Cité du Vin is a cutting-edge wine museum housed in a striking curved aluminum and glass structure in Bordeaux. It offers interactive displays, guided tours, and tastings to educate visitors about the history and production of wine globally. The museum's modern design reflects the swirling motion of both the adjacent Garonne River and wine in a glass. With themed routes and multimedia exhibits, it explores wine's impact on history, geography, culture, and civilization.
Extremely well done - highly informative and interactive, incorporating all of the senses! You can learn as little or as much as you'd like, but one can easily spend a few hours here. The tasting (with 13 different wines from which to choose) on the top floor with beautiful views was icing on the cake on a beautiful summer's day. There is non-alcoholic options as well! Very well air-conditioned, so going in the heat of the afternoon during the heat dome was a huge relief as well! This is a must-visit while in Bordeaux, even if you don't like wine.

Hard to fault this place. I visited around 6 years ago and it’s only got better. A comprehensive tale of world wine history. A good tasting on the 8th floor featuring international wines. I tried a Swiss wine that was new to me. There are lockers to hold bags as you wander. Excellent easy to use audio guide. A good Bodega. Prices are not crazy they cater for all tastes.
Craig T — Google review
La Cité du Vin is an absolute must-visit in Bordeaux — more than a museum, it’s a full sensory journey into the world of wine. The interactive exhibits are beautifully designed, combining history, culture, and tasting experiences in a modern, engaging way. You can easily spend hours exploring and still discover something new. The architecture itself is stunning, with its flowing, glassy curves reflecting the Garonne. Don’t miss the panoramic tasting room at the top — the view is spectacular. A brilliant tribute to wine culture, innovation, and pleasure.
Natalia B — Google review
LOVED this amazing museum!! It had the most immersive experience including aroma generator technology that I did not know existed. You can smell the aromas of a myriad of scents that are produced from wines, cognac, liquors, and champagne. And the production, service, and industry is covered at great detail. Fun for everyone of all ages. And the ticket provides for two samples on the 8th floor with spectacular views! The restaurant food is excellent, with both vegetarian and meat, seafood offerings. The desserts are amazing! Love the model and the story behind this innovative museum created from a competition around 2010.
Shafi K — Google review
Cité du Vin wine museum offers a fascinating journey through the history and culture of winemaking. The exhibits are well-curated, blending tradition with interactive displays. It’s the perfect place for wine enthusiast. After the exhibits, you can go to the 8th floor to enjoy a panoramic view of the Garonne river in Bordeaux while tasting your favourite wine.
Yash V — Google review
Highly recommended to visit! They share wine knowledge in a fun and interactive way. You can easily spend 2–3 hours there without even noticing the time. A super interesting place if you love wine! We went on a Monday, and it was still fairly busy. Probably best to avoid weekends!
HYE S — Google review
For wine lovers, this museum experience is A+++, even for those who know most about wine. What impressed me the most about this museum outside of its design was the amount of information available if you were interested. The history of wine making around the world, highlighting unique wine making regions of the world, then ending off with a few glasses of unique wines all made for a great experience.
Kyle L — Google review
I actually preferred the Musée du Vin et du Négoce de Bordeaux. It was more historic and personable The exhits here are lots of quite lengthy videos. Would take hours to see everything and I am not sure it would keep someone's attention

Base sous-marine, a former World War II submarine base in Bordeaux, was established by German and Italian forces to house U-Boats during the war. Today, it has been transformed into a cultural center hosting various performances, exhibitions, and events. The location on the Right Bank adds to its offbeat charm for travelers seeking something unique.
An amazing experience! Mind blowing and most definitely worth a visit! I was simply blown away, as was the rest of my group. If you're in Bordeaux, it's a must-see! I guarantee you will not be disappointed

Great form to make use out of war buildings! We loved the installation. I would have wished for a bit more insights into the history of and details about the bunker itself. There were 4 info texts at the end but I would have liked to know a bit more.
Karla B — Google review
Immersive experience. Exhibition was on Egypt and Pharaohs. Small section on the history of the submarine base. Perhaps a separate larger section on this would be a good addition..
Mark E — Google review
Intelligent use of the space, good to see they created smaller areas to allow in the round feel Takes your time.
Keith R — Google review
This was a top experience! Pre-booked the tickets so entry was quick and easy. The art looks brilliant cast on the walls and reflected off the water. It's really impactful and immersive. The music playing in the background perfectly suits the images and tone. We saw the Dutch painters, and loved it! Very innovative and engaging way of viewing art. Practical points: the website says it gets cold. Not in the summer...its quite toasty in there but imagine in winter you will need a coat. It's dark...takes some adjusting to. The history of the submarine base is towards to end, make sure you don't miss it. We went round again to watch the start of the exhibit we liked the best.
Lindsay G — Google review
Amazing and surreal! Quite sobering to think what it was built for! A must see 😀
Chris W — Google review
Our visit to the Bassin des Lumières was a mesmerizing fusion of art, light, and history, set within the hauntingly atmospheric space of Bordeaux’s former submarine base. The transformation of this massive, industrial structure into a canvas for immersive digital art was nothing short of spectacular. As masterpieces danced across the water and concrete walls, we were enveloped in a sensory experience that felt both intimate and grand. The scale, creativity, and emotion of the show were breathtaking, making it one of the most unique and unforgettable cultural experiences we’ve ever had.

