Canberra Centre is a great place to shop and relax. There are A LOT of parking spaces and a wide variety of stores, cafés, and restaurants to explore. Clean, modern, and well-organized, perfect for spending a few hours or a full day out. Good for quick pics!
Canberra Centre is a great shopping destination with everything you could need—a wide variety of shops, cafes, restaurants, and entertainment options all in one place. It’s clean, modern, and very well laid out, making it easy to spend hours there with the family.
The only downside was the parking. Unlike many other major centres, there’s no free 3-hour parking, which was a bit disappointing, especially during school holidays when visits tend to be longer.
Still, the overall experience was very positive, and we enjoyed our time there. If the parking policy improved, it would be a definite 5-star!
A huge shopping centre with a great variety of stores — you can find just about anything here. It’s spacious, easy to navigate and there’s something for everyone.
We stopped here for a quick bite at Tiger Lane. Dining options are plentiful, ranging from casual eateries to upscale restaurants, making it a great spot for food lovers. The entertainment offerings, including a cinema and occasional events.
I Rate 4 stars to Canberra Centre because it doesn’t provide free parking! The are plenty of parking spaces and shops and restaurants and cafe and etc. it closes to London circle and other attractions.

Everything came out beautifully presented without feeling fussy. An excellent spot for a special night out, and I’ll definitely be back.

Wonderful Japanese in the heart of Canberra . Girls night out with 3 mates. We shared plates which is a wonderful way to sample the beautiful food on offer . Excellent menu and choice . We had such a wonderful dining experience. Booking ahead meant we were lucky enough to be seated at the best spot in the house - right in front of the sushi-making. We chose Hao San’s tasting menu, which was incredible value and showcased such a great variety of flavours and dishes. Each course was served seamlessly, with our plates promptly cleared as we finished, making the whole experience feel effortless. If you’re looking for an authentic and memorable Japanese dining experience, this place is an absolute must.
I did quite a bit of research before deciding on Raku. Reviews were positive both on the food and the service, it looked a great looking place, and offered a menu showcasing a wide variety of Japanese food.
From the moment we turned up Raku restaurant it was very impressive. The service from the door to the table was fantastic and the food was just wow!
It was a great choice to pick one of Han San’s Tasting Menu’s, because you got a wide variety of choices, and was created for two people to enjoy. From the first serving it was just amazing, and the amazing food kept coming.
I hadn’t been to a full on Japanese restaurant before and it had been sometime since my wife had been, and we were both very impressed with Raku.
We really enjoyed Raku, and still can’t decide on our favourite serving today. We’ll definitely be back!!!!

My experience with Raku was nothing short of exceptional! The presentation was perfect and flawless, the ingredients fresh and very high quality, the service was fantastic. I surprised my partner for his 40th birthday and they made sure the day was personalised and special.
The food didn’t quite meet the high expectations.
Oysters with too much vinegar, a bit too sour. Eggplants: the sauce was overly salty and strong, which overpowered the flavour of the eggplant.
Drink: too sweet for my taste.
However, I really liked the kingfish, it was very fresh. The dessert was beautifully plated, probably the best dish of the meal.
The staff were very attentive, and the atmosphere was lovely. It’s also in a convenient location in the CBD.

Dined on a Sunday night as a walk-in, not really knowing much about the restaurants in the area but decided I wanted Japanese.
Ambience was perfect. Sat at the bar with a great view of the chefs ad kitchen staff and it was like watching an orchestra of silent movement. Very entertaining and strangely calming all at once.
Service was excellent with an excellent recommendation from my waitstaff and every dish was perfect.
I had oysters, kingfish sashimi, Little Joe Angus striploin and wagyu gyoza.
Kyoto Caiparinha was fire. Ended up having two 😂.

Everywhere else was quiet so we hadn't bothered to book, luckily we got a table as it was soon full. The staff were professional and welcoming and had us seated overlooking the prep kitchen which was entertaining. Both the drinks and food menu were extensive. The expres lunch looked great value and was tempting however we decided to make our own selection which we washed down with a cocktail followed by warm Sake. Everything was wonderful and we couldn't pick a winner.

Fantastic place for birthday party! The whole ambience, food, entertainment and support were awesome! The party host was really accommodating to our requests and we thoroughly enjoyed the experience. The party packages were well worth the price and the whole group loved it!

I don’t usually leave reviews, but I had to this time because Ellee made my visit unforgettable. From the moment I walked in, she greeted me with such genuine warmth and friendliness that it instantly set the tone for the whole experience.
Throughout the night, she was attentive, helpful, and just an absolute joy to be around. She went out of her way to make sure I was having fun and that everything I needed was taken care of. It wasn’t just good service - it was the kind of care that makes you feel like you’re more than just another customer.
The games and atmosphere were great, but honestly, it was Ellee who made the night special. If it weren’t for her, it would’ve just been another trip to an arcade. Because of her, it turned into something I’ll genuinely remember.

Don't go if you are in any way claustrophobic. The seats are overly packed in and are not on enough of a raked floor. There's very little in the way of fresh air too, the production lets some theatrical smoke into the air so the "searchlight beams" can be seen before the show starts. They let people bring in booze so you can smell beer burps. I felt overwhelmed by the closeness of everyone and had to leave just before the show began. It seems like a terribly outdated venue. Before you even go in you can smell the toilets. What a waste of my money.....I really wanted to see 1984 😭
I attended a showing of the Gruffalos Child today with my colleagues and children where I work.
Cannot fault the show, the performances were wonderful and was thoroughly enjoyed by children and adults alike.
However, the organisation of ushering groups in an appropriate time frame was poor to say the least. We arrived 10 minutes before the show started, but were made to wait 15 -20 minutes with our young children in the foyer.
After finally being shown where to enter the theatre, an employee referred to us as a public school when clearly the children were not of school age.
To cut my rant short. Please! You know how many groups of children will be attending your theatre. Manage how you receive them, provide courtesy updates if a problem has occurred and remember, young children should not be made to sit and wait as though they were adults.
Thank goodness we seasoned Educators have many tricks up our sleeves to keep them entertained!
Visited recently to watch the Air Force Band - Victory in the Pacific 80th Anniversary Concert. It was excellent. The conductor, band, singers and MCs were wonderful. There was a film showing the horror and loss of war and the emotional ending of the war with images of celebrating in the streets. It was a very well done concert. Thank you. I hope peace will happen in many parts of the world.
Canberra Theatre Centre is an excellent venue for live shows.
The seating is comfortable and you have a good view no matter where you are sitting.

