We spent a wonderful week at Patricia and Christophe's beautiful La Maison Bastide on the right bank (rîve droite). Very calm and quiet neighbourhood , it's a short walk accross Pont de Pierre to the heart of Bordeaux, tram nearby and transport is very good value - far cheaper than Ìreland, as is eating out. Ann, who welcomed us initially, was lovely and gave us really helpful tips and information. Patricia's homemade yogurts and jams at breakfast add that extra touch. She even helped us use the tram which proved to be the only way to travel. Our king bed rooms were immaculate, spacious and beautifully decorated pulling in the best of the old and new world. We slept like babies after a long day of sightseeing. Amazing hot showers in the morning and a delicious homemade breakfast served by their lovely trainee. The croissants, baguettes and homemade jams and yogurt were heavenly. Honestly my friends and I said we would come to Bordeaux again just to stay here! Best bed & breakfast ever!! A must stay!! I chose the hotel for its history and setting.. The main complaint is the lack of attention to details: my elegant balcony room didn't have a kettle despite asking for one. There was a heatwave when we checked in, and during the very pleasant check-in process, Nafissa offered us two glasses of water while we checked-in. I booked a single room which was on the top floor (there is a lift 👍) and whilst compact it still felt spacious due to the clever arrangement of furnishings, storage and shower, toilet etc. As this was at the height of the heatwave in Bordeaux the a/c in the room was fab! It was also very economical. I did a lot of research and am I ever glad we picked this hotel. Firstly, the reception was outstanding. When we had breakfast, we asked if we could eat in the outside courtyard (despite being a bit on the chilly side). The owner made a special effort to set the table for us, plus he brought out cushions for the sitting area just for us. Food was fresh and there was a really good variety. I had a single room, which was on the small size, but I was only sleeping there, so it was fine. It was very clean & quiet, and well laid out. Bed was comfortable. My sister & husband had a bigger room and it was gorgeous! We were off to a river cruise later the following day, & it was no problem for the staff to safely store our luggage while we explored more of Bordeaux. Many things are walkable from this hotel, and it is in a very safe, higher end neighbourhood. Don’t hesitate to book this unique boutique hotel with character, charm, and great staff. I don’t think you’ll find a better hotel for this price. If we are ever in Bordeaux again, this will be our hotel, hands down.

We were not disappointed with the one we chose! The room was clean, comfortable and charming.