From Primark, to Rituals, The Body Shop, Sephora, Mango etc. Lots of food and drink options too - It's definitely worth a visit We also discovered a HUGE supermarket inside, which had anything you could imagine! French restaurant
Located on the seventh floor of the Cite du Vin, Le 7 Restaurant offers a modern and elegant setting with breathtaking views of Bordeaux and the Garonne river. The restaurant features floor-to-ceiling windows that provide an excellent backdrop for enjoying innovative French cuisine. Executive chef Bruno Grand-Clement, known for his experience at renowned establishments like the Jules Verne restaurant at the Eiffel Tower, curates a gourmet experience.
We were probably the only diners not drinking wine, but we had an absolutely perfect lunch. Such good value and presented artistically. You don't need to visit the museum... just go up to the 7th floor in the lift. Beautiful view, too.
Suzi J — Google review
This place is amazing. The view is great, the food tastes marvellous, service is attentive and caring. We went three times throughout the years and I'm still amazed that the quality remains the same as it was when it opened. They now offer an interesting lunch deal as well which makes it more accessible than before. We definitely recommend trying it if you are in Bordeaux.
V S — Google review
Le 7 is a beautiful setting. We had view of the vertical lift bridge ( Pont Jacques Chaban-Delmas) and our timing was such that the bridge was lifted to allow a cruise ship to pass. All of the foods were good but not exceptional. We had the risotto which was the special of the day. It was interesting to have risotto with Asian sesame flavored sauce. It worked well. We also had the lamb and the chicken. Everything was beautifully presented. For desserts, we had the tomato and the strawberry with meringue. The tomato was exquisite to look at. The yellow tomato sorbet that came with it was a nice savory balance to the sweetness of white chocolate (and pretty bland red tomato center). The meringue was exactly what you’d want for a summer berry dessert. It tasted ripe and fresh, a great balance of flavors and texture. Service was good at Le 7. We had a 1pm reservation and finished just in time for our 2:30 wine workshop.
Fei M — Google review
I gave the restaurant and service one star only because I couldn’t give it zero. We all know places that rely solely on their location and view to coast by on mediocrity, but this is much, much worse. Le 7 feels like they are actively choosing to single-handedly solve the problem of over-tourism by providing not just indifferent service, but active hostility and loathing. And that’s to say nothing of the food which is an all-out insult to French gastronomy. There does not seem to be an actual kitchen, but pre-prepares meals that are warmed up in a microwave. How else could you explain having our group of six send multiple plates back barely touched and not a sole noticing or bothering to ask what was wrong. I have had better prepared Asparagus on an airline. Please do yourself a favor and avoid this place like the plague. You can find a good view in many other places, and in Bordeaux you can find a great meal in a myriad of places. But in Le 7 you will only find regret.

Very nice atmosphere, nice stuff beautiful place to have breakfast and enough space to work

Cool atmosphere in Darwin neighborhood. Huge place divided in different areas where you can go for a drink or take food. There is also an outside area full of lights at night. The staff is professional al thought there is no table service as usually known. We tried hamburgers and they were delicious.

Amazing place to hang out anytime. Love to go with family, friends or just by myself. Thank you Darwin for creating such a beautiful vibrant atmosphere
Gilbert B — Google review
Great atmosphere, the venue is very cool and it's surrounded by local art, skaters and graffiti. Had lunch at the self-service restaurant because the main restaurant closes before 14:00 (a bit disappointed). Everything is bio, sustainable and vegan friendly (hence the high prices). Big space but very busy, a bit unsatisfied with the staff. Food was good.
Lidia C — Google review
We went for brunch here. It's about the closest to an American style brunch I've had. All u can eat. Good assortment of freshly made with variety of drinks (alcohol extra). Not haut cuisine, (think quantity not quality) but fair at 24€. Urban eco style with rehabbed couches and pallets makes for a cool ambience. Get reservations a week in advance. Very locals place.
Rob G — Google review
Other than coffee everything was good.
Shubhesh S — Google review
Although I love Darwin and the concept, they definitely have to look into their kitchen and what they offer to people! I’ve tried the brunch one time and was tasteless and expensive, then I gave it a second chance with a lunch... same thing and now just had 2 pièces of uncooked and tasteless very heavy quiche with some “organic chips” that were completely off and paid 12€ for it. I will definitely not come back to eat any of what they propose as it’s overrated, not tasty and lacks of love!
Blancabertely — Google review
Good chilling spot by Darwin's. Pizza and plat du jour were good. Cookies are really good. Really 3.5 stars as two guys behind the front counter are rude.

