The lighthouse was the main attraction of course and it has signs to let you know how far up and how much further you have left as you climbed it. Once you get to the top the views and breeze are nice. The stairs are very narrow so you have to stop and wait or let people go by sometimes. But it’s not a bad hike at all! The rest of the sites are self guided and in old buildings but are maintained. Most have AC which is where you found the most people with it being so hot. There’s plenty of information and artifacts in each part you entered. Unless you’re stopping to read everything, the tour goes by pretty quickly. I highly suggest bringing water with you if you’re going during the summer months.

There are some quieter areas away from the crowds where you can truly appreciate the natural beauty and watch the alligators in their element. One memorable moment was walking across a bridge when the alligators suddenly let out a loud growl—we didn’t make it all the way across, but it was definitely a unique experience! Now, fair warning: it does smell in quite a few areas, which is to be expected with so many animals and the heat. Just be prepared for that—it’s part of the experience. It was extremely hot the day we went, but thankfully there was an air-conditioned area and a shaded spot (the theater) to cool off. For the adventurous, there’s even a zip line that goes right over the alligators—such a cool feature! Overall, it was a fantastic experience and definitely one for the memory books. I felt like I was walking through the Everglades. All the enclosures were big, beautiful, and well maintained. For a small fort and a tucked away museum, this has one of the nicest and most interactive displays of all the forts in the area. There are videos to watch and colorful, illustrative displays with many artifacts to walk you through the history of the entire area and the fort. The boardwalk through the marsh was nice. This exhibit will only continue to grow, as they plan to build a scaled model re-creation of the fort soon. Not a bad time for two dollars.

You check in at the gift shop and during the hot summer that’s about the only room that has AC. They sell waters there but I recommend bringing your own water bottle because it gets hot. The house is 2 levels and you can scan a QR code or use one of their devices to do a self guided tour with a narration through each room. It was a very hot day so I went through the site pretty quickly. It was amazing to see very old things that have been preserved and just how they utilized what they had way back then. I was coordinating this sunset tour from out of town, and they did an incredible job of responding quickly via text to ensure all of our needs were met as we were a family reunion spanning 3 generations. They offered waters if needed and you were allowed to bring snacks and drinks on board! I definitely would recommend starting your trip off with this as they really knew the area well and were able to explain the best places to visit during your stay! Absolute must do, I really wasn’t expecting that much and they far exceeded our expectations. We will 100% be coming back!

Their Christmas tights are the best. Its very Griswald. Its an old German town. They kinda invented Christmas so. Anyways, the center of the town square where the music and announcements were had poor audio. Please upgrade your sound system. Please play more Christmas music and please have the band playing music at the Governor's Lounge stop playing until the Lighting event is over. We traveled here for christmas stuff not 90s alternative rock. At least jam Christmas music. Me and another dude straight up booed them. I shouted turn it down! Anyway the town it self is super charming. I would consider doing a paid event due to the massive crowds or maybe have more than one tree or lighting event to spread folks around. Again it was super crowded. Also please close the roads off. Did I mention how crowded it was? This chick in a Jeep with no doors almost ran someone over at intersection of the Lighting Museum. I would add street vendors and food carts bc many of the restaurants were all booked up.

The entire crew, Captain Dan, Martin, Emily, and Griffin were phenomenal. We had a smaller headcount on the ship which made it feel even more personal. Sections one and two are covered, but section three is Not covered. If it rains,, you will get wet. The day of our event, there was a storm on its way. We were fortunate, the graduation was over before the rain. There is a small refreshment area. Bathrooms are convenient and they were clean. Parking is challenge. The lot connected to the venue is little. They funnel almost everyone to over flow parking. The Elks Club parking is next door, and this is where we parked.They also shuttle from Anastasia State Park. Very nice Venue, just be ready to be flexible.

This tour is focused on education and conservation, and Captain Kevin was phenomenal! He was incredibly knowledgeable about the history of the city, as well as the local eco system. It is very clear that he is passionate about the preservation of this beautiful, rich ecosystem. We saw SO MANY dolphins, including lots of babies, which was such a treat. I live in Florida, so dolphins are not new to me, but the sheer number we saw last night was absolutely amazing! The company does small group tours, making it much more laid back and relaxing. Many of the other local tours are loud party boats, so being able to avoid the drunk crowds made it so much better. I will DEFINITELY do another tour with this company! HIGHLY recommend!

Another 5 minutes later and the table next to us waitress noticed that we had not even been served water. When our waitress FINALLY arrived after 50 minutes of waiting all she said was that there was a miscommunication. Between the time that we were sat and our waitress showing up at our table 5 other tables had been sat, had their beverages and bread served, and had either ordered their entree or had their entree on the table. At this point we were hungry and ordered the coconut shrimp appetizer (told dairy free). The complimentary bread and alcoholic beverage came out followed by the appetizer. We ordered the shrimp and lobster risotto (not dairy free) and the Honey Dijon Basted Atlantic Salmon (told dairy free) entrees. Coconut shrimp were large. All the food was just okay and not worth the price. Unfortunately the food that was supposed to be dairy free was either cross contaminated or had dairy because we did not have a good next 2 days. No manager stopped by to check on us after the “miscommunication” nor did the waitress offer any type of discount/complimentary meal.

Our food was fantastic and the service was just as good. The first night we didn't get to see the sunset,but after such a great meal we decide to go again. Ended up at same table with same waitress. Aoife our waitress was on top of everything truly made our visit memorable right down to the beautiful sunset. There were plenty of surf and beach shops nearby to grab anything you may have forgotten or would like to buy for your visit to the beach.
