I usually order the sesame chicken from here and it’s always been great, which is why last night’s order was such a disappointment. I placed it about 45 minutes before closing, and it felt like the quality was rushed just to get something out the door.
Instead of the usual sesame chicken, what I received looked and tasted like plain breaded chicken nuggets soaked in sauce. The texture was mushy, the breading wasn’t crispy at all, and it didn’t resemble the normal dish I’m used to from here.
I understand it was close to closing time, but if the kitchen can’t make the dish properly that late, I’d rather be told instead of receiving something that doesn’t match what I paid for. I hope this was just a one-off mistake, because I’ve genuinely enjoyed their food in the past.

First time in tonight and I was impressed to say the least. Outside, suburban strip mall. Inside, super cool. Server, Jordie or Jordan - I'm sorry I don't remember - was fantastic. Aperol margarita was refreshing and unusual in a great way. Potsticker sampler was fresh and delicious. Pork and shrimp we're our faves. Rock and roll roll was great. Been coming here for many years Because of my husband’s addiction with their pad Thai. I try to change up my order from time to time. I would consider all the food Asian inspired, not particularly traditional. However, I haven’t had anything that wasn’t delicious. Last night was no exception I had their red curry with shrimp, vegetables and pineapple, and the flavor of the sauce was incredible. It was chock full of shrimp and the portion was huge- This photo was what I brought home after eating!!! Granted, we started with the wonton soup that comes with shrimp toast. I’ve been coming to this place since I was in middle school. My mom took me here since it was her and her fathers favorite place to grab Chinese take away. It’s been my family and I’s absolute favorite place ever since. I’ve tried about every other Chinese food place around here, and no one comes close to these guys. There isn’t that intense candied Americanized taste to a lot of their food like most places have now. And their pork steamed dumplings.. those things start fights at the dinner table. They’re to die for! Everyone orders their own serving now when we stop here.
Their service is super friendly and fast as well! Food is usually ready within 20-30 minutes and stays hot for so long. One of the owners knows me by name and knows my order by heart whenever we call to place an order.
If I ever move away, I would be heartbroken to not get food from here anymore. My absolute go to and I’m constantly introducing my friends to Golden Palace and they all love it. Truly an amazing little gem that I’ll forever hold in my heart! (:

This place is yummy but not fantastic. The noodles were good. The reviews are true, they DO skimp out on the meat. I got pork noodles and it barely had any pork. Also, I thought the noodles order would be bigger. I personally thought the small was too small and kinda pricy in comparison to other places I've been to. Overall, the food was good so you won't be disappointed in taste. Just wish the portions where a little bigger and that they didn't skimp out on the meat. My daughter suddenly had a strong craving for sushi, and we weren’t anywhere near a place known for good ones. Eventually, we drove to Christiana Mall and started searching online for a nearby sushi spot. One particular restaurant was recommended, and even though we hadn’t checked a single review, we decided to give it a try since it was already late. To our surprise, it turned out to be a beautiful restaurant with a cozy atmosphere. We quickly placed our order for Volcano Sushi, Mini Soup Dumplings, Pork Dumplings, crab tempura and Singapore Chicken Noodles. Called in and placed an order at lunch, the lady who answered the phone was slightly rude. I waited a generous 30 minutes before arriving to pick my order up only to be told: “Oh we forgot, we will make it now”. I've been coming to Joy Garden for decades now - living right around the corner and moving in to my childhood home has allowed me to share with my family some of the restaurants that I've always loved.
Joy Garden was always a reminder of the way Chinese Food should be. I've traveled a lot over the years and I always find myself comparing other restaurants to this place. No one has been able to live up to them.
With that being said, I've noticed a definite down-turn in quality in the past few years. This restaurant has been run by the same family for several decades - I always recognize the woman who I've seen for years, who is always a joy to speak with, and I've even now met her son taking orders, which is always a pleasure to see the family continuing the tradition of their hard-worked business!
I believe that the economy has caused an uptick in cost; however, the increase combined with a lower-than-expected quality has been a sad disappointment. The restaurant is in dire need of revamping, and I would normally be able to look past this for quality food, but I'm left lacking from what they used to be.
Perhaps changes in food regulations have contributed to recent changes, possibly Covid issues have affected the way things are done... this restaurant still offers "steamed chicken dumplings," which are near-impossible to find elsewhere... but things simply aren't the same.
I couldn't imagine finding another place to satisfy my needs, but rising prices, lack of transparency regarding pricing and an overall change of food-quality, I cannot in good conscience rate them as highly as my nostalgia would wish.
I wish these folks the best and hope for better days. I will still continue to patronage this establishment but hope they find a way to bring things back to their golden age so that generations more can enjoy the quality that I had come to rely on.

Here’s my first time ordering take out because I realized it was the only option once I stepped in the restaurant. No a/c nor tables and chairs to customers seat and the ones there where worn out and/damaged/dusty. I almost turned around but decided to give it a shot. I ordered the large house fried rice and a shrimp with vegetables combination which includes pork fried rice and an egg roll. The food was fine, if they added a little bit more flavor I’ll rated very good. Portions are good for the rice but the shrimp size was too small, maybe ok for the rice but not on a main entree dish. Vegetables were really good, that’s a plus. But there wasn’t sauce to accompany the egg roll on the bag, maybe was forgotten. Overall I think with a little of more investment on the place might be a better option for the future. I hope this helps the owners if they care enough for improvement.

I don’t understand the bad reviews. This is one of the best Chinese restaurants that I found in Newark Delaware being as though I’m from Philly and Philly got a lot of good Chinese spots. Called to complain and was told that it is soup. So I guess there’s no roast pork in a roast pork soup? Kind of like chicken stew without the chicken. You can tell she’s used to complaints by the way she handles herself over the phone.

The chicken at Mee Garden was delicious, although some customers wished the portions were larger considering the price. The rice was decent, but it was the pork in it that stood out as being very good. The fried wontons looked nice but were unfortunately rock hard. I decided to try Mee Garden because I was disappointed with the previous establishment I was getting my food from (lack of cleanliness, incorrect orders, leaky containers, etc.). I am very happy with Mee Garden. The food is fresh and properly cooked. The pepper steak, chicken and broccoli, Lo Mein, Won Ton soup and spare ribs (our favorite dishes) are all terrific. Their portions are very generous. I love the dumplings, whether in the Won Ton soup or steamed and fried as appetizer. They have a nice chew to them which is a sign they are not over cooked. Nothing worse than an overcooked dumpling. I've never been disappointed with anything I've ordered. The people are very nice.One suggestion I would make is to make the spicy dishes hotter/more spicy. I've ordered extra hot a couple of times and I could barely feel the burn. Other than that highly recommended for your take out!

This place is the best in the area for Chinese food! The portion sizes are very generous, the quality of the food is excellent, and everything I've had here has been absolutely delicious, which is a wonderful surprise, especially given the reasonable prices. Big generous chunks of premium chicken in all their chicken dishes, and both the wonton soup and the scallion pancakes are utterly addictive. My personal favorite, though, is their beef lo mein.
I've tried a couple other Chinese takeout places around here, but none of them have even come close to Empire and I find myself coming back once every week or two.

I called to order food and he tells me that in the system their is a note to not take an order from this number over the phone but that I have to walk in and order..? I just received this number about a month ago and actually ordered from them about a week ago with no issue. I will not be giving this horrible business any of my money anymore. Like most fast food Chinese food but for sure fresher and less greasy than the places I’m used to in LA. I enjoyed it! Fried rice has pork and veggies. It’s surprisingly yellow. Tried sesame chicken and Kung pao. Some veggies in Kung pao were crispy, which I liked.
