The girls that served us were lovely but we stood at the door for ages while more than one waitress passed us before we were told by another customer it was 'seat yourself'. We had our dog with us and he was welcomed. Every member of staff that passed made sure he had water and the lovely lady that took our order gave him a biscuit. She's rude, hates having families there and consistently shows disrespect to people who visit. We've been going to this pub sporadically for the past 3 years, since then we've had a daughter and whenever we take her the service is bad. I don't know what the problem is, we are always respectful. I'd recommend making a reservation if you choose to visit, we didn't and got promptly spoken to while looking for a table 'we have a table for 10 coming in soon' - as though it was a nuisance for us to have even come in. Been to what was a gem of a country pub a few times. You may have noticed the past tense. Went there today, the clue was the menu of burgers or flat breads, or a "small cod and chips". On holiday in the area so was quite close by. Difficulty getting booked up generally for restaurants because of the eat out to help out scheme. Thankfully we got in at Turkuaz possibly because they weren't participating in the money off offer. The restaurant was clean and tidy and most tables were occupied. A friendly lady seemed to be the only person serving but she managed to keep on top of orders. We (family of 4) had starters and mains and our boys had deserts. Food was quite delicious and fresh. They don't do the roast and just have a couple of options for children and not even on the menu. They did take the children's order first so they got theirs nice and quickly but they had completely finished eating before the adults got theirs. Which had to have taken ages at the speed the children eat. The pan fried fish was definitely oven cooked and so salty that none of the adults could stomach them and I like salt. The mixed veg side was green beans with some nuts thrown on top ... So sad because the people were lovely and the place was beautiful but the person cooking was definitely not the chef that set the menu but they are trying their best Im sure but the food seemed like what you would get at a supermarket to reheat. The best part was the beautiful fresh cut flowers on the table.

I live around an hour away and was passing through, spotted the cafe which looked busy enough and inviting so decided to turn around and make a stop - noticing a big sign about their great Italian coffee. There were initially a fair few people inside, eventually got to the counter and asked for a menu but had to awkwardly stand next to some tables to read it - not a huge issue just felt in the way and a little socially awkward. Ordered, paid what I would say is a very strong price for the food but with high hopes it would be worth it. I asked about the wait time, was advised about 15 minutes so proceeded to wait outside. After around 15 minutes, my coffee to go was brought out, and we were told food wasn’t far away. We then sat down outside and waiting another 25 minutes totalling 40 minutes for a ‘hot baguette’. Nothing was said when brought over and the waitress done a standard job so didn’t want to cause an issue for her. Maybe because of the wait, but the food just didn’t live up to what I was expecting, the portion size was good and I feel in that moment value for money was pretty justified, there were some good flavours but mainly from the salted butter I believe. It’s just a shame about the rest and we were treated as if it was normal and not a thing said. Really, I should have asked for a refund after 30 minutes and just gone elsewhere to get food if I was hungry enough to. I’m sure it’s a good cafe otherwise, the fry tops looked really good, just a poor experience. I would probably stop back if I was in the area, but really unsure how I feel about it overall.

We ordered the food and had some drinks. When the food had arrived we was given grey ham which was hard and rubbery and overall uneditable. We was waiting for check backs but no one came over to make sure our food was okay which lead to us having to go and talk to a member of staff ourselves. A truly great experience. Upon arrival we were made to feel so welcome by the friendly staff. There's a great choice of beers and wines in this lovely timbered village pub. We went straight into the Sunday roast (choice of beef or chicken on this particular Sunday and we opted for both) which was piping hot and cooked to perfection. A nice selection of desserts as well which I'd recommend the sticky toffee pudding. Service was professional, everything is clean and neat and the pub exudes an atmosphere of warmth and friendliness. The hosts were both brilliant, the room was clean well appointed and comfortable and it would have been hard to find fault. I’d originally booked to stay on 16/07 but suffered a breakdown on the way and fully expecting to loose my prepayment, as is only right as they have a business to run. However the hosts were both very accommodating and allowed me to transfer to the next evening, which I greatly appreciated. For an isolated country pub they seem to work hard at keeping the pub busy, the previous evening there was a darts match and the evening I stayed a quiz night and the pub was buzzing.
