Situated in downtown Ketchikan, the Southeast Alaska Discovery Center is a must-visit destination for those seeking to delve into the natural and cultural history of the area. This center offers a comprehensive insight into the region's heritage through informative exhibits, videos, and occasional talks on various topics. Visitors can explore recreated native fishing villages, stroll through lush rainforests, and engage with friendly Forest Service rangers who are eager to share their knowledge during guided walks.
Fantastic Find!! So educational and inspiring. They have a craft area for everyone. Video Room to view the past and present heritage. The Museum areas such as the Rainforest and fishing is phenomenal. They also provided treasure hunt. I felt great that I was afforded the opportunity to leave a donation from Michigan. In addition, military veterans and family get in free!! Awesome must stop.

Beautiful place, wonderful experience. Attended the ranger talk. Wow!!! Didn't expect an hour, but learned so much!! This guy covered all of Alaskan history. It was nothing I learned in school. What a great opportunity. They have a lot of extra experiences, such as videos and local artists. It's well worth it. The displays are nice. It's a beautiful facility. We did go at opening. You may want to as well. It got more crowded as we were leaving.
Sunshine — Google review
Great little museum with rotating movies and Ranger talks. Options for earning different jr ranger badges, and a download able app challenge to keep kids (or adults) enganged and learning. Can earn a prize for completing different challenges or searches. Nice gift shop. Great staff and rangers. Talkes under an hour to visit unless you are watching movies and going to Ranger talks.
Juliana B — Google review
I enjoyed our visit with my friends, and one of them said, “this place was perfect. They had just enough information on the signs that you learned something, but not so much that you were overwhelmed.” That sums it up, but I also noted that a lot of effort had been put into the choice of exhibits, and I liked the balance of discussing history, culture, biology, and ecology.
Brian L — Google review
This is a great visitor and discovery center. Something for both kids and adults. One of the forest rangers held a 45 minute presentation on the history of Alaska, touching on everything from the early American explorers, the Russians and native Americans. It was fascinating to hear about the economic and political forces that made the state what it is today. Super insightful presentation that was one of the highlights of our Katchikan shore outing. Love the forest and park service.
Gregor A — Google review
Absolutely worth the 5 dollar entrance ticket. Good introduction to history and ecology of area. Even had a live proformance from a traditional dance group.
Alexander L — Google review
Mostly a gift shop if entering without a ticket or pass, but otherwise a good spot and centrally located.
Rick V — Google review
Excellent visitor center that has a gift shop and a museum. The visitor center is ran by the National Park services. You can get your National Park passport stamp/cancellations on this place. The place didn’t have a restroom so you need to go across the road for the restroom.

Historic Walking Areas
When visiting Ketchikan, a trip to Creek Street is essential. This unique boardwalk runs along the slope next to Ketchikan Creek and is lined with charming shops, cafes, and restaurants. It's also a prime location for observing wild salmon. The area exudes an adorable fishing village vibe and is dotted with historical buildings that add to its allure. While exploring the wooden street, visitors can enjoy picturesque lookout spots and learn about the area's history through well-placed placards.
So historical and very busy- shops lined the walk way and people everywhere We enjoyed our time but be prepared for the busyness. It was raining on our visit but that didn’t stop the crowd. Fun little shops along the way.
Rita L — Google review
Off the cruise ship this is a must walkthrough the quaint historic street. Watch the salmon swim up and belly up too after they lay the eggs! Really enjoyed this area

Fun seeing the salmon and seeing sea lions! Beautiful area. Crowded with tourists the day I was there because there were five cruise ships in town.

The Totem Heritage Center in Ketchikan, Alaska, is a museum dedicated to preserving and sharing the artistic traditions of the Haida, Tlingit, and Tsimshian peoples. Founded in 1976, it houses the world's largest collection of unrestored 19th-century totem poles. Many of these intricately carved poles were recovered from uninhabited settlements on various islands.
Visited here in June 2025. Walked here from the dock and followed the creek. There are buses that will drop you off, but if you are out walking around town, you can make it by foot. Entry was six dollars. It was cool to see the history and old totems. Worth stopping in if you like history. Only spent 20 to 30 minutes to see the whole museum.
Josh H — Google review
It is a very nice museum with a lot of examples of native carvings and totem poles for your viewing pleasure. Right next to a fish hatchery, unfortunately closed to the public, and a public park which is well maintained across a bridge from the parking area. Would recommend as it is so we'll done and kept very well.

Really cool and very interesting. My favorite were the really old totem poles in the glass cases. Small place that can be done in an hour. There is a free shuttle you can take.
Lindsey H — Google review
Totally worth going if you like history, culture, and art. There is a free shuttle you can take from town, it's part of a loop that includes the salmon run. You learn a lot about history of the local tribes. Highly recommend. Can easily spend a couple hours. We walked from town there, BUT it's a little long and uphill!
RicK — Google review
Definitely an amazing place to experience the past. The museum stores historical totem poles . It’s amazing to look at these these relics, they provide a picture of the past. The staff were very friendly and the busy was well-maintained. The visit should take less than an hour. If you’re in the area, I definitely recommend visiting this museum.
Art — Google review
Would have lovwd to check this place out but they would not accept our cash (unfortunately we only had a $100 bill and 2 × $1 bills) There's no signage or notifications anywhere prior to the actual museum ticket window. They will ONLY accept $50 bills or less The reaspn provided was due to counterfeit money in the past. Pretty unfortunate for a city-run attraction
Ketchup W — Google review
Super informative museum that preserves the cultural heritage of Totem poles and other hand weaved and made items from the various Southeast Alaskan Indigenous tribes. I learned so much about the tribal culture, values and history of the totem poles carving process. Free for active military and family.

The Great Alaskan Lumberjack Show, located in downtown Ketchikan, Alaska, is a world-renowned family-friendly event that showcases live logging and ax-throwing demonstrations by top loggers and lumberjacks. The show features professional ESPN athletes who are experts in logging sports, offering an unforgettable experience for visitors.
We had a really fun time at the Alaska lumberjack show. It was neat to see such talented athletes do really cool maneuvers. They were throwing axes, spinning on logs and climbing upwards of 50 feet in competitions against other lumberjacks. They were chopping trees with axes and doing really experienced lumberjack things! Fun family event for anyone and also very good for kids. We also want ax throwing, which was very enjoyable and worth it!
Trevin D — Google review
This show was GREAT! Fun to watch AND learn a bit about the history of logging. If you get the opportunity, do the axe 🪓 throw. Steve taught us how to do it and we had a blast! Keep up the great work, guys!
Mike C — Google review
If you enjoy a good lumberjack show, you’ll love this one. The format will be quite familiar to those who remember the offerings at Sea World back in the day, or the multiple shows currently touring state fairs. It’s literally next to the dock, so it’s a great option for cruisers with limited mobility or attention spans (particularly the youngest cruisers), and easy to combine with a longer visit to Saxman, the bear sanctuary, etc. The gift shop has a surprisingly good selection and competitive prices, as well - and there’s even 49th state soda at the concession stand!
Megan R — Google review
Just the right amount of cheesy and amazing talent. I really enjoyed this show, it was worth the money. Arrive 15 min early because seating is first come first served. The athletes are really incredible and the jokes and gags were family friendly.
Sara A — Google review
Just a great show. Second time and just as fun. It rained but the covers kept all the rain off. I booked in advance but I think you would be unlucky not to get in, and while changing tickets for a later show was easy, I would leave flexibility. Maybe book online from the ship
David T — Google review
I had a blast watching those lumberjacks show off their skills and humor, but Celebrity cruise ship only gave us a tiny taste of Ketchikan, Alaska, docking from 7am to 3pm. I mean, who can really experience the wild beauty of Alaska in just eight hours? Mark and I got sucked into eating all the halibut and browsing cheesy tourist traps - yeah, we're those tourists. Next time, we're driving up from Seattle and doing it right.
Jocelyn J — Google review
This was a great experience! Definitely within walking distance from the cruise ship. We could actually see the venue from our room. The lumberjack were knowledgeable and entertaining. They gave great performances all day based on the cheers from the crowds we heard all day! Highly recommend this excursion, which was cheaper purchasing directly from their site than booking as a cruise excursion.
Susan C — Google review
Great show very fun and interesting. They kept you laughing at there jokes. I would recommend watching them and good for kids…