COMPA is a new Italian steakhouse by Chef Matt Moran, known for its sustainable and seasonal produce sourced from the family farm. The menu features Black Angus and Berkshire pig cuts, fresh pasta, and a variety of tasty sides. While it's considered expensive, the exceptional service and down-to-earth yet delicious food make it worth the price. The dining area may be cramped but pleasant, with attentive and friendly staff. Although some found the starters average in size, the wine was excellent.
Had a lunch date at Compa, really easy to grab a table. Service was lovely, really friendly and they made helpful recommendations. We loved all our meals, all elements complimented each other combined for a genuine experience. Favourites were the Mac and cheese (seriously) and the wagyu steak! The ricotta and stone baked bread were also standouts. We’re very full.

I absolutely loved dining at Compa! We came up for the weekend from Melbourne and were definitely impressed by the hospitality. I loved everything about this restaurant, food, cocktail list, service & the moody soft decor. We each had a main and shared sides & dessert. Had a beautiful evening dining at COMPA Restaurante in Canberra. The atmosphere was absolutely divine – warm, stylish, and inviting. From the moment we arrived, the customer service stood out. Friendly, attentive, and professional across the board – a real highlight of the experience.
Now to the food: the octopus was perfectly cooked – tender with a beautiful char, full of flavour. The steak tartare was absolutely out of this world – rich, balanced, and hands down one of the best I’ve had. These dishes alone would bring me back.
However, I was let down by the pasta. It was unexpectedly spicy – overwhelmingly so – to the point where it masked any other flavour. I also didn’t feel like the pasta was freshly made, which was disappointing given the standard of the other dishes.
Despite the pasta not hitting the mark for me, the overall experience was still very positive. The service, setting, and standout dishes made it a memorable night, and I’d happily return to try more of the menu.
Arrived at around 8.30pm for a late dinner and was able to get a table as a walk-in without any issues.
The menu is fairly extensive and works either as a traditional starter / main or ordering a variety of small and large plates for the table. In my experience the servings were very generous. I ordered the fried zucchini flower to start, followed by the porchetta and finally tiramisu for dessert. The kitchen was efficient and the dishes were beautifully plated. The zucchini flower was perfectly crispy with plenty of cheese on top. The porchetta was huge and prepared in their wood fire oven, some pieces had better, crunchier crackling than others but overall still excellent. They described their tiramisu as the best in town so I had to give it a go, it was the highlight of the meal! Make sure you save room for some.
Service overall was good; some staff were fantastic and whilst no-one was bad there were some newer team members who were eager but perhaps a little inexperienced which I'm sure will be fine in time.
Given my late night visit the restaurant was fairly quiet with the remaining tables getting towards the tail-end of their meals, however the vibe was pleasant and the space is tastefully decorated with a variety of seating options.
First time dining at Campa Restaurant in Canberra, and it left quite an impression. This Australian-Italian spot started strong — we ordered the steak tartare and the charred octopus. The octopus was outstanding: perfectly tender, beautifully smoky, and paired with a sweet potato purée that brought the dish together in a delicious, balanced way. One of the best octopus dishes I’ve had in a while.
The service was also top-notch — friendly, attentive, and welcoming throughout the evening. We were all set to give five stars, until the main course arrived.
Unfortunately, the Tagliatelle pasta was a big letdown. It was overly spicy, with an overpowering flavour that threw the whole dish off balance. It just didn’t work for us, and we wouldn’t order it again.
Overall, we’d happily return for the great starters, lovely atmosphere, and excellent service — just not for the Tagliatelle.
I can't rate my experience at Compa highly enough. From the minute we walked in, it felt warm and inviting. The food and cocktails were delicious. We opted for the banquet menu and didn't leave disappointed. We will definitely be returning as there is a lot more on the menu that we'd love to try. Thank you, Compa, for a wonderful night, a delicious meal and attentive friendly service. We'll be seeing you again soon.

Really Good Food. Shared between 5 off us, every dish had great flavors, executed superbly. Starting with the burrata and stone baked bread, followed by the rib eye (cooked perfectly), roast carrots - a very surprising highlight, charred greens, & crispy on the outside & fluffy on the inside chips. We added the elegant snowy river trout and the pillows of beautifully flavored gnocchi alla vodka. Accompanied by good service and a well balanced Montepulciano, every morsel of this meal was delightful.

Despite being one of Alinga Street's busiest restaurants, Kinn Thai ensures prompt service for both takeout and dine-in options. Their extensive menu includes popular dishes like Tom Yum soup, pad Thai, and panang curry.
We haven't visited this restaurant in over a year, and tonight was a pleasure.
Started with 8 chicken satay skewers, which was a nice way to start. The satay sauce was tasty, and there was some sweet vinegar with onion and chillies on the side.
Hot Tom Yum with Prawns was a little bit spicy and so tasty. I like to judge a restaurant on how well it does the original dishes, and the chicken Pad Thai was outstanding.
Thank you kindly to the waitresses, chefs, and everyone involved in the presentation of a delicious meal. I would recommend visiting if you haven't before.

Loved the food the first time, so came back a second time! The first time I went here I ordered the pad see ew with prawns and it was absolutely delicious - definitely one of the best! The second time we decided to try something a bit different and got the pad Cha seafood plate with rice - overall I didn’t love this dish, it just wasn’t for me. A tad too spicy and didn’t like the way the seafood was prepared, and I wish it had more “curry” to go with the rice. The curry puffs and crab rolls were amazing though. Overall still recommend!
I’ve been coming here every time friends or family visit Canberra. I always recommend Kinn for dinner—the food consistently tastes great and never disappoints. The atmosphere is lovely, the prices are fair, and the quality of the food is excellent. Highly recommended!
A must try for Thai food In Canberra city center. The taste is good. Staffs are nice. Can be busy during the dinner time but it take not too long after order food. We ordered 3 dishes, Panang curry chick, Asian green stir fried and Salmon sashimi. Nice portion for 2 person.
Tasty and spicy. Beef curry was flavorful and spicy. Beef Fried rice was loaded with lots of veggies. Both good dishes if my eyes stopped watering.
Their crispy pork is highly recommended! Tomyum need to be less sour and milder

Ambience is vibrant, modern and very spacious. Food tasted exceptional but on a higher price end. Highlight for us was the salted egg yolk squid - well balanced and has this addicting savouriness to it. Service is 4 ⭐️ because they brought our iced Thai milk tea to the wrong table and didn’t even say anything.
Authentic Thai restaurant located in the heart of the city. Food and service was excellent. A very busy night and staff were accomodating ’walk-in’s’ as well as reservations at a great pace. We enjoyed the usual meals of Pad Thai, Penang Curry, Fried Rice, Salt and Pepper Squid and a few extra starters. Cocktails were fabulous.

