We stopped by for an early dinner and was pleasantly surprised by the extensive selection of food. The restaurant was quite busy. Our server was quick to present the available options and had a good command of English. We chose to take our meal to go rather than eat in. Once we made our choices, the food was packed up swiftly. The flavors were excellent, although I would have liked it to be a touch spicier. In summary, I highly recommend this place.

The food is good and clean. We came during peak hour and were served pretty fast. Only the portions of fish, especially the Jumbo prawn is not enough (only 1 shrimp - which I think is little for the price) but the rice portions are great The juices are good. I believe they should add ice in them to make them more fresh! The service is good only I would recommend having a bill printed out, cause counting with a calculator can lead to mistakes both from the clients & the management. Would come back! :) (they have free wifi)

This restaurant is not what it used to be. I have been coming here with groups for many years. Today I was here with 17 people. It took about two hours for most of the orders to arrive, but two of my guests had to wait even longer. The portions have become smaller. The waiters did their best and were friendly, but they cannot compensate for the wrong concept of the restaurant. Some dishes still taste good, but overall satisfaction is much lower than in the past. We received no compensation. It’s a pity — I am now looking for alternatives for my groups.

Nice! Although it was our first day and we haven’t tried many local dishes, we like what we have eaten. Food was clean and tasty and we do recommend here for customers searching to try something local. They have good amount of options in their menu including vegetarian. The atmosphere was nice, it is one of the nicest buildings around this area. We recommend you to not waste you time by waiting in the line to order. Waiters are all around and their menu includes prices. Rose was helping us during our visit and she was kind and attentive. Although the restaurant being busy at the period we have visited, the service was really fast.

Lukmaan is one of the best local restaurants. A wide selection of local specialties, fresh seafood, and freshly squeezed smoothies. The meat is grilled on-site, and they also serve shawarma. The waiters and staff are very friendly. They're very happy when you come often and regularly. And they know you by name. I was there almost every day for the two weeks I was there. We went there on our last day in Stone Town with our guide and the food was very good and quickly made. It like some cantina and you can see chefs cooking. They offer a lot of different mostly traditional food. The waiter was very helpfull and he show us every item that they have so we could decide easier. They have a nice terace and a lot of people, also a lot of turists and also some cats that are waiting for your food haha. Everything was good but for some reason more expenisve then we tought.

I liked this place🥰🥰 …the fact that it is in a very good spot👍….the aesthetics are good….the food is also good and tasty….good for Swahili cuisine…..the services were good…the waitress and waiters were so kind and providing top notch service…..the food was also so tasty…..I would highly recommend this restaurant if you are around Zanzibar ✨🤍………………

The tour of the spice farm was incredible! We saw someone climbing up the coconut tree, and it was so wholesome. Lunch cooked with the spices from the farm was really delicious 😋 I would go back for that lunch!

Lovely place to discover more about food especially spices and fruits. Cloves, ginger, turmeric, black and white pepper, nutmeg, lychee were some of the spices.on the farm. Coconuts, oranges, bananas, water melon, pineapple, star fruit and many others were grown. It was a food learning experience. Staff were friendly and our guide was very knowledgeable. Good outing.

The smells in this place are wonderful! Spices native to the island and for very reasonable prices too. This is a great place to visit for a quick walk through when in Zanzibar. Everything is negotiable too.

Nice to have experienced the market, but it was too much for me. Local sellers were all over me all the time to try to make me buy something.

Lovely coffeehouse with a great view. You can sit downstairs in a cozy atmosphere or go upstairs for a beautiful city view. The staff were very welcoming and friendly. We tried carrot cake, and iced latte. The iced latte is more like coffee with cold milk than the proper ice latte, but overall it was a nice experience, especially for the view.

Interesting, but typical Zanzibar interior; there is practically no choice of coffee, just a pre-blended mix of Arabica and Robusta.врождённое. Very strong coffee. It's surprising that a company that has its own production of finished products cannot pay attention to customers, show respect and make a choice of coffee.

