Multi page wine list, servers who can give recommendations, and really well designed menu. It’s somewhat tapas style but there are entree options if you include the specials. The vibes are so good here, the service is impeccable, warm, and friendly. It’s always nice to see when servers are obviously experienced and like the place they work! The prices do not reflect the location (somewhat tourist town), or the quality and portions of the food. Great for solo diners as well, as there is a bar for non reservations.

I went to Bastion for dinner this past Saturday evening and cannot praise it highly enough. The space is intimate and comfortable, appropriately elegant for a Michelin-starred restaurant without feeling overly formal. We shared the space with 5 other tables who all sat at 7pm, and we were all served the tasting menu at the same time, making for a nice communal experience. Each dish was artful, full of complex flavour, perfectly balanced. We also opted for the wine pairing and would highly recommend it. Wowser. What a mistake. From the start things were decidedly off. My wife asked for a Mojito and was told they were too busy to facilitate her request. We never experienced this before but it set the precedent for what was to come. We ordered different starters. Both were tasteless at best. We both subsequently ordered the beef dish. This was simply appalling. Whilst conversant with the concept of slow cooking this was greasy and inedible, suggesting something has changed drastically in the kitchen since our previous visits. The most unpleasant part of the entire experience however was when we brought this to the attention of the waiting staff. To be fair they stated they were happy to facilitate any other choice from the menu and they would inform the kitchen of our experience. At this point we chose not to order anything else. We were then left waiting with two full plates of food for over 20 minutes with the waiting staff happy to leave our plates in front of us. It was only when I ordered the bill that a different member of staff facilitated my request to pay. She never once asked why there were two full plates of food in front of us and never once asked was everything alright with the meal, the evidence being that it clearly wasn't. As we left we felt obliged to inform a senior member of staff of our very negative experience. Her first response was that she couldn't make any refund. We had never asked for a refund. Again to be fair my wife was offered a cocktail or a dessert which we declined. This senior member of staff took my telephone number and advised that she would get the owner to contact me. I have never received any such phone call which I would have treated as a courtesy. Overall an extremely disappointing experience.

They were able to accommodate for my having celiacs, even during their fixed menu hours. They even went as far as to bring out a little gluten free bread before my entree, so that I might enjoy it along with my party's regular bread, something I've never experienced before! Accommodation is very clean, tidy and comfortable. The service and booking in process was really easy and the communications were excellent. You could not want for a better location than the Lemon Leave to explore the very vibrant Kinsale and all it has to offer. All the bars and restaurants are literally on the doorstep. Breakfast and dinning was lovely. However I would recommend booking in advance even if you have confirmed accommodation. It does get busy in the restaurant as it is so nice. We started with Primrose Fizz’s which were so yummy we downed like apple juice! Collum was behind the bar serving us and we loved his restaurant so much we cancelled our reservations elsewhere to eat here. We had a 3 course meal and bottle of wine for 140€. Scallops to start with and crab claws which were quite chewy to our liking. As for the mains I was quite disappointed. I had the lentil squash curry, which for 20€ I expected it to be something with a bit more umami. It was really quite bland and the flatbreads hard and chewy. We were also surprised and suspicious at how fast our food came out! We barely waited 5 minutes after our starter plates were cleared up and the mains came. Desert was a creme brûlée and a chocolate & orange mouse topped with honeycomb. I couldn’t get much of the orange flavours, but the sweet treat hit the spot. Apart from the mediocre food, the wine was lovely! A beautiful easy going red that fit the vibe of the place. The staff were great too.

Simply the finest meal in my 76 years on this planet. Pierre our host and sommelier was the epitome of gracious and knowledgeable. The Ajo Blanco with the chard was difficult to place in my culinary lexicon - I need to learn to make it! - The Bavette was perfectly cooked and the “Green Sauce was a Chimi-churri-esque riff with capers and mint… ALL of the above were plated well, tasted great and left us wishing we had more room to try ALL the other menu items… But the thing that got me THE MOST was Chef Rebecca’s take on potatoes. Look, this is Ireland…you can’t turn over a menu in upscale dining here without new and interesting riffs on potatoes. According to Jack, the Maitre’d, these were steamed, then smoked, then fried and served with a very thick and punchy garlic aioli. Simply, they are the finest potatoes I have eaten since moving here…. In conclusion, St. Francis is a top three favorite dinner since we moved here. The place is small and cooks at a level that you might not expect with its simple setting and “quaint tourist town” vibe… If you get the chance, eat there. You’ll kick yourself if you don’t. Family friendly, spacious, and a large menu with something for everyone. Even had a vegetarian section of the menu with vegan options. There is outdoor seating, but it mostly looks into the parking lot. It’s a little outside the main section of the town, but there was ample parking in the hotel lot which it is connected to. Shower was cold on 3rd day, and reception said to wait 20 minutes while they boosted the hot water. I had a do not disturb sign on the door, yet cleaning staff scared me by walking in without knocking. To note, there were no internal-only locks, which seemed a bit unsafe, especially considering we were told that a previous guest walked out with one of the keys to our original room. All in all, the room was clean, bed comfortable (as long as you don’t fall into the middle where two twins were pushed together) and location great. The issue is it is a 3 star hotel billed as 5 star, so overpriced/overrated. If it were listed as a 3 star and priced accordingly, there would be no issue.
