Sprawling collection of WWII bunkers & fortifications, with exhibitions of artillery & uniforms.

Outstanding museum! Impressive is that the Museum exhibition gives you the opportunity to learn more about the whole impact of the German occupation on the Danish people and society. But also is able to take a look to the personal situation for the German soldiers. The exhibition in the bunker is thereby more focused on the technical and military historical information. The most interesting point is that if you take the time and walk the tours through the outside area. You can get the chance to understand the complexity of the whole Bunker complex. For some part of the outside tours you should be in physical good shape. The way to the main control bunker has a steep stairs section with no handrail. Solid footwear is mandatory.
Hanstholm Fortress is a fascinating place, featuring a massive cannon capable of firing 800kg shells an incredible 40km! You could easily fit inside the barrel twice. There are also smaller, original guns that you can rotate and move using their authentic mechanisms. I didn't get to visit the museum as I arrived after closing, but there's a huge parking lot right next to it.
If you are interested in military history this museum is a must-see. As the biggest fortress/bunker area built in Denmark during WW2 this place has so much to offer visitors. More than 450 bunkers were built here so there is much exploring to do when visiting. The museum consists of both an inside part and an outside part. As a guest you get 2 folders, explaining things about each part as you stroll along learning a lot about the war. Everything worth knowing is described in Danish, English and German language. I can very much recommend a visit here for both historybuffs and families as this museum has a lot to offer both young and old...very highly recommended
Far more extensive than we expected including a train ride (although you need to be early in line to get a place on it), and extensive rooms below ground where the soldiers were based. Not just a filler-in place to go but a must-see.
A great place to learn about the history of the second world war and how it affected this area. The signs are mostly available in Danish and German, though a separate booklet can be given to you in English on request. You can really appreciate the conservation efforts, the site takes you back in time!
It's a quiet place to reflect on the history. Peaceful, quiet but somber.
A very detailed exhibition. Cannon bunker is interesting, but could be possibly restored with more detail. It would certainly be interesting to have a mock cannon. There are several other interesting bunkers around the site, which makes for a good walk.
Great museum!! The bunker were part of a large wv 2 german fortifikation bunker. The 39 cm canons together with the Kristianssand bunker comanded the strait between Norway and Denmark. Great exhibitions and walks arround the museum.

Stenbjerg is one of the most authentic and memorable places I have visited in Denmark. The small white fishermen’s huts by the sea are not just charming – they carry a story. Originally built in the late 17th century, when local farmers were forced to turn to fishing after the dunes swallowed their fields, these houses became a symbol of resilience and culture. Walking down the road towards the ocean, with the dunes on both sides and the huts standing proudly, feels like stepping into another time. At sunset the view is breathtaking, and in the morning light you can feel the calm spirit of the North Sea. The restored huts now serve recreational fishermen, but they still preserve the old atmosphere. 🌿 The surroundings are equally beautiful – the Thy National Park with its wild dunes, heather fields, and endless coastline invites for long walks and bike rides. In summer, the village hosts Stenbjergdagen, a local festival with music and fresh fish, which makes the culture come alive even more.
The part around Klitmoller is better call a national catastrophic then national park, cut trees everywhere, the oldest trees maybe 10 years, the paths in marked trails are actually roads for tractors and full of mud, not any good parking and the best is the golf course in a national park! You Better visit some parks in town…
The place was beautiful, had a nice beach and so. But it was not what I had expected of the first Danish national park. Also some Americans were drinking, behaving annoyingly. There is a one room museum along the path to the beach, which was nice. In general it was a place to see but I don't have any particular memories of it.
Beautiful place with a variety of scenery. From forest, rolling grassy hills, & a beach that goes on for miles. Little town near by, so better to bring stuff in from the train station. Good camping site only a few kms from the town.
Very large park with lots of different routes to hike. Amazing walks near the sea but they are very windy. We went for a hike in the forest area which was equally beautiful.
Loved the national park of Thy it's pretty windy but the waves are showing there teeth and there's lots of Hills
A wide sandy beach, big waves, lots of sun and not so many people. Nice place to relax.
A wonderful Place to see the beautiful North sea

