We weren’t informed that certain things would be spicy by our waiter but she mentioned it to the ladies beside us on the meals they picked out. I ordered the combination meal C14 Jumbo Shrimp with Mixed Chinese Veg, Pork Fried Rice and Egg Roll $9.95. Bill had C27 General Tso's Chicken $10.50 with Pork Fried Rice and Egg Roll plus a small Hot & Sour soup to go. Food was out in less than 10 minutes from the very busy kitchen. Everything was fantastic!! Another plus is this is one of the few places that has "Real Hot Chinese Mustard!" This is now our official Go To Chinese Restaurant when the 2 of us eat in or out. They have a full menu with over 100 choices, health food section plus a nice smaller size 36 choices lunch selection. They do deliver but need to check if they come to your place in Myrtle Beach. Enjoy as we sure did and even brought leftovers home.

BIG MISTAKE! We ordered Japanese style miso ramen, Japanese style udon with tempora, Japanese style seafood udon and "Bangkok" chicken curry Which was supposed to be spicy. 1st off the miso ramen had literally no miso flavor and had obvious instant ramen noodles! The cook didn't even cook the noodles and separate them before he threw them in the bowl. It was literally still in the square shape that you get when you buy noodles in the package from Walmart. The tempura udon Wasn't much better. The soup was definitely not Japanese style udon broth. The only positive about it would be that there were actually a decent amount of noodles and tempura but the tempura was ridiculously oily. The seafood udon had the same problem with the broth but because of the seafood it kinda Tasted OK and my daughter and son liked the seafood that was in it. Decent amount of noodles as well and definitely decent amount of seafood. Shrimp squid scallops mussels and fake crab were the seafood in the soup. Finally I had the Bangkok chicken. When I asked the server about it he said it was OK but he would try something else and I should have listened to him. It was absolutely not spicy at all and was actually sweet like they added sugar to the coconut milk that was supposed to be in that recipe. I really don't have much positive to say about that curry because it was horrendous in my opinion. Another thing that probably will turn people off is they make you tip a mandatory 20% by adding it to the bill. For us it's not really an issue because we generally tip 20% when we go out Unless our server is just a complete b******* But we still leavee 15% or 10 if they were absolutely s*** as well as the food. I'm guessing they made the tip mandatory because once people had the food they would not want a tip and take it out on the server even though it's not the server's fault that the food was horrible. So to give you some perspective on my food knowledge, The wife and I have worked in restaurants for many years including stints as a kitchen manager and chef. The restaurant itself is a little hole in the wall on a side road. The interior is modest but clean including the bathrooms. My wife brought up a good point. She said next time just order Chinese food because all the staff in the kitchen were Chinese. Overall it was good but nothing to knock your socks off. I wouldn’t drive from Goose Creek to DI for it. The Sweet and Sour Chicken was good. The Fried Rice was lacking, just Rice and Soy Sauce. Nothing else to provide flavor. No vegetables, no seasoning. The Egg Roll was also lacking. Essentially a Fried Cabbage Roll as there was a tiny amount of pork in it. To the point I had to thoroughly search for those red Pork pieces after each bite. The Duck Sauce that was served with it was great though. These were Lunch Specials but added the Dim Sum and the Egg Roll. Portions were solid for the price of $12.99 per special. Dim Sum was $8.99 and the Egg Roll was $2.75. It was nice to see a sit down Chinese Restaurant rather than the typical Take Out Style places, especially with some of the originals in the area closing. The food was incredible. Bold flavors, perfect spice level, and just downright delicious. It makes enjoying a succulent Chinese meal feel like a crime. The service was out of this world. It was actually comfortable, not crammed in elbow-to-elbow like most places. There was this one couple who kept letting their dog on the patio even after being told multiple times not to. I had high hopes for this restaurant but if you know what Sichuan food is supposed to taste like I'd avoid it at all costs. All of the food was missing a Sichuan aroma and flavor. Found Chopsticks,  but were a little cautious as all the reviews were dated.   Took one for the team... and were really happy.  Typical storefront Chinese,  but flavorful and portions were generous. Hot and sour soup as good as I've had.  General Tso was spiced just right,  but the fried rice side could have been a little more flavorful.   The lo mein was excellent!  Think the highlight was the ginger scallion chicken - but beware if you're not a ginger fan,  as it has large slices of fresh ginger. I waited to make sure we didn't "rent the food" due to MSG; 24 hours later and no issues! Biggest issue,  and reason not 5 star... we had it delivered to the hotel where we staying,  but they did not include any utensils,  chopsticks, napkins, plates, sauces or similar items one would expect of a takeout/delivery only restaurant.   Nonetheless,  we would definitely order from them again if we're in the area.

