The location is very close to the airport. The room was very clean and comfortable. The beds were so heavenly comfortable. We had a pet friendly room for our little Girl Rosie and she slept all night. We ordered room service for breakfast rather than leaving Rosie in the room alone to eat in the Hotel restaurant, the meal was amazing, thank you Hailey your Newfoundland hospitality was breath taking. This hotel is clean and convenient for its location near the airport BUT for 2 nights stay during the week, with taxes over $550.. and that includes a 4% accommodation tax, what BS.. Now, you think you would get a breakfast with that, nope as you have to pay for it at the attached restaurant at an over priced menu. On top of this, they don't even offer a coffee in the lobby for free, no you need to fork out $$ for one..I just drove next door to Tim's for half the price! The main issue is, I had late afternoon flight (4 pm) and ask for 2 pm checkout and was told if I checkout after 1pm, they will charge me another night.. OMG, what great customer service.. and don't think they will rush to clean my room after I leave and get my room available.. I was ready to spend $ at the restaurant on site but not now. I stay at many hotels, over 100 + each year for business and have never had an experience like this.. not a great experience here 😕 😞

The music theme is everywhere and the decor is over the top. Every staff member I encountered was polite and engaging. The basic 2 q room is spacious and well equipped. I dined in Exile, a luxurious & comfy space. Tried the moose stew which was flavourful and generous, with a flaky biscuit. If you’re not a big music fan ( generations of rock & roll) the music might be too much but I loved it. The lay out is unique but they offer a site map and lots of signage. The pricing is EXCELLENT! Short walk to the fun Water Street stroll. And chocolate on the pillow? Heck no - a full Newfoundland chocolate bar!

When you first walk in the decor is stunning when you enter and at check in. At check in I was asked for another 100 as a deposit, which caught me off guard. I booked through expedia. We decided to enjoy food and drinks at Zimmys restaurant, which was okay, prices was somewhat reasonable, drinks expensive, 9.00 for a beer and 9 for a highball drink. Portion sizes for food was small but tasty we ordered 2 orders of wings 23 dollars each, calamari was 20.00 and onion rings 18.00. Wait time for drinks and food was very long, they forgot the onion rings and we had to ask for them to be bought out. We asked for more drinks and it was about 20 mins to get them. We also had to ask the waiter for water. We waited a long time for the bill to be bought out. I actually left my boyfriend there and eventually he had to go to the bar to ask if he could pay the bill, no one come with one first or last. Bill was $125.00 for pub food 2 beer and one drink. We were rushed now to attend Bat Dance. When we got back to the room to settle for the night the Electrical cabinet in the room was rattling loudly, and we didnt get to sleep the best, I even tried adjusting the door throughout the night so it didnt rattle but it continued all night. Which I did mention on checking out. The bed and pillows comfy. Check out was good and reasonable Over all not 4.5 star experience. Hotel look and decor 4.5 Staff 3 star Food and drinks 3 star

The interior designer should be applauded as every detail was considered. The location was great - close enough to the downtown that you can easily walk to dinner or for a night out, but far enough away that you wouldn't be bothered by the nightlife. It is close to the shipping yards so the view isn't great but there is so much to look at and appreciate inside it's not a problem! The pool is one of the largest I've seen, and they have a pool lift for anyone who might need it. Their gym is also one of the best hotel gyms I've ever seen. The rooms were clean, a nice size, and the staff were nice. Street parking was difficult to find but the valet service was reasonably priced and quick.

You can comfortably walk from the airport if you do not have too much luggage. They also provide shuttle services to and from the airport. The soundproofing seems legit because there was hardly any noise from the flights. We booked this hotel because not many options were available but I'm glad I made the booking here. They offer hot and cold breakfast. The good thing is there's a lot of options to try and there is always some variation daily. The only concerning this was the WiFi. It was very slow. But other than that, in terms of service, hospitality, ambience, food, and location, this hotel is a solid pick!!

AC vent then leaked all over my bed that night soaking the mattress. The hotel moved us to a different room situated above the gypsy restaurant where we could hear every conversation from there through the AC ducting. Disappointed that the hotel offered no form of reimbursement due to issues we had. Rooms are very average, great if you enjoy every shade of brown. Such a shame to finish a wonderful 2 week stay on this beautiful island here. Hard to recommend from our point of view.