Highly recommend the spice coffee and vanilla latte. Extremely cool rooftop seating area, get a number from the counter, take it upstairs, you get a recite there and take it downstairs to pay. Very unique experience 👌🏽

We stayed here at the beginning of our Zanzibar trip for two nights and were so sad to leave! From the moment we arrived, we were introduced to the lovely staff and a welcome drink who made us feel at home and get our bearings. We had the Arabica room, which was absolutely stunning. The delicious breakfast from the rooftop offers beautiful views of Stone Town, an amazing start to your day. Highly recommend!

Zanzibar Coffee House is a must-visit in Stone Town. The coffee is absolutely beautiful, rich, smooth, and full of flavor. The building itself is stunning: classic, traditional, and full of charm, with beautiful architecture that makes you feel like you’ve stepped back in time. If you’re visiting Stone Town and only have time for five spots, this should definitely be one of them. A peaceful and authentic place to unwind with a great cup. I ordered the Americano, and we had a cake and an affogato. All very very good! It is a hotel and cafe.

Overall very clean and quiet spot with good coffee and breakfast. Got the breakfast special with fresh fruit, museli and Spanish omelette. Everything was very good. Fruit is perfectly ripe. Passion fruit juice is amazing. For coffee i got a flat white. 4/5

Coffee is fantastic and the views from the top of the tower! Spice black coffee, macchiato, marocchino, and cappuccino were a pleasant relief from the endless instant coffee serviced a breakfast is this country.

I don't get the stone town hype, glad I didn't pay for a tour of sorts, have my own car (parking secure is 2000 Shillings) And why do people think this 'bazaar' is so cool? Nice place to visit, there is so many wonder about the people there and things, only place where you can see some rarely spices which only available in Zanzibar, kindness and hospitality of the people of Zanzibar.. You can experience so much and enjoying your trip when you go to Darajani Bazaar...

One of the city green markets in Stone Town, Zanzibar. You can buy great fruits here, and other stuff you might or might not need. Like other places in Stone Town, you ought to be mindful of the prices, as bargaining is a way of life here. Itbis useful to learn a few Kuswahili words, you might save yourself a lot of Shilingi... Recommendation: red bananas!

The local market is interesting, but there are strong smells in the meat and fish area.

A great place to visit, very cheap products.

Smells ruddy awful in the heat, flies everywhere. The fisherman sit or stand amongst their fish which may be perfectly reasonable behaviour here, I don't know. But it looks disgusting. On the opposite side is the spice market, every stall sells the same. They hassle you so much. It's extremely busy. Watch your pockets, bags and children - I would recommend wrist straps for them actually. Even with our local guide it was horrid.

Disturbing but an eye opening experience, mixed feelings flooded my heart. The place has a dimm aura but still worth a visit. We can't escape the horrible things we (collectively) have been doing to our fellow humans throughout history 😒

This is split into three parts really. The first is a visit inside the Anglican church, which is very beautiful and built around the old "Whipping Post". The church is still in use now and has a beautiful pipe organ (only 1 of 2 in Africa) - there's only one man on the island that knows how to play it so it'll be an unfortunate day when he's no longer able. Moving on from the church there is a monument in memory of the slave trade, which is quite touching and certainly brings your own struggles etc into sharp relief. The monument actually uses some of the original 200 year old chains that bound the slaves on this site. Indoors you go downstairs to the two rooms where they kept the men (approximately 50 in one room) and the women/children (75 in one room). There are small slits in the walls acting as a light and air source. The ceilings are too low to stand up straight. Upstairs there is quite a lot of information to read through on large boards about the slave trade, it's abolition and some real life personal histories. There's a very sombre feel to the place and I felt a little apprehensive moving around the site. It costs 5 USD per person to enter, we already had a guide for the day who came in with us but there are also volunteers on site that will guide you round. There are clean bathrooms available. A small primary school sits on the edge of the grounds and they are very welcoming to visitors and want to show off their work.

The Slave Museum undoubtedly carries strong historical significance, but the overall experience was rather disappointing. Apart from the original chains that were once used and the cellar where up to 75 prisoners were held for two days, there isn’t much else to see. The $10 entrance fee did not reflect the value of the visit. If you are truly interested in the history, you will likely learn much more about it online than in the museum itself.

