Taylor L, the manager on shift, was our server and was short with us off the bat, rude and rolled her eyes at my girlfriend, condescending to us when we asked questions, and not very present during the meal. She also only brought enough water for 1/3 of the table at first, then we had to prompt her every single time we needed more. We felt pressured to order when we weren't quite ready yet, and after we did she got my girlfriend's order wrong (which happens I get it), but when the food came out and we brought the error to her attention, she blatantly rolled her eyes and accused my girlfriend of saying the wrong thing. (She said the correct entrée, and most of our party of 11 heard the correct thing, so it wasn't just a misspeak). The food was horrible. My chicken sandwich had the tiniest portion of chicken on it, which was extremely overcooked. The fries for the whole party tasted as if they had been out of the fryer and under the food warmers for at least 30 minutes, the were dry, flavorless, and unseasoned. My dad's fish & chips were just as bad, the fish was extremely greasy, overcooked, and small portions as well. The rest of the tables were just as bad. Overall a horrible dining experience and we will absolutely not be back. I would advise staying away.

Food was good and came quickly, wine was also good but would love to see a revamped bar menu and some more fun appetizer options. I LOVED the hash browns and my husband said the French toast was amazing! The staff were super friendly and kept our drinks full. They certainly get their steps in. The atmosphere being loud is my only issue, but it was packed the whole time we were there so very understandable. We would definitely return. The prices are very reasonable as well. We have been trying for over 4 years. We frequent the lake often. My sister has always claimed Peperoni Bills is one of her favorite restaurants down here. Every time we have attempted to go they have been closed, even though Google and or their website would say they were open. I understand there has been a lot that has happened over the past 2 years with Covid challenges and now staffing and shortage of supplies. Tonight we waited an hour to be seated and were told our only options were 3 hand tossed pizzas or the salad bar because everything else was sold out. The staff was friendly and the pizza was good, but with our issues of this restaurant never being open and the very limited menu tonight we are giving 2 stars. Hopefully on a future trip down we will have a better experience and be able to try more of the menu items.

The staff was friendly and helpful. I had the grilled chicken tacos and enjoyed them. It came with two tacos, a side of salsa, and a bag of corn chips. This was our first time at The Highlander. It was packed when we got there which is usually a good sign that they have good food and or drinks. There was a short wait but it was less than 10 minutes. We started with four appetizers including the fried pickles which were perfect for any pickle lover. The mozzarella logs were amazing! I could have probably ordered that just for a meal. There was a seasonal selection menu that included yellow fin tuna and avocado which was so delightful and plated perfectly. We also got a pound of peel and eat shrimp with their house made cocktail sauce. The sauce was light with plenty bite due to the grated horseradish. As for the entrees they too did not disappoint.. The chicken and waffles were a showstopper. You better bring a huge appetite if you plan to finish it. It has two full chicken breast perfectly seasoned and fried, sandwiched between 3 fluffy waffles that seemed to have a sweet crunch to them as well. It’s also had crispy/candied style bacon and a cup of bourbon, orange maple syrup that was delightful. It was the best chicken and waffles I have ever eaten, hands down! The chicken fried chicken was huge and juicy! It was paired with homemade red mashed potatoes, green beans and white gravy. I was told it was the best chicken fried chicken she’s ever had. My brother ordered the Philly and fries, he said it was probably in the top 3 phillys he’s ever had. My girlfriend got The Highlander pie. It was rich, cheesy and creamy topped with red mashed potatoes and cheese. It came in a piping hot cast iron skillet adding to the presentation. The youngest had a plain burger and fries. He ate all of it so it must have been good usually he wastes a bit. The cocktails were fairly priced and they had some unique options. Including a green tea mule which was delightful. By far the best meal we had all weekend and the cheapest. Decorations are Irish pub with pictures of Highland cows. There were 11 of us 5 adults and 6 kids under 8 and all of our meals were hot and delicious. We had eaten at several of the local restaurants in the area and this was the best meal we had. Restaurants in the area need to follow this example, I for one don't mind paying for good food but I won't go back to one where I've paid good money for poor quality food. And when I got angry with her and told her she needed to compensate me for my time and gas, she yelled at me to "Calm Down". I told her to make it right. Remaking the sandwich does not make us even after all the inconveniences. Then with no warning she actually told me to get out and called the police on me! Fast forward to Monday, I called the GM. The restaurant was fun, music, great food and even though it was a busy Saturday in the summer our drinks were always full, and the food was wonderful. Lots of variety on the menu and great drink selection. Also pleasantly surprised that the prices were reasonable for such a great place. Even though it was attached to the resort there were lots of locals which we enjoyed. We will definitely return.

It truly could be a GEM, as there are no other restaurants on this side of the lake. The facilities and atmosphere itself are great. There is a pool, pickleball courts, putting greens, games for the kids. The owner nailed that part. Where they fall flat on their face, is drink and food service. We have been multiple times through the course of the summer. We have spoken to others who had the exact same experience we had. The servers are working as hard as they can, sometimes only 2 of them for the entire establishment. I’ve never seen more than one bartender, and that leaves service standing still. They are never in stock with most of the menu, and every time we have been the server has greeted us with what they didn’t have on the menu that day. In total, this place could be a winner. But with the current management in place, it will remain a one and done for most everyone who visits. If it takes 30+ minutes to get a drink, and you feel like you need to order 2 drinks every time the server comes around just so you don’t go thirsty, you need to find another spot.
