If you're on the hunt for a genuine taste of Korean cuisine in the DFW area, look no further than Somunnan Banchannara. Tucked away in a serene plaza near Walmart in Carrollton, this gem offers an impressive array of banchan and main dishes like stews, soups, and even curry. During my recent visit, I indulged in their Gimbap which was not only flavorful but also budget-friendly.
Why you should go
1
Experience authentic Korean side dish flavors
2
Variety of banchan options including main dishes like stews and soups
3
English labels on fridge items for easier selection
I'll never travel to Lewisville without this trip planner again
I love this place! So many Korean side dishes/ banchan are available and taste like my mom or grandma makes at home. It is truly homemade style.
Taste is good but I only have time on weekend.
On Sunday, they don't make a fresh food anymore.
I try to be there on Saturday but it's so difficult for me. But there good is good.
Did the owner/chef change?! I used to buy their cabbage kimchi and radish kimchi all the time but the last two times, they tasted bland/bad. They used to be soooo good, I don’t know what happened.
And I’m not the only one who noticed the change in taste. My parents have been buying their kimchi from this place for years and not anymore.
What a disappointment…

Nestled in quiet plaza by Walmart in Carrollton, this place is stocked with delicious banchan (and even main dishes like stews, soups, curry, mapo tofu, and black bean sauces).
Their fridge items now have labels in English. There is also have a catering menu, but note that it is in Korean so kindly and patiently ask the ajumma at the counter if you have questions.
My favorites include the spicy tofu and beef & radish soup (Soegogi-muguk 쇠고기무국). If you're already grocery shopping at H Mart, cross over Old Denton and give this place a try!