The Alaska Fish House is a beloved waterfront eatery in Ketchikan, known for its fresh seafood and casual atmosphere. Located at Thomas Basin Harbor, it offers a variety of simple yet delicious seafood dishes such as Dungeness crab, fish tacos, chowder, and fish and chips made with cod and salmon. The restaurant takes pride in using local ingredients to prepare their meals from scratch, ensuring that every plate is bursting with flavor.
Highly recommended fish place by our tour guide. Line move fast to order food. If you find a seat after you order food. They give you a number you bring the food to you. Indoor, seating with full service bar and outdoor seating overlooking the marina. Salmon, fish and chips was very fresh and breaded and cooked perfectly. The french fries had a chipotle seasoning on it and were fried to perfection. The coleslaws of vinegar based almost like a sweet-and-sour or vinegar sugar mixture. Was very fresh.
Tom K — Google review
The sampler is a good option. The fish tasted fresh and although it isn’t a light-style batter it clung well to the fish. I preferred the whitefish and would probably just get the cod option next time for the value. It was the most tender. Not a fan of the coleslaw. The fries were good but average. The dungeness crab was small and not worth it. It was warm and cold…? Very strange.
Dawn C — Google review
I think this was the best fish and chips we had on our Alaska trip. We tried the Halibut ($32 for 2) and Salmon (I wanna say it was $28 for 2). The service was quick and easy. The fish was fried perfectly and the fries were immaculate. The slaw was tangy which I was not used to but overall worked out with everything else on the plate. Definitely recommend!
Aswathy C — Google review
We stopped in for lunch recently and had a good experience. We tried the fish and chips with salmon, clam chowder, and crab. The mesquite fries had great flavor. The breading on the fish was tasty. The clam chowder was excellent. The Dungeness crab (full order) was great. The crab was smaller and more expensive than a previous stop on our trip, but still good. They only have 2 unisex bathrooms in the place and they were occupied awhile when we were there.
Jimmy K — Google review
This was a place we planned to visit while on our cruise. Even though it was a walk up and order, it was perfect. I ordered the salmon and my husband ordered the halibut and we shared. The meals came with fries, cole slaw and their house made tartar sauce. I'm not sure what was in the sauce but it was delicious. I planned to drink beer from local breweries and there were plenty of options. I highly recommend this stop.
Mary S — Google review
My girlfriend and I split a pound of crab which was around $50.00. Firstly, the quick service was great and our meal came within 10 minutes. They provided free coffee and water once you dine in and plenty of seating with a friendly atmosphere. We went at 10 A.M. though there was still a good portion of people in the restaurant, which surprised me with how quick our food came. The crab had great flavor and barely required butter. It also came out hot and soft, requiring little utensil usage and easy to crack and pick apart. As much as some shops may be chaotic in the surrounding areas, this one was quite relaxing and gave us a break from the hustle and bustle of tourism.
Kjc — Google review
The fish and chips was awesome. We had the Alaska sampler with the 3 types of fish and salmon chowder. Chips were good too. I was skeptical of the coleslaw but it turned out well enough that I ate all of it.
Pei Y — Google review
Honestly phenomenal food. I got the blackened halibut tacos off a recommendation, and let’s just say upon finishing them I had to go find my socks because they were blown right off. Not to mention the very generous portion of perfectly crispy fries. 11/10 lived up to the hype of my coworkers.

Embark on the Bering Sea Crab Fishermen's Tour for an unforgettable experience on the Alaskan waters. Lasting about 3 hours, this adventure provides waterproof jackets and complimentary hot beverages as you cruise through the protected Inside Passage. Witness the crew in action as they pull up their catch, and learn firsthand about crab fishing techniques. This tour takes you through Alaska Native waters around Annette Island, allowing for a unique experience outside of state crabbing/fishing seasons.
My wife and I did this tour during our cruise to Alaska and had a wonderful time! We’ve watched Deadliest Catch from the beginning, and being able to go on a boat we watched on TV was a blast. The captain and crew, all veterans of Alaska crab fishing, shared their stories and showed how everything on the boat was used in real life. They’re passionate about what they do and making sure that everyone that comes on board feels like part of their family for a little while. It was a great time, anyone that’s a fan of the show or even a little curious will enjoy.
James G — Google review
This was the best experience EVER!! Not only do you have an incredible experience learning about the Bering Sea’s wildlife, you also get the jaw-dropping stories from each crew member of what it’s really like to be out in the Bering Sea for years. The entire crew is so experienced, passionate and phenomenal! This was truly the best excursion that I’ve ever been on! I would recommend it as the top excursion for anyone going to Alaska!
Erin S — Google review
The excursion called the Bering Sea Crab Fisherman‘s Tour on the Aleutian Ballad was the BEST EVER! The crew was very knowledgeable and friendly, and fantastic stories of their life experiences were told. All of the demonstrations, explanations, and touching some of the sea creatures was phenomenal! This is definitely an excursion you do not want to miss!
Barb K — Google review
Great tour even though we had a cold and rainy day. The staff on this boat is genuine and they care about giving you all the details about the history of crabbing and their stories. They provide rain jackets. The downstairs part has heaters above it, but we got to go up to the top which I think had better views all around the boat (but no heaters) This was a highlight of our stop in Ketchikan. The tour was a little over 3 hours, we stopped and saw a whale, then picked up numerous crab traps, small ones, medium and large ones like you see on Deadliest Catch. They have food on board, but we did not get any of it as it was $50/$100 for the on board crab legs (I think 1/2 lb / 1 lb). They let you take as many pictures as you want including holding the hook like you are going to throw it. They have a tank of crabs, shrimp and other things and you get to hold most of it except for the large King crabs. They do bring those around and you can touch them but not hold them, which I understand after seeing the size of their claws. After picking up all the traps, they stop at a spot and throw fish out and some eagles come out of the woods and grab them from the water. This was pretty cool to see. They do bait and haul a few lines hoping to catch fish, but on our tour we did not have any. The largest crab trap has fake crabs in it which was a little weird, but I understand they want to make sure it looks good when its hauled up. Some other traps they hauled up had crabs in them, which probably stay there. One trap had an octopus which was neat. Overall, this was a great tour and I would highly recommend it to anyone who has seen Deadliest Catch or is interested in crabs.

This was an absolute blast. Where do I start? 1. It's on the Aleutian Ballad, Deadliest Catch Season 2. This ship shouldn't be above the water still but it is. Heck of a story in it's own right. 2. Everyone on the crew from the Captain down was just amazingly personable and had fantastic real world stories from their own lives to share. They made for an incredibly welcoming and warm experience. 3. The experience itself. EXTREMELY informative and hands on. All kinds of wildlife to experience up close, down to Eagles and Whales even. Gave me the opportunity for the quintessential bucket list tail shot even (unplanned, but I'll take it!) 4. King Crab ready to eat on the boat. Need I say more? Just do this. It's an experience for everyone with a lot of stories and history behind every turn. We will be returning with our kids in the future for sure.

