We decided to book a one night stay. Upon arrival, I immediately noticed the exterior seemed to lack some general maintenance. It didn’t seem to be as appealing as previously observed. Once we entered the front foyer area, we were greeted by a very friendly woman, who directed us to the check in area. The inn keeper was friendly as well and very informative. He kindly suggested an upgrade to our room that would allow more space. We accepted. We unloaded our belongings in our room and left to go shopping. However we were Disappointed in the ham and biscuits; a dinner roll with dry ham shavings. The oysters Rockefeller were good but average at best. We decided on dinner based on the guest seated behind us enjoying a prime rib dinner that looked delicious. We were taken to beautiful dining area. Which at first seemed to be OK, however, it was awkwardly quiet, even amongst the two other tables that were seated near us. They’re definitely needs to be some type of music playing in the dining room. We asked to sit back in the bar area and continue with dinner service. Our server was great! Prime rib and shrimp and grits were ordered and at first taste so good. However, both dishes ended up being highly over seasoned the more we ate. The flavor was good but definitely doesn’t need so much salt/ spice. But what was really disappointing was the ambience. We noticed every light, even the foyer chandelier, had bright white led bulbs, all turned up way too high, which made the dining and bar area lack the charming colonial & cozy vibe. When settling in our room for the evening. The furniture lacked appeal & seemed to be worn. Quite a few areas on the walls that needed repair and fresh paint. We were annoyed to find the vents in the bedroom were not properly vented so that the air conditioning could reach us. It was extremely hot and so uncomfortable for sleeping. We tried to lower the ac but found it to be locked at a set temperature. We had to sleep with a fan on. Which left us stuffed up. Not the sleeping experience we anticipated at an inn of this caliber. As we walked downstairs the next morning to check out, we found that we were the only ones there. Literally…no staff at all. No where to leave our key, no instructions, no one to give us our receipt. We also wanted to voice our concerns with the AC. We left…disappointed. We also noticed even more disrepair outside. Overall, we weren’t pleased with our stay. It was average at best. It could be such a charming place to dine and stay with just a few small changes that would make a huge impact. We did enjoy our breakfast at the eatery down the street and our server there was outstanding!

The atmosphere has a vintage vibe, quite a beautiful mix of modern and vintage, complete with a tiny store of meats, sweets, and do dad's, as well as an open kitchen concept. The manager and staff were wonderful, attentive, knowledgeable, and accommodating to my 23 month old baby. Overall this is one of the best restaurants that I have been to in the last year! That is saying a lot because I eat out frequently and I live in one of the country's foodie capitals, Charleston, SC.

Smithfield Farmers Market is not a farmers market, it is a craft and drop/ship market. Out of all the vendors available on the day we went, only three sold anything remotely resembling items derived from a farm. To detail, there was one truck selling herbs and potted vegetables, there was a table selling mushrooms, and a small stand selling dairy, eggs, and meat, an additional table tucked towards the back sold bread. The market should not be advertised as a Farmers Market in any way. Although this review is specifically for this market, this seems to have become the norm with other "farmers" markets as well. That being said, the positives and the only reason this received two stars after a half an hour drive to the location, was because the parking was comfortable and plentiful, the live music was lovely and the layout was easy to navigate (in all of five minutes). I understand that vendors are posted on the website etc., a fact I discovered after attending and being very confused as to the "farmers" part of the name. Never the less, this should not in any way be viewed as a farmers market, rather a market for anyone to sell anything with some farm product available. If you are looking to enjoy the day and have a lovely walk and have no intentions of vegetable shopping then this market is for you. If, like myself, you are looking for farm produce, vegetables, fruits, and the like then look elsewhere.

The facility was hosting two other parties from 2pm to 430pm. The facility closes at 430. Each party is supposed to have a party room for 45 minutes. Overall, I would highly suggest having your child's birthday somewhere else. I walked in and, as to be expected, I was attacked by scents. This is definitely not a complaint, there wasn’t a bad scent. The same woman followed us up the steps and stood at the exact table we were at "pretending" to fix the soaps as the other staff stood at the bottom of the steps watching us, staring in my sisters face. I would like to mention there was a Caucasian woman already shopping in the store when we walked in and was not at a visual vantage point where the staff could have seen what she was doing. Yet, she was not surrounded by the staff. My sister and I noticed what was happening. We immediately felt uncomfortable and left. If you are going to target Black people because you do not want them in your establishment, you succeeded. If you are training your employees about loss prevention, do a better job so they are not targeting people just because they are "Black". Also, learn to notice signs of a shoplifter, which I am 100% certain we showed none of. Also, do not make it so grossly obvious, because it is extremely offensive to a person who is honestly trying to patronize your establishment. Racial profiling will never be acceptable and will not aid in your loss prevention efforts. I am so disgusted that my family and I were treated in such a manner. This was not acceptable and I hope you do better as an establishment and those young ladies educate themselves.

Loop 2, to the left when entering, leads to the mini skatepark, the river view path and to the hill, and finally loops back to the parking lot. The river is not directly visible from the park, but is only a short 5-10 minute, super easy hike, branching off from loop 2 before reaching the hill. You can keep it short or you CAN turn it into a 3 mile hike/jogg (just along the river itself) You decide how far you go :) There are Benches in between for resting/ enjoying the view.