Absolutely exquisite food!! Was recommended this place by 2 friends and it did not disappoint. Every single dish in the $98 tasting platter delighted my parents and I with its freshness and flavour! Worth every cent. Food all came out at the perfect time. The cocktails were also absolutely incredible and delicious with the flavours coming out really well and not overpowered by the alcohol. Servers were all very helpful and friendly. I wasn’t the biggest fan of the art decoration and wasn’t sure how I’d find eating in such dim lighting at first but the lighting almost helped to create privacy for each table as everyone’s in their own bubble of lamp light.

Among the courses, the signature tuna and corn dish was amazing.
However, the main course and dessert were quite disappointing.
The steak was a bit tough and cooled down quickly, possibly due to the cold sauce on top — it ended up feeling more like a salad. The main also felt quite heavy, mostly because of the large portions of potato and Brussels sprouts. Huge portion of garnish was a bit odd. Rather than a big plate with plain ingredients, I would have preferred something lighter but higher in quality.
chocolate dessert was overly sweet for me and lacked character. It will be good if you have a signature dessert menu such as sweet corn flavored ice cream with miso caramel and sweet corn pudding with roasted soybean flour. Something more lighter than chocolate fondant.

Each meal well presented and explained with flavour that just melt away. I loved it. Easy access aswell while being on crutches. Book in for a night out, event or just to treat yourself !! We'll worth it

So glad we walked past the night before. Enjoyed a delicious lunch here, oysters, kingfish teradito, amazing sashimi and perfectly cooked chicken. Amazing and highly recommend to anyone visiting Canberra. Might have to book if you're wanting dinner 💛
Wow!! Just WOW!! We had been told about this restaurant from a few locals and as we are visiting from interstate - valued a good recommendation. We decided to go for lunch and had the $140 tasting menu. This was next level and we were both blown away by the food which was fresh, tasty and beautifully presented. Highly recommend ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Exceptionally friendly staff and overall elevates the experience of visiting Canberra. Food is a unique fusion of Japanese and Peruvian cuisine, it shouldn't work, but it works beautifully.

I would reccomend this place as one of the bests in Canberra.Its been a while I attempted where all the dishes ordered was delicious.They have extensive vegetarian option too. The service was great and so the ambians. Will keep dining at this place for sure.

Such And Such is a cozy eatery with an ingredient-focused menu led by executive chef Nick Petersen, known for his work at Porteno in Sydney. The dishes are inventive and delicious, featuring fresh oysters from nearby Narooma and a delightful starter of school prawns crusted in cashew crumb with a spicy kick. The wine selection is extensive, offering both local favorites and international drops.
What a great spot with a great sampling menu.
The service was prompt and attentive (water was topped up and extra cutlery forthcoming), they upgraded us to a spot inside and exchanged our desert without any fuss after we forgot to mention a dietary requirement.

Unfortunately the excellent food and funky atmosphere were spoiled by a poor hostess, upon arrival. She made us feel unwelcome for being late. It was a sour tone to set for our anniversary dinner celebration.
All the other staff were pleasant & cheerful & engaging. The food was superb. I can recommend the chef’s banquet.
Be aware that construction in the area means that the normal parking options aren’t available, currently. Allow extra time.
Enjoyed the atmosphere and food on offer during 3to5 happy hour. Had just arrived down from Sydney and due to heavier long weekend traffic, we arrived in Canberra mid-afternoon and the timing turned out perfect for this experience.
The decor stood out to me just as much as the food.
$3.50 oysters plus happy hour drinks were a great way to relax.
The char grilled spatchcock was delicious - juicy, tender and paired well with the garlic bread sauce.
I’d skip the crispy rice next time to try more of the small plates.

Visited for a pre-concert dinner and had the 1.5hr Here and There menu at $80. I had high hopes after previously visiting their sister restaurant Pilot and my experience lived up to expectations!
There was a lot of food included and I got to try their sourdough flatbread, beef tartare, ricotta and cauliflower gnudi, jerk chicken with side salad and finally the rum and raisin crème caramel for dessert. Enjoyed all the dishes however the crème caramel was my favourite!
There is an extensive drinks menu including plenty of non-alcoholic options. Staff were fantastic, super friendly and welcoming with a great knowledge of all the items on the menu.
I was in and out within the 90 minutes as hoped for. Really enjoyable dinner and would recommend.
Phenomenal service and food. As a single diner without a booking they were happy to accommodate me, and I was seated in the window booth. The peirogi and brussel sprout salad were both incredibly delicious. The wait staff explained the menu (which is designed for sharing). They kindly suggested/offered a half serve of the salad, which was perfect.
The staff provided more information on the dishes as they arrived. Payment was easy and I like they were able to email a receipt.

This museum is a MUST when visiting the ACT. It’s free entry and we also saw the Mr Squiggle and Friends exhibition which is also Free 🆓 entry.
The Mr Squiggle exhibition was fantastic, brought back so many memories from watching the show when I was a child. The rest of the exhibits in the Gallery section was just as wonderful. The range of subjects is so vast and rich in Australian history. The Landmarks section was especially interesting. Overall, I would definitely recommend visiting this museum. A BIG Thumbs Up! 👍👍👍

Great museum, with many informative and historical exhibits. It's time well spent immersing oneself in the exhibits and short films that are played in the screens alongside. There are some interesting automobile exhits too.
We visited on a weekday and the museum was fairly empty. A visit is recommended, especially for the young ones.
Our family had a very positive experience here. The displays were beautiful and the building is stunning and extravagant, no expense spared in any way. Very welcoming environment, we entered without booking and just walked straight in and wandered around admiring the displays. There are many interactive elements to the displays with educational snippets everywhere you look. Many fascinating things, would definitely recommend to any age.
The Cafe was a pleasant suprise also, food and coffee were all good and reasonably priced.
Great day out, I love this Museum. I like the Australian history of our past and growth of Australia. We were there when Mr Squiggle display was happening. It was a great blast from my childhood past...Hurry Up, haha, Miss Jane, Miss Jane. It was also interesting learning about Norman Hetherington the creator.
Best of all free entry and great for kids.
This is a really nice Mueseum! The exhibits are very professional looking and beautifully presented. A lot to learn and see, with helpful digital information boards to find each item from the display and read about them.
The staff at entry were also very friendly, and the gift shop is nice. Everything is well thought out and I highly recommend a visit! It’s free to visit apart from parking, but it’s worth the cost for the time you spend here.

