The view is spectacular and the place is awash in pink and stone, feeling homely and rustic despite being a huge 5 level sprawling complex replete with a pool club. I’m not a pool club guy but it’s so nice you could twist my arm, the pools yes several on diff levels look right at Mt Batur and the open expanse. starting at 200k to swim - this comes with the same value food voucher so it’s basically free haha. The coffee was great no complaints and the latte came in the 3/4 glass I’m used to as a Syd coffee snob. And I had the salmon on mash which was actually a very complex meal well balanced with 2 poached eggs mushrooms and some garnishes and crunch in a coconut sauce that tasted much like a balanced version of the yellow curries on the island. It has chilli obviously not for those who can’t take it but it’s not hot. I’ll be back for sure - just read this and want to say I was not paid just pleasantly surprised but the experience and recommend you should all go.

There seems to be a fair few competitors along this road, and we only had chance to visit El Lago since we were just passing through, so I'm not sure how it compares to the alternatives. That being said, El Lago seems to be one of the only options that specialize in Japanese cuisine. Unfortunately, we attended quite early in the morning so we weren't able to try some of the great sounding Japanese options on the main menu. However, the breakfast menu options were still really great and fairly priced. Despite the café being quite busy when we attended, the service was still very fast and the staff were friendly and attentive. We will certainly be visiting again if passing and hopefully we can try some of the sushi options, which I'm sure are fantastic, judging by the quality of the breakfast options.

From Denpasar it's located on the right side of the road; I kept looking for the green roof to pin point it. There are three storeys on the cafe, but it seemed that only 2 floors were designated to welcome guests. The top floor was partly carpeted and there were beanbags to relax on. The main floor has a long couch on the deck with some chairs facing the lake. The indoor area contains a few sets of dining tables. There are seatings on the bottom floor actually, but it looked like it was used as storage. The cafe serves western, asian, and local cuisines. The portion was quite generous and overall they tasted good.They also serve manual brew coffee as well as espresso machine coffee. The waiters and waitresses were friendly and organized. Despite the breathtaking view of Mount and Lake Batur, the cafe wasn't crowded on a Sunday; which was good for us .. 😁
