my Irish Coffee was made well. It's very much like a sports bar with a large bar, tv's and a comfortable lounge. Parking is not a problem and they're open until 11 pm (kitchen until 10:30 pm. It's a very good restaurant and recommended. Merritt Weisinger Sparks, NV

Allow me to craft a mixed review for The Landing. My dining experience at The Landing Upstairs, Jeremiah's, was quite a mixed bag. Let's begin with the positive aspect – the food. It was nothing short of exceptional. The Monte Cristo and fries were a symphony of delicious flavors that could only be described as perfection. In addition, the bacon-wrapped scallops was also quite enjoyable, leaving a savory aftertaste that lingered on the palate. However, there were a few shortcomings that prevented this dining experience from reaching its full potential. Firstly, I must express my disappointment with the prime rib. Although I ordered it cooked to a perfect medium-rare, it was served closer to medium-well. The slightly overcooked nature detracted from the tenderness I had anticipated, leaving me yearning for a more precise execution. The table was dirty and much to our horror the waiter used his filthy booger-picking hands to just wipe the food onto the floor Furthermore, I must acknowledge the sluggish service that plagued our visit. Regrettably, we found ourselves spending a lofty two hours in the restaurant, with the bulk of that time dedicated to waiting. For an hour prior to receiving our food, we were left idling, eagerly anticipating the arrival of our dishes. This extended period of waiting undoubtedly affected our overall satisfaction with the experience. In summary, while The Landing showcased its culinary prowess in some aspects, such as the delectable Monte Cristo and the tantalizing bacon-wrapped scallops, it fell short in key areas. The prime rib not being cooked to the desired medium and the sluggish service left a blemish on an otherwise promising dining experience. So, although the positives were praiseworthy, the aforementioned negatives should be taken into account when considering a visit to The Landing.

2nd time eating at this location, my husband and I both got chicken strips. The menu says 5 when the plates came each had 4 the waitress then came back to refill our drinks and said that they were cooking the additional 1 piece for each, I had not said anything she/they figured out their own mistake. The chicken was overcooked, and the fries were good. There is the restaurant at Street Level, a hotel, and we found out on this visit there is also a restaurant upstairs, we may try there on another day. The waitress told me they have a different menu upstairs.