The National Museum of Australia is a good museum to see the history of Australia. The various exhibits are not very interactive though.
It has a good history of First Nations, as well as more recent European impacts.
Went and saw the Mr Squiggle exhibition today. What a nostalgic trip down memory lane. Reliving my childhood whilst also discovering new information all about the creator - Norman Hetherington. The tour guide Hugo, also had a vast array of knowledge detailing even more about the artist and the exhibition. Such a delight and a great mood lifter. Fantastic experience.

Love seeing movies here, makes it feel like an event. Just attended the special screening, in French, of The Count of Monte Cristo. Fantastic atmosphere complete with a serving of 3 French treats & a glass of wine. Great staff too even when they are overrun with patrons!

Great movie theatre venue but let down by 2 negatively impacting things affecting our experience.
A green, small but very noticeable dot on the screen (cinema 2), also we had 2 people who knocked over their drinks because there’s no proper drink holders. Also there’s insufficient space for drinks and food, you can’t even fit 2 large drinks on the holders.
Otherwise the venue and staff were great. What a let down though. I felt like we were all owed a partial refund just for the green dot on the screen alone.
Went to watch “How to train your Dragon” Friday night. The overall experience was disgusting, sitting in “cinema 7” which hadn’t even been cleaned - bin was full, wine glasses everywhere, popcorn all over the seats and floors which my partner swept up. Not to mention the audio cut out in the movie for about 30-45 seconds.
Clearly need to be focusing more on the cleanliness of things rather than the fancy lighting 🤦♀️.
For over $50 alone for the tickets, I wouldn’t be recommending this cinema. As we thought it was going to be the best in Canberra but it’s possibly the worst. Save your money and go elsewhere.
Used to really enjoy watching films at Palace, but the upkeep of the place has taken a turn for the worse. The cinema I sat in was in an absolute state. The chairs were filthy with stains on them, some of them were missing arm rests, and there were a whole bunch of loose chairs sitting in the front row that someone hadn't bother to collect and stash away. Place seems to be understaffed - I don't often see anymore than 2 people working there at any given time.
Recently discovered this theatre and it has become my favourite. It’s neat and well maintained. The staff is very friendly and yes, they serve good coffee ☕️ 😀.
I really like this cinema as they show some wonderful films and the Movie Club membership is great!
However, when I attended today the cinema was uncomfortably cold!!! I love winter and hate being overheated but even I was shivering through the movie

Disappointing when the start times are delayed -as was the case today 6/7/2025 for the 1.30pm session (Riviera Revenge)(started 2.10pm) when patrons for the next film session congregated- 10-12 people huddled outside the door - opening and closing the door to see if the film had finished!! and chatting loudly.
It really it is up to staff to usher these patrons back to the wine bar area and wait!!

This mini museum located on the beautiful Lake Burley Griffin, the National Capital Exhibition, in the Canberra and Region Visitors Centre is amazing at summarising how Canberra was planned and built. 📷
The exhibition is quite large but manageable in a few hours. The star of the show, the flowers, are beautiful and well tended, with many different beds and themes. The are also many market stalls, food vendors, and live entertainment. There are activity areas for children and a gnome hunt for children of all ages.

The staff were friendly and informative, happy to answer questions and share stories about Canberra’s past. The location by Lake Burley Griffin is beautiful, and you can enjoy a nice walk along the water after visiting.

The gallery has a well curated collection of portraits from different eras, the latest being digital art. The story behind some of the portraits and the people in them were informative.
Entry to the gallery is free, tickets have to be purchased for the exhibitions. There's a cafe in the gallery to take a coffee break.

I visited the National Portrait Gallery (NPG) after a stroll through parts of the National Triangle in mid-September 2025. As a first time visitor to Australia and the NPG, the works showchased in the Gallery introduced me to artists and creators from Australia's indigenous peoples and other diverse communities.
There is no fee to access the Gallery. The Gallery has café and gift shop.
firstly ive got to say im not huge fan of galleries and even less of modern artwork but on our last day in Canberra thought we'd check it out ...there is some impressive works on show and some really nice sculptures as well ...gallery is free to enter and you could do it for as long as you like ...read everything probably going to take you a little ...just looking at the art and reading snippets a lot less .. I always remember what I see is art is my personal taste..what you see is yours ...so enjoy ..does have a decent looking cafe there but we didn't try it
Free art gallery specialising in portraits of famous Australians. There is a slight skew to more contemporary art styles but there are still traditional oil paintings (which I love!) The staff are really friendly and helpful at this museum. The first gallery is overwhelming with floor to ceiling portraits on both sides. Use a room guide to read up about each artist and subject. Some of the oil paintings are so photorealistic you question if they were even painted. A lot of talented people out there. Sadly the famed Gina Rinehart portrait by Indigenous artist Vincent Namatjira is no longer on display. A true loss for society.

Very tired looking area, poor public toilet access. I think the pub and ALDI are the main reasons people go to the eastern end and Dan Murphys and ACT Govt shopfront for the western end. Great parking though to go everywhere else.

There are quite a few shops, Aldi is good if you don’t want to brave Southpoint. I’ve always found a parking spot easily enough. Poor old R2D2 had come off his mountings recently though 😳.