This was an AMAZING tour. I highly recommend taking advantage of this opportunity. It was entertaining and informative the whole trip. Very interactive and just a great time. This was our first trip to Alaska and this tour honestly was the best ever. The stories, the knowledge, and their experiences just shined through. The love what they do and it shows! Thank you to the captain, the crew, and all those that make this tour what it is. We had a wonderful time!
Tony C — Google review
Best excursion of our Alaska cruise!! We learned so much about the crabs and the boat and the men behind the tour. We braved the weather and enjoyed every second of the tour. We were able to handle crab and starfish. We saw gorgeous eagles as well. On our way back, a whale was spotted and the captain took us closer and waited until we found and spotted the whale again. This was not part of the tour but shows just how extraordinary the captains are and how much they love and respect the water and creatures that live within them. A must do tour for anyone visiting the area!
Judy S — Google review
We had such an amazing time on our Bering Sea excursion from our Alaska cruise, absolutely amazing! The tour is so much more than just a crab fisherman's tour, it's sea stories, stunning natural beauty, humor, education and hands on exploration. We thoroughly enjoyed the shared experiences of the crew as well as the holding and touching of the sea creatures. Watching them toss crab pots, pull shrimp pots, string fishing lines and pull those lines back in was what we expected but what we got was so much more. Add to that a galley serving king crab and this tour just can't be beat!

The Ketchikan Kayak Company has been leading small-group ecotours in the Inside Passage since 2003. Their 4-hour guided kayaking tour takes you through downtown Ketchikan, Knudson Cove Marina, and Clover Pass where you may spot sea lions, seals, bald eagles, humpback whales, orcas, and migratory birds. Families enjoy paddling up Ketchikan Creek during salmon season for a unique experience.
Great operation, we did an e-bike and Hike. Danielle did an incredible job assisting me, as I was quite new to the e-bike. The hike took us out through part of the Tongass National Forest along Lunch Creek Trail. Back at the base we were treated to smoked salmon or hummus on crackers. An Excellent way to spend a few hours away from the cruise. We were picked up right at Ward Cove.

Our kayak trip was the highlight of our visit to Ketchikan! We did the Clover Pass Kayak Eco-Tour. Our very personable driver picked us up at one of the meeting places, and from the moment we met him we knew we picked a great kayak tour company. Our awesome guides, Chris & Zach, were so friendly, informative, and professional. We were very lucky the day we went with great weather and were fortunate to not only see eagles, seals, and sea lions, but also a Humpback whale that came up a few times! We've done a lot of whale watching, but didn't expect to have this amazing experience. We would highly recommend Ketchikan Kayak Company!
C R — Google review
I cannot recommend this tour enough. We were passing through Ketchikan on a cruise ship looking for a more authentic Alaskan experience and Ketchikan Kayak Co delivered! Our guides were kind and knowledgeable and passionate about Alaska. We experienced an abundance of wildlife including jellyfish, whales, eagles and starfish. When I think of my travels to Alaska in years to come I’ll always remember my kayak tour in Clover Pass. This is a must if you’re visiting Ketchikan!

It was an unbelievable experience! We started out on the boat while rain was falling. We got to the catamaran where they geared us up with rain gear. They explained to us thoroughly how to get in and out of the kayak. And off we went! We saw bald eagles, beautiful trees, jumping salmon and small islands. It was a great experience and I highly recommend it!

We booked the Zodiac Fast Boats excursion while visiting Ketchikan on a Alaskan Cruise. We are a couple (60,54), that were very apprehensive weather to go through with excursion due to the cold weather, (early May),and potential rain. Ultimately decided how many can say they captained a boat in the Pacific Ocean in Alaska no less. It was beyond awesome. And beyond beautiful. A few comments that may help anyone who might be considering. First off. Everyone from the driver to the gentlemen who helped us gear up to our tour guide to the bartender in the restaurant lodge were extremely friendly and professional. There was only two of us booked for our excursion date and they gave us undivided attention as if we were VIPs. Second. The weather gear provided was far above what I was expecting. They had top quality Bibs, Jackets, Boots, Gloves in all possible sizes and getting cold or wet was of no issue. Third. Our guide Andy was very patient in making sure we were comfortable operating our Zodiac as well as attempting to find wildlife continuously as we explored the many islands and waterway. We saw Eagles and sea lions, as well as several waterfalls. But no whales. Fourth. Frequently excursions will list snacks provided after your excursion only to be a bottle of water and a bag of chips. We were pleasantly surprised to be brought into the on site beautifully designed lodge where we offered a complimentary drink of our choice as well as very tasty hard breads, assorted veggies and Humus dip, crap dip and Salmon dip all of which were delicious. I would highly recommend the Ketchikan Kayak Company for anyone who loves nature and would like to avoid crowded impersonal cruise ship excursions.

Playing tourist for a day, our family got to experience our island home in a new way. This was such a core memory for my kids (10,11) that they want to grow up to be your guides. As a parent it's always a gamble on what will tickle their fancy, but this was a family friendly adventure. Our tour guides knew just how to spark the love of nature and show these local kids new things and engage them. Dana is absolutely amazing with kids! I was really impressed with Leanne's respect for wildlife and practices. She was excellent at keeping the group together and I felt relaxed and at ease, which is hard to do as a parent! Sophie showed my girls a sea creatures and took some memorable family photos that we will treasure. I am so impressed with the caliber of tour guides employed with this tour company. They are true professionals and obviously enjoy what they do. They taught me some things and were such a joy to kayak with. Alaska is beautiful, but it's the people that make it special. 100% would recommend Note: We had an amazing weather day. Not always the deal. Always plan for rain. The foot rudders were tricky but pat your head rub your belly, not a huge hang up, still pretty easy to navigate. The kids paddled the whole time and loved it! I am not a physically active person and my arms weren't sore the next day at all surprisingly. They have dry bags and gear and everything you could need so just show up and know you are in good hands, enjoy!

This is a must when visiting Ketchikan! Company was top notch, very professional and Chris and Zack - great guides on the kayak tour. We had a whale come so close to one of the kayaks and both guides knew where to go to see even better views. We were able to see whales so close, but never felt in danger or out of control. You can go on several tours and see whales, but with the Ketchikan Kayak Co - you don’t just see them up close, you can actually smell them too! Thanks to you all at KKC. Had a phenomenal time!

I loved the experience and wholeheartedly recommend! We decided to book last minute since we wanted to kayak in the ocean and the weather was nice. Devon the owner helped us set the booking up and then the tour guides Forrest and Caity were phenomenal. Forrest even spoke Spanish and they both made sure we were comfortable in the kayaks and shared a ton of insight. We even got to spot a sea lion :)

Nestled in the lively town of Ketchikan, Alaska Crêpe Co is a must-visit for food enthusiasts. This casual counter-serve eatery has garnered a reputation for its mouthwatering crepes and wraps featuring an assortment of sweet and savory fillings. The diverse menu includes popular options like the Cinnamon Toast Crepe, Breakfast Crepe, and indulgent Egg Benedict Crepe.
This was a great place to grab a quick bite to eat! Yummy! There are savory crepes and sweet crepes. My husband for the pizza one and I had the strawberry shortcake one. The crepe was delicious and wrapped well so it did not leak or cause food stains or anything. The service was prompt and right next to the Creek so we ate right next to the salmon running.

