We picked this restaurant based on the high ratings as we were looking for a location for a celebratory meal. The steak was nice, reasonably cooked, but unfortunately a little bit tougher than I would expect for an eye fillet. We have visited a number of mid-range and high end steak restaurants and competitively unfortunately, the Black Cow didn't stack up against our favourites. The mushrooms and beans for the side dishes were quite nice, but the best side was definitely the potato galette that came with he steak. The bread was delicious, but of course you can't really go wrong there. It did take a while for the meals to come out, which wasn't that surprising given how busy the restaurant was. Service was fantastic, and this is primarily why I'm giving a 4 star rating instead of a 3.

I have always enjoyed Ellie May's jacket potatoes, they have a strong selection of toppings and many salads to chose from. I have never been disappointed with my potatoes but there is room for improvement, especially in the displace of the final product. Ellie May's is a strong contender for best baked potatoes in Launceston. Unfortunately, there are some downfalls, in my most recent visits the customer service has taken a noticeable fall, with what seems to be a genuine dis-interest in serving me a potato. Another unfortunate knock on from the staff morale is the lack of labels on the various salads options, and to when I enquired about the salads contents, I had a swift response of, "Sicilian", which not only did not answer my question nor aid in my knowledge what-so-ever. To summarise my review, I have always had a delicious baked potato on each of my visits and I have not been disappointed with flavours and freshness, the various salad options give a big plus to the mouth-feel and texture of the dish. As well as the variety giving a good repeat service to try them all. Unfortunately, there are some down falls. The menu's font is hard to read and set out in a peculiar way which can often lead to confusion. This paired with the lacklustre staff and unknown salads can lead to an awkward ordering experience and can sometimes not end up with what you wanted. Despite all this they are some fantastic potatoes and a contender for best in Launceston.

I ordered the toasted sourdough entrée and the eye fillet main. Unfortunately my main came before my starter and I had to request it when the main was delivered. I ordered the steak medium rare and despite it looking good was very tough. I am not sure what was done to it to make it so tough, it took me three to four cuts each time to cut through it. I always think going to a restaurant you get little for what you pay. Not at Diverge. The restaurant showcases local Tasmanian grown cuisine. We ordered an entree of the pork/chicken dumplings which were seasoned very well and not dry with a lovely dumpling skin which was steamed perfectly, the sauce that accompanied was well balanced and perfect with the dumplings. Main course was a delight, the best pork chop ive ever had the privilege of tasting, was sous vide cooked then char glazed in a beautiful char sui sauce which was exceptional in its balance of sweetness. The end was an amazing sticky date pudding that my partner who steers away from sweet desserts fell in love with. Overall 10/10 food experience, well done chef.

The food for all meals was stand out the people working in the restaurant so lovely our only complaint came on the final night. At 7.30 on a Thursday night we were turned away because they were closing early with no pre warning that this would be the case. Utterly disappointed this was the end to our stay. Probably the biggest let down of Tassie is the unreliability of venues to be open to be open when they say they will be.
