We had an amazing time at Lake Gregory. The Place was so peaceful with stunning views of the lake surrounded by misty mountains. The boat rides, jet ski and bicycle ride experience were thrilling and gave us a different way to enjoy the lake. The cool climate made the whole visit refreshing, and it’s a perfect spot to relax and breathe in nature. There are plenty of nice photo spots around the lake ideal for capturing memories with friends and family. Highly recommend this place if you love nature, adventure, and beautiful scenery. Lake Gregory is one of the most beautiful and refreshing places to visit in Nuwara Eliya. Gregory Lake is a beautiful place in Nuwara Eliya, but it also has a not-so-good side. The small shops nearby sell food at very high prices, and most of them aren’t very hygienic, so it’s better to avoid eating there. Also, visiting during the peak season isn’t recommended because the traffic gets really heavy, and even the boat rides are quite expensive.

The waterfall itself is stunning, cascading from around 30 meters high into a quiet, green setting . The site is tied to a poignant local legend about a prince and a village girl who leapt from this spot to be together forever, which adds a layer of history and mystery to the visit . The path is relatively easy, but I'd recommend wearing comfortable shoes with good grip as it can be uneven and slippery, especially after rain . It's a great stop to enjoy nature, take in the views, and capture some beautiful photos away from the busier town centers . The best time to visit is in the morning or early afternoon for clear weather.

Awesome spot. The walk is slightly hard so wouldn’t recommend it for people with knee issues, back issues or poor stamina. The climb is easy to moderate (mostly easy) but does require your to wear footwear with some grip. The climb is divided in 3 stages- Stage 1: fairly easy, mostly steps - you can see the falls (at least first half of it, the fall) Stage 2: easy to moderate climb, mostly no steps and its like a hike. U can go close to the falls - but not swim. Swimming is not allowed. But the view is amazing. It took us ~40-50 min to complete stage 2 climb. Stage 3: optional. Moderate to slightly hard, you can go to the top of the falls. Recommended only for people with good physical fitness and stamina. Its another 30-40 min climb. Stage 2 is perfect for a beautiful view and in interest of time.

We got there from center Nanu oya by tuktukfor 609 LKR. Before we visited Victoria parc which has a beautiful landscape and nice flowers. At the exit you pass by the pink post office where you can write and send postcards like in the 19th century . Picking up a Tuktuk with some negotiations will bring you to 2.5 km and 15 min ride to the entrance of the lovers leap waterfall . The climb will take you around 20 mins bit the view is spectacular . There is an easier descent with 500 m walk to the Main Street where taxi pickup is easier . Nanu Oya is a worthy stopover and our high recommendation for a stay is Suriya Guesr hotel with the Ayurvedic Cafe .

My guide Alex in the Galway Heights hotel organised a tuk tuk to take me to Lovers Leap waterfall. It is very uneven , rocky ground and the path is difficult even for a tuk tuk. Alex accompanied me on this Walk from the point the driver could go no further. He knew where to get the best photos from. It is a beautiful waterfall and a lovely viewing point for the surrounding lush tea plantations and vegetable gardens.

You anyway have to do a minimum of 200m hike to reach this place but it is not difficult. What we did was to park the car in lovers leaf main road ( coordinates 6.974070215509155, 80.78391208535895) and walk to the waterfall since the road condition beyond that location was not good as per our comfort. Therefore we had to walk a total of about 900m to reach the place but the journey was not that hard. you can follow foot path to reach the waterfall. vehicle parking anyway is not easy to find in the car park areas shown in google map. waterfall is beatiful and the walk is worth considering the experience and the beautiful view

The trail takes you through beautiful Pedro Tea Estate views, misty hills, and fresh mountain air. Once you reach the top, the view is absolutely worth it — stunning scenery, cool breeze, and the soothing sound of the waterfall. One thing that makes this spot special is its legend. According to local history, a prince once fell in love with a village girl who saved him when he was lost. Their love was forbidden, and instead of being separated, they chose to leap together from the top of the waterfall, giving the place its romantic (but tragic) name. The story adds a mystical feel to the whole area. Overall, Lover’s Leap is a beautiful, easy-to-reach waterfall with a great view and a touching history. Lover's Leap is a pretty waterfall near Nuwara Eliya with a sad love story behind its name. It is said that two young lovers jumped from the top because they could not be together. While the area is very nice for walking, especially through the green tea fields, the waterfall itself is hard to see clearly because many trees and plants cover it. Also, besides the famous love story, there are some rumors in the area, maybe about ghosts from the story. Still, the place is quite popular. The whole visit is easy to do and makes for a good day out.

Beautiful and peaceful place to spend a few hours in Nuwara Eliya. The gardens are well kept, with a huge variety of flowers, ferns, and trees spread across different zones. The cool mountain air and mist make the walk relaxing and scenic, especially in the mornings. People have to buy tickets at the entrance, and payments can be made by credit card. Seniors get a discount. The ticket price is high to be honest. Parking can be a hassle on busy weekends. We visited multiple times between April and October and were able to see and enjoy plenty of flora. November to March can be flower less. We went in January once and there were no flowers at all. The rose garden and orchid house are highlights when they are in bloom. The location under Hakgala Rock gives great views across the valley. There is a cafeteria where you can buy food and drinks, and small shops that sell flower plants and souvenirs. A few areas could use better maintenance and clearer signs. Overall, it is worth visiting if you enjoy nature and photography. One of the best botanical gardens in Sri Lanka.

This is one of the five botanical gardens in Sri Lanka. Visited there with my friends and batch mates on a January weekend and amazed by the rich diversity of fauna. Every nook and corner was teeming with lush green flora, creating a serene and refreshing atmosphere. Although the climate was a bit colder for my preference, we still thoroughly enjoyed the trip.

Extremely beautiful place! This is one of the five botanical gardens in Sri Lanka. If you plan to visit this botanical garden, I would recommend you allocate at least 3 hours inside the garden as it’s pretty big and some paths are very steep as the whole garden is situated in a mountain. The garden is well maintained, clean, and has proper direction signages so that you can roam around freely and easily. It has lots of flowers and many trees from different parts of the world. Some parts at the top of garden is very secluded, serene, and peaceful as most people do not go there to avoid the steep road. I recommend you go there and enjoy some quiet time.

My daughter and I visited the Moon Plains, a reasonably new addition (Agricultural Tourism Zone, 2014) to visitors to enjoy instead of visiting the World’s End. This has a 360 degree panoramic view rather than limited view from World’s End location. This falls under Nuwara Eliya Municipal Council, and the tours are managed in collaboration with Department of Agriculture to our understanding. There are Safari Jeeps available for hire with a driver and a tour guide, which is fantastic. Unlike World’s End, the jeep takes you to the top of the Moon Plain, although it’s a quiet rough ride. Our tour guide, Anthony, was very knowledgeable. He walked with us to the top of the Moon Plains, and explained to us of surrounding mountain range, what we can see below the mountains; understandably very windy, to understand how windy, we couldn’t stand on our own. Yet, the view was breathtaking despite not a bright sunny day, fully worth the visit. At the top of the plains there’s a metal and concrete structure, which is the Viewing Deck with a safety rail all around. Although it’s great idea, it is unfortunate that the designers didn’t appear to have considered the environmental impact this ugly structure brings to the plains. It is our opinion or view, this should have been designed to blend with the environment; at least it’s time for an organisation to consider modifying the structure to suit the beautiful environment. There are no toilets at the top of the plains, however there are toilet facilities where the ticket counter is located. The toilets are reasonable although some maintenance work needed.