Food We were looking for a sweet option that wasn't overly sugary, and they recommended the apple crepe. To our surprise, it was a larger portion than we anticipated, so we decided to share it. The freshly chopped Granny Smith apples added a delightful tart crunch to the lightly sweetened filling. We truly appreciated the refreshing taste this dish offered. It's worth noting that breakfast, lunch, dinner, vegetarian, and sweet options are all available. Service We took advantage of the quick service window and were greeted by a gentleman who was very knowledgeable about the menu. Our food was cooked to order and arrived fresh and piping hot after a wait of about 10 to 15 minutes. It was conveniently wrapped with napkins provided. Atmosphere and Location This restaurant is conveniently situated just a short walk from the cruise ship berths at 123 Stedman Street, right before the iconic red bridge of Creek Street. We enjoyed our portable snack while strolling through Creek Street, taking in the beautiful scenery. There’s a park bench by the water across the street where you can relax. Outdoor seating would be a great addition.
Tami P — Google review
Quite overpriced for their main salmon crepe. The crepe is good but they barely have any scraps of filling for $30. If you must, get the cheapest crepe because it ll taste just as good. They auto add tip then ask you for more tip. Not sure what the auto tip is for since there's no place to sit. No plates or utensils. Just order at the window and stand outside on the sidewalk in the cold, wind, and rain. Not recommended
Byte C — Google review
While they have a nice mixture between sweet and savory, I will say for the price it’s disappointing. The serving sizes don’t necessarily justify the price. We tried the blueberry and southwest (with avocado). The southwest didn’t have that much in it. They were tasty but nothing extraordinary to justify the over $40 price. Since there is no seating inside or outside, if you want to eat there, you your options are to eat standing nearby under an awning. Again, not particularly bad but the portion sizes and taste doesn’t necessarily reflect the price (personally).

Super cute crepe shop right outside of Creek Street. We ordered the classic crepe - it was so delicious and perfectly made. Definitely big enough for two people to share. We heard about the smoked salmon option being a hit but wanted something more simple that day. Definitely worth checking out! Their service is provided at the front window and pickup is around the corner.
Kevin D — Google review
The 3 explained. It's like asking the atmosphere of a drive through. The shop is a street side grab and go the docks are right there so that's ok I think. The crepes are stunning, the Pizza Crepe was packed full of meat and stuff, I was starving and it was just what I needed. Staff was swamped but still fast and polite. Overall it was a great grab and go meal when you are walking around downtown
Rick D — Google review
Disappointing. Not worth the money. Ended up paying $60 for 2 crapes. 15% mandatory gratuity is included even though it’s a grab and go place, no where to sit. The salmon crape I got barely had any salmon and mostly filled with spinach
Marina N — Google review
Great on-the-go breakfast for tourists. My wife and I shared a classic breakfast and Nutella & banana crepes and my brother-in-law gave us a bite of his cinnamon toast crepe. The classic breakfast was delicious and filling. The Nutella & banana was certainly tasty but it was just a bit too much and messy so if you're on the fence, I would choose the cinnamon toast crepe for a delicious, sweet, and easy crepe.

Located in the heart of Ketchikan's Main Street, Salmon Market is a popular spot for both locals and tourists seeking authentic Alaskan food products. The market offers a wide variety of items such as salmon jerky, gourmet canned smoked salmon, fillets, caviar, reindeer sausage, spreads, and an assortment of Alaskan jams and jellies. Visitors can rely on the helpful staff to assist them in finding the perfect treat or souvenir.
So glad we stepping into this little market area. There were a handful of small shops. It was a cute spot that offered a variety of salmon items. They allowed us to taste several products. They were knowledgeable about the products and very friendly. Reindeer sausage, And other jerky stuff. But they also offer fresh made sandwiches- delicious! Fresh salmon. And seating area to enjoy your food items.

We got here after open to closed gates. The owner came out to let us know they had staffing issues but would take care of us in a few minutes. Since the reviews were so good, we decided it was worth waiting…and it was! We shared the salmon lox bagel (which was delicious), then tasted our way through the gift shop, where the hospitality was amazing. If you go on a cruise or are in the area, I would highly recommend stopping here.

I’m so upset. My boyfriend and I visited while on a stop for a cruise and brought over $100 worth of product. I am home and opened the packaging on the sockeye and coho smoked salmon and the salmon is spoiled and has worms. I’m so disgusted I do not trust or want to open any of the other products we bought from them. I want a refund but can’t reach a live person! *** update 5/20/2024. I just received an update that the company left a review stating that it was an industry attack in regard to comment I left 2 years ago. This is NOT a fake review.

A nice place, great lay out but be prepared to pay a pretty penny for your Coho and trout. It ain't cheap. You can get a can of Coho free if you buy 3 cans at a price of $28 each. I'll stick to my Star Kissed Tuna

Awesome products at a competitive price. Do not believe the negative reviews here. I know Jacob and Gloria personally; and they are an incredible family. Only place I feel comfortable buying smoked fish in Ketchikan. An incredible establishment for alaskan seafood.

Highly recommend coming here when in Ketchikan. Solid everything bagel with exceptional Alaskan smoked belly lox. The addition of lemon EVOO to the standard cream cheese, onion, capers, and arugula livened it up even more. Very friendly service too.

Found this great little shop on a cruise stop to Ketchikan. Stopped in to have a couple of bagels and loved it so much I had to order something when we got home. My son was looking for a souvenir from Alaska and what better option than the beautiful wooden boxes with smoked salmon inside. I ordered one for myself as well. They arrived very quickly and we got two different patterns on the boxes which are gorgeous! We will definitely be ordering again.

I got a lox bagel from here and it was one of the best I’ve ever had. The salmon was super fresh!! The inside of the establishment looked like it’s scene better days, but don’t let that deter you! Ketchikan Crab & Go is a seafood restaurant that offers generous portions of king crab, halibut, and crab cakes. It's particularly renowned for its homemade clam chowder. The cozy and relaxed ambiance with stone walls and wooden accents creates a welcoming atmosphere. The dining room has ample natural light from the windows, while the waterfront patio provides an outdoor dining option. Visitors have praised the foot-long king crab legs and the flavorful clam chowder.
Atmosphere – 5 stars Located in the Salmon Landing Market right in the heart of the tourist area, this spot has an easygoing, casual vibe with warm nautical decor. There’s plenty of indoor and outdoor seating, and we were able to get a table right away. The space was very clean and inviting — a great place to relax and enjoy fresh Alaskan seafood. Service – 5 stars Our server, Tiffany, was absolutely fantastic — super friendly, helpful, and checked on us multiple times to make sure everything was perfect. Excellent, attentive service from start to finish. Food – 5 stars Yes, it’s a little on the pricey side — but completely worth it. We had the best King Crab we’ve ever tasted, along with halibut fish and chips that were cooked to perfection. The clam chowder was rich and flavorful. When in Alaska, you’ve got to treat yourself, and this is the place to do it. Don’t skip the King Crab legs — they’re a must!

We stopped in this town during our Alaska cruise, and after walking around and exploring, most of the food spots felt a little too touristy. Then we stumbled upon this place—and I’m so glad we did. Our bartender took the time to explain the menu and how the food is sourced, which was impressive. The rest of the staff was just as welcoming and informative. It felt genuine—unlike a lot of other places that just try to move you along. The atmosphere was great, with beautiful views. The clam chowder bread bowl was one of the best we had on the entire trip. But if there’s one thing you have to try, it’s the halibut fish and chips—hands down some of the best I’ve ever had anywhere in the world. I can’t wait to come back to this town and enjoy a long, relaxed meal here again.
Dan V — Google review
All of the staff was attentive but Rochelle was the best. She gave suggestions, gave us the background of the restaurant, and answered any and all of our questions. The red king crab was succulent and so flavorful even though is served chilled. The crab fries are pricey but so worth it and much better than Maryland's crab fries.
Jeretha T — Google review
If you are in Ketchikan on a cruise or a visit this place is a must do. The halibut fish and chips was heavenly, with white flaky fish in a perfectly (I mean perfect) light batter. We also tried the crab patty melt which was absolutely delicious and of course the cold crab was amazing. Madison, one of the owners, was a delight along with our waitress. Again, this is a must do if travel to Ketchikan.

Crab & Go in Ketchikan is the perfect spot for a quick and delicious lunch right on the pier. The crab was fresh, flavorful, and perfectly cooked—easily one of the best meals we had on our trip! The staff was incredibly kind and welcoming, making the whole experience even better. We stopped in just before heading back to our cruise ship, and it was the ideal way to wrap up our day in Ketchikan. Highly recommend grabbing a bite here if you’re in town—you won’t be disappointed!

