I'm vegetarian & nothing on the menu was marked as vegetarian, although I was told there were plenty of options. The staff were very friendly and answered any questions I had. I ordered Roast Garlic Butter Pizza and Fried Mozzarella as I figured I couldn't go too far wrong. The pizza looks wood fired however the base had lots of black spots which tasted of burnt rather than fired. The garlic butter tasted bitter like the garlic was more raw than roasted. Hours later and I can still taste burnt Pizza Bread despite eating other things since. For the Fried Mozzarella I got 5 or 6 small balls which were accompanied by red onion & balsamic chutney but, unfortunately, it was all very dry. The bits of onion in the chutney were quite big and there wasn't much moisture. If this had come with a marinara dipping sauce it would have been much better. The staff were very nice but I left disappointed in the food. Other diners seemed happy with their food so maybe I just got unlucky with hot-spots in the pizza oven but I probably won't go back to try again.

The atmosphere is warm and cozy, with very friend employees working, making small talk, very genuine and funny. The food comes quick and tastes fantastic. Pork scratchings with a Cajun spice are really great and not too filling. I had their roasted chicken with polenta was fantastic, nice and crispy with a soft tasty inside. Lots of gluten free options available , including beer! And accomodations can be made of you need. Prices are reasonable for what you get; really high quality food and great service. We attended on a Friday evening. The restaurant was busy, some noise both not overly loud where you couldnt have a conversation. We were seared withib 5 kinudrtes of arriving. The food was ordered quickly and was delivered quickly, fast and fresh. The server was polite and very attentive. Nothing was a bother for her. Free WIFI was a great help, having an11 year old with ASD. He was kept busy with his ipad. This is the most authentic Italian food and restaurant in Belfast and we have been a few times before. After being seated, a large party was sat next to us, being rather loud and the waiters having to squeeze past us to serve this table, at one point during our meal even bumping my arm while I held a slide of my pizza. The food was lovely, with very little waiting time from ordering, starter then main. I opted for Arancini balls as my starter, which was lovely and was served at a perfect temperature. The pesto mayonnaise they were served with was a bit bland. For my main I opted for the Giardiniera pizza, substituting the onion for sweetcorn. I expected it to be served heavy on the oil side and was pleasantly surprised when it was just right. The only bad thing I can say about the pizza was that I felt the tomatoes base was quite bland, everything else about it was great. Service wise, the guys that looked after us were very good at their job, putting a smile on our face. We were approached by one of the servers maybe 30 seconds after our starters had been left with us if our food was okay, we hadn't even lifted our cutlery at this point, leaving us a bit confused. My brother and I came here on holiday. We wanted some local fair to see how the neighborhood folk enjoy a weekday meal and nightcap. The location was settled amidst a neighborhood and was quite cozy. The staff was spot on a very attentive. The drinks are a bit pricey, which was surprising, as this was a more local pub vs a touristy spot. My brother ordered the fish and chips, and he said the fish was normal to every other place but the chips were the best he had in Ireland to date. I ordered the Salt and Spicy Chicken Strips and the Chicken Carbonara with mushroom sauce. As a chef myself the chicken strips were very flavorful and tasted great, yet the portion size did not match the price. The Carbonara sauce itself was delicious but the chicken was extremely over-cooked and rubbery. The skin on the chicken was very chewy. I will chalk it to an off night for the chef, and I would still highly recommend a visit.

Stuck now for somewhere to go have Sunday Dinner we circled back in on the tour's starting point, only this time, diverted right, into Cuffs Bar & Grill. Yes, it took me a second or two to connect the 'Cuffs' to the 'Prison', but having been seated in this lovely restaurant, we set about going through the menu. Plenty of choice for all tastes, and excellent attentive service throughout. They missed a trick, though, not serving our dinner on a prison separation tray. However, that would require specialist trays to be made to accommodate the larger portions than what an inmate would come to expect. The menu was simple, which we quite like, but the variety of vegetarian options was very limited, especially the starters. My fish main course was relatively good, but nothing to write home about, hence the relatively lacklustre review. The staff were lovely and looked very rushed off their feet, they turned around tables at speed and did still manage to be attentive. Most looked ready to drop. I understand that the restaurant is in an up and coming area but we did find it pricey. The service was friendly and personable. The restaurant and vibes were homely. The food was very comforting and extremely filling. Very good value for money. After travelling with airplane food and lots of snacks, the delicious and wholesome food was much needed. From the comparatively tranquil Cave next door we were taken onto Ox’s buzzy balcony and quickly talked through the tasting menu and wine list by our excellent waiter who managed to strike that fine line balance between being chatty without being overbearing. The Gamay wine was brilliant, and the temperature just cold enough. Out came the trio of snacks, with the Gougere things being a highlight, and then followed the bread and butter before the proper dishes began to flow. And flow they did with brilliant balance; tender umami veal tartare wrapped in a floral radish followed the most moreish celeriac foam coffee apple and truffle, and then came the halibut. A real standout course, rich with quite frankly a drinkable bonito butter, crisp mushroom and punchy greens. The Mourne lamb was ridiculously tender and brought to an end the mains. We opted with little persuasion needed for the trio of cheese course, before the ‘pre dessert’ rhubarb dish made its way over which was another highlight on the night, as was the chocolate dish with mint and black pepper caramel. As things wrapped up the waiter delivered some post-dinner sweets with a candle in for a subtle birthday treat that was much appreciated. Worth the wait and easy to see why it’s been so highly rated for so long, with local charm set fair against its Michelin star rating. We’ll be back someday once I can stop thinking about that bonito butter.