Out of all the Asian fusion restaurants I have been to around Charleston, Red Orchids is definitely the one that I highly, highly recommend! The food portion is slightly smaller than other restaurants, and price is on the higher end of Chinese restaurants, but for the quality of the food that you are getting, it is worth going to try. I asked her why would she do that, and that I knew it wasn't the standard of Tony and Kelly (owners). This guy could have ate a piece of steel metal and choked and died, or even took this photo and gave it to his attorney after already probably eating a strand of metal or two...and a $11.00 comp has to be brought to your attention? I joked on how cute my grandparents where. Friday night they had plenty of seating available for us. As we sat they took our drink order and before we had returned with our first plates drinks popped up on our tables. The refreshments where crisp and ice cold. The wait staff diligent in their floor duties refilling drinks and clearing plates before you get back from second trips. BTW ... The forks in ya napkin 😂🙌🍴 I was silly looking around a minute for one. The food was so fresh! Everything I had tasted fresh. Usually at buffet places you'll get a weird grease vibe from the dishes overall after eating. Not here at Golden China Buffet!! The green beans so yummy. I probably ate my weight in them. The dishes where flavorful. Distinctively different as it should be, but rarely get at buffets. Sushie was delicious and a beautiful variety displayed. I tried and dabbled many dishes I normally wouldn't and was pleasantly surprised with each of them. Jalapenos in the spicy dishes packed a crawling heat that only vanilla ice cream and banana pudding could help. So delish!! Highly recommend it. You'll enjoy it. The food has ALWAYS been average but I just wanted a couple of key items and I went in at 3:21pm just prior to the lunch/dinner transition. I just ate the key things I came in for...the ONLY thing I ate that had any signage was the salt + pepper shrimp which was clearly marked that it is not available for "to go." Cool, cool, I was eating there. I noticed my server come over and check my plate when I came back with the second plate, but I barely had anything on there and definitely no dinner items so I wasn't worried. When she brought me the bill it was for the dinner price. I questioned it because I had no intentions of eating there at their dinner rate--for $15.99, there are so many better food options in Goose Creek. They claimed I ate fried shrimp...I never even saw fried shrimp out there. After I got a little louder about it they changed my check to the lunch price but were INSISTENT that I had misread the signs or just missed something. I didn't miss sh!t... The crawfish were clearly marked they were a dinner item...and I was headed back to the table when they were bringing out more dinner items. If you plan to come during the lunch/dinner transition, TAKE PICTURES of what you have on your plate to avoid this...or just go to one of the other solid Chinese restaurants in the Creek.

I then asked him, as he had just used the last of the fried rice if they would be cooking more as i had 4 remaining family members order to go that needed filled that required fried rice. He inturn informed me that no... They would not be cooking anything new. What he had out was what remained to be sold. Would i like to pick something else as my third item. I asked him what he intended to provide instead of the now empty fried rice bowl? My option was white rice. No noodles, no fried rice. Yes, that right¹. He refused to replenish empty menu items 50 min untill closing. With a straight face no less, and had the nerve to act like i was asking to much of this establishment to actually provide the food advertised for sale 50 min prior to closing. Or god forbid hin do what they hired him to do and provide a service to their customers. No attempt to even see if cooking a new batch would be enough for all my orders. There for providing excellent service to their customers. Nope. He didn't bother to ask how many servings i would need to complete my remaining orders. Nothing. Just a no. We won't be cooking anything more tonight. Would i like any of the remaining dishes. Lol at this point i was laughing at what i was now considering this location and chains, Not to mention a complete failure in the customer service industry, which I have personally managed for various retail locations for almost 30 yrs. Having grown up with Chinese food and eaten at Chinatowns in Los Angeles and New York, I was pleasantly surprised with the nuances and in-depth layers of flavors for the dishes I have tried here. The vegetables in the beef/chicken with broccoli were cooked to a perfect bite (not too over or under cooked). The sauce had a deep rich flavor without being too oily or salty. The Singapore noodles hold true to a traditional dish with the spicy curry flavor and an excellent ratio of ingredients (although the vegetables could be a little more robust). The lo mein has great flavor and the chicken was moist. Highly recommended.

We are moving to Pawleys Island and are thrilled to have a great Chinese takeout nearby.