THE BEST CRAB I’VE EVER HAD!! I got The Greenhorn combo and I’m so happy I did. The crab leg was huge and the clam chowder was so delish. We sat at the bar and Sara was so so great! She answered all of the questions I had and was so kind. I definitely recommend to come here for crab while in Ketchikan!

Tl;dr - Delicious food in the touristy part. I tried so hard to go find a place further away from the cruise terminal just cause you figure it's all just tourist trap places not focused as much on quality. After losing that battle with my family, we were all happy to have found this place. It was steady traffic. Even getting there at the beginning of lunch we were seated (party of 4) within 10 minutes. It's not a large dining room, and there is also patio seating. Servers were very helpful and polite/professional. This is a crab joint and they do it well and quick. We also ordered the chowder and the halibut & chips. Food came out in short order and we got to work. It was SO much crab. It comes cold with hot/warm butter. Went well with the local draft beer. For the amount of crab, the bucket looked tiny, but it ended up being the perfect size. There was so much meat on the dungeness and king. The halibut was good, and completely overshadowed by the crab. The chowder had a sweetness to it from the fresh seafood in it. Highly recommend.

While visiting from Florida on an I took it off, but I still can’t get Alaskan cruise, we came across the Kean crab and Company restaurant. We weren’t really hungry, but we wanted to get a beer but thought why not tryouts are fish and chips. I am so glad we did! It was the best haddock that we have had since we’ve been in Alaska. The The coding was Light and Flaky while the fish was still moist. When it came to the last bite, I thought to myself I don’t want to end. Best fish and chips ever our waitress. Rochelle was professional and friendly. Her knowledge of the menu was spot on. She only made our experience better. All around a home run. so glad we came!!!

Whale Park, located at Mission and Bawden streets near Cape Fox Lodge in Ketchikan, Alaska, is a cultural melting pot where the Tlingit, Haida, and Tsimshian peoples' similar cultures mix. The Whale Park Trail offers a scenic walk along the coastline with stunning views of the Pacific Ocean and opportunities to spot wildlife such as whales, seals, and sea lions. Visitors can also witness salmon leaping up the salmon ladder on their way to spawning grounds.
A nice little park in the center of town. Come see all the animals walking past!

The only whale in this park is the whale of a tale to label this a park. Not a park in the classic sense, more like a few parking spots and some plant life which equals shade. Not a destination, but a pleasant spot when you are walking by. If you are nearby, it's definitely worth a look-see.

Ketchikan's Finest Fishing Charters, led by experienced guide Lukas, offers an unforgettable fishing experience in the stunning surroundings of Ketchikan. Guests have reported close encounters with whales, sea lions, and eagles while reeling in impressive catches like lingcod, silvers, halibut, and rockfish. Families with children as young as 7 have enjoyed half-day trips learning to troll for salmon and bottom fish for various species.
Captain Lukas was awesome. Our family of 6 had a great time and caught 3 Halibut, 2 Cod, a ghost shark, numerous Rock Fish and a Salmon. Captain Lucas took our catch to the processor and it was filleted, vacuum sealed, flash froze and over night shipped to us on day of our choice. This definitely was a highlight of our Alaskan adventure.

Tony was AMAZING!! By far the best fishing charter we have ever been on. He really knows his stuff, made it comfortable and exciting for all of us, and let us take the reins. We had fish on every 10 minutes, and he helped up set up what we needed to have it all shipped home. Will definitely be finding him next time we’re here!

This was the greatest fishing charter. The boat was comfortable and Captain Tony was absolutely great. Tony set us up on a nice school of fish 🐟. We were catching cod, rock fish and of course very nice halibut. We tore the fish up on August 28, 2025. Tony was so much fun and he truly made the entire trip for the 4 of us. I would highly recommend that this would be your very 1st choice for your fishing experience. Thank you. Lori and Rowdy Stillwell from Michigan and Stevie and Ricky from Baton Rouge Louisiana.

Captain Tony is the perfect fishing guide! He is on time, professional, knowledgeable, and fun. He asked us what our goals were for the day and boy did he deliver! He worked incredibly hard keeping lines in the water and he had a knack for finding the fish we wanted to catch. Our group, which was made up of people from age 17 to 80, all caught fish and we all had huge smiles on our faces the entire time! Thank you Captain Tony for the amazing Alaska fishing experience.

Ketchikan's Finest Fishing Charters lives up to its name. My fishing buddy and I booked 4 - 6 hour days fishing. We weren't disappointed. Captain Grayson worked his butt off putting us on fish all 4 days. We caught Silvers (Coho), pinks, halibut, rock and cod fish. We even caught a real nice King and one each of our yellow eye fish not to mention a slab of a halibut. We took home 200 lbs of fish. All the equipment from the boat to the gear were in top notch condition. I have made several salmon (deep sea) trips on my own boat and /or with charters and guides and I can honestly say that Capt. Grayson tops them all. THANK YOU CAPT GRAYSON!! His friendliness, experience, knowledge, and expertise are second to none. He knows how to fish and where the fish are. If you don't catch fish with Captain Grayson then they ain't biting. Quit searching for a charter. I have found it for you.
Dale B — Google review
THIS WAS THE BEST TRIP EVER! We did the 5-Hour Combo tour and all 3 of us, ages ranging from 23-80 years old were not only able to each reel in a Halibut, but caught plenty of Salmon too! Captain Grayson was the absolute best, and we would come back and do it again! He knew the vibe of the group, and adapted our experience to it…. Even saw we could handle some bites of a beating salmon heart😅 A unforgettable fishing trip memory to last us forever, and plenty of fish to bring home and enjoy:)

Hands-down the highlight of our Alaska cruise! We booked a guided fishing trip with Ketchikan’s Finest Fishing Charters and it absolutely lived up to the name. Our guide (and owner), Luke, was outstanding from start to finish—and he brought along his awesome little dog Rudy, which was a hit with the whole family. After a short 15-minute boat ride, we were on the fish almost immediately. Luke clearly knows the area—he adjusted once throughout the morning and kept us on the bite the entire trip. Despite being on a shortened schedule due to our cruise, we still caught 9 beautiful salmon! We were a little nervous going in since some of us tend to get seasick, but the water was calm and protected, and the boat stayed relatively close. No issues at all—and we even had a surprise whale sighting (multiple times!) which made it extra special. Luke was patient, helpful, and great with our kids (we have an 11-year-old daughter and 14-year-old son). He made the whole experience easy and enjoyable for the entire family. Ketchikan ended up being our favorite stop on the cruise, and this fishing trip was the biggest reason why. Can’t recommend Luke and his crew enough. We’ll definitely be back!

Booked with Ketchikans Finest for a 5 hour trip during our recent cruise. As soon as we disembarked our ship, Captain Jake was waiting for us with a smile on. Book with confidence...these guys are great!

Misty Fjords Air & Outfitting Inc offers an unforgettable experience to explore the 2.2 million acres of Misty Fjords National Monument. The best way to take in the breathtaking views is by seaplane or boat, traveling through Behm Canal. This wilderness area has been sculpted over millions of years by glacial activity, creating a unique landscape that's home to diverse wildlife such as killer whales, porpoises, mountain goats, and bears.
We’ve been flying with Misty Fjords Air for over 10 years, and they never disappoint. Each experience has been nothing short of spectacular, offering access to some of the most breathtaking and remote vantage points around Ketchikan. On our most recent flight, the pilot was absolutely phenomenal and professional, knowledgeable, and clearly passionate about the region. This is one of the best ways to take in the natural beauty of Alaska, and I highly recommend it to anyone visiting Ketchikan. Truly unforgettable!