USD5 entry fee in cash or shelling. There are volunteer guides (you gave them tips at the end) that will explain you the history and meaning of the monuments and the places. Worthy! The visit will not cover more than 2 hours maximum, with the guide are 30mins.

Definitely come to see this museum. We only need about 20 minutes. In the museum instead but I got one anyway and you just tip them . I came on a friesat after lunch wasn’t too busy

We visited this place during our tour of Stone Town, and I must say it is a true historical must-see. During the day it's just another beach front walk, but night you get to watch the sunset, and the area transforms into a food market. Try the shawarma stalls, cheap and well worth the money. We really liked the guy asking chicken tikka shawarma. The guys selling mixture of meat and fish stick are more expensive.

Not really worth the visit, fortunately it's free. There's a story behind the fort's construction, extensions etc which is of minor interest. A few market stalls are set up inside the grounds which don't actually hassle too much. It's all just fairly quiet. Lots of rubbish and rubble strewn around and the remains of a large fire. But this isn't really that different to most villages I've seen on the island.

From here, you can spot large ships, ferries, and container vessels gracefully moving across the turquoise water a perfect blend of history meeting modern trade. As the sun sets, Stone Town transforms into a lively scene with its night market. The air fills with the aroma of freshly prepared street food seafood, grilled meat, and local treats. One drink I particularly enjoyed was a refreshing sugarcane juice mixed with ice, made fresh by local vendors. Stone Town is more than just a historic site; it’s a place that combines culture, ocean views, architecture, and authentic street life. Whether you’re exploring during the day or enjoying the lively evenings, it’s a spot that captures the true essence of Zanzibar historic, vibrant, and full of character.

Because we really want to eat crabs, we went to this Indian restaurant asked for crab dish. The boss said that we will prepare the fresh crab for you tomorrow. We feel quite unsure whether it will be delicious or not. After eating it, it is the heaven! The taste and the sauce is fantastic! The crab is extremely fresh. It can be the most delicious sauce crab I have tried ever. Highly recommend! Although lucmann is very famous but they didn’t sell crabs. If you want to try crabs and love Indian curry, you must try this special dish! You need to order one day before. The naan is also terrific.

Among the best Indian food I've had. Tastes like a hybrid of the best of Rajasthan with its own unique Zanzibari flavor. Probably the most perfect level of spice that comes out of the kitchen, where it's heat that opens your tongue to flavour but doesn't overwhelm. It's a must visit. The staff and owner put their heart into their work.

Without a doubt the best food in Stone Town. After trying numerous places in the town which were all very disappointing I wish I had discovered Ma Shaa Allah Cafe sooner. Top quality, fresh seafood all cooked to order with plenty of flavour and authentic spices. The curries and chilli prawn are stand out dishes. Service is friendly and very attentive. Highly recommend.

Amazing place for the best indian food in Zanzibar. And very affordable. The owner Yaseer, born and brought up in Zanzibar is wonderful and so is the food. We had a very interesting chat while the food was being prepared. Being an Indian I am choosy of the meal i eat, especially indian cuisine, but hands down I can vouch that this is the best restaurant in Zanzibar and one of the best biriyanis and butter chicken i had in my life. Will visit again for sure. Thank you for the jovial chat and delicious meal.

If the idea of staying in a castle appeals to you then you will love this place. Like stepping back in time. We stayed in the Violeta room and then they gave us a day room (their newest room) on our flight day. Both were gorgeous.This was a very cool experience. Grandiose, 20 foot high rooms, grand colours, painting, balconies…simply amazing. Russell the manager is your consummate host. He could not be better at his job… outstanding! Do not miss out on the tasting menu, 7 course meal on the rooftop. Best meal we had in Africa. Gracious, helpful staff. Highly recommend !!

Kind of fancy restaurant. Delicious 5 course meal, super interesting dishes. Food was really good, delicious and fresh. Waiters are super friendly. We really enjoyed the food and view from up there Have to take several steps though.