Moon Plains — A must-visit in Nuwara Eliya! Absolutely beautiful and breathtaking views! From the top, you can see seven of the highest mountains in Sri Lanka — a truly stunning sight. You can drive your own vehicle up to the ticket counter, and from there, you need to hire a safari jeep (around LKR 3000). The jeep takes you to the viewpoint, where you get about 20 minutes to enjoy and take photos. If you’re lucky and there’s no mist, you’ll be treated to a 360° panoramic view that’s simply unforgettable. A peaceful and refreshing place, perfect for nature lovers and photographers!

We had a great time at Moon Plains in Nuwara Eliya! The views were absolutely stunning, and it was such a peaceful place to enjoy nature. Our tour guide was excellent—very knowledgeable and explained everything so well. It made the experience even more enjoyable. Overall, it was a lovely visit with unforgettable scenery!

This is the entrance of the moon plains. You need to buy ticket rs 100 and you MUST get a safari vehicle rs 3000. It can carry 6-7 people. Make sure You cannot walk to moon plains from here. You must take a vehicle. From here its 2km to moon plains. You will get safari feeling. 1 hour journey. Lot of places you can see from this place.

Moon Plains is just 4 km from Nuwara Eliya Town and 3 km from Gregory Park, The best time to visit is early morning to enjoy the sunrise and the stunning 360° mountain view. Entrance is LKR 100 for adults and LKR 50 for children. A safari jeep is required to reach the viewpoint and costs LKR 3,000 for a 30-minute ride -totally worth it. We attended a Naadhagama musical session to this place. The mix was magical! We really couldn’t believe we weren’t in a movie scene with the amazing views and landscapes. The place was a little bit sunny but cool. You can really enjoy the views coupled with a 10 min jeep ride

Hidden World’s End in Nuwara Eliya town. The view from the top is absolutely stunning — definitely the main (and only) highlight. You need to hire a safari jeep to get there, which costs around 3000 LKR. Walking to the top isn’t allowed, so jeep is the only option. Important note: I wouldn’t recommend this trip for pregnant women due to the rough and bumpy ride. Overall, it’s worth it if you’re going just for the view — but don’t expect much else in terms of activities or facilities.

It's hard to find birds around but for sure it gives a different experience. Ticket would cost only 70 rupees and the walking track is about 2km in total. Safe to go with Children as well. If I visit again, would definitely go again.

Gallswayland National Park is located just a few kilometers from the Nuwara Eliya town center. Though not massive in area, it is a beautifully preserved park. An information center near the ticket counter provides details on the animal species you might encounter within this compact sanctuary. A paved footpath runs through most of the park, making for a pleasant walk. A full round takes between 30 minutes to an hour, depending on your pace. To be honest, during my visit I only witnessed one Sri Lankan Jungle fowl. As I am not experienced in tracking wildlife, you may be lucky enough to see more. Regardless, the park offers a wonderful chance to take in fresh air and enjoy a 30-minute respite from city life. Please note there is no dedicated parking lot, and the space available at the office is very limited. However, parking by the side of the road is not prohibited. Ticket prices are nominal, in 2025, I paid only Rs. 142 for two adults.

As soon as you step onto the estate, you're immediately surrounded by the beautiful fragrance of tea. The views of the plantations and mountains are absolutely gorgeous and peaceful. We took a factory tour, and the guide was knowledgeable and friendly. Learning about the estate's history and how they make their tea was truly fascinating. Sipping tea while soaking in the stunning scenery made for a wonderfully serene experience. I’d love to visit again and bring others along!

Really enjoyed the visit and tour around the tea factory and looking out over the plantation. Very informative guide who talked about how they grow, pick and process the tea from start to finish. Seeing the picked leaves recently harvested, right through the factory processes up to finished product was really good to experience, three smell in the drying room was something else, such an intense tea aroma. Tasted a really good cup of tea afterwards, the shop is very small though, with a very limited range. The little steel selling a locally made hot snack was an added bonus too. Note no photos or videos allowed in the factory itself

Pedro tea estate is a must visit destination when in Nuwaraeliya, the weather is awesome and the tea is amazing, and also if you pay 2000 per person you will get a guided tour and get a walk through the entire tea making process. (Though it's a bit boring) you can get a basic idea of the layout of the tea factory. Don't expect to see any production.

We visited Pedro Tea Factory, and there is no entrance fee to explore the estate. However, interacting with the workers is strictly prohibited due to past incidents. This estate is known as the first tea plantation in the region and holds a significant place in Sri Lanka’s tea history. Looked abandoned when we arrived but please percervire as it gets better!! If you do a tour the tea is free and our guide was really lovely actually. She was a trainee but she could handle us! A mother was showering her two young children in the toilet but that is okay. Tea was nice and beautiful views as we consumed. As a group of 5 we received 7 teacups however unsure if due to arithmetic’s or generosity. Many motivational mantras about tea on the walls spelt mostly grammatically correct

A disappointing visit to Pedro tea plantation. I have been to many tea plantations around the world and had a much more informative and welcoming experience. We were told there was no photography and filming allowed inside - not because they are worried about trade secrets being leaked but obviously don't want the dismal working conditions of their staff to be seen. Workers have no hearing protection, eyewear or masks. It is loud, we were in there for 15 mins and were caked in dust and tea fibre dust. My clothes were a mess. Imagine working like that for a long shift. We were then told the tea picking activity (extra 1000LKR) was cancelled due to light drizzle. I got the feeling they didn't want us there at all. We then sat down and a cup of tea was unenthusiastically dumped in front of each person with no explanation on what we were drinking. The gift shop was tiny and there were no prices on anything and nobody in the shop to serve us had we wanted to buy anything. Nobody bought anything and so we left. Waste of time.

An absolute beauty of the nature. The hike is about 2 km but could feel like five because of the terrain. We went on a weekday during the evening. It was rather crowded, but absolutely worth the hike. There is a point that you need to cross the river to get to the better side of viewing. Again, you should definitely do it.

I visited Bomburu Ella yesterday, and it was such an amazing experience! The 2 km walk to reach the falls is adventurous and refreshing, surrounded by beautiful nature. This is HIDDEN GEM for westerners tourist as I went today and I was almost the only tourist. Only Sri Lankan locals. About hundred of them enjoying the waterfall. It’s a pity not many foreigners know about this place. Entrance fee is 700LKR. For locals is 100LKR. Still cheap though. Hike is 1.5km around 20-30minutes from the parking lot. I recommend going early around 10-11am. Because at lunch time is gets BUSY. Local people especially come. Also, I suggest the locals to put more signs like is it allowed to get in the water? There’s no sign (at least in English) it would be very helpful. I didn’t get in cause no one was going- also I asked and they said its dangerous however it doesn’t seem like it.