We flew out on a trip with Misty Fjords earlier this month, and I can't say enough good things about the whole operation. Everything was top notch including the communication, the planes, the pilot, the flight, and the staff, and the way they really wanted to help my buddy and I have a great trip from start to finish. I recommend them to anyone, and will use them again on my next trip.

Comfortable van ride to/from cruise ship docks. Safely flown. (Pricey when booked through Disney Cruise Tours...but you're guaranteed the ship won't leave without you.) Pleasant staff. Unfortunately, disappointed in the actual flight. First, we had a pilot who didn't tell us much about the Misty Fjords. He routed his iPhone music through the headsets (like it or not) and just flew us over the preprogrammed flight route. We had a full plane and several tried asking questions about the terrain features, and he'd answer, but without any embellishment. Just his music playing. While I didn't expect a play-by-play description of each rock and tree, I thought there would be more description about the fjords we paid to tour. If the pilot doesn't want to talk, then at least provide pre-recorded information pax can listen to during flight about the fjords. Second, the plane itself does not have large windows and flies slightly nose high. So you can't see forward well at all, and you have limited visibility through the window next to your seat. You'll need to crane your neck and shift in your seating to look down and out at the fjords and mountains. (The pilot could have slightly raised each wing from time to time so we could see out better, or make gentle S-turns.) Sadly all things considered, I wouldn't do it again or recommend it. It was an expensive, hard to see out, informationally lacking flight tour.

City Park in Ketchikan, Alaska is a beloved spot for locals and visitors alike. The park features the Totem Heritage Center and is surrounded by scenic attractions like Creek Street and the Ketchikan Creek fish ladder. With its ornamental pools, footbridges, fountain, and large trees, City Park offers a tranquil atmosphere for leisurely strolls or relaxing with family. It's also a great place to witness the natural beauty of jumping salmon at the Salmon Ladder.
When I was in high school 30 years ago I loved to come here to relax. If I was riding my bike anywhere near here, I'd ride through this park. I just returned for a visit and it is better than ever. I'm told all the sidewalks are newly redone, the fountain was added, and it is all spectacular. Not a huge park, but large enough for a nice walk around a few times and new things to find each lap. I had a lovely trip with our captain Nate, guide Avery, and guide Kenzie. The hovercraft handling was extremely smooth by our captain across the water, feeling less like a boat and more like a drive. Our knowledgeable guides were full of energy and made my family's trip special with our excursion to see seals and eagles, local language lessons, recommendations for town, and wildlife facts. I look forward to returning. Thank you so much.
Tony N — Google review
The entire experience was incredible for my family and me. The hovercraft itself is an impressive machine, moving smoothly over water and onto land. The driver and guides were extremely knowledgeable and helpful. We saw amazing views of the strait near Ketchikan, and landed on Black Sands Beach, where we saw some of the most diverse plant life (bulb kelp, popper kelp) and wildlife (bald eagles, falcons, starfish, moon snails) we’ve ever seen. Highly recommend. The only downside was a long wait in Ketchikan caused by our cruise line. I recommend booking directly with the Hovercraft company.

This is the absolute coolest tourist thing you can do in Ketchikan. You will likely not have an opportunity like this anywhere else to ride on hovercraft and enjoy this beautiful scenery. Greg and Madi were awesome hosts and happily answered our many questions. I would rate this as the best thing to do in town by far. The smoothest ride on land and water with on-water drifting! Thank you so much!
Adam C — Google review
Excellent tour! They took us around the bay, on and off land, to a beach to see eagles and feed them as well as explore. Took us to see seals on an island, explained local items and scenery! One of the highlights of our cruise!
Donald M — Google review
Great tour. We did this last week. Loved the Hoover Kraft and got to see eagles and seals. Since short time in port this excursion left us time to explore creek street and the salmon run. I would highly recommend!
Julie H — Google review
Exciting way to see wildlife in Ketchikan! The hovercraft is fast, doesn’t disturb underwater life, and makes surprisingly little sound. Intimate group of 10 guests with a pilot and narrator/naturalist. Free snacks on board are a nice touch. We saw lots of eagles and stopped at a black sand beach. The tour lasts a quick 90 minutes, so there is plenty of time to do see Ketchikan afterward. My only suggestion would be to go by Saxman native village on the tour. Highest recommendation!
Louisa R — Google review
Matt was our captain and Conner first mate/ naturalist were very informative!! We spent an hour and a half on the hover craft and the ride was so smooth!! We saw several Bald Eagles, a small and a whale!

Burger Queen is a cozy eatery located in the charming town of Ketchikan Census, offering a delightful array of gourmet burgers and classic American fare. Despite being situated in a seafood-centric area, this spot has gained popularity for its delectable burgers, including the Hawaiian burger featuring a tantalizing combination of ham and pineapple. The joint also serves up fresh fish burgers made from locally caught seafood.
I always follow my nose, and my nose brought me here while visiting Ketchikan. It's always some tiny hole-in-the-wall, and they didn't disappoint! My only regret was that I didn't purchase a second burger for later.

Great Halibut and chips. Fast delivery across the street to the Arctic Bar. Picture is half eaten! Firm, hot fish and great onion rings
MikeJan P — Google review
If it hasn’t been voted Best Burger in Ketchikan then I will gladly give it that designation. We were having drinks across the street and ordered a burger. They brought it to us at the bar which was amazing service. The burger was really good and prepared very well. We had one order of fries and it was enough for two people. Most bars don’t serve food so places like Burger Queen in Ketchikan are always an amazing option for quality and service.

Food is good. Price of the food is ok. Theres some bugs flying here and there and needs more chairs to seat. But overall good.

Burgers & onion rings were very good. We’d had an average lunch at another restaurant in town. We had heard this was the best burger in town! They were not wrong. It was a great burger with great toppings. It’s a small restaurant so don’t miss it! Even though it was a little rainy we sat on the picnic tables under the umbrella & it was great!!

Alava's Fish-n-Chowder is a delightful seafood gem that promises an unforgettable lunch experience. This charming, no-frills eatery prides itself on serving the freshest fish, as they humorously note they’re busy catching your meal instead of serving breakfast! With a menu featuring homemade delights like their renowned fish and chips—made with either halibut or cod—and a rich chowder brimming with corn and carrots, every bite is a taste of coastal comfort.
This place is so darn cute and delicious! We got the Cod sandwich and a side of clam chowder and it was the best we have ever had. We found a table by the water down the street to eat our food by the water for views
Melisa D — Google review
Absolutely worth the easy walk from the cruise-lines. THE BEST FOOD we have had on this entire cruise including in Vancouver! Crispy tempura-like fresh Halibut, PERFECT fries, tangy slaw - even better than the salmon bake in Juneau, the batter is divine! Had a fun brief chat with the owner to add to the ambiance- a true local treasure with plenty of local stories. Skip the whole fake vibe of the pier and enjoy an easy stroll down the street to this place - I sure wish it was round the corner from us in Arizona, I’d be there every day!
Angelia M — Google review
We did some halibut tasting at a few places around town today. We stumbled across alava's when we went into Safeway. By far the best we tried. The melt in your mouth breading is amazing! I have never had anything like it. The claim chowder was full of clams and everything tasted so fresh! The owner was so friendly too! Highly recommend
Yvonne R — Google review
The food is so great here! If you're a fish and chips kind of person this is a great place to get them. They have my favorite chowder too. It's owned and operated by a local family, father, mother and son. They are nice and have good customer service. The prices here are reasonable for the area, as a seafood city, fish and chips are everywhere, these though are in my top three. This is a walk up and eat outside type of place, and in wonderful rainy Ketchikan, that's not always great. They have a drive through and that's very helpful. The only con to this place is, that the food is so good, they are often out of food and have to close early. So definitely get it when you can!
MyGina M — Google review
This hidden gem along the waterfront is a must visit if you enjoy traditional fish and chips and clam chowder. We had the chowder meal on our first visit and chose onion rings as the side instead of fries. The o- rings were some of the best I’ve ever had! Outdoor dining is available on a picnic table or you can order takeaway. My second visit was for takeaway on the way to the airport. I had the cod, fish & chips. Again, the freshly made food was delicious. I enjoyed eating it while awaiting the ferry. In a town with extremely high prices for food, you’ll find not only some of the best food here, but reasonable prices as well.
Tailer F — Google review
Hands-down, the best fish and chips I have ever had! We were walking through town and stumbled upon this place, and the staff was fantastic. Couldn’t rate it higher.

