I walked into Kawa (the storefront) with this grocery in back. Firstly, the shop is wickedly cool, with hand-crafted local artistry jewelry, raw-edged bowls, souvenirs, and so much more. But then you get to the back, tucked away and a bit hidden. It's a treasure trove of hard-to-find Asian, Mexican, and bits-an-bobs which I haven't seen since I lived on the border in southern California (San Diego). Mexican hot chocolate, Tapatio hot sauce, dark soy sauce, spices galore, authentic tortillas and chips, retired beans, and, bless them, canned tomatillos (which I'm making salsa verde from). I'll be back, because you're a bit of the hometown that I can't find anywhere else. By the way, staff is awesome too. Helpful, funny, and witty. I shopped there twice in a day, once in the morning and once in the evening. I can't recommend this place enough!