I had high hopes for Monster Bar in Canberra, but unfortunately, their cheese board fell well below expectations, especially considering the premium $39 price.
For that price, I expected a thoughtfully curated selection with a balance of quality cheeses, fresh accompaniments, and attention to presentation. Instead, what was served looked like something hastily thrown together at home. The board featured a few basic cheeses, some tired grapes and raisins, a handful of mixed nuts, dry crackers, and a small piece of quince paste. One of the cheeses even looked like it had been sitting out too long. It was underwhelming and felt like an afterthought, not a premium experience.
When we politely raised this with the waiter, their only suggestion was to return the board. No attempt was made to offer a replacement, a better alternative. For a venue that charges premium prices and markets itself as high-end, this lack of customer service was very disappointing.
What makes this even more frustrating is that venues like Ambrosia provide cheese boards that are not only generous and beautifully presented but also far more reasonably priced. Ambrosia’s platters show real care, with artisan cheeses, fresh produce, and well-matched sides that make you feel the price is justified.
Monster Bar needs to seriously improve both the quality of their offering and their approach to customer service. At the moment, it feels like style over substance, and not worth the money.

RIP Monster. The old Monster was our go-to for special occasions, and whilst over the last year we’d noticed a distinct drop in the level of customer service we’ve always tried to give the place the benefit of the doubt as the food and menu remained excellent. We were aware of the change in approach to an omnivore menu before we booked, and knew we’d miss the tasty veggie, vegan (and almost entirely) GF offer. Tonight we had booked an early table before a film. We were met hesitantly, shown to a dining table in the bar area where we were seated and told to order at the bar. We assumed perhaps a new approach to early evening dining or that there was an event in the main dining area. Sadly no, this is the new status quo and both our first round of drinks and food were served to the wrong table. Whilst the food was tasty, it was overpriced, and if we’d have booked for an (even more) special occasion we’d have been left with a bad taste in the mouth. A disappointing experience.
This is a nice venue within Ovolo Nishi on the ground floor. The layout of the restaurant is nice, as it is open and there is space between tables. You have to order food and drinks at the bar, so it doesn't have a typical restaurant feel to it.
We were coming to watch a movie at Palace cinemas but came here first for a beer. It is nice that they have a fireplace, as the venue has a warm and cosy feel.
It would be most convenient if you were staying in the hotel to come down for a meal.
A Thursday night birthday celebration that was 5/10. Staff not familiar with table reservation system and actual table location. Bar staff needed assistance with drinks, senior staff took over and was excellent. Bar staff were also waiters so had a lot of work. I took empty glasses to bar at one stage as table was becoming crowded. Entree was interesting with a load of olives, no cheese. Perhaps chef was off for night. Winter flu is raging in Canberra.
Staff tried to give more mains to people who already had them. Lovely location and atmosphere and food quality was almost what I had been told to expect from others recommendations. Gonna return in summertime.and try again.
The owner must have been changed. I came here twice before and it was fine. Now it's completely unacceptable. It's extremely overpriced, the portions are tiny, and worst of all, every single dish tasted terrible. They just dumped tons of salt in everything. If you want to upset someone, recommend them to come here.
After reading more negative comments, I started wondering how much of the food was actually made in the kitchen. The fried calamari cost $26 and tasted like a premade pack with salt from the supermarket. Four pieces of unremarkable little tortellini cost $30. The lamb loin that taste like merely sour cream was ridiculously tough and undercooked, and that was $46. The worst birthday dinner of my life. I'm sad that my husband chose this place to make me happy - he thought it was nice but was deceived by the new business owner.
Delicious, interesting vegetable dishes. Great flavours and well prepared. Our party of 2 shared the corn ribs, pomello pumpkin salad and the crispy tofu to start. Then shared the cauliflower shwarma main dish. The cauliflower was very tasty, ribs and tofu were very good, the pressed pumpkin in the salad was a little strange texturally, but the pomello and creamy feta was a nice combo. Great wine list, attentive service. We'll be back 👍🏼

Came here for Sunday lunch/brunch. I really liked the lively and modern atmosphere, with quite a unique indoor and outdoor setting. The food was presented nicely and coffee was good. I would say improvements could be made on the food though. The toast was a little too burnt & chewy, and hard to cut without shaking the table. Really lovely atmosphere for brunch with friends. Friendly staff and pleasant decor - not noisy. Everyone of our party of 8 enjoyed their meal - smallish, which suits me, but you might be disappointed if you are starving! Absolutely beautiful breakfast when we visited recently while on a trip from Brisbane. We had tried to go earlier in the year but it was booked out. We’re so glad we came back.
The breakfast gnocchi was perfect with a poached egg on top of delicate gnocchi with just the right spice. Wish we lived closer!

My first impressive here was really good, the location is beautiful and staff very friendly. However, the final experience was a disaster. I was eating with a celiac and after requesting and gluten free dish and double checking it was gluten free, we were shocked to find out (after consuming some of the dish) that the wait staff were mistaking and part of the dish contained gluten. This could be more a reflection of the staff member that serviced us rather than the place it’s self. Proceed with caution
On a recent trip to Canberra I was keen to try this popular eatery that I had been recommended. All the dishes on the menu have an Asian fusion influence. It’s a decent spot for brunch or lunch if you are visiting our nation’s capital.
We tried the following dishes:
‘Hainanese chicken wrap’ - with scallion salsa, avocado and chilli relish. This was an attempt of a modern twist on the classic Hainan chicken rice dish. Instead of rice, the dish is served on a flat bread (which was a bit hard for my liking), with the poached chicken on top of a bed of cucumbers and avocado with the two sauces on top. I really liked the scallion salsa, it packed a powerful punch of flavour which accompanied the chicken well. Meanwhile, I felt the chilli relish was quite mild compared to the flavours salsa.
In the summer months, I prefer eating lighter meals so this dish is perfect for that, but I wouldn’t really say this is hainanese chicken, it’s a nice chicken wrap though.
Baked eggs with chicken veal meatballs, xiu mai sugo, tofu, egg. This dish in principle sounded delicious but lacked a tad bit of flavour unfortunately.
We also ordered a side of char sui bacon. This was the highlight dish from here, and it was a pity we only ordered a side dish! The meat has a fragrant, deep smokey taste and smell to it, offset by the sweetness of the marinade.
For drinks, there was a seasonal custard apple ‘sour sop’ smoothie that I dried, I’ve never had this fruit in a smoothie form. It was creamy yet tangy, I liked it.