Hostel
Located in an elegant building, Hostel 20 is an unpretentious adults-only hostel offering a terrace, lounge, and free Wi-Fi. Situated in the city center, it's just a short walk from Bordeaux's main attractions and restaurants. The 18th-century building offers shared dorms starting at around $34 per night. Guests praise the friendly manager and staff, as well as the clean and useful community spaces with activities like foosball and music instruments.
Wonderful location right next to tram station which made for easy transport. Staff were extremely hospitable and so accommodating, had many a wonderful conversation with multiple different staff members who all gave me the time of day with a smile on their face. Beds were comfortable and spacious enough for an hostel, curtains provided complete privacy. Only minor flaw was the lockers were a bit small which meant I couldn’t fit my entire bag, really not that big of a deal.
Ilai C — Google review
Hostel 20 is well located in the quiet and safe historic Chatrons district of Bordeaux close to tram and bus stops and between the main TGV train station St Jean and the Cite du Vin. Dorms have comfortable beds, privacy curtains and air con. The shower is ensuite. The head room is limited in the 3 tier bunks. WiFi is strong and dependable in the downstairs lobby and kitchen. The kitchen is spacious with plenty of room in the large fridge. Best of all are your welcoming hosts: Emma and Hugo. They make Hostel 20 so very special!
Lawrence M — Google review
Super nice and friendly receptionist, rooms were clean, location is great, close to the city center and well connected by tram. The bike rack inside of the lobby is basically under supervision all the time, so I can definitely recommend the place for any bikepackers looking for some rest and a shower.
Nuno S — Google review
Avoid this hostel! We were a group of five and made a reservation under one's name. Upon arrival, we simply wanted to split the total cost between the five of us. The man at the reception completely messed up the amounts, charging each of us a different price without any clear explanation. The facilities were dirty, the internet didn’t work at all, and overall the place felt uncomfortable and unwelcoming. To make matters worse, at the end of our stay, a different man claimed we still owed more money, creating confusion and tension among us. Unprofessional and disorganized — absolutely unacceptable!
Eleana V — Google review
The location is great and the staff is friendly. There’s options to eat with oder guests for a cheap priced dinner. It’s easy to meet a other travelers. The room was okay. There is air conditioning. You should definitely bring your own lock with you. The downside was that there was only one toilet and only one shower for a lot of people of different dormateries to share. They weren’t really good either. There wasn’t any soap in the bathroom. Also the Wifi only worked in the lobby which was a really big downside for me.
Sophie F — Google review
It is a Very Friendly Place, in Summer probably best to book, 2022 it cost €20 per night, self catering dining area too, cycle heaven...

Le Cent 33 is a sought-after restaurant located in the trendy Chartons district of Bordeaux. Chef Fabien Beaufour curates an ever-evolving menu using top-quality produce from trusted suppliers, offering dishes like soft crab with coconut milk and lemon balm or roasted deer loin with beetroots and blackberries. Influenced by his international culinary experience, Beaufour incorporates a Japanese robata into many of his creations.
IG: @melvineateat 9.5/10 One of the best fine dining experience and meal I’ve had in Bordeaux. From the starters made from egg yolk to even the salad with frozen cheese and herbal infused oil, or the mains with a play on coconut and crab, the innovation behind it, the taste and balance were just amazing. Dessert were exceptional too, savoury yet sweet, service was top notch and recommendations of wines were also done very well

Le Cent 33 in Bordeaux offers an exceptional dining experience. The cuisine is outstanding, with each dish showcasing meticulous preparation and exquisite flavors. The wine pairings are thoughtfully selected, complementing the menu beautifully. The service is attentive and professional, enhancing the overall experience. However, during my visit, I noticed that some staff members had noticeable body odor, which detracted from the otherwise pleasant atmosphere. Addressing this issue would elevate the dining experience to match the high standards of the food and service.

Wow—this was my favorite restaurant in Bordeaux! For a Michelin-star spot, it’s surprisingly affordable. The food was absolutely amazing, from the presentation to the flavors—everything was spot on. The service was excellent, and the ambiance made the experience even better. I 100% want to come back!

I had read about Le Cent 33 in a "best of" list of Bordeaux restaurants, and the staff did not disappoint! My wife and I opted for the four-course meal with wine pairings and it was sublime. Particularly good was the artichoke opening course and arctic char second course. My wife said the "honey & hay" dessert was one of the best she has had, and we've had a lot of great restaurant meals. The staff also deserves recognition. They were incredible friendly and welcoming. We especially liked the wine presentation (and found a new favorite Bordeaux red--Chateau Haut-Bergey). Lastly, the night we visited a two-piece jazz ensemble provided an extra dose of relaxed atmosphere, made even more special when the chef joined in! Highly recommended!

What an unforgettable experience we had at Cent Trente Trois. Every dish showcased the freshest seasonal ingredients, with the spring salad and asparagus entrée standing out as particular highlights. The creativity of the kitchen truly impressed us, from the trompe l'œil orange amuse-bouche to the playful champagne sorbet with its subtle fizz, and the unexpected yet perfect pairing of peanut butter with asparagus. Each course felt like a delightful surprise, and the thoughtfully curated wine pairing, plus a bold addition of sake, made the entire meal feel like a joyful culinary adventure. A heartfelt bravo to the inventive chef and the gracious, charming team of servers who clearly took pride in delivering such a memorable dining experience.
