Meticulously maintain, and all the cars are running street ready cars. They have exotic from Lamborghinis and Pagani, to track racers, to open wheel racers. The guys there are all car, nuts, too, and full of information. We were able to talk to John Marconi, and she was the wealth of information and shared some fascinating stories about his street racing career. They do do special events where you can rent out the facility for birthday parties, graduations, etc. For me being a car nut and automobile enthusiast, I would love to have my birthday party here and share the experience with my family and Cari Nut friends. There is a station in the back where you can see them restoring a Ferrari. There is the lifts and all the equipment and you can see the restoration going along. There have been many changes to the mission - especially after the pandemic. The East Gate is no longer open. You have to go through the tour to get into the original chapel. Lots of memories as a kid coming here and now I get to bring my 2 year old to make new ones. There have been a lot of updates and new exhibits over the years and refreshes of all the classic exhibits like the dress up stage. We most recently went during the dinosaur exhibit which has tons of dinosaur statues throughout and a Jurassic park style jeep with lots of buttons. It’s very freeing here to be able to let a 2 year old go wild touching most everything in the museum. There is also a farm section with fruit trees, big animal statues, and a house for pretend play. They had a giant light bright board with pegs to make pictures. There was a section to dig for fossils and another that discussed water consumption where all the buttons lit up household appliances in different colors. The big city bus from my childhood was still there that you can climb on. Everything was very clean and there were tons of volunteers resetting each of the little lands as kids moved on to keep things tidy. A few exhibits had been “over-loved” but there was definitely an effort to get them working as well as they could despite the broken pieces. We went at opening on a Saturday and I was expecting big crowds but it did not feel crowded at all - tons of space for the kids to spread out. The museum also has several antique train cars that you can walk through during tour hours but they’re also visible from outside of the building as well as dinosaur statues and a cute playground. My kiddo had such a good time we bought a membership to come back the rest of the year.

Just wanted to express my gratitude towards The Dawson Cole Museum and in particular Jason who made my family feel extremely welcomed during our road trip to Laguna Beach. Not being locals we were particularly excited to come on a weekend of which Laguna holds its annual art walk. To our surprise it was extremely dead in regards to attendance and most galleries closed early that night. We managed to view about four galleries of which we encountered staff who seemed uninterested in engaging with us due to the lack of attendees. Once we reached the Dawson as our last stop the vibe completely changed for the better as we were presented with a great collection of the most unique sculptures and paintings. Jason, who was managing the gallery that night, was extremely inviting and attentive towards my family as he was super enthusiastic to talk about certain pieces. We instantly felt right at home as we were able to not feel the pressure of having to get in and out as quickly as possible. We even got some great recommendations on some local restaurants and bars that we visited that same weekend. I am deeply thankful for the warmth and hospitality of the Dawson Cole team. Thank you so much for making our trip memorable and fun!
