I was first introduced to Monte Alban over a decade ago and have been coming a few times a year ever since. The service is excellent and very friendly. The music played throughout the restaurant is a touch too loud in my opinion but that's not a huge deal. Unfortunately, Monte Alban's menu has gone through some changes of late and some old favorites are gone (RIP Fajita Vaquero). The food is tasty and served hot, but there are better burritos and tacos in Rochester. The chilaquiles are a standout however. I also really appreciate the fresh and complimentary chips and salsa.

Everything is made from scratch, including the free salsa and tortilla chips they offer while you wait for your food. Tried the “Pancho’s Special” for lunch and it was delicious. The beans were great, rice was moist, guacamole was fresh, shrimp/chicken were nicely cooked, and the tortillas were warm. The inside is very colourful, and the patio is very nice and spacious. Prices are very fair, and the food comes out fairly quickly. Everything was perfect, including the super friendly and professional server (thank you Reina)! I tried 3 Mexican restaurants while in Rochester and this is by far the best one I’ve been to. Definitely check them out!

I ordered take out to eat back at S31 Lofts. When I got back to my room I was surprised that they didn't provide me with plastic ware or a napkin. I really wanted to like the food. Unfortunately the chicken in my empanada was dry and fairly flavorless. The rice looked like it has been scraped from the bottom of the pot and was on the dry side. The black beans were ok. The dessert I ordered were churros. Again, not as good as I had expected but not awful either. I would give them another chance however I would get a table and stay a while.

By far the worst Mexican food I have ever eaten, in fact didn’t eat. Service was horrible. We had 1:30 pm reservations. There are so many amazing Mexican restaurants in Rochester and surrounding areas but Selena’s IS NOT ONE!!!!!! When we asked to speak to the manager we were told they had left for the day we could call the next day. I spent close to 300.00 for our family and definitely did not get anything worth what was paid. So sad!! I wish the owners good and hope you can resolve these issues.

Over the years we have eaten here several times. I would recommend this place to anyone that enjoys Mexican food or to anyone that is vegetarian/vegan. The menu isn't huge but everything is customizable to fit your dietary preference. The burritos here are a solid choice. Also the cops with queso sauce are really good. The location is nice, the downstairs had a large bar and the upstairs has quite a few sit down tables to eat at. The vibe is chill with a fun nature. The service staff have a laid back but with a "I got you covered" mentally. This really helps you feel taken care of and leaves you feeling like you made the right decision eating here.

She has 3 cod fish tacos and I had the Thunderbird Sammy which is a crispy chicken thigh, piquillo spread, alabama ranch and pickles on a bun. This is one of the best chicken sandwiches I have ever had. When I cut the sandwich in half it was so soft and easy to cut right through. Price wise I would say this restaurant is around $$ but worth the money. I definitely recommend this restaurant and everything in between.

Our experience there was average. Service was good and the servers were knowledgeable for food accommodations such as gluten free, vegan and vegetarian. Menus are labelled well. I’ve had my fair share of Authentic Mexican food as it’s my favorite type of food, so I know pretty well what I’m looking for with an understanding that everyone cooks things differently… as much as I hate to say, the flavor isn’t flavoring like it should. Tastes generic/Bland. I thought I’d get more than just one taco. So $14.50 for one chicken huarache with a half bad slice of avocado is kinda steep. The flavor of the chicken just taste like they soaked it in chicken broth while boiling it.. rubbery as well. Not a lick of seasoning on anything. The fried beans were More of a watered down puree. Soup like. The churro was stale/hard. Been out for a while before it was served to me. For some reason, the empanada shell tasted like McDonald’s chicken nugget breading and there was absolutely no seasoning in the empanada stuffing, just boiled chicken and cheese. Doesn’t taste homemade. Overall, it’s something to eat if you’re hungry, but I wouldn’t go out of my way to get it. It tastes rushed and not made with love, so It’s just not for me. I normally don’t go out of my way to write negative reviews, But I’m really disappointed. $30 worth of food that I didn’t even eat. A lot of corners were cut and you can tell by the quality…Maybe they had a bad night or something, I’m not sure but I wouldn’t recommend based off of tonight’s meal.
