one of the most prominent 5-star luxury resorts in Nuwara Eliya, located conveniently in the heart of "Little England." It offers a wide array of premium amenities, making it a compelling choice for travelers visiting the hill country.
The Positives: Spacious Comfort and Prime Location
The two standout qualities of this hotel are its prime location and the spaciousness of the rooms.
• Best Hotel in Nuwara Eliya (Location & Amenities): The hotel’s central location is highly advantageous, placing guests within easy walking distance of Victoria Park and a short drive from Lake Gregory. The facilities are impressive, including a food court, heated indoor pool, spa, and a shopping arcade, truly creating a resort experience.
• Big Rooms: The accommodations are exceptionally generous in size, offering far more space than typical hotel rooms in the area. The large, well-furnished rooms provide a luxurious and comfortable stay, acting as a perfect sanctuary from the chilly Nuwara Eliya weather. The inclusion of amenities like a heater and comfortable seating areas enhances the overall relaxation factor.
The Critical Drawback: Poor Soundproofing
Despite the luxurious space and excellent location, a significant comfort issue negatively impacts the stay: the poor soundproofing between rooms, particularly where connecting doors or thin walls are present.
Unfortunately, the design and construction lead to insufficient noise cancellation. Voices, television sounds, and general activity from adjacent rooms can easily be heard, disrupting privacy and sleep quality. This is a noticeable flaw that can detract severely from an otherwise perfect, high-end stay.
The Araliya Green City is undeniably a fantastic choice for its scale, services, and the excellent, large rooms it provides, placing it high among Nuwara Eliya's accommodation options.
We booked a Double Superior room at Araliya Green City, and our experience was excellent. The room was spacious, and the bathroom was great, featuring a bathtub. The room had all the necessary amenities, though a mini bar was not available.
We enjoyed the food from the food court, and everything we tried from the a la carte menu was delicious. We didn’t join the buffet but were satisfied with our choices. The pool bar was also missing, which could be a nice addition.
The crew and services were excellent, very attentive and helpful throughout our stay.
Minor suggestions: the swimming pool could be a rooftop pool with an open or transparent view to enhance the vibe, and it would be great if the room’s kitchen included more tea varieties, as we specifically look for that when visiting Nuwara Eliya.
Other than these small points, we really enjoyed our stay, and it gave us good memories.
My friend and I stayed one night in Araliya Green City hotel, in September 2025, I absolutely loved our stay in this hotel. I loved the hotel decor especially the elephant decorations such a unique and elegant touch. The staff were warm, caring and welcoming- greeted us with refreshments which was great after a long journey.
Our room was spacious and comfortable, it also had a fireplace, the staff kindly showed us how to use it. Our room had city view and a view of Buddhist temple. In our room tea/coffee was provided and there was a sitting area, where we could chill. Washroom was clean and spacious with all the amenities.
One downfall was indoor pool was under maintenance. The hotel also had a small superstore, food court, shops inside which was convenient.
Dinner had lots of variety to choose from, was delicious, had live music which made more memorable. Breakfast was good with lots of selections. We truly enjoyed our stay and would definitely come back. Highly recommend.