We ate in the Secret Garden today, our waiter Masoud was amazing! So attentive and helpful, it was a pleasure to be served by him. Setting was amazing and the recommendation of goat Bryani was perfect, absolutely delicious. To end our evening we had the pleasure of Wakili to walk us home through the dark souks which was a godsend and enabled us to enjoy our meal even more!! Top food, top setting, top service, highly recommend

It is truly one of the most beautiful experiences in my life. The place is very beautiful, with an old-fashioned style. The rooms are very spacious and the hospitality is truly wonderful, starting from the welcoming drink to the delicious seasonal fruit plate. My wife and I had an amazing few days at this beautiful hotel. You are virtually transported back into the 1920’s with decorations, beautiful patio, spacious room (Kate), amazingly welcoming and helpful staff and a wonderful owner who made us feel so at welcome (Russell). My only complaint, would be the stairs…but it was good for a little exercise so not so bad. Highly recommended if you want to enjoy your stay in Stonetown and soak in the sounds and rich history and culture of Zanzibar…

Wonderful hotel that has worked hard to maintain the feel of Stone Town during the height of the spice trade and its Arab roots. Unique and interesting rooms, wonderful restaurants, incredible staff. Our room was on the top floor, as is the restaurant, with no elevators. worth the hike but not doable for everyone.

We stayed 1 night at the Emerson Spice hotel but wish we stayed for longer. It was a fantastic hotel full of character and the owner, Russell, made us feel very welcome. The breakfast was very good as well which included fresh doughnuts and jam. Great location as well, right in the heart of Stone Town.

The food is really good and we enjoyed it here. The taste was really the best. Great ambiance and the open place is so good. This restaurant is located near the beach and very easy access to the beach. Do try this place for some great Indian food. Paneer tikka was really outstanding. Overall a good experience.

This was my first visit to Monsoon in 13 years, and was I as impressed and hugely satisfied as I was all those years before! Stepping in to this beautiful venue, one is lulled back into what could be described as "the heart and essence of Zanzibar and its People". The live music was just perfect! Service is excellent! The menu offered a great selection of items, catering for all preferences. Our selection of mains, a variety of sea foods, was perfectly prepared and I am at a loss of words to describe just how intensely delicious and fresh the meals were! Thank you for creating a perfect memory of an evening well spent! We have already recommended Monsoon to many!

I walked in for my first meal in Zanzibar, following a recommendation from a friend. I did not get to experience taraab music because I came too early but the food was very entertaining, offering a great variety of flavours on one plate. It was, however, pricier and did not provide a wow factor as in other locations.

We enjoyed our stay. Staff were friendly, polite and always willing to assist. Special mention to the Food and Beverage servers, in particular Denys and Hasnuu Ishak. They really know the true meaning of what customer service is all about and every time went over and beyond when serving us. Great hotel with all the amenities you could expect. Stayed only 2 nights but was quite comfortable. Three swimming pools were quite useful as I don't like crowds. Food and drinks were very affordable. The two of us had 2 lunches, a dinner, drinks a few times and some laundry done for $106. Quite an eyeopener. Food was excellent and the buffet breakfast was appreciated. Would recommend this hotel for singles or couples. Not much to do away from the hotel.

This is a beautiful old hotel 😍 with a lot of history, some good, some bad. Our room was huge with a beautiful bathroom and good air con, and comfortable bed. Nicely renovated and you can still see the age by hew perfectly and beautifully the stairs are worn from 150+years of use. It was a really beautiful hotel 😍.

We stayed for 4 nights in September 2025 at a Tembo Apartment, which was about a 2-minute walk to the main hotel but we didn't mind it. What can I say about this hotel, everything was great, from the aesthetics to the location to the cleanliness to the service... It's within walking distance from many restaurants, the market, and Freddie Mercury Museum, which we loved. They even gave us a tour of Freddie's house, which is now an apartment rented by the hotel. The staff is professional and always smiling. A big thank you to Mr. Mohammad (Manager) for booking us tours tailored to our needs. We enjoyed speaking Arabic with you as well! An absolutely beautiful hotel. Right on the beach and just a few minutes walk to some amazing historical sites. The staff are incredibly friendly and helpful. As I first time traveller, I couldn’t have been in better hands.

Great hotel. We booked triple room, they were great. Big beds, lots of space, very clean and great bathroom. We were in an adjacent building, 50 meters away, very easy and beautiful. The main building is superb with three amazing pools and a wonderful view and access to the beach. Breakfast was perfect, a big buffet with everything.

