I didn’t have a reservation and the restaurant was quite busy, so I came back an hour later. Not ideal, but I really wanted to eat here, and I’m so glad I did. They eventually found me a table, and from there the experience was exquisite. The food was incredible, I had the mussels, the red curry duck, and the cheesecake for dessert. But it seems that I can always get either or. Nightmarket was unfortunately no exception. Let’s start with the environment. I made a reservation for the tunnel room. When I arrived I was offered a table outside by a pile of boxes. Upon requesting a different table, I was sat in proper tunnel room. That was great. I must say the restaurant ambience is nice, most table are good and it looks great, except for the table I was offered initially. Now the drinks. They have excellent drinks. I was very pleased. I just think they could have been faster. It took a long time to get drinks for a small place. The food presentation was great but I thought the flavor wasn’t there. I had a Tom Kha Gai soup and it was great. The pork skewers are fantastic. Then I had the Miang Kham and it was disappointing. It was a very dry dish. Well presented but very dry and not to my taste. Then we had the pad thai, the mango salad and the papaya salad. The mango salad was great but the fried crab that comes with it was over fried and tasteless. We could not eat it at all. The pad thai was not bad but it was missing something. It wasn’t the best but again, I was disappointed with the flavors. The papaya salad was tasteless and probably the worst I ever had. I love papaya salads and usually I ask it to be made mild so that I enjoy the flavors. Unfortunately, the flavors were not there. It was like it was missing something. Again the same pattern. Since the experience was not that great, we decided to skip desert. In conclusion, I believe they need to speed up the drinks and enhance the food flavors. Everything else was great. This place has the potential to be the best in town. Just not there yet.

The Butcher Grill is tiny and usually packed, so I thought there was no chance. But the hostess was an absolute gem. She had even tried calling me and still held our table. The fries were good and a nice portion. The food is so well priced for the quality and portion sizes. The ambience is great for date night. If I had one complaint, it’s that no one came round to offer dessert after the main course. We got the beef short rib ragu pappardelle both and the gnocchi nduja mascarpone. The pappardelle was really good, the tomato sauce was so flavourful and the pasta was al dente. The only negative comment would be that there was a bit of tendons chewy part stuck with the beef. Other than that it was delicious. The gnocchi were so well cooked it was as if it was melting in your mouth. And the nduja mascarpone sauce YUM 🤤 so creamy as well. Unfortunately I find it quite expensive and the portions were fine like you’ll probably want to either order a starter or a dessert. The atmosphere was nice however the sofa bench side was a bit dirty and the floor was grey sticky. But other than that the food was genuinely really good and handmade.

I am a spice averse individual and ensured I ordered food with no chilli icon, even the description doesn’t have the word “spices” in it. It was dinner on Thursday night and the place was hopping (if the pub were named "The Bunny & the Cage" that would make a funny pun but ahhhh, I digress...). While everything was excellent, the best item of the evening was the Beer Battered Onion Rings with Chipotle Mayo. For a fried food, these tasted incredibly light and the onions tasted very fresh! The Funghi Pizza offered a hearty and varied mouthfeel with each bite, with lots of flavors and textures between the wild mushroom mix, the spinach, pistachio crumbles, and mozzarella cheese! We both agreed that between the crust and the cheese, the pizza could have benefited from an additional couple of minutes of oven time but that didn't deter from this being an amazing option! The burger was equally satisfying with a generous portion of delicious house cut chips (fries, but I know you know that lol). We were hungry and really jonesing to try all of the options that we did .. but honestly, either the pizza or burger option would likely be enough for two reasonable .. not so gluttonous people! We finally managed to do that on a night where we tried out games together with friend who's a game designer. When it opened Board initially offered only alcohol free drinks and I loved they did that. When I saw they opened the way for some alcohol I thought it was a shame and that I missed a chance to try a special place but in reality I don't think it has missed much. If anything I imagine it has probably improved. The clientele there in fact is super chilled. The night we were in it seemed to be very popular with couples and families with children. Alcohol is not a component as most people seem to settle for one, max 2 drinks. Everyone's focus is on playing. The selection of games is really really good and I regret not taking a picture or a video of it. Some games have been clearly used A LOT and they are ruined but most are run great shape. Almost all games can be played for free if each guest at a table consumes at least 15 euros of food & drinks.