The Asian Noodle House is a great place to get your noodles. The staff are attentive and polite, and the prices are reasonable. The selection of dishes is excellent, making it a great choice for anyone looking for a good meal.
Christi is honestly the sweetest. She makes sure you have everything you need and does it all with the kindest smile. She’s so charming and just has this amazing energy about her. Super helpful no matter what whatever it takes, she’s on it. Loved the vibe she brought to the whole experience.

The jumbo combination laksa is a must have, absolutely delicious. The venue isn’t very cosy and it’s not table service but is great food and not costly.
The food was good but not as good as it used to be! The prices have gone way up and there is not enough seating for customers. The takeaway and uber orders were often prioritised over the eat in orders and it was SO COLD inside the restaurant. I probably wont eat in again, which is a shame

I ordered through menulog which was fine however when I got the food the portion size was very small. I paid $56 for 2 dishes thinking it would feed two people and no it did not. I called them to ask why the portions were so small and they said all their items are for one person only which meant I would have had to spend $102 to two people which is an absolute joke. and nowhere was it stated that their portions are for one person only and even on their website it is not stated. Very disappointed with them.

What a delight! I've only had Ethiopian a couple times before, but the woman working explained all of the items to me, gave me some generous portions, and they were all delicious! I especially enjoyed the beef option. The baklava was awesome too.

Amazing food, service and atmosphere. Ordered the chicken tibs, pumpkin and lentils with injera bread. The lady, I believe her name is Freole, was the epitome of hospitality and warmth. The food prices are already insanely low, especially for Canberra, yet she gave me free rice and tea. The tea was superb - sugar, spice and everything nice.
I was shocked to learn that the restaurant was newly established, it was so good that it was like she had been running it for years. They are family run, her son and husband cooking in the kitchen as well.
The food was not spicy (to account for local tastes) yet still had lots of flavour. If you want spicy, you can ask for green chillies on the side.

Westfield Belconnen has all your typical chain stores as well as some unique shops specific to Westfield Belconnen. Although the shopping mall had been here for a pretty long time and therefore elements of the building are showing signs of aging, there have been upgrades and refurbishments throughout various sections of the mall including the common seating area on level two outside Aldi and the fruit and veg shop.
The new addition of Daiso in Belconnen mall has been a welcome addition being the first Daiso store in Canberra.
One tiny improvement though is the toilets near the entrance next to Woolies. For some reason it's such a strong smell around there... maybe something that's used to clean the toilets? Would be great if the smell wasn't so strong each time you walk in that hallway.

Belconnen Westfield is big, clean, and well-organised. It offers a wide variety of shops, including supermarkets, bakeries, and cafes. A great place for shopping, grabbing a bite, or just browsing around. Everything you need is in one place!
We visited this mall and found that it has a good variety of shops. There are supermarkets, apparel, department stores, pharmacy, lots of food outlets and more. There were also places to sit, which we found convenient. We managed to find what we needed in this mall which were groceries, home furnishings, apparel and medicines.
Very cool. Very nice. I liked the access to lots of shops here. Walkable distance to the university. Can you open more sushi shops, the hero sushi thing there is not the best quality in my opinion.
Westfield Belconnen is a great shopping centre with a wide variety of stores, from fashion to groceries and everything in between. The place is spacious, clean, and easy to navigate. There are plenty of good parking availability, which makes shopping here really convenient. A one-stop destination for shopping, food, and entertainment.
Great place to shop - regular place to hang out. Good selection of shops. Bought new shoes. They have some new food shops which look like I need to come and try them out..
Kids loved how interactive this was. A bonus movie playing and the staff were fantastic!

The National Zoo & Aquarium in Canberra is hands down one of the best zoos I’ve been to in Australia! The zoo is huge with an incredible range of animals, and what made it even better was the number of opportunities to get up close and interact with them.
We went in with no expectations (it was a last-minute decision), but it turned out to be one of the best choices we made on our trip to Canberra. I can’t recommend it highly enough!
💡 Tip: Start your visit from car park 1 or 4 and loop around the zoo at a steady pace. We made the mistake of starting at car park 2, got a little lost trying to find the aquarium, and found it tricky to navigate at first.
All in all, an amazing experience and a must-visit when in Canberra!
This large zoo and aquarium is popular with ACT folk and tourists. It is located on 25 hectares of land and near Canberra. It is privately owned and hence entry fees are on the higher side. It is nevertheless a good place to visit and we found that the guide map with numbered exhibits was particularly useful as you may miss out on an exhibit otherwise. Fair bit of walking around though some spots are under shade. The terrain can be uneven. Wear comfy shoes, take water, wear hat, sunscreen. Toilets available. Cafes and restaurants available around the zoo. Lovely place for picnic. Parking is easy and plentiful though can be crowded at peak times. Best to go there early to avoid the heat and crowds. The aquarium has nice exhibits too and it popular with children. Great place for photography. Takes about 2 to 3 hours overall to visit
Loved it. I went here as a kid many years ago when they were first starting up and was very disappointed. They have absolutely exceeded my expectations this time. We spent 4 hours here with the kids. Lots of animals to see. Lots of different viewing platforms so you are assured of seeing the animals. We saw several animals being fed which was great as they were up closer. The playground is massive and many options for kids of different ages. I also loved all the zoo Art and interactive features along the way.
The zoo ia lovely witj lots to see. I came back to do the Awesome Rawsome Tour and the African Safari and thoroughly enjoyed both. We got to feed several big cats, hyenas, and so on but the highlight was patting Echo the rhino. I'm South African and have never beem so close to an adult rhino. Abby, our guide, was amazing. If you're doing the experiences, book them back to back for 20% off.

Honestly a very fun and enjoyable place. The animals looked well-cared for, and the food in Rhino Cafe was plenty for the price! Also, the playground outside the cafe is great. 😁
The Canberra Zoo and Aquarium is a fantastic place to visit and definitely worth the money. There’s so much to explore, and it easily takes a few hours to cover everything. My favourite part is always seeing the Sri Lankan leopard, and the aquarium section is really interesting as well. A great experience for families, couples, or anyone who loves animals.
A zoo like no other. The paths in zoo are wonderful and more nature based. It was great to see so many animals in open wide spaces.