Since childhood hearing stories of Ramayana, it's always intriguing to visit this place where Sita was. Held captive by ravana and it has been constructed into a beautiful Sita temple. It has a ₹,100 entry and beautiful idols with the priest explaining and blessing. The visitors also makes it a very, very divine experience. We were able to see the whole temple. And also visit the footprint beside the flowing river stream, where Hanuman GIS expected to have helped Sita to escape. There is a beautiful meditation hall for people visiting this shrine. A very different experience to at least see a part of history that has lived with you. Till this day. Witnessed with everything being told to you very systematically

Seetha Amman Kovil in Nuwara Eliya is a must-visit temple filled with peace and history. It’s believed to be the place where Princess Seetha from the Ramayana was held captive by King Ravana. You can still see the stream where she is said to have bathed and some rock marks believed to be Hanuman’s footprints. The temple has beautiful South Indian architecture and a calm spiritual vibe. For locals, entry is free, but foreigners may have to get a ticket or pay for special pooja services. It’s about 5 km from Nuwara Eliya town near Hakgala Gardens. The place gets crowded during holidays, so early morning visits are best.

We just went to play golf-first off the price was insane and different to what was advertised. Anyway we went to the driving range anyway, we had a lovely game and the man collecting the balls even gave me tips and came across lovely. We were having a lovely time and when it came to the end we gave the man a tip- a nice gesture on our behalf to say thank you. To this he then said it wasn’t enough and demanded 10,000. He then startered saying how his wage wasn’t enough last month, my partner and I explained we had no more cash on us and the man got increasing angry. Course was lovely staff need to be more polite

The course is very well maintained and has a lot of different obstacles, I lost 5 balls in the first 4 holes. Buy more balls if you are prone to hitting in the trees. For the €80/€60 you only get the green fee (permission to play 18/9 holes) you DON’T get balls, tees ore clubs. A caddie is included within the greenfee price. Don’t forget a shirt with a collar because you need one to play. If you don’t have one you will have to buy one for minimum €25,-.

Our office recently had a fantastic trip to the Nuwara Eliya Royal Golf Club for a dinner. the Club feels like a journey back in time. The historic clubhouse, with its colonial charm and ambiance, is a true highlight. It's the perfect place to unwind after a round of golf, with a cozy bar and beautiful view. The club's facilities are great for a group. The cozy and classic atmosphere of the clubhouse was excellent for our dinner night, The buffet was a highlight, offering a good variety of food that everyone enjoyed. The combination of its historical charm, natural beauty, and accommodating service made our trip a memorable.

A different experience that's NOT a hotel, yet you feel it's a hotel! Loved the food, the new wing of the rooms, the service,ambience and the location. We had a bit of an unpleasant experience as our room smelled ( the previous guests had had a baby and the baby has probably peed in the mattress) yep...it smelled like a toilet!! I don't blame the cleaners, as the smell wouldn't come immediately after. However ,they made sure to immediately change our room and make our stay a comfortable one! Other than that,the rest of the stay there was a wonderful one, with their cottage pie and the Hot Toddy( it definitely soothed my sore throat) was two of my favourites.

Lovely setting and I heard the course is good. I had gone to their Cafe for a tea and found the service average and coffee was poor. Food menu looked totally old world.

It is an iconic building located in centre of the city and one of the oldest post offices in Sri Lanka. It is Tudor style and 2 storeys red brick building. It has a lovely clock tower and was constructed in 1890s by the British. It is popular place with tourists and locals. There are bench/table in the lawns where you can have a picnic if the weather is cooler. You can buy stamps and post mail here to have a record of your visit. It is still functioning as a post office today

My daughter and I visited the Nuwara Eliya Post office on 12 August, a landmark building in Sri Lanka, built just prior to start of nineteenth century during British Colonial period. Great to see the building has retained its original design status, it definitely needs reasonable renovation to retain its glamorous appearance for the future generations. We sighted the historical items in a corner. Definitely those must be placed in a more prominent place as exhibits for the visitors to enjoy the historical importance of this place. This needs to be redesigned by experienced architects to retain the original design designs but to achieve the modern services. We wanted to post few picture post cards to our home New Zealand, which we did. Guess how much we spent. Each beautiful picture post card was LKR50 and stamp cost was LKR50 to New Zealand, total LKR100 which was less than one NZD.

Read the views so decided not to do the tour but headed up there to enjoy the views and look around outside the factory. There is a tea room there with spectacular views over the tea plants. We had two cups of tea which cost a mere 200 rupees, and ate our picnic. We really enjoyed the tea and views.

Go early to see the factory working. The tea processing happens overnight so arrive at the visitors centre at 8am when it opens for a tour. No photos are allowed inside unfortunately. Don’t do the plucking tour. You get given a back bag and taught what to pick then given 20 minutes to collect tea.

Beautiful experience without a ton of tourist. The factory tour took about 20mins and showed the whole process. The lady doing the tour explained everything clearly and answered all our questions. We also did the tea picking experience where she showed us which leaves to pick and then let us to enjoy the views and take pictures. After all the tourist traps we were directed to, this was a really great experience.

Had an amazing experience at Pedro Tea Factory! The scenery was absolutely beautiful, and the tour was very informative. learned a lot about the tea-making process, and the staff was welcoming and knowledgeable. Definitely a must-visit spot in Nuwara Eliya!

Extremely Disappointed – Not Worth the Money! Pedro Tea Factory is an absolute rip-off! They charge 1000 rupees just for a basic factory visit – no complimentary tea, no plantation walk, nothing extra. That price is outrageous considering other tea factories in the area offer much better service and a more immersive experience for half the price or even free. On top of that, the staff were shockingly rude and unwelcoming. They clearly don’t care about tourists or customer service. It felt like we were an inconvenience to them. There are plenty of other tea factories in Nuwara Eliya that are far more worth your time and money. Don’t waste either of those at Pedro. Highly disappointing.

Honestly, I don’t know why the reviews of this place are as good as they are. The landscape is beautiful and we liked that we could walk through the tea plantation, but the staff was not very friendly and didn’t really seem to care that we were there. If you want a factory tour or to do some tea picking it will cost you 1000 rupees each activity. We did the picking because we had done a factory tour of Labookellie yesterday (great tour, great staff, and a FREE tour). We got about 2 mins of instruction and then we just picked a couple leafs for a photo. Not worth it. If you want to tour a factory, just go to Labookellie. If you really want to go into a tea plantation, come here and just go for a walk - don’t pay for the picking.

Very poor customer service by an employee called Kaushi. We arrived first for the tea tour and were told to wait by an employee named Kaushi. After waiting over 40 minutes with no update, we saw her start the tour with another family who arrived much later. When I approached her, she simply said, “Sorry, I forgot about you.” Then we had to wait until she completes tour for others, as she forgot about us. While we were seater in the waiting area, which Kaushi showed us. We were first one to arrive and in total waiting time was more than 1 h! Very unprofessional and upsetting experience. Hope they improve their training and customer care. The tour itself was short, not worth it.

This is a charming place for anyone who loves strawberries. They offer a great selection of strawberry-based treats like fresh juice, creamy milkshakes, and soft, tasty pancakes. We tried the fresh strawberry pancake with cream. It was delicious. The cream was rich and tasty, and the strawberries were fresh and full of flavor. The prices are a bit on the expensive side, so it may not be the cheapest option. But the quality is very good. One of the best parts is that you can see the strawberry farm right next to the shop. It is nice to see where the berries come from. It gives a fresh and real feeling to the whole experience.

The quality of strawberries, strawberry jam, chocolates are so good ! We always go here if we are in Nuwara Eliya. Specially because they have Raspberry jams and occasionally other types of berries too. Even the food they prepare like strawberries with chocolate sauce, etc are really good potions 😍👌🏽 even though it’s not the most fanciest place ever, it has this vibe which is unique to them I guess. But can be cleaner I think.

