However they must stop squashing as many seats in as possible, which they are at the moment, as this practice is really putting people off going. We visited the other week and the person next to me was basically sitting on my lap - very embarrassing for both of us. The seats were tightly packed in and the heat in the room was quite overwhelming, something that was even commented on by the act on stage. Of course I understand that financially the venue needs to maximize audiences but not at the cost of customer comfort and safety. This issue has been raised on feedback forms before but nothing appears to have been done. Less chairs in each row, a little space between each chair and a working air conditioning unit would make this lovely venue the perfect place to visit.

We booked for a group of 12 at 2pm Saturday. We were asked to provide our meal order the Thursday before which we did. The food took 1hr20 mins to come out and when it did it took 25 mins from the first plate being served until the last. 4 of the meals were wrong, there was no cutlery provided until we asked and some of the food was frozen! We had to ask several times for things and were pretty much ignored. The manager was made aware of the issues and no point came to speak to us instead two young servers were left to do the apologising. We were told one chef got too drunk the night before and therefore they were short staffed in the kitchen. At the end of the meal we asked to speak to the manager and was told he was busy in the kitchen but upon leaving the restaurant he was just stood behind the bar with several other members of staff. Whilst we understand things happen regarding staff shortages the lack of organisation and service was appalling. The fact that it was too much for the manager to take 5 seconds and come and apologise says everything. Attached is a photo of my meal that was £22 and was supposed to be cauliflower steak in fresh parsley, coriander, olive oil, lemon juice and light dressing. Would avoid!!!

A couple of us met for lunchtime drinks and some good food. We had a selection of starters rather than a dish each, and enjoyed sitting out the back which was great, with a great selection of covered and uncovered seating, looks good too. The interior desperately needs updating but I appreciate that it's not a simple, or cheap job, especially in these current times for pubs. The food was generally very good. We had the mussels which were great, and well presented, a great source and some crispy bread. We also had the chicken starter which was nice, with a lot of flavour on the outside of the chicken but not really in the chicken itself, still lovely though. The crispy calamari starter we ordered was more soggy than crispy which was a shame but it was still tasty and portion sizes were good (portion sizes with all the food were good), and some fries which were great. Two pints and plenty of food came to around £28. Overall a very good experience, we enjoyed our time chilling, chatting, eating and drinking. Once again I would like to point out that the customer service was superb, some eateries need to go down there for lessons. I would definitely go back, especially on a nice sunny day or evening.

Never seen the river as high as it is today. Impressive. The bridge on the photo has a memorial in the middle and at the end for those that lost their lives in the Shoreham air disaster. There is also a little cafe type van selling refreshments at the opposite end. A few planks looking desperate for repair. Saw a Labrador type dog extremely unhappy about crossing, head down and crouching, it was certainly glad to get off. Lots going on with roadworks and a new roundabout. Need to pass and return to get to college. Not sure if it's still open to the public. Been back again August 21. Was looking forward to visiting again but it was closed to public. However there is a public footpath and bridleway at the bottom of the road up to the college. Follow the bridleway and there is an excellent view over the airport and out to Shoreham. If you have never seen this place from a distance you have missed some view. It is outstanding. The inside is also well worth a visit, free to do so, a very nice guide in attendance. I recommend having once looked around, you just sit on the benches on the lawn and enjoy the opposite view across the countryside.
