Starter of lamb kofta was subpar, lamb had a very synthetic taste. The taste, shape and texture suggested it was from a packet. Salad was drowned out by the sauce. This made for a very unpleasant taste alongside the sharp cheese. I didn't finish this. The main was a massive dissapointment. Pork belly, with Irish champ which was absolutely swimming in grease. See picture, just look at the plate it is drenched in fat and oil and grease. There's no excuse for that at all. Got halfway through and just couldn't finish. To their credit they offered to put the desserts on the house and after some persuasion by the waitress we tried a dessert. The key lime pie was nice. The head waiter seemed to want to plant himself about a yard away from our table awkwardly. The waitresses seemed nervous around him. Not a pleasant experience at all and not one I could recommend to anyone. Giving 2 stars as they did at least attempt to correct the mains issue.

Our latest experience at Bear Derbion was today when we decided to have lunch here. We waited to be seated as the sign instructs, but staff came and went by us without as much as eye contact. It took us to go to the bar area to ask if we can be seated only to get the reply "site where you want" we sat on a table recently vacated and started to look through the menu. She then returned with a cloth and wiped the table in a way that meant the crumbs all fell into our laps !!!.. my sparkling water never turned up so I asked staff where this was only to be told I have to get it myself from the fridge "which no one told us when we ordered" (plus we had to ask for a glass) Onto the food orders, I wanted to order flatbreads with chicken shawarma, but when we went to order at the bar,we were told there was no chicken which is disappointing to here when you have spent 15 mins looking at the menu, why didn't they tell you this when you are seated? My alternative was the Turkish eggs which says is 2 "rich yolk" eggs, the eggs I received resembled hard boiled eggs and the food was luke warm so no doubt had been sitting about for a while. My wife ordered the brioche chilli and cheese with Fries. The fries didn't turn up with the order, and we had to ask for these. They were promptly brought to us, but we're luke warm, so again, they they must have been hanging around for a while. All in all, the food was substandard, and the customer experience was very poor and unsatisfactory. I would consider alternative meal options when visiting Derbion in the future.

Very high standard of decor, spacious, clean and perfectly laid tables. All the staff I spoke to were very helpful and courteous. I had some recommendations when selecting the main meal, even has the heat level was increased to me there, and my favourite herb had a little extra added to the dish too. Incredible taste with everything I ate, even tried lemon rice which was fantastic, highly recommend - my first time trying this. There are so many options to choose from that there is a burger for everyone, even those who don't like burgers. My waitress was very lovely, made sure I didn't have any allergies or needed a vegetarian substitute. The burger is chose definitely needed a knife and fork as it was way too big to hold. I absolutely loved every bite of it. The pork was a little tough is some places and the skinny fries were abit too crispy(hard), therefore I minus a point. I am sure many people love crispy fried but I prefer my skinny fries soft like McDonald's fries. I definitely will go back and try the other burgers they have to offer. I noted on my receipt that if you took it to the bar and ordered a drink, you'd get 10 or 20% off that bill, which is great if you are not yet ready to leave.

The thin straw which they provide is useless and nothing was coming through. Cajun fries went really well with the Cajun gravy but it was nothing special, it’s not something I’ll be craving to have again. Spicy chicken sandwich was nice and there definitely was a kick of spice. The fillet was very soft and tender even with how thick the fillet was, overall everything was assembled well and it was a tasty burger. I don’t really have any complaints about the food it just wasn’t as good as I expected it to be.

We were told there would be a wait, which as okay, but overall the experience was abysmal. Firstly, there seems to be a ventilation issue, food being cooked (not in the kitchen, on the side next to the coffee bar for some reason) smelt like it was burning, the restaurant ended up smoky, and we stunk when we left. All of our drinks came out at different times, so one person finished their drink, then the next persons arrived. None of them were that hot either. I ordered the wraps filled with curry. For the cost of the food, the ingredient quality is cheap and poor. The other two people didn’t even get their meals, I tried to eat my food as slowly as possible, waiting for them to be served, but the wait was really beyond ridiculous so we asked for a refund and they left hungry. It seemed other people had been waiting a long time and were getting frustrated too. It was overall a really bad experience, with the poor ventilation, insanely slow service, and bland, cheap tasting food. I've never had a multiple course breakfasts in this sort of format, so that was interesting. The location is adorable, especially if you can get a window seat. Staff were patient and friendly. The food was amazing! Good quality ingredients, tasteful sauces. The crumpet for my eggs benedict initially looked store bought, but it had much better flavour and texture when eating. Mushrooms on toast was so savoury and creamy, but not overly saucy. The brioche used was not overly sweet, so a good balance for various plates.