Great spot if you are droning on George or water street. Staff were great and rooms were big. The Alexa that didn’t actually work was an interesting touch. We certainly had fun with it, despite it not working as a controller for the fire pace or TV. Check in was great with a friendly person at the front desk. The room is well worn and has not been kept in shape. A few things for example: furniture is damaged and drawers would not stay closed. Light bulbs in the room was burnt and not replaced. There is quite a bit of mold in the shower. The bathroom fan would not stay on for more than a minute before shorting out with a flash of the bathroom lights. There is more but you get the idea. Condition aside, what I was most frustrated with was on my third day of my seven day stay we got a call that woke us up (we were taking a nap after an early morning hike watching the sunrise) and it was the front desk asking us what time we are leaving. We said we had four more days to stay and they said they will look into it. We called about half an hour later to make sure they had sorted it out as we were getting concerned about what is happening. We were told there was a mistake and someone had provided the wrong room number when they requested their stay to be shortened. Another 15 minutes when by and there was a loud knock on the door. It was Amy from front desk. There was no greeting, no hello, no good morning the first thing she said was when are you checking out. Needless to say we were frustrated and repeated our conversation a third time and asked to speak to the manager Reji who basically blamed it on a night staff at the front desk and barely muttered an apology. This was overall a poor experience, however we wanted to give credit where credit is due the cleaning staff were super friendly and helpful and that did brighten up our otherwise unpleasant stay.

Next login in the room is great addition. If you had a higher floor facing the harbour, you probably had a great view. We had the 6th floor “City View” and all we could see was the full parking lot. The Restaurant / Room Service are on the pricier side, but that’s to be expected. The food was tasty though and made for a good snack when needed. My only complaint is the parking situation. There are not enough spots as they have rooms. Both nights we were there we had to park either around the corner on another property’s lot (as advised by staff) which resulted in a 5 min walk uphill beck to the hotel entrance or squeeze into a spot behind in what seems like staff parking. I get property is tight, but it seems the parking lot was an afterthought when they expanded the hotel.

My only recommendation was to contact hotels.com and ask for a refund for the difference between the quote and the actual charge. The room was extremely clean, and although outdated, well-maintained with a few minor issues. We stayed in the Bell Island Apartment. The room did have a few issues: temperature control with the wall unit didn't really work, the dishwasher was out of service and the couch's pull-out bed mattress was quite worn out and unusable, so one of us just slept on the couch during our stay. They try to off set this with an extremely strong air freshener. The staff was cold. The morning breakfast was mediocre at best. While admittedly the first half was good (orange juice with a bowl of fruit). The second half was disappointing, 6 heavily salted baked potatoes, and a bagel with simply butter. Location is quite good, a little outside St. John’s, unfortunately, parking is quite difficult. Overall, the price was much too high for the experience, at this price you could easily get yourself a nice suite at the four seasons. Undoubtedly the worst hotel experience I’ve ever had. There are NO amenities. There’s no bar (advertised), there’s nothing at all that would justify a 5 star hotel rating. It’s downright criminal.

I did not stay in the hotel but rather ate in the restaurant downstairs. My friend, who is a Newfoundlander, recommended this place as a lunch spot. The restaurant is super cool with thoughtful decor and both indoor and outdoor seating. They have an extensive menu with both seafood and non seafood options. The reason for such a low rating is that the service was horrible during our visit. When we checked in with the host we opted for indoor seating as the outside was full. She said when an outside table opened she would move us. We were given water and placed our food order. After 45 minutes of chatting and waiting I finally went to inquire about our order because it felt as though we were forgotten about. Once I was able to corral one of the multiple staff members I was told they were busy and they would get to us. They were rude and abrupt in their response. I told them that it would have been considerate to provide and update and perhaps refill our waters but they still were stand offish. Anyway the order came shortly thereafter and I must say; the truffle fries were the best I'd ever had. The sandwich I ordered was also fabulous. Improvement on service is needed.

We ate here on a whim, as we were walking buy we saw the special of roasted duck breast with blueberry jus which drew us in. Our waitress was fabulous, attentive and very friendly but not so much where you feel constantly interrupted. I'm not a desert person but they sounded amazing and I wasn't let down. Everything was delicious and we would definitely come back in a heart beat and maybe next time stay in the hotel.