The Australian National Botanic Gardens, situated in Canberra, is a serene and diverse botanical haven dedicated to the conservation and exploration of native Australian plants. Encompassing approximately 90 hectares, the gardens boast over 4000 species of flora from various Australian ecosystems. Visitors can meander through themed gardens such as a rainforest gully, eucalypt lawn, and rock garden to gain insight into the country's rich botanical heritage.
If you love plants, this place is a must-visit. There is so much to see, and the Rainforest Gully was absolutely stunning - it felt like walking through a living museum. They also run a free guided tour every day at 11 AM. I joined the tour with Kerren, and she was fantastic — full of knowledge and very friendly.
There’s also a lovely café on-site. It can get a bit busy during peak times, but it’s a great spot to relax and enjoy the surroundings.
Highly recommend visiting the Canberra Botanic Gardens!

The displays are varied and interesting. I recommend going to the visitors centre 1st and collect a free map. The staff are friendly ans helpful.

Great gardens lots of birds and interesting plants & landscapes from around Australia . To see the entire area all day stay would be best. Parking cost $17 all day so the gardens are free but get money from the parking fees so the gardens are not actually free unless you know some were to park.
Most of the walking Is easy and some wheelchair accessible for part of the park ,there are some steep walks away from the main fern gulls and out back zone .The gardens are great quiet place to unwind from a hectic day/ week.

One of the best places we visited whilst in Canberra. I would recommend at least two hours to see the gardens and all that it offers.

The Mount Ainslie Lookout in Canberra offers a paved observation deck with panoramic vistas and information plaques detailing distant landmarks. From this iconic viewpoint, visitors can enjoy wonderful views of the capital city and surrounding areas, including main landmarks such as the War Memorial, ANZAC Parade, Old Parliament House, and the striking architecture of Parliament House. While there are no public toilets available at the site, it is just a one-minute walk from the carpark.
Went on the first week of September. Weather was nice. Completed the 3.4 km loop. Trail was mostly through the woods. Moderate difficulty. Didn't come across any snakes. Spotted few Kangaroos on the top. The summit got a nice view of the whole Canberra city. Worth the walk. Ample parking.

Stunning view from the lookout, it’s like you’re looking to a live map. Been here a couple of times but different time of the day and I can tell that best time is sun set, but sun rise is nice too. Your eyes will be full so don’t miss it on your trip.
Mount Ainslie was a wonderful part of our Canberra trip. The drive up was easy, and the view from the lookout was spectacular. We went in September, and the clear weather made for a perfect panorama of the city and Lake Burley Griffin. It was a great time to be with friends and take in the beautiful scenery. Highly recommend this spot for an unforgettable view!

First and foremost recommended place to visit in Canberra. Gives you a great view of all the suburbs in one spot. Perfect spot for sunset and sunrise view.
Great view of the city from up here, waited for the sunset & definitely worth it. Seen rabbits running around in the bushes. Been to Canberra few times but first time here, must to do when visiting Canberra.

I go here each and every ANZAC Day dawn service and take a photo from the lookout of the beautiful sunrise over Canberra. The weather, conditions and exact time casts a completely different scene over the Capital each year.
Highly recommend to go check out a sunrise here if you can!

It offers a relaxed atmosphere with music, making it a popular spot for both students and locals. The menu features good meals, including specials that change frequently, and there are plenty of drink options to choose from. With ample seating inside and outside, guests can enjoy their food and drinks while taking in the vibrant surroundings. Additionally, live music adds to the overall experience.
I have dinner here once a week, and it is always impressive. The service is quick, the quality of food is very high and every now and you will get surprised with a happy hour or Bachata/Salsa dancing.
It is centrally located and there is car parking not too far away.

Best pub on campus with incredible ambience.
I’ve gotten coffee here multiple times and was never disappointed.
In terms of food, I was definitely dissatisfied with the quality because we ordered a pizza that looked like it came right out of the freezer and was incredibly dry.
The sweet potato fries were somewhat better, even though they were quite dry too.
Nevertheless, as someone who doesn’t drink alcohol, this is still a great spot for a catchup or a simple coffee chat in my opinion because it has superb interiors and occasionally hosts themed nights too - like trivia and live music :)
Badger & Co are a good and lively pub inside the ANU campus but attracts a lot of people from outside the university mainly for their good value for money good and drinks. It's also got a great atmosphere and is often busy. The tacos, chicken parmi and steak were all received well and tasted good. Definitely worth trying this place for casual lunch and dinner. Have been here maybe 20 times over the years, and it was always great.
This last visit though — what a letdown. Ordered a pub schnitty, and it was clearly a frozen, pre-packaged one. No care or effort put in.
To top it off, amy beer came out with stuff floating in it — it actually made it to the table before staff noticed and snatched it away after I had already taken a sip.
What happened? Change of ownership maybe?

A great place to hang out for students on campus. Always a good atmosphere and lots of clubs running cool events. I will say though, I feel like the quality of the food has decreased - the chicken burger I had today was disappointing. Been coming here since 2022 and I remember it being a lot better. Most of the staff are lovely but there are one or two that could learn a few customer service skills.
I made the mistake of ordering the "Bratwurst with Potato Salad" from the specials board. I was a naïve fool to assume that the potato salad would have greens, while it turned out to be but a pile of boiled potatoes. Can't believe this simple dish took so much longer than a the colourful chicken schnitzel of the next table. Don't repeat my mistake, and only order from their regular menu!
Excellent pub. VB on draft for only $12 a pint. Great location and atmosphere. 808 State and The Beloved playing on the audio system. Awesome.

There are Good meals, including some specials, friendly service and good drinks options. The Specials board changes frequently.
Plenty of seating inside and out.
There is live music at times.
Parking is available in Kambri's underground carpark as well as on surface across the creek.

Capitol Bar & Grill Restaurant is a chic and stylish dining spot located in Hotel Hotel. The restaurant offers a modern Australian menu designed for sharing, featuring local and seasonal produce. With an industrial-chic ambiance, the restaurant boasts four separate spaces including the lounge, mosaic room, the salon, and dining rooms. The menu includes dishes like clams with chorizo and samphire, pressed ham hock with celeriac and apple, as well as poached quince with yogurt sorbet.
Came down to Canberra a few weeks ago and had our date night dinner here and what an amazing find! Our server firstly was still in training and he let us know however if he didn’t tell us we would of had no clue, he was in the ball, checking in with us, making sure we had everything we needed but also, more importantly doing it with a massive smile. The steak was to die for, the cocktails were nice, and the mash & gravy was an all time favourite! We could not fault a single part of our night. The prices matched the quality of the food too which is an all time bonus. We spend about $250 all together for the two of us however we did get a whole bottle of wine as well as a cocktail each. 100% worth the price!! and would recommend to anyone visiting!

