The chairlift ride from Thredbo is pretty expensive, but a terrific experience in itself. Lately I have grown a bit tired of the chaos that exists skiing in the resorts and so backcountry skiing was something I’d been thinking about. The follow up information and communication was outstanding and included a fitness plan. The first day not even a blizzard could stop us as we headed to the protection of the trees, we got many tips on skiing in these conditions and terrain on the way up. Drinking cacao with a cool bunch of women beside giant rocks in wild weather after climbing up Dead Horse Gap was so so cool!. The ski down in the fluffiest snow I’ve ever been in, amongst the snow gums, getting tips and fun chats along the way by our expert guides Chess and Lew, including being helped up after sinking into the glorious fluffy snow and cheered on by these incredible people will just stick with me for a long time. The K7 ski guides Chess, Lew and content creator Divya communicated and checked in, made sure we were warm, and carried extra gear in case of need. Logistics queen Leah made sure everything else back at the lodge was perfect. The retreat catered to the group’s different interests and experience, offering snowshoeing, hardcore ski touring and for those like me who on a healing journey just wanted to ski and be.