I would not recommend spending your money on this particular item, as it does not meet the expected quality. Additionally, the food items at this location are priced higher than in other nearby places. We also tried a cheesecake during our visit, which we would rate 6/10. The flavor was acceptable, but the presentation was poor — the cake was served already broken into two pieces.

Single Tree Hill Temple is a Buddhist temple located in Nuwara Eliya approximately 2100 meters above sea level and very close to Nuwara Eliya town. The temple is situated on One Tree Mountain, the 10th tallest mountain in Sri Lanka which stands 250 meters above Nuwara Eliya city. For those who enjoy hiking reaching the top is an exciting adventure. The best time for hiking is in the morning as the sunrise offers breathtaking scenery. Although the temple’s construction is still ongoing, it is well worth a visit.

Single Tree Hill is the 10th tallest mountain in Sri Lanka in Nuwara Eliya Town. I have visited this year on June very good weather . Anyone can try for a short hiking there and anyone can take car to go top it takes 20/25 mins to go there . You can see the whole city from top also there's Buddha Temple but did not finish yet because of fund and other than you can see tea plants. Nice place can keep in your list if you're visiting Nuwara Eliya.

The last 1.5 kilometers are difficult even for a bike. The road is broken. It's fine until you get to the temple.

You can go there by any car and park near that temple. Then walk a bit to go to the top. There you can see the whole nuwara eliya city view. No need to buy any tickets. Totally worth going there. 💯

We did the Single tree hike from Nuwara Eliya, which was basically nice. Since the weather was cloudy and foggy, the view was limited but we saw some tea plantages, which was very nice. On the way up, there was a nice temple too. However, we were surprised on top of the hill as there is a large radar station, which we did not know in advance. This was a little disappointing.

First of all this is not a public place to visit. This is Buddhist temple, the view is worth but if you're looking for feel the nature with calm and quiet place, this is not! Easy way to climb top of the hill. You can visit there by your vehicle . Road is good condition through temple. Also there's more to explore after temple place. You can climb up to the towers you seeing top of the hill, but there's no view like temple place. Actually they ruined the nature and real environmental feel by adding concrete buildings and statues. But somehow balanced place to see nuwaraeliya in a nice view

Wonderful church with a significant historical value, connected to the colonial history of Ceylon and Nuwara Eliya, a place all tourists better not miss. Now (from Jan 2024) open for public throughout the day (earlier used to be open only from 1500 - 1800 hrs). It's an Anglican church, considered to be the oldest in the city, consecrated in 1852. It's a cruciform church building (clearly visible in satellite view on Google maps) with a conical shaped wooden roof. The colorful stained glasses is a highlight of the building which are artistic masterpieces. The centenary old pipe organ had been restored and is being currently used. The benches and most of the furniture and fixtures are custom-made from imported wood. Most are preserved in it's original form. The Church is now declared (in 2007) as an archeological protected monument. There are a number of memorial plaques on the walls as well as the churchyard. These include the plaques for several renowned British governors, bureaucrats, their families, friends and ex-servicemen who lost their lives during WW2. These include - Francis Henry Hamilton (the son of Gavin Hamilton, government agent for revenue & commerce, who built the Hamilton Canal), Lady Carolina Ridgeway (the wife of Sir Joseph West Ridgeway, who was instrumental in building the Lady Ridgeway Hospital in Colombo), family members of Samuel Baker. Douglas, the caretaker, is very knowledgeable of the historical importance of the church and all it's content. You'll be amazed with all his explanations. The Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip had visited the Church in 1954, and said to have gifted two main stained glass windows in remembrance of their visit (Douglas will show you). Highly recommended for all visitors to Little England.

Holy Trinity Church is an Anglican church in Nuwara Eliya in Sri Lanka. On 5 May 1845, a committee comprising Reverend Hermann Randall von Dadelszen, Colonel James Campbell, Colonel William Henry Slade (Royal Engineers), Captain Nelson (Royal Engineers), Lieutenant Albert Watson (Ceylon Rifle Regiment), Mr E. R. Power (Ceylon Civil Service), Mr H. C. Selby, Mr C. Temple and Mr E. F. Gepp met to discuss the construction of a church in Nuwara Eliya, at an estimated cost of £900.[1] Captain Nelson designed the building with the construction work done chiefly by the officers and men of the local garrison of the 15th Regiment, under the supervision of Major James Brunker. It took seven years after building commenced for the church to be completed. Upon its completion it was consecrated by Bishop James Chapman on 24 February 1852 (St. Matthias’ Day). The first vicar of the Holy Trinity Church, from 1843 to 1846, was Rev. von Dadelszen. In the late 1890s the congregation proposed enlarging the Church, there was however some opposition, who proposed the construction of a new Church near the old cemetery. The majority of the congregation however preferred the existing site. In 1889 the church was enlarged. The original portion of the building is at the church's western end. The additions can be noted by the difference in size of the corbels supporting the main rafters. On 18 April 1954 Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh attended services at the Holy Trinity church, with the Queen gifting a blue carpet and a stained glass window in remembrance of their visit. In 2001 the 100 year old Pipe Organ, which had been out of order for over 30 years, was restored at a cost of approximately half a million rupees. There are a number of memorial plaques on the church walls including Dr. G. Gardner, Superintendent of the Royal Botanical Gardens, Peradeniya; Captain William Fisher, father of Lord John Fisher, who was thrown off his horse and killed; Reginald Beauchamp Downall, tea planter, Legislative Council member; and Lady Carolina Ridgeway, wife of Sir Joseph West Ridgeway, Governor of Ceylon. The churchyard also several tombstones, including ones for Lady Olive Mary Caldecott, wife of Sir Andrew Caldecott, the last Governor of Ceylon, and the family members of Sir Samuel Baker.

This is one of the most beautiful & peaceful place in Nuwara Eliya. You'll bever regret spending time here especially in the evening (after 4pm). We stayed at the Grand for night while on a 2 week trip to Sri Lanka for our honeymoon. On arrival we were greeted with a cup of tea and very friendly staff! Our room was fantastic with a lovely cake waiting for us to celebrate! The cocktail bar was sophiscated yet cozy and the food throughout was amazing! Ajanthra, Nathu and Bilal were especially accommodating and my husband loved talking about the cricket. The gardens are also a must see. We wish we had stayed another night!

Great place to stay. Beautiful manicured gardens. Good food, good service. Rooms are a tad small, though the bathrooms of a good size. Lack of slip-resistant mat in the tub was the only negative. It is a heritage building from the mid nineteenth century which has been converted into a luxury property. Large range of cuisine options, great breakfast.