Visited yesterday evening for the International Women's Day Dinner, celebrating Women in Wine. The venue was incredibly accessible with a modern ambience. Mr Agrawal, as Director of Food and Beverage, ensured meticulous attention was paid to the delicious food and drinks provided.
All staff were particularly attentive and very knowledgeable about everything we enjoyed! 😀
I have stayed at the QT Canberra across the years. Most recently, Mr Hollow has been ensuring the standard is very high for the quality of service, and he should be commended for his management.

Our meal was one of the best we have ever had, it was perfectly cooked and absolutely delicious. The staff were friendly and attentive. It was the perfect experience for my husbands birthday, we will definitely be back.
We had a really lovely Father’s Day lunch here. The food was excellent, great wine and fantastic service. The staff were very accommodating to our son & it was a wonderful experience! Highly recommend!

Had dinner here as a solo traveller. Got minute steak. Very very disappointing. Tasteless, lacking sides and not hot. Not recommended.
Had dinner here around mid May 2022 which was a very disappointing and led me to give some scathing feedback - mostly to do with the service and how a legitimate complaint about the food was poorly handled. However, I must commend the management, particularly Desiree, for their sincere response. They were gracious in acknowledging the faults and took my feedback on board. They were very accommodating to my partner and I, whom they invited to return for dinner and try their revamped menu. I must say our experience compared to the first time was like night and day.. We went on a Tuesday night and even then it was buzzing. Good if you like that kind of atmosphere but probably not the best if you want a quiet, peaceful chat. Anyway our host Jun was superb, providing us with a personal selection of dishes and drink pairings. The food came out promptly and the quality was exquisite. The scallops and king prawns for entrée were vibrant and delicious and the lamb and rib eye for mains were so flavourful and just melts in your mouth. Also the bombe Alaska dessert was...the bomb! Definitely changed our original impression and we had an great night. Thanks for the great service Desiree and Jun :)
Stayed the night at qt visiting relatives, took my parents to the restaurant that night as I forgot to book a restaurant.
Manager Jun on duty was great and accomadating for the last minute reservation.
Food was great, highlight on the steak that would usually cost alot more then it is at other restaurants I have been too. Albeit still on the higher end pricing of hotel restaurants (we did order a few bottles of wine too) its also a lot nicer with better vibes than most.
Would definately recommend, not sure why people are referencing it to a pub when its not what its aimed to be.
Friendly staff at the time, tried to be attentive and offered services. overall great experience!

We ordered some food to eat and it was delicious. Incredibly low price as well! The service was great overall, and me and my son and I loved how fast the food came.

Smoked Corn Beef hash on two pieces of toast, mustard & pickles. Magnificent.

I haven’t visited in a while due to being busy, but the coffee is still delicious and the atmosphere is wonderful.
Sadly have to downgrade my rating/review, my coffee order got lost on three separate occasions recently. Maybe I’m cursed? Food is still amazing and the coffee is good!

In find the food very interesting. We got mushroom & egg toasties which was topped with Asian Chilli oil. We also got cheese toasties with Indian curry in the middle.

Only sell small size cup for $6, then only 2/3 full so you are essentially paying more for less. Complete rip off and incredibly slow service for a takeaway coffee. Will not be returning. Nice flavour but expect more than 3 mouthfuls

This casual counter-serve joint has outdoor tables, so you can enjoy your meal while seated. There are also several vegetarian options available, as well as gluten free options. The staff are friendly and funny if you give them a break – this is a very busy place!
Saw one review said this shop did better than many kebab shops in Sydney, so I was wondering if it was true. Ordered a chicken kebab, turned out the best one I’ve had so far in Australia (most of them were not that good compared to these in Europe). And it was huge.

Visited twice 8months ago. Loved it.
Got out large about 1:30pm. Chips were fresh out of the fryer but 5 mins down the road at the lake, everything was lukewarm warm. My son said the meat is cold. I’m assuming the meat had been sitting a while and wasn’t kept warm enough.
Too bad. Taste was good but when the meat was cold it was very disappointing.
Used to be my favorite Turkish takeaway restaurant in Canberra. But what I had today is definitely sub-par if not utterly disappointing. Meat is way too salty and sauce isn’t enough.
I knew they had a change of ownership two years ago and allegedly the original recipe was gone. But at least you can add less salt mate.
You should visit this 5 star review restaurant! The food was amazing, we ordered one pide, large HSP, and a kebab. The pide's size was unpredictable it was enormous, the HSP was amazing and the box was full, the kebab was so heavy, taste amazing. The staffs was so kind, the atmosphere was nice. Absolutely fantastic 👍
Extremely disappointed with my experience.
The food felt like scraps, kebabs were burnt and falling apart.. almost seemed like they tossed them into the container, the pide was undercooked, and the dips barely filled a third of the container. Definitely not worth the price.
You guys made profit out of my delivery note as I mentioned extra potatoes and veggies can be taken out if needed but you took out all the veggies from the pide and only put 6-7 potatoes in which pide! Do you think that is acceptable. There was heaps of spinach in my pide but no potatoes as I requested and veggies were gone after you saw my note on my order! I made that note you should not loose money by putting extra potatoes in my pide but you guys disappointed. More than half of my pide was in bin straight away because you guys won’t refund or re deliver because according to you pide was fine with potatoes you put in that! Never gonna order again and this review isn’t to defame your shop but to warn other customers! I wish I could upload some photos of the pide from the bin for you!

This place was good about 10 years ago.
Looking for a late lunch when other cafes were shut, Yarra House Halal in Yarralumla was open and from the number of happy customers we saw it looked good. Ordered 2 mixed meat kebabs. Wow, what a huge, succulent surprise! Loads of fresh salad, delicious sauce, loads of shredded roast chicken and tasty lamb all wrapped up in a very good flat pita bread. We have several favourite kebab makers in Melbourne but this one is by far the best ever. Going back for more! Well done Yarra House Halal. 10/10, 👏👍😋
