I was really impressed with my meal of beef and red chile. The chile was smoky and spicy and the beef was tender and plentiful. I ordered the Flauta Plate and it was satisfying. The flautas were crunchy and had enough meat, the beans were alright, didn’t really like the Mexican rice. My daughter really enjoyed their Caldo de Res. She said it had good flavor and had a good ratio of meat and veggies. My youngest had the Enchilada Kid plate and it was nice that she was able to customize it to her liking, so she went with a green chicken enchilada which she finished. The tamales weren’t my favorite. I have no idea why they had cheese on top. I probably wouldn’t order them again. They offer agave margaritas in different flavors, they are made from ready mix and not fresh ingredients but they are enjoyable if you aren’t that picky. The inside of the restaurant could be updated, not much of an atmosphere. Prices ran around $10 a plate. I haven’t seen many Mexican restaurants in Alamogordo so if you are in the mood for Mexican food check this place out!

They dont have crow on the menu, but I'm eating some here. I wrote a negative review about being ignored for an hour on a father's day visit. I added to that review, when I received what I perceived to be a boiler plate dust off reply. It seems our experience was a one off perfect storm of circumstances. Garrett's the manager did respond to my review detailing our experience. He graciously extended an offer and we accepted. First; the atmosphere was completely different this visit compared to our first. Even in conversation with the manager that was on duty that evening. I have no plausible explanation for this. The restaurant was filled with a warm inviting buzz of people enjoying themselves. There were a bakers dozen of servers busily engaged in duties. We were greeted, received and promptly and warmly seated.The wine list is prodigious, it's just not possible to find a favorite. As a west coast transplant (not California) New Mexico wines are deliciously different and unique. The sampling is incredibly generous also. So you're well accommodated in discovering your preference. The signature Merlot was my choice. Prices are very reasonable and the menu complete to satisfy. Ordered were the NM pasta, the green Chiles made themselves known in this dish. The meatloaf was akin to homemade, the pot roast as well. Salad and soup were very fresh and well mixed. What to say about dessert except to say leave room for them. Our group experience simply couldn't be better or far removed from the previous. In my initial review I saw the vast number of rave reviews compared to few negatives. So this must be the norm and ours was a weird anomaly. Garrett and Denise are good to their word. And its apparent that they DO care. We had a very pleasant and and rewarding experience. Based on all of those positive factors, we will return often and take guests and join in the multitude of positive reviews. It was $14, and was enough for three people. It comes in either shrimp or chicken and they have two broth options. We opted for the coconut milk one with cilantro and WOW WAS IT DELICIOUS!! Honestly, I will be going back for that Hot Pot alone. They have a variety of drink options, both alcoholic and non-alcoholic. The Thai Tea my daughter had was super refreshing and creamy. My husband and I had the Fuji Apple Sake and Pear and they were so smooth and sweet, the Sake was delicious. The service was great, our waitress was friendly and knowledgeable with her recommendations for food. The prices were $10 and up but that seems to be the norm nowadays. Aside from that, I’ve always liked Carinos and find their food flavorful and delicious. The portions are generous and we always have leftovers to take home. They have lunch specials during the weekdays, they do have beer and wine as well as various cocktails. They also offer a kids menu and the kids have the option to make their own pasta dish. Fun! Food wise, my family loves the calamari and I’m a sucker for their soups. They also have a Green Chile lasagna that’s quite tasty. Their desserts are a shareable portion. This place is great as long as their kitchen is stocked because when it is, we never leave disappointed.