Nice place to visit on a sunny day. Capture the cliff and the WW2 bunker. Enjoy the trail walk all the way down to the beach from the cliff top. Enjoy your evening meal while watching the serene beauty of the nature.
A beautiful spot. One of the most breathtaking landscapes of Denmark. Very windy too.
It is one of the most beautiful and calm places in denmark. We spent a whole day with our kids.
Very beautiful place, sometimes can be very windy, but it not big problem if you would like to see the most amazing nature in the Denmark
Bulbjerg is a cliff standing around 50 meter tall and is one of Denmark’s only bird cliffs. The view from the top is stunning and breathtaking. I strongly recommend visiting the top to enjoy the, almost 360 degree, view of the shores and the hilly landscape.
Amazing formation on the west coast of Jutland. You will find many birds, amazing landscape as well as German bunker from the WWII. Lot's of hiking trails and unspoiled walks along the beach.
I love this place! And I love birds who live there. Because of them I go in the water with camera to take a beautiful pictures of them
Beautiful place! Great view and you can walk the stairs down to the beach from here or drive to the beach parking lot.

Cannot recommend this place enough! Such a wonderful little museum and lighthouse. And there was an incredible special photo exhibition about insects in Europe. And to top it all off, you can go for an amazing walk in the dunes to get to the beach in less than 20 mins!
Amazing place to visit. So many amenities and activities available! Very nice (and rare for Denmark) stone lighthouse. Lighthouse is open for climbing, staff is wonderful. Lots of hiking in the area.
Very nice lighthouse near Agger, loved the road trip to this place and have 30 dkk ticket 🎟, dont miss this beautiful place while you are near Thisted.
Lodbjerg Fyr is an old lighthouse who is placed in the moorland of Thy Nationalpark. The lighthouse was built in 1883 but lit for the first time in 1884. The lighthouse measures 35 meters and it is possible to climb the lighthouse after larger restoration done in 2019. Surrounding the lighthouse is beautiful nature and even a campsite with a wild shelter and bonfire.
Well worth the climb to the top, fantastic views with plaques showing distances, the last ladder could be challenging.
The lighthouse is absolutely wonderful and charming! The bathroom is very clean and warm. The exhibition is very interesting and well-organized. The parking is a few meters away from the lighthouse which is great because you don't need to walk a lot. Before you go to the top, make sure to dress properly - it is windy there.
An awefully inspiring area, with excellent routes through the landscape. I took the blue route (4) from the visitor centre at Lodbjerg fyr (which has excellent ice-cream). The information is perfect, so you feel comfortable exploring the beautiful national park.
It’s a nice addition to the town. It’s a bit too much architecture and too little play and learn. You will not get inspired or fascinated in a way you want to explore every corner of the national park. Rather you will get educated in a traditional way. I recommend taking a little walk in the actual park.

A very peaceful and nice place. It is very a calm à relaxing place. And it is also inspiring with the quantity of piece of art you can see. I highly recommend it when it is sunny, just to chill with a coffee after your tour in the exhibition.
It's a nice place of art and pretty nice and chill area art just isn't something I like but for people who likes art this would be an amazing place
Worth the detour. Paintings by a great personality from around the 2nd world war. Perfect stop for relaxing coffee and cake/kringle. Astounding number of portraits of famous and not so famous people from 50 years ago.
So welcoming with the Swedish lady at the entrance, great personal quotes and work of art from Kærs. A must see.
Loved visiting this place. A feeling of acceptance, with room to breathe, if you're a creative looking for inspiration. Tak for keeping this special place available to people and Artists!!!
Excellent and fascinating and welcoming. Always enjoy my visits, wonderful concerts with famous performers.
Wide range of art not just that of Kirsten Kjaers but also temporary exhibitions of other artists
The natural art and music museum that makes your soul flying like an angel....must go place in Denmark