We did not stay at the hotel, but we visited for the afternoon high tea, and it was a wonderful experience. The hotel has a classic colonial charm and an elegant setting that makes the atmosphere very special. The high tea itself was well presented, with a nice selection of teas, savory bites, and sweet treats that were fresh and delicious. Worst safari service I ever seen. First at all, there is no need of safari jeep service, any good vehicle would do the job. It's only a way created for making a living for some / few people. They charge entrance fees and again for safari jeep. Jeep can accommodate 6 personal. You can team up with other tourists at the site and share the fee but, those greedy safari guides and drivers are not encouraging it, also tried to get a chunk of money from us for no reason. If you are not visiting as a group of 6, try to group up at the site. Also if you are a foreigner, you may pay quite a large amount more than local travellers, so don't waste a tip for those safari riders or guides. They are not allowing foreigners to team up with locals because they are always hoping to get money from you as tips or pretending to be guiding or any other means. Who may authorized to put up a safari business and then restricted the access to this place should do a better better job by following up and reviewing who are and what kind of people they entrusted to do they job

A very beautiful place with a 360° view of the surrounding area. A must visit if you are in Nuwara Eliya. Best to go in the morning to see wild animals. The jeep ride is an adventure! Expect it to be a bit bumpy.

Beautiful place to watch the plains and surrounding mountain range. Some things to note: 1) entry for foreigner is 400 rs 2) jeep ride to the viewing point (which is the true jem of the place) costs 2000 rs 3) it is a 4km ride to end (so 8km to and fro) 4) you can actually walk to the viewing point (just follow the path, there is only one)

It is actually a mountain inside a large farmland. You are not allowed to use your vehicle and it is required to hire a safarri jeep at the entrance. vehicle cost at around Rs.2000/=. You can see most of the famouse mountains and valleys in sri lanka if the sky is clear. Most beautiful place to travel in nuwaraeliya.

A good place to buy branded winter clothing. There are genuinely quality products as well as fake. Also the prices aren't marked and will depend on the person, situation, etc. So please make sure you take some time to go around, don't show that you are happy with any product or in hurry. The haven if scammers and thieves who will rob you of your money in broad daylight. Unless you have anything better to do than burn your money then go here and get ripped off. They will tell you a jacket is 15,000 lkr when its worth only 2000 in any other place. Do not ever go here. They will change thier prices based on how you look.

It's definitely changed and is way more expensive than is necessary or used to be. Mostly they look at your face and name prices and somehow try to pass the stocks off as store original instead of the factory rejects or surplus it is due to very minor imperfections or defects. It's a good place to get some quality winter wear but definitely bargain and haggle or you will get played out.

The word “Single Tree” has been in existence from time immemorial. An excellent view of the sun rise can be seen from the top of this mountain. Situated 6890 ft above meansea level and takes about 90 minutes to reach the top. Single Tree hill is the best vantage point to observe the beauty of Nuwara Eliya and the beauty of Haggala Mountain range. Single Tree Mountain unravels the spectacular views of the entire Nuwara Eliya Town including other mountains such as Piduruthalagala and Haggala mountains. After trekking through tea plantations one reaches the top where there is just 1 single tree. This is the 7th highest mountain in Sri Lanka and is easily accessible. If one gets to the top around 5.30 a.m. – 7.00 a.m. one can see the best cloud formations around Sri Lanka and also the reflection of the mountain through Gregory Lake. The menu focuses on pizza and pasta, accompanied by a limited selection of beverages like juices and soft drinks. We were impressed by the variety, with over twenty types of pizza on offer. The pizzas come in one substantial size, which is a full and well-portioned meal for two. Our pizza was indeed very tasty, characterized by a thin crust that was generously loaded with cheese, vegetables, and other ingredients. It's worth noting that this thin crust can be delicate; the first pizza she baked for us broke, and she graciously remade it, though this did add an extra 15 minutes to our wait. The restaurant is currently undergoing improvements, with an upper floor under construction to enhance the service. For now, facilities include a common outside restroom. Be aware that there is no dedicated parking space, and card payments are not currently accepted. A charming detail is that the tables are covered in positive reviews from previous customers, which we enjoyed reading. As we were leaving, the owner thanked us sincerely for visiting her small place, a gesture we found to be genuinely humble and appreciative.

This is hands down the best pizza I’ve ever had which is way better than Giovanni’s, trust me! Salmiya serves truly authentic Italian pizza made with high-quality, fresh ingredients. We also tried the garden salad, which was packed with fresh veggies and absolutely delicious. The lady who served us was super friendly and welcoming, adding to the great experience. While the place isn’t set up for fine dining and the exterior may not look fancy, don’t let that fool you, the food more than makes up for it. It’s just a 5-minute walk from Gregory Park, and we’ll definitely never skip this spot again whenever we’re in Nuwara Eliya.

I visited Themparadu Restaurant with my wife, and unfortunately, it was a very disappointing experience. The food we received tasted like it had been stored in the refrigerator and was definitely not worth the price we paid. The service was also very poor — the staff seemed to pay more attention to foreigners and did not treat local guests with the same care. The only positives were the atmosphere and the beautiful decor, which were quite good. But apart from that, I would not recommend this restaurant.

We ate here on our 2 evenings in nuwara eliya. The food was really super creative and one of the best we've had in Sri Lanka so far. The team is super pleasant and eager to please, only the music was a little bit too loud - but you could overlook that. I can really only recommend chicken in the bee! The homemade mayo and mojo were also a dream.

A dark pub with wooden chairs and tables, and large photos on the wall. Lots of character, here in the states it would be considered a dive bar, my favorite type... Awesome service, excellent draft beer, and very good prices. Had the Lion Strong draft, which was surprisingly tasty. All they need now is to get Lion Stout draft (the best beer created by Lion Brewery) and I will be in heaven!

A nice lake/reservoir on the way to Ambewela/Horton plains. There are boats to hire and no other activities except that. Surroundings are very beautiful, it can be a little too cold around the lake specially in the mornings and evenings. There is parking available by the side of the road.

Perfect place for authentic Sri Lankan breakfast. Everything is cheap. Only vegan options available, they don't make eggs here unfortunately. They're plenty of sweet pastries to have with a cup of tea, or if you're feeling adventurous try that hot green herbal drink everybody is ordering here.

When one of my friend told me that these eatery is empowering the women. Honestly, i love the concept and idea.. The next morning I were here for my breakfast. There were variety of local foods and drinks here.. Only serving vegetarian meals.. Price is very reasonable. Only issue was when I were there, these place were very crowded, not enough seats. I waited almost 20 minutes to get a seat and these place was fully self service which i feel not very practical for these kind of busy eatery.. As a tourist i was struggled to order food where the local customers are tend to not queue on the line. I was actually having some hard time here to buy the foods. But everything else seems to be perfect.

Simply Strawberries is a fantastic place to enjoy delicious strawberry-based dishes. From desserts to drinks, everything was fresh and full of flavor. We visited this month and it was my first time there. We tried the Breakfast Berry and the Turkish-Style Granola Bowl—both were quite similar, with a mix of strawberries and yogurt. I thought that something paired with chocolate would have been an even better treat. We thought we could go closer to the strawberry plants, which is why we stopped there. However, there is only an observation tunnel separated by a steel fence, so you can only see the strawberry plants from a distance. There are other strawberry farms which allow to go near strawberry plants. So basically, this is a strawberry cafe at a beautiful location. Wind farms are nearby. Anyway, the Food is tasty. 10/10 for waffle with strawberries, chocolate and whip cream. 6/10 for Tiramisu cake Price is slightly high. But I understand this is the normal price of strawberry products.

A beautiful and wonderful place to try various strawberry snacks!! The strawberries were so juicy and fresh. We tried the waffles which I simply ADORED it was so good and we also tried the Turkish-Style Granola Bowl which was delicious. The crunch of granola mixed so well with the strawberries and yoghurt. I've been here twice and the staff have always been friendly and welcoming and there's plenty of seating space. There are flowers to take pictures with as well. Would absolutely recommend this little spot for any desserts or strawberry lovers! I will definitely be visiting them again next time I go to Nuwara Eliya!