I had to do a bit of rearranging to our trip to be able to visit on a night they were open, and it was so worth it. The ambiance was relaxing and inviting, the service was quick and friendly. Firstly was called asking for a £25 deposit to be paid for a table of 2 kids and 3 adults at 4.45pm. Delicious curries, wide selection, friendly staff. For those with allergies or coeliac - loads of gluten free options, however they make you sign a waiver to indicate you understand the risk of cross contamination, especially from the spices. All mains are gluten free, so I took the risk and luckily didn’t get glutened. Unfortunately when our food came out the naan my companions had ordered was touching one of the mains, so I just didn’t eat that one, but for other folks with similar needs it might be best to order the naan after mains have been delivered to further reduce the risk of cross contamination.

I would say the meatballs are stand out and super flavourful, so would advise anyone to try them out first. I enjoyed the vegan pepperoni but the meatballs were a tough act to follow! The vegan cheese is also really enjoyable, striking a good balance between consistency and strength. I also love the dough as it is not very greasy or too thick. Overall I would say the pizza is very tasty and for vegans you have some strong options to keep you coming back. My only criticism would be around service times, it seems like they need more staff or maybe even an app. This would help to get things moving quickly. For example our food came out before our drinks, which shows there is a disconnect somewhere in the process! Food was excellent. I chose the sweet potato and coconut soup for starter which was delicious. The maitre d approached and asked if my soup was hot enough as someone else had complained it wasn't. For mains I ordered the steak and kidney pie but when it arrived the size of pie was tiny certainly compared to my wife's pork and SILs schnitzel. Bank Square is a very elegant restaurant. I would definitely recommend it for special occasions. While brasserie restaurants are known for beer, this one had a good selection of wines. We settled on a delicious Montepulchiano. Because we were in lunch mode we went with the Classic Smash Burger and Fries. Very tasty. I’m not ashamed to say we both devoured our burgers. Yum Should you ever find yourself in Belfast consider Bank Square for lunch or dinner. It’s an excellent choice!

The fact that 3 party members were unwell is one thing, l get it, mistakes can happen but it is how you deal with the situation that is all important. A big let down for sure.

Great vegetarian options, I had one of the specials, the peanut butter and chickpea fritter with quinoa which was seriously one of the most delicious things I’ve ever eaten. The cocktails were delightful, I got the Mollys Garden which was a gin and elderflower drink. It was light and crisp, perfect for dinner. We also went for the dessert which almost every table got (which no surprise it was great), the raspberry crumble with vegan raspberry sherbet which was the perfect cap on our meal, tart, not too sweet, and so so tasty. Popped in as spotted it whike heading to the airport and only just made my flight as a result but so glad I did. Lovely, fresh local food, the service from the French gent that served me was exceptional and the setting was just gorgeous. Hidden down a tiny alley, I ate in the courtyard which is very cute and the restaurant inside is lovely and intimate. Wish I'd had time to try more off the seasonal menu but will definitely be back. This was my first time visiting Yugo, Belfast. I had heard good things so I had high hopes. I can honestly say that this was my favourite meal I have had in Belfast for a long time. Great atmosphere and decor. Nice and cosy too on such a cold night. The menu was well balanced with plenty of choice for vegetarians. We went for 6 plates, which came at intervals that were timed to perfection. The highlights were the wonton fried dumplings, the grilled corn, and the Japanese style fried rice. As local as you can get. I barely see any foreigners except myself. I was recommended to try this place by the locals.. I went there alone and the staff and patrons were quite nice to me. Introducing me some nice small portions to try out. I ordered half a dozen of these local oysters. I heard they came from a place 30 minutes away. Amazing! Really fresh and tasty. Even ate some without the mignonette. Could have ate another 6! I tried the Crabs claws which are difficult to eat but once you get to the meat - Heavenly! Good buttery sauce to soak up the bread. Took me a while to get to the crab Meat. Very meaty and fresh crab! For my 'mains', i did small portion of the mussels. Very good also, fresh and easy to eat. The cream wine, shallot sauce! I could drink them all but it goes well with bread. Cleared up the mussels as you can see from my photos. Ate everything! I did have a local gin to wash these dishes down. Booking a table was super easy and I was able to add in the comments that I needed their gluten free menu. When I arrived, the gluten free menu was there waiting on me, no awkwardness at all! This proved to me that the staff in the Barking Dog read the comments sent in with booking, unlike other restaurants I've been to in Belfast. The staff were amazing the whole night, very attentive and had a laugh with us. The food was outstanding, I cannot recommend it highly enough. From tapas starter, to dessert, everything was perfect. Gorgeous atmosphere to top it all off. 10/10 highly recommend.

Basically, just went off Google reviews and this place had good ratings. It did not disappoint. I ordered the fish and chips, which was a pretty basic thing to order, but it was good. Probably would try something more exotic next time. I know others from our party enjoyed what they ordered. Had sticky toffee pudding for dessert and that was fantastic. Really tasty with the carmel sauce. And then Bushmills, wine and beer were great as well. What really made the meal was the owner/manager.