I found this place on one of my Alaska cruises and had THE BEST fish and chips of my life! I got it made with halibut. If you’re a seafood fan, HIGHLY recommend visiting Alava’s if you’re in Ketichkan! You won’t regret it!

Ketchikan is a beautiful village and we were very fortunate to visit it. The circuit is a wonderful opportunity to see a "nature documentary" in real.time and a lovely walk.
Valérie — Google review
If you’re in Ketchikan you have to go to the Salmon Ladder, located a short 5 min walk from the beautiful & famous Creek Street. Watch salmon migrating up stream in their hundreds and thousands. Some will struggle against the huge torrent of water, but some will take the easier route via the Salmon Ladder. It’s fascinating to watch. It’s completely unique, and something you’ve never seen before. We were here in mid August and it was the king salmon that were running.
Gustav — Google review
This is a must-see if you stop in Ketchikan. It is an easy walk from the port where the cruise ships pull in, and the entire Creek Street area is a nice boardwalk for people to walk along and see salmon (or maybe a seal like we did as well).
I M — Google review
Salmon Ladder Vista in Ketchikan, Alaska, offers a unique and captivating opportunity to witness the annual salmon migration. Located at 661 Park Avenue, this site features a salmon ladder—a human-made structure designed to assist fish in navigating obstacles like waterfalls. Salmon Ladder Vista is situated approximately a 10–15 minute walk from downtown Ketchikan. Visitors can reach the site by following Park Avenue uphill to the bridge over Ketchikan Creek, where the ladder is visible. Alternatively, walking along Creek Street and following signs to the salmon ladder is another scenic route. The highlight of the site is the impressive sight of salmon navigating the ladder. At the peak of the run, the water appears "black with salmon," providing a mesmerizing natural spectacle. In addition to salmon, visitors may observe other wildlife such as seals and bald eagles in the vicinity, adding to the area's natural allure. The location offers picturesque views of Ketchikan Creek and the surrounding forested landscape, making it a pleasant spot for nature enthusiasts and photographers. For the best chance to witness the salmon migration, plan your visit between late June and mid-September. The site involves a moderate uphill walk; visitors should wear comfortable footwear and be prepared for varying weather conditions. Respect Wildlife: Maintain a respectful distance from the wildlife and refrain from feeding or disturbing the animals. Photography: Bring a camera with a zoom lens to capture the action without intruding on the natural behavior of the animals.

Awesome day with Tim as our guide! He took care of all our fishing needs and made sure we had a great experience. All six in our group caught many fish. Salmon and rock fish. We then went to the company's private beach where Tim and crew cooked us an amazing lunch with the fish we caught in the most beautiful setting. Worth every penny!

My wife and I recently had an absolutely incredible fishing trip with Baranof Excursions, and I can't recommend them enough. From start to finish, this was exactly what we hoped for in an Alaskan fishing adventure. Our guide Landon was exceptional - friendly, knowledgeable, and incredibly patient. His expertise really showed as he explained what we were doing and why, making the experience enjoyable for us as beginners to Salmon and Halibut fishing. The boat was well maintained, fully covered, and gave us a smooth ride out to the fishing spot. The ride was half the fun, Landon pointing out tons of different wildlife and great views of the surrounding mountains. Our group managed to land 2 salmon early in the trip, and when the salmon bite slowed down, Landon quickly transitioned us to halibut fishing, which turned out to be the highlight of our day. We caught an enormous 85-pound halibut that was absolutely thrilling to bring in, it put up an insane fight and getting it into the boat was an adventure in itself. What really impressed us was Landon's dedication to making sure we had the full experience. When the massive halibut broke the net, he went above and beyond to still get it safely into the boat without so we could get our trophy photos, even though the fish was too big to keep. At the end of the day our group caught 2 Coho Salmon, 2 Sharks, a Flounder, and 4 Halibut. The combination of professional service, top-notch equipment, stunning scenery, and fantastic fishing made this a truly memorable experience. If you're looking for a fishing charter in Ketchikan, Baranof Excursions should be your first choice.

My son and I went on an excursion while cruising with Celebrity. The day started with amazing weather, blue skies and got to a high of about 70 degrees. Our captain was Talon and he put us in a group with 4 other guests and got us on fish within 10 minutes of leaving the port. He was safe, quick with securing the fish and we were able to keep the fish coming, each of us getting several before heading to the lunch spot. He even let us troll for salmon and we caught some pink salmon for lunch in addition to several different types of Rock Fish. The lunch was amazing and it was one of the best days of our cruise.

We had the best experience with Captain Andy today! We set our crab pots then went fishing for halibut. After catching a lunch’s worth, we harvested our pots. Andy and the team cooked the crab and halibut at their campsite and it was the best dish of the week! Highly recommend this fun yet professional outfit.

We went fishing for Halibut off the Ketchikan coast with Baranof Fishing Charters booked thru our cruise line. Captain Garrett put us SPOT ON the Halibut. We caught 22 good sized Halibut in 3 hours. He was so nice, professional & did a fantastic job of netting our fish and giving us tips on catching. This was TRULY the highlight of our Alaskan adventure. He really worked hard to make this the best experience possible. The boat was comfortable, roomy and well maintained. He provided us with several kinds of bait & lures to have the full experience. He then treated us with a salmon dip & gourmet cookie snack on the return trip. We could not have asked for a better experience. If you are fishing in Alaska, I highly recommend Baranof. (Ask for Cap'n Garrett!)

This is my fishing trip out of Ketchikan AK. I booked this excursion on The Holland American Eurodam and it is a 5 star recommendation. We caught fish all day, the weather was great, the water was calm, the gear and boat were excellent, the guide knew what he was doing, the eagle sightings were a bonus, could not ask for more to make this trip special. Thanks to David Smithers our guide and Baranof Fishing Excursions. Your outfit and David made it a memorable day fishing. I can recommend this trip and this outfitter. Top notch gear and boat and they know where to go to get you on the fish. I would go every time I'm in Ketchikan! Worth the money!

Thank you Wild Life Tours for picking us up right where we de-boarded our cruise and made it so easy. Jeff was an outstanding tour guide and shared his local knowledge as we drove to the Tongass Park. Great (easy) walk through the forest, unfortunately didn’t see large wildlife but a few toads and tried some fresh berries along the way. The second half of the excursion at the Totem Pole park was interesting and beautiful little park. Highly recommend this excursion if you stop in Ketchikan on a cruise!

I took the Rainforest walk/Totem Park tour hosted by Zach last week. Zach knew his way around Ketchikan and got us right to the park (after a quick stop for amazing coffee and tea). He was warm and engaging bringing out the best of our small group of travelers. I didn't know the others in our group until this tour. We're now lifetime friends! This was the highlight of our week long cruise. The hike was easy and showed the geography of this area. He knew these plants and explained this unusual forest ecosystem well. The stream along the path took us right out on the beach where we saw (and held) a salmon and a sea star! The totem park was crowded from other tours, but Zach found a way to show us the best totems and told some wonderful stories behind them.