We were pleasantly surprised by this place. We had no expectations. We went in want to buy strawberries but then the menu was irresistible. The desserts were out of this world we all ended up ordering thr sundae ice cream plus the fresh strawberries. Not sure if it's a famous place. However for us as visitors to srilanka this is a hidden gem a must try!

The place has lovely views of the tea plantations, hills, and is very close to the train station — usually just a short walk (5 minutes or so). Very convenient for catching a train or using Nanuoya/rail connections. Traveling on a moderate budget and prioritizing local charm, scenery, tranquility, being close to the train, and good home-cooked meals, this is a very good pick. It’s especially nice if it is not expecting luxury or high-end resort comforts.

Lovely place to spend a night between stops on a trip around Sri Lanka. By far the best breakfast we’ve had on our trip, with home cooked food tasting amazing. The host was super friendly and funny, giving advice and support whenever we needed it. A lovely family run guest house just 7 minutes walk from Nanuoya station. We stayed for a night before our onward travel to Ella on the train and the host made us feel very welcome. The view from the shared balcony was truly beautiful. The hospitality alone is more than enough reason to stay here. Thank you!

We stayed one night at The Train View, and it was an unforgettable experience. Selva and his family were wonderfully warm and welcoming, serving us delicious homemade local dishes for both dinner and breakfast. The chicken curry was outstanding — rich in flavor and absolutely worth trying. We enjoyed every moment of our stay. From our room, we were treated to a breathtaking panorama of endless tea plantations, a view we will always remember.

Overall excellent experience - only didn’t give 5 stars as there was no Wi-Fi in the room. Other than that, the room was comfortable and clean, the views were spectacular! The local food is delicious and I enjoyed breakfast from the host’s family, which was lovely. We booked our stay on Airbnb and we have been very satisfied! The rooms are comfortable and the area very quiet. We had a good resting night 🙂. We chose to have dinner at the guesthouse since there is not much option in town. The food was very tasty and we enjoyed our dinner very much. Definitely a great place to stay! Thanks

The rooms are little but vor one night perfect. The bathroom is okey for the important things but not the confortablest one. The guy from the guesthouse was very frendly and the braksfast was really good. For people who sleep one night there an take the train at the next day i will recomend this room.

A wonderful experience going through this safe for all forest park...it takes 1 hour to complete buy it took us 2 hours but never felt the time passing since it was so interesting and one of a kind experience...Encountered many unexpected human dummies which depicts how people do their day to day work....A must go place

A highly recommended place for anyone, whether students studying biology or someone wanting to have a nature walk. Although seems a bit neglected, it is still nature at its best. Accessing is quite easy, just situated on the way to Ambewela, next to the Kande Ela lake so it's hard to miss.

Good fruit market with a large selection of fruits. They have many native fruits to Nuwereliya for sale here. Ask them and they will show you. But their prices are very high. They charged us Rs.250/= for a pears and around 80 for a sweet passionfruit. Still we bought them to experience the native fruits of Nuwereliya. You might be able to buy them cheaper inside the Nuwereliya main market if you go in the early morning.

You can find all kinds of fruits here, specially fresh strawberries and pears. Also there are few jackets and batik shops.

The fruit market was crowded, but we were able to find everything we needed. A good place for fresh produce!

I recently visited Horton Plains National Park, and it was truly a therapeutic experience. Surrounded by misty hills, fresh mountain air, and breathtaking scenery, the whole place felt calm and healing. The hike through the plains was both relaxing and refreshing — a perfect escape from the usual busy routine. The view from World’s End was absolutely stunning, and walking along the trail felt like being one with nature. The sound of the wind, the rustling trees, and the quietness of the surroundings made it an ideal spot to unwind and clear my mind.

Keep in mind that plastic bottles and non degradable packages are not allowed inside the park, which is great for protecting the environment. Overall, it was an unforgettable experience!

It's my first time visiting here. The cold was too much for me to bear. However, I was enjoying the time. So much to see, yet the time is limited. At the end don't forget to taste a glass of hot chocolate 😋 its mouthwatering. However i couldn't see milking process as I went in the afternoon. I recommend to go in the morning.

Ambewela, also known as the New Zealand Farm, is currently open to the public. I mentioned this because during the COVID-19 pandemic, it was closed, and some people might still think there are restrictions in place. At the checkpoint before entering the premises, the tyres of all vehicles are sanitized by the staff. Visitors are required to purchase a ticket, after which they can walk around the farm and observe cows, goats, rabbits, and other animals. Personally, I found the odor inside the cow shelters quite unbearable, so it may not be suitable for people with respiratory conditions or for infants. Milking hours are 4.00am to 9.15am, noon to 5.00pm and 8.00pm to next day 1.00am. Unfortunately, I couldn't experience that, so, I don’t have any comment to pass on that. There are two restaurants within the premises. You can buy Ambewela products such as cheese, milk, and milk powder at a discounted price, and enjoy snacks like fries and burgers along with a hot glass of fresh milk.

We recently visited Ambewela Farm with our two kids, and it was a wonderful experience! The drive through the hills was beautiful, and the cool, fresh air made it even better. The kids absolutely loved seeing the cows and learning how the dairy products are made. The place is clean, well maintained, and very family friendly. We also enjoyed the fresh milk, chicken burger , fries and yogurt at the café definitely worth trying! It’s a great outing for families who want to combine fun, learning, and nature. Highly recommend visiting if you’re in Nuwara Eliya.

The green hills are quite scenic, but the farm might put you off though. Make sure to check the weather before you go. It's absolutely horrible if it starts raining and the winds can be quite strong and feel like a storm even though it's just a small shower. The farm restaurant can serve you a bite for very cheap. But there's quite a bit of walking around there and they wouldn't let you take your vehicle inside the facility. Could be nice if it's sunny, absolutely horrible if it's raining.

Ambewela Farm is a great place to visit, especially for kids! They can see cows, learn about milk processing, and meet other farm animals. A must visit place if you are in Nuwaraeliya specially with the kids. Scenic environment with well kept high tech factory. Not only the cows you can see a variety of farm animals here including bunnies and goats. Highly recommend for a family visit.

We visited Ambewela Farm and first found the café on Google Maps. We tried the hot chocolate, which was delicious and went perfectly with the cookies though the cookie portion was more than enough! I’d suggest offering a half-cup option for kids, so food doesn’t go to waste. The service was good, and I would definitely recommend this café. However, the washroom facilities need some improvement.

Firstly, ignore reviews that say you can't get to the falls, you can buy the question is whether you should try. Ignore reviews that speak only of the various view points, they did not get to the falls. Getting to the falls involves starting at the trailhead indicates on Google maps and getting let through a locked gate after paying a fee of 1000 each (Aug2025 price). After the gate you take an easy to follow trail through a field then down steps cut in the mud. If it's been raining it will be muddy and slippy. The trail splits left and right near a large tree with right taking you to pools above the falls where you can swim, and left down a tricky climb down to below the falls. This route is not trivial. If it has been raining you will be covered in leaches, your blood will run freely and you can't stop to pull them off because more will attack you while you stop and you are on a narrow steep slippery muddy path so it's not like there's even a place to stop. When you get off the mud, you are onto rock, steep and without good hand or footholds so if it's wet you will be unable to climb back up. You can take photos from here but going further will be all but impossible unless it's dry and even then, it's not easy. So, should you bother to pay 1000? Well, given that most people don't and just view falls from afar, probably not. If you are a dedicated waterfall chaser then maybe, if you plan to swim or are fit and able to climb down to enjoy from below, otherwise, no, save your money and view from the view points or go to another easier cheaper location.

