Peaceful & lush with intermittent sea views. Walk up the steps or get the funicular to the summit of E. Hill enter the park then follow the signs to The Glens. The trail starts at the far end of the park and goes all the way to Fire Hills. Varied paths take you through woods and open fields and across the river. Breathtaking sea views but be warned it's seriously up and downy in a few parts with steps down into the glen and up the other side. A great workout and more rewarding the further you go, around 8-10 miles there and back. Absolutely worth the effort though. Benches and good signage along the way. If you're craving a bit of green this is the place to go without having to get in the car.

There is free parking available although we walked up the hill from the seafront which was only a short walk. The staff were very friendly and helpful and entrance was free. Whilst at the museum, we visited the History of Hastings exhibit, the Agatha Christie exhibit and the permanent collections. What an absolute pleasure it was to wander around and to see such a varied and interesting selection of items. There was lots of written information, laid out in a way that made it interesting and enjoyable to read. Everything flowed really well and we felt able to take our time and really enjoy the experience. Although we didn't have any children with us, it was clear that the museum have really thought about how to engage children in the experience, providing lots of interactive elements, play areas and a huge range of books. I would definitely recommend a visit to anyone visiting Hastings and we would return again if passing, especially for new exhibits.

Definitely not worth a day trip in our opinion. It isn't situated near town so if you're parking in town and plan to walk up, it is a long trek especially uphill too. We were lucky to walk in and get a table - booking recommended - for an excellent meal on Hastings Old Town seafront. Managed by English Heritage, it's worth getting an annual membership for entry, and free parking nearby. (Use your membership card to validate the parking. There is a footpath made of small pebble chippings, and it's not too difficult to walk on. The footpath around the site is quite lengthy; however there are quite a number of benches along the longest section, so it's not too bad for those with reduced mobility. And were suprised by the size of the grounds, all the buildings and all the things to discover. We've spent many hours here in the end. A real highlight on this years Road Trip through the UK. Parked right next to on the official carpark. Fixed price of 4£ was a fair deal (free for members). We bought tickets online before and there was next to no wait to enter. The Battle of Hastings, fought on 14 October 1066, is one of the best-known events in England’s history, when William of Normandy defeated the army of King Harold of England. William the Conqueror founded Battle Abbey. The abbey thrived as a Benedictine monastery for over 400 years, and after its suppression in 1538 the abbot’s lodging was transformed into a grand country house. Exploring the Abbey is a great and fun thing to do. There's so much history to read and to take in here. You can go to the top as well, enjoying the views. Or go explore every corner there is - you might find the old toilet here as well (it's named "garderobe"). After enjoying history at the Abbey we walked on the grounds. Checking out the Ice and Dairy House, the King Harold and High Altar Memorial and the Crypt. And a quick look at the walled garden. Then went onto the Battelfield. If you don't have an audio guide, you still can read all the info plates along the way. Really well done and informative. And the walk around the battlefield is a pretty one. With some wildlife as well. We did have our Bulldog with (and a pet stroller) without problems. Just the first section has some steps, after that it's pretty stroller-friendly. Then in the end we've visited the old Abbey ruins. Again: very impressive architecture. We had a great day here. There's so much to see and to do. Of course there's also a shop, a restaurant, a food truck and toilets. Some games for kids as well. A fantastic visit. And surely not to be missed. A must-do.