It's a good place with good room amenities, friendly staff, fitness room, pool, and decent breakfast. All the staff were very accommodating and kind when interacting with them. The fitness room had all the standard equipment in good working order, the breakfast can get busy on weekends but it's still fine as a free provided breakfast, and the pool I didn't use. The room has a fridge, microwave, and large television; there's also a coffee machine and coffee/cups/sides provided. I happened to be there on a holiday and the place really fills up from the looks of the parking lot and breakfast crowd. The hotel is located in a very convenient area so it was easy to get to St. John’s or head up north to explore the rest of Newfoundland. Close to the highway as well. The rooms themselves were very spacious, however there was a slight smell in the washroom and room. We were charged on my Visa at the time that we checked in which was approximately 2:00 a.m. on Sunday September the 1st. 805 dollars was what we ended up paying and the only thing that worked was the jacuzzi and the fireplace in our room. The the black mugs in our room were dirty and sticky and clearly not washed. The mirror in the bathroom was not cleaned. We had to continually ask for towels as we were only provided with two. The housecoats were made for smaller people they did not fit us. I am very upset with our stay and the fact that we paid all of that money for really a Jacuzzi that we used twice and we didn't even check in until 2:00 a.m. on Sunday and we checked out at approximately 12:00 p.m. on Monday but yet we're charged for two nights. The chocolate covered strawberries we never found until the second day we were not told where the fridge was two and they were frozen solid and extremely messy. The staff or extremely friendly however there were a few times during the night around 8ish that we would call down for more towels and there would be no one at the desk. The staff of the desk were very apologetic however it isn't their fault and I would like to hear back from someone ASAP unfortunately I am in clinical but I am off on this Friday Saturday and Sunday. The hotel was safe and the rooms seem to have been recently updated. There is a restaurant on site for lunch and dinner. I respect Holiday Inn for always offering pet friendly rooms. At this location one reserves a "pet friendly, ground floor" room. However, the walk-outs on all ground floor rooms are sealed shut and one has to take the elevator or stairs to the first floor to enter or leave the hotel. Not ideal for a pet owner expecting a walk in/walk out. During my stay, the pet friendly floor was shared with a lot of long stay families and the kids used the hall as a playground. Also, double-check your bill when leaving, because when we used our free meals voucher, our server Jasmine brought us a bill, told us to sign it, and put our room number. Very comfortable bed, thick towels, water was hot and plentiful. Only issue was the bathroom had a lot of mold and needs a good cleaning. It’s not “OMG, disgusting” but definitely needs attention. But given that the view of the harbor is amazing and the location is surrounded by a lot of great restaurants and stores I’d still stay here again. It is a beautiful older home Rob and Brenda run with obvious care. Self serve check in was seamless. We stayed in the third floor Petty Harbour room which required a good hike up the two flights of stairs. Unfortunately, the first night was a rare muggy, warm one so the room was uncomfortably hot. We were grateful for the fan which we ran all night and we did open windows to get some airflow. One of the window screens was torn but our concerns about letting in flies turned out to be unfounded. The second night the weather cooperated and was much more comfortable. We did also have a problem with the shower drain clogging but Rob was quick to remedy that for us. Breakfast was also self serve and consisted of coffee/juice, cereals, yogurt, hard boiled eggs, fresh oranges, biscuits and toast. We thoroughly enjoyed it both mornings sitting out on their lovely deck. We enjoy walking/hiking so the Elizabeth Manor was walking distance for us to visit Signal Hill (one trail to the Visitor Centre and then on to the Cabot Tower on the way up and the scenic North Head trail on the way home), The Rooms and the historic downtown/waterfront area.

My husband and I arrived quite late, but Michelle and Simone made sure we had everything available for our arrival. Upon booking this stay I could not decide on which room to choose as each one has its own unique design and layout. For the first three nights we stayed in room #7 and the last four nights we stayed in room #6. Both were located on the top floor and very cozy, quiet and had all the amenities required for a relaxing stay. Prior to arriving I had made arrangements to have some extras provided throughout our stay which included delicious cocktails prepared every evening and a charcuterie board with an excellent selection of meats and cheese made available for snacking, all left in our room fridge to enjoy on our own schedule. Breakfast baskets were a welcome touch left outside our door each morning. The location was perfect for walking to the downtown area to enjoy the restaurants, pubs and shops. The Dvele Team also provided a recommendation for a private tour guide which upon my request was setup for us. We need to give a five star shout-out to George’s Tours! George is an amazing person who, although not originally from Newfoundland, knows everything about this incredible place that he has come to love over the last decade. We absolutely loved this charming historic Inn and highly recommend to anyone who looks for a relaxing high quality boutique hotel experience. You are given the access code for the entry door and they leave the room key at the check-in table. It is a great location in a quiet neighborhood and within walking distance to just about everything! We stayed at Abba Inn twice over a one week period during our travels in Newfoundland. The rooms themselves were nice enough, but the biggest issue was communication--or lack thereof. Across our 5 days spent at Abba, we never once saw or spoke with anyone on staff. In and of itself, not a bad thing, but the issue really came to light when we had a bit of uncertainty about the parking situation. We were given a rough diagram of where on the street we could park (without anything explicitly stating where not to park), though during one of our stays the diagram was very clearly for a totally different Hotel nowhere close to us, rendering the diagram pretty useless. With no one around to clarify where was actually safe to park, we did our best based on the diagram we were given... and the next morning had a $60 parking ticket on our windshield. I tried to contact the hotel staff to clarify again what the parking situation was, as the diagram seemed to suggest where we parked was okay. But I never heard anything back. I emailed them a couple days later to follow-up again, but now ~ 1 week later, I still haven't heard anything from them. Ultimately, we were able to figure out the parking situation on our own, which is probably what I should have done in the first place and just ignored the diagram they gave us. But to say that the communication was lacking would be an understatement... it was truly non-existent. All-in-all, I would actually stay here again and would certainly recommend the hotel to anyone considering. Just don't expect any form of communication, and park your car using your own brain, not the diagram they give you!
