This place is a real find. As a vegetarian who doesn't drink and eats a low-carb diet, I wouldn't normally be looking for a meal in a pub or bar. But I was really hungry and every other restaurant I passed which served lunch offered mostly just pizza and pasta options for vegetarians. I was immediately attracted by TJ's Portobello Fries, which turned out to be 5 or 6 large deep-fried Portobello mushroom wedges. They were crunchy outside, tender inside, absolutely non-greasy, and were served with a wonderful hot dipping sauce and some nice salad. I also ordered the cauliflower cheese, which was really nice: the cheese sauce was neither watery nor thick and floury as is often the case, and the cauliflower was tender but slightly al dente: really perfect. The star of the meal, though, was the side salad, which comprised several varieties of very fresh salad leaves, attractively shredded, with nicely cut chunks of yellow pepper and other veg, with a spectacularly delicious honey and mustard dressing, which is made in-house, and I will be requesting the recipe: it was THAT delicious. Everything I ate, particularly the salad, was clearly made with real care and respect for the ingredients. Too often, a side salad is just some wet and/or tired iceberg lettuce with a couple of chunks of tasteless tomato and - if you're lucky - a few slices of flabby radish. This was the best side salad I've ever eaten. Portions were very generous, and prices very reasonable. The atmosphere itself was nice and relaxed, and service - by Leigha and Jess - was welcoming, friendly, personable, warm, and sincere. It's absolutely obvious that Leigha and Jess care deeply about their customers' happiness. I went into TJ's just looking for some adequate low-carb vegetarian food, but I came away really delighted with what I'd eaten and how I'd been treated. I know where I'll be eating next time I'm in Stirling. And I'll be ordering two of those glorious salads alongside the rest of my order.