It’s the ideal combo for anyone with a sweet tooth. The environment is very calm and peaceful, making it a great spot to relax and enjoy your time. This place is an amazing stopover. As soon as you enter, you’re greeted with a refreshing cup of freshly brewed tea. The menu is small but offers a variety of delicious options. The parking area is a great spot to take photos, offering a beautiful view. One of the highlights is the free factory visit, where you can learn about the tea-making process, different types of tea, and much more. They also have a selection of exotic teas for purchase. This place is definitely worth a visit.

Well, the scenery is simply breathtaking. The tour of the tea processing system was very entertaining and educational. We all thoroughly enjoyed the tour. We got to go right into the various stations to experience the environments. If you love tea this is definitely a spot for you to visit. Give yourself 2-3 hours.

Nice and ambitious tea lounge with a tea factory attached. The milk tea is really good and tasty at a very reasonable price. Conveniently located on the way to Haputale town, easy to find and a perfect spot to take a rest during a long ride. Washroom facilities are also available, which makes the stop even more comfortable. Satisfied and recommended 😐 Not great welcome and friendly service. But ok

They have a good collection of tea varieties. Tour guide guide that I was a very pleasant person and very knowledgeable. The ONLY reason why I am giving 1 star is that I was not treated well by the wait staff. I was told that they offer tea tasting but wait staff rudely told me that I will only get black tea. I was fine with that. But then few minutes later, tea tasting was offered to white people next table. I did confrim from the tour guide lady and she did confirm that tea tasting is offered. Complete disappointment. However, the sales staff was very courteous and polite and that is the only reason why I purchased approx 50k worth of tea.

We had literally the warmest experience during our trip to Nuwaraeliya at the Labookellie Tea Lounge! We were warmly welcomed and served by a service staff who genuinely love hospitality, I must mention! We tried their Butter cake and Milkmaid Tea. I had the tastiest slice of butter cake that I’ve ever tried!! It was bouncy soft and airy topped with a thick caramel topping to die for! You’ll witness the richest taste of Ceylon Tea when take the first sip of the rich brown, thick, perfectly flavored and sweet tea they serve you. I would definitely visit Labookellie Tea Lounge on my next visit to Nuwaraeliya, well maybe on my way back home as well! To make sure I wouldn’t disappoint my tea loving soul, I purchased the quality BOPF pack of tea, until next time! 😊☺️

A bit of a drive from Nuwara Eliya, but the estate itself is beautiful and worth seeing. The tea lounge was lovely- we were each offered a cup of tea to try, and the cakes (paid separately) were fresh and tasty. The factory tour and tea tasting were good, though we found the tea sold here a bit pricier compared to outside shops. We would have loved to try the estate safari, but at 20,000 LKR it felt too expensive. Overall, a nice experience in a beautiful setting, just be prepared for higher prices if you wish to buy their tea to take back home.

It is located on a hilltop and it's a windy road trip up. It is a popular stop for travellers on the Ramayana trail. There is long steep stairs from the carpark to the temple and some may find it a hard climb. Amazing landscape views from the temple grounds. To enter the temple one must be attired properly including ladies covering their legs. Garments are available for hire before the stairs. Need hat, comfy shoes, water, moderate fitness to climb.

The silence and the divine vibrations of this temple is something I’ll cherish for a long time. If in Sri Lanka, this is a must visit irrespective of your religious beliefs. Just walking around this place is enough to experience bliss!

The Bhakta Hanuman Temple in Sri Lanka — such a peaceful and divine place! The 40 ft Hanuman statue is truly magnificent and inspiring. The temple surroundings are calm and serene, and the mountain view right in front of the temple adds to its beauty. A must-visit spot for anyone traveling around Ramboda or Nuwara Eliya — it’s a place where you instantly feel peace and positivity.

Hanumanji's temple (visited on 24th Oct 2025), having mythological significance, is located off Kandy-Nuwara Eliya route where you can experience peace and calmness. The temple, with the tallest statue of Hanumanji in Sri Lanka, overlooks the beautiful valley and has a large complex with a cafe and a souvenier shop. It also offers a dedicated vegetarian dining having good taste, so please keep this in mind when in sri lanka and looking for vegetarian option, although we just got a sambhar as jain.

One of the biggest temples and tallest Hanuman statue in Sri Lanka. It is situated on a hill overlooking the Kotmale reservoir. Very calm and full of spiritual energy. The main temple is tall building and you have to take stairs to reach the area. Parking is available near the hill. The view to the reservoir is serene and beautiful. It said to be the place where Shri Ram assembled the troops before the final battle of Ramayan. No tickets for entry.

Devon Falls is more than just a scenic spot; it is an enchanting journey into Sri Lanka's natural wonders. We went to the top of this beautiful waterfall ,The environment looks beautiful there . We spent a few hours there. You don't have to work hard to get to the top of this waterfall. A little bit inside from the main road. You can reach the top of the falls after stopping the car and walking about 500 meters. There are two more viewpoints around to see this beauty

Formed by a tributary of "Kotmala Oya", Devon falls is situated about 10 kms from Hatton towards Thalawakele. This beautiful waterfall can be seen while travelling in Hatton-Nuwaraeliya road and at Dimbula. The viewpoint near Mlesna Tea Castle offers the best views of the falls, and, there's another viewpoint up near St. Clair Tea Center. Parking is freely available at both viewpoints as well as along the main road, but be responsible when parking in main road.

What a beauty, must visited place of Srilanka Nuwara Eliya area. The best place to get a super view will be the temple area. Better view, please go to Kattu Mariyamman Kovil temple. Unbelievable beauty of nature.

Visiting Pidurutalagala,the highest peak in Sri Lanka, was a fantastic experience. The drive up the well-maintained road offers stunning views of the surrounding hills and tea plantations. At the summit, the panoramic view of the central province is simply breathtaking, especially on a clear day. The area is a high-security zone managed by the Sri Lankan military, which makes it feel very safe and clean. Be prepared for a short 20-minute walk from the parking area to the summit viewpoint. There's a small canteen run by the army at the top where you can get a hot cup of tea. Remember not to stop your vehicle on the road for photos, as there are signs of wildlife, including leopards. The mountain is open to the public until 4:00 PM or 5:00 PM.