Great experience to stay in the building where Freddie lived for his first years. The building - part of the Tembo hotel - is a great place to stay. Clean, large rooms, fridge, in the heart of Stone Town. Breakfast, pool at the seaside - those facilities are across the street within the Tembo complex. The only negative scoring is for the traffic noises which might keep you awake for a certain time throughout the night.

Visited the museum and was very enjoyable, and affordable to visit. It is a small museum packed with photos and memorabilia… sadly no souvenirs were available but worth while visiting

Freddie Mercury's house is located in stone town. It's decorated outside with photos of the legend. Just next to it you will find the show must go on museum. It opens at 10 AM and closes at 6 PM. The entrance was 8 dollars.

Meh. Freddie's house is now a hotel and only guests are allowed inside. The museum, next to the house is 8USD per person but has nothing to offer. You might get nostalgic for the artist and buy a ticket for the museum, but it's not worth it at all. Can avoid completely.

The places has a lot history and photos of Freddie Mercury but I think they could do more because it’s very small. You pay 8 dollars for the entrance. If you are a very big fan of Mercury, I recommend it.

This museum is very very small, and it's mostly photographs of Zanzibar and then of Freddie's life. The museum is in the bottom floor of a building where Freddie lived (Freddie lived on the top floor and you do not have access to that).

Entrance is for 8 USD for adults. Museum closes 6pm Cool and nice collection of pics and customes. Favorite part was the hand written lyrics. You won't need more than 30 mins in the museum.

There are very few exhibits, and you can't feel Freddie Mercury's aura at all. This is not a museum

Of course almost everyone visits this museum, it’s unfortunately very small and overpriced (8 USD). After introducing the island of Zanzibar in the first stage of the museum there’s a documentation of the life of FM. It’s a bit sad that at the end of the (small) museum there’s not a proper farewell given to this extraordinary person, not mentioned when, how and where he spent his final days.

Small but cute. The most exciting was the original piano, childhood pictures and hand written song texts.

This is an absolute dud — this “museum” is little more than a small room with a few printouts including quotes from family and friends and lacking a factual depiction of Mercury’s life (without an honest farewell to his life and legacy). I recommend taking a photo in front of the home and moving on with your day.

I spent more time here than I should i should have because of the air conditioning! It’s a beautiful shop where you can get all the souvenirs you need. From footwear, accessories, clothes etc. the prices are on the high side but they are also better quality than on the beach. I got some beautiful masai sandals and fridge magnets

The best of everything under one roof, fully air conditioned and had toilets too. The prices are good and you could find something for every budget. Loved this shop, highly recommend, bought some beautiful tanzanite and gold earrings for my mother which they provided a certificate for and staff were very helpful. Also a nice selection of clothes, hats and a huge selection of scarves! I also bought coconut oils and some spices too take home

One of the best places to visit if you want to get done with your souvenir shopping. You have all kinds of stuff under one roof. From fridge magnets to cloths to statues to paintings, everything can be purchased here for reasonable prices. Tanzanite stones are also available here. The staff is friendly and helpful as well. Accepts cash and card payments in USD which is great for tourists.

Got a lovely memory piece. No bartering, so price tag is what you pay. They have some very nice bits and pieces.

They have some unique stuff (like this wine lion 😉) but most of them you can get cheaper in other shops. If you want to grab some last minute souvenirs I’d recommend here because it’s tidy, no need to bargain as everything is maked at fixed price, and no surcharge for card payment.

It's got quite an assortment of souvenirs. However, comparatively, things may be overpriced in here. Nonetheless, you are assured that whatever you get will be good and original.

I made it just in time before a heavy rain poured over Stone Town for an hour. This Sunday also came with a scheduled power cut until 2 p.m., but Stone Town Café was prepared—its generator kicked in without a fuss. So I spent a quiet morning there, sipping coffee and reading, while the rain fell steadily outside.

I had a hibiscus tea (which was delicious) and a steak sandwich which had good flavor but the meat was difficult to bite into. The sticky date pudding was also delicious. If you don't know, there are cats everywhere in Zanzibar, and the staff does their best to shoo them away while you're eating.