We stopped at a local beach, walked around Creek Street, met some more friends and tasted some amazing smoked salmon. His wife Garry was so sweet to email with while planning...I just knew it was the right choice for us!!! Spending the morning with Art was like visiting with a friend!
Denise B — Google review
I want to thank Art for taking all 6 of us "on". We signed up for this tour while our Holland America cruise ship was in port in Ketchikan. Art told us where to meet him, and we connected and met up. There was no problem with communication with him Art has lived in Ketchikan for many years and knows all the places to see. We saw things not on the cruise ship tour--we saw Totems, water falls, and other pretty things to look at. His stories were great--informative and personal. It never felt scripted and we were comfortable the whole time we were with him--like a close associate/friend. He explained so many things. I don't want to give away secrets. But if you take a tour with him, you should enjoy yourselves. You can put 6 people in the van--we did it--but it was a bit tight as we are bigger people. If you are family and have kids, 6 would fit just fine.

Art Shayen made our Alaska visit so much better. He was in regular communication with me before we got off the ship and took us to multiple places. We saw Eagles, Bears, Salmon and lots of totems. Being a native American he was full of history and facts about his people and gave us a very informative tour. He was also one of the nicest people we met there and Alaska is filled with nice people. I highly recommend Rainy Day Tours!!

We had Art as a driver, he was informative, patient and made sure we all got to see what we wanted. I know it’s pure LUCK but we were even able to see BEAR with a naked eye! He took us to a waterfall, we saw eagles, seals and salmon! Our group was 18-74 and his pace was good for everyone! He made great dinner recommendations and was an amazing guide!

As soon as you know your itinerary and day in port, book Rainy Day Tours before someone else does. Not only is Art a really personable guy, he has a vast knowledge of the native tribes, wildlife, history, and geography of Ketchikan. We can’t recommend Rainy Day Tours highly enough, for a fraction of the price of the cruise excursions. He handled our group of 4 adults and 2 kids with ease, and the whole experience exceeded our expectations…thank you so much, Art, for a wonderful morning and for cueing the sunshine, black bears, and bald eagles!

An outstanding add on to the lumberjack show. crab crab and more crab as much as you can eat. Highly recommended

Wow we wanted to go to the Harbour house and have crab. They said we would have to buy tickets on the ship! What joke! Go to Annabel’s y instead.
HAROLD B — Google review
We did the lumberjack show with crab excursion off the Celebrity Edge. The lunch exceeded expectations. There was a small salad and a few boiled new potatoes - nothing special - but the quality and quantity of Dungeness crab that we were offered was astonishing. We had a good local beer and some unique local sodas, and a very tasty carrot cake for dessert - all part of the ship excursion package. The servers were lovely and efficient! This was a real value and a lot of fun. Recommended!

Located on South Tongass Hwy, approximately 2.5 miles south of Ketchikan, Totem Bight State Historical Park is an incorporated Tlingit village with 475 residents. The park features a traditional clan house and totem poles from abandoned villages around the Southeast that have been restored or recarved in the 1930s.
Fantastic place to get to experience Totems first hand. Place is beautiful and filled with history. Highly recommend having a guided tour to really experience everything there is to learn about. Wasn't crowded and we were blessed with extremely rare and Sunny day!

A great experience of native history! We took the bus from downtown and it took about 25 minutes to get there. We were able to see inside the joint historical reconstructed building, and had a unique perspective from a Parks Ranger. Thank you again for the enjoyable experience!
Chris R — Google review
This place was a great piece of history. If you are in the area what you most likely will be.If you are taking a cruise ship, it is definitely a cool sight to see. Learning about the natives and the way that they lived and their culture is really interesting. The type of artwork that they use is like none other, and the stories that they depict are truly bizarre. It is a must see for any history enthusiast.
Zachary C — Google review
Awesome experience with a well knowledged tour guide who has lived in the area for around 20 years. Clark's Custom Island Tours on Viator.com was fantastic, this was just one of the many stops we made today on the tour. Very cool to learn about how everything was made and what the totem poles actually mean, cause they are really not meant to just be decorative.

What are great place to visit. We had only a short time there as part of a tour but would go back without the tour. Neat place.

We spent a day in Ketchikan port and decided to rent a car. We were fortunate to have clear weather, despite Ketchikan's reputation as one of the wettest areas in Alaska. In order to avoid crowds, we headed towards the end of the main road where we discovered Settlers Cove State Recreation Site. This stunning location offers panoramic views of the ocean, with opportunities for beach walks, camping, and hiking along well-maintained trails.
We were in Ketchikan port for the day and rented a car. We lucked out with a beautiful day. Ketchikan is known to be one of the wettest areas in Alaska. We wanted to go as far away from the crowds and this was at the end of the main road. This is a beautiful area that has a scenic view of the ocean and we walked along the beach, to the campsite areas, and followed the trails. The forest and waterfall were beautiful. There were no crowds which was awesome. Highly recommend visiting if you want to enjoy nature and seeing wildlife like eagles and deer. There are plenty of parking. There is also a campground.
Catherine H — Google review
Settlers Cove is one of our favorite spots on the Ketchikan road system. It’s easily accessible and offers a variety of hiking options. During low tide, you can walk along the beach and spot sea stars and other marine life we also saw Black Bear tracks in the mud. On our visit, we were lucky enough to see whales passing by. The hiking trails are well-marked, easy to navigate, and surrounded by lush plant life, making it a fantastic place to explore.
Anthony B — Google review
This site is literally at the end of the road and we spotted a bear on our arrival. It was the first place we visited in Alaska. Fresh off the boat. The weather was gorgeous (it was June) but Ketchikan being in the rain forest can be wet. It is a beautiful and quiet place and I’d love to go back during salmon season as apparently the water you see on the photos is filled with fish during that time.
Magdalena R — Google review
This is a great place to explore and get both the forest and beach experience. A very nice place for hikers to visit, or just folks who like to stretch their legs out, while enjoy some beautiful scenery. We went out there with family to see the falls and the walking trail was short enough and manageable for us to make it without issue. Afterwards, we went down to the beach and did some beachcombing and just looking around. Everything we saw was amazing and it was clean and just felt like you were in the wild. Of course, it is not exactly in town. It's way out the road and takes a bit to drive there, but it is time well spent and anyone is sure to enjoy it. Looking forward to going back in the future.
Aleut G — Google review
Great beach. At the end of the road do usually really quiet. Nice day use area with some covered picnic tables and fire pits, a campground and a hiking trail. Lunch Creek Falls Loop starts at the campground or Lunch Creek Trail starts at the end of the road. They do connect together (when not under construction)
Amanda H — Google review
At $15/night this is a great place to camp right on the ocean, with great sunsets, and if you bring your paddleboard theres a nice beach area to launch. There's clean restrooms, but no showers. The fire rings and picnic tables at the camp sites are well kept and fire pit has a grill attached. There are also many trails to hike with beautiful waterfalls, and mossy landscape. While I stayed here I saw 2 bald eagles, sea otters, diving ducks, and seal. If hiking bring bear spray. If your up for a great challenging hike do Lunch Creek Trail.
Britt K — Google review
The most beautiful park I've ever experienced. A very special place.

A remote Campground and Day Use Area roughly 17 miles north of Ketchikan. It's a nice place to go swimming on a sunny day, but parking can be limited and there is no cell phone reception for the last 4 miles. Good place to really get away from the world and into nature!

Alder Park is an unassuming urban park that offers various amenities and attractions. It boasts a trail, picnic pavilion with a fireplace, benches, and grassy areas. The park also provides public toilets for visitors' convenience. Additionally, there are secluded benches scattered throughout the park. With its compact size comparable to a football field, Alder Park sits atop a steep hill.
Nice park with grass, a covered picnic area, paved path, trees and a gravel path through the trees. The kids loved exploring all the trees.