Piduruthalagala, the highest mountain in Sri Lanka, is a high-security zone housing radar towers and a military base. While public access for sightseeing was permitted after COVID-19, it was initially fully restricted and later allowed only with prior permission from the Ministry of Defense. However, at the time of this review, that prior permission is no longer required for visitors. The mountain is situated within a protected forest range, so you must first purchase tickets at the counter before the security entrance. Please note that while the ticket counter is scheduled to open at 8:00 AM, during my visit the individual arrived and opened it around 8:30 AM. The cost depends on the number of people, their nationality, and whether they are adults or children. Additionally, a separate ticket is required for your vehicle; my car, for instance, was charged Rs. 800. The next step is the security checkpoint. Here, you must submit a piece of paper detailing the full name and NIC or passport number of every traveler, one contact number, your vehicle number, and the name of the police station closest to your residence. Having this information prepared in advance will significantly speed up your entry. Once cleared, the 5 to 6 km journey to the summit begins. The road is well-constructed and winds all the way up the mountain, with no stopping permitted along the route. A dedicated car park is available at the top, along with two cafeterias. As this is an active military base, most areas are restricted; it is essential to stay only in the permitted zones. Typically, an army officer will escort your group to the viewpoint and explain the sights visible from the summit. For the best experience, it is highly recommended to visit on a clear day, preferably during the morning hours, for optimal visibility.

Pidurutalagala, also known as Mount Pedro, is the highest mountain in Sri Lanka (2,524 m) and one of the most memorable stops in Nuwara Eliya. The drive up is scenic, winding through misty forests, and after a quick security check you can reach the summit by vehicle. The top is a highly secured zone with the national television broadcasting centre and radar system, but visitors are free to enjoy the peaceful atmosphere and panoramic views over Nuwara Eliya and the surrounding hills. On clear days, the scenery is breathtaking. There’s also a small canteen at the summit, and I highly recommend trying the hot pol roti with lunu miris and plain tea – super tasty and perfect with the cool mountain weather. It adds a cozy, local touch to the experience. Visitor tips: Carry NIC/passport for the security checkpoint (expect a queue sometimes). Parking space is limited, large vehicles can take up room. Washrooms are available but not well maintained(not recommended). Morning visits give the best chance of clear skies. Standing at the highest point in the country, enjoying the views and a warm roti in the mist, makes this a must-do experience in Nuwara Eliya.

The highest point in Sri Lanka offers panoramic views of the surrounding Nuwara Eliya area. Sri Pada can also be seen from here. Numerous mountains and beautiful scenery are visible from this vantage point. On clear days, many mountain peaks become visible, making the view even more stunning.

Mountain Piduruthalagala is located near Nuwara Eliya. This is the highest mountain in Sri Lanka, rising to an elevation of 2,524 meters (8,281 feet) above sea level. The mountain is a special landmark in the Central Highlands and serves as a telecommunication and broadcasting center. Access is restricted due to the presence of a military radar station, but the surrounding areas offer stunning 360-degree views of surrounding hills, and lush tea plantations. And recently open for local and foreigners.

This was my second visit to Pidurutalagala Mountain Peak. The last time I came here, a few years ago, we had to obtain permission from the Ministry of Defence before visiting. Now, anyone can visit without prior permission, which makes it much easier to explore. Since it’s located within a national sanctuary, you need to purchase tickets at the entrance. The place is absolutely beautiful, offering stunning scenic views of Nuwara Eliya town and the surrounding areas. It’s a must-visit spot if you’re in Nuwara Eliya!

The place closes at 5pm, so be there during the early hours of the day after 8am, you better take a decent vehicle, I prefer a Spacia or Wagon R for a city car, or any 4W Drive, sperate tickets for person and vehicle so make sure you got Rs 1000 for a single person, the vehicle will only be charges once, respect the advice of the military personnel there, who were quite helpful, restricted areas are maximum security areas and visiting required the permission and approval of the Ministry of Defence of Sri Lanka.

Visited the Church that is a heritage site and houses a relic of St Francis Xavier that they celebrate in the month of September. Built in the 1870's, it exhibits brilliant architecture and vintage charm that draws you in a spiritual experience with Christ. We were lucky to visit Saturday evening at 5pm for an English mass which on other days is mostly in Sinhalese. Women faithful are noted to veil their heads in reverence and men are to be suited appropriately.

A beautiful and quiet Catholic church just behind the local Cagill's Supermarket. It was a wet, cold and miserable day so enjoyed some peaceful time inside during a heavy downpour.

St. Francis Xavier Church in Nuwara Eliya is a truly peaceful and holy place. I deeply appreciate the way the priest conducts the Mass — calm, clear, and meaningful. His sermons are detailed, easy to understand, and full of wisdom, making the Word of God come alive. The atmosphere of the church is so serene that it fills my heart with joy and draws me closer to God every time I visit.

This waterfall is located very close to the main road, making it easily accessible for everyone. Even vehicles with low ground clearance can reach it without any issue. During the rainy season, the waterfall is especially stunning, with a strong flow and lush greenery all around, truly a refreshing sight. A humble request to all visitors: please do not throw rubbish. Let’s keep this natural beauty clean for everyone to enjoy. Respect nature and preserve it for future generations.

A beautiful fall directly visible from Maskeliya-Delhousie road. Water not suitable for bathing or drinking, as it flows directly from the Laxapana estate/village upstream. But a must stop over for a quick snap. Looks prettier during rainy season.

Its mind blowing waterfall could see during the journey to Sripada mountains. You can easily park along the road and reached to the waterfall or watch the waterfall in the vehicle if there is not considerable traffic around.

Mohini Falls is a breathtaking waterfall, especially during the rainy season, offering a spectacular visual treat. It is located near Sripada Road close to Nallathanniya. Visitors can stop to admire the falls up close and take pictures. Roadside parking is available for added convenience.

Mohini Falls is a stunning waterfall, especially during the rainy season. However, it is not recommended for bathing or drinking. The falls are conveniently located near the road, allowing for a drive-thru view. If you want to get a closer look and take pictures, there is a small space near the road to park vehicles.

The Mohini Falls is one of the attractions on the road to Nallathanniya, the starting point for the Adam's Peak (Sripadaya) pilgrimage. The water level was average. With the start of the pilgrimage season in December, the area around the falls has become a garbage dump again strewn with plastic and other waste. Disgusting.

Nanu Oya Waterfall is one of the most easily accessible waterfalls I’ve been to. Unlike many others that you only get to see from far away, here you can literally walk right up to the waterfall and enjoy it up close. Perfect spot for taking great photos too! And if you’re hungry, there’s even a street vendor nearby where you can grab a hot snack while enjoying the view.

A place I like to visit often. The waterfall is beautiful. It's even more beautiful on a high tide day. There is a special beauty when the train is passing. Also, there is a beautiful hidden amazing walking trail nearby. But many people Not interested this place because they try to catch the train from nanuoya. But it's nice to see.small beautiful waterfall.

Nanu Oya Waterfall is a beautiful and magnificent waterfall. No matter how many times you visit, it always feels like seeing it for the first time. Near the waterfall, there is an elderly lady named Veeramma who has been selling fruits for many years. When you visit, please help her in any way you can. From the upper area, you can also enjoy the lovely view of the train passing by. If you get the chance, don’t miss taking a bath in the waterfall. Note: During the rainy season, the water flow is stronger — so be careful when visiting.

This is a beautiful waterfall located at Nanuoya, wwhich is also very close to Nuwaraeliya. This has a unique view with the railway going above it. The water is ice cold & very clean. You can get a unique experience when a train goes through the bridge. A must visit waterfall around Nuwaraeliya.

Lovely waterfall surrounded by tea gardens. Peaceful, natural, and worth a quick stop on your way through Nuwara Eliya.

It is a narrow, sloping carpeted road that cannot be crossed by two vehicles. But it is a very beautiful waterfall, with a railway above. There are parking facilities. It can be visited for free.