The bread in Tanzania is cakey so not cafe’s thing. Avocado toad was nice but don’t expect slices more a spread . Coffee pot is amazing .locwtion central, shaded and wifi is great. Traveller hotspot

I went for breakfast and eggs were not what I asked for. The wait first for the food and then for the check was incredibly long. I won’t be going back.

its ok. just very bland iced coffee and also ok food! come for breakfast but if u want strong coffee, go somewhere else. my coffee is so bland...😅

Went there just to try the Octopus Curry and it was simply delicious. Also the service was good. Definitely recommend this place.

A good spot if you're craving Asian cuisine. We tried the sushi and the beef stir-fried noodles — it was good, not exceptional, but definitely fair for the price. Getting there can be a bit confusing: you have to enter a building and go upstairs to find the restaurant. But once inside, the setting is pleasant, with a view over a lively little street that adds a nice atmosphere to the meal.

This place had the little escape feeling from the Shangani street hustle and bustle. Such a cozy spot with amazing Japanese food and a chill vibe! Watching the street below was a laid-back moment 🙌 Had Sushi, Tempura and Beef fried Dumplings 😋 every bite was a treat!

We had a lovely dinner here in Sept 25. Delicious tempura, lovely dumplings and fabulous noodles. A Japanese chef combined with delightful service from local staff make this a place to visit for a delicious lunch or dinner. Good range of drinks including yummy cocktails and all at reasonable prices. Highly recommended!

Beelined it for this place our first night in Zanzibar as I had a serious sushi craving, and it did not disappoint! Honestly one of the best sushi experiences we’ve ever had! Everything was fresh and delicious and the service was fantastic! Highly recommend to anyone in stone town looking for some tasty Japanese food :)

One of the best meals we’ve had in all of Zanzibar. The Japanese chef is truly gifted. His team is wonderful and charming and excellent service - and with a quick smile and great senses of humor, too. Really, we spent several hours lingering because the atmosphere is so welcoming and comfortable, the service is exceptional, and the food delicious. And it’s very well priced for the quality and the taste and the portion size. Gratitude to the entire team for a wonderful meal and exceptional experience. Cannot wait to return soon!

We had the best time at Masa! The best restaurant in Zanzibar! Food was amazing and service was quick and wonderful. We came back 2 times after finding it as the food was delicious and we wanted to try more wonderful dishes.

There is a large dining area overlooking the beach, with both indoor and outdoor seating. The breakfast buffet was just average, but the staff were nice. There are men that stand on the beach trying to sell you stuff while you eat, and it was annoying and really killed the vibe. They stand behind a rope but they definitely yell and try to get your attention.

Quite literally a museum with profound historical insights... The infinity pool facing the ocean is amazing. plus the cafe is open 24/7 which is a great plus.I highly recommend it

This restaurant does not match the hotel. It was bad, simply not good. The first thing I noticed was that the napkins were made of paper, and there was a container on the table (see picture) with paper napkins like in an American diner. Then, I was served my Coca-Cola in a shabby plastic bottle (see picture). When it came to the food, my companion was served their appetizer, but mine was forgotten. When the waitress brought my main course while my companion was still having their appetizer and was actively eating, it became clear that they had indeed forgotten my appetizer. Then we moved on to the main course. My meat was completely overcooked, and you could tell that my food had come from the microwave because it had been ready for about 20 minutes earlier. The ambiance wasn’t great either. After about half an hour, two musicians arrived with violins, which seemed like a good idea, but it turned out they missed half the notes and even covered pop songs, like "My Heart Will Go On," unfortunately badly. For those happy with burgers and pizza, it might be a fit.

Excellent service, food is good. The decorations are lovely, right on the beach with gorgeous sunset point.

Service was okay, but the seafood platter was not nice at all. Small and not tasty with lots of vegetables that we did not ask for and to make it look big. No alcoholic beverages served. Juice and view of beach were nice.

We had only a few coffees here, on the terrace with the beach in front of us and a nice breeze. The five stars are for the location. Service or price were not remarkable.