The service is very friendly. We went for the bacon chop option which was a superbly elevated take on gammon and eggs and was truly delicious. We were VERY pleased that we went here. The menu was small which surprised my wife. However the food was AMAZINGLY tasty and well prepared and presented. I had the Venison Sausages with a Whole Carrot a Cassoulet of Lentils and Kale with deep fried Kale as well. The cassoulet was VERY tasty and with the added texture and taste of the deep fried kale (similar in texture to deep fried seaweed) and the Carrot was excellent. Now the Venison sausage is VERY, VERY good, but the skin on the 2nd sausage was a bit chewy to eat, so I removed ALL the venison and ate every bit of the venison filing as well as clearing my plate of everything but the bit of sausage skin. My wife had Onion Tarte tatin with bitter endive leaves served with a Caper and Walnut dressing with Grated Cheese on top. Overall we were Overwhelmed at just how good the food was. The beer is good too and I had a non alcoholic drink which included Angostura bitters and fruit juices which was very good. If we lived in the area, we would visit this independent pub every week at least. It was starting to get busy and most tables were booked but I was able to grab a space and enjoy a really good fish finger sandwich. Didn’t take long to come out, the chips were banging, the sandwich it self was one of the best fish finger sandwiches I’ve had! We came for a few drinks but decided to stay for dinner. Run an owner by one of the most humble human beings in hastings according to me. He owner will welcome you by bowing towards you and every time she sees you off she does he same, she comes in and checks often on how he food is and makes things on special request if necessary. The staff is a small one and he one who waited on me was extremely sweet and welcoming as well. I can’t emphasise enough on how cozy and comfortable this cafe is. If you’re someone who loves books and Thai food trust me you have to come here! It would be a terrible if you missed this amazing spot with fantastic food. Moving towards the food: It starts off with the generous helping of prawn crackers with the homemade sweet sauce and a little tangy and sweet sauce, super fresh and not fishy smelling at all which I was happy about. For starters I ordered the mango salad and satay chicken, I can still taste that amazing sauce on my tongue , the peanut sauce was the perfect portion for the chicken and it was in a marinade so perfectly matched. For the mains I ordered the green Thai curry which was quite okay but I wouldn’t highly recommend it, I preferred the stir fry chicken with Thai basil and veggies which was yummy. Watch out for Pad Thai as it is super addictive to have, there is no such thing as just one bite, the meat is perfectly cooked the balance of the flavours was fantastic, I was impressed by this Pad Thai. For the dessert, I was initially quite skeptical about ordering anything but the sticky rice and mango, but they had a lemon tart with a simple homemade vanilla ice cream , I am someone who is quite weak in he knees for a good lemon tart, I kid you not, this was probably one of the best I’ve had from an Asian restaurant, it was bitter but the ice cream perfectly complimented it. I was just so thankful in that moment because it was too good to be true. I highly recommend this café. They usually have 4 of their own ales on hand pump. The food is absolutely fantastic too, with a regularly changing menu and also food theme nights. The oddities collection inside is really quite amazing, with uniquely interesting artifacts, novelties, and historic pieces from all over the world. The owners are very friendly and welcoming, there's an audio guide to walk round with, and some lovely interactive touches that add to the fun. This brilliant and well put together is a must when you are in town. It is great couple of hours with a very informative audio guide to explain each piece. We had a great time with surprises around each corner. We spent about 45 minutes in the museum exploring and much more time in the bar! Family of 4. What a place this turned out to be all of us loved it. That's the short version. Bizarre BUT True caught my interest when looking for something different to do in one of our favourite seaside locations. I like quirky things and this definitely ticked all of the boxes. The venue itself is elusively hidden in a small area just off the main shopping area. I'll be honest I didn't pay much attention to that until after our visit. More on that at the end. We were entertained in the venue by the owners and were lucky to have been the only visitors at that time so we had the place to ourselves for the majority of the time. After an introduction to what we would see on our visit we were left to follow the audio tour by ourselves. The exhibits were amazing! The stories behind them, told by the audio guide, kept me wanting more. I won't spoil it by talking about any of them in particular because I wouldn't want to find out everything that was there from reading a review myself. Let's just say there are some very unique exhibits that will blow you away. Including one that was very thought provoking. If you are looking for something different todo, at a cost that won't break the bank, hosted by wonderful people then look no further. It was clear from speaking with the owners, that so much passion and energy has gone into the place. We look forward to coming back soon. We will be back, the location that Bizarre BUT True is situated in is undergoing some changes and very exciting ones at that. I cannot wait to return and see all of the latest things that are there.