Only go if you want something random you haven't ordered and rude service and long waiting hours...first i ordered my food and drinks at the same time, after finally being able to get our order taken after we waited for a while. I ordered an ice tea to drink which was given to me lukewarm after almost an hour, since the waiter had forgotten it. Then we got our food, which we had ordered two chicken alfredo pasta, but what we were served was instead some curry chicken pasta. Immediately we asked the waiter when he put down our plate, and he said he would check with the kitchen. 10 minutes later he hadn't returned but took other people's orders instead. When we asked him again, he said, he forgot, but he would ask them. We couldn't get a hold of any waiter to send our food back, and since we had been at the restaurant for nearly 1,5 hours at that point, my friend ate her pasta. Another 20 minutes went by without being helped, until we finally got a hold of him again and he said he would check. He returned again with a collegue and insited that the pasta was correct, since it was the correct shape - even though we told him many times, that it was the sauce? Then they blamed the waiting time on eid preparations, which is fair, but i don't see how it being eid would make the chef start putting curry in random dishes? They insisted it was correct and that it is just what they call alfredo pasta, but nowhere on the menu did it say curry nor does alfredo have curry in it? When we said we didn't want it, because it was not what we ordered, they were rude and took our plates. The waiter came back with our bill including both pastas, even though i hadn't even eaten mine, and then disappered so we were left waiting once again. Ended up getting one of them removed, but the whole experience was very unpleasent, and they didn't seem to understand nor care, why we were upset, that we didn't get, what we had ordered. The photos are what chicken alfredo is supposed to be vs what we were served :)

Super nice little restaurant! Delicious food for a very friendly price, compared to other restaurants around. Burgers, wraps, curry, ,++ and great fresh juice. Try the ginger soda! The people working there are friendly and welcoming. If you want to get away from the typical tourist places, this is the place!

Our preferred restaurant in Stone Town, offering succulent food for unbeatable prices (4 people for under 70k Tsh). Curries are tasty, fishburgers attractive and the selection of wraps is quite creative. Fruit juices can be mixed to your taste. Service super friendly while a bit slow because it takes time to make good food from scratch. About 15 seats but we never saw more than 2 tables occupied. A bit hidden in a side street back the Dolphin but worth looking for it!

Had Curried Chickpeas here for lunch and the dish was phenomenal and very flavorful. It did take about 20-25 minutes to prepare as they make it fresh to order, but the wait was worth it. This place accepts cash only, though US dollars are also accepted at a fair exchange.

So let’s start off - YOU ARE GOING TO HAVE TO WAIT. There are too many bad reviews of the wait time. Get over it people. The reviews all say this, suck it up you’re on vacation - Hakuna Matata and Pole Pole. Wait time was 45 min from sitting to getting the food. They actually were missing ingredients and went out and bought it but apologized for the delay. They only take cash but they will walk with you over to a local Cambio or a place for credit card (with a small fee). The place and the location does look a bit sketchy but the people running it are very very nice, it is super safe so don’t judge a book by its cover. The drinks were great and very fresh. Like I said they went out and bought some of the ingredients instead of saying, “oh we don’t have it.” The fish burger was tasty. My daughter had the fish and chips which was a hit small but just right for lunch and the curry was flavorful. It is not Michelin star but it is very good. The prices really show how much all the other places overcharge. Lunch for 3 is less than 45,000ksh. You can’t even get a burger at the Hyatt for that :). So 1) pole pole - it will take time 2) the place is bare bones 3) the food is good and fresh 4) the price makes you wonder why everything else is so expensive

Rustic café, seats max 15. Been there a couple times for something small (wrap, burger) and it kind of hits the spot if you're a tourist and hankering for something a bit like home. The quality is passable. Slow service.

Honestly this place deserves more attention, it is an amazing little restaurant with fresh food geared towards healthiness. Absolutely AMAZING juices that you can create with your own mix of fruits, very good seafood (the tuna deserves a mention of honor) and very relaxed environment.

This place is really cute and just off the path of the main road with a more authentic feel. The food was delicious and the people friendly. If you are in a hurry let them know as the food can take a while to arrive. We ordered the spiced ice tea and spiced ice coffee, coconut curry and sweet n sour prawns. Would recommend all! 10% student and volunteer discount, No wifi, and bathroom next door at Stonetown Cafe.
